Elizabeth (00:06):
Hey, hey, hey, welcome back to another episode
of the in between.
I'm your host Elizabeth Cheney, and we are here in June,
everyone.
June! How did we get here?
Goodness gracious me, how arey'all doing?
It's the sixth month in, and Ihave to be honest with you.
And honest with myself, I guess,at this point, there are not as
many things I thought would bechecked off my to do list at

(00:27):
this point in the year.
So that is one, motivating, butalso like, get your shit
together, Liz.
Which, sure, motivating, yeah.
But it's June, it's also PrideMonth, whoo, it's super exciting
there.
now it's time to bust out myfavorite movie of all time, To
Wong Fu.
I'm just kidding.
I don't need Pride Month towatch that.
I probably watch that movieevery other month, if I'm being

(00:48):
honest with you.
To Wong Fu, if you haven't seenit, I highly recommend.
It's got John Linguasino,Patrick Swayze, and Leslie
Snipes, and they're dressed indrag.
I was kind of raised on thatmovie.
I think it's why I love Sparklesand loud colors and feathers and
all that kind of stuff, butfavorite movie so so good highly

(01:09):
recommend you should watch itBut let's see what else I feel
like it's been a really jampacked past few weeks with you
all I have had two guests we hadTaylor from Down Under.
I thought my accent was prettygood Not gonna lie, not this
one, but the one on the episode, but I loved that episode First
off, she is such a incrediblesoul, love that our paths
crossed, and I hope you allenjoyed that episode too.

(01:32):
And then last week was Chad andRyan with their brewery opening.
Which I thought was sofascinating.
I know it was like a little bitof different type of episode,
but one, you know, I love a goodstory that especially somebody
pursuing their passion, but Ijust want to say, so they had
their opening last week and theydid so well, they actually did
better than they thought theywere going to.

(01:52):
So now they're like, you know, rushing to get the rest of
their, like the new product out.
So snaps for them.
Glad that was a success.
Uh, but yeah, the last time Italked to you all was like.
I think my birthday.
It was, yeah, I recorded it onmy birthday.
Since my birthday, I had a greattime my birthday, I got to meet
up with a bunch of mygirlfriends.
And like one thing about me, mylove language, well I have lots

(02:15):
of love languages if I'm goingto be honest with you, but one
thing that I'm like verypassionate about is when my
people meet my other people, andthen they can meet the other
people, then those people canmeet those people.
I have lots of different typesof friends, like different
people.
That sounded very weird.
I mean like different groups offriends, different like social,
I want to say circles because Ihave lots of individual
friendships too.

(02:35):
And I don't know.
I just, I love my people.
And um, It was just really funto have everyone there and see
everyone mixing and mingling andseeing new friendships be born.
Wow, okay, anyways on that note, but had a great time.
Great time as in maybe too goodof a time.
You know what I mean?
I fell standing up.

(02:55):
I'm not quite sure how thathappened.
Was there alcohol involved?
Just a little bit, but not likeenough.
Like not by any means like drunkor anything, but I mean, I'd had
a few drinks, but yeah, we werejust standing there and I blamed
the fact that it was a, on a, ona hill on a slant and I was in
platform sneakers.
They were cute.
Don't worry.
And I don't know.
All of a sudden I just kind offell in slow motion and I fell

(03:18):
like in a princess like pose.
It was very weird.
I literally fell in slow motion.
I felt it.
Time stood still.
And then my friend Catherine, who was looking at me, I looked
at her while laying there likein a princess out like Princess
like pose and I'm like, I lookat her and I'm like, Heather,
how did that happen?
Did that happen?

(03:39):
Like how did, how, how did Iland here?
And she looked at me and she'slike, I don't know, but I feel
like you fell in slow motion.
I'm like, Oh, I felt like I fellin slow motion.
So I, I don't know.
I don't know.
It was very bizarre, but I got abattle wound from it.
Jesus y'all.
Like I busted my knee on this.
And.
To have fallen so slowly and tohave fallen the way I fell, I

(04:01):
don't even know how I scrapedit, but it was deep and it
really hurt, so I couldn't likework out for a week, but all
good, all good.
But then me and Stan went toBlue Ridge for like a little
weekend getaway.
It was so nice.
Ugh, I loved it.
We had a great view of themountains and it was also so
cool.
It was like, Low 60s.
Oh, it was nice.

