Alright, my friend, as always, before we get started, let me
tell you about the question ofthe day.
Tiffany Mason (01:03):
Please.
Jay Franze (01:03):
The question of the
day.
What is the best?
That way we can have acompetition.
What is the best song ever in amovie?
What is the best song ever in amovie?
Do you not answer it now?
Think about it for a littlewhile.
And if you would like to putyour responses in the comments
section, we will go ahead andread those off a little later in
(01:24):
the show as well.
But now the start of the show.
Came across an article today.
And the twenty best guitaristsin country music.
Tiffany Mason (01:41):
Mmm.
Jay Franze (01:42):
The 20 best
guitarists in country music.
I will go ahead and readthrough them.
As always, I have not read themin advance, so this will be new
to both me and you.
Tiffany Mason (01:51):
It'll be really
new to me because I probably
don't know any of them.
Jay Franze (01:55):
You know what?
I believe you're gonna knowright out of the gate.
Tiffany Mason (02:00):
Okay.
I love your faith in me.
Jay Franze (02:03):
I know, right?
I should be fired for that.
Jay, you're fired.
All right.
Fired for having faith inTiffany.
I don't know if we can makethis a competition.
I guess we could.
Let's go ahead and pick ourfavorite three and then we'll go
ahead and narrow it down.
How about that?
Okay.
All right.
Number one, Keith Urban.
Tiffany Mason (02:24):
Oh.
I do know those guitarists.
Jay Franze (02:27):
You two?
See?
Keith Urban, known for playinga fender strat.
I have one here to my right.
It is not mine, it is mydaughter's.
She has two.
Tiffany Mason (02:38):
Oh, wow.
Jay Franze (02:39):
Yes, one we won at a
conference.
Couple hundred thousand peopleat this conference.
And we each entered, we enteredthe family, we entered
everybody into this in order totry to win it.
And she just knew she was goingto win.
She went up to the people, youknow, how do I know when I win?
You know, how do I getnotified?
(02:59):
And they said, Well, you know, when the whole conference is
over, we'll go ahead and tallyup and we'll announce it.
Well, I kid you not, thatfollowing Monday or Tuesday
after the conference, she gets atext message saying, You won.
Tiffany Mason (03:14):
That's so
awesome.
Jay Franze (03:15):
Good for her.
Tiffany Mason (03:16):
They say that uh
what do you think about your
bringabout?
So she manifested it.
Jay Franze (03:21):
She did.
Keith Urban.
And I believe he is in therunning for top three.
Tiffany Mason (03:27):
Okay.
Jay Franze (03:28):
So I don't know if
you got your notes going, but I
do.
You are our minute taker.
Tiffany Mason (03:33):
I do have him
going, Jay.
Jay Franze (03:35):
Next on the list,
Ben Goller.
From the Quartz Hill artist.
He also plays a telecaster.
Okay.
Alright.
Next, Chet Atkins.
We're going a little furtherback, but he is known for being
a great guitar player.
Tiffany Mason (03:52):
And does it say
what he plays?
Because I was gonna maybe keepa little tally.
Jay Franze (03:56):
It doesn't say, but
in the picture it is showing him
play a Gibson.
Tiffany Mason (04:00):
Okay.
Jay Franze (04:01):
Next.
Oh, this one.
Also a Gibson.
Tell you that now.
Okay.
Vince Gill.
Amy, did you throw that inhere?
Are you high up on thatmountain?
Tiffany Mason (04:17):
I was gonna say,
you know what I really like
hearing this guitar is during GoUp High on the Mountain.
Nice.
Jay Franze (04:24):
Yes, he is an
awesome guitar player.
He doesn't get the credit hedeserves when it comes to
playing guitar because he'sknown for you know his vocal.
Tiffany Mason (04:34):
His vocal
outshines his guitar ability.
Jay Franze (04:37):
I don't know if it
does.
I actually like his guitarplaying better than his vocal.
Tiffany Mason (04:41):
Okay.
Jay Franze (04:42):
He's in the Eagles
now playing guitar.
Oh wow, cool.
So never know.
Glenn Campbell.
He's playing a fender strat.
Starting to see a trend here.
I had never really thought ofhim as a guitar player.
I know he is, and I know he'sgood at it, but I never really
thought of him as being one ofthe best.
(05:03):
But he plays both acoustic andelectric guitars.
Tiffany Mason (05:06):
Does it take a
different skill set to play
electric versus acoustic?
Jay Franze (05:10):
I think it does.
No, I'm not a guitar player.
I think it does for a couplereasons.
I think most people who playelectric guitar are usually lead
guitar players.
Most people who play acousticsare rhythm guitar players.
So that in itself is adifferent skill set.
And then acoustic guitars, theintonation and their setup on
(05:31):
the guitar itself is differentthan an electric guitar.
So usually an electric guitar, the strings are a little closer
to the fretboard, a littleeasier to play the guitar.
But if you're starting to playsolos on an acoustic, it really
takes some hand strength.
Tiffany Mason (05:45):
You just said a
whole bunch of stuff.
Okay.
Jay Franze (05:50):
Let me simplify it.
Yes.
Tiffany Mason (05:52):
Okay.
Okay.
So I'm thinking of I went to goto see Johnny James, right?
We're gonna talk about itlater.
But he played acoustically.
Yes.
Okay.
You're saying that on theelectric the strings are closer
to the fret?
Correct.
Okay.
And then what was the lastpiece that you were saying?
Jay Franze (06:11):
A singer typically
plays acoustic and strums a
rhythm while they sing.
Tiffany Mason (06:17):
Yes.
Jay Franze (06:17):
But if they were to
play lead on an acoustic, it
takes a lot of hand strengthbecause you gotta press the
strings down a little further.
So it's a lot more tiring wherean electric guitar is a lot
easier to do that.
Tiffany Mason (06:31):
Is there a weight
difference?
Because it looks like theelectric guitars are thinner,
like they're compact, they don'thave that hollow body.
So is there a weight differencein them as well?
Jay Franze (06:41):
Yes, the electric's
much heavier because it's solid
wood.
