In this episode, Mike introduces The Drill Method™ — a somatic, emotional, and spiritual tool for releasing stored trauma, rewiring your nervous system, and stepping out of survival mode. He shares raw stories, real client transformations, and the truth behind why mindset work isn’t enough. For anyone still chasing peace through approval, achievement, or money... this episode is a path to liberation.

Key Takeaways

  1. The Body Holds the Past
Your nervous system is wired by unprocessed emotional experiences — not logic.
  2. Survival Mode Is a Learned Pattern
Even with abundance, your body can still feel unsafe if old trauma remains stored.
  3. The Drill Method Heals Through the Body, Not the Mind
Drop into the body, recognize what’s there, inquire, listen, and let go.
  4. Emotional Freedom Is the Real Currency
You’re not chasing money or approval — you’re chasing a feeling you’ve never fully allowed.
  5. Letting Go Makes You Limitless
When you release trapped energy, you unlock a whole new level of peace, power, and presence.

(00:24):
Welcome to the Inner WealthPodcast, where we learn and
choose to live inspired each andevery day.
You know, it's pretty typicalif you come to one of my
retreats or one of my liveintensives, like August 22nd and

(00:45):
23rd in St Louis, right outsideof St Louis actually, I have a
live intensive coming up calledthe Choose your Destiny Live
Intensive, and in these liveevents with me in the retreat,
when we have retreats, it'susually for our Inner Wealth
Mastermind, and in theseintensives and in these retreats
, it's often that I do someenergy work with people and, uh,

(01:08):
I do some deep, deep shadowwork.
I do some deep emotional workwith them, and what I mean by
that is I invite them into aspace of facing their shadows
and facing the things thatthey've always looked to avoid.
Now, why the hell would I dothat?

(01:29):
Your body is conditioned by thepast and if there was a painful
event in the past if there was, let's say, you know you were
abandoned as a kid okay, you'relike maybe one of the parents,
your parents, abandoned you andthat emotional event had a huge

(01:51):
impact.
Whether you acknowledge it oryou want to face it or not, that
event had a huge impact in yourlife.
If your family went bankrupt,or if your family lost
everything, or if you know, maybe a parent died or just
something, maybe there was, youknow, physical abuse, these
events had a huge, huge impacton the energetic patterns in

(02:19):
your body, and emotion is energyin motion.
So when I'm talking about theenergy in your body, I'm also
talking about the emotions inyour body, and the emotions in
your body really are pointingback to the conditioning of your
nervous system.
When someone is and I'm speakingfrom experience when someone is

(02:41):
a massive people pleaser, there's a reason that they are a
people pleaser.
Their body, their nervoussystem is conditioned to seek
survival through approval.
There was some event, there wassome experience, there was some

(03:02):
history, there was some thingthat happened.
That were some things.
Maybe it was a series of things.
There were things that happenedthat caused their nervous
system to need to be differentand seek approval, and seek
validation, and seek acceptance,to feel and experience being

(03:27):
safe.
So your nervous systemliterally rewired itself around
seeking safety through approval.
When let's say someone my wifeI'm going to talk about my wife.
She was just on this podcastepisode last week and we talked
about what we were going to talkabout this week and she faced

(03:50):
massive, massive poverty.
When she was a kid.
Her parents, her father andstepmother because her mom died
when she was really young, soshe had abandonment issues too,
but they had nothing and her,her parents were like addicts
father and stepmother were wereaddicts and they would lose

(04:12):
everything.
They'd go to a house, theythey'd sleep on people's couches
, they'd go from one vacant hometo another.
They'd like he'd get a job,they'd start to.
They'd start he'd buy.
He'd buy a television and then, before you know it, the
television was headed outbecause he needed some drug
money and it was like that's theenvironment that she, that she
grew up in and her nervoussystem was wired to make money

(04:38):
really, really important in herlife so that she had what she
needed to survive because herparents like, sometimes made it,
made them go to the grocerystore or go to the freaking gas
station and steal food and stealtoilet paper.
So her nervous system went intohyperactivity and into into

