(00:02):
Hey, it's Dave with you for a little walk here on the street
heading down to my local coffee shop.
And I just wanted to hang out with you.
Maybe we could walk and talk. Yeah, it's the end of the year.
We are celebrating a year of podcasting and talking about
(00:22):
podcasting, and it's been great. It's been really, really fun to,
to see how the show has been growing and our connections, a
lot of different ways that we can connect with each other.
We, we have the meetups, we haveall the different things that we
put on during the year to connect podcasters with other
(00:43):
podcasters. And I just, you know, as I'm
kind of out strolling around doing my Christmas shopping and,
and getting ready for the holidays, I'm just thinking of,
you know, a great year behind usand a great year ahead of us as
well. We got some good stuff coming up
for the podcast in 2026. And if you're new here, like
(01:05):
you're new to the podcast, then it's great to have you with us.
It's great to, to, to, to see this thing build over time and
the amazing people that have connected with us.
I was looking at my Spotify information and looked at the
rapt. They do a summary at the end of
(01:25):
the year all the time, which is very interesting.
But we're over like 700 plus followers on Spotify alone,
which is thrilling to see that number go up all the time.
So if you're like me and you're a a Spotify user, I'd love for
you to follow the show and let'scontinue to grow that number,
right? It's just, it's great to see
(01:47):
that number rise over time and know that we're connecting with
people from around the world andyeah, that's really, really
encouraging. Got some great stuff coming up
in 2026 and I, I'm, I'm excited to see where the show goes in
the new year and how I can serveyou.
I'm just, again, I'm on my way to grab a coffee.
(02:09):
I thought, I thought maybe you and I could just hang out for a
little bit at the coffee shop and let's.
Yeah, here. It's coming up here on, on the
right. So let's let's go in here and
let's grab a coffee together. And let's let's talk a little
bit about what is coming in 2026and maybe how this show could
serve you better. But yeah, here's coffee shops
(02:30):
just here on your right. Let's let's go in and let's go
grab a coffee. Can you join me for a little
bit? OK.
All right, let's go grab a coffee.
One SEC here. Just yeah, on the right.
Yeah, they're. Let's go in.
Yeah. So this is a, this is a great
coffee shop, a great, a great spot I like to go to.
And I'm glad you're with me. Let's let's go grab a seat.
(02:51):
Well, some things to think abouthere in 2026.
One thing I put in front of myself is a big challenge for
2026. I don't know about you, but I'm
kind of this podcasting thing has become a machine and it's
kind of running on its own, which I'm thankful for and
getting amazing guests and have more ideas I know to do with.
(03:14):
I don't know that's how you feelin your your show, but after
this many episodes, it's kind ofbecoming a, it's coming to a
well oiled machine and I'm happywith the results, but I don't
feel like I'm overly challenged as a podcaster.
And I want to, I want to see what I can do in 2026.
(03:34):
So I don't know, like for you and for your show, but yeah, it
just, it feels like there's someopportunities here for me to,
to, to try some new stuff and additional things.
So one of the things is I'm going to be doing a a challenge
and doing content different formats, but over the year I'm
(03:59):
going to try to do something every day.
So 365 days of content in 2026, not so much.
I do want to reach more people, but at the same time I want to,
I just want to, I want to bettermyself and I want to learn.
I want to grow and I think by doing a daily challenge for the
(04:20):
year, it's just going to help meto grow.
So that's kind of something I'm thinking about.
So yeah. And yeah, I just, I don't know
what it's going to lead to. And that's that's the exciting
part. And the part that makes me
nervous is A, can I do it? And B, can what's going to be
(04:41):
the result? What about those days when I
don't feel like doing it? Will I continue to show up 360
to 5 days in a row? I have to.
I'm thinking mentally through how I'm going to do all this and
it's, it's overwhelming, but at the same time exciting that it's
something I've never done before.
And I'm hoping that it leads to something.
(05:02):
I'm not sure what, but if it leads to more connections or
more people, if it leads to morepeople finding about out about
the show and about what we're trying to build here at the had
a podcast series and that's great.
Yeah, I'm, I'm still playing with all the different
components to this and what thisis going to look like.
(05:23):
But yeah, as we just sit here and sip coffee together, I just,
this is one of the things that I'm putting in front of me and I
hope it it turns out to be one of the things that is one of
those challenges that really brings more people into my
world. So that's one.
