Today, Jan is joined by Ted L. Turner, who is an engineer, a leader, and the author of The Tornado's Daughter. Alongside him we have the subject of his book, survivor of hunger, poverty, and just about any abuse one person can inflict upon another, Charlotte Gwalt. From a childhood marked by extreme abuse, neglect, and brainwashing at the hands of her father, in part one Charlotte recounts a life of constant fear, hunger, and manipulation. After her sister escapes, a lonely and desperate 13-year-old Charlotte is left behind, where she becomes the target of predators who traffic and assault her. This episode details her incredible survival through unthinkable trauma, a terrifying pregnancy, and a desperate escape, only to face the heartbreak of losing her first child. Her story is a raw and shocking account of resilience in the face of evil, ending as she glimpses a potential new beginning.