(05:01):
chaos to try to make sure shehad the resources she needed to
be okay and even I'll speak fromexperience even when we have
plenty in Oregon, when we livedin Oregon, we had plenty, plenty
.
There was no chance we wereever going to have nothing, but
she still had a big bag ofcomforters in the garage in case

(05:25):
our electric and our heat gotturned off.
That was because her nervoussystem was wired to seek
survival through resources andaccumulation and making sure she
was holding on to everything.
Our nervous system determinesour quality of life and our

(05:46):
nervous system really acts aslane bumpers of what's
acceptable and what's not.
And when our nervous systemtrips into survival mode, it
literally is looking to get yourattention to do something
different and be somethingdifferent, so you can return
back to a place of safety.

(06:06):
And let's say you are a zeroerror and you have nothing right
.
And now you have a net worth ofa million dollars.
Or let's just say you have amillion dollars and your nervous
system is still wired at zero.
A million dollars will feellike you don't have enough.

(06:29):
And a million dollars if youfall below a million, it'll make
you feel like you're about tolose it all, because your
nervous system is literallyrewired for survival and to
avoid poverty.
So, no matter how much moneyyou have, you're not going to be
able to feel something fromthat, because your body is

(06:50):
literally wired to experiencelife and to feel what you feel
now.
Now, why is this all important?
Because, again, at myintensives and at my retreats
and I even have like, if you goto my website,
innerwealthglobalcom, I have ameditation bundle that has
meditations in there to doshadow work and to work through

(07:13):
these emotional exercises and toget into the shadows, to get
into the deepest, darkestaspects of yourself, so that you
can start to rewire and realignyour central nervous system, so
that you can get out ofpremature survival mode when you
have plenty, so that you don'tneed to seek approval and

(07:33):
validation to feel safe, so thatyou don't need to compromise
who you are, so that you can beokay in the world, so that
you're not fighting for survivalevery minute of every day and
even though you have everythingyou need and you're safe, so
that your central nervous systemdoesn't give you signals and

(07:54):
send off flares of survival modeeven when danger is nowhere
necessary or nowhere present inyour life.
And if you've ever knownsomebody with a lot of money
that has a central nervoussystem wired for poverty, they
still probably wake up in coldsweats in the middle of the
night because their centralnervous system is in fight or
flight and they've done nothingto get out of fight or flight

(08:17):
internally.
They've just made money whichnever solves internal conflicts
in your central nervous system.
I hope this is making sense.
So at our Inner WealthMastermind retreats and at the
Choose your Destiny LiveIntensives, I'll often get
people into and my students.
I'll get them into a deep stateof relaxation in their body and

(08:41):
their mind and then I'll invitethem into a deeper level of
what they're most afraid of inthis lifetime.
And it could be financial, itcould be relational, it could be
losing a loved one, it could behaving their business collapse,
it could be being alone.

(09:03):
These are all real fears thatpeople face and in some cases,
these things that I justmentioned, they are people's
deepest fear.
Not everybody, obviously, butthey are people's deepest fear
and they're wired to avoid thosethings, which is complete

(09:23):
survival mode.
Because if you keep trying toavoid it, it means you're just
really inviting it into yourlife and as soon as you're not
emotionally available to it, assoon as you're not scared of it,
it won't be an option in yourlife anymore.
You become emotionallyunavailable to it.
So in my meditations withpeople, I take them into the

(09:48):
thing that they're most afraidof.
With people, I take them intothe thing that they're most
afraid of, the thing thatthey're scared of the most being
alone.
Poverty, business collapse, just being rejected, losing a
loved one, get into that place, dying the fear of dying is
prevalent in people and I getthem into the circumstance of

(10:09):
that thing and I have themmentally see it in their mind
and physically feel it in theirbody and we start the process of
excavating the pain and ofreleasing the pain and of facing
and amplifying the pain.
We stop running from the painand we face it.
And what happens when weamplify the pain and we face it?

