It was a busy weekend. I feel like, oh yeah,
uh ipposed a granted pool twice this weekend.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
Were you at Ben's? Uh?
Speaker 6 (02:15):
I was playing with Ben Yeah, playing White Ben White
and half his band half the Yeah and his band
which is was half me Kong expressed yesterday really fun
Bob and j C and the rhythm sex from Meekong Express.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
It was cool, fresh horns, yep, half Yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:34):
Toby went there.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
That's three bands. Yeah, we're gonna turn that ship off.
Speaker 7 (02:40):
This is my dual lingo alarm recording a different time,
you know.
Speaker 9 (02:43):
What I mean?
Speaker 6 (02:44):
True? Uh and uh yeah. So and then I was
there on Friday with the Premier trio great time and
uh Saturday play a little Batch Boys.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
Hit Batch Boys. That's nasty, dude, facts it was. It
wasn't a Batch voice, it.
Speaker 6 (02:59):
Was the crew was nasty too.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (03:02):
You know Charles Arthur Hell yeah, and uh, our guy
Brad Bradley Brad Paisley on guitar, Brad Now yeah on
the basic friend of the show. I keep fucking why
am I forgetting his last name? That's ridiculous.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
Kelly's fault.
Speaker 6 (03:19):
Yeah, I was ridiculous but I've known him a very
long time. But it was dope because I know it is,
but it was my first time playing with him, and
amazing bass player Ben White was also on that gig
as well. It was just nasty to hear Charles Arthur's
single lyrics and the harmonies. To man, I feel like
a woman that was not I if I had a
(03:41):
Bingo card for real, I would not put that on it.
I did not think, I know, just because it was
it was awesome. It was awesome to hear him sing
about short skirts and like and saying like crazy is
you know? And the harmony. I was just like, man,
because Charles Arthur is an amazing dude, but he just
has not listened to any modern music.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
Nope.
Speaker 6 (04:04):
Uh, I don't think he's listened to anything new since
nineteen seventy two and admittedly so like he will be like,
he's totally he's all about that old school shit ful
and he knows a thousand songs. He's like one of
those cats. So one thousand and one at least, you
know what I'm saying. So shout out to Charles Arthur
because he's the friend of the show as well. Yeah,
(04:27):
So that was it?
Speaker 1 (04:28):
That was it?
Speaker 6 (04:28):
That was my weekend?
Speaker 1 (04:29):
What was wow? Well we also were going during the
weekend too.
Speaker 6 (04:34):
During the week yeah man, yeah, oh yeah, the whole
We have a whole.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
Weeks with all types of crazy stuff.
Speaker 6 (04:41):
That was oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
So yeah, well, first of all, I'll get to that
last first thing is over the weekend.
Speaker 8 (04:46):
It was cool.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
I actually got fun stuffrom that too. We did Rumble
Trio played at Bramley Park and that was really fun.
On Sunday, a bunch of people came out shout outs Butterfly.
It's actually her birthday to day in I r L birthday,
Butterfly a birthday. But she was out there and so
she came up. We did a flavor song Nice, which
(05:10):
one the the Batman one Hell Yeah Yeah, which I
think already has you know, already had the surf guitar
thing in n alright, so fit Fit Real Nice, played
a bunch of tunes, I got a couple people, went
out for beer. Was out there with his wife and
her parents. I saw a good show Steve out there,
told him to come out, come out. You know, good
(05:30):
show Steve. He's always a good shows. Okay, Yeah, I
had a good Hamburger there too. It was nice. Saturday,
I did the Latin Jazz Fest for the City of Richmond,
and another good friend of mine, Brian, he was working
the Afro Jazz Fest at the exact same time in
another part of Richmond.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
Nice.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
I don't know why they scheduled them both on the
same day at the same time, festival whatever. But notice
the people going to these vessels are not hopping two
different fests. That was like their activity for the week.
They are older ladies and gentlemen at these so I
don't know what was going on. Richmond was trying to
start ethnic music race war or something like that, but
(06:10):
like I thought, it was kind of fucked up because
pretty sure that's like the exact same crowd going about
them anyway.
Speaker 6 (06:17):
They had generalizing, but that's fine, No, I.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
Mean older people that like jazz and you know, types
of music like that.
Speaker 6 (06:24):
It's Latin and Cuban though, they're gonna be dancing and
stuff too. There's gonna be some younger people there. There's
gonna be some younger people of that kind of thing.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
There were some some of these people brought their children.
There's a lot of story about Yeah, I know, I
don't know, Kelly, why are you making me get off track? Anyway,
So they had a video dude there that was doing
production I guess. I don't know if he was going live,
but I could tell from the screen he had like
a looking at he had a black Magic switcher, and
then he had like two little GoPros on stage and
then one tiny camera like on a tripod, like right
(06:54):
in front of the stage. Yeah. Fine, So everything was
pretty normal except like the where he's set up, which
is insane. At first, I thought he was like just
getting his equipment out, and I realized the location and stuff.
So I'll show you some pictures. Oh yeah, I took
the shot I could. Yeah, total slideshow. So here is
uh one of the openers playing, and I'm gonna put
(07:17):
it up on the screen here. Uh so that's one
of the openers. So I don't know if you notice,
but uh he's right in front of so there's what
who's whose desk is that right in front of the
That is the video guy so in uh so right
in front of these are there's like four baseballs, subs,
double eighteens right in front to the point where for
(07:41):
people who's listening, like these giant speed subwolfers are higher
than his monitors, his screens, his desk, and they're about
maybe no more like less than eighteen inches from the speakers. Yeah,
dangerously dangerously close. Uh so I took a couple more.
Let's find these, dude. Uh oh, these are this is
(08:02):
just for the sound check. He wasn't this wasn't for
the show, right, No, see these guys on I'll pull
up another one on the stage. See these guys on stage.
They're performing music right there. They're singing right now. Okay,
he was a duo with percussion in the back seat.
There's another guy in the band. Uh he was backstage,
like there isn't a back age. So over over here
is where that's my monitor guy here, and this is
(08:22):
where all the audio gear is, right and you know,
here's the front house system. And then over here's little
tent where all the artists are and they keep their
cases under there, so not in the sun. And you know,
you'd think, well, maybe the video person would set up
under this tent or we are, or behind the stage,
or maybe this little area in the back behind where
(08:43):
there's you know, any of those, because he has screens
to look at it but nah, dude was dialed in
here mane like, so once he gets working. Here's a
picture from the stage, is between bands that I'm micing
up stuff. Oh so well, this is a from the
stage to him sitting literally in front of these subs.
He looks like he's concentrating really fucking like but I
(09:06):
can't think because of how loud it is. Look at this,
Look at this one. Look at the zoom on this.
He's look at the sub is taking up the whole thing.
Speaker 6 (09:15):
He's like, why the fu?
Speaker 1 (09:17):
The camera is on a tripod on a fold up table.
Speaker 7 (09:22):
He's doing a stream. He's streaming.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
Yeah, but he doesn't have to be there, is it
because the camera has to be there? He was just like,
what happened? But this is the thing.
Speaker 6 (09:33):
Is he just doing this?
Speaker 1 (09:35):
Is he doing this because he likes doing this? Or
did they actually ask him to do it? Because they
had they paid us to do stuff, Like couldn't they
hire like another Yeah, he's put the Usually usually I
would tell him like, hey, man, you should probably move,
but I thought this was so hilarious. I was like, no,
let's see if he stays here.
Speaker 6 (09:56):
He's like looking up other jobs people were.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
Getting on stage. He he's are getting on stage and
asked me, like, what's the.
Speaker 8 (10:04):
Doing that?
Speaker 1 (10:04):
What's wrong? Or like, what's wrong? Is something?
Speaker 3 (10:07):
Bro?
Speaker 6 (10:07):
He looks confused about his job.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
He's thinking really hard. He's looking at his MacBook. No,
that's one of my phone. That's not a mac book.
Speaker 6 (10:13):
That's not that. That's a crack book.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
Yeah, that'scot that definitely has a window right there. Uh
this dude, right, you know, this might be the cover art. Actually,
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (10:27):
We could do that.
Speaker 1 (10:28):
That we can put on We'll put another head on there,
or we can at least we at least need the
picture of maybe the setup. That's more. That's this. Yeah
that here we go. Here's a close up of how
good his gear?
Speaker 6 (10:43):
That's that's kind of the pit. That's kind of the
artwork right there.
Speaker 1 (10:47):
Pretty much artwork.
Speaker 6 (10:48):
Yeah, please go ahead and send that to the thread.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
I'll send that. Hell yeah that's crazy all right, man,
that's what I feel like.
Speaker 6 (10:56):
That's an amazing meme somehow.
Speaker 1 (10:59):
Oh yeah, I mean even the picture of the dude
would be a good meme. That would word bubble over it.
Speaker 6 (11:05):
Yeah, yeah, just send them both out.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
I'll put that up on our Rumble account.
Speaker 6 (11:12):
Yep, it's fine as on Rumble guys, Hussy's hussies on Rumble.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
That's where you can hear all the strumbles without getting
uh struck by YouTube?
