SPEAKER_05 (00:39):
I'm the worst person to have a podcast.

SPEAKER_10 (00:41):
I do fairly what's up, everybody.

SPEAKER_05 (00:54):
Welcome back to the Hook and Bridge Podcast.
I am your host, Harley, joinedby my co-host and little sister,
Taylor.

SPEAKER_13 (01:04):
Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_05 (01:05):
What's up, buddy?

SPEAKER_12 (01:07):
Nothing much.

SPEAKER_05 (01:09):
We haven't done this in a long time.

SPEAKER_12 (01:11):
Long time.
We've been busy.
I know.
It's just us.
How exciting.

SPEAKER_05 (01:19):
So I'm going to reveal some stuff to you.

SPEAKER_10 (01:24):
Okay.

SPEAKER_05 (01:25):
So on Friday.
Um I did half an hour giving youa farewell because you were
leaving the show.

SPEAKER_13 (01:41):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_05 (01:42):
Me and Chris did half an hour just talking about
you and saying all that.
Hopefully all nice things.
It was.
It was all nice things.
And telling, you know, tellingthe audience how sad we were to
see you go and understanding thesituation.
And that's crazy because theywere really big shoes for Chris

(02:04):
to fill.

SPEAKER_12 (02:05):
And now I'm here.
They're actually they're they'revery small shoes.
Don't look at my dogs.
Don't look at those.

SPEAKER_05 (02:12):
Um but like it was a it was a complete shock to Chris
because I was like, Yeah, youknow, it's just she wants to,
but the schedule's not workingout, blah blah blah.
So he he didn't know until wewere on the air.
I told him on the air.
So his crazy was genuine.
And then a couple hours later, you texted me, I'm gonna try and

(02:35):
make it work.

SPEAKER_12 (02:36):
So, okay, so here's the thing, guys.
Here's the thing.
I my work schedule, Harley and Iwere talking about this, and I
know I work eight-hour days,okay, and I get that, and I get
that's a normal working time.
However, I have to do opening.
So like I work 4 30 until like1, 1 30.

(02:58):
So, you know, anywho, with thatbeing said, I am usually in bed
and asleep by this time.
Like, I have been trying to likebecause like last night I didn't
sleep very well, and it's been awhole thing.
So I've been trying to like getto bed at a certain time, and
then Saturdays is my one actualday off, like my guaranteed day

(03:21):
off.
And that's also Dylan'sguaranteed day off.
So, like, normally Friday nightis when we go out to do
something because neither of ushave to get up early to go to
work.
So, like, we've been spending alot of time with his family and
going and doing things on Fridaywith his family, and anywho,
yeah.
So I am going to make an effortto set time aside for uh either

(03:46):
uh we do this earlier in theevening or like him and I are
done by like seven and we do it.
I'm gonna attempt my best.
But the past couple weeks, honestly, the past couple weeks
we have had actual like familydinners that we've had to attend
to.
Like it just wasn't gonna workout.
Um yeah, no, so that's that.
I'm gonna try.

(04:08):
We're gonna try, we're gonna seewhat happens.
Uh, Starbees is wrecking me.
They are working me like a dog.
I got sent home early today.

SPEAKER_02 (04:17):
That's a thing.

SPEAKER_12 (04:18):
Oh yeah, not in a bad way.
Oh yeah, yeah, no.
I got there and there wasnothing for me to do.
And I was like, okay, that'sfunny because they were so slow
today.
And they put me on support, solike I'm supposed to go like
restock and get ice, do all ofthese things, but all of that

(04:39):
was done.
And I said, Okay, so then whatdo I do?
She was like, honestly, I don'tknow.
We're all trying to just kind oftrying to find things to do
because athletes you can't justhang out.
Like, if you hang out, you getin trouble.

SPEAKER_01 (04:52):
Sure.

SPEAKER_12 (04:52):
Which is like, I get it, but also there's genuinely
nothing for us to do.
You know what I mean?
Like, just let it anywho, notthe point.
So I got there, there wasnothing for me to do.
Honestly, they could have sentme, I got sent home at like 2
30.
I was supposed to work untilfour.
They could have sent me home at12.
I had nothing to do.

(05:13):
So then I I made a joke becausethe one shift lead, we switched
shift leads because with meworking eight hours, I go
through three different shiftleads.
So the last shift lead, uh, hesaid something.
I was like, oh, do you want meto go like deep clean the
bathroom?
He goes, I already did.

SPEAKER_01 (05:29):
Okay.

SPEAKER_12 (05:29):
He had sent me on, I got two 10-minute breaks today.

SPEAKER_01 (05:33):
Dang.

SPEAKER_12 (05:34):
That never happens because we're always so busy.
I'm supposed to have two10-minute breaks.
So I'm supposed to have two10-minute breaks and a 30-minute
lunch break.
But like, I'm always guaranteedone 10-minute break.
And then if I get another one, cool.
If not, it's fine.
Uh yeah.
So I went on a 10 and then I dida whole trash run situation.

(05:56):
And then he was like, I mean, Iguess there's really nothing for
you to do.
Like, do you want to go home?
And I said, Are you serious?
And he says, Yeah, like I don't,like, we can handle it.
Like, there's there's three ofus here, and he was like, It'll
be all right.
I said, See you later, Don.

SPEAKER_05 (06:11):
Now you know you don't get paid for those last
two hours that you went home.
Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_12 (06:14):
Okay, well, yeah, I clocked out.
But I I worked nine and a halfhours the other day, so like
theoretically, it's gonna kindof equal out.

SPEAKER_05 (06:22):
Right.
Uh so the other thing toothat'll make things easier is
with me moving.
Um, I'll be I'll be homeearlier.
You know what I mean?
So I'll be which will be nice.

SPEAKER_11 (06:33):
Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_05 (06:33):
I'll be able to, if we need to, do the show a little
earlier.
Um that that'll help out.
And I think that would helpChris too, doing it a little
earlier.

SPEAKER_11 (06:43):
I agree, yeah.

SPEAKER_05 (06:44):
Yeah, yeah, ideally.

SPEAKER_12 (06:45):
I am yeah, I am I don't know if I can put that on
here, but did you were you ableto reach my lips?

SPEAKER_05 (06:56):
Yeah, I think you said that you were looking to uh
bomb Starbucks.

SPEAKER_12 (07:01):
Yeah, close enough.

SPEAKER_05 (07:03):
Um, I uh everybody I'm getting.
That's not what you're saying.

SPEAKER_12 (07:07):
It's a joke, it's a joke, it's not what I said.
If you want to know what I said, you better watch this on
YouTube.
Anywho, so I'm currently doingthat, so I'm hoping that will
help the situation, and I'm youknow I don't know.
I'm either I'm also like I'mwilling to work part-time.
Like I'm not willing to take apay cut, like it would have to
match my pay.

SPEAKER_03 (07:27):
Sure, sure, sure.

SPEAKER_12 (07:28):
I'm willing to do part-time because I've I've put
a hefty amount of money on mycredit card so far.
I got it down to about fivegrand.

SPEAKER_04 (07:36):
Down?
You got it down to yo.

SPEAKER_12 (07:41):
I'm in a lot of debt, but like each all of my
paychecks have been like athousand plus dollars, not by
much.
It's been like eleven hundred, twelve hundred.
So I'm just putting like ninehundred to a thousand dollars
each time on my card.
So hopefully that'll get paidoff soon.

SPEAKER_05 (07:59):
But uh, so some updates.
Umdates.
So we did that, we did that onFriday, me and Chris, and uh it
was a half an hour show uh thatI think I may release as like
the ending to this show just forfunsies.

SPEAKER_12 (08:17):
That's super fun.

SPEAKER_05 (08:19):
Um, but Lindsay was having a heck of a time with the
baby, so she busted in in themiddle of the show and just
dropped Adam off on me and thenwas like, I gotta go clean some
stuff up.
And then he was screaming, andthere was a whole thing, and
then she came in and she tookhim back, and then she slammed
the door, and I looked at Chrisand I was like, I think I have
to leave.
And he was like, You better.
And I was like, Yeah, that'scrazy.

SPEAKER_12 (08:40):
What happened?
What do you do?

SPEAKER_05 (08:43):
Um, so the the dog uh peed on the floor, and um he
was trying to like get into it.
So McKenna was supposed to joinus, uh, but she is unable to.
She said that we have she hopesthat we have a great podcast.

SPEAKER_12 (09:05):
Oh, yeah, I heard you were rage baiting McKenna,
which is crazy because I don'teven think you listened to
Sabrina Carpenter's new album.
Because I said that Tears was myfavorite song, and I think you
just ran with that and you toldher that it was the worst song
ever, but she called me.
She called me after the birthdayparty and said we have to talk
because why is he rage baitingme like that?

SPEAKER_05 (09:25):
What does that mean?
What's rage baiting mean?

SPEAKER_12 (09:27):
Um, meaning that you say something to get a rise out
of the other person.

SPEAKER_05 (09:31):
Oh no, no, this was my genuine opinion.
So I actually I actually didbecause I actually do enjoy
music.
So I'm staying in the loop oneverything, so yeah, I've
listened to I've listened to thenew uh Sabrina Carpenter record.
Um, I've listened to the new RobThomas record.
Oh, I didn't know there was anew Robinson record record, the

(09:53):
new Lofy record.
Um, but yes, I did listen to herher whole album in its entirety,
and I listened to the last onein its entirety afterwards to
because to I wanted to give likea concise true analysis.
Yeah, and I knew that youwouldn't do that level of

(10:14):
research, even though you loveso here's the thing is I have
recently listened to both albumsin their entirety.

SPEAKER_12 (10:22):
Like I listen, I do that anyways.

SPEAKER_05 (10:24):
Well, let's let's table that for a little bit
later.
We're gonna there's going to bethis Sabrina Carpenter
discussion.
The show may go a little longerthan I thought.

SPEAKER_12 (10:35):
Oh, buddy.
I don't know if it can.
I still have to eat dinner.

SPEAKER_05 (10:41):
Me too.
Um, so anyways, that was Friday, and then Saturday, my little boy
turned one year old.

SPEAKER_13 (10:50):
He's a big boy now.
He's one year old, and Hems isso cute.
He's such a wonderful guy.

SPEAKER_05 (10:59):
We had a great little party for him.

SPEAKER_13 (11:02):
Oh, it was so cute.

