(00:00):
What is going on everybody? And welcome to this week's
episode of the Harder Within podcast.
Thank you very much for tuning in today to another episode.
It's going to be a quick and short episode today giving you
all the latest and greatest Sporting News.
Get familiar with this setting for the last time because yes,
it will be the final time I willbe recording in the studio for

(00:24):
this foreseeable future. It may be possible that I'll
come back, who knows, but next week recordings will be in a new
location which is really, reallyexciting.
Don't want to give away too much.
The way it's looking at the moment, it's still going to be
off the the laptop recording webcam, but it's going to be a

(00:46):
different wall to what we're normally used to.
Still in the process of sort of setting that up once it's all
finalised. I'm moving houses, so I'll be
moving into my new place this Friday and that will mean I'll
have a brand new room that is solely dedicated to one, working
from home and two, also recording my podcast as well.

(01:10):
So you won't see a bed in the background and things that are
just in the way. Hopefully we'll be seeing a
blank wall that I'll look to be customising and while doing
that, also having a makeup studio potentially.
That's something I'm trying to work with in the background and
the process and trying to get all the right things in there

(01:31):
for potential guests that are around Melbourne to join on the
call and all podcasts. Not cool to discuss all things
sport and deeper meanings and, and just random conversations
about different topics that I'vebeen doing and I hope you guys
have have been enjoying as well.So that's a bit of a nice little
studio update we started here and I'm glad we're going to be

(01:54):
growing out of it as well because, yeah, we're hoping that
when the podcast does take off and continues to take off, I
will remember starting in this very room and recording podcasts
from the start. But again, we're in the present
now, so we'll continue to talk about the Sporting News that
happened this week and continuing to record him in the
room for the last time maybe. So we'll start off with the

(02:18):
Melbourne Cup. Today is the Melbourne Cup.
We had Half Yours winning the 2025 Melbourne Cup, a clear
favourite coming into the race until literally the day before.
Mark Sarah, the jockey, had a really good run this morning
before the race and has had a reputable time winning the 2023

(02:40):
and 2022 Melbourne Cups. But some fun facts, Half Yours
did win the Melbourne Cup was the favourite and is the only
Australian bred horse race in the race that won it.
So that's a massive achievement in itself.
And the second female jockey to ever win the Melbourne Cup also
won, who coincidentally had her partner racing at the same time.

(03:04):
But Half Yours was a great nice little horse that that got the
the deserved victory here. The number 11 had a really good
start and it looked as though that that was going to pump off
and and take the race out. But it it certainly died off and
I feel it just had a really niceclean run on the inside, weaved

(03:25):
through a few horses and just took out everyone else and broke
the competition in my opinion. And yeah, it's a race that truly
does stop the nation. No luck on the bets.
I I actually jumped on the second horse and lost cheeky $5
on it. As I get my phone I'm trying to
remember the name, but the reason why I jumped on it was

(03:45):
because of the name itself there, so it was a bit of a a
shame. So goody 2 shoes yeah, coming in
second had a cheeky $5 on him paying in that $27.00.
Was unlucky to hit that one. But nevertheless half yours I
think was the the best in my opinion even before the race.
But I got a little bit greedy. I didn't like the odds at $7.50

(04:09):
and I wanted to get more cheekier and and try to get a
roughy because normally when a heavy favourite comes through
usually fails on the Melbourne Cup.
So yeah, but that that pretty much wraps up the race until
next year when we decide to jumpon and check who the favourites
are at the moment. But yeah, there might be the

(04:29):
Melbourne Cup updates for you. We also have some interesting
basketball news for the upcomingdraught in 2026.
Both Darren Peterson and AJ the band star making their debuts in
college and both getting over 20points.
And if you've heard anything about the 2026 NBA Draught,
we're looking at 4 superstars who are going to be

(04:52):
generational. And if you thought this year's
draught was good, they're sayingthat the 2026 draught will be 10
times better with some top leveltalent, especially coming
through the top four. I mentioned those two have also
got Cameron Boozer in there as well, who is the son of Carlos
Boozer in the draught too. So some talent coming in college

(05:14):
just started. There's no much madness, but
college games are stunning to tokick off.
And we've had the debuts of Darren Peterson and AJ the band
star. And let me tell you, if they
were performing like that at thestart, dropping 20 more 20 or
plus points, it's going to be very, I guess deadly.
And you got to look out for the competition there for these guys
to sort of run. And there is no clear number one

(05:36):
pick. So it's all got to do with
college. So we had Darren Peterson's that
line of 21 points, 4 rebounds, 3assists, 2 steals, 1 block
shooting 63.6% from the field, which is which is quite solid
there all around sort of stat filling performance, which is
great. And then we also had AJ demand
star with 21 six and three, which was a a quite solid start