Tiffany Mason (06:45):
Okay.
Jay Franze (06:46):
Where the acoustic
is very thin wood with a hollow
body, so it's much lighter.
Tiffany Mason (06:52):
One other
question.
Talking about different skillsets, when do the pedals come
into play?
Jay Franze (06:59):
Pedals are
different.
You can have a tuner, you couldhave it be a distortion pedal.
Tiffany Mason (07:05):
Oh, cool.
Jay Franze (07:05):
You can have it be a
delay.
So there's all sorts ofdifferent pedals that do
different things.
That's why when you go to aconcert, you might see an
electric guitar player with 20pedals on the floor in front of
them.
Yes.
So they've got a pedal for eachone of those things, and then
they can either isolate them oneat a time or you can layer them
on top of each other.
(07:25):
So that way you might have adelay and you know distortion.
So you might have two differentthings going on at one time.
Tiffany Mason (07:32):
Oh, very cool.
Jay Franze (07:33):
Or three or four or
so on.
Tiffany Mason (07:35):
Yeah.
Layer it up.
There you go.
Give the fans what they'relooking for.
Jay Franze (07:40):
And I have been
known on occasion in the studio
to have a singer sing throughone of those pedals.
So that way they're gettingwhat's intended to be a guitar
effect on their vocal.
Tiffany Mason (07:53):
How do you do
that?
You plug the microphone intothe pedal?
Jay Franze (07:55):
Yeah, you can just
run the signal chain through the
pedal before it goes to thetape machine.
Tiffany Mason (08:00):
Interesting.
Jay Franze (08:01):
So that way, like
the girl Tristan Burke, I
produced her album, her entirealbum is going through a
distortion pedal.
Tiffany Mason (08:08):
Ah.
So how do they recreate that onstage then?
Jay Franze (08:12):
They either have to
do go through a distortion pedal
and curse me the whole time.
Or they just sing it normallybecause most people wouldn't
even know whether it's there ornot.
It's not it's not heavy.
Tiffany Mason (08:23):
It's not like
well, I think it's like when I'm
doing podcast editing, right?
Like the audio version, that'sall you have.
Right.
And so it sounds cool, and youknow, you can pick up on those
things, but then like live inconcert, you're distracted by
your friend and you're takingselfies and what the person's
wearing, and all the otherpeople that are at the concert,
and all the other senses aretriggered.
So that makes sense to me thatuh maybe it's something that you
(08:46):
don't pick up so much asmissing at the concert.
So, anyways, okay.
Jeepers J.
Can we please talk about thetop 20 guitarists in the city?
Jay Franze (08:54):
Moving on, Steve
Warner.
Steve Warner also shown withlooks like a Gretsch, Gretsch
guitar.
Tiffany Mason (09:03):
What's a Gretsch?
Jay Franze (09:04):
It's just a brand.
Tiffany Mason (09:06):
Okay.
Jay Franze (09:06):
Steve Warner was
always a you know great artist.
I like Steve Warner.
I don't know too much abouthim.
Tiffany Mason (09:13):
I don't know
anything about him, so you know
more than me.
Jay Franze (09:15):
There you go.
Tiffany Mason (09:16):
How about that?
You guys are like best friendscompared to Steven and I.
Jay Franze (09:20):
I mean, he had a lot
of radio hits, so he was a
popular dude.
Moving on.
Hunter Hayes.
Tiffany Mason (09:30):
Love me some
Hunter Hayes.
Jay Franze (09:32):
Fender strat.
Now, this is one I was unawareof that he played the guitar.
But apparently he's veryaccomplished at it.
Tiffany Mason (09:42):
Well, if he made
top 20.
Jay Franze (09:44):
Yeah, but it says it
right here.
Very accomplished overall.
Tiffany Mason (09:48):
Oh.
Jay Franze (09:51):
He plays a wide
variety of instruments as well.
Tiffany Mason (09:55):
Okay.
Jay Franze (09:56):
Next, the first
female on our list.
Tiffany Mason (10:01):
Okay.
Jay Franze (10:01):
Lindsay L.
Tiffany Mason (10:03):
E.
L.
Jay Franze (10:05):
E.
L.
Tiffany Mason (10:06):
Oh.
Can't say that I know her.
Jay Franze (10:10):
I can't see the
guitar because she's standing
sideways.
If I were to guess, it lookslike a fender strat, but I can't
be a hundred percent certain.
Tiffany Mason (10:19):
I'm gonna mark
it.
Jay Franze (10:20):
Typically, the best
guitarists in country music have
been men.
Overwhelmingly have been men.
But Lindsay L is one of therare exceptions.
Tiffany Mason (10:30):
Well, critical
Lindsay.
Jay Franze (10:32):
There you go.
Next, Frankie Ballard.
He is a great example of anartist that's doing his own
thing and doing it his way.
Seems like a little bit of aredundancy there, but okay.
It looks like a Gibson.
Tiffany Mason (10:50):
Okay.
Jay Franze (10:51):
Next, Casey James.
Now, Casey, I'm not gonna beable to tell you what guitar
he's playing because it's anacoustic and it's uh it's an odd
one that I've never seenbefore.
Tiffany Mason (11:03):
Should I put that
as a category?
Odd acoustic.
Jay Franze (11:06):
Odd acoustic.
Tiffany Mason (11:08):
Unidentified
guitar.
Jay Franze (11:12):
But he's really good
at guitar.
I mean, he was on AmericanIdol, too.
Tiffany Mason (11:16):
So yeah, I
thought the name sounded
familiar.
Jay Franze (11:19):
Yeah.
Alright, Charlie Warsham.
Tiffany Mason (11:23):
Uh-huh.
Jay Franze (11:24):
He plays a Gibson.
Tiffany Mason (11:26):
It's like he's
dirty, so you better go Warsham.
Yeah, that's exactly what I wasthinking.
Jay Franze (11:33):
There goes the last
listener we had.
He is a skilledinstrumentalist, top-notch
singer and songwriter.
John Osborne.
Ooh, we've got a differentguitar to add to our list.
We've got a fender telecaster.