(10:31):
We get the opportunity torelease it and when we release
it, our nervous system rewiresitself and realigns to the new
state, without that level ofemotion, the intensity of the
avoidance of a circumstance, andI hope this is making sense.

(10:54):
This is called shadow work.
It's not a new concept.
There's the Sedona methodthere's, which is a book by Hale
Dwoskin.
There's a the dark side of thelight chasers by Debbie Ford
there's.
So there's letting go by by aDr David Hawkins.
These books all talk aboutreleasing emotion and releasing
energy from your body.
The Untethered Soul by MichaelSinger.

(11:15):
These books all talk aboutreleasing emotions from your
body so that you can stop tryingto avoid the circumstance and
your nervous system can justrewire itself so that you feel a
deeper sense of peace andfreedom and fulfillment and
relaxation in the circumstancesthat you have, knowing that

(11:39):
you're safe regardless of yourcircumstances.
Pain until we face thatinternal struggle, until we face
that damage, we're going tohave to live as if it's imminent
and we're going to live a lifeof avoidance, survival instead
of creation.

(12:00):
For anybody watching this video,I'm holding up a copy of my new
book Inner World Outer World, which will be released on August
19th 2025.
And in Inner World Outer World, which will be released on
August 19th 2025.
And in Inner World Outer World, there's two specific chapters
that address this.
One is Samskaras and Letting Go, and there's another chapter

(12:22):
about shadow work and this isn'tlike there was a long time
people called me a mindset coach.
I am not a mindset guru.
I am not a mindset guy.
Mindset is important, don't getme wrong.
Mindset is impactful, don't getme wrong.
Don't lose sight of that.
The way your mind sees thingsshapes your reality.

(12:46):
But this is deeper than mindset.
This is body work, this issomatic work, and the Greek word
for body is soma and that's whyit's called somatic work.
It's getting into your body andgetting your body out of
survival mode by releasing thestored up toxic energy that's in
there.
Releasing it so that your bodycan rewire itself around safety

(13:11):
instead of survival, so that youcan let go of the pain and the
damage and the suffering and theenergy and the emotion that's
been trapped of seekingadmiration cycles, of seeking
more financial security, cyclesof seeking things that you don't

(13:31):
need.
To feel safe, because thefeeling of freedom, the feeling
of safety, the feeling of havingenough, it's in your body, not
your bank account.
It's in your body, not yourrelationships.
The feeling of approval is inyour body, not in your
relationship, not in yourinteractions.
The feeling of self-worth is inyour body, not your

(13:54):
accomplishments.
Your self-esteem is in yourbody, not in your circumstances.
And this is why somebody willset a goal, chase the goal, get
there, then set a new onebecause they thought they were
going to get a feeling, theythought they were going to get
an emotional payoff fromarriving at that goal, when

(14:16):
their body feels the same.
But they're thinking that ifthey just achieve enough,
accomplish enough, accumulateenough, be approved of enough,
be seen enough that they'll feelsomething that they haven't
felt up to this point, be seenenough that they'll feel
something that they haven't feltup to this point.
Now, all of this work that I'vedone and all of this work that I

(14:36):
get to do with people, I'vedone it without a process.
I've never been able to teach aprocess.
I just I lead the meditationand I lead them into their body,
but I've never really been ableto define the process up until
now.
Recently, a couple of weeks ago, as I was sitting trying to
figure out how the fuck do Iteach this stuff?

