This podcast celebrates not only the resilience of Native peoples but the futures we’re creating—grounded in cultural strength, endurance, innovation, and love. At the Center for the Futures of Native Peoples at Dickinson College, we are dedicated to bringing honest interpretations of boarding school experiences. We honor the wisdom of our ancestors as we look to the future. In this podcast, you’ll hear from Indigenous knowledge keepers and descendants of Carlisle Indian Industrial School students. The school was in operation from 1879-1918 and its main focus was to assimilate Indigenous youth and young adults into mainstream white culture. Thus, Carlisle is a significant place of remembrance for many of Our Indigenous Peoples and Communities.
This isn’t just about the past or the future—it’s about the continuous flow of reclaiming, revitalizing, and reimagining. Our stories don’t start or end; they move through time, connecting generations across centuries. Together, we honor the wisdom of our ancestors while forging new paths for those yet to come.