SPEAKER_05 (11:04):
It was Hungry Caterpillar themed from the
Hungry Caterpillar book fromEric Carl.
Uh, it was very, very fun, very, very cool themed.
Um it was a very nice venue, andyou know how there's
bridezillas?
Yeah, no one talks about themomzillas, and I think that

(11:33):
there should be more um uhwords, more light brought to
that's not the word that I'mlooking for, more awareness.
That's the word more awarenessbrought to these momzillas
because turns out I married oneand I didn't know.

SPEAKER_12 (11:52):
I could have told you that.

SPEAKER_05 (11:54):
Yo.

SPEAKER_12 (11:56):
In the best way, I love her to death, but she takes
Adam very seriously.

SPEAKER_05 (12:00):
It started Friday night, and then it bled into
most of the day on Saturday.
Um, dude, Saturday?
We got so the party started at1, right?
Yeah, we got there at 12:30,right?
Yeah.
Now, now I know everyone thatknows me personally is gonna be

(12:20):
like, it's not that big of adeal, you're a big guy, you
know.
And people that watch theYouTube video are probably gonna
be like, eh, it's not a bigdeal, you're a big guy.
Uh people listening, just so youknow, I'm a big guy.
But I woke up, I've been tryingto cut back on coffee, trying
real, real hard to cut back oncoffee.
And I woke up and I didn't drinkor eat anything.

(12:45):
I just immediately startedtaking care of him so that she
could do what she needed to do.
So then I thought, you know, acouple hours of that and I'll
I'll get a break.
And then a couple more hourswent by and I didn't get a
break, and then it was 11:30,and I was like, okay, well, I
have to get a shower because Ihave to be a part of this party.

(13:06):
So I got a shower, and then Igot out of the shower, and I
continued taking care of him,and I got yelled at all day for
random things, but I didn't eator drink anything until an hour
and a half into the party.
It was like 2 30 before I gotanything into my body.

SPEAKER_12 (13:30):
You and I are two very different people.
Like I oh, sorry, go ahead.

SPEAKER_05 (13:35):
So the first thing that I had, so we had it at an
ice cream place.
Shout out Beans Ice Cream inPicosin.
Fantastic.
Um, but we had it at this icecream place, and uh, I went next
door, so they have like a partyarea that is next to the actual
ice cream shop, and then theyclose it up and you're in the
party area.
So I went next door to the icecream place because I saw a

(13:58):
picture on the wall in the partyside of somebody holding coffee,
and I was like, Do they havecoffee?
So I went next door and I waslike, Do you guys have coffee?
And they're like, Not only do wehave coffee, but we make a cold
brew shake with any flavor ofice cream that you want.

SPEAKER_13 (14:17):
Wow.

SPEAKER_05 (14:19):
So I got a vanilla cold brew shake, and they use
stoke coffee to make it.
So as soon as the girl the girlpulls out the bottle of green
stoke out of the freezer, like,is that stoke?
Is that how you're making this?
And she was like, Yeah.
I said, Listen, I'm gonna needyou to pour half that bottle

(14:41):
into the choose a shake, and Isaid, and then you can just give
me the other half because I'mabout to drink it.

SPEAKER_12 (14:47):
Literally, like, here's$20.
Take all of them.

SPEAKER_05 (14:52):
Uh, but that shake was fucking phenomenal, dude.

SPEAKER_12 (14:55):
That sounds delicious.

SPEAKER_05 (14:57):
So good.
I had Lindsay try some, sheloved it, so then I went and got
her one, and I got me a secondone because as you should.
It was my son's birthday.

SPEAKER_12 (15:08):
Yeah, got him.
Drink up.

SPEAKER_05 (15:11):
But he had he had a blast.
He had a great time.

SPEAKER_12 (15:13):
That's good.

SPEAKER_05 (15:14):
And then he had a great time all day yesterday and
today.

SPEAKER_12 (15:18):
Um was he on a sugar hike?

SPEAKER_05 (15:21):
Um, he didn't have he didn't have a sugar crash.
He had a I've been awake becausehe didn't nap either.
Dude, he was up for like yeah,he was up for like seven hours
straight.
What a guy.
Oh, he finally got home andcrashed around seven, eight

(15:41):
o'clock and was out for thenight.
Yeah.
Go for him.
He's been going through ittoday, though.

(16:17):
He has been a grouchy littledude.

SPEAKER_12 (16:19):
Wow, he misses the party fun.

SPEAKER_05 (16:21):
Oh that's a fun.
Yeah, he's he's getting he'sgonna get better though.
I think Dylan and I have thesame chair, but in different
colors.

SPEAKER_12 (16:31):
You do.
I said that when you got thechair.

SPEAKER_05 (16:34):
Ah.

SPEAKER_12 (16:34):
You really don't listen when I talk.

SPEAKER_05 (16:37):
Most of the time, no.

SPEAKER_12 (16:39):
I literally was I literally was like, you and
Dylan have the same chair.
We had a whole conversation.

SPEAKER_05 (16:43):
Um, so you haven't listened to the new AJR at all,
right?
I want to show you one song.

SPEAKER_12 (16:53):
And we're gonna make me cry.

SPEAKER_05 (16:55):
No, no, no, no.
Okay.
Um, but we're going to we'regonna play it, but we're gonna
talk during it so that we don'tget copyrighted.

SPEAKER_10 (17:04):
Okay.

SPEAKER_05 (17:05):
Um, but I really want your take on it because
it's really, really good.
It might be my new favorite AJRsong, honestly.
Um, it's called The Big Goodbye.
And it's it's not sad.
Um and the music, oh, I can'twait.
I'm gonna show you the actualmusic video.

(17:28):
So let's see here.

SPEAKER_12 (17:31):
Well, while you show me that, we can talk about uh
the situation that happened atStarbucks.

SPEAKER_03 (17:38):
Oh, dude.

SPEAKER_12 (17:39):
There's so much drama happening.
So Lisa is leaving.

SPEAKER_03 (17:46):
Lisa's leaving.

SPEAKER_12 (17:48):
Yes, so she is going on a coffee break, I think they
call it, or something like that, where she gets paid.
I I think because she's beenthere for over 20 years or
something, that she gets to justtake a year off.
What so come October?
She's just like on a sabbaticalfor a year.

SPEAKER_03 (18:09):
What?

SPEAKER_12 (18:10):
Yeah, so and I found I found this out because Kristen
said.
Oh, can I use anything?
Can I use actual names?
I probably shouldn't, right?
Can we put it on the case?

SPEAKER_05 (18:20):
Uh we're not saying their last names, you're fine.

SPEAKER_12 (18:22):
Okay.
Um, yeah, so I think she getspaid, not like her full pay, but
I think she gets some sort ofcompensation.
Like she I think she still getsher health insurance.
Yeah, but she also has like it'ssomething you have to earn
because she's been there for Xamount of years.
I'm 10 years away.

SPEAKER_05 (18:40):
So no, I'm nine years away.

SPEAKER_12 (18:43):
Nine years away.
So Kristen, um, I found this outbecause she asked me, she said,
Do you want to learn how to dotits?
I said, Yeah, sure.
You know, and I was like, that'srandom.
And she goes, Yeah, well, Lisa'sleaving.
I said, What do you mean Lisa'sleaving?
Also, there's so many otherpeople here.
Why do I have to learn how to doit?
I can't camp.

(19:04):
Like that is that simple.
Anywho, so there's that tea.
Um, but this guy came throughthe line today and he had this
giant order.
It was like$50.

SPEAKER_05 (19:16):
And which is not hard, obviously, where I would
have coffees in a sandwich.

SPEAKER_12 (19:22):
Literally, but he got it, it's he got three or
four different coffees, um uhsome sort of frappuccino, and
then a refresher, I think, andthen like a couple food items.
Anywho, so he gets these lattes, you you and me both, buddy.
So he gets these lattes, and Iwas over it.

(19:45):
Like, I was tired of readingpeople's things back.
I didn't get a lot of sleep lastnight, so like I wasn't reading
very well.
Anywho, so I was like, ifeverything looks correct for you
on the screen, it's going to bethis price, you know, kind of
like a speak down forever holdyour peace situation.
Okay, that if I tell you ifeverything looks correct on the

(20:06):
screen, and you say, Yeah, itlooks good, that's it, that's
your order.
That's what you're getting.
It's that simple.
All right, so for any of youlistening, that's on you dog.
He pays for it, but doesn'tquestion the price or anything,
pays for it.
I hand him out these drinks, andhe goes, We're not supposed to

(20:29):
have three lattes.
I said, Wow, that's crazy.
I was like, Did you read thescreen when I asked you if
everything was right?
Yeah.
I said, Okay, well, the threelattes were on the screen, and
also they were different typesof lattes, and I definitely was
like, This latte, this latte, this latte.

(20:49):
And you said, Yes.
And he was like, Well, we're notsupposed to have three.
I said, Do you want me to havesomeone come over here and take
it off?
No, I guess it's fine.
And he was like mad about it.
I'm like, please don't comeback.
Sorry.
And then I had another guy comein who wanted an iced espresso
shot with like all of thesethings, and he was super nice.

(21:12):
But we're going througheverything, and he goes, and
then I want two side cups ofice.
And I said, Okay, so I gothrough everything, and I tell
him everything that's in hisiced espresso with the two
things of ice.
And he's a regular, so I hadsomeone come over and even help
me.
She was like, Yeah, this is howhe likes it.
Please tell me why he gets it.
And he goes, Oh no, I didn'twant ice in the espresso.

(21:35):
And I was like, I literallyasked you if you still wanted
ice in the espresso, or if youjust wanted the espresso and
then your separate cup of ice,and you're like, No ice in the
espresso.
I cannot make this up, anywho.
So then he was like, Do you wantme to pay for it for like a new
one?
I said, No, we'll remake it,it's fine.
Also, for those of youlistening, I don't actually tell

(21:57):
the people this.
I'm very nice, except for theguy that came through the drink.
I told him because that's wild.
Anywho, then he goes, Oh, well, are you sure?
Like, are you just gonna throwthese out?
I said, You can just have youknow like you can have these
these twos.
But like this dude left withlike five espresso, like like
venti espresso.

(22:17):
Yeah, it was crazy.
And he was like, This seems likea lot of coffee.
I said, Yeah, you're gonna bejuiced up.
Like, my bad.
Anyhow, then I got some homeearly.
Trying to think.
Dylan and I are having umfighting problems at the gym
with some old ladies.
So there's that drama.

(22:38):
Yeah.
Do you want to play the AJRalbum over this?
Or under this?

SPEAKER_05 (22:43):
No, but I want you to to give your opinion on.

SPEAKER_12 (22:47):
So then what are we gonna talk about?

SPEAKER_05 (22:49):
Oh, we got plenty to talk about about.