(14:56):
Not just lead people to work, but how do I teach this stuff,
how do I give people a process?
Because I sit on my back patioand I'm constantly doing shadow
work.
I get into my body, I feelwhat's in there, I understand
what it's like, why it's thereand the effect and the impact
that it's had on my life, and Isit with it a while and I

(15:18):
amplify it, I let the shit goand I'm like I understand this
process, but how do I teach it?
Well, in this episode now we're15 minutes in, but in this
episode I hope that set thestory for why this is important.
But in this episode I'm goingto teach you what I call the
drill method and I justtrademarked this because it's

(15:38):
really impactful in the resultsthat I'm getting from teaching
it to my mastermind and teachingit to my community and teaching
it to my private clients.
My community, my people, myfollowers are getting massive
benefits from this and it'scalled the drill method.
The first step in the drillmethod is to drop out of the

(16:00):
mind into the body.
This isn't mindset work, thisis body work.
Your body is not going to,you're not going to exhume all
this raw, toxic emotion by justusing the mind.
You got to drop d drop from themind into the body.
The d stands for get out ofyour mind into your body.

(16:21):
Your, your awareness can onlybe three places in in any uh
case, at any time, it can eitherbe on your circumstances, in
your, your mind or in your body.
And we're saying get your mindout of your circumstances, get
your mind out of your mind orget your awareness.
I apologize, get your awarenessout of your circumstances, get

(16:44):
your awareness out of your mindand get your awareness into your
body.
Drop from your mind into yourbody.
That's the D, the R is recognizewhat's happening in your body.
What are you scared of?
What are you afraid of?
What are you most fearful of?
What are you most trying toavoid?
What feeling are you mosttrying to avoid?

(17:08):
What feeling are you feeling?
Recognize it, amplify it, feelit, that feeling that you've
always been avoiding.
Feel it the guilt, the shame, the anger, the jealousy, the
envy, the rage, the scarcity, the poverty that you feel, the

(17:29):
worthlessness that you feel, thethings that you'd rather not
feel.
This is ugly, nasty work, butthis is the shit that will set
you free All that stuff thatmost people are trying to avoid.
Feel it, exhume it, get it outof your body, get it out of the
recesses of your body.
It's stored in your body and Ishare constantly that, and right

(17:51):
now on video, I'm holding up inmy left arm, my left hand I'm
pretend that I'm holding up anorange and in my right hand I've
got a knife.
You poke the knife into theorange.
You'll wiggle around the knifeand you pull the knife out of
the orange.
What happens to the orangejuice?
It starts running out of theorange, but the out of the

(18:16):
orange.
What happens to the orangejuice?
It starts running out of theorange, but the knife did not
create the orange juice, theknife just revealed it.
That's the same thing when youget your awareness into your
body and you start exhuming allthis emotion.
That awareness didn't createthe emotion.
The emotion's there.
You're just releasing it.
You're just becoming aware ofit.
You're just allowing it to comeout of you.
You're not creating it throughthis awareness.

(18:38):
You've been running from ityour whole life, but you're not
creating it by getting into it.
You're exhuming it.
The D stands for drop into yourbody.
The R is to recognize what's inthere and amplify what's in
there.
The I stands for inquire.
How did you get here?
What are you trying to tell me?

(18:58):
What impact has all of thisemotion had on my life and
sounds weird, sounds woo-woo,but it's developing a
relationship with that emotion, with that stored up toxic energy
, that toxic emotion that's inyour body.
Recognize it, inquire, relatewith it, understand it.

(19:26):
What is it telling you?
And the first L is listen towhat it's trying to tell you.
It will communicate.
It'll flash a face in your head.
It'll flash an event in yourhead.
It'll flash an experience.
It'll it'll speak to you.
It'll literally tell you whyit's there, how it got there.
Just trust that.

(19:46):
Whatever message it's givingyou is perfect.
And it's telling you.
It's your subconscious mindtelling you exactly why it's
there, what its meaning is andwhat it's protecting you from,
what it's trying to protect youfrom.
The first L is to listen to it,let it speak to you, and the
last L is to let it go.

(20:09):
Pastel is to let it go.
And this is the part that somepeople are trying to hold on to
their past.
Some people are trying to holdon to the pain of the past.
Some people are unwilling toface this emotion and unearth
this emotion.
They'd rather repress it.
They'd rather escape it, they'drather suppress it.

