SPEAKER_01 (00:01):
Thank you everybody for coming to our next episode
of uh Husky Huddle, where wetalk about everything Husky and
the only city school district.
And we're so excited to haveLord Stop here to talk about all
sorts of really engaging andawesome stuff that's gonna be

(00:21):
coming up for our families toengage in with our students, and
it's gonna be really fun.
And she has so much to shareabout this, including something
that's gonna be happening thisFriday, this very Friday, like
two days from now.
Yes.
Wow.
Okay, so can you, Mr., tell uswhat exciting thing is gonna

(00:44):
happen on Friday this week?

SPEAKER_00 (00:47):
So on Friday, November 14th, we have a family
fall fun night at WashingtonWest, and it is open to all of
our students and families forsome engaging opportunity to
connect with each other and havea little bit of fun outside the
scope of the school day.
We will have bingo.

(01:08):
Yes, everybody loves a good gameof bingo.
Uh, we also are going to have uhtemporary tattoos, just for
clarification, and we have umcookie decorating.
So our friends at BoC's, theculinary arts department, they
actually were able to bake us200 cookies so that our kiddos

(01:30):
can come in and decorate theirown cookie and have a little bit
of a sweet treat to close outthe event as well.
Hopefully, we'll have somegames.
We are going to have lots ofstudent volunteers, not only
from Oleanne High School, butalso from St.
Bonaventure University and theuh early childhood new visions
program at Bose.
So there's lots of helping handsthat are coming over to assist,

(01:51):
and hopefully we'll have a greatnight together, enjoying uh what
was once uh fall weather.
Now we have a little bit more ofa wintry uh season upon us, but
that's okay.
We're still celebrating fall.

SPEAKER_01 (02:04):
That's right, that's right.
Regardless of the snow, it'sstill fall.
We're gonna go with that.
So is this the first year thatwe've done the family fun
festival?

SPEAKER_00 (02:14):
So we had one last year as well.
We did it a little bit earlierin October last year.
We found that some familiesdon't necessarily celebrate
Halloween, so we wanted to shiftit toward a fall theme, and that
way it was more inclusive of allof our students and the whole of
our population.
So we we moved away from theHalloween hoopla that we had in

(02:36):
the past and we moved toward afamily fall fun night.
Oh, I like that.

SPEAKER_01 (02:39):
And the alliteration is impressive.

unknown (02:42):
Thank you.

SPEAKER_01 (02:43):
Thank you.
Yeah.
So how did your students respondwhen you did it the first time?

SPEAKER_00 (02:49):
Uh everybody loved it.
So one of the one of the mostfavored activities, actually,
that's going to be embeddedagain.
We did a scavenger hunt wherethere were different clues
around the building and thestudents had to find different
things in different spaces.
And at the end, if they turnedin their scavenger hunt sheet,
they received a little prize.
So everyone was kind of racingthrough the hallways and trying

(03:11):
to find all of the clues so thatthey could earn that special
incentive.
They had the whole window oftime to be able to engage uh and
do that as well as invite themthemselves in to play some games
of bingo too.
So it's from 5 30 to 7 p.m.
on Friday.
We'll open the doors right at 530 and there'll be announcements
when we do bingo games so thatnobody misses out on those

(03:34):
opportunities.
And of course, there's prizesfor bingo too.

SPEAKER_01 (03:38):
So this is all at Washington West this Friday.
That's so cool.
Um, is there anything else thatour families and and friends
should know is also upcoming asfar as family fun.

SPEAKER_00 (03:54):
So every year it's our it's one of our favorite
events.
We have our cookies with Santaevent.
It's on Friday, December 5th.
And Santa comes all the way downfrom the North Pole.
He is a phenomenal guy.
This guy's getting in hiscalendar.
Listen, sometimes he calls us.
He wants to be a part of ourevent each year.
So Santa is going to be comingto town.

(04:17):
He will be here again on Friday,December 5th.
And again, we do similaractivities.
We'll have some tattoos, we'llhave games.
Uh, we usually do cookies orcocoa and uh a craft as well, so
that we can kind of keepeverybody occupied while they're
waiting to see the big guy.
And we also, the following week,we open up our holiday shop, the

(04:39):
8th through the 12th.
The holiday shop is open for ourstudents to purchase items for
their family members.
We're really working hard to getsome items, even though things
are costing a little bit morethese days.
Uh, all items in our shop are$2,and the students can purchase
for up to 10 family members.
And uh all of our students, regardless of whether or not

(05:02):
they do prov have money to shop,we will make sure that every
student at least has the chanceto purchase for mom, for dad,
for a grandma, or grandpa.
Everybody will go home with oneitem at least so that they can
share the love of the seasonwith their family.

SPEAKER_01 (05:17):
I love that.
I remember when my my kids werein school, they would have an
opportunity to do something likethat, and it was always the
coolest things, and they got tochoose the gifts, so that made
it even more special.

SPEAKER_00 (05:31):
Yes, and we have lots of volunteers that come
from the high school, and theyactually come during the scope
of the school day, so all theitems come home wrapped too.
So they are ready to go rightunder the tree that week.

SPEAKER_01 (05:45):
Thank you.
So is there um before we wrapup, is there any other things
that you want us to share thatare upcoming for our families to
make sure that they mark ontheir calendar because Santa has
marked it on his calendar.
He may he's making his listright now.
Uh, I'm not sure if he startedchecking it yet, but I'm sure

(06:07):
that's going to be coming upsoon where he's checking it
twice.
But is there anything else thatyou want us to know is coming
up?

SPEAKER_00 (06:16):
Um, not in the 2025 year.
There'll be more to come in2026.
We'll have an ice skating nightin January and some fun events
throughout the second half ofthe school year, but we do
invite all of our families tocome and join us this Friday,
November 14th, 5 30 to 7 for theFamily Fall Fun Night.
And of course, check in onParent Square as more events are

(06:36):

about things that our familiescan engage in in the upcoming
month and month, and especiallythis Friday.
We hope to see so many of youhaving a wonderful time at our
family fun festival.

(06:57):

fun, and I hope we see all ofyou there.