Speaker 6 (11:25):
Alrighty, yes, uh was that it?
Speaker 1 (11:28):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (11:28):
No?
Speaker 1 (11:29):
Then now the big news for me, Yes, everybody out there,
I know there's a lot of people who listen to
us and a lot of friends of ours that we
have that definitely here and Richmond went to the King
Gizzards and the Lizard Wizard Show King Gizzard Concert. Who
uh Yes, I'm hearing people talking of their devices saying like,
(11:50):
yes we went. Uh. I was very excited to go.
I've seen them before. It was long. It's like probably
like it's like twenty sixteen or something, so it's a
long time ago. But they were hitting there. It was
right when they're hitting their stride of becoming American famous. Okay.
So also it was amazing show killer in a very
(12:12):
small outdoor venue in Austin, like during like a festival. Yeah,
it's killer. It was awesome. Yeah, And I'd known about
them beforehand, so I was psyched to see them then. Yeah,
so they came back in town. They played Brown's Island,
and first of all, before I go off the video,
(12:32):
I don't know who did video in sound if like,
I know they brought in there in front of house people.
I know that for sure, but I don't know who
provided the sound system and who did all video stuff.
But it was like production was insanely good. Also, they
had also a meer system. They were just like very
very nice. The sound systems. Yeah really really it's like
(12:55):
the ones when you look up the price you have
to call to ask how much they are. Okay, but
sound of there was I think maybe the best sounding
Brown's Island show I've been to because it was loud,
but it wasn't it didn't hurt, you know what I mean.
It wasn't harsh at all and you could hear everything.
It was. I say that like amazing but undoubtedly best
(13:18):
production overall of Annie Brown's Island you've ever been to. Okay,
So that aside, I was very disappointed, and I was
very angry with what happened, what went down, So I
was I'm gonna interject, So I was watching the stream
because I couldn't.
Speaker 7 (13:34):
I didn't get a ticket in a concert. I've thought
about it.
Speaker 11 (13:37):
But it was also hot and I was so happy
that the stream was up and the stream was amazing.
Same thing talking about the production value, the several cameras,
like one camera that was obviously walking around stage, another
camera that was like side stage, and then the sound
coming off of the board was amazing. Like I was
listening to it all my speakers in my living room. Yeah, amazing.
Listened to it on the headphones for a second. It
(13:57):
was still amazing, And my phone was going crazy because
half the people on my phone were like having a blast,
and then other half of people on my phone were
like complaining the whole time. Yep split between the music
people and then like the fans uk carry on.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
Yeah, uh oh okay. So so they are doing this gig,
they start out, I'm gonna pull some pictures up of
what how the show opened, because this is just uncalled for.
Uh So it starts up just the drummer is on
his instrum. He's like there from the beginning. He starts
playing drum shit. Then then the members of the band
(14:36):
come out and they're not like they're mostly playing guitar keys,
but everybody comes out to this like folding table in
the middle of the stage and on this folding table
are a bunch of and I'll switch over to here.
Uh there's like a bunch of drum machines and like synthesizers,
(14:57):
and it looks like, man, it's like they went to
a that's not very good. It's like they went to
guitar center. And then we're like, yo, look at all
these cool like modular synths and stuff like that. And
they all hooked them up and they're all jamming out,
having a great time. It looked very fun, very fun
to be up there doing that. So that goes on
for thirty minutes. One of the guys and now, because
(15:21):
I'm having a bad time, I definitely looked at the
clock and and documented it. Thirty minutes of this shit.
Eventually one of the guys goes over and picks up
a guitar. It keeps going this self indulgent, fucking you know,
we are They're like they are and they are wilding out.
They love this. They're having a I can tell from
where I am they're having a blast. Uh. So this
(15:45):
goes on every about thirty minutes. I'm like they're putting it.
The crew comes out, they pull the folding table away,
and I was like Okay, this shit, this shit is
finally fucking over. I was like, all right, let's get
these guitars out, boy. So they start playing. It's like
normal stuff whatever the game. The first song, I was like, okay,
this is kind of like that. You know, they're doing
(16:06):
like that that seventies type of thing, psychedelics deal. And
I was like, okay, I'd dig that. You know, this
is their new Their new album is like this. It's
Southern grateful Dead, yeah beforem Australia. So I gave them
a pass. Next song kind of like that, but you know,
what are you gonna do?
Speaker 3 (16:26):
Boy?
Speaker 1 (16:26):
It's oh, here's I'm sorry. This is just to go
back on that other thing. Here's a better picture of
what it looked like when they were on stage playing
with Guitar Center toys. Look at this. Of course they're rich.
Now they can go. They went to Guitar Center bought
(16:47):
the nicest stuff, and then before they go back to Australia,
they're gonna return this.
Speaker 7 (16:51):
Shit put an album out with it.
Speaker 6 (16:52):
Yeah yeah, they record that.
Speaker 1 (16:54):
Yeah all right, so anyway, uh so the next song
is kind of that and I was like, all right, well,
they're playing the new stuff here. We go, another thirty
minutes have gone by. Now it's switched from horrible electronic
music to horrible jam band music. And you know what,
I feel like, shame on, fool on me, whatever you say,
like that thing, shame on full. Yeah. When I showed
(17:18):
up and I saw all these wookie looking people, like
dread white people with dreads and tie die and like,
you know, people that look like they have nitrous balloons
with them and stuff. That's when I was like, oh no,
oh no, wait a minute, you forgot that. I was like,
And when I started to realize what was going on,
I was like, first of all, it was hurt personally
that they would do this shit.
Speaker 12 (17:39):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (17:39):
Second of all, I started to be angry because I
swore I saw a footage from this this tour, like
from two weeks ago or two weeks before the show.
I saw of them doing that sludgy like tuned down stuff,
you know, like the that that was on the double album.
Yeah yeah, and they were doing that song and like
that type of thing. And I was like, oh shit, yeah,
(18:01):
I can't wait to see this. And then I was like, okay, well,
I know they played for a long time, so maybe
they're just like trying to play everything right, Man, seventy
minutes go by, man, seventy fucking minute jamming Jammy, you
don't even forgot they were jammering jam ban. But jamming
(18:22):
and improvising doesn't necessarily mean jam band. They used to
do that shit with like drony, like dissonant sounding things, yeah,
you know, but now this seems like, no, there's very
diatonic jammy and I did not like it. It's like
grateful dead style, you know, It's like, what the fuck.
So after seventy minutes, they break the cycle of jam
band and they do a couple of rock and tunes.
(18:44):
Not they do old old ones, yeah, but they do,
you know, they do some stuff. I was like, Okay,
maybe this is where the show pivots. Now. Granted the
tunes they weren't playing definitely were not bangers, but they
weren't jam ban. Yeah. So I was like, right, there
were songs, yes, songs, yeah, and they put for about
twelve minutes they played like three songs okay that were rocking,
like fuzzed out bass and kind of punkish, yeah, you know,
(19:07):
like MC five. Yeah. Then man, dude, shit got dark.
It went back to the jam band world and not
just was it the all the worst qualities of jam
band everything. But there's one of the guys, like they
a lot of them play keys and guitar, like multi
(19:27):
instrumental stuff. Well, one of these guys, I don't know
if you've ever seen Quelus and the News and that
guy plays guitar and sacks and like shreds. Yeah, you've
seen that ship. That dude's pretty cool. Well not this guy.
One of the one of the five guitar players Sex
had a saxophone. And I actually have video of this.
Speaker 6 (19:48):
Okay.
Speaker 11 (19:49):
I was texting the thread, I was texting the I
was watching the stream and I was like, yo, so the.
Speaker 1 (19:55):
Same time that you've put it, put down the saxophone.
I texted some somebody else that picture and said put
down the saxophone. And then it said Reggie Pace put
down this agaphone. And I thought you sent my text
message back to me and I was like, I wasn't
even talking him. So I think I think the audience
are like, nah, hey went down the damn saxophone. So
here is here's some video of saxophone playing. Sounds like
(20:23):
the Grateful Dead bro.
Speaker 6 (20:24):
It sounds exactly like the Grateful Dead.
Speaker 1 (20:32):
Bronawski has a pretty low I wonder why.
Speaker 5 (20:41):
Wiggling up.
Speaker 1 (20:43):
I don't even play Saxon. I know that's not right,
but that sounded like the grateful Dead. Dude, like grateful dead.
Like that sounds more like the grateful Dead than fish.
Sounds like the grateful Dead. Yeah, that's crazy, more than
dating companies sounds like, yes, that is insane, Like they
go I know they go through these phases, but like
and they emulate and try to experiment with different stuff,
(21:05):
but this is like not what they should be. There's
a step back. This is not my favorite verson of them. No,
it's by dude, I went there, fucking you know. I
got another video just to show you.
Speaker 11 (21:14):
Like, honestly, that's that's a southern rock album, not for me,
neither the most recent the most recent one. Yeah, I
can't get behind that.
Speaker 1 (21:23):
Like I took a video of this is what really
shows you where I'm dealing with you broke my foot.
