The rising sign is the literal most beginning part of your
story and is why knowing that your time of birth is also vital

sign was rising on the eastern horizon.
And that sign is the sign that becomes your ascendant.
The ascendant indicates the toneof your entry into the world.
It's the energy that greeted you.
It's the conditions that shaped you upon your very first breath.

So let's start with that. Let's find your rising sign.
You'll need 3 exact pieces of birth information #1 date of
birth #2 place of birth. So the city and the country and
#3 as close to possible your exact time of birth, ideally

sourced from your birth certificate or a hospital
record. And the time of birth is really
what makes the difference because the ascendant changes
signs roughly every two hours. So a birth time difference of 15
to 20 minutes can shift it quiteenormously.
So you'll want to use a trusted astrology chart calculator.

My most favorite and reliable and often trusted site is
astro.com. If you have your birth
certificate, check it to see if it does include the time of
birth. And if it doesn't, you can
sometimes obtain it through yourlocal vital records office or
just the General Hospital archives.

And once you have that info and once you are on astro.com, enter
your birth date, your birthplace, and your time of
birth, and then the program willcalculate your full Natal chart.
Your rising sign will appear near the top left hand side of
the information and it will say something like ascendant and

then it will say the sign. And of course then there's the
visual chart, the wheel that shows your ascendant or your
first house cast on the left of that wheel and that is where you
will find the sign. So take a screenshot and have
that visual as you are listeningand take a look at the left side

of your Natal wheel, there will be 3 letters ASC, which stands
for Ascendant. And whichever sign that that ASC
line intersects through that is your rising sign.
Now if your birth time is unknown, you might benefit from
(04:45):
having your chart rectified. And most professional
astrologers can do this using major life events like big
moves, big career changes, relationships, and family
milestones. And it helps Orient your chart
to determine what is actually your true ascending sign.
And so if you don't know your birth time and you want help

searching for this on your own. It is called chart
rectification, and just make sure the information you use is
from reputable astrologers. Once you've found your rising
sign, make a note of it. It may or may not be the same as
your sun sign. I've seen that in many charts

Your Sun describes who you are at your core, and then your
rising sign describes how you fit into this world and how you

House of income. So your income can change every

So it's your rising sign that reflects your birth portal.
The rising sign is the literal most beginning part of your
story and is why knowing that your time of birth is also vital
(02:10):
in astrology because at the verymoment you were born, a specific
sign was rising on the eastern horizon.
And that sign is the sign that becomes your ascendant.
The ascendant indicates the toneof your entry into the world.
It's the energy that greeted you.
It's the conditions that shaped you upon your very first breath.

And so this episode has a littlebit of an interactive element to
it where you will want to discover your rising sign.
So let's start with that. Let's find your rising sign.
You'll need 3 exact pieces of birth information #1 date of
birth #2 place of birth. So the city and the country and
#3 as close to possible your exact time of birth, ideally
(02:58):
sourced from your birth certificate or a hospital
record. And the time of birth is really
what makes the difference because the ascendant changes
signs roughly every two hours. So a birth time difference of 15
to 20 minutes can shift it quiteenormously.
So you'll want to use a trusted astrology chart calculator.

My most favorite and reliable and often trusted site is
astro.com. If you have your birth
certificate, check it to see if it does include the time of
birth. And if it doesn't, you can
sometimes obtain it through yourlocal vital records office or
just the General Hospital archives.