Alright, we said we had atelly.
(11:55):
Well, now the next one is atelly as well.
So two tellies.
Tellies are known for being inold school country music for
sure.
People use them for thatchicken picking style.
Tiffany Mason (12:08):
Mm-hmm.
Jay Franze (12:09):
Okay.
And the next person on thislist is known for that chicken
picking style, which wouldexplain why he is playing the
telly.
And that is Brent Mason.
Who?
Brent Mason.
You may not recognize the namebecause Brent Mason is a studio
(12:30):
guitarist in Nashville.
Oh.
He is probably considered thebest studio guitarist in
Nashville.
Oh wow.
He's had that reputation for anawful long time.
Now there are a lot of amazingguitar players in the studio in
Nashville.
I mean, we talk about one of myfavorites, Jeff King.
(12:50):
Yeah.
So, I mean, you get someamazing guitar players.
However, Brent Mason istypically known as the best.
Tiffany Mason (12:58):
Wow.
Jay Franze (12:59):
And he's played on
every every country record you
can imagine.
Tiffany Mason (13:02):
I mean well, if
he's the best.
Jay Franze (13:04):
He is the best.
Claire Dunn, another telly.
Tiffany Mason (13:11):
Okay, I I don't
want to say this, but I am gonna
ask.
There's a Fender Telecaster anda Fender strat.
Jay Franze (13:20):
Yes.
Tiffany Mason (13:20):
Okay.
Jay Franze (13:21):
Who Telecaster and
Stratocaster.
Tiffany Mason (13:24):
I thought I was
gonna get fired.
Jay Franze (13:26):
Yeah, you should,
but no, it's okay.
And Claire Dunn plays thetelecaster.
Yes.
Otherwise known as the Tele.
She is a young artist who keepsthe flame burning with great
guitar playing in country music.
Next, Albert Lee.
(13:50):
He looks like an oldergentleman.
Says here that his career hasspanned multiple genres.
But he's especially celebratedfor his country picking.
So that's that chicken pickingstuff we keep talking about.
He's played with the EverlyBrothers, Emmy Lou Harris.
He's also a five-time guitarplayer magazine award winner.
Tiffany Mason (14:13):
Oh wow.
Jay Franze (14:14):
And he's playing a
guitar that I have never seen
before.
Okay, we've got anotherunidentified next in Jerry Reed.
Jerry Reed, he is holding anacoustic guitar that looks like
a Gibson, but I can't reallytell for sure.
He's holding it sideways, butit does look like a Gibson.
Tiffany Mason (14:34):
We're marking it.
Jay Franze (14:35):
Gibson's are a
little larger in size, and this
looks like it's pretty large.
Alright, next is a Gibson.
Chase Bryant.
Chase Bryant's guitar style isunusual.
It's quite unusual, since heplays the instrument upside down
and backwards.
Tiffany Mason (14:53):
Oh, interesting.
Jay Franze (14:54):
But that doesn't
stop him.
He is a shredder.
Oh he combines both country androck.
Tiffany Mason (15:01):
Sounds like
you're a kind of guitarist.
Jay Franze (15:04):
Now it says he plays
it upside down and backwards.
But the picture shows itcorrect.
Now he is left-handed.
So that's the backwards part.
Tiffany Mason (15:16):
Yep.
Jay Franze (15:17):
Upside down would be
if he kept the strings
traditional.
So they're still strung like aright-handed guitar, even though
he's playing it left-handed.
Some people do that becausewhen they when they've picked up
a guitar at the beginning, itwas right-handed, even though
they played it left-handed.
Mm-hmm.
So next, Merle Travis.
(15:37):
He is an older dude.
I do not recognize what kind ofguitar he's playing.
If I were to guess, it doeslook most like a Gibson.
Tiffany Mason (15:47):
You want to go
Gibson or Unidentified?
Jay Franze (15:49):
Unidentified.
Tiffany Mason (15:53):
Would you like it
to be not photographed well?
First and last.
Jay Franze (15:58):
Sarah Zimmerman.
Tiffany Mason (16:00):
Bailey's wife.
No.
Jay Franze (16:02):
Sarah Zimmerman.
She's playing a Takamini.
That's an acoustic guitar.
Tiffany Mason (16:10):
Tacamini.
Jay Franze (16:12):
No, I worked in the
studio with a producer, Jim
Cristaldi.
And Jim Cristaldi played aTacamini.
But his sound, his signaturesound came from the Takamini.
Alright, so with that said, Iwould like to add Jim to this
list because he's not includedon it and he deserves it.
Tiffany Mason (16:31):
Okay.
Jay Franze (16:31):
Jim Cristaldi
deserves to be on the list, and
Jeff King deserves to be on thelist.
Okay.
Now, Jim Cristaldi, he's aproducer, songwriter out of
Nashville.
I have known him since the dayI moved to Nashville.
He was the first person I metand worked with.
He's an amazing, amazingplayer.
He plays multiple instruments, including drums and stuff.
(16:54):
He's really, really good.
He's had a few albums of hisown out.
Very talented.
He played guitar and and bassand probably anything else on
Tristan Burke's record.
And he played on MaddieMcCree's.
Tiffany Mason (17:10):
Oh, nice.
Jay Franze (17:11):
Co-produced those
records with me.
Cannot say enough good things.
He never gets the credit hedeserves.
Now Jeff King gets the credithe deserves.
I mean, everybody loves JeffKing.
He's played on every majorrecord under the sun.
Tours regularly with Reba andtours regularly with Brooks and
Dunn.
However, not on this list, andhe absolutely deserves to be.
Alright.
(17:32):
Keith Urban, definitely on thelist.
Chet Atkins on the list.
Okay.
Vince Gill on the list.
Yep.
Brad Paisley.
Tiffany Mason (17:42):
Okay.
Jay Franze (17:43):
Brent Mason.
Tiffany Mason (17:45):
Got him.
Jay Franze (17:46):
And then if it were
me, I'd put Jim Cristaldi and
Jeff King.
Tiffany Mason (17:53):
Perfect.
Okay.