(05:58):
line. He only shot 50% from the field,
but one for one from three, which is, which is quite solid
and no turnovers too. So yeah, they're doing well
those two. Looking forward to see how the
other players in that class go as well.
But we're looking at a really stacked 2026 NBA draught, which
is awesome. And the way the Wizards are

(06:19):
going right now, we could be landing on one of those 4 picks
if the the lottery odds are kindto us because yeah, we're
struggling once again. But again, I think we are
missing a generational star team.
So to get someone like potentially Age of Demands to
Darren Peterson, Cameron Boozer,I think we'll do lots of things
for us and will help us there. But it's going to be a race to

(06:41):
get them because you do have Utah around there.
You also have the Brooklyn Nets around there and even the New
Orleans Pelicans, whose pick will be coming to the Atlanta
Hawks. So Atlanta Hawks will be licking
their lips seeing the Pelicans zero and six.
And yeah, it'll be interesting there.
While we're on the Pelicans, I will have to say that they're
also in in massive trouble. New Orleans as well.

(07:03):
Don't shit as a as an overall sort of sporting city and it's
just not looking good, especially for them and the
Saints. So that's something to keep tabs
on. In other news, we have Philly
five and one Chicago Bulls 5:00 and 1:00 making me look really
stupid. Not even a Jordan team started
five and one which 5 and 0, which is crazy.

(07:25):
And I notoriously said that theywere going to go under on wins
and they're on track to smash their wins as well.
So I'm there looking really stupid.
Philly is also killing at a 5:00and 1:00, and if poor George and
Johanna be come back and they'rehealthy, they can be a really
big problem in the Eastern Conference and potentially even
take it all out. So that's another crazy one
there. They were sitting at that 42 1/2

(07:47):
line and I think they're going to smash that too.
OK, so he's flying seven. And oh, at the moment, Spurs are
flying five and one. And the Lakers.
The Lakers are doing really well.
I'm kind of glad that they are because I was banking on them to
hit the overs and they're on track as well, especially
without the likes of LeBron and Luca being in and out of the
lineup. And today they had no LeBron, no

(08:09):
Austin Reeves, who, man, that guy's having a killer season so
far. Let me tell you, it took a Nick
Smith junior 25 six and and no turnover performance to win this
game, which is which is quite crazy.
And you also had the John Joe Aiden revenge game 29 and 10 and
Rui 28 points. The poor, the Trail Blazers,
Nathan won't be too happy with that as they're trying to

(08:31):
compete and try to improve from last season.
The Lakers made quick work of them, but overall, it looks like
some early unbelievable performances from Lori Markenen
1 averaging 32 points this season already.
You got Tyrese Maxi playing at an MVP level, which is driving
Philadelphia to be 5 and one. You've got Yanis, who when he
plays, he's just literally carrying this team with a nice

(08:54):
surprise of Ryan Rollins contributing here and there
there. But yeah, it's just been, it's
been crazy. The NBA is is truly back.
We've had some crazy scores lastweek.
It's slowed down a bit, but someplayers are starting to sort of
pick it up. We've got UK Cunningham starting
to pick it up as well. And yeah, we're looking at a
very interesting season, especially when it comes to the

(09:15):
the Eastern Conference in terms of just how open it is at the
moment. And then the West being the West
and how competitive it is. We're looking at a really,
really cool season as well. The Wizards are not looking to
be part of that, unfortunately. I've got the Texas Longhorns top
today. That is my default college team
as I have watched the basketballgame from there and my boy Trey

(09:35):
Johnson is from there, rooting for him to perform.
He's been doing good over 10 points per game as we check in
on the rookies and Jeremiah Fears is getting a * and he was
one player that I really wanted at the Wizards, but it was
between him and Trey Johnson where we were sitting at.
And as much as I'm happy with Trey Johnson, I really do like
Fears. So I'm really happy that he's

(09:56):
performing really well. And he's got the starting nod as
it presently stands, taking it away from from Jordan Paul.
And yeah, I think Trey Johnson'sperforming well.
We're having a decent season from Cooper Flag.
It seems as though that he's struggling to play the point at
the moment and hopefully he can come into his own.

(10:17):
But some nice surprises in Ryan Culprenner from the Charlotte
Hornets, which is really good tosee as a rookie there.
Cedric Coward is performing at an elite level, but
unfortunately Dylan Harper's setto miss four to six weeks with
an injury, which is going to be a blow to the Spurs.
Thankfully, they do have a lot of guard depth in Stefan Castle
and they've also got Fox to comeback as well.