And then the other one is on February 13th and 14th, a 24
(05:45):
hour podcast challenge to record24 episodes in 24 hours and be
live and streaming and all that over 24 hour period.
This is going to be interesting. It's going to be something I've
never done and I don't know verymany other podcasters who have
done this. So I don't know if I'm stumbling
(06:05):
on something new or something old that people have forgotten
about. It's a challenge I want to do
and it's going to lead me into Valentine's Day on the 14th.
And that's going to be talking about through the love of
podcasting or falling in love with podcasting, something along
those lines. And it's going to lead to that.
So it's going to be very interesting to see where all
this comes to a point in 2026. And my encouragement for you is
(06:31):
to is to put yourself out there this year.
There's something, there's something you you have never
done. It could be starting your show.
I'd love to help you with that, by the way.
It could be starting your show. It could be rowing your
podcasts. It could be putting yourself out
(06:51):
there, maybe doing video, maybe doing social media, YouTube,
TikTok, I don't know. There's something for you, a
newsletter. Maybe there's something for you
that you haven't done or that you haven't put your whole heart
into so far as a podcaster. And maybe 2026 is your year.
So I just want to encourage you that there's a lot of great
(07:15):
stuff ahead for for you. There's a lot of great stuff
ahead for your audience. I'm hoping there's great stuff
ahead for me as a creator as well.
And having you here with me overover this year has been great.
I really appreciate you. The other part too, and kind of
the theme for all this around coffee is we do have our buy me
(07:37):
a coffee here at a podcast series.
And I'm asking if if you found any value this year and what
we've done together as a listener, as a community member
on meet up or just me. We've had some one-on-one time
together, whatever. If you found some value this
year in what we've done on the show and through our community,
(07:59):
I would love to extend that offer to you to support the show
through our Buy Me a Coffee link.
It's in the show notes and it's on the website.
It's it's all over the place. The audience for this show and
my other podcasts, I've been super generous, very kind.
And that money is reinvested into other podcasters.
(08:21):
That's what I do with it. I use this as a way to raise
money to help people like you. And I love being somebody's
first coffee donation when they set up their podcast.
I love being somebody's speak pipe first message for their new
show. I love helping people.
I love making time for people and they buy me a coffee links
(08:45):
that are always in my website and in my show notes and
everything. That's a way for me to generate
income that can go towards helping people like you and
other new podcasters. So I reinvest it.
So that's why I'm asking. I have a job.
I it's, it's pays for everythingthat I needed to pay for, but I
(09:09):
don't have a lot of extra money to support people outside of
that. I kind of cover my costs and my
bills with my job, but doesn't give me any money to play with.
And the buy me a coffee donations that come through
through the show gives me the ability to to give to others and
to help other people on their journey.
So if you want to help me in that, please, you know, use the
(09:32):
link in the show notes. And that's kind of why I wanted
to meet you here at the coffee shop.
I wanted this to be the backdropof this conversation.
If you don't have Buy Me a Coffee link for your own
podcast, I'm encouraging you to do this.
And I've talked about this on the show before.
As some people say, I don't wantto make money with my show.
(09:56):
And I gently push back and say, well, what if your audience
does? But if your audience wants you
to make money with your show, what if your audience would love
to donate as a sign of engagement for you and your
podcast and you're not giving them the opportunity to do so
because you don't have a way to do it.
So by simply setting up a Buy Mea coffee, having it out there,
(10:17):
having links on your website or your blog or in your show notes
of your podcast or on your social media, wherever, it just
gives people the opportunity to go.
You know what? There has been a lot of great
value here. I've learned something.
I feel connected. I've got a companion in this
podcast that I love, and even ifit's just one coffee donation of
(10:42):
like $5 or something, at least Ican do something, even if it's
small. Multiply that across many, many,
many, many listeners and followers of our show and it
becomes a substantial amount of money that could be reinvested.
So if you don't want to make money with your show and that's
not your objective and you feel salesy, try or buy me a coffee
(11:07):
and then take the money that comes in from your show and
reinvest it in your community. Reinvest it in your
neighborhood. Maybe there's a family that's
struggling at the end of the year and you can take the money
that comes from your audience and give it to that family and
then come back and tell your audience what you did with the
money. I think your audience would love
(11:29):
to hear the story of how their money compiled with everyone
else who loves your show, helpeda family in your neighborhood at
the end of the year. Maybe you buy food for your
local charity or food bank. Maybe you do something
spectacular with that money. But it's a sign of engagement.