Do you want to keep Jim andJeff on here for our elimination
process?
Jay Franze (18:00):
Keep them only as
honorable mentions because we
have to go with the best of this20 list.
Tiffany Mason (18:06):
Okay.
Then you have to choose fromKeith Urban, Vince Gill, Brent
Mason, Chet Atkins, or BradPaisley.
Who would you like to eliminatefirst?
Jay Franze (18:17):
Chet Atkins.
Tiffany Mason (18:19):
Okay.
Then we have Keith Urban, VinceGill, Brent Mason, or Brad
Paisley.
So let's just take Brad Paisleyoff, and it has to go between
those three.
Oh, okay.
Jay Franze (18:33):
Okay, so is there
anybody else on the list?
Tiffany Mason (18:36):
No.
Just those four.
Jay Franze (18:39):
That makes us very
tough.
All right.
Well, let's just start picking.
Tiffany Mason (18:49):
Okay, Keith Urban
or Vince Gill?
Jay Franze (18:52):
I prefer Keith
Urban, but I don't know.
Vince Gill.
Tiffany Mason (18:56):
Well, he's gone.
Vince is gone.
Keith or Brent?
Jay Franze (19:01):
Oh, that's so wrong.
Are we putting a list of topthree or are we or are we just
saying who's the best?
Tiffany Mason (19:09):
I mean the
question is who's the best?
Jay Franze (19:11):
Brent Mason.
We don't really need to worryabout it.
Tiffany Mason (19:14):
Okay.
I feel like that helps you ifwe just go with one.
Because he's got the stats toback up his reputation.
Jay Franze (19:22):
Alright, well, we've
beat that to death.
Let's go ahead and move on tothe news.
Tiffany Mason (19:28):
Well, I think
it's very appropriate then that
we are gonna jump right intoKeith Urban news.
Are you ready?
Jay Franze (19:34):
As long as we're not
jumping right into Keith Urban,
that would be rude.
Tiffany Mason (19:37):
Well, I might
enjoy it.
I mean, Billy Joe Jones saidhe's a great performer, so
maybe.
Jay Franze (19:45):
What are we
performing?
All right, let's move on beforewe get into it.
Tiffany Mason (19:50):
Whoa, whoa.
You almost got a response.
Okay.
Keith Urban is returning to thestage, but I'm sure by now
everybody knows Keith Urban andNicole Kimmen are splitzville.
Okay.
Jay Franze (20:01):
So unfortunate.
Tiffany Mason (20:03):
Unfortunate, yes.
His tour right now is high andalive.
And his last performance inHershey, Hershey, Pennsylvania,
he quietly dropped the song TheFighter and replaced it with
Wild Hearts.
And that change comes right asnews from Nicole Kimman and him
splitting.
And fans are wondering ifthat's deliberate.
(20:25):
And I gotta say, maybe so,because he also was not wearing
his wedding ring at thisperformance.
And he changed the line.
It says, Take your space andtake your reasons, and he
changed it to take your spaceand your stupid bull.
Beep reasons.
Jay Franze (20:45):
Wow.
Sounds like someone might beholding a grudge.
Tiffany Mason (20:49):
Yes, yes, yes.
So he's having a it must be areflection of his emotional
state, proving he's not shyingaway from personal expression.
Jay Franze (20:59):
Saw somebody posted
a picture of her with somebody
else, speculating that that'swhat the breakup was all about.
I hate that again.
That's just speculation notcoming from me.
Tiffany Mason (21:10):
Oh.
Well, I don't like that news.
I thought they were a cutecouple.
And I loved during COVID theyperformed that fighter song.
And I don't know, I just lovedit.
Jay Franze (21:21):
So I thought they
were a great couple.
And like I said, I met her aswell.
She was very, very nice.
Tiffany Mason (21:26):
Mm-hmm.
Jay Franze (21:27):
He got his record
deal in 99, which is the year
that I moved to Nashville.
Okay.
And I've told you before that hewas the first artist I worked
with when I moved to Nashville.
Tiffany Mason (21:38):
Mm-hmm.
Jay Franze (21:39):
He was opening up
for Phil Vassar.
Tiffany Mason (21:42):
That is pretty
impressive to have that be your
first person to encounter andwork with.
Jay Franze (21:47):
Well, I mean, he
wasn't that big at that time.
Tiffany Mason (21:50):
Yeah, yeah.
Jay Franze (21:51):
I mean he he had a a
song on the radio, but no, he
was the opening act for PhilVassar.
Now Phil Vassar would love tobe the opening act for Keith
Urban.
Tiffany Mason (22:01):
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
I wonder how many times thatactually happens, where like
someone Oh, they outpace eachother all the time.
Yeah, yeah.
Jay Franze (22:10):
But Phil Vassar he
is just a monster when it comes
to songwriting.
He's a songwriter more than heis an artist.
He's an amazing artist, anamazing piano player.
But he wrote all of JodyMessina's songs.
I mean, he's just an amazingsongwriter.
So he's uh he's making bang.
(22:31):
He's not worried about any ofthat.
Tiffany Mason (22:33):
He doesn't care
who's opening for who.
Jay Franze (22:36):
Who cares?
Tiffany Mason (22:37):
Yeah.
Jay Franze (22:37):
I'll I'll open up.
I get to go home early.
Kids go to bed before the kids.
Tiffany Mason (22:43):
Well, Darius
Rucker, sorry ladies, he is off
the market.
Wedding bells will soon beringing for Darius Rucker and
his fiance Emily Deal.
And on October 8th, the AllRight Singer announced that he
was engaged to Emily, asongwriter and singer and
content creator.
And in a joint post onInstagram, the couple shared a
(23:04):
photo of the moment Dariusproposed with a selfie of them
featuring Emily with her newring.
Jay Franze (23:11):
Nice.
Good for him.
Congratulations.
Tiffany Mason (23:13):
Congratulations.
And she looks just a hairyounger than him.
That's okay.
That's right.
Good for him.
Jay Franze (23:21):
Speaking of
proposals, let me just take a
quick tangent if you don't mind.
