This week we have a very important show for episode 171 of The Hidden Workforce.

March 29 is National Vietnam War Veterans Day.

Our show just so happens to land on this important day, so we wanted to take this time to cover it! Almost every Soldier who served in Vietnam experienced some type of disability to some extent due to exposures to multiple chemicals- the big one being Agent Orange- as well as different types of injuries sustained during their service.

We are thankful to have two very generous Vietnam Veterans who were willing to share their incredible stories of service with us.

First, we have Dennis Hoch. Dennis served in the Navy as an EOD over in Vietnam. Dennis is the head docent at the Oklahoma Military History Center in Broken Arrow and talks with us about the strong community and friendships he has built there and invites all veterans to visit their museum and find community with them too.

Next, we have Retired Air Force Major, Jack O’Connor. Jack served as a Navigator and played a major role in one of his most important missions in Vietnam. He strategically maneuvered and navigated their unit into Hanoi, Vietnam where his team retrieved the remains of the first 12 out of 23 American soldiers who lost their lives in captivity. Jack has written a book about this experience called, “They Touched Our Heroes for the Last Time.”

For Vietnam or any Veteran listening- please listen with your discretion.

You can listen live via radio or online on Groovy 105.7FM Saturdays at 9am and Sundays at 3pm, and all platforms that stream podcasts.