(11:50):
So my encouragement for you as we sip coffee here together is
think about think about what youcould do with an audience that's
super engaged leaving you. Speak Pipe messages
speakpipe.com buying you a coffee at buymeacoffee.com.
(12:10):
What, what would that engagementmean for you in your show?
It's something that we we need to develop and I'm encouraging
you to think of that. So if you're starting a show in
2026, think about adding buy me a coffee, buying speak adding
Speak Pipe to what you do and don't podcast alone in 2026.
(12:38):
Don't like podcasts with community podcasts in in a
family atmosphere with other people like you who are also on
a journey of podcasting. It's it's great when you have
friends and podcasting to learn from to bounce ideas off of.
At the time of recording, I'm going into our last Tuesday meet
(13:03):
up for the year and I'm excited to to record this and put it out
there into the world because theidea that we can get together
and support each other and be there for each other and a meet
up group has been running for a couple years now.
(13:25):
We we see the results of not podcasting alone.
So my encouragement for you is don't podcast alone in 2026.
And if you're thinking about starting and you haven't started
yet, your show, you have an idea, you have a concept, but
you don't know the mechanics, the technical side, you don't
know about microphones, you don't know about how your
(13:47):
podcast goes from your computer to Apple and Spotify and
Audible. And that seems overwhelming.
The whole idea of video seems like I've never done video.
Do I have to do that? There's a lot of questions that
people have around podcasting. Sometimes we just feel silly
asking these questions. Like it's like everyone else
(14:09):
knows the answer except us. And because we don't know the
answers to these questions, we just stay quiet.
And there's a lot of people likeyou who have a great story to
share, a great audience to reach, and there's just
something in the way. One thing we talk about on the
show a lot on the How to Podcastseries is to to do what you can
(14:32):
with what you have, where you are.
And by keeping those three things in mind, do what you can
with what you have, where you are.
You already have enough knowledge to start.
You have the right equipment to start to get started anyway.
You can always upgrade and you don't need more knowledge.
(14:54):
You don't need more tools, you don't need more experience or
time. You just need to start.
So if you've been delaying in 2025, starting that show, I want
to work with you in 2026 to makethis a reality for you.
And I want you to see the fun, the joy, the connections you'll
make, the connections with your audience, the connections with
(15:18):
your guests. I want you to see something go
from an idea to a reality in 2026 and get beyond the
planning, the learning, and the procrastination.
It's time to get started, and I'm thrilled that you're here.
I'm thrilled that you and I can share a coffee together.
(15:39):
I just want to encourage you that 2026 is your year.
You and I, together, we can do something great.
And I'm happy to work with you and spend as much time as you
need to help you feel comfortable starting your show
in the new year. So again, to you and your
family, whatever you celebrate, wherever you are in this amazing
(15:59):
big world of ours, I hope that 2026 brings you a year of peace,
a year of progress, and a year of passion as you grow and
develop your voice as a podcaster.
I'll be here with you the entiretime.
Thanks for making time to spend some time with me and having
coffee. And again, if you want to donate
(16:20):
to the show and you want to helpsponsor other podcasters, then
use the Buy Me a Coffee link in the show notes.
And we love to do that and distribute that out to others.
Thanks for making time for me. I think we got our head out.
But appreciate you being here. Appreciate you being part of the
show. Yeah.
(16:43):
Enjoy your coffee. We'll talk again in 2026.
Take care. Again, thank you for being here,
guys. Thank you for being part of the
show 2025 and now into 2026. Looking forward to a great year
with you. Let's stay in touch.
Let's I'll be thinking about youover the holidays.
(17:04):
Hope you have a great time with your family.
Let's see you back here in 2026 and get ready because some of
the great stuff ahead for all ofus and having you here.
It's the best thing ever. So how to podcast.ca is where
you can find all the links and I'd love for you to share this
with somebody. As you look towards a new year
and you know, somebody wants to start a podcast.
(17:25):
I would really appreciate if youtell them about the how to
podcast series and how to podcast dossier.
I got to catch my cab. Have a great holiday season,
everybody take care talk soon. See you.
Bye taxi.