(04:22):
And then at night, it was like40s, mid 40s, which I love this
kind of weather.
So I enjoyed it.
And what I do, I didn't doreally much of anything.
We watched comedy specials.
We cooked really good food.
We got in the jacuzzi, and wejust relaxed, which is exactly
what I wanted.
It was so nice.
We also made a campfire, which,I think I'm, like, really into

(04:44):
campfires.
I don't mean it from, like, apyro standpoint.
Like, don't, like, worry.
I'm not, like, burning shit, butI just love a good campfire.
Maybe it's because I didn't haveany growing up.
You know?
I don't know.
But I love it.
I love a good campfire.
Stan's like, okay, I'm over it.
I'm like, look, you forget youwere an Eagle Scout.
So you may have had your shareof campfires, I have not, I will

(05:06):
keep it alive.
And you know what?
It rained for like half a secondand I kept it alive.
Oh, I think I need to get outmore.
Here I am bragging about how Ikept a fire alive on my podcast.
Okay, so anywho, what else?
Oh, gosh, how could I forgetthis?

(05:26):
So I'm not sure if you've seenthe news, but Atlanta, the city
of Atlanta that is, had a actualmeltdown this past weekend.
We had, ah, probably like five, six water main breaks, and it
was just like boom, ba da badoom, ba da boom, like it was
like dumb and no effect.
It was wild.

(05:48):
It was very wild.
It was also wild seeing all thepeople like taking advantage of
what was happening, like theywere like in like I don't know,
pool tubes or water floats, whatever you want to call them.
And like, no shit.
They were like going down theroad in the water stream from
the water main break as if itwas like a water slide.
So props to them for beinginnovative.
I wish I had access to that.

(06:09):
Unfortunately, I wasn't near thewater main break.
I was just heavily affected.
Still am at the time of thisrecording.
So hopefully.
Hopefully by the time this comesout on Wednesday that this will
no longer be an issue for yourgirl.
But I was, uh, when it happened, like at least the first one I
was planning to go to my mom'shouse that night.
Anyway, this was Friday, juststands out of town with having a

(06:32):
guy's weekend at the lake.
And uh, when I got there, that'swhen like subsequent more mains
broke.
And so I was able to go to herlocal grocery store and get
water before I came back.
So that was kind of clutch, but.
It's fixed now, it's just like,I guess they're testing it and
all this kind of stuff, buteither way, these are my woes,

(06:53):
it's all good, it's all fine.
To be honest, I feel like thecity really jumped into action
to get their shit together.
Maybe not quite at first, but itwas also kind of insane how it
all happened.
I don't know why I'm getting allpreachy about this on the
podcast.
Jesus.
But all good.
I've also made some new friends.
You know, I feel like I'mgetting really good at making

(07:14):
Instagram friends.
Is that weird?
You know what?
I don't think so.
I love it.
It's how you meet peoplenowadays.
Uh, maybe it's just me too.
Maybe it's just how I meetpeople because I just, I like
feel like I'm always leaving myapartment but at the same time
I'm never leaving my apartment.
So, gotta figure that out.
Oh my gosh, I feel like there'slike also so many things, like
since we last talked.
So I totally forgot.

(07:34):
We went on a family reunion, well on is probably the wrong
word, well I guess, I guess on,but we went to a family reunion
for Stan's side of the family.
It was like his grandmother onhis dad's side.
It was in the middle of nowhere.
It was like three hours awayactually, but it was uh, it was
kind of cool.
There was a lot of peoplebecause it was like based off of

(07:56):
these four brothers.
So it was a lot of family and wegot to meet third cousins,
fourth cousins.
It was really fun.
And we went to this really coolstate park.
It was called Magnolia SpringsState Park.
Yes Springs.
And now we're kind of like southGeorgia I think we're like
southeast, like going towardsthe coast, but not quite towards
the coast, you know.

(08:17):
But there was Spanish moss.
But anyways, we are at the statepark and it's like beautiful
because like spring water issuper, super clear, right?
So it's this beautiful, clear, you can see like to the bottom
all the fishes and the turtlesand all that fun stuff.
Then I see all these likealligator signs.
And, you know, I'm thinking tomyself, Oh, is there an
alligator?
Like what's going on?

(08:37):
I'm walking up closer to thelittle, the, I don't know, river
bank?
What, I don't know what you wantto call it.
Stream?
I guess river makes sense.
And, it's on the other side.
Don't worry, there was likeplenty of distance between us.
But, there is this giantalligator.
And by giant, that's by Liz'sstandards.
But it was like at least sixfeet.
At least six feet with tail.