SPEAKER_12 (22:52):
No, I meant like while the video is playing.

SPEAKER_05 (22:54):
We're gonna talk about the video and the song.

SPEAKER_12 (22:57):
Oh, well then for I was I was giving you filler
information.
Never mind.
Oh, you really?
Sorry, yeah.

SPEAKER_05 (23:04):
Alright, here comes.
Um, let me turn the volume downa little bit though.
Cause she's gonna be a littleloud.
Alright, ready?

SPEAKER_08 (23:16):
Mm-hmm.
Oh well, here we go again.
Let me know if that's 525,really, give me 30, make it 30
really given.
No, that's okay.

SPEAKER_05 (23:26):
I love like the auctioneer thing in the
beginning.

SPEAKER_11 (23:28):
Yeah.

unknown (23:29):
525, really, give me 30, make it 30, really.

SPEAKER_05 (23:32):
Dude, the beat on this thing is sick.
I love it.

SPEAKER_12 (23:34):
We gotta get one of those.
It kind of looks like um Adam'ship hop board.

SPEAKER_05 (23:38):
It does.

SPEAKER_12 (23:40):
This video Adam did that.

SPEAKER_05 (23:42):
This video was so well shot.

SPEAKER_12 (23:44):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_05 (23:45):
So they uh for everybody that's in the audience
that's uh not watching and justlistening with us.
Uh this new AJR song is filmedin a bar.
Yeah.
Um and it reminds me of likeTears.

SPEAKER_06 (24:01):
It does.
Congratulations.

SPEAKER_05 (24:06):
Or like a like a shitty TJI Friday.

SPEAKER_06 (24:10):
Oh what?

SPEAKER_05 (24:11):
Like a shitty TJI Friday.

SPEAKER_06 (24:13):
Yeah, I'm used to.

SPEAKER_12 (24:15):
Honestly, I think there's a little bar that looks
like that in Ohio.

SPEAKER_08 (24:21):
And I should be so happy I could cry.

SPEAKER_05 (24:24):
Oh, this breakdown's so good.

SPEAKER_08 (24:27):
This is what a happy end looks like.
Someone down in my hand.

SPEAKER_04 (24:38):
I love that they added the port too.
Looking for an ad whatever.

SPEAKER_12 (24:48):
I like that the hat is just, you know, it's just
part of the mouth.

SPEAKER_04 (24:51):
Yeah, have you noticed his uh his pin white
t-shirt dude is it's got a hearton it now.

SPEAKER_09 (24:58):
Oh no, I can't come in here.

SPEAKER_04 (25:06):
Ah, it's on the green garden!

SPEAKER_08 (25:15):
And my whole life could sound like this.

SPEAKER_03 (25:18):
Um, I love that.

SPEAKER_12 (25:30):
Oh, it's so good.

SPEAKER_04 (25:36):
Chris also listened to the entire album.

SPEAKER_07 (25:39):
Yeah, did he cry?

SPEAKER_04 (25:41):
No, no, he doesn't even like them.
He was like, eh, it's likeReally?

SPEAKER_12 (25:46):
I love his voice.

SPEAKER_04 (25:48):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_12 (25:49):
Like it's such a clean, like, I'm a big fan of
Yeah, absolutely.

SPEAKER_04 (25:56):
It's also super like a bad boy.

SPEAKER_09 (25:58):
Nobody's not gonna be like, I'll be number one.

SPEAKER_04 (26:09):
Drum the player's still hanging out with the
drama.

SPEAKER_09 (26:19):
For the first time in years.
But I need the window.

SPEAKER_06 (26:29):
Yeah.
That'd be cool.

SPEAKER_12 (26:34):
Or at least like all the brats.
And sound like this.

SPEAKER_05 (26:40):
Oh, that little piano breakdown.

SPEAKER_08 (26:44):
Don't turn around, kid.

SPEAKER_05 (26:47):
So I was talking to Lindy about the song and um
trying to figure out.
I think that this is gone is uhlike the reprise for that one
song that they had on it wascalled uh Come Hang Out.

(27:07):
Where it's like Come Hang Out.
Um, I think it's the reprise.
I think the the chord structureis the same, and this is like
the follow-up to it.

SPEAKER_10 (27:20):
Alright then.

SPEAKER_05 (27:22):
Oh, do so good.

SPEAKER_08 (27:29):
Just make it sound like that.

SPEAKER_05 (27:34):
I just love the auctioner part.
I think I just I really lovethat.

SPEAKER_11 (27:42):
It's also crazy that like they do all of this on like
three things, you know what Imean?

SPEAKER_05 (27:48):
Yeah, I mean what's crazy is that they produce the
entire thing themselves.
Start to finish, they do all ofit on their own.

SPEAKER_11 (27:56):
Yeah.
Jack of all trades.

SPEAKER_05 (27:59):
They hire these and tell them what to do.

SPEAKER_09 (28:03):
Yeah.
And some they are saying aboutthe shit out, dude.

SPEAKER_12 (28:08):
You know how much money they save doing that?

SPEAKER_05 (28:11):
Oh, I'm sure.
Well, they also own their ownlabel, too.

SPEAKER_12 (28:15):
Oh, I didn't know that.
That's cool.

SPEAKER_05 (28:18):
Well, they did.
I think they're signed tosomebody now.
Ah, but anyways, uh, that was uhthat was the big goodbye.
And for the audience, Taylor andI are going to do a special
engagement where we sit down andlisten to that album front to
back, just the two of us, anddive in emotionally.

(28:40):
So stay tuned for that.

SPEAKER_11 (28:43):
Um excited.

SPEAKER_05 (28:44):
That's gonna be on YouTube only.
That is gonna be a uh livestream.
No, we won't do it live.
We won't do it live.

SPEAKER_06 (28:51):
I don't want to do that.

SPEAKER_05 (28:52):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
No, no, no, it won't be it won'tbe a live stream, it'll just be
a YouTube only show.
Um, so yeah.
Anyways, um, so Adam turned one.
We talked about your Starbucksadventures.
Tell me about this gymsituation.

SPEAKER_12 (29:13):
Sorry, standby.
Oh, she's laughing.
No, I was so I was concerned.
It sounded like a scary screen, but it's laughing.
We're good.
Okay, so gym situation.
So Dylan and I have been goingto the gym, and Dylan used to
live in a different part ofFlorida, and then they moved to

(29:34):
where we are now, right?
Now the different part ofFlorida that he lived in had the
same gym, it's like a like a gymchain situation.

SPEAKER_05 (29:41):
What's the name of it?

SPEAKER_12 (29:43):
Um, it's LA Fitness.

SPEAKER_05 (29:45):
Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_12 (29:46):
So, and with LA Fitness, you have a home gym,
and then any other LA Fitnessthat you want to go to, you had
to pay ten dollars to get to,which is crazy.
That's that's crazy.
Anywho, we signed up.
I already had issues when wesigned up because the guy like
didn't talk to me, like he wasjust talking to Dylan.

(30:09):
Like, Dylan came, like, we wentin together and he was like,
Hey, can you help me get hersigned up?
Like, we can't do it online, obviously, we have to do it
here.
And he was like, Oh, yeah, likeno problem, blah blah blah blah
blah.
Takes me back, a lady washelping me, she was talking to
me, like explaining everythingto me, but he was only talking
to Dylan, even when he wasexplaining like the facility,
and Dylan has been to this gymbefore, he's had his membership

(30:32):
since 2020, but even when he wasexplaining the facility, he was
only talking to Dylan.
And I was like, Okay, you know, whatever.
I'm not gonna think about howthat until he told Dylan, he
said, What type of membershipwould you like her to have?
Yeah, so that I was like, Well, that's what it's My credit card.

(30:54):
It's my debit card.
He's not paying for this.
This is my membership.
Yeah.
Which is the reaction everyoneshould have.

SPEAKER_03 (31:03):
Dude, that is crazy.

SPEAKER_12 (31:05):
That's what he said.
I was like, okay.
Like, rugs me the wrong way, butsometimes I look too too far
into things.
So I said, okay, whatever.

SPEAKER_05 (31:14):
I was gonna no, that was not too far.
Did Dylan fight him?

SPEAKER_12 (31:17):
No, he didn't say like he didn't realize.
Oh, like he didn't even thinktwice about it.
Well, I told him while we werewalking, I was like, I didn't
like how that was.
And he was like, Well, maybe hedidn't like mean anything by it.
I think he just meant because Iknow more about the gym.
And I said, asking you what typeof membership you want me to
have is crazy.
Is this the 1950s?
I don't think so.

SPEAKER_05 (31:37):
Dude, it's it's layered too, because it's like
it's the idea of like he'sdeciding, he thinks that men
should decide everything forwomen, right?
There's that layer, but thenit's also like asking what kind
of membership he thinks that youshould have insinuates like what
do you think she should work onas far as her body?

SPEAKER_12 (31:59):
No, exactly.
So yeah, so I was like, that's awild thing.
I was like, okay, but likewhatever, right?
The lady was really nice.
I was like, oh, misogyny'sinsane, crazy, but whatever.
So then he had also told Dylan,he said, Do you live here now?
And Dylan was like, Yeah, I welive here.
And he said, Do you want me toput a note in saying um that you

(32:23):
want this to be your home gym sowe can change it, so then you
don't have to pay the tendollars.
And Dylan was like, Yeah, thatactually would be great.
Thank you.
So this note was supposed to bein the here, right?
Dylan went to the gym without meon numerous occasions.
We had been there like 10-ishdifferent times, nothing was
said.
He went to go the other day.

(32:44):
This the I guess these two oldladies were really grouped in,
like fully like yelling at himbecause this wasn't his home
gym.
And they said, You need to payten dollars.
And he said, Oh, it should thereshould be a note in there that
this was said, this was supposedto be changed.
And they said, You have to comeMonday through Friday between 8

(33:06):
a.m.
and and 5 p.m.
or something like that, whilethe manager is here to have him
change it.
And Dylan said, Yeah, it shouldhave already been changed.
There's a note in the file, fully like didn't believe it,
accused him of sneaking it.
He was like, I have been heremultiple times, and they're
like, Oh, you must have justsnuck past.
Where'd you go?

(33:28):
I'm just he was like, he waslike, You she was like, You must
have been just sneaking past, like you must have been sneaking
it.
And he was like, I literallypaid for the membership.
What do you mean sneaking it?
Like, anyhow, so it was thiswhole thing, they were really
nasty.
So we went in the the next day.
We went to go to the gymtogether because he was like,

(33:49):
Whatever, we'll see what's up.
Like, I'll just use your guestpass.
Tell me how we didn't even getup to the desk.
She stands up and goes, I toldyou you couldn't be here.
I told you that you had to comeduring this time, blah blah
blah, like running her chunks, didn't even let us speak.
Now there was a guy there whowas there when we signed up, and

(34:13):
this is the same guy that hasbeen letting Dylan through
because he knew the situation.
Not that not the same guy youtold him.

