Speaker 1 (00:09):
Welcome to the Highly
Effective man podcast hosted by
former Navy SEAL turned lifeand fitness coach.
I'm your host, jp Bolwan.
This podcast is your resourcefor unlocking the healthiest,
most productive and highlyeffective man within you.
Let's go.
Most men today are soft, andI'm not talking about physically
(00:34):
, I'm talking about mentally,emotionally and spiritually.
We've traded beinguncomfortable for dopamine,
we've traded resilience forroutines and we've traded
discipline for distraction.
And you know what the scarypart is, a lot of us are okay
(00:56):
with it.
In this episode we're going tohit like a brick wall because
the truth is that edge that mademen dangerous and capable,
respected, that's drying up.
But I'm here to help youreclaim it.
Discipline isn't dead.
You've just forgotten how tosharpen it.
So let's go ahead and fix that.
(01:20):
Now let me paint a picture.
We live in a world that's fullof convenience.
Right, you can order food withjust like the tap of an app on
your phone.
You've got entertainment, yougot validation All without even
leaving your couch.
But comfort is killing us.
When I was a Navy SEAL, likecomfort was, that was never the
(01:42):
goal.
Progress was, precision wasGrowth under pressure was.
That's how we built that edgeand that edge that we developed.
It wasn't some kind of machofantasy.
It was built in the trenches.
It was earned rep by rep, exercise by exercise, mission by
mission, and it was forgedthrough pain, sweat and
(02:07):
commitment.
Now we're more connected thanever before, we're entertained
than ever before, and most menare just lost or weak or unsure
of themselves than ever before.
And that's not by accident.
It's because we've lost thefoundation of discipline.
(02:30):
And that's where this episodebegins, and here's why this
message matters right now.
The world isn't getting anyeasier.
Your responsibilities, they'renot going to slow down, and your
family doesn't need a softerversion of you.
They need a stronger one.
(02:50):
Weak men wait for motivation.
Highly effective men buildstructure, and the biggest lie
that's been sold to so many ofus Is that you need to feel
ready.
That's a lie.
You don't need to feel ready.
You don't need to want to do it.
You need to be disciplinedenough to start anyway, because
(03:17):
Everybody has a moment where youlook in the mirror and you
realize I've been playing small,I've let myself go, I've let
the edge dull, I've becomeaverage, and I'll be honest with
you.
That's the moment that eitherbreaks you or you choose to
(03:37):
rebuild yourself.
And let me get brutally honestwith you guys about what
discipline, or the lack ofdiscipline, is costing you.
It's costing you your energy.
You know you probably feeldrained, not from effort but
from a lack of direction.
It's costing you yourconfidence, because deep down
(03:58):
you know that you're capable ofmore.
It's costing you yourrelationships, because how you
lead yourself bleeds into howyou lead at home.
It's costing you your health.
You'll say you'll fix it onMonday, but the mirror doesn't
lie right.
Monday comes around and you'relooking at yourself like did I
(04:20):
fix it?
And it's costing you yourlegacy, because your kids,
they're not listening to thewords that you say.
They're watching your actions.
They're watching how you leadyourself.
And men don't rise by chance, they rise by making a choice.
(04:41):
And if you're waiting for thatright time to come To get
disciplined man, it's alreadytoo late.
The cost of staying soft Iscosting you everything that you
say you value.
Now I'm not here to shame you, because I've been there too.
(05:02):
I've fallen off track after theSEAL teams, after football,
even as a firefighter.
There's times where I didn'thave any motivation.
But that's not what brought meback.
It was structure.
It was choosing the hard pathwhen the easy one was just like
(05:23):
screaming at me.
Discipline gave me back my fireand you can have it too.
I'm telling you, man to manyou're not too far gone, you're
not too old and you're not toofar gone.
You're not too old and you'renot too busy.
You just need a system tofollow and the will to commit.
Now here's how you rebuilddiscipline.
(05:45):
Right, I have the highlyeffective man system.
This is what I use with my guys.
Number one you got to constructa warrior body.
Right, you got to have movement, nutrition, sleep.
You don't need to be shredded, but you do need to be athletic,
fit, strong and capable.
Number two you need to sharpenemotional resilience.
(06:09):
Train the mind like it's amuscle.
Learn how to suffer well andcontrol the voice in your head
before it controls you.
Number three identify thehigher purpose, because men
without a mission, they get lost.
So you need a why that's sostrong that your excuses have no
(06:32):
validation, that your excuseshave no validation and you need
to operate with mental authority.
That's number four, becausediscipline always over
motivation, structure over chaos, morning and evening rituals,
boundaries, systems.
(06:53):
And number five you got to havebrotherhood and accountability,
because you weren't meant to gothis out alone.
All right, iron sharpens iron.
You need men in your corner whochallenge you and they don't
coddle you.
That's exactly what we do insidemy Highly Effective man Inner
Circle or my Rebuild the manprogram.
(07:16):
The Rebuild the man is a 90-dayhigh-performance coaching
program.
And the last group of guys theylost 43 pounds, reclaimed hours
of free time and became moreproductive, lowered their stress
and are now leading at home andin business.
(07:36):
It's not a.
It's not just about reps andmacros right, anybody can give
you a fitness and a nutritionplan.
It's about transformation.
It's about changing youridentity, who you, who you see
yourself as, and that's exactlywhat they experienced.