(08:58):
It was a decent size.
And you know, here lately, Idon't know if I've said this
before, but my facebookalgorithm could be as I hardly
ever get on facebook but sidenote, my algorithm is very
peculiar.
It is nothing like any of myother social media.
So I get, like, very extremesport videos, which terrify me,
extreme heights, amusement parkrides, terrifying shit in the

(09:22):
ocean, like shark attacks.
Well, not attacks, but just, like, shark encounters.
Big whales, I don't know, thingslike that.
And then I also get like, wildlife.
And since this, I have learnedhow mother even fast a frickin
alligator can run on land.
It is shocking.
It is shocking how fast they canrun.
So I'm looking at this alligatorthinking, oh shit, I need to

(09:44):
back it up.
So I'm taking some steps back, but I can tell he's not, like,
coming to me.
He's going to, like, the bridgewhere people are, like,
throwing, I don't know, fruit orsomething to the turtles.
So he's swimming over there, andI, I run to the bridge to get a
better view of him, and like, Ohmy God, like, this thing is
huge! And yes, I recognize I'mgoing off about an alligator,
but, You know, I don't know ifI've ever really seen one in the

(10:08):
wild.
He had three legs.
Not sure if he lost one in abattle or lost one at birth
because otherwise he lookedperfectly fine.
Like there was not really anykind of scars or anything.
Looked really healthy, so that'swhy my money's on as a baby.
But decent sized croc, beautifulwater, so you could see like
this great view of it.
Either way, I was a littleshocked, and then I was like

(10:28):
time to go.
Time to skedad.
So, yes.
Now when I see all those videosof people who walk past
alligators, I'm like y'allcrazy.
Y'all crazy.
I was so intimidated with thatthing being across the way.
Mm mm mm.
I was like, no man, not today.
Let's go.
Oh, went to the RenaissanceFestival this past weekend.
Lots of fun.
If you haven't heard of it, Ihighly recommend you Google it

(10:50):
and see if your state has itbecause it is so fun.
It's a little nerdy.
Sure.
But you know what?
While I was there with two of mygirlfriends, I was thinking to
myself, everyone's having agreat time.
Everyone is happy.
Everyone is embracing everyone.
I mean, yes, half the people aredressed up, but who cares?
Everyone's embracing it becauseeveryone's just embracing their
inner nerd.
And I don't know what magic isin the Renaissance festival, but

(11:12):
I feel like if we can figure itout, That might be a good, a
good way to bring peace tosociety.
That's all I'm saying.
Maybe we all need to have, like,a cosplay night.
Maybe we all need to, like, Idon't know, watch Lord of the
Rings.
That's a little depressing, somaybe not.
But, I don't know, find some inbetween of Lord of the Rings,
but, like, make it, like, familyappropriate.

(11:33):
And then, I'll just love eachother.
I don't know, just saying, justsaying.
I bought a shit ton of incense, not gonna lie.
I don't know why, I just am sucha sucker for that kind of stuff.
Do I burn incense all the time?
Absolutely not.
Would you think so?
Absolutely yes.
So, a little peculiar, butthat's okay.
They smell really good, so.
That's where she's been beboppinbeboppin I've been beboppin all

(11:56):
over the place.
But don't worry, I'm notstressed.
Not really.
Although, I can tell I'mstarting to unravel just a
little bit.
Because like, I have like, youcan't see it, but I have like
piles behind me.
Piles of, like, priorities.
And I really only get like thiswhen I start to just I'm not

(12:17):
overwhelmed, but I am reallytrying hard not to feel stressed
and overwhelmed and like alsoget shit done.
So I don't know.
It's like, it's like outwardcompartmentalizing.
That makes any sense.
Who who's with me?
Anybody like that?
But at least my to do listshaven't turned too crazy, but I
also haven't made a new one in awhile.

(12:38):
So.
I'm kind of at the, uh, at themercy of post it notes at the
moment, so maybe I'm just lyingto myself.
I'm not sure.
Oh, anyways.
Anyways.
Uh, oh, okay.
So, let's just get to the chase.
Bridgerton.
Have we watched Bridgerton?
I know it's only part one.
I'm foaming at the mouth of parttwo.
It feels different, and fromwhat I've read online, it's

(13:00):
because the showrunner isdifferent.
I didn't hate it.
I think Penelope, our girl, shelooks beautiful.
Freaking loved that deep greendress she wore.
It was like the French style.
Oh, that's her color.
I also love that color myself.
But yeah, she was lookingflawless.
I still loved it.
I think my favorite season sofar is season two I know some

(13:21):
people didn't like it, but Ilove a good enemies of lovers
storyline, and I really likedAntony and Kate.
Oh, their chemistry just reallyseals the deal, but I really
enjoyed this season.
I feel like we're going to allbe, how about me say this, all
of us who feel a little, hmm?

(13:43):
It's a little different.
I feel like we're not going tofeel that way so much after part
2 is over.
Because like, I don't know, part2 looks like that's where all
the drama is.
So, I'm holding out.
I'm also very anxious becauselike, obviously, Colin's going
to have to find out.
She's whistled down and I'm verystressed.
I'm very stressed wonderingwhat's going to happen down with
that.