SPEAKER_10 (34:19):
Sure, sure, sure.

SPEAKER_12 (34:21):
It's a guy that was there, like witnessing it.
So he remembered Dylan, hedidn't have an issue with it.

SPEAKER_05 (34:25):
LA Fitness, get your shit together.
I hope you hear this.

SPEAKER_12 (34:28):
LA fitness.
First of all, I'm about tocancel my membership and his
membership.
Second of all, they should startworking.
You need to have people work ontheir customer service because
this whole thing could have beenavoided if they were just nice
about it and they're like, hey, like we understand you like on
our side, it's not changed.
You know what I mean?
Like, still ridiculous, stillridiculous.

(34:49):
However, should have beenanyhow, should have been handled
a different way.

SPEAKER_05 (34:54):
Fully nuts, dude.

SPEAKER_12 (34:56):
Oh and it was like late.
It was like 7, 8 p.m.
Because we go to the gym likethat's another thing, LA
Fitness.
Why is it on the weekends thatyou close at 6 p.m.?
Who does that?
That's crazy.
Anywho.

SPEAKER_05 (35:11):
Wait, they're not even a 24-hour gym.

SPEAKER_12 (35:13):
No, they're not a 24-hour gym.

SPEAKER_05 (35:15):
What?
What are you doing?

SPEAKER_12 (35:18):
Anywho, so we uh I went to go stay.
I said, Wow, that's crazy.
I had to deal with stupid peopleat work.
I was at work at 4 30 thismorning.
I've been up, I have not taken anap.
Let's go.
We'll go toe-to-toe right now.
And Dylan goes, I'm sorry,ma'am.
I have a job.
He said, Those days, you said Iactually worked during those

(35:40):
days.
And I very seldom watch him getan attitude.
He was so mad, rightfully so.
So then she said, Well, you haveto pay.
He said, I'm using her guestpass.
Then she had a problem withthat.
I said, That's crazy.
He's using my guest pass.
Well, you need to make sure thatit's filled out properly.

(36:01):
I said, That's fine.
I'm sure this gentleman is goingto help us fill it out because
that's who we were talking to.
Anywho, so then she left.
It was the end of her shift.
She left, and the guy tells ushe was like, Hey, like, you
know, she means well, she justtakes this very seriously.

SPEAKER_03 (36:15):
I don't know.

SPEAKER_12 (36:17):
No, I said, absolutely not.
He is great though, I will say.
He is amazing, he is so nice.
He fully took care of thesituation, set up a gas pass for
Dylan, and then today when wewent in, he remembers us now.
I scanned, he didn't even ask tosee Dylan's name, he just said
have a nice work at AustinLaker.

SPEAKER_05 (36:35):
Do you know?
Did you grab this lady's name?

SPEAKER_12 (36:38):
No, so I completely forgot.
I didn't even think about itbecause she was like leaving.
They don't wear name tags.

SPEAKER_05 (36:45):
So I want this woman.
I people I want I want her andthe other lady.

SPEAKER_12 (36:51):
Oh, and then the guy was asking.
He said, Well, what is the theguy who um what was it?
The guy who helped you guys, doyou remember what his name was?
I said, No, this was a monthago.
Oh like two and a half weeksago.
I was like, I couldn't tell you.

(37:12):
Like, I can pick him out of thelineup, and he also he comes in
to Starbucks every day.
I can literally tell you hisStarbucks.
He comes in every day, and I'mlike, I have no idea what his
name is.
So it turns out I ended upgetting his name because he came
into Starbucks through the cafe, and I'm pretty sure it's him.
This isn't the point.
So he was like, Well, can youdescribe him to me?
So, like, we're trying todescribe like what he was

(37:33):
wearing, what he usually wearswhen we're there, like he had a
goatee.
And the guy's like, I need more.
And Dylan was like, Do you wantme to say that he was black?
Like, is that what you'relooking for?
And he was like, Yeah, like hewas a tall black guy, he wears
compressions, he has a goatee, and he goes, Well, that doesn't
help.
We have two tall black guys.
I said, Okay, and Dylan waslike, He's he's he was like,

(37:55):
He's a light skinned black guy.
I don't know how else, and itwas so funny, isn't it?

SPEAKER_05 (38:02):
So funny, I I do it too, and I I try, I think it's
like out of respect.

SPEAKER_12 (38:07):
I don't I mean, I guess so.
No, I mean like like the skatingaround, you know, yeah, no, but
like we weren't trying, like wegave so much detail that I feel
like it was just trying to getit out of us.

SPEAKER_05 (38:22):
But yeah, I do that too, though, where like I'll
skate around like literally,yeah.
Trying not to say it becausealso honestly, if you're
listening and uh you're a personof color, um, please comment and
tell me, does that make me a badperson?
Like, I don't know, genuinely.
I don't know.

SPEAKER_12 (38:40):
I think it depends on the situation.
I think if it matters in thesituation, do you know what I
mean?

SPEAKER_05 (38:47):
I only do it out of respect.
That's my thing.
Yeah, no, that's what I'msaying.
Because I wouldn't describe likeI wouldn't describe a white
person and then be like, youknow, the white guy.
Like, you know, oh, I do.
Like, I think it's out ofrespect that I'm like, well, if
I wouldn't do that for a whiteperson, I shouldn't do that for
a person of color either.

SPEAKER_12 (39:07):
Yeah, I see it.
I like I said, I think itdepends on the situation, like
if it's necessary.
Like, I I hear stories andthey're like, oh, and they were
white, or oh, they were black,or they were Hispanic.
I'm like, that didn't addanything to sort.
I didn't need to know that.

SPEAKER_05 (39:22):
But I have I have had people um call me out and be
like, the black guy, and I'mlike, Yeah, yeah, like uh same
thing.
You like you're like, I gave youso many other details about
persons to me.
It actually says that the personwho says that only sees the
color, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_12 (39:41):
So well, we were allowed to be able to do that.

SPEAKER_05 (39:42):
Either way, people people uh comments, please.
I I'm very curious.

SPEAKER_12 (39:47):
And we were allowed to learn as a person.
Um there was the lady who helpedme, and she was so nice, so
nice, but the only physicaldescription I could give to her
is she had like botched lipfiller and a fake butt.
And I know that sounds so mean.

SPEAKER_04 (40:05):
This is the this is the bad lady, no, no, no.

SPEAKER_12 (40:08):
The lady who was so nice who signed me up, and she
was so kind, and I was like, andI didn't want to say that
because I'm like, that soundsawful, and I don't mean it.
That's just my observation, youknow?
Anywho, so I had um I told him Isaid I can literally point out
where her desk was.
Like, I can't walk you over toit.
I don't remember their names.

(40:28):
Anywho, yeah, so Dylan's gonnago on Tuesday, see what he needs
to do to get it figured out.
Um, he also I think is justgoing to get a different gym
membership collectively.
I think we might both get adifferent gym.

SPEAKER_05 (40:40):
Like a planet fitness or something, at least a
24-hour gym.
But like find a 24-hour gym.

SPEAKER_12 (40:46):
So we're gonna go to one where Dylan's sister's
boyfriend goes to, I think.
And it's more of like a like afamily-owned gym.
Describe him.
Um, he's a white guy.
Um, yeah, no, so I think we'regonna go there because the whole
reason that I was going we weregoing to this gym is because it
was so close um to my work, likeit's literally across the street

(41:10):
from where I work.
So I was like, oh, I can goafter work, but then I'm so
tired.
I'm like, I don't want to go.
I'd rather go with Dylan,anyways.
Like it being in a gym alonegives me weird vibes.
I don't want to do that.

SPEAKER_02 (41:21):
Um I have sound effects now.

SPEAKER_12 (41:23):
That's exciting.

SPEAKER_02 (41:25):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_12 (41:26):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_02 (41:26):
I like I like sound effects.

SPEAKER_12 (41:29):
Since our soundboard doesn't work.

SPEAKER_02 (41:30):
Do you hear them when I play them?

SPEAKER_12 (41:32):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_10 (41:35):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_05 (41:36):
I have to play with it more.
I I I can I can add sounds tothis one too.

SPEAKER_06 (41:41):
That's fun.

SPEAKER_05 (41:41):
And it's and it's built into StreamYard, so I
don't have to have like aseparate thing.
Yeah, it's pretty pretty dope.

SPEAKER_06 (41:48):
That's super insane.

SPEAKER_05 (41:50):
So I want to talk about uh some new music stuff
going on.
So I I obviously I want to talkabout the AJR stuff.
Like I think that this new albumis incredible, it's deep, it's
raw.
Um, I think that uh this is themost that those three talented

(42:11):
men has ever given us of them.
Um very, very personal.
Um but it's it's just it'sreally well written.
I would say as a diehard AJRfan, it's not for everybody.
Um, but if you can appreciatetheir story, not their story of

(42:33):
like them being musicians, butlike their personal story and
what they've had to overcome thepast couple of years, um, this
album is truly a work of art.
Um even even that being said, that song I just showed you is
just it's so catchy.

SPEAKER_11 (42:51):
It's really good, yeah.

SPEAKER_05 (42:52):
Um, but the other ones are all very deep.
Uh besides Betty.
Betty's really just a fun song, but um but I also want to talk
about this Sabrina Carpenterissue.

SPEAKER_12 (43:06):
This shoe is crazy.
Somehow I heard another podcastsay that she was uh something
plant.
What's it called?
Yeah, like a music industryimplant.
She's not real.

SPEAKER_05 (43:27):
I don't I don't disagree.

SPEAKER_12 (43:31):
I they also said that her parents are
Scientologists, and I don't knowhow to treat them.

SPEAKER_05 (43:35):
I don't I don't believe that.
I don't believe that.
Yeah, I didn't look at it.
I don't I wouldn't go as far asto say that she's a plant for
the music industry.
I think she is a product of themusic industry.
Yeah.
I think that she didn't startoff that way, but has very, very

(43:55):
much turned into it.
Um yeah.

SPEAKER_12 (43:59):
Yes and no.
I I agree when I kind ofdisagree.

SPEAKER_05 (44:03):
Let me give my my opinion, my my full opinion
musically, and then we'll havethis discourse.
Um her first album.
No, sorry.
The first album that I listenedto.
Short and sweet.
Short and sweet.