Speaker 11 (21:28):
Broh please ye call them.
Speaker 1 (21:34):
So check this out. This is just me showing you
what audience perspective, what it looks like. This is the audience,
this is this is the animals I'm with here they
all into it broke. Some people are some people wait
for some people taking something else.
Speaker 11 (21:55):
This song forever bro Those people were soaking they love
that ship.
Speaker 6 (22:03):
They eating it.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
I love it. I know. That's what's so fucking sad, dude,
I hate It's.
Speaker 7 (22:08):
Like you forgot about jam bands.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
Well I didn't expect them to to do it the
whole show, do me dirty like that, the whole show
twelve minutes and went back this ship. Motherfucker thinks he's
he's Michael Brecker up there. Uh it was, dude, it's
so stressed. So then I was just telling everybody I
could how awful the thing was, and a lot of
people were hitting me up, going you know what, I
thought the same thing, and I was like, right, secretly
(22:32):
they were musicians, thought the same. No, not musicians, non
musicians were calling or hitting me out like yeah, just
regular music fans being like, that's not what I expected
it to be. Like, I was like, thank you, you know.
Speaker 6 (22:43):
What, well sorry. The people that saw they were like,
this is the best show of the year.
Speaker 11 (22:49):
I didn't have I would getting a lot of those
this is the best show. People like selfie in themselves
sweating their asses off it was hot.
Speaker 1 (22:55):
Yeah, hot out there, Danny. I was sorry. Danny was like,
I thought it was pretty good, and I'm like, of course.
Speaker 7 (23:00):
You would, jam yea hippie, he's having a blast.
Speaker 1 (23:05):
Jesus. I was there with Josh Barman, and I was like, dude,
what the fuck is going on? Though probably Josh wasn't
as annoyed as me, but he even even in the middle,
I be like, dude, what the fuck? What the hell
in the wild world a grateful dead is going on
with this band that I have seen me really cool for.
There was no fucking rattlesnake, There was no guitars with
(23:27):
extra frets, there was no sludgy stuff. It's like, listen,
I know they're very prolific and do a lot of
different things, but do we have to do just one thing?
Can we not get?
Speaker 3 (23:36):
That? Was?
Speaker 11 (23:37):
That was That's what I was just about to ask,
like why what do you how do you feel about
a band? Like how does a band deal with the
fact that they have a very wide catalog? I'll tell
you right, and all of them are successful, you know
what I mean. It's not like their jam catalog isn't successful.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
Stuff, you know what I mean? So, like what do
you do?
Speaker 11 (23:57):
You think you sprinkle one in one song from each
era and so like into the cond like like teas
with the eras, sprinkle it all in there. Or do
you theme shows because the audience isn't gonna know.
Speaker 1 (24:08):
I think you have to have both. I think if
it's a big, big tour where you have the ability
to play as long as you want and more a
longer form concert, uh, then I think you definitely really
should do a variety unless you and there's a thing
I don't care if you play an all jam band show.
It advertises that though. I mean, like hey we are
(24:31):
doing or yeah, we are doing these three albums. You know,
it's like you know, and be like even I I'll
even buy if they're if they go, hey, it's like
a completely different setup from the other setups we have,
like instrumentation and gear wise, so it's easier for us
and more cohesive to do just this period. And some
bands have been around for a long time role like that,
(24:51):
you know, like I think like David Bowie would do
old stuff, but the way he did it would be
however the band sounded at that time, you know, I mean,
and that kept it all relative but I think sometimes, yeah,
it is weird. Like Van Halen at their peak in
the eighties, when they were doing you know, from the
late seventies to like the beginning of the nineties, they
(25:12):
had so much different material, and Alex van Halen would
do different drum setups each thing, and they'd sound vastly different.
So for like one tour and they could afford it,
they had four drum sets that are all completely different
from the whole his whole career, and so it'd be
like nineteen eighty four drum set with the octabon or
the roto toms and stuff. They go to the original
(25:34):
drum set from van Halen one, which is more like
a they're getting they're getting nerdy with it, but it
was part of their thing was they did make it
sound like the records. There's ad libbing on vocals and
some guitar fills and shit, but it pretty much sounded
like the vibe of that. And I think King Gizzard
if their vibe they're going for was that those jam
band southern rock albums, and it's great, but when they
(25:56):
have that much different stuff, you kind of got at
least give a clue of like what type of things
are performing, and because the band as a bunch of
people that can play different things, the combinations of what
you can do are pretty expansive.
Speaker 11 (26:11):
So you're saying they need to like accountable to the
whole catalog.
Speaker 1 (26:16):
I think it would be cool if they either play
yes an even variety on a long show, or if
they're not doing that, they kind of should give a
hint of like what they're doing. I feel like like
it was very misleading to see them doing a show
with all the sludge metal stuff and then I and
then two three weeks later I get fucking the Grateful Dead.
(26:36):
So that's just.
Speaker 11 (26:37):
Weird, because what do you think about, you know, especially
people who have been on the road for a while,
you know, Bruce Springsteen or something like that, Like you
think he has to play something from his old catalog
every night?
Speaker 1 (26:49):
Yeah, you know what I mean?
Speaker 6 (26:51):
Yeah, I mean, here's the thing I think. I think
to what James is talking about, I mean, how long
is because.
Speaker 11 (26:56):
They're not even that old of a band, but they
get so many albums around around.
Speaker 1 (27:00):
I mean, at least I guess in America doing stuff.
I think it's like twenty twelve or twenty.
Speaker 7 (27:06):
The show's been going on. We've been checking them out
since the beginning.
Speaker 6 (27:08):
Yes, yeah, I think they To me, they seem like
extremely still very young, which is like when I when
I look at the pictures of them, I'm like, oh,
these guys are like still like yeah.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
They don't have to suck yet they don't.
Speaker 6 (27:19):
So you know, I think that definitely they are probably
going to do some something like that. But as that's
a good point you bring up, like Bruce Springsteen or
something like that, I feel like that, you know, it
depends on what kind of audience that you're looking for, right.
Speaker 11 (27:35):
Maybe bigger because if the place is big, you would
think you would have to do your most your broad.
Speaker 6 (27:40):
Well known stuff though, but maybe they're like at the
fuck it phase right now because they're making so much
money or whatever the tours sold out.
Speaker 11 (27:49):
They be like, guess what kind of show we're about
to have, you know, and tell their audience to be
like okay, so.
Speaker 6 (27:55):
Maybe so maybe it's figuring out what at some point,
what kind of audience they're trying to serve or what
they're trying to what they're trying to get back, like.
Speaker 11 (28:03):
Name the tour in the USA tour, it's real. Yeah,
because that's it. That is a legend to the South.
Speaker 7 (28:10):
I said, think that they're.
Speaker 6 (28:11):
Finding themselves in that way just because I mean there's
a lot of bands that have done that, you know,
faith no more. I'm reading the book up the Black
Crows where they kind of like they kind of take
their career almost away from what they're known for and
just go, well, we're gonna like we're gonna go jam
bands that they kind of win jam band.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
Yeah, they were. They were like, we're gonna be open
about it.
Speaker 6 (28:33):
Yeah, they were like, we're gonna you know, hard to handle.
Might be thirteen minutes tonight, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
Also, and also this is the thing. It's a huge
concert with pretty pricey tickets. Like you know, if you're
just going to a bar to see a band, they
can play whatever they want, go fuck yourself. Yeah, but
like this is like a pretty big production show, more
than I would usually pay to see a band. Yes, Yes,
And that was kind of like, huh that's interesting. Yeah, yeah, yeah, interesting.
(29:02):
They have the right to do whatever they fucking.
Speaker 11 (29:04):
Want because their albums really do sound like a different
band sometimes, Yes, they really do that ship.
Speaker 6 (29:10):
So yeah, I mean that was the That was the
surprised with seeing this. I was just like, what the fuck?
Speaker 1 (29:15):
And maybe I should have known this all along, like
because I'm not familiar with them enough in their live shows,
maybe they do completely abandon everything else and only play
like the last couple of albums, like the Rattlesnake era
they only played auto tune guitars, and then now it's
jam band era. It's you know, like this had cool
(29:35):
guitars home. You had one of these old Yamaha like
sixties surf guitars. Really cool. It's like called the Flying
Samurai or something like that.
Speaker 3 (29:44):
Tight.
Speaker 6 (29:45):
All right, Well that was a that was an awesome
deep dive into that. I don't have that much news,
so that was cool. Let's let's go into some music news.
Among Let's see here we called it a long time
ago Oasis back together gaining numbers. I mean, the rumor
(30:08):
is that they're gonna be it's gonna be a four
hundred mili type of situation.
Speaker 1 (30:12):
I believe that actually makes it to the band.
Speaker 6 (30:15):
That makes it to the band. I mean they're bringing
everybody's back breakdown. Uh, they're doing I mean the majority.
Speaker 3 (30:22):
Of that money.
Speaker 1 (30:22):
You think they're in a three sixty years so no.
Speaker 6 (30:24):
No, the majority of the money is going to come
from Europe. It's not gonna how.