Tiffany Mason (23:25):
Please, please,
Jay.
Jay Franze (23:26):
Driving down the
road from my house, there's two
houses directly across thestreet from each other that have
Halloween displays up already.
Tiffany Mason (23:33):
Okay.
Jay Franze (23:34):
They both have
skeleton displays in their front
yard.
Tiffany Mason (23:37):
Okay.
Jay Franze (23:38):
One on my right,
they have like that part
matters, but they're on myright.
They have a skeleton display ofTravis proposing to Taylor.
Tiffany Mason (23:49):
Okay.
Jay Franze (23:50):
So it's kind of
cute.
Tiffany Mason (23:52):
Yeah.
Jay Franze (23:53):
To my left, they
have a display of five skeletons
sitting around a stage givingdollars to a stripper on a pole.
That's awesome.
It is truly awesome.
It really is.
My wife took a picture and sentit to me.
She goes, Have you seen thisyet?
I'm like, Yes, yes, I have.
It's awesome.
Tiffany Mason (24:13):
That was fun.
I remember um three or fouryears ago when I was driving
through the neighborhoods, wewere checking out people's
decorations.
And there was one where there'sa whole bunch of skeletons,
beer cans everywhere sittingaround a campfire.
I love when they do theskeleton whatever.
Jay Franze (24:28):
That's what the
stripper guy does.
He does a different theme everyyear.
You know, they had him one yearcarrying a coffin, they had him
one year sitting around acampfire with beer.
Tiffany Mason (24:37):
Oh, yeah, they've
had the coffin carrying too.
Yeah.
Jay Franze (24:39):
So they're probably
getting it all from the same
website.
But either way, it's unique tous.
So when we see him, it's it'sawesome.
We're always looking forward towhatever he's getting
displayed.
Now there was one cranky assperson on the neighborhood group
that complained about it, butquickly gets shot down by
everybody else on the group.
Tiffany Mason (24:59):
Shut it, Karen.
Jay Franze (25:01):
I wasn't gonna say
Karen, but you know, since you
brought it up.
Karen Smith.
She lives at 326 West MainStreet.
Tiffany Mason (25:12):
Okay, Luke Combs
is teasing some new vibes.
So he just dropped three songsas kind of a prequel to his
album that's gonna be comingout.
It is a three-song collection,and it dropped October 3rd.
Jay Franze (25:23):
What what do we call
that?
Tiffany Mason (25:24):
Oh, just an EP.
Jay Franze (25:26):
Oh, damn.
We I need one.
I need one.
Hold on.
Hold on.
Where is it?
Sorry.
Tiffany Mason (25:34):
Ouch.
Jay Franze (25:35):
You got it.
Tiffany Mason (25:36):
Oh.
Jay Franze (25:37):
Just I had to look
for a positive button.
Sorry, it took a little whileto find one of those.
Tiffany Mason (25:42):
I don't think
that was very positive though.
Jay Franze (25:43):
The air horn?
Oh, yeah.
No, that's good.
That's what you get when youscore a goal or when you do
something good.
Tiffany Mason (25:48):
Okay.
Okay.
So I I'm in.
Okay.
So the three songs he releasedwas Days Like These, 15 minutes.
And the last track they'resaying, which is called My Kind
of Saturday Night, is lending aname to a possible upcoming
tour.
So we'll see if it's called MyKind of Saturday Night tour.
We'll see.
(26:08):
You know, like my dad says, live long enough, you'll find
out.
Jay Franze (26:12):
Nice.
Tiffany Mason (26:14):
So 2026.
Jay Franze (26:16):
We talked about
weddings and he proposed to his
wife the day he won his firstCMA award.
Tiffany Mason (26:23):
Cool.
Classy.
Jay Franze (26:26):
Classy or cheesy.
Either way it worked.
Tiffany Mason (26:29):
Well, I like it
because for a chick, it's like
super special.
He's being honored.
You're already dressed up.
I like it.
Jay Franze (26:37):
Okay.
Tiffany Mason (26:38):
I like it.
Okay, Cole Swindell has made asurprise guest appearance at the
Brandon Lake Show in Atlanta.
Swindell popped up to performMake Heaven Crowded in a
stripped-down emotional duet.
They started an onlinefriendship and it turned into
this live moment, and the fansare already sharing the clips.
(26:59):
I'm sure they have gone viral.
Jay Franze (27:02):
He's a talented
dude.
Tiffany Mason (27:04):
Cole Swindell or
Brandon Lake?
Jay Franze (27:06):
Cole Swindell.
Tiffany Mason (27:08):
Remember, I
wouldn't know because I didn't
get to see Brandon Lake, remember, on Sunday SCMA Fest.
Jay Franze (27:14):
Can't help if you
don't run fast enough.
Cole Swindell, he co-wroteevery song on his record.
So he has talents.
Tiffany Mason (27:23):
Like really
co-wrote.
I don't know.
Jay Franze (27:26):
Yes, he I would
think that he co-wrote every
song on his record.
Oh, trying to think of theartist's name.
Or his name.
One of my favorites.
Who is it?
Oh, Luke Bryan.
Cole Swindell used to be LukeBryan's merch manager.
Tiffany Mason (27:40):
Oh, really?
Jay Franze (27:42):
Yeah.
You probably thought he had apretty cool gig then.
Tiffany Mason (27:47):
Right?
Jay Franze (27:48):
Now he's co-writing
every song on record.
Tiffany Mason (27:50):
If he only could
see himself five years ahead.
Jay Franze (27:52):
Yeah.
Tiffany Mason (27:53):
Or however long
it took.
Maybe it was two years.
Okay, Gretchen Wilson.
I'm kind of excited about thislittle announcement.
So she is actually the tourmanager on the CBS show The
Road.
It will be debuting on October19th at 9 p.m.
And she is the co-manageralongside Keith Urban and Blake
(28:15):
Shelton.
And we have made all kinds ofruckus about this.
And Jay, do you remember why?
Jay Franze (28:21):
I'm sorry.
I'm not paying attention toyou.
I don't remember why.