(10:41):
But I think the biggest news that is coming out of the NBA at
the moment is John Moran. Now, John Moran recently got
suspended by the coaches and by Memphis because of his attitude
towards the coaches. He has been tossing a fit in
press conferences and saying that he's not enjoying

(11:02):
basketball, He's lost his joy. He's walking away from the bench
and I think he's sending a real strong message that he wants to
get traded out of Memphis, whichafter all he's done to really
call that out. It's quite interesting when this
guy has his head right and he's not injured.
We're talking one of the the better point guards in the NBA.

(11:24):
He's carried Memphis to a lot ofhigh seeded positions.
And I will blame, as I've said in the past, the scapegoating of
Dylan Brooks as a demise of of the Memphis Grizzlies.
And that's the real reason Jar hasn't also been 100% committed,
especially with the stuff that'sgone off season, which we don't

(11:45):
want to talk about. And we've already mentioned and
also his injuries, too. And now that he's decided that
he's got to destroy, we're looking at Jamaran potentially
being traded out of the Memphis Grizzlies very soon.
I'm not sure if this will be able to last until the All Star
break and the trade deadline then, but if it does, we're

(12:05):
looking at a very disgruntled John Moran and we could see
things hit the fan worse than italready has now.
So we mentioned that Jack would be traded and it seemed like a
surprise, but at the moment, it seems like he's probably the
first superstar to potentially seek a move.
And the team that is linked to him the most is the Minnesota

(12:29):
Timberwolves. And that one is quite crazy
because could you imagine Anthony Edwards and John Moran
on the same team? The Timberwolves are in
desperate need of a point guard. However, will they be willing to
give up a player in Julius Randle to get him?
That's the major question. And it seems as though with all
the controversies and the issuessurrounding John Moran, there's
not going to be a massive demandfor him.

(12:51):
And I don't think there's going to be a lot of draught picks and
and and sort of assets that are going to be thrown away to get
him. So the Minnesota Timberwolves
have the pieces. They have the contracts in Mike
Conley. They could potentially ship out
Rudigo there if they don't want to get rid of Julius Randall,
maybe attack Charles, Chad and Junior, maybe Rob Dillingham in

(13:11):
there and a pic or two. And I think that will sway
enough to get John Moran to the Minnesota Tim Wolves.
He might not be conventional to see Ann and John.
Who's going to dominate the ballis going to be the biggest
question. But wouldn't it be funny to see
two of the most, I guess funniest superstars and the ones
that just have no philtre be together and ball out in

(13:35):
Minnesota? They could be the best of
friends. They could be in the elite duo
and I don't think Minnesota fanswould be disappointed in in
seeing that. And I think that would be the
most realistic destination for him at the moment, given that
the Wolves don't have a point guard.
And I also think it would be themost exciting for the league.
Imagine. Yeah, I just would love to see
Ann and Jar Ball out together inMinnesota and hopefully keeping

(13:58):
Randall and Divincenzo in there as well, because I think those
two are great players for for them and can lead them to wins.
And I don't think Jada McDanielsgoes anywhere to lose this trade
either. So yeah, we're gonna have to see
how it plays out. Hopefully by next week we we see
some more news and get some moreupdates.
But we'll definitely be keeping an eye out on the Jamaran

(14:19):
situation because as it presently stands, it looks like
he is the most disgruntled superstar at the moment.
And yeah, I guess I said at the start, I don't know if this one
will last until the trade deadline come All Star break.
I think this has to be dealt with as soon as possible if I am
the Memphis Grizzlies, because it's only been two weeks and
he's already been really unhinged.

(14:40):
He's been suspended. He's been just mentioning that
he's lost his joy in the comments.
So keep tabs for for John Moran, the NBA so that it's it's just
so great to talk about it. And it's a long season.
So 82 games is probably about 9 games wrapped up 9 or some have
played nine, some have played seven.

(15:00):
So plenty of basketball to go. So we're looking forward to it,
of course. Just wanted to take a moment to
thank you guys for tuning in to another episode of the Huddle
Within podcast. If you do enjoy episodes like
this or this episode specifically, be sure to leave a
comment and a five star review wherever you do get your
podcasts. It'd be also great if you could

(15:20):
like and subscribe wherever you do get your podcasts so we can
continue to show this out to people that see sports exactly
the way that you do. But without further ado, let's
get straight back into it. And in the NFL news for this
week, we had some pretty decent games.
We had the the probably the gameof the night, which was the
Jaguars taking on the Raiders. This one went to overtime.