Speaker 1 (30:27):
Does a break down the band because there's no way
Noel is getting paid.
Speaker 6 (30:31):
No dude after taxes of course, not go slicing the half.
And then again, they're going to tour America and they're
going to only do probably eight dates, so they're.
Speaker 1 (30:39):
Eating some other way.
Speaker 6 (30:40):
They're eating some bread like on that. So it's all
going to be Europe. They have a huge European tour
that's all profits and like that's and they're not doing
any festivals. They're not going to do anything to break
away from the routing of that tour. That's also going
to have them saved. And they're probably not going to
have a crazy show, crazy.
Speaker 7 (31:01):
Show, spending a ship ton of lights and all that.
Speaker 3 (31:04):
I don't think.
Speaker 1 (31:05):
I think they never did that. I don't think. Yeah,
they're gonna make a ship ton of money.
Speaker 6 (31:08):
Well, I mean that's probably that's probably why they were
like why should we take you know, any kind of
debt whatever, But they're gonna do it however they want
to do it. Plus depending on who's promoting it, all
of that stuff. A lot of that shit's gonna be
just taking care of it anyways. It's like when Roxy
Music they did like a they did a eighteen date
tour or something like that a couple of years ago.
(31:29):
They haven't toured America in forever, Like you know, Roxy
Music is like kind of like.
Speaker 1 (31:34):
Does Brian on the tour?
Speaker 6 (31:36):
No, No, he was supposedly he was rumored to do it,
but he did decide not to. But they like a
third tier, you know, classic band and live nation. They
were just like, yeah, we'll put well, you guys will
get paid. Doesn't matter if the show sells out or not. Nope,
like we're gonna we'll take off of you know, a
thousand seats or two thousand whatever, you guys. Everybody was
(31:58):
still get paid, no problem, no worries, And this is
this is that kind of deal. I mean, they just
know they're going to make so much bread from this.
It doesn't matter if it's just going to be a
huge European excursion with like eight US.
Speaker 11 (32:12):
Dates, it's gonna be more than that, and also more
than that unless it either all falls through, right, it
either just all falls through. First month, you know, they
fight on fist fight on stage, and that's that's that's
an option, or it's going to be expanded.
Speaker 7 (32:32):
Man, there's no way they're on us dates.
Speaker 1 (32:34):
Man, give the brothers shot collars. They're gonna do what
they take off and if they start acting up, you
shock both of them.
Speaker 7 (32:41):
Yeah, they're gonna do so many dates they beg for them.
Speaker 6 (32:45):
No, you're one hundred percent right.
Speaker 5 (32:47):
They are.
Speaker 6 (32:48):
They're trying to act like it's going.
Speaker 7 (32:49):
To be this and that they wait to see if
they can do it.
Speaker 6 (32:51):
Because they said because they said that, they came out
and denied that they were not playing any festival dates.
But I believe that's bullshit because they just.
Speaker 7 (33:00):
Don't want to announce that you'll be on Coach Ella.
Speaker 6 (33:02):
They're gonna be on Coach.
Speaker 13 (33:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:03):
Well they also want to make sure they can drop
out of anything they're committing to ship. That's exactly right.
Speaker 11 (33:09):
Yeah, they'll move some dates and a lot of the
Coach lu and all the rest of them.
Speaker 6 (33:13):
Yeah, they're gonna get more offers for more days because.
Speaker 11 (33:15):
You don't have to worry about selling tickets or something
like that. So you take you just pick those up,
especially it has a headliner, they will yeah, and.
Speaker 6 (33:22):
Whoever is going to be the opener for some of
those dates. That's just gonna make it even cooler.
Speaker 7 (33:27):
And it's gonna be perfect for them.
Speaker 1 (33:29):
Do you think they're even gonna have an opener though, Yeah,
they'll bend. They don't especially.
Speaker 6 (33:36):
I mean it's kind of like, you know, it's kind
of like Blur man Like literally, even though Oasis they
have more hits in the US, Blur, I mean, Blur
is the same kind of thing. They're only really known
for the song too, but they have a couple other
hits that people were like vaguely aware of.
Speaker 11 (33:51):
Yeah, I think they're perfect for Coach Ella too, because
like the dude from Blur, he he had a hissy
fit from Coach the Coachella audience. Imagine how the the
brothers will What did he do with kids? You know,
if he was just upset, he wouldn't get cheered enough,
he wouldn't get enough chair.
Speaker 6 (34:06):
He was doing like he was trying to do some
call response and stuff, and the crowd like did not
do and he was like, well, that's the last time
you're going to be seeing it. Roby never going to
see us again once. Probably make some noise.
Speaker 11 (34:19):
He's a bunch of kids have their phones in the
air and Coachella got on like you know, dative American
headdresses and ship they're gonna be like, look, they're gonna
like they're gonna go viral. People will say something.
Speaker 6 (34:29):
People are not gonna know the majority of those songs,
you know, unless.
Speaker 11 (34:33):
It's fan is gonna be out there, give you a
bunch of dads out there.
Speaker 6 (34:36):
But yeah, that's the thing I will say. That's that's
the other thing too. Oasis has sold way more records
than Blur. Oh yeah, especially and especially those two records,
the uh definitely Maybe album and what's the story? Those
are those.
Speaker 1 (34:50):
Album bangers, And that's what people imagine if they went
on tour didn't play any of those songs.
Speaker 11 (34:55):
Every every party in America has wonder Wall going off
like that never went away. It's happening to the standards
to modern Somebody just playing Wonderwall on an acoustic guitar
at a frat party tonight, yeah somewhere.
Speaker 6 (35:10):
Fact, And that's part of the deal. If they're doing
this tour, they're gonna they have to play the hits.
Speaker 1 (35:17):
Yeah, that's the reason why.
Speaker 6 (35:18):
Like again, like the Black Crows or somebody like when
they when they came back, they came back and did
like a fool shake your money Maker tour, right because
they're like, we're gonna play the hits because we haven't
played them for like thirty years, saying like, you know.
Speaker 11 (35:31):
We finally want to finally want to get paid and
not work so hard.
Speaker 6 (35:34):
Yeah. Yeah. Liam Liam is like I'm done with his
soul career. Like he's like, I'm pretty much pretty much
retired after this, because I mean it's gonna be that
much bread. Probably because they were t r L.
Speaker 11 (35:46):
Even though they were a rock band, they also were
right there with like Mariah Carey and you know, in sync.
Yeah yeah, and they were right there so in a
different you know, so they're huge.
Speaker 6 (35:57):
Yeah yeah. Okay, let's see what else we got here.
The Netflix doc Mister McMahon only on Netflix September twenty fifth,
The Rise and Fall of Vince McMahon.
Speaker 1 (36:14):
Is it a dramatized one or is it a documentary?
Speaker 6 (36:17):
I mean I would say it's probably a real doc.
But because they've been putting this together, I've heard about
it for a minute.
Speaker 1 (36:24):
They got a trailer.
Speaker 6 (36:25):
Uh No, I haven't seen a trailer yet. I just
saw the announcement or announcement. I'm sure that's I'm sure
it's gonna be fantastic. I'm actually really excited about what,
you know anything about. It's the rise and fall. It
is the rise and fall of Vince McMahon because because
he's like getting canceled, he's or as a recent.
Speaker 7 (36:46):
Recently just recently.
Speaker 1 (36:47):
Yeah, it's well, it's like stuff like from his whole career, correct, Yeah.
Speaker 6 (36:51):
Yeah, but yeah, it's crazy.
Speaker 1 (36:53):
He the person he portrayed on WWE raw is the
same person he is in real life. He's that nuts. Yeah.
Speaker 11 (37:02):
Yeah, he's a nuts like million millionaire from like a movie.
Speaker 1 (37:07):
Yes, and he was on steroids and he wrestles. I
remember some interviewer, Patresea O'Neil. He said he used to
work for WWE as a writer, and he said the
only other like grown man outside of like a prison
context or something that's like scared the ship out of
him is Vince McMahon because he's just giant and super
(37:30):
rich but also just crazy, like in you know, reactionary
and very weird. Even the stuff when you find out
about his like plot stuff you wanted to do where
like him and his daughter were hooking up or something
like that.
Speaker 11 (37:44):
It was like what they did, he did some pretty
crazy shit in that attitude era.
Speaker 7 (37:49):
I know, I know what you're talking about.
Speaker 11 (37:51):
They were talking about that time that they had this
plot of like an Iranian guy, right and versus like
some all America guy and then they like did a
fake like beheading video that was like at the time
in which that was happening in real life.
Speaker 1 (38:06):
Yes, you cannot do that. It's the Undertaker and the
Undertaker that's the Taker gets shot by the.
Speaker 11 (38:12):
Taliban, and they they make it. They make it look
like one of those videos.
Speaker 1 (38:18):
The fucking Prayer, like you just like an actual beheading video.
It's insane and it's on Tuesday or Monday Night raw
or whatever. It was like there crazy. The one dude
was like, behead him.