(20:31):
They'd rather eat it away orwork it away or make money so
that they don't have to feel it.
They'd rather build up a wallof armor.
But now that we're feeling it,let's let it go.
And when you let it go and youwill when you let it go, it no
longer resides in your body andit's just like the orange in the
orange juice when the juiceflows out, it's no longer in the

(20:53):
orange and it's just likeemotion.
When you let the emotion go, itno longer resides in your body.
You're, you are lighter, youare less emotionally charged.
You are, you are moreemotionally released.
There's less that's going totrigger you, the intensity of
your triggers will be less andyour central nervous system will

(21:15):
rewire itself and it'll relaxbecause you've released some of
this toxic energy that it usedto protect and it used to defend
and it used to try to build alife, to try to avoid feeling.
You just released it so it nolonger has to live at a survival

(21:36):
mode to try to protect andavoid that emotion from being
surfaced.
And over time, as you do thedrill method, and over time, as
you do shadow work, over time,as you get into your body, you
do this somatic work, you dothis deep work, your body will
become more peaceful, more free, lighter, and you will literally

(22:00):
not need circumstances tochange.
So you'll be okay and then, instead of needing to control
circumstances, you'll live in amore powerful place where you
can influence thosecircumstances in a way that's
creative instead of built onsurvival.
Guys, the drill method ispowerful, impactful.

(22:22):
It's important.
This is the work that hasliberated my soul.
This goes beyond mindset work.
Most of the struggles that youhave, the fear that you have,
most of the anxiety that youhave, the depression that you
have, it's because of thesomatic condition of the
emotions that are buried insideof your body and your nervous

(22:46):
system has rewired itself orwired itself around these things
.
Nervous system has rewireditself or wired itself around
these things.
Now we're letting the shit go.
I have just started introducingand just started teaching about
the drill method.
Last week, on our podcast, wetalked about how my girls, my
young girls, my daughters, areholding on to the pain of the

(23:07):
past.
But the drill method offers usa way to let go of the past, to
let go of the identity and theidentification that we have with
the past, letting the oldversion of us die so that the
new version can be reborn in awhole, complete, complete,

(23:36):
inspired way, instead of someonewho feels broken or trying to
avoid pain, or feels incompleteor inadequate.
All these things are thingsthat are contained within your
central nervous system from raw, toxic emotion of the past, and
the drill method offers a way tolet them go.
Guys, if you'd like to do anyof this work with me, I've got
the Choose your Destiny LiveIntensive coming up right

(23:57):
outside of St Louis MissouriAugust 22nd and 23rd.
My new book, inner World OuterWorld, will be released on
August 19th.
It's just a couple days beforethe workshop and I'm going to be
teaching the drill method awhole lot more over the coming
months.
It's going to become thefoundation of everything that

(24:17):
Inner Wealth Global is built on,and if you're interested in
getting into the shadow work andhaving me guide you through
some of the shadow work, themeditation bundle is available
on my website,innerwealthglobalcom.
There's about eight meditationson there.
They often most of them get youinto your shadow so you can
start releasing this fuckingenergy, this toxic emotion,

(24:39):
energy in motion, this toxicityin your body that's got you in
survival mode and kept you infear.
Fight or flight, survivalanxiety, panic, if any, if
you're dealing with any of thatthe need for approval, the need,
all the constant need for more, even though you have enough.
If this sounds like you and youwant to get a start, my

(25:01):
meditation bundle oninterwealthglobalcom will help
and then look for my upcomingrelease in a world uh inner
world, outer world and if youreally want to come and do some
work with me the choose yourDestiny Live Intensive, august
22nd, 23rd I'd love to lead youin person through this stuff.
They're powerful, they'repowerful events and I know that

(25:21):
together, shoulder to shoulder,we can make your life more free,
more fulfilling, morepurposeful and rewarding.
But we've got to let go of thepast and the drill method can
help.
