The Home Video Hustle

The Home Video Hustle

Since 2017, we've watched films both good and bad and discussed them while also sharing our stories and experiences with the films. We joke, sometimes it gets serious, but we always do it in our special way. We rate movies based on how entertained we are, so you may hear some controversial opinions. Follow us on pretty much every social media outlet and even better, show us some love on Patreon.

Christmas is coming a bit early this year! We haven't touched this series since PJ and I did it back in 2018 but that changes this week and to make it even better, PJ is back with us. We all have to admit that no matter what you think about this film, Eric Freeman gets it at least one point on his own right? PJ is back on the show this week and he picked a wild one to come back with. Ice Cube and J-Lo fighting a snake, Jon Voight sounding like Tony Montana from Scarface and squeezing Kari Wuhrer between his legs, Owen Wilson getting swallowed, Eric Stoltz taking wasps to the throat, this is a wild flick. The massacre was in Texas, so I pulled out the chainsaw!!! Yessir, it's time to check back in with Leatherface and this... comedy?!? Yeah, if the poster didn't give it away, this sequel pulls an Evil Dead 2 style move and just gets goofy. Cameron joins us very late into the episode and has us laughing at old video games. Where to even begin with this film? It's an original for sure, even though it recycles a lot from other horror flicks. We have some glorious Claymation kills, random aliens, birds and lizards attacking people, a Casio keyboard score that is dying to be remixed by Trade Voorhees, a genuinely creepy scene from the best actor in the film and a plot that had me asking...Why?!? The Halloween Hustle continues and the movie this week blends three things Chris and I love, wrestling, horror and b-movie schlock! Well, maybe just two things for Chris anyway. Anita has gone back to the locker room, so Chris and I are tag teaming this week and it's a hell of a main event! The Halloween Hustle begins and before Anita runs off, we had to get one more Alien film in, especially since this is a direct sequel to Prometheus. They weren't really fans of that film but this one actually has Xenomorphs and some decent kills, so I think it'll fare better. Chris and I also try and figure out our favorite and least favorite horror games, Brent is confused by In Vitro Fertilization and Anita has thoughts about Ali...

The first question I was asked when I told Chris and Anita about this movie was, why?!? Did we really need to know where the Xenomorphs come from? Maybe, maybe not but we're gonna learn anyway. There are a few familiar faces here though and Anita is a huge Alien fan now, so this could end up being a pleasant surprise. Andre joins us this week to discuss his Patreon pick and we got super nerdy on the microphones about movies, music and John Woo flicks in general. Andre and I debate Wu-Tang solo albums, Letterboxd reviews and how well you should Protect Ya Neck. Nice thing this week, we just got a clean 4K version of this film to watch! No Xenomorphs this time, just Predators and jungles! This is only my second time watching this film and a first time watch for Chris and Anita. If this was released today, would this be considered a "Soft Reboot?" It certainly feels like one and for some reason, it really made Chris want to go on a holiday of the Jet Blue variety. I also posed a question to them that I'll ask you as well, which location would you rather be stuck in...

Stork comes through with another Patreon pick and one of us is really going to be mad at him for this. I remember seeing this in the video store back in the day and always wondered what was up with this title. It sounds promising from the back of the box though, maybe we just need to give it a chance. Now, this is the battle I wanted to see back in the day. Not underground with a small group of people, not a bunch of backstories, just put aliens and a predator in a small town and let them put in work! Loved this back when I was 16 in the theater, but I must know if it hits the same in my 30s. My sick humor is pretty much the same, so i'm sure i'll still enjoy it! Well, that wasn't exactly what I was expecting! I also wasn't expecting a call from PJ early on in the show. He joins Chris and I in tackling this next Patreon film selection from DJ Sylvis. A first time watch for us all and PJ gets to experience it like you guys, not having seen a second of it. Anita took a week off but still got a few words in when Chris and PJ came at one of her favorite comedians. Thank you for listening! S...

We're taking a Bond break and getting back to multiple series' at once. Alien: Earth is out and a new Predator movie is coming, so let's get that algorithm going! We all really liked this film back in the day but it's been a very long time since we've watched it. Reviews don't look great online lets give it a chance. Some of us were definitely podcasting under the influence this week and that fits with the movie we watched, thanks to our supporter, Colby Burnett. None of us have ever watched Revenge of the Nerds but all of us knew there was controversy surrounding it. Can it really be as bad as i've heard? Chris also has his review of the new Superman film, Anita has a lot of thoughts about three particular scenes, and I have some words for a r...

We are in the Roger Moore era of Bond films now and since this is Cameron's favorite film in the whole 007 series, I had to get him back on the mic! You know i'm excited because they mashed together two things I love, James Bond films and the 70's era of Black films. Like getting some chocolate in your peanut butter. Does it hold up in 2025 though? Time to find out. Support the show on Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/c/homevide...

Just when I think i'm away from Disney, Anita done pulled me back in! Yes, this is yet another Disney flick that I've never seen but I was slightly hopeful because I've always heard that this is "Baby's first Indiana Jones." From what I can tell, this is looking more like the PBS version but i'm a fan of PBS, so I can give it a shot. Anita was so hype about it and it got a sequel, book series and TV series so it must be good! Right...

I've been excited to get to this Bond film, mainly because everyone seems to really hate it. Diamonds are Forever was never a favorite of mine growing up but I never thought it was the worst! Well, now I get to see if as an adult, I feel the same way. Anita also has a real good laugh at villains crashing ATV's. Chris got one over on me! Well, to be fair, I guess my terrible memory got one over on me. It's aiight though because this gives us an opportunity to show Anita her first DC animated film. Chris has been dying to talk about this on the show and he came with the knowledge. So glad we got this in time for the new Superman movie! ...Wait... Dammit! James Bond is back! But he looks a bit different. Yes, Connery is out and Lazenby is in. Does he do any good? Well, one host in particular feels a type of way. Chris also seems to have commitment issues, Anita has been getting her game on, Brent lets his Mid-western side show and Anita is making some strange noises... Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