(44:24):
It was very pop-heavy, it'sradio pop heavy, right?
Yeah, we all agree.
That has espresso on it, and ithas um Juno on it, and it has uh
what was that other big one thateverybody was obsessed with?

(44:46):
That's on there.

SPEAKER_12 (44:47):
Espresso and oh hang on, I can't remember the name.

SPEAKER_05 (44:50):
Yeah, I can't either.

SPEAKER_12 (44:52):
It's so funny because I think I just have it
up.

SPEAKER_05 (44:54):
It's the one with uh Jenno Ortega in the video.

SPEAKER_11 (44:58):
Yeah, and I can't remember taste.
Oh, and it has please, please, please.

SPEAKER_05 (45:05):
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
How did I forget that?
So even despite that album to mebeing pinnacle music industry
driven pop.
Yes, oh absolutely songs, please, please, please.
Despite how I feel about it, isa catchy tune.

(45:28):
Yeah, espresso is a catchy tune.
Taste, I genuinely just likebecause of the artistic take of
the music video.

SPEAKER_12 (45:36):
Uh you like that her and Jenna Ortega make out.

SPEAKER_05 (45:39):
No, honestly, that was the worst part for me.
Um, I'm not a f I'm not a fan ofJenna Ortega, I'm really not.
I I don't I don't find herattractive.

SPEAKER_12 (45:48):
Um, do you like her as an actor though?
Like as an actress?
I think she's a fine.

SPEAKER_05 (45:54):
I I don't think she's a bad actress or actor,
however she prefers to bepronounced.
Yeah, I don't think she's bad byany means.
I think she keeps getting put inbad roles, which is not her
fault.

SPEAKER_12 (46:06):
Yeah, I think she's a great Wednesday Adams.

SPEAKER_05 (46:09):
Yeah, she's being forced into that role though.
Similarly to the girl from uhParks and Rec, that yeah after
that role, she just played thatsame character in other things.
So, like, I that's not herfault.
That's not Jenna Ortega's fault.
Yeah, I think that she was okayin that Death of a Unicorn

(46:33):
movie.
Um that was a really fun moviefor me, yeah, but she wasn't
what what solidified that movie,to be honest.
It was Paul Rudd.
I felt like Rudd uh is just afar more elite actor than her.

SPEAKER_12 (46:48):
I mean, he's also like in his 40s, for sure, yeah.

SPEAKER_05 (46:51):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Like 75 movies or something.
Yeah, like but I do feel that umunfortunately, she just keeps
getting cast as the same person, and that's not her fault.
Um but I felt like the artisticvision on that uh music video
was very fun, it was a very funthrowback to the 80s horror, and

(47:15):
yeah, I liked it.
You know what I mean?
I I enjoyed it.
Um please, please, please.
The music video sucks.

SPEAKER_12 (47:23):
Um, I don't know if I've ever watched it.
I'm gonna be 100% real with you.

SPEAKER_05 (47:27):
I did a deep dive because of this new album, and
and there's a lot that I have tosay about it.
Uh espresso, I feel like is yourthe and that this is where I'm
this is where I'm getting to.
Espresso is the music industry'sgolden goose.

(47:49):
Hold on, hear me out.
Hear me out.
The music video is scantilyclad, it's clearly sexual and
full of innuendos.
Um, unfortunately,provocativeness is what pushes
our society forward.
Uh, the more provocative, themore the younger people

(48:11):
gravitate towards it, right?
So that's just the society thatwe live in.
You can argue.

SPEAKER_12 (48:17):
You you say that, but everyone threw a fit.

SPEAKER_05 (48:21):
No, not everyone.
Specific types of people threw afit, not which is crazy.
If everyone threw a fit, thisalbum wouldn't be the number one
in the Billboard 100 for thelast three weeks or whatever,
but I digress.
Um, we're getting to that album, but right now, talking about
espresso, I think that the musicindustry and unfortunately,

(48:43):
Sabrina Carpenter saw thesuccess that espresso brought.

SPEAKER_11 (48:47):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_05 (48:48):
And she was already kind of getting heat for her
live performances.
And I feel like between theheat, the controversy, and
trying to kind of shove it inpeople's faces and be like, I'm
gonna do what I want, fuck you,um, pushed her more and more
into what the music industry wasgoing after, anyways.

(49:12):
You know what I mean?
I felt like she didn't want tobecome this person, but with
everything kind of coming at herin the way that it has the last
12 months, yeah, that this nownew album called Man Child is
exactly what the music industryhas wanted.

(49:33):
And like, yeah, it's not evenit's not even the the
provocativeness or theeccentricness of like talking
about sex and how she talksabout sex.
Like, that's a dime a dozen.
You can find 50 million peoplethat do that every day.
It's the shitty music elementpart of it.

(49:54):
It's not good writing.
It's not good writing.
It is let me push you all of thethings that are gonna draw
people to be like, you're eithergonna be like, oh my god, I love
this, or oh my god, I'm going toburn down a church because
Sabrina Carpenter is too sexy.

SPEAKER_12 (50:13):
Like that I get she also something to understand,
and I might get heat for sendingthis.
I think she is very clever.
I think that she is very funny.
Like when you listen to somelike the song, like like Man
Child, and I said this from thebeginning, I don't think it's a
well-written song.
I think that's a good thing.

SPEAKER_05 (50:30):
I think that the music video is better than the
song.
I think it's a funny musicvideo.

SPEAKER_12 (50:34):
That's like I think that what she says is funny, but
she's not a songwriter.

SPEAKER_05 (50:40):
No, do you know what I mean?
She is though.

SPEAKER_12 (50:43):
You think so?

SPEAKER_05 (50:44):
Yes, because I at first I I so I listened to her
first ever album.
Don't ask me what the name of itwas.
I listened to two songs on it.

SPEAKER_12 (50:55):
Um, it is called Eyes Wide Open question mark.

SPEAKER_05 (51:00):
I listened to two songs on it, and the writing
style and elements, granted, shewas much younger, and she was a
Disney But the writing style andelements that went into that
album.

SPEAKER_12 (51:14):
Yeah, eyes wide open.

SPEAKER_05 (51:16):
She is a songwriter, and she's not like a great
songwriter.
I'm not gonna say that.

SPEAKER_12 (51:21):
Well, no, that's that's what I'm saying.

SPEAKER_05 (51:23):
Like she's a solid songwriter, yeah, and it doesn't
show in the bullshit she justput out, which brings me to
tears.
Probably the worst song everwritten.
That's I throw it right up therewith WAP as far as like it's

(51:44):
just dirty to be dirty.
That song is just meant to belike, hey, all of you Christian
people that were in an uproarover my album cover.
Guess what?
Here you go.
And honestly, though, but it'sjust to get that conversation
going.
That's all it's for.
It's for the discourse, it's forthe the camaraderie or not not

(52:09):
camaraderie, that's theopposite, the combativeness of
these two sides, people who aremore conservative and people who
are not.
We're not gonna use that otherword because people get in
trouble for saying things.
Um, you're just pushing thosetwo people against each other.
This song is not meant to doanything else, and there's no

(52:32):
one who can come on here andtruly argue with me that this
song is anything but that.
It's just I like it.
Sure, you can like it.

SPEAKER_12 (52:42):
Like, that's my thing.
Like, I never said that it waslike a a cra I yeah, I mean, I
felt that way with short andsweet too.
I just like the music.
Yeah, you I like it, I bop toit.
I think it's a good time.

SPEAKER_05 (52:52):
Yeah, like it, anyone can like it.
Yeah, anyone can come and saythat it's catchy, anyone can
have their opinion.
This is my opinion.
Um, yeah, no, I don't think Idon't think on any of the
albums.

SPEAKER_12 (53:05):
I don't no Juno, I like how Juno is written.

SPEAKER_05 (53:08):
It's it's a solid, yeah.

SPEAKER_12 (53:10):
I'll give Juno's a solid album.

SPEAKER_05 (53:12):
I would even say espresso is solidly written.
Yeah, but it's written, it's apop song, like it was written
for this purpose, and it servedthat purpose.
Yeah, um, like I said, I thinkthat taste, like the art
direction, like she is anartistic person, she's a
creative, like like she hastalent, yeah.

(53:33):
But this album in particular isthe void of talent, it's just
her controversy.

SPEAKER_12 (53:40):
What really bothers me is she I think is an
incredible singer, and and thisis why.
Her the past two albums havebeen like her higher voice, but
you listened to her first album, and like her lower voice and
like her, and I know talkingvoices and singing voices are
two different things, like I'mwell aware of this, but like I

(54:03):
don't know if you saw clips, Ishe is an incredible performer
too.
Like, she sings, and there's alot of performers performers out
there that just lip sync, right?
Like, we all know this.
She sings her music, and she dida cover of It's Raining Men, and
it was incredible, and everyonewas like, Oh, we didn't know

(54:26):
that she could do this, herlower register, we need more
songs like this.
Where did this Sabrina comefrom?
And it's all because all of youhave pushed her into this box.
Do you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_05 (54:39):
Like, she doesn't get to do the lower register,
she doesn't get to experienceshe doesn't get to experiment
and give her actual talents, andthat's where that's where I'm
coming from.
On like, I do think that she isa music industry plant in the
sense of like yeah, they havebuilt her as a product now, to

(55:01):
be, yeah.
She is a Hollywood product,yeah.
And whether or not she agrees isup to her.
Um but the masses are seeing it,it's it's hard to argue.

SPEAKER_11 (55:14):
Um, no, I agree.

SPEAKER_05 (55:15):
I'll tell you this, everyone that's listening and
Sabrina Carpenter fans that arelistening.
I hope you understand that I'mcoming from a place of just a
genuine music enthusiast andexamining it for what it is
musically.

SPEAKER_12 (55:30):
And I'm a Sabrina girly, I'm a Sabrina fan.

SPEAKER_05 (55:33):
But what I will say is the message that I I am in
the scene as far as like talkingto business owners and uh record
store owners and and musicians, and what they're calling this
album is just the filler to getthrough to the next Taylor Swift
album.
It's the same audience.

(55:55):
They're they're both of thoseart artists are captivating or
capturing the same audience, yeah, which is sad.
And her Man Child album is justthe filler for everyone to get
through to the new Taylor Swiftalbum, but that's coming from
the record companies.
That's what I'm saying.
That's from the people that areselling this stuff.
They're like, Yeah, I got in 30copies, we moved four of them.

(56:18):
We'll probably end up shippinghalf of them back because just
filler.

SPEAKER_12 (56:23):
Which is sad because she is so musically talented.
Absolutely, she she deserves.