(14:03):
I also want her and Eloise to befriends again because that
stresses me out.
So we'll see.
We'll see what's gonna happen.
Is Crested gonna get with theother guy?
Lord, whatever, the, theagricultural, like, plant guy.
Who's like, I'm, don't know if Ilove you, but I love plants and
animals.
So I may be gone for some years, but, you know, I could grow to
be very fond of you., If youhaven't watched this season yet,
then you have no idea what thehell I'm talking about, but I

(14:26):
really, uh, I love Bridgerton,so I mentioned, earlier that
Stan was out of town thisweekend for a guy's weekend so I
had some alone time for myselfand I started watching and
pretty much almost finished, Ihave like 30 minutes left, of
Queen Charlotte, which is thestory of how the Queen of
Bridgerton meets her husband,the King.

(14:48):
Oh my gosh, if you haven'twatched that show and you like
Bridgerton, I mean, shit, evenif you don't like Bridgerton, if
you just want some good TV, thatshow is amazing.
Oh, it had, Oh, I cried.
I screamed.
Well, I didn't really scream asdramatic, but I actually did
definitely cry.
I giggled.
It was so good.

(15:09):
It had so much depth.
It was like, Oh, it wasbeautiful.
I loved it more than Bridgerton.
It had like some kind of magic,I guess.
It was different, like it hadmore, definitely had more depth
than Bridgerton.
It, it kinda, It does such agood job at highlighting the
king's illness and, you know, ofcourse it doesn't go into what
it is because I don't think theyhad any terminology for that

(15:32):
back then.
It was just madness.
But, I've read online that itresembles like schizophrenia,
something like that.
And I feel like the actor didsuch a good job with it.
Oh, oh my god, that was so good.
I want to watch it again.
Mmm.
I want more of it.
Oh, have you seen it?
If you've seen it, please DM meso we can talk about it because

(15:54):
I'm not sure why you haven'twatched it.
Cause it came out like lastyear, but maybe just because
like, it's hard for me to watchTV and pay attention nowadays,
but God, it was so good.
So good.
I also got my girlfriend comingin town this weekend from
Baltimore.
Not sure if you remember, ifyou're new here, this is like an
episode from like, I don't know,like a year ago?
Over a year ago, last March.
Uh, her name is Cherise Rowe.

(16:16):
She's coming in town, can'twait, so I'm sure we're gonna
record an episode.
Cause like, why not?
We're here in person.
Duh, so much fun.
I don't have like a fullitinerary planned, but I've got
a few ideas.
So, fun fact, I'm not the bestat planning things.
Like, I could plan maybe anevent, but like planning a trip,
I'm not great at that.

(16:37):
Does that make sense?
I think I've mentioned thisbefore, I'm sure I've mentioned
this before, planning shit givesme so much anxiety when it comes
to like trips and things likethis.
This, not as much because I'mnot going anywhere, but of
course I want to give her a goodtime, show her a good time,
right?
Anyways, welcome to the innerthoughts of Liz Cheney.
Hello, welcome to the podcast.
I feel like I should be writingmore blogs, as in like I've only

(16:58):
written two, but you know what, all in due time, all in due
time.
We must pace ourselves.
Compartmentalize when you needto, right, right.
Woo, man, I'm still trying tobuild that routine.
I need to start doing moremobility work, especially on my
upper body and shoulders becauseof all my, like, shit up here.
And, you know, it just is sosurprising sometimes how we know

(17:20):
we need to do all these thingsfor ourselves, but yet, We still
don't.
Really trying to adapt that doermentality that Logan from a few
weeks ago was talking about.
No shit, I really have startedtrying to mentally think like
that.
Simply said do it just do it.
Why not such a foreign conceptfor someone with ADHD like do it

(17:40):
You don't mean to like stew andthink about it for like an hour
or like I don't know a week orlike a month We're working on it
But anyways in that wild assramble god, it was like minutes
of just chaos.
Thanks for staying with me Iwanted to end this week's
episode on just saying hey, itis pride month, right?
Yes, so I just want to say shoutout to my lgbtqia plus

(18:04):

So everyone knows you all have aplace here on the in between I
hope you always feel that wayand for those who maybe don't

You never know.

(18:26):
somebody looking for support, ifyou were looking for community,
I, I highly recommend.
I'm going to link it in the shownotes and yeah, I can't wait to
see all the celebrationpictures.
I hope everyone has a fantasticmonth and remember being an
ally, simply put, is using yourvoice to advocate for those less
heard.
Or using your privilege tobenefit all.

(18:46):
It's just love.
Love is love.
And if you have a problem withit, why?
That's what I think.
So Happy Pride, go watch Tu WongFu.