(15:44):
The Jaguars on their drive scored a touchdown and so did
the Raiders. And the Raiders had a chance to
kick a field goal to tie the game, but they said screw it,
they were gonna go for the two point conversion.
And unfortunately, the Raiders fell short in converting that
two point conversion and that gave the win to the Jacksonville

(16:04):
Jaguars. Brock Bowers had a massive game
and he's been injured for a bit.He had a mad rookie season and
he came out and scored three touchdowns, bombed out 41
fantasy points, which was quite spectacular and a great
performance from him as well to try to steer the Oakland Raiders
to victory. And yeah, they're struggling.

(16:26):
I think Gina Smith is strugglingas well there.
And yeah, and not really much isgoing on for them at the moment.
But a team that's really struggling is is the Miami
Dolphins. They're two and seven at the
moment. The only reason why they're not
last is because they have a teamcalled the New York Jets in
their in their division and they're rubbish.
But a team that's actually dominating that division are the
New England Patriots, who their defence has been wild.

(16:49):
And I made the biggest mistake as a fantasy manager dropping
the Patriots defensive and special teams on the first week.
And it's really costing me because the last three weeks
I've picked up a new team on defence every single time and
they failed to get me over 5 points and it's really, really
costing me my fantasy run. They get a victory against the

(17:09):
Falcons 23 to 24. It was a really impressive Drake
London game. I had to try get the the Falcons
back into it. But the pay Patriots proved too
strong in in the end as well. And and they're flying.
The Bears smash the Bengals 47 to 42 and the Bengals are just
going on constant shootouts, butthey're they're falling short

(17:29):
every single time by their defence is is a big struggle at
the moment. The fact that they're getting 42
points without Joe Boro just shows to me how good Jamar Chase
is as a wide receiver and also THiggins, his counterpart, who
had an unbelievable catch this week as well.
So yeah, I don't know what's going on with the Bengals in
their defence, but it's a it's abig struggle.
The Panthers get an upset victory against the Packers 16

(17:51):
to 13. We also had the 49ers taking on
a Jacksonville, New York Giants team with no weapons, which is
we spoke about their luck. But I think the the nice
surprise of the week was the Colts showing that they're human
and actually losing a game to the Steelers, who had a really
good performance as well. So as it stands, we have the

(18:12):
Denver Broncos, the IndianapolisColts and the New England
Patriots, 7 and two, all leadingthe league at the moment, which
you wouldn't expect. I think you'd expect Denver to
be up there the way that they were primed, but honestly, not
being the Patriots, and most certainly not not the
Indianapolis Colts, which is exciting too.
But not long behind them are theBuccaneers, Seahawks, Rams and

(18:37):
the Bills and the Eagles, who are all six and two.
So it's really competitive rightnow in the NFL, especially for
those top spots. We have the Kansas City Chiefs
still up there, the Minnesota Vikings beating the Detroit
Lions. So that division is actually
very open too. So this one is going to be very
interesting there. I always say that the Lions

(18:58):
division, the NFC North is, is the strongest at the moment.
And all teams are 500 and above. You've got Green Bay five and
two, Detroit five and three, Chicago five and three, and
Minnesota 4:00 and 4:00. So one of those teams are gonna
miss out there in in getting a playoff spot or two teams
actually, theoretically. So yeah, look out for the NFC

(19:19):
North and yeah, look out for I guess the NFL as it continues to
to go through. We're almost at the halfway
mark, so we may see a halfway check in with the boys coming up
very soon. So keep in tunes for that.
And to pretty much cap it off for the week, not too much more

(19:40):
news going on. We've got the WWE quickly as CM
Punk wins the title against Jay USO and that's CM Punk's first
title in over 10 years. He's finally a World Heavyweight
Champion. We have Dominic Mysterio winning
the triple threat match as well against Rusev and Penta and he
continues to be the double champ.

(20:01):
Rey Mysterio just made his return so they look like to to
have another father son feud. Everyone knows who Rey Mysterio
is, literally Red Legend. His son is obviously Dominic and
they can probably get into a feud as well.
We had Jay Cargill defeating Tiffany Stratton, so Jay Cargill
is the new women's champion. She also turned heel, so
interested to see how her character goes.