SPEAKER_05 (56:30):
She needs to take a break.
She needs to take a break, yeah, and get rid of whoever it is
that's managing her.

SPEAKER_12 (56:38):
Because she and like I knew her beforehand because I
watched Girl Meets World.
I knew her music before shepopped off.
Um, and then she opened forTaylor Swift, and then everyone
was like, Who is this?
You know what I mean?
And then they put her on thiswhole pedestal.
And I agree that she I thinkthere was also pressure to get

(57:01):
this album out.
Yes, because she's she's at herhigh point, yeah.
So she's like, I need to getanother.

SPEAKER_05 (57:08):
If you're not out, if you're not making content,
you're not gonna be relevant.

SPEAKER_12 (57:12):
I know, which is so sad, and it's like it's the
reason I put this show out everyweek.
And like, I like I get it.
Not everybody can be Adele, noteverybody can be Taylor Swift,
you know what I mean, and takethose breaks and those times in
between.
Like, I get that.

SPEAKER_05 (57:27):
Um you can though, you can.
If you're if you're developingthe right audience, you can
that's the issue, and that'sthat's where my truly that's
where my issue with her lies, and and I know she's never gonna
hear this, but if she were to,Sabrina, my issue with you is

(57:47):
that you're not worrying aboutthe audience that you're
developing, yeah like you canhave longevity in this business
if you cultivate the rightaudience.
Yeah, Taylor Swift cultivatedthe right audience, yeah.
Adele, uh Beyoncé, the Beatle, and she also she's also like I'm

(58:15):
just saying they cultivated theright audience at the right
time.
Exactly.
If she puts in the right work, yeah, that audience will follow.

SPEAKER_12 (58:25):
And she's in the same room.
Well, no, I don't like TripleRoom.
Never mind.
I was gonna say, like, she'slike 25, 26.
You know what I mean?
She's so young.

SPEAKER_05 (58:36):
That like not in the music industry though.

SPEAKER_12 (58:39):
That's I know, but but for her to just like pop off
like that, like to have hermusic beforehand and then to
have her pop off, like I don'tknow.
Like to me, she's still soyoung.
And that was my thing withChaperone and Olivia Rodrigo
too.
Or like you guys are so likeyou're just trying to develop

(58:59):
her sound, you know what I mean?
Like, I feel like this is herfirst time with one so much
fame, right?
Like, so there's that, and thenalso like with I'm sure a big
record label.
I mean, I never looked into allof that, but it's like she went
from being a like a Disney musicstar, right?

(59:19):
And then having her her littlealbums in between, like Taylor
Swift came out the gate and thenhad, do you know what I mean?
Like, had the big record labelstarted doing those shows so
early to be able to work up towhere she is.

SPEAKER_05 (59:37):
Well, and I think that's the issue that we keep
talking about in the musicindustry, and it's an issue that
I'm finding more and moreartists um not willing to have
that conversation.
But there is an issue in theindustry right now, and it's
accessibility.
Yeah, you you can go to bed anobody and wake up a somebody,

(01:00:02):
yeah.
And that accessibility does notbuild and cultivate the right
artist.
Like, yeah, I agree.
You're not getting an audiencethat's gonna stand by you for
the next 30 years.
There are going to be somepeople, you are going to build
like like you're gonna have anaudience, you know what I mean?

(01:00:23):
But it will dwindle over time, you're gonna have that spike and
it will dwindle over time.
Yeah, you don't have that withthe Beatles and ACDC and Led
Zeppelin and Queen and PinkFloyd, and I can continue going
on and on, Aerosmith, I mean, stained.
Like there are so many artiststhat are they just they did the

(01:00:52):
right thing at the right time.
Time and a lot of it is luck, but a lot of it's hard work.
And I'm not saying that thesepeople aren't working hard.
I'm not saying that they're nothardworking artists.

SPEAKER_12 (01:01:03):
No, it's just like you But it's night and day.
Like yeah, like you like theyare over sensation.
That's what I was gonna say.
It's they had time to work up,develop their sound, like find
their audience, find theirniche, do all these things, and
and people are just waking up.

(01:01:23):
I mean, literally, OliviaRodrigo had one hit, and then
she is now a major pop star.
And it's like and and it'shappening to people so young.

SPEAKER_05 (01:01:36):
But the thing is, is like the diehard Olivia fans
will tell you that no, she'sbeen working at this for like 10
years.
You know what I mean?
Like, like those diehard fanswere there at the beginning, and
I'm not saying that their theiropinions are valid, like they
were there, they existed.

SPEAKER_12 (01:01:53):
But there's a difference between the drops.
Yeah, there's a differencebetween playing like shows that
like open mic nights, and youknow what I mean, like things
like that.
Like, that's to then the nextday wake up and be like, Oh, I
have all these fans, and now I'mgoing to make an entire tour and

(01:02:14):
I'm going to sell up stadiums.

SPEAKER_05 (01:02:16):
Well, that that's my the other issue, in my opinion,
is it's become less about thecontent, yeah, more about the
image.
And I hate that.
And that that's been the musicindustry for the last years.
Yeah, it has slowly become lessabout the content and more about

(01:02:37):
what is the image that you aregoing to portray.
Yeah, how can we market what youlook like?
Yeah, and that sucks.
You see very, very few artiststhat come out with some real
deep shit that can withstand thetest of time.
Lewis Capaldi, I would say, islike an artist who can withstand

(01:03:00):
the test of time with hiswriting.

SPEAKER_12 (01:03:02):
I with that, I was gonna say Alex Warren too.
I don't know if you've looked atthe world.
Warren's a great drama going onright now.

SPEAKER_05 (01:03:11):
Yeah.
Um, I would say uh that one guythat you like, Khalid.

SPEAKER_12 (01:03:17):
Yes, I think it's Khaled.
I say I say Khalid because it'sit I don't know, to me it's
better.

SPEAKER_05 (01:03:22):
But I think it's I don't know because I don't
listen to it.
But I I from what I agree I'velistened to, yeah, he is going
to withstand the test of time.

SPEAKER_12 (01:03:31):
Like yeah, because he I mean he literally has maybe
four albums.

SPEAKER_05 (01:03:35):
There are just certain people who will
withstand it, but I I just thinkthat pop music as a whole is
going so far south.

SPEAKER_12 (01:03:47):
Yeah, I agree.

SPEAKER_05 (01:03:48):
And I think that this particular Sabrina
Carpenter album just feeds intothat cesspool of the ether, and
it doesn't stand out.
And I am not a Sabrina fan, butI did do the work, I did listen,
I didn't.

SPEAKER_12 (01:04:03):
I also I mean, I am a Sabrina fan, and I agree.
It's not something that standsout, like it's not something
totally different.
I said that was our last album.
It's a fun listen.
I also love pop music.
We all know this.
I love music that sounds thesame.
It it makes me feel warm andfuzzy inside, so I try to look
for that same sound, but it'snot something that's like and

(01:04:25):
and for anyone who wants toattack me, please.

SPEAKER_05 (01:04:27):
I do welcome it, but um understand that I also listen
to super shitty music.
I'd be the first one to tellyou.
Yeah, like it's just it's youlike what you like, and that is
okay.
It is just my my job tocommentate on this particular
album.
Like that's what we do here.
Um, so I hope that it's not toomuch of a dig.

(01:04:50):
And if you're a fan, please be afan.
Don't let my opinion sway you atall.

SPEAKER_12 (01:04:55):
No, but I like I mean, I am a fan and I have the
same observation.
Like, you can be a fan and thenbe like, well, yeah, like it's
it's I want to see her dobetter.

SPEAKER_05 (01:05:04):
I want to see her be successful and do better, and I
think that comes from a place ofof love for the industry and
love of music.

SPEAKER_12 (01:05:12):
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, me too, because it she hasa dinner.
Yeah, she's so talented.

SPEAKER_05 (01:05:19):
I will say I have been on the record saying I I
think she's got a couple yearsleft.

SPEAKER_12 (01:05:24):
Uh probably.

SPEAKER_05 (01:05:26):
I don't want that, but it's just how it feels.

SPEAKER_12 (01:05:30):
What I would love.
I would love to for her to getback into acting.

SPEAKER_05 (01:05:36):
I'd like to see that.

SPEAKER_12 (01:05:37):
She's a great actress, guys.
And everyone keeps liketiptoeing around that.
Like they forget that thatthat's where she came from.
She's a fantastic actress.
So I wanted her to get back intothat too.

SPEAKER_05 (01:05:52):
That was uh that was a super solid discussion on it.
I I enjoyed the the friendlybanter.

SPEAKER_12 (01:05:59):
Me too.
I mean, we agreed.

SPEAKER_05 (01:06:01):
I don't know if we did, but we also had some
disagreements, I think.
You know?

SPEAKER_12 (01:06:07):
Yeah.
Yeah.

SPEAKER_05 (01:06:12):
Sorry, my pro's a little dry.

SPEAKER_12 (01:06:14):
You're okay.
My eyes are a little heavy.

SPEAKER_05 (01:06:17):
I I know you want to eat some food.
I'd like to go eat some food.
So thanks for hanging out,buddy.

SPEAKER_12 (01:06:24):
Yeah, anytime.
Thanks for uh yapping with me.
I have um when we do a shownext, I want to talk about the
Alex Warren drama.
So everyone stay tuned.

SPEAKER_05 (01:06:33):
Everyone already knows about it, but by the time
this comes out and whateverepisode you're talking about
comes out, it'll it'll be longover.

SPEAKER_12 (01:06:41):
Honestly, I I hope so, and I hope it gets figured
out because it gets me fired up.

SPEAKER_05 (01:06:45):
Okay.
I don't know.
Like it's not what's going on.

SPEAKER_12 (01:06:47):
Do you really not?

SPEAKER_02 (01:06:49):
I have no idea.

SPEAKER_12 (01:06:50):
Oh, what time is it?
Can I can it be like afive-minute?
Can I just fill you in reallyquick?
Forget it.

SPEAKER_01 (01:06:55):
Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_12 (01:06:56):
So Alex Warren has been on tour for like a while
now, right?
Um, he was supposed to play thissome festival, I think it was in
Canada, but I could be wrongabout that.
And it was like a smallerfestival, but he was like the
bigger name, right?
And months ago, he had told hisrecord or his label, whatever it

(01:07:20):
is, management, he was like, guys, I am not doing well
mentally.
Like this, this has been a lot.
I miss my house, I miss my wife.
Like, like I won't, I just needa break.
Like, just give me a few days.
And they're like, Okay, this iswhen we can sweeper break it.
And it was during the time ofthat festival.
So he reached out to them and hewas like, Hey, again, not doing

(01:07:41):
well mentally.
And he's been very open abouthis mental health.
And he was like, I like I'm notgoing to be able to do this.
I'm so sorry.
And he also, I think, wassupposed to be on some talk show
too, and that also got canceled, right?
And so this was and so it was awhole thing.
I don't know, actually, I don'tknow if it got canceled or not.
But he ends up going home.