Tiffany Mason (28:27):
Because our very
own Billy Joe Jones is one of
the artists on the show.
Jay Franze (28:32):
Yes, we love Billy
Joe Jones.
Tiffany Mason (28:35):
We do love Billy
Joe Jones.
Jay Franze (28:36):
There's another
artist of ours, I say of ours,
previous guest of the show.
We can't lay claim to thesepeople, but previous guest of
the show is also on the voiceright now.
Tiffany Mason (28:47):
Oh my gosh, tell
me now.
Jay Franze (28:49):
Tell you now.
Mackenzie Phipps.
Tiffany Mason (28:52):
Oh wow.
Jay Franze (28:53):
Not only is she on
the voice, but just last night,
the chair turned around from theone and only Snoop Dogg.
Tiffany Mason (29:00):
Oh wow.
I'm gonna have to go catch theepisode.
Jay Franze (29:03):
And Reba tried to
convince Snoop to turn his chair
around, and Reba didn't turnher chair around.
I was like, well, that's odd.
But she was she was out ofvotes.
She had a full team.
Tiffany Mason (29:15):
Oh shoot.
Jay Franze (29:17):
So she told
McKenzie, she goes, Don't worry,
later in this season we'reallowed to steal artists.
So I mean they all seem toreally like her.
So congratulations to McKenzieas well.
Tiffany Mason (29:29):
Cool.
Wow.
Well, they are going to be onthe road with Gretchen Wilson as
the tour manager, the quoteunquote tour manager.
That's her TV role in thisshow.
Jay Franze (29:40):
Why not?
Tiffany Mason (29:41):
They have 12
singers that are rising and
performing and blending realconcert stages with behind the
scenes pressure.
So I'm looking forward to that.
Jay Franze (29:50):
With Keith Urban.
I've never worked with her, butI've been around her, and she's
just known for going in andknocking her songs out one or
two takes tops.
Yeah.
She's an amazing vocalist.
Tiffany Mason (30:10):
Well, she's a
redneck woman.
She's not a high-class girl.
Jay Franze (30:13):
That's true.
Yes.
But she is one, you know, thatBilly Joe or whoever else could
definitely learn some thingsfrom.
Tiffany Mason (30:20):
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Jay Franze (30:22):
Especially Billy
Joe.
She's a little on the sweetside.
Tiffany Mason (30:24):
Yeah.
Rough her up a little bit.
Right.
Jay Franze (30:27):
Beat her around a
little.
Yeah, that's all right.
In a good way.
Tiffany Mason (30:31):
Well, I was
interested with our next story,
Jenny Tolman.
She actually is also on theroad.
Not on the road, but on theshow The Road.
Close enough.
Which will give her a little bitmore exposure in the weeks
ahead.
But she just dropped a newvideo and is running in the lead
(30:52):
for the Taste of Country'sweekly video poll.
The song is maybe next month, and it's very sad because it is
talking about infertility.
And I thought, like, kind ofgood on you because there's not
any songs about infertility.
So it's a very sweet song.
Jay Franze (31:10):
Okay.
Tiffany Mason (31:11):
It's a very sweet
song.
It was really nice.
It was very too much.
Yep.
It was very tastefully done.
So we can look forward toseeing her on the show, The
Road.
Jay Franze (31:22):
She recorded her her
first album or demo at the
Sound Emporium in Nashville.
That's where like Willie Nelsonrecorded, Allison Krauss
recorded their very popularstudio.
I never had the opportunity towork out of there of all the
studios in Nashville.
I think I've worked at everyone of them, but not the Sound
Emporium.
Tiffany Mason (31:42):
Well.
So with Dolly postponing herLas Vegas run due to the health
issues we talked about lastweek, McGraw will headline
several shows at the Coliseum atCaesars Palace in December.
It's a rare Vegas residencymove and gives fans something
special to look forward to thiswinter.
I will be honest though, if Iwas looking forward to seeing
(32:03):
Dolly Parton and I saw TimMcGraw instead, I'd be bummed.
I agree with you.
And I'd be happy to havesomebody in her place, I
suppose.
Jay Franze (32:14):
All right.
Since baseball season's comingto an end, are you aware that
Tim McGraw's father was aprofessional baseball player?
Tiffany Mason (32:23):
No.
Jay Franze (32:23):
Tug McGraw.
Tiffany Mason (32:25):
Tug McGraw.
Jay Franze (32:26):
Tug.
Tug McGraw.
But he was a professionalbaseball player.
Tiffany Mason (32:34):
Okay.
Well, you're gonna have to helpme because we're gonna talk
about Rascal Flats, but I don'tknow how to say Gary's last
name.
Jay Franze (32:41):
LeVox.
Tiffany Mason (32:43):
Okay.
So the group says the idea toreunite came after Gary and Jay
were joking around, and Jay'swife playfully nudged him to get
out of the house.
Jennifer did that?
Jay, your wife did that?
Jay Franze (32:55):
Yeah.
First of all, his wife is very, very nice.
I worked with him, but I mether at the Opry one night, and
she needed a place to change hernewborn baby's diaper.
So she used my car.
Tiffany Mason (33:11):
Makes sense to
me.
Jay Franze (33:12):
Yeah.
So there you go.
A little tidbit.
We wanted tidbits on the show.
You guys wanted to hear morestories about behind the scenes?
That's what happens.
Artists' wives use my car tochange diapers.
There you go.
No, I mean, he was um he wasnice enough.
He owned his own studio builtby Carl Tatz.
(33:33):
And Bob and I went to hispersonal studio and did some
work out of that for him oneday.
It was very nice.
Tiffany Mason (33:41):
Cool.
Jay Franze (33:42):
But the night I I
saw him at the Opry was the
night that his wife needed aplace to go.
So I just handed her my keysand said, have fun.
Tiffany Mason (33:50):
Gonuts.
Okay.
Well, Jason Aldean and LukeBryan are rocking the Sanford
Stadium together in 2026.
The two Georgia nativesannounced a co-headline show at
UGA Sanford Stadium, marking thefirst concert ever in modern
times at the venue.