Speaker 11 (38:30):
It's nuts, right, and like that one dude, Mac Mood
or whatever, I think. Yeah, he was like expence. He
was like, hey, Mac, you know, my people actually don't
wear turbines that look like this. You know, like I'm
getting like calls from my family about having to wear
this turbu.
Speaker 1 (38:42):
You're gonna wear a turbine, put it on, You're fired.
Put on the turbine. God damn stone colds.
Speaker 11 (38:51):
Yeah, he's been he's been a long time coming for
getting canceled. Yeah, so, I mean he lasted for a
pretty long time. There was always rumors. Well, they only
sold it. I mean he's out of the company. They
sold it like The Rock. Now I guess is the
Rock doesn't triple h and his daughter.
Speaker 1 (39:08):
And a board.
Speaker 7 (39:10):
So yeah, that'd be interesting. I'm gonna watch that.
Speaker 6 (39:13):
Yeah, I'm gonna check it out for sure.
Speaker 7 (39:14):
He had here.
Speaker 6 (39:15):
Uh, let's see what we got here. Uh, speaking of
old people, Yeah, one of my favorite topics journey.
Speaker 1 (39:27):
Oh yeah, I saw some ship about the following journey
a couple of weeks in a row.
Speaker 6 (39:30):
Yeah, Well, Jonathan Kane won the lawsuit against which one
is that. This is the one where he said non
guitar players. Actually, Jonathan Kane also plays guitar too.
Speaker 1 (39:40):
He's uh, but he's not as good as Neil Sean.
Speaker 6 (39:43):
He plays guitar himself, because he wrote.
Speaker 1 (39:45):
Man, I'm trying to decipher the Jim right.
Speaker 6 (39:47):
He's the He's the Christian Republican one in the band.
That's that's the difference.
Speaker 1 (39:52):
Copy.
Speaker 6 (39:53):
He's gone and seen Trump A couple of times in
the White House and all that ship. Get the photo op,
you know, yeah, got his photo op. He's like super
Christian and he's.
Speaker 1 (40:03):
Just a he was trying to get the MAGA money
for like the they wanted to use his music and
a uh commercial or something, right, Okay, yeah, I didn't
want to use it for some Republican thing. That was
when everybody else was like no, He's like, you can't
do that. He's like, suck it, you know, He's like
d X him.
Speaker 8 (40:20):
And then and then it.
Speaker 1 (40:21):
Was again that's when they're like, oh, we're taking this
to court.
Speaker 6 (40:23):
And there's also footage of him playing on the keyboard, yes,
playing for like.
Speaker 1 (40:29):
I remember that. I remember that, Yes.
Speaker 6 (40:31):
And he's didn't sound good, horrible singing.
Speaker 1 (40:35):
Poor old dude thought he was gonna be the next
kid rock. He's like, oh yeah, I'm gonna we're gonna
you know, you're gonnadrink bud Light.
Speaker 6 (40:41):
And they definitely had they definitely felt like they had
a thing going on. But uh so he won against
Neil Sewan. But this was for saying that Nil Sean
spent too much money.
Speaker 1 (40:51):
Uh oh yeah, And the lawsuits happened before the card,
before the tour is even over, yeah, which is crazy.
Speaker 6 (40:58):
It's like literally concurrent with the two.
Speaker 1 (41:00):
Yeah, right now. The tour he's getting suit over is
the tour they are currently working together on.
Speaker 6 (41:04):
Yes, yes, and they canceled some dates, but they have
been playing right now. They've been playing uh on tour
and uh. He won the lawsuit against him saying that
that he is spending too much and going because it's
saying that they're putting the band in the red. And
you know he's spending like ten at least ten grand
a night, like just spending like mad, like just so
(41:30):
you know, he's not like just getting fucked up and stuff,
what type of decadent things. Just just like the hotel rooms,
he's spending way he's spending way too.
Speaker 1 (41:38):
Much, like the jewelry.
Speaker 6 (41:41):
And it's his wife is involved, remember that's all you
gotta say.
Speaker 11 (41:45):
And that his wife shopping and you know what, that
happens in bands even where you don't have that much money,
Like people aren't don't all agree about how much we
should spend on a hotel And that's.
Speaker 1 (41:54):
With like a regular band.
Speaker 11 (41:55):
Some people some people are like totally down with fucking
sleeping in the van in a Wall and be like, look, man,
we wasting the money on all these hotel rooms.
Speaker 1 (42:03):
Like that's totally a thing. Facts, So it carried on.
Speaker 6 (42:07):
Yeah, yeah, no, he he has been spending a lot,
like going Ham. You know, they're just living the life.
Uh And Jonathan kyn said, uh and uh, yeah he won.
So it's an awkward tour. It's an awkward too.
Speaker 7 (42:21):
While man, they've known each other too long, they just
make it.
Speaker 6 (42:25):
I think it's just I think it just could get
weird for some bands when they hit they hit it later,
like I think Journey they were doing fine, but then
they got more big. Some of these guys got big now,
like Toto they got huge. They're huge in America now
because of Africa and all that shit. Like they didn't
tour America for like twenty years, Like they didn't they
(42:48):
didn't do it because they.
Speaker 1 (42:49):
They were still turning during that time. Really yeah, I
thought it was just like on a hiatus for that.
You know, they stayed in Europe.
Speaker 6 (42:57):
They toured in Europe for years and that was how
they made their living, and then they didn't. They didn't
tour America until with Yes. I think it was Yes
our Journey in like twenty seventeen.
Speaker 1 (43:09):
It's like one of those things when you find out
mister Big has been playing in Japan consistently since the
early nineties.
Speaker 6 (43:15):
Facts. Facts, they could play the vudukhan, they could play
the bukhan over there, no problem, But like over here
they have a problem selling out a thousand sedar, you know,
and like and Toto was just like, we can't go big,
we can't whatever.
Speaker 11 (43:27):
But yeah, plenty of America hits now because yacht rock
came back, Yes, all.
Speaker 1 (43:32):
Of you know, all they came back.
Speaker 6 (43:33):
And like people started just figuring out that they were
who that's who they were. But like Rolling Stone, a
lot of those guys tried to kill a lot of
those bands, Journey, Toto, a lot of the dude, the
guys that lived in the studio really they thought they
were just like studio musicians that just like we're just
working deals in the studios and like and with the radios, like,
oh they know everybody, so that's why they're getting so
(43:56):
much radio play and shit like that.
Speaker 1 (43:58):
You know.
Speaker 6 (43:58):
It was just like, hey, hey, mostly Yon Winner for real,
God sucks, but uh yeah, awkward ass tour.
Speaker 3 (44:06):
I hope you guys.
Speaker 7 (44:07):
Uh Austin prayers.
Speaker 9 (44:08):
Yeah, he work it out.
Speaker 5 (44:09):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (44:12):
That's that's it as far as news, unless I'm forgetting anything.
I feel like that we could just.
Speaker 11 (44:17):
News one of I gotta I got a movie, a movie. Yeah,
and we're still going. We're still on Nicholas Cage. So
saw Nicholas Cage movie called Arcane, uh the other day
that I will, I will recommend it.
Speaker 1 (44:31):
I will recommend it, you will.
Speaker 11 (44:34):
It starts off Nicholas Cage is there's obviously some sort
of war, some sort of apocalyptic walking Dead type something
or other has happened in this town Hell, and there's explosions,
and you see Nicholas Cage running everywhere and he's looking
around and he's got two babies with him. He's got
two little babies and he's got and then it's it
skips fifteen years from there and it's about Nicholas Cage
(44:57):
in his house with his with his two sons and
they're trying to deal in this apocalyptic world and like
and it's not clear what the fuck has killed everybody
outside and then it unfolds throughout the movie. Very good.
I can't recommend it more. It's been a while. He's
been like, you know, when you got a kind of
guy like Nick Cage that's really feeling himself, you don't
know if the movie might just be ridiculous because he
(45:20):
was just like feeling himself and like, I went crazy.
I was screaming in this movie. And you see the
movie and it's terrible, but this one is great. So
I recommend R.
Speaker 1 (45:28):
Kane.
Speaker 7 (45:29):
He's the main character.
Speaker 11 (45:30):
And then like the kids, one of the kids from
those Wanda Vision is on there. I can't remember I
can't remember his name. Anyway, They're great cool. On what
else I saw? I saw Furioso, the Mad Max prequel.
That was pretty good. I got Homegirl from Queen's Gambit
is the main character. They made her look crazy, crazy
shit and is it a fake arm? Yeah, And it's
not a whole lot of dialogue. It's just awesome. It's
(45:52):
amazing to look at, you know. I would definitely recommend that.
That's that's that's a put it on. I feel like
I saw something. Oh Lee Daniel uh the director who
did you know Precious in some.
Speaker 1 (46:04):
Other huge monsters, huge movies.
Speaker 11 (46:06):
Yeah, he just dropped a horror movie, a black horror
movie on Netflix and called The Deliverance. It's kind of
like an exorcism kind of thing, not really, but a
different context, you know what I'm saying. And Monique is
in it, and Glenn Close is in it. Close is
in it, and Omar Epps isn't it for a small role,
(46:29):
and the kids are incredible, and this movie is good.
