One year later, Matt partners with former district attorney Kirsten McDuffie, Karen relocates to San Francisco, and Poindexter receives a life sentence. Matt begins dating therapist Heather Glenn. Meanwhile, with Vanessa’s support, Wilson Fisk runs for mayor of New York City. Matt warns Fisk privately to stay in line, but learns during a date with Heather that Fisk has won the election. Fisk later reveals to Vanessa that he knows about her infidelity.

To improve his public image as the new mayor, Fisk learns from BB Urich that NYPD Commissioner Gallo plans to resign due to poor conditions. Fisk coerces Gallo into staying by threatening his family. Fisk and Vanessa attend couples therapy with Heather to manage press pressures. Matt tracks down Torres and rescues him from corrupt officers.