(34:11):
The Live Between the Hedgesseries features a star lineup
including Zach Top and LaurenElena.
That would be a cool show tosee.
I think that more artists shouldco-headline.
I could see that.
Although they kind of do whenthere's like a medium name that
is opening for them.
And what is the deal withpeople not showing up for the
(34:32):
openers?
Jay Franze (34:33):
Oh, you mean for the
fans not to show up for the
opening acts?
Tiffany Mason (34:36):
Yes.
That blows my mind.
Like you have the opportunityto hear somebody up and coming.
No, no interest, no respect.
No.
This person is out therebusting and hustling just as
much as the main brand person orthe well-recognized person.
And like, no, you're just stuckat dinner.
(34:58):
You can't get there in time.
Jay Franze (35:00):
I can see it
sometimes.
There's been times where I'mrushing from a session or
something.
You're you just can't make iton time.
I get it.
Tiffany Mason (35:07):
I mean, okay,
some people just can't make it
on time, but it seems like it'sa lot more.
Jay Franze (35:11):
Yeah, no, I agree.
Places are usually empty.
Tiffany Mason (35:15):
Yeah, I want to
see all of it.
I want to see all of it.
Especially when people likeZach Top and Lauren Elena are
the opening.
Jay Franze (35:22):
Oh, that's a
different story right there.
Tiffany Mason (35:24):
Yeah.
Jay Franze (35:24):
I would be there for
that one.
But when we just went to seeCindy Lopper, we didn't get to
see the opener.
Tiffany Mason (35:29):
Yeah.
I gotta be there for it.
I don't want to miss it.
And then when we got up, wedidn't get to see our car
either.
What's that?
Jay Franze (35:36):
I said then when we
got out, we didn't get to see
our car either.
Tiffany Mason (35:39):
Yeah.
Jay Franze (35:41):
Whole different
story.
All right.
Sorry.
Back to the news.
Tiffany Mason (35:46):
Well, this was a
name that I was not familiar
with, but Priscilla Block opensup about the moment she rewired
her upcoming album.
So after being passed over fora new artist nomination, Block
scrapped much of her originalproject and refocused to tell
honest stories.
The result is Things You Didn'tSee, and it drops Friday,
(36:06):
August 10th, which leans heavyinto mental health, doubt, and
resilience.
She covered You're Breaking MyHeart, but it's like her own
flair.
So I know this was one of thetips in your book, actually.
Like you can do covers, butjust make them your own.
And she definitely does.
So she sings her song and thenshe goes into You're Breaking My
Heart.
And then she sings like more ofher regular part, and then
(36:31):
you're breaking my heart.
Anyway, I loved it.
I thought that was great.
And I was like, wait, I justlearned that tip in Jay's book.
Nice.
Jay Franze (36:41):
Well, she's another
one that gained her fame from
TikTok, so it's not surprisingyou don't really know much about
her, but she gained her famefrom TikTok.
And I don't know.
Well, I know you remember thestory we talked about just the
other night about the internpainting the wall.
Tiffany Mason (36:54):
Yeah.
Jay Franze (36:55):
That studio was a
studio called Soundstage, which
was directly behind the thecollege, but that's where she
recorded her debut album.
Tiffany Mason (37:03):
Ah.
Very cool.
Okay.
I'm ready to hear from somecrew members.
Jay Franze (37:10):
Oh.
Oh.
All right.
Question of the day.
What is the best song?
Best song.
What is the best song ever in amovie?
Tiffany Mason (37:20):
Ever.
Jay Franze (37:21):
What is the best
song ever in a movie?
We're going to start out andwe're going to start out strong.
Tiffany Mason (37:27):
Ooh, I like it.
Jay Franze (37:28):
But before we start
out strong, I guess we need to
give you the opportunity to gofirst or last.
Tiffany Mason (37:35):
Well, I was going
to go first, and I'll just say
mine super fast, and we don'tneed to say much about it.
But true to form I have two.
Jay Franze (37:43):
Alright, yeah, let's
not say much about it at all.
Tiffany Mason (37:46):
Yeah.
So I'm going to say Danger Zonefrom Top Gun.
And really the whole dirtydancing album, but if I have to
pick one, I guess I'd pickHungry Eyes.
Jay Franze (37:58):
Alright, Patrick
Swayze.
Tiffany Mason (38:00):
Mm-hmm.
Jay Franze (38:01):
I miss Patrick
Swayze.
Tiffany Mason (38:02):
Jennifer
something.
Jay Franze (38:04):
Yeah.
Great.
Jennifer.
My wife just had an opportunityto go to that hotel.
Tiffany Mason (38:10):
Oh, really?
Jay Franze (38:11):
Yeah.
When they picked up the servicedog, they met at that hotel.
Tiffany Mason (38:17):
Cool.
Jay Franze (38:18):
My daughter needed a
service dog.
For those who don't know, Idon't want to just throw out
random service dog.
Anyways.
All right.
Moving on.
Sarah.
Sarah with an H.
Tiffany Mason (38:28):
Sarah.
Jay Franze (38:30):
I will always love
you.
Tiffany Mason (38:32):
It's a good song.
She's she's not wrong.
Jay Franze (38:35):
No, it's been in a
couple movies, she says.
Tiffany Mason (38:38):
Mm-hmm.
Jay Franze (38:38):
No, obviously we
know the one.
Tiffany Mason (38:41):
Bodyguard.
Jay Franze (38:43):
Yes.
But it was also in the bestlittle whorehouse in Texas.
Tiffany Mason (38:46):
Oh, interesting.
Jay Franze (38:48):
That was the Dolly
version.
Tiffany Mason (38:50):
Yeah.
Jay Franze (38:51):
Which is the one she
cited.
So good for her.
Tiffany Mason (38:56):
Yeah.
Jay Franze (38:56):
Thank you.
I don't know if he did that forme or not, but I appreciate
that.
I do think Whitney killed thatsong.
I mean, killed it.
But I just said I just thinkDolly's the queen.
Tiffany Mason (39:10):
She is the queen.
Jay Franze (39:12):
But Whitney killed
it.