And once you have that info and once you are on astro.com, enter
your birth date, your birthplace, and your time of
birth, and then the program willcalculate your full Natal chart.
Your rising sign will appear near the top left hand side of
the information and it will say something like ascendant and
(04:03):
then it will say the sign. And of course then there's the
visual chart, the wheel that shows your ascendant or your
first house cast on the left of that wheel and that is where you
will find the sign. So take a screenshot and have
that visual as you are listeningand take a look at the left side
(04:24):
of your Natal wheel, there will be 3 letters ASC, which stands
for Ascendant. And whichever sign that that ASC
line intersects through that is your rising sign.
Now if your birth time is unknown, you might benefit from
(04:45):
having your chart rectified. And most professional
astrologers can do this using major life events like big
moves, big career changes, relationships, and family
milestones. And it helps Orient your chart
to determine what is actually your true ascending sign.
And so if you don't know your birth time and you want help
with that, I have included the rectification reading in the
(05:07):
show notes below. Or maybe you can just embark on
searching for this on your own. It is called chart
rectification, and just make sure the information you use is
from reputable astrologers. Once you've found your rising
sign, make a note of it. It may or may not be the same as
your sun sign. I've seen that in many charts
(05:28):
across time, and both the Sun and the Ascendant work together.
Your Sun describes who you are at your core, and then your
rising sign describes how you fit into this world and how you
arrived in the world too. So if you are a fire rising
sign, that is Aries, Leo or Sagittarius rising, then your
(05:52):
entry into the world may have carried some heat or some speed
or some intensity and your birthmay have happened suddenly.
You may have been born earlier than expected, or your birth
might have involved some quick decisions and some strong
physical effort. The delivery room may have been
loud, it may have been rushed. It may have been full of people,

bright lights, raised voices, and a big sense of movement and
urgency. And it's possible that you
arrived fast. And then life has likely
followed that same kind of rhythm where you take action 1st
and reflect later. If you are an Earth rising sign,

so that's Taurus, Virgo, or Capricorn, then your birth may
have unfolded slowly and much more methodically.
It might have been a long labor and overdue arrival or one of
those births that needed to be planned or maybe even medically
managed. And the environment was likely
more stable and organized, even if it required, you know,

endurance. You did enter the world on your
own time and it was very grounded and deliberate and set
this steady tone that often continues throughout your life.
If you are an air rising sign, so air signs are Gemini, Libra
and Aquarius, then your arrival may have been surrounded by

motion and change. So maybe plans shifted at the
last minute, maybe a different doctor, a new hospital, or your
birth happens at a very unexpected time of day.
There may have been lots of conversation and people moving
in and out, lots of decisions orcircumstances that just felt

literally while someone else is talking or thinking or making a

change. So therefore you learned to
value stability while you were actually craving new
experiences. And this came through balancing
loyalty with innovation. And if you are Pisces rising,

mentally active. Like you learned to listen very
deeply and you sensed the tone beneath the words, the things
that were being left unsaid. And maybe you chose to retreat
into imagination when things felt overstimulating.

part of yourself development is to take that coping pattern that
you learnt and turn it into something that is a conscious
choice. Those very same instincts that

Gemini rising, you go from fixing everything for everyone
to trusting and following curiosity and not feeling like
you have to always problem solve.
You can just enjoy information for whatever that information
is. Cancer Rising, you go from
appeasing others and treading onegg shells to this really honest

expression. Leo Rising, You go from
emotional intensity and secrecy and transformation to emotional
openness and trust. Virgo Rising You move from
freedom and belief systems to grounded truth and moral
personal integrity. Libra Rising This is a

transition from over responsibility and growing up
way too fast, and that turns into balanced partnerships and
shared support. Scorpio Rising You move from
unconventional, unpredictable, emotionally detached energies
and you turn that into stable, genuine emotional connection.
Sagittarius Rising The lesson goes from escapism and blurred

boundaries and maybe even substance issues to grounded
clarity and embodied honesty. Capricorn rising this goes from
self-reliance and independence. You turn that in to being a
powerful leader. For Aquarius rising it's going
from materialism and comfort focused energy to authentic

from over stimulation and being mentally busy to focus and inner
peace with information. So maybe you're starting to see
how the rising sign is the lens through which you see reality.
It's how you perceive life. It's the filter through which

And it does act like a clock face.

It looks like a clock face. There are even 12 slices.
And that clock face is the layout for your life story.

