Your host, Arthur Yon, talks with the Founder and CEO of PayProudly, Jeff Maine. Jeff is a finance graduate from Saint Louis University and didn't initially plan to work in the payments industry. However, he was drawn to it and started his first payment company in 1999. Over the years, Jeff has gained experience in various aspects of the payments business, including check processing and mergers with other companies.
Jeff's inspiration for PayProudly came from a desire to bring clarity to business owners in the payments industry. He noticed that many business owners had a negative perception of credit card salespeople and didn't fully understand their payment processing rates and procedures. Jeff and his team wanted to take a consultative approach, educating business owners on how to process payments efficiently and cost-effectively. They also wanted to give back to the community, so they set up a charity account and donate a percentage of their earnings to organizations important to their business owners.
Jeff introduced the concept of "planting shade for others," which means creating a positive and enjoyable experience for business owners. By offering exceptional service and building strong relationships, PayProudly aims to become the preferred choice for payment processing, making it difficult for competitors to even get a foot in the door. They believe in doing what's right for their customers every day, even if it means not charging excessive fees.
