Before he was hanged in 1730, the pirate Olivier Levasseur—better known as “La Buse” or “The Buzzard”—allegedly threw a cryptic message into the crowd, daring the world to find his hidden treasure. Estimated to be worth over a billion dollars, that treasure has never been found.
In this episode, Chuck and Marco chart the life of Levasseur—from privileged beginnings and brutal raids in the Indian Ocean to the infamous cryptogram that continues to baffle treasure hunters nearly 300 years later. Was it a myth? A misdirection? Or is the greatest pirate fortune still buried out there, waiting to be claimed?
Don't miss the special bonus: stay tuned after the episode for “The Buzzard’s Curse (Ballad of Olivier Levasseur),” a haunting original track inspired by La Buse’s final words.