The orientation of that clock from the point of the ascendant
determines the timing of when certain life themes come to the
forefront and how they tend to unfold.
So whatever sign is your rising sign, that's kind of like the
second birthday that you could celebrate, so the season of the

Zodiac sign as your ascendant. And that can actually be
pinpointed down to a day, but it's a time of increasing
energy. It's the sign where you bloom,
whereas the sign before it wouldindicate lesser energy.
And so it's that ascendant that sets up the tempo of your

evolution, of what you experience and when you
experience it. When a planet in transit in real
time to the planets as they are now in the sky, when they form a
major aspect to your ascendant, especially the slower planets
like Jupiter and Saturn and Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, then a

visible life shift can. And I'm going to go as far as
saying will happen. And this is because the
Ascendant represents you, your body, your approach, the way
life unfolds and what you learnt.
So transits to your Ascendant coincide with tangible turning
(23:48):
points in life. The Ascendant organizes the
story arc. It's what determines which
Zodiac signs and therefore whichplanets rules each of your 12
houses. And it's understanding the order
of those planetary rulers that creates your personal sequence
of growth and rhythm. For example, if you are a Cancer
(24:11):
rising, it's highly possible that the sun rules your second
House of income. So your income can change every
year from your birthday onwards.It's an annual sun based cycle
of money. Now, if the moon rules your
second house, so if you are a Gemini rising, then your

finances can fluctuate every month.
It's literally 28 days and then your current money cycle shifts.
There's change fluctuates so frequently.
But over here on the other side of it, if Saturn rules your
second house, so that's you. If you are a Sagittarius rising

or whatever rising you might have for the back a couple of
degrees to have Capricorn on your second house, then your
money works in 3 1/2 year cycles. 3.5 years is what it
takes for your finances to make the biggest shifts.
And I think I'll probably go on to do a whole episode about what

starting to understand everything else in your chart.
And my best, maybe weirdest way to describe this is imagining it
like the track list of an album and all of the songs are the
same for everybody. But the order in which these

songs are played in is unique toyou.
It's this order of life that tells you how lessons first
appear, which lessons repeat, and which ones don't play at all
until a later chapter in life. And each of these stages doesn't
follow an exact age, but more soa cyclical rhythm where certain

transits and progressions activate house rulers.
And then that particular area ofyour life naturally steps into
focus. So your rising sign pretty much
just sets the permanent sequencein play, the pattern through
which all future timing operates.
And it's how astrologers see what's ready to mature next in

your life. Or why you may not be finding
love until you complete a lessonin your career.
Or why you may not find securityuntil you complete a lesson in
family. It's cyclical, and it follows
the same order that your rising sign set at the.
So what are the main lessons foreach rising sign?

Because your rising sign is whatyou come into life already
strong with. And then what you're learning to
integrate and balance is shown by the sign directly opposite
your rising sign, which is your descendant.
If you still have that chart in front of you, take a look over
to the right side of that circular wheel.
You can even just pop your finger on the ASC ascendant sign

and draw that straight line across and you will see the
descendant. It's labeled DSC.
The descendant reveals the qualities and experiences that
complete your growth story. So your lessons per rising sign.
And you can discover this not just for your own chart, but

imagine knowing this for your partner.
Imagine knowing this for your family, your loved ones, and
your friends, and maybe even knowing this for business
partners and clients can be helpful because you can better
understand and serve people whenyou know their nuanced
characteristics. So yes, take note of your own,
but also, if you venture into using this information to better

love and understand somebody else, well, then I'd say that's
pretty amazing. So if you or someone you work
with or someone you love is in Aries Rising, then that is Libra
descendant. The lesson is learning diplomacy
and learning how to share decision making as an Aries

rising. It's coming into life ready to
act alone and the growth is in realizing that you don't lose
power through collaboration. You or someone you love as a
Taurus rising means the descendant is in Scorpio.
The lesson is learning emotionaldepth, it's learning trust, and
it's learning to let go of control.
As a Taurus rising, you'll buildstability and comfort, and the

Scorpio descendant pushes you toface vulnerability and to
transform through connection. For Gemini rising, the
descendant is Sagittarius. The lesson is learning to move
from curiosity to conviction. Gemini risings gather endless
data. You will gather endless data.

vision and to live according to a philosophy rather than just
ideas. Cancer rising gives a Capricorn
descendant the lesson of learning structure and

That planet is your narrator. It's the tone of the voice over