It's about this like mom, it's like a black mom
and like her husband said Iraq or something, you know,
and she has to move into this house for whatever reason.
Her mom's living with her in the house. Is like,
of course, all fun, you know, this is fun or whatever.
You know, So it's really good. Like you watch it
at first, you go like, I can't I can't tell
(46:52):
what kind of movie this is. Is this like some
sort of just sad hood drama, but it's not, and
it just like it's great. I recommend it that living.
If you like horror movies, it's about that time to
start watching.
Speaker 1 (47:03):
Like the Ship.
Speaker 6 (47:03):
I've seen a lot of Ship talking about Glenn closing
this movie that she's like incredible, She's incredible in it.
Supposed he is really good in this too.
Speaker 11 (47:10):
Monique and Monique Monique is Monique is good in every movie.
I feel like I've ever seen her in.
Speaker 1 (47:16):
Monique is surprisingly better at acting than you think. Yes,
she's talk. I think she's better at acting than comedy.
I agree. I agree. She felt the same way about
uh this doubt fire Robin Williams. You know, I mean,
here's a better dramatic act. I think his comedy was
corny and like, I agree, like Robin Williams is your
(47:37):
favorite comedian if you're nine.
Speaker 11 (47:39):
It was like his comedy peak was like before our time,
you know what I mean, Like I feel like we
were kids though, But that was his break was moregan
many like that was before our time. That he was
like killing the comedy clubs.
Speaker 1 (47:52):
Right, you know, he was on cocaine killing. I remember him.
I first was aware of him doing those relief thing,
which was late and that's so that's what I associate.
And then after that it was misdoubted kids movies and ship. Yeah.
But then when he finally did like that one movie
based on the guy on the phone that called McDonald's
(48:14):
and said he was like security or some ship like that,
oh right, and got people to take shit. Yeah, he
was Uh, it was like a episode of Law and Order. Yeah,
Law and order. Yeah, that was an amazing one.
Speaker 11 (48:26):
Another good piece of a movie, a TV that's got
a studio in it. Funny studio scene in that one.
Speaker 1 (48:33):
And then isn't he also in another one where he's
photo Yeah, but there are these dark roles and you're like, wow,
he's really good. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (48:41):
Also, even though I like his stand up, I think
Mark Marin is actually a good Uh agreed. I think
he's a really good victor. He's been because he's been
in some ship that I was just like, dude, I mean,
he pulls it off, he's gonna and he consistently acts too.
Speaker 1 (48:55):
But uh yeah, interest y, what were we talking about?
Speaker 7 (48:57):
Remember?
Speaker 6 (48:58):
Uh just talking about movies?
Speaker 7 (49:00):
Oh yeah, yeah, who was good in the movie? Oh
yeah Monique?
Speaker 6 (49:02):
Yeah yeah, No, Monique is always good.
Speaker 1 (49:05):
She had that thing.
Speaker 11 (49:07):
Well, they see Lee Daniels movie, So that beef must
be squashed. Yes, so I must have. They must have
squashed it a couple of years. I must have watched it.
Speaker 6 (49:16):
She definitely squatched it with Yeah. Yeah, Lee Daniels has
been uh squashing it as as we used to. Oprah,
still waiting on the word squashed yet, Okay, I think
we should do man big gups guitarist Russell Malone. Man,
(49:40):
I was on tour with Ron Carter and uh during
the like literally during the show or after the show,
I believe had heart attack. Ron Carter put this on
his Facebook and Instagram and stuff. I think they were
in Japan and he passed away. He's just super sad.
I mean, amazing guitarists so good.
Speaker 1 (50:00):
Uh.
Speaker 11 (50:01):
He was on all of the compilations that I used
to you know, go to like drug stores and get
all the jazz compilations with my parents.
Speaker 7 (50:08):
Would be doing something else, it.
Speaker 11 (50:09):
Would always be at least one or two of him
like killing it killing like Anita Baker song or something.
Speaker 6 (50:16):
Yeah, because he was he was kind of like the
like if you want to get George Benson like guitar
on your ship, Like Russell Alone was that guy, and
they kind of kind of made they kind of dressed
him up to be like that. He had like the
little afro, he had the mustache.
Speaker 7 (50:33):
She didn't know what he looked like.
Speaker 6 (50:34):
Yeah, he had the he kind of had that look.
He had that vibe. So yeah, if you he was
like he was on that.
Speaker 1 (50:41):
Well, he was on a bunch of Diana Crawl stuff. Yeah,
man killing a lot, killing almost as many as like
maybe the most of that single really, but he was
the man of stuff, you know, David David Samborn albums,
Yeah yeah, Kenny Barn stuff, Gina Carter.
Speaker 6 (51:05):
He was actively out on the scene.
Speaker 1 (51:07):
You know.
Speaker 6 (51:07):
I followed him on social media and stuff, and he
would always be out checking music, always like you know,
key keying it up, you know what I mean with
the all the jazz dudes and stuff. It's just dope.
So just and he also just seemed like he had
like just a dope like vibe to him. And it's
so it's really really unfortunate that he's gonna be you know,
(51:30):
he's moved on mad makeups, makeups. Man, one more here,
let me know, let me know from the beginning. One
uh fatman Scoop. I mean one of the most iconic voices,
and not only like in radio, but like just in culture,
(51:53):
like hip hop culture, the whole nine. I mean, his
voice made it onto so many songs.
Speaker 9 (52:00):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (52:00):
His voice was used as a drop uh for I
mean everybody. I mean they put it on their remixes
and whatever. Yeah, if you heard the if you've heard it,
you would know who I'm talking about.
Speaker 1 (52:13):
We should.
Speaker 11 (52:14):
I mean so popular that you know, his mix of versions,
his mix of hits became songs that DJ still play.
Like you hear him mixing that Faith Evans song back
and forth with like let Me Clear my throat or
something else. He's like like, that's you hear that everywhere? Yeah,
Like and that's the version you hear most of the time.
Speaker 1 (52:36):
What a Lady is that?
Speaker 11 (52:38):
You know?
Speaker 1 (52:38):
Boom?
Speaker 6 (52:40):
Yeah? Is that the one?
Speaker 1 (52:43):
Yeah? Yeah, because.
Speaker 6 (52:47):
Yeah yeah, And then they would do that, but then
they would do the they would do the transition the
bo and like during the transition like.
Speaker 1 (52:57):
In that stage.
Speaker 6 (53:00):
Yeah yeah, I mean he would just his voice was
just unbelievable. It was just a huge song.
Speaker 11 (53:10):
Yeah yeah, fat Man Scoop. He then says his name
right now control, Oh yeah, yeah he's on that.
Speaker 6 (53:19):
Yeah, He's on several Missy Elliott joints.
Speaker 11 (53:22):
I would say, play yeah, Sierra Drop, Yeah Drop Yeah, Sierra,
Missy Elliott Drop, but Timberlane and McGoo. Missy Elliott Drop
was like one of the big dance hits that his
voice is all over. But I mean, I just feel
like it went out all the way through high school
and on one of three jams.
Speaker 1 (53:42):
I feel like I just heard him all the time. Yeah,
all day.
Speaker 6 (53:45):
His voice was everywhere, super young, fifty two years old.
Also while on stage. I couldn't even watch that video
and unfortunately, like that's like gone out the on TMZ
video of him collapsing.
Speaker 7 (54:02):
I couldn't watch it.
Speaker 6 (54:03):
I could not watch that. But you know, he I
know he's had some health problems in recent years, but
he had lost a bunch of weight and actually looked
he looked really good because he was really big before.
He lost a lot of a lot of weight and
was looking like he was doing a lot better. So
this was just like so sudden to hear this, you know,
(54:26):
because it's just he's just iconic.
Speaker 1 (54:28):
Man, just what I feel like an idiot like drop.
Speaker 6 (54:34):
Yeah, drop Missy Elliott.
Speaker 1 (54:36):
Seriously. Yeah, it's like it doesn't exist on Spotify. Maybe
it's not uh on streaming.
Speaker 6 (54:46):
How about uh let's see lose control. Just do lose control.
Speaker 13 (54:52):
That's the that's the best one after.
Speaker 1 (55:09):
That's him. Yeah. Yeah, that's like how every every hip
radio the other.
Speaker 6 (55:20):
One, Yes, single ladies, that's what that's what he was like.
Speaker 7 (55:28):
That's from the faith a Fai.
Speaker 3 (55:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (55:30):
Yeah, always be ragged up.
Speaker 11 (55:34):
Big I said to see from the spot didn't it
didn't get it, It didn't make it go to it.
Speaker 1 (55:41):
Well, I say it's called drop feature. It got it,
but it's like says, it's trying to go get the app.
I have the app.
Speaker 5 (55:47):
I have the Spotify app.
Speaker 11 (55:48):
It's under Timberling and Magoo. So you can just type
it into this because we gotta put that. That's the one.
Speaker 7 (55:59):
Timbling drop.
Speaker 1 (56:03):
Damn. I'm all right, this ship is really slow? Which
song drop? Oh?