SPEAKER_03 (01:08:00):
The festival didn't tell the people that he had
happened all the time.

SPEAKER_12 (01:08:07):
So so I agree, I agree, but bands also drop out
of festivals all the time.
You know what I mean?
Like things come up, they can'tmake it.
This is not new.
However, the the festival made apublic announcement bashing him
and saying that he made otherarrangements that were more

(01:08:31):
important, and then put out thetalk show that he was supposed
to be on, and pretty much waslike he doesn't care about his
audience fully bashing it.
Like it was awful.
So his management was like, heyman, don't say anything, don't
say anything, don't sayanything.
And he's like, No, I'm gonna saysomething.
He's like, This is wild thatyou're not saying something.

(01:08:52):
So he went on TikTok and he madea post and he said, Hey guys,
just letting you know whatthey're saying isn't true.
This was discussed months ago.
I didn't just drop out the nightbefore.
Like, went through this wholespiel, and he was like, I just
wanted to be home.
Like, I just wanted to come homefor a couple of nights, and
everyone also was like thinkingthat maybe his wife was

(01:09:14):
pregnant, and that's why hewanted I don't know how true
that is, that's justspeculation.
But it makes me so mad becausethen like Dylan and I were just
talking about the other day, like Avici he himself, and it's
like you we lose these theseincredible musicians because no
one is understanding the total, like you think about having to

(01:09:34):
leave your wife and kid formonths, and like it that takes a
lot on you.
Like, just let the man go home, and also I'll sorry, go ahead.

SPEAKER_05 (01:09:45):
Well, I was gonna say they also like they're
they're doing their job.
Imagine, imagine if every dayyou were doing your job, people
watched you do your job, wantedto talk to you about your job,
wanted to tell you how your jobchanged their life, and like
just constantly talk about yourwork non-stop forever.

(01:10:09):
Like, granted, they get to dotheir job, right?
It's music, like it's it's yeah, thing, but like we do forget
that these people like arepeople, and it becomes their job
when they're gone six months ayear on these tours doing the
same show for you and 50,000other people every night, yeah,

(01:10:30):
doing it the exact same way, andthen 30,000 of you say, Oh, it
wasn't as good as this city, like like and that's my thing,
and it's crazy and sounprofessional.

SPEAKER_12 (01:10:44):
Yeah, it's awful, and it's it's so wild to me that
like that I'm gonna have to findit and send it to you.
I I think they took it downbecause they got a lot of
backlash.
Um, but then but then so manypeople are like, Well, you still
had an obligation to your fans, and I'm like, you know, if
you're a real fan, I I can'tbecause also granted the people

(01:11:05):
who bought the tickets for thefestival, they didn't get a
refund, they bought it for afestival.
So that's like odd.
You should have known you shouldhave known that like anyone can
drop out of a festival at anytime, it doesn't matter how big,
small, the name, like it just iswhat it is.
But like the show, because hecanceled his own shows too, they
all got their money back, right?

(01:11:26):
And like that, I'm sure havefirst come, first serve when it
gets rebooked.
Do you know what I mean?
Yeah, yeah, and it's things likethat.
Like, he did everything right, and to have this festival bash
him like that, and then to haveother people be like, Well,
yeah, you need to just get overit.
That's wild, and it makes myheart so sad because he is so

(01:11:47):
talented.
That's like he and he genuinelycares about his fans.
Like he, I don't know.
Like anywho, it gets my bloodgoing.
It really does, because it makesme so mad.

SPEAKER_05 (01:11:59):
Well, if if you've hung out this long, um, stay
tuned for an extra 20-ishminutes and and hear how Taylor
quit the show.
Literally.
Uh all right, let's do thepromos and and get out of here,
buddy.

SPEAKER_12 (01:12:16):
Yeah, thank thanks for letting me hang out, buddy.
If you like today's episode andyou're so you're surprised I'm

Um, yeah, she, you know, it's been it's been
heading that way.
Um, but she has decided to stepaway.
Um, she'll still pop on onoccasion whenever she has the
time, and she'll still do someside stuff here and there with
us.
Um me and Taylor are cool.

(01:14:44):
There's been no no bad blood oranything.
Um but Chris, you ready to pickup the mantle as the official
co-host of the show?

SPEAKER_00 (01:14:55):
I have to get a pretty sweet wig.
I'll be the other Taylor.
Oh, that that does suck.
I was just talking to uh Kennyand Chelleck the other day, and
Kenny was like, you know, it'snice to have everybody
everybody's different.
All three of us.

(01:15:15):
It's so that was that was nice.

SPEAKER_05 (01:15:18):
Yeah.
Um, but like we've said before,we are expanding.
So uh there's a guy named Ronthat Chris met recently that
will be joining the show more.
Um as long as his schedule linesup, he's gonna be in the
background kind of doing thosesound effects and and handling

(01:15:38):
like the the logistics sides ofthings, um handling like uh like
the media type stuff, you knowwhat I mean?

SPEAKER_03 (01:15:47):
Because he's just he's super good at that stuff,
and I am not, he's cool.
Um but yeah, our our cook andbridge podcast team is
expanding.
And uh, you know, down the road, who knows?
Um but yeah, it is official, man.
It's it's you and me, it's youand me, brother.

SPEAKER_05 (01:16:10):
Um, so yeah, that's the big news.
That's sad, sad day.

SPEAKER_00 (01:16:16):
Sad day.
Yeah, I couldn't have I couldn'thave faked that surprise.
So thank you for not telling mebefore you know before
recording.
I was like, come on, what is it?
What is it?
That's not what I was hopingfor.

SPEAKER_05 (01:16:27):
Yeah, yeah, it's you know, it's sad, it's
unfortunate, but I I get it.
She's you know, she's 24, she'syou know, figuring things out
down there, and it's not thatshe doesn't want to do it, it's
just that her life in Floridahas become more important than
doing the show, and that's allright, you know what I mean.

SPEAKER_00 (01:16:49):
It's Taylor, if you're listening, which I know
you don't listen to the show.
I listen to the show.
How could you abandon me?
I thought we were gonna startour own thing and kick Harley
off.

SPEAKER_05 (01:17:01):
I wonder if she'll start listening now.
I doubt it, I highly doubt it.
Um, but yeah, the audience isgonna be sad.
It's a sad day, but it'll be allright.
We're gonna have so much fun,we're gonna do a ton of fun
stuff on here.
Um, you and I we hit it off, man.
We're we're golden.
Um, so yeah, it's it's gonna beit's gonna be some tough shoes

(01:17:24):
to fill, man.
But you're you're doing a greatjob.

SPEAKER_00 (01:17:28):
Just don't ask me to do the uh this list this list
that's all you're getting.
That's it.

SPEAKER_05 (01:17:36):
I I told her I told her on the phone today because
so she's not gonna hear it, so Idon't care.
Um, so full disclosure, I calledher.
So I texted her yesterday.
I was like, hey, just confirming7 p.m.
same time we've done it, threeyears in a row, same day.
She was like, Yeah, yeah, we'regood, we're good.
Then today she's like, Hey, canwe do 8 p.m.?

(01:17:59):
Because I'm gonna go to dinnerwith Dylan.
And I was like, working, so Ididn't answer.
And then later in the day, Iget, hey, actually, I think
we're going out as a family, sowe may have to reschedule.
I didn't answer.
So then I call her on my wayhome, and she's sitting in the
pool drinking with Dylan's momand this party town.

(01:18:24):
She's like, Yeah, I'm gonna tryto be back by eight.
I was like, buddy, it's just notgonna happen.
There's no way you're not gonnago out and get home by eight.
It's just not gonna happen.

SPEAKER_00 (01:18:36):
I was like, it's uh I don't blame her.
I mean, I'd love to be drinkingin a pool.

SPEAKER_05 (01:18:43):
I agree.
Like, uh, I did tell her, I waslike, you know what's funny?
I said, if you want to feel bad,I said, I asked both you and
Chris the same question, can wedo a show today?
And your response was yes, followed by no, followed by
maybe, followed by no.
And then uh that was Taylor'sresponse.

(01:19:04):
Then Chris's response was yes, what are conversation topics,
and let me research those topicstoday.
Don't make her hate me.
I was like, he's just a betterco-host.
I was like, because she was shealways jokes around.
She's always like, Do you thinkChris is a better sister than

(01:19:25):
me?
And I was like, No, but he'sdefinitely a better co-host.
Oh man.
No, she's cool, she's cool.
She she totally she was like,Yeah, she I think her whole
thing is she just doesn't wantto upset me by saying, Yeah, I'm
just not really into it anymore.

(01:19:46):
Um, and that's fine, you knowwhat I mean?
Like it she doesn't want toupset me, but I was like, it's
not gonna hurt my feelings ifyou're not into it, you're not
into it.
You know what I mean?
Show will always go on.
Um speaking of that was a crazyarticle you sent me a little bit
ago.
Speaking of bad, sad news.
Yeah, walk us through whathappened.

SPEAKER_00 (01:20:10):
Oh I mean, I didn't I I read enough to be like, oh
my goodness.

SPEAKER_05 (01:20:15):
So uh that's why I was panning it to you because I
also read enough to be like, ohmy goodness.

SPEAKER_00 (01:20:21):
Yeah.
So uh I was once again, like allmy news, I get it on iFunny, and
I was like, This can't be real.
Someone's just making this up.
So the song uh songwriter BrettJames, among three, killed in
small plane crash in NorthCarolina.
Um he wrote Jesus Take theWheel.

SPEAKER_05 (01:20:44):
Yeah, and I was like the co-writer with Carrie
Underwood on that song.

SPEAKER_00 (01:20:49):
Oh, possibly.
I just know that song makes megood cry, so Jesus Takes the
Wheel.

SPEAKER_05 (01:20:58):
Is your good cry song?

SPEAKER_00 (01:21:01):
Well, I never listened to it on purpose and
always hit you like sometimes.

SPEAKER_05 (01:21:05):
Sometimes I forget that you are like a good
old-fashioned red-bloodedChristian American.

SPEAKER_00 (01:21:16):
Um, some of those things are true.