(20:23):
And Cody Rhodes retains his title against Drew McIntyre,
where Cody Rhodes could potentially become a heel.
They're still teasing it. So he may have been the person
that attacked Jacob Plateau. At the moment, we don't know,
but look out for Cody Rhodes there.
But I think the most important WWE news at the moment is there
is going to be a 16 man tournament to determine who John

(20:47):
Cena's final opponent will be. And what John Cena teased in
this reveal was that there may be superstars that are not
signed to the company. So we could potentially be
looking at Chris Jericho or Edgeto take on John Cena in his
final match should they compete in the tournament and should
they win the favour right now isGunther, who's looking to make

(21:08):
his return shortly and he's one of the the superstars that have
been listed for this. So yeah, John Cena potentially
taking on a returning superstar not signed to the company or
someone in this tournament, which starts next week on Monday
Night Raw. And I'm truly excited for that,
to be honest, to see who John Cena's final opponent will be.

(21:31):
It will be December 14 for us, December 13 in America on
Saturday Night's Main Event. The match should be on YouTube.
If you don't watch it live, it should be on YouTube or else
they may have it on Netflix live.
Well, I'm not really sure how the subscription works.
I watched the last Saturday Night's Main event that just
occurred on YouTube. So if you're not a wrestling

(21:54):
fan, everyone knows who John Cena is.
You have to watch his last match.
It's his last ever match as a superstar.
He is going to retire, he's finished up, he's done a whole
year tour. There is no chance he's ever
going to come back in the ring again.
So whoever he versus is going tobe once in a lifetime because he
is truly the GOAT and you must watch it.

(22:14):
We'll keep you updated on it. The next Piale is Survivor
Series War Games. So that's going to be the
priority first and then we'll beable to talk about Saturday
night's main event and John Cena's last match there.
But before we finish up, we willwrap up with some EPL news.
Liverpool back on track defeating Aston Villa 2 nil.

(22:35):
They got a big test tomorrow against Real Madrid as the
Champions League starts and they're playing at home.
They've also got Manchester Citynext week away from home.
So 2 crucial games and if they beat Real Madrid and if they can
get a real result against City, I'm sure that Liverpool fans
will feel a lot more confident in their season and potentially
be competing because they're still, despite all this drama

(22:57):
and all the struggles, they are third on the table, which it
which is quite amazing considering that they were the
team that was out of form there. But the team that's in top form
is Arsenal, sitting six points above the league on 25 points,
getting another victory and onceagain Gabrielle getting another
assist inside the box from a setpiece.

(23:18):
That man can't be stopped right now from the offensive side in
corners. So Arsenal are firing out the
gates and looking to be an earlyPremier League contender.
But if you know the Arsenal are old, they're notoriously ones to
choke and they have a very toughtest against a Sunderland team
that is still in top form, in the top 4 as well, playing away

(23:39):
from home as well. And they just had a one on one
draw against Everton. But they are going to be flying
with confidence too there. So I think Sunderland will give
them a a massive challenge and Ithink we'll be looking out for
potentially an upset here and someone to finally take some
points off Arsenal since Liverpool have got as well.

(23:59):
We have PSG and by Munich tomorrow in Champions League as
well. Just something to bring up
because I think that will also be a very exciting match.
Manchester United 2 two against Nottingham Forest.
We had a lapse of concentration.I did watch the game and a lapse
of concentration just after half, that's just the start of
the second half, costed us the opportunity to get our fourth

(24:21):
win in a row and potentially have the Man United fan cut his
hair. Looks like it's not going to
happen. So yeah, we had a mad goal from
Ahmad that was an unbelievable strike, a right footed volley
from outside the box, very impressive.
And Casimira scoring a goal which was very controversial
because it probably wasn't meantto be a corner.
But nevertheless we will take those all day of the week.

(24:45):
But we're going to be taking on Tottenham.
Tottenham just came off a loss to Chelsea.
They're going to look to rectifythat next week.
So that's going to be a a fun game at the moment and hopefully
we can get the result there because I think it'll be a big
statement victory and it'll be abig revenge from the time that
they beat us in the Europa League as well.

(25:05):
And I guess from player performance then wise, Harland
is just killing it. He's breaking all sorts of
records, scoring consecutive goals at home.
We have I think at the moment Kasota as an early contender for
the best player in the Premier League this season, the way he's
been going as well. And yeah, he's been smashing it,

(25:25):
to be honest. And West Ham get their first win
against Newcastle A-Team that's probably guaranteed to relegate
after their performance is the Wolves they they struggled and
A10 men team not looking good enough at the moment.
They just sacked their coach, sowho knows what's happening with
them at the moment, but they area complete mess.

(25:47):
But the Premier League is, is still, again, I like all these
sports ramping up, still early stages there.
So nearly at the 1/3 of the season mark there I think.
Yeah, they've hit 10 games. So that actually had to hit 10
games. So we are hitting the 1/3 of the
season mark or 1/4 of the seasonmark there as we have maybe.