Speaker 5 (56:10):
Yeah, here we are.
Speaker 10 (56:24):
In school, Yeah, school to meet you?
Speaker 3 (56:31):
Less?
Speaker 9 (56:32):
What say?
Speaker 1 (56:33):
Got to man? Classic? Got what say?
Speaker 4 (56:37):
Dog?
Speaker 8 (56:37):
Got dot dot dot dot? Lord, I guess who's coming?
Speaker 9 (56:42):

Speaker 6 (56:42):

Speaker 1 (56:47):
Get back and then getting the crunk back then, but.
Speaker 6 (56:52):
He's gonna get a crunk like me was up in
the club.
Speaker 1 (56:55):
Don't be bad, all right, y'all'll be back. It's not
back because slaps.
Speaker 6 (57:00):
Yeah, let's slam it up in a minute.
Speaker 1 (57:01):
No no no no no no no no no no back again. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (57:16):
Well, I'm definitely saying a few.
Speaker 1 (57:20):
Yeah, Well, which one would you like to start with?
You want me to just pick one.
Speaker 13 (57:24):
Yeah, just pick one, pick one, because there's a lot
of a lot of stuff with kick drum.
Speaker 1 (57:29):
It's like a kick. One of the tracks started like early, Yeah,
it's only hooked up my nine O nine over here.
I think that was I think I could be wrong.
Uh okay, So you were talking about this doughcy thing.
Oh yeah, pick one of them. Okay, yeah, there's one
(57:49):

Speaker 6 (57:51):

and I'm too stone. What the fuck is you own?
Get the fuck out my home?
Speaker 14 (59:59):
Ye throughout the songna, hmm, all right, maybe we listen
(01:00:24):
to the wrong single on that one, but uh, I
mean the beat was cool, I didn't really didn't really
do much for me on that.
Speaker 6 (01:00:35):
It's a nice beat, Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:00:37):
You don't you don't like it? I wanted to give
you a proper one. Did you like to elaborate anymore
on I.
Speaker 6 (01:00:47):
Mean, it's just it just it just didn't really go
anywhere I felt, you know. The beat was like, was cool,
it was kind of like it just didn't Yeah, it
just didn't do I don't know, just didn't do it.
Speaker 1 (01:01:01):
Yeah, yeah, I thought, OK, you can go you want.
Speaker 11 (01:01:05):
Oh yeah, I feel like, yeah, we definitely this is not.
This is I've heard several songs off this album recently,
and uh, this is definitely like one of the more
just straight down the middle, just like kind of just banger.
But yeah, this is definitely not. It's not my favorite
on this album. But this album definitely slaps, and I
think this ship is still kind of hard, you know,
(01:01:25):
so I'm gonna let it slap a cool.
Speaker 7 (01:01:29):
Well that's not what I said.
Speaker 1 (01:01:31):
Oh shit, I'm sorry. I'd like fat fingers over here.
I'm not gonna let it slap.
Speaker 5 (01:01:41):
Like.
Speaker 1 (01:01:41):
The main thing is that it did sound like h
like nineties or like early two thousands type said the track. Yeah, but.
Speaker 11 (01:01:53):
I'm surprised we didn't pick the single, which is crazy, right,
I didn't. This is what you added to the playlist,
so I thought this was the single.
Speaker 6 (01:02:01):
I thought I thought it was the single as well,
because it was added to the new music so I
thought it was a single. Oh no, oh that's what
I thought.
Speaker 1 (01:02:09):
Yeah, okay, well, I mean it's new it's from her album. Yeah,
but I thought the words are kind of kind of comical,
you know, like they're goofy sounding. Yeah, it's like corny
two is uh. And I think it's just this is
just it's not like my it's not you know, for
(01:02:30):
me or anything like that. But it's kind of like
when I first start hearing like Drake stuff and I
was like, is this a joke? Like seriously, this is
is this like tongue in cheek like goofing around. It's
like no, It's like this is just how this music sounds.
It's like so fundamentally I don't really get it, or
I don't really think it's neat at all. But but yeah,
but we have listened to stuff she's done before that
(01:02:51):
was not like was it wasn't horrible, So who knows,
but I'm I'm not in that. I give it a buzzer,
but sorry. Uh and cut fetish, Oh, cunt fetish, I
put cunt fish. Well maybe that's the name of the episode.
Speaker 6 (01:03:09):
Maybe not. All right, all right, let's do I put one?
Speaker 1 (01:03:15):
What is this one?
Speaker 6 (01:03:16):
That's a bigger another artist Juicy J Juicy J Jazz album.
Speaker 1 (01:03:23):
It's you two to you? I'm sorry, uh featuring? What's this?
Speaker 6 (01:03:28):
Guy's name is Robert Glasper? And somebody, Oh, let's open
this window up here? Yeah, Robert Glasper and Emmy Seacrest.
Speaker 9 (01:03:42):
Emmy Seacrest, Okay, alright, is uh to you?
Speaker 5 (01:03:47):
All right?
Speaker 1 (01:03:49):
Probably help if I turn the volume on'd be great.
Speaker 3 (01:03:55):
Or sad and moves for hip hop fans.
Speaker 10 (01:03:56):
I'm sorry to report this, but Copstika from three six
Mafia unfortunately.
Speaker 3 (01:04:01):
Passed away right now.
Speaker 6 (01:04:02):
The Memphis hip hop community warning the loss of one
of its own. Lord of infamous, the Memphis native and
family member of three six Mafia, Die Be Love.
Speaker 1 (01:04:11):
Memphis rapper Gangstervoo, formerly a three six Mafia, has passed away.
Speaker 8 (01:04:16):
Nious Shuck Mafia.
Speaker 10 (01:04:19):
Different stories, but they all the same, the same. Life
is crazy love the strength she.
Speaker 3 (01:04:24):
Addict did adic did a dick did to you?
Speaker 10 (01:04:27):
All the pain that she feels she inflicted on you,
buried or hurt, and cover the scars.
Speaker 8 (01:04:33):
It's closing your eyes and locking your jaws.
Speaker 3 (01:04:35):
He addicted a dick did addicted to you?
Speaker 8 (01:04:38):
Did you make him feel better?
Speaker 3 (01:04:39):
He addicted it to you?
Speaker 5 (01:04:41):
You.
Speaker 8 (01:04:41):
I try to tell my nigga, we should tighten up
even when I was still drinking.
Speaker 10 (01:04:46):
Then lighten up when they want to get while they
would hire us behind.
Speaker 8 (01:04:50):
How you gotta get it to you high enough on
my house? You created the trip or flow. I know
it sounds like I'm crying.
Speaker 10 (01:04:56):
I just miss you though heart gave bounce, heart attack
in sleep. I hope you finally get some rest, finally
get some pitch. Different stories, but they all the same same.
Life is crazy love the strange?
Speaker 3 (01:05:08):
She a dick did a dick? Did a dick that
to you?
Speaker 10 (01:05:11):
All the pain then she feels she inflicted on you,
buried or hurt, and cover the scars, scarf.
Speaker 8 (01:05:17):
It's closing your eyes and locking your jaws.
Speaker 3 (01:05:19):
Here dick, then a dick and a dick that to you?
And you make him feel better? Here a dick than
to you?
Speaker 5 (01:05:24):
To you?
Speaker 8 (01:05:25):
I can't understand. Sometimes so much pain it is hard
to cry.
Speaker 12 (01:05:30):
Maybe it's gonna take some time because you are big
part of my life. I can't understand sometimes so much stain,
it's hard to cry. Maybe it's gonna take some time
because you are the.
Speaker 8 (01:05:46):
Next time I see it. It was hot, it was
getting bad. You might have even cracked the joke, but
I couldn't laugh.
Speaker 10 (01:05:52):
Don't want to speak on it because we all grown
feeling you was finna get called home. Hate to see
one of the best ball but the worst. Remember when
I got that call.
Speaker 3 (01:06:02):
It was on the first.
Speaker 8 (01:06:03):
She was the first doing her head of a class.
Speaker 10 (01:06:06):
Thank God for the coup of time that we had
different stories, but they all the same.
Speaker 8 (01:06:11):
Life is crazy.
Speaker 10 (01:06:12):
Love the strength sh a dig me to you all
the pain that she feels she inflicted on you, buried
or hurt, and cover the scars.
Speaker 8 (01:06:22):
All right, it's closing your eye, go walking.
Speaker 3 (01:06:26):
All right.
Speaker 11 (01:06:26):
Well, I mean it was definitely like a like a
a funeral song. Yeah, it was about all the people
that passed in his life, you know. So, I mean
it's not turn up slapper. It's not a turn up slapper,
turn up any way, you know from the guy that
just says turn up over and over again most of
the time.
Speaker 7 (01:06:43):
But I'm gonna let this slap because I like, I
like being able to hear.
Speaker 11 (01:06:49):
Him rap in a different just in a different way altogether,
and rapping about something specific, you know, in a very
different way, you know, telling stories.
Speaker 1 (01:07:00):
But that was nice.