SPEAKER_05 (01:21:18):
They do have red blood, and uh I've never been
hit by a religious song.
Like, I don't know why.
They've just never really hitme.
I mean, Amazing Grace gets me,but that's like I don't know,
it's amazing grace.
You know what I mean?

(01:21:38):
Is the do have you ever heardthe song The Christmas Shoes?

SPEAKER_00 (01:21:43):
I've told you this a million times.
I do not know songs by names.
Like if you play it, I'd belike, Oh hell yeah, I love that
song.

SPEAKER_05 (01:21:51):
Oh, if only I was allowed.
Um, I can't even sing it.
Um, because I don't know it thatwell.

SPEAKER_00 (01:21:57):
I was gonna say, I'm sure you don't sing it well
enough to strike.

SPEAKER_05 (01:22:00):
So no, I just don't know the words, but that I just
I don't know if that song isconsidered a Christian song or
not.
What's it called that one?
It's called The Christmas Shoes.
Um, but that one, dude, you wantto talk about a song that'll
pull at your heartstrings.
Oh my god.

SPEAKER_00 (01:22:19):
Related to the movie?

SPEAKER_05 (01:22:21):
Yes, yeah.
I believe it was written.
No, I believe the song camefirst.

SPEAKER_00 (01:22:28):
Well, I'm gonna tell you right now, I'm gonna love
the movie.
It's got Rob Lowe in it.

SPEAKER_05 (01:22:32):
Yeah, yeah, dude.
The dog, dude, that movie's sadas fuck.
That was a bad that's a bad one.
That's that's uh that's a sadass movie.
Um yeah, uh I don't know if it'sa if it's a well, it's a
Christmas song, and the theholiday of Christmas is related
to Christ in turn would make ita Christian song, right?

SPEAKER_00 (01:22:57):
Uh I think Frosty the Snowman.
I mean, reference Christmas inthat.
Honestly, I don't know Frostythe Snowman well enough.

SPEAKER_05 (01:23:07):
Rudolph the red nosed reindeer is is a hymn.

SPEAKER_00 (01:23:14):
I don't know, man.
You're the music expert.

SPEAKER_05 (01:23:17):
I'm just thinking, like, in in Christmas, we
celebrate Christmas um for thecelebration of Christ, which is
Christianity.
Um, so therefore, Santa Claus iscoming to town is a religious

(01:23:39):
hymn.

SPEAKER_00 (01:23:40):
I I get I mean you you can look at it however you
want this day and age.

SPEAKER_05 (01:23:45):
Two degrees of uh separation or whatever they say.
Um dude, I forget what was I?
I was just talking to somebodyabout uh about something
relating to something like that.
What the hell was it?
I can't remember.
Um oh well, it must not be thatimportant.

(01:24:05):
Uh you'll text me about itlater.
You'll be like, this isabsolutely will.
Um no, I was definitely I wasdefinitely talking to somebody
about uh something beingsomething because oh oh
Christmas movies.
Um, I was talking to Taylorabout it.
Um, we were talking about uhGremlins.
Gremlins is a Christmas movie.

(01:24:28):
Do you agree?

SPEAKER_00 (01:24:31):
No.
Why?
Just because it just because ithappens around Christmas.
I mean, so the argument is likemovies that have Christmas in
it.
One argument is it automaticallymakes it a Christmas movie,
right?
Diehard.
Diehard.
I mean, I agree with the diehardthough, but hear me out, hear me

(01:24:51):
out, right?

SPEAKER_05 (01:24:54):
I heard the argument that the Harry Potter universe
has Christmas, the wizardscelebrate Christmas, but only in
the first, third, and fourthmovies.
So I do consider the first, third, and fourth Harry Potter
movies Christmas movies.

(01:25:15):
Yeah.
But I'm gonna turn you around onGremlins.
You ready?

SPEAKER_00 (01:25:20):
Okay.

SPEAKER_05 (01:25:20):
So let's take the idea of the world saying that
Christmas movies have to involveChristmas in some capacity in
the movie, they happen aroundChristmas time, like Die Hard,
right?
Gremlins takes it a step furtherbecause the Mogwai is a

(01:25:42):
Christmas present, theycelebrate Christmas in the
movie.
The entire plot of the movierevolves around Christmas,
technically.

SPEAKER_00 (01:25:55):
Yeah, I guess.

SPEAKER_05 (01:25:57):
So then I consider it a Christmas movie.

SPEAKER_00 (01:26:02):
I mean, I'm always down with new and exciting
Christmas movies.

SPEAKER_05 (01:26:06):
Uh, I think that I should be able to sit down and
watch Gremlins and the Frostythe Snowman claymation movie in
the same afternoon.
Why not?
You're an adult.

SPEAKER_00 (01:26:17):
This is America.

SPEAKER_05 (01:26:19):
This is America.
Um, but yeah, that was our thatwas our conversation the other
day, was talking about Christmasmovies, and then we got into
like the weeds of like, okay, well, this movie has Christmas.
Okay, well, this movie hasChristmas.
So yeah, I think Gremlins is aChristmas movie and Jurassic
Park is a horror film.

(01:26:42):
Oh man.
Um, so speaking of horror films,we had uh we had a live show
recently, you and I.
Yes, over at Frank's MonsterMunchies in Cantina.

SPEAKER_00 (01:26:55):
Yes.
Shout out Frank.
It's a mouthful.
Frank's is awesome.

(01:27:16):

The 8th of October, we will beback over there doing another
live show.
So definitely come out and hangout with us.
But no, it was great.
I had a blast.

(01:27:38):
Um, full disclosure, because I Ilove my audience and I'm not
gonna lie to them.
No one showed up.
I wasn't going to say it.
I I I argued with myself onwhether or not I was gonna say
it, but they deserve to know.
Zero people showed up to thefirst live show over there.
I don't know if it was the thetime, I don't know if it was

(01:28:01):
lack of advertising.
Uh it it it was a Wednesday,it's in the middle of the week.
Like there are a lot ofvariables for sure.
Um, I think this next one'sgonna be a lot better.
Uh, but even with nobody but usand the staff, we still had a

(01:28:21):
blast.

SPEAKER_00 (01:28:22):
Yeah, I I yeah, that was that was fun.
That was fun.
The uh the family that owns wasyeah, they sat down, talked to
us.
Yeah, it was awesome.

SPEAKER_05 (01:28:34):
Yeah, you did a great job.
Um you stop.
Uh yeah, you you did a greatjob.
Your wife did a fantastic jobfilming.

SPEAKER_00 (01:28:46):
Almost.
She kept turning the phone, andI was like, oh goodness.
Babe, you got to put it onscreen lock or something.
I mean, I don't know what you'redoing.

SPEAKER_05 (01:28:56):
The so far, the one video that I did put up on our
Instagram page was perfect.
The in she caught the introperfectly, and then you turn and
look at the camera and she zoomsin on you and you make a funny
face.
It's the perfect clip uh topromote what we do.
It was awesome.
No, she didn't she did a greatjob, fantastic job.

(01:29:19):
Um, but no, it's it's gonna be agreat time the next time, too.
Um, what uh what would you saywas like your favorite part of
the live show?

SPEAKER_00 (01:29:31):
Oh man.
Honestly, with five kids and mymother-in-law in the house, it
was just nice to get out of thehouse and not go to work.
Um I don't know, it was it washonestly hearing their opinions.

(01:29:55):
Like talking to them was great.
Like, yeah, like that it I wantto say it was them, they made it
great.

SPEAKER_05 (01:30:04):
Yeah, I love um I love the audience banter, I love
involving and and askingquestions.
Um I think right right in thebeginning would be my favorite
part when we were just askingthe bar staff about podcasts and
stuff.
Like I I love getting like thecrowd work of it in, you know

(01:30:25):
what I mean?
Yeah.
Um I like uh I like that kind ofcomedy as well.
So getting any chance to presentsome crowd work, I'm in.

SPEAKER_00 (01:30:35):
Yeah.
Yeah, everybody everybody missedit.
Harley, uh Harley confessed hislove for the island boys.
Who did I confuse them with?
I still don't know.
The Suicide Boys?

SPEAKER_05 (01:30:51):
Yes, I gotta look up.
Who the hell that is.
Me too.

SPEAKER_00 (01:30:55):
I'm gonna do it right now.
I'll leave it on one of my uhI'll leave it on one of my
browsers, one of my 136.

SPEAKER_05 (01:31:02):
Dude, I was so convinced that's who they were
talking about.
You knew it immediately.

SPEAKER_00 (01:31:07):
That was great.
As soon as they said boys, myfirst thought was Suicide Boys.
And I'm like, oh.
Or no, the island boys.
The island boys.

SPEAKER_05 (01:31:14):
Yeah, that was the I could see them in my head and
their like fucked up hair andteeth.
And I was like, really?
That's who you're gonna go paymoney to see?

SPEAKER_00 (01:31:23):
They they they kind of remind me of uh of like a
whitewashed was it theApplejacks?
Yes, the the cinnamon, thecinnamon stick guy, like that's
what they're reminding me.

SPEAKER_05 (01:31:38):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, it's like oh oh they'rethey're uh they're an
interesting.
I want to know what they'redoing right now.
Are they still like around?

SPEAKER_00 (01:32:19):
I just saw a picture of the baby.

SPEAKER_05 (01:32:21):
I thought she was I thought she was kidding.
I don't know the situation.
I'm not going to go deep intoit, but I thought she was
kidding on what she said at theshow.

SPEAKER_00 (01:32:33):
No, it's but I'm looking at the picture.
She was fucking spot on, dude.

SPEAKER_05 (01:32:40):
What that's that's something.
That's something.
Interesting.
Okay, I'm not diving into thiswhirlwind.

SPEAKER_00 (01:32:55):
Don't act like you didn't just take the poster down

SPEAKER_05 (01:33:00):
Yeah, you like the renovations?
I look like I'm in a prisoncell, man.

SPEAKER_00 (01:33:07):
Oh, yeah, you're definitely in some kind of
insane asylum padded room.
Yeah, yeah.
What's odd?
That's the casting couch.
Yes, probably.
That's probably what this roomwas for.
Hey guys, how do you think I gotthe job?

SPEAKER_05 (01:33:25):
Uh I will say that this shot of the studio right
now is the cleanest shot of thestudio.
The rest of it is real badbehind me.

SPEAKER_00 (01:33:37):
I was gonna say, you you I can still see a bottle of
or an open bottle of barbecuesauce on the couch.
What's up with that, Harley?

SPEAKER_05 (01:33:46):
I I put barbecue sauce on my titties.
That's my thing.
I don't believe you.
Prove it.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