Speaker 7 (01:07:00):
You know that just has to put on in the
in the back. That's a chill, that's a like a
chilling on the couch.
Speaker 6 (01:07:06):
Yeah, I dug it too. I like hearing him do
something different. I thought the beat was really cool. Uh,
it's nice to just hear him do something just like, yeah, introspective,
and it's just it's just interesting to hear him do
this at this point in his career because he could
just just have turned up music forever if he wanted to.
(01:07:29):
You can eat for everybody forever. In fact, just like
production in the Whole nine. But uh, and getting a
Robert Glassberg. You know, you could hear the real bass.
It was just nice. So I dug it, this was
really cool. It slaps for me.
Speaker 5 (01:07:47):
Like that.
Speaker 1 (01:07:48):
I really didn't like it. Uh, it was it was
I want to say, it's kind of corny, like kind
of like flashback to some sort of very like you know,
I can't really put my finger on it, but almost
has like the the vibe of a brush of teeth
(01:08:09):
go bitter, early kids type of thing, but like with
a more serious subject matter. But that was like a
weird way to say it. But it's like kind of
that type of vibe. And it's I mean, it sounded
good and all that, and everybody involved is like not bad,
like they're you know, everybody's awesome for their own ship
in it. But it's just like I was. I wasn't
into this combination of them together to do this, but
(01:08:32):
you know, thoughts and prayers.
Speaker 5 (01:08:35):
All right, man?
Speaker 6 (01:08:36):
All right, two out of three ain't bad?
Speaker 5 (01:08:39):
Uh?
Speaker 6 (01:08:40):
All right, let's uh, let's do one more. Let's yeah,
I thought we only did two.
Speaker 1 (01:08:46):
Yeah, I know I'm gonna have tota okay, okay, but okay,
so out of those, let's see what we got. We
also had something that we added last week a week before,
but didn't do.
Speaker 6 (01:08:56):
Oh yeah, let's do those.
Speaker 1 (01:08:58):
So did we do the Tommy rich Rickman thing? We
did that?
Speaker 5 (01:09:01):
Right or not? No? No?
Speaker 11 (01:09:03):
Click it, Okay, we'll do that. Northern Virginia's own Yeah,
what is this called let me tell you right to
bring the.
Speaker 6 (01:09:12):
Is it Rickman? Oh yeah, Rickman?
Speaker 7 (01:09:14):
Yeah, it is a different person.
Speaker 1 (01:09:16):
I thought it was.
Speaker 6 (01:09:17):
Is it Rickman? Richmond?
Speaker 1 (01:09:18):
I thought it was Richmond or Richman? You know, I
don't really know.
Speaker 13 (01:09:23):
I think it's Richmond, which we're just like confusing because
it sounds like you're saying Richmond.
Speaker 1 (01:09:29):
For some reason, this thing like disappeared that the art.
So we're just gonna listen to this song. It's called
I thought you were the one. Oh yeah, I know,
same sounds.
Speaker 15 (01:09:49):
Oh Man, Yeah, your hand down right back, right back
(01:10:13):
to it, right back to the bad.
Speaker 3 (01:10:19):
That's my bad. You would next time.
Speaker 8 (01:10:49):
Maybe it's a chance and praying day I get what
I want.
Speaker 16 (01:10:54):
To dream last night in my head, always thinking we
even went out to watch.
Speaker 1 (01:11:01):
You or tat your not doing you wrong.
Speaker 16 (01:11:05):
I know you don't forget the next past so long
looking at my fast, my eyes are mass talking.
Speaker 8 (01:11:13):
About the good ship, baby, good ship, I've never found me.
Speaker 1 (01:11:17):
That's not okay, So consist good then. I don't know
what to say, fuck it anywhere.
Speaker 16 (01:11:26):
I know one has to codcass baby good kiss. I
know you lost me, shut me out, I know you
lost me.
Speaker 3 (01:11:42):
Shut me.
Speaker 1 (01:12:00):
Not too much longer as all right, okay, well I
all do this ship. I need to be more active
and fine as a slash because I'm like, yeah, like
just pop music in general you think would be.
Speaker 7 (01:12:16):
This was I wouldn't. I mean, I guess you can
call this pop music.
Speaker 6 (01:12:18):
This is brand new, Yes, it's pop brand new.
Speaker 1 (01:12:22):
This is pop music right kind of is yeah, I
mean it is a brand new artist like hipster pop. Yeah,
it wouldn't call arts but whatever it's it's so not
for me and it's just like yeah, yeah, just no
thanks man. Once again, it's sounds corny as.
Speaker 11 (01:12:43):
Hell, like the all this When you say corny, like
corny mean by that you've used it in lots of situations.
Speaker 1 (01:12:51):
Yeah, yeah, yeah kind of like it makes it go
kind of like this sounds more almost like when something
has a tinge of like what it would be if
it was kids music. Almost corny is in uh like yeah,
like more like that, like it's aimed to almost like
it's from the perspective or like the intellect of like
an eighth grader or something like that, you know what
(01:13:13):
I mean. It's like it's like it's like it was
made to appeal to someone like that or like maybe
it resembles another thing that I think is what describes
that as something that resembles like Christian music or something
that would be corny or that corny flavor there. But
that's what I mean. That's kind of what I mean,
like kind of like gives you douche chills and stuff
and you don't want to make eye contact with anybody. Okay,
(01:13:35):
I understood, But I mean the production went bad and
I did kind of like the throwback the eighties drum
machine thing with like the gated type snare sound.
Speaker 11 (01:13:48):
All that, but yeah, I just wasn't into it. Yeah,
I feel a lot like like I love the production
and how he's been using it. Sounds like he's using
the exact same production on every song, which is cool.
You know, I'm gonna use the same keyboard and the
same drum machine and like make other hits.
Speaker 7 (01:14:05):
This particular song this is, this is not. I can't
listen to this over and over again, you know what
I mean.
Speaker 11 (01:14:13):
I do like that it's not all auto tuned, which
gives it an interesting sound, right, you know, because it's
some you can hear the tyler that create a kind
of influence in there, but I also understand what you're
saying in which it kind of reminds me of like
like Lonely Island, you know, like it's trying to be
funny but they're not.
Speaker 1 (01:14:34):
But they're not. Yeah, yeah exactly.
Speaker 7 (01:14:37):
I don't know. I don't know what that means.
Speaker 1 (01:14:39):
It carries out on now.
Speaker 8 (01:14:44):
Yeah, Uh.
Speaker 6 (01:14:47):
Yeah, it's interesting because it it does. There's a lot
of things going on with that. With the vocal I
feel like it's just like it's just him, like to
the max, Like it's just him, Like it's like this
is fool on Tommy Richmond whatever, Like the all the
all the vocal licks and the and everything is tripled
(01:15:08):
and all.
Speaker 7 (01:15:09):
They all sound almost the same even though they're different songs.
Speaker 6 (01:15:13):
Yeah, and it's just, uh, this is cool.
Speaker 7 (01:15:17):
Like I like the keyboard riff, Like this is a
nice little lick you found with the production.
Speaker 6 (01:15:24):
Yeah, I think like you kind of need something different
in the middle there, because it just kind of just
feels like it's like it's like his voice on acid
or something. It's just like his voice everywhere, you know
what I mean, And it's like it's not really paying off,
you know, So it's like, I like, I kind of
like the song, but I'm not feeling like the vocal arrangement.
(01:15:46):
Maybe that's the way I put it, maybe the same
I don't like the vocal arrangement of it. So, you know,
that's a tough one for me because I this could
be There's been a couple of songs where I've ended
up liking them and not, you know, not initially. This
is this might be one of them.
Speaker 11 (01:16:06):
It's just a lot of that same note the chorus,
you know, it's a lot of yeah yeah, yeah yeah,
sitting up there.
Speaker 1 (01:16:11):
In a way, this hits my ear. This song doesn't
have much movement. It's like right in that little podcast
kind of it's kind of stagnant.
Speaker 11 (01:16:18):
It's also kind of made in a way that seems
like it's built for people knowing people are only going to.
Speaker 7 (01:16:23):
Use six six seconds of it. That's that TikTok, you
know what I mean? Six of the song?
Speaker 1 (01:16:28):
You know.
Speaker 6 (01:16:29):
Yeah, so yeah, I'm not gonna I definitely, you know,
because I ended up liking Million Dollar Baby after a while.
Speaker 11 (01:16:37):
It's like, honestly, because I never heard the song, I'd
only heard the first three that one three seconds of
the song. Yeah, a million times, and I finally heard
the songs, like, oh, the song's all right.
Speaker 6 (01:16:47):
Yeah, it's all right, but yeah, this one not so much.
Definitely would I wish there was maybe a little bit different.
I like using the same drum machine kind of thing.
That's cool, but I also would like to hear something
different as far as that. But yeah, you know cool,
he's gonna be he's gonna be doing it for a while.
Speaker 1 (01:17:04):
He's killing it.
Speaker 6 (01:17:05):
So what it is, Ladies and gentlemen, thank y'all so much.
Three fitting
Speaker 1 (01:18:04):
And sadly, the podcast is no more