Tiffany Mason (39:13):
I mean, she took
some notes and slayed.
Jay Franze (39:17):
Alright, James.
Ring of Fire, Johnny Cash, andWalk the Line.
Tiffany Mason (39:23):
I like that song
a lot.
Jay Franze (39:26):
Lisa says, we're
gonna talk Dolly.
Let's talk about Jolene.
Tiffany Mason (39:31):
Oh.
Jay Franze (39:32):
She doesn't tell me
the movie.
Tiffany Mason (39:34):
Yeah, I don't
know what movie that's in.
Jay Franze (39:36):
Sorry.
Tiffany Mason (39:37):
I will Google it.
Jay Franze (39:38):
Lisa, please.
David says, Stand by your man.
Tiffany Mason (39:45):
Ooh.
Jay Franze (39:46):
Sleepless in
Seattle.
Tiffany Mason (39:48):
Aw, that's a good
movie.
Jay Franze (39:50):
You also gotta start
taking notes too, because we've
got to find out which one ofthese is the best.
It's gonna be hard to beat thatWhitney one, though.
It really is.
Hannah.
Biting my tongue, Hannah.
She says, On the Road Again.
Willie Nelson.
Honeysuckle Rose.
Mike says Hard Candy Christmas.
(40:12):
Also by Dolly Parton.
Also in the best littlewhorehouse in Texas.
Rockalooch.
Thank you, Rockalooch.
Country Roads, John DenverKingsman.
Golden Circle.
Amanda Crazy.
By Patsy Klein.
(40:33):
And the movie Sweet Dreams.
Sophia.
She says Life is a highway.
Movie Cars.
Rascal Flats.
Daniel says Coal Miner'sdaughter, Loretta Lynn.
From the movie Coal Miner'sDaughter.
Ryan says, All my exes live inTexas.
George Strait, movie Roadhousewith Patrick Swayze.
(40:55):
That was a good movie.
Tiffany Mason (40:57):
Mm-hmm.
Jay Franze (40:59):
That was a good
movie.
Tiffany Mason (41:01):
One of my mom's
favorites.
Jay Franze (41:02):
Patrick Swayze was a
actor I don't think got the
credit he deserved.
Tiffany Mason (41:06):
Wait, what was
the song again?
I wrote down Roadhouse, but notthe song.
Jay Franze (41:09):
All my exes live in
Texas.
Tiffany Mason (41:10):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Jay Franze (41:11):
George Strait.
Zach says Folsom Prison Blues,Johnny Cash.
No movie.
Tiffany Mason (41:22):
The Johnny Cash
movie.
There you go.
Jay Franze (41:25):
Madison.
Madison, I do not remembersaying Madison in the past, so
thank you for joining us.
She says Tennessee whiskey.
Chris Stapleton.
The mule.
Ethan says, here you go,Tiffany.
Friends in low places.
Tiffany Mason (41:40):
Yes.
Jay Franze (41:41):
Garth Brooks.
Something to talk about.
I'm going to jump ahead justbecause he should be back to
back, as always.
Natalie says she's in love withthe boy, Trisha Yearwood.
Hope floats.
Tiffany Mason (41:53):
Oh.
Jay Franze (41:54):
I gotta keep Garth
and Trisha together.
Can't let what happened toKeith happen to Garth.
Tiffany Mason (42:03):
Do you remember
last week we talked about?
Jay Franze (42:07):
I don't remember
last week, no.
Tiffany Mason (42:09):
I know.
Well, we talked about TrishaYearwood and the song Mirror.
Jay Franze (42:12):
Yes.
Tiffany Mason (42:13):
And I played it,
and it's actually a great song.
Jay Franze (42:16):
Did you expect it
not to be?
Tiffany Mason (42:19):
I I never know.
I did play the Miranda Lambertsong Run, and I'm not going to
be looking it up again.
Jay Franze (42:27):
Oh, okay.
Tiffany Mason (42:29):
But I would play
the Trisha Yearwood song.
I mean, I did actually play ittwo or three times, but that
one's pretty cool.
She's talking about how herlife is perfect, and then she
looks in the mirror, and thatperson lies to her, and then she
shuts that person down.
So kind of like, you know, you're looking in the mirror
talking to yourself.
Loved it.
Loved it.
Great, great story.
Jay Franze (42:49):
Nice.
Yep.
Laura.
I think Laura hit it.
It deserves to be on the top ofthe list.
Or at least on the list.
She says, Good old boys.
Whelan Jennings.
Just the Dukes of Hazard.
Bless the Broken Road by RascalFlats and Hannah, Montana.
That was from Justin.
That just sounds like such abad choice.
(43:14):
Sorry, Justin.
I mean it's a good song.
Great choice, thank you, but itjust sounds bad.
Megan says, whiskey bent andhellbound.
Hank Jr., Crazy Heart.
Goes on to say, perfect fit forthat rough around the edges
vibe.
Tiffany Mason (43:32):
I'd agree, that's
a great movie.
Jay Franze (43:34):
Megan, thank you for
taking that extra step and
giving us a reason.
Tiffany Mason (43:38):
Mm-hmm.
Jay Franze (43:39):
Kayla says, Need you
now, Lady A.
She does not say what movie.
Sorry.
I think somebody else alreadysaid this one, but Mark says,
Always on my mind, Willie Nelsonthe Mule.
Tiffany Mason (43:52):
Um, the Mule.
That was Tennessee Whiskey, sonew song.
Jay Franze (43:58):
No.
Um, Mule.
Tiffany Mason (44:02):
Yeah.
The other one was TennesseeWhiskey.
Jay Franze (44:05):
Yes, it was.

Jay Franze (46:31):
Alright, Scott says.
I love his cut.
Scott says, whatever comes atthe end of the movie in the
credits.
Tiffany Mason (46:42):

Jay Franze (50:21):
Hunter says Amarillo
by morning, George Strait from
the movie Eight Seconds.

Jay Franze (50:28):
Now I did mention
George Strait's Heartland.
Tiffany Mason (50:32):
Yes.
Jay Franze (50:33):
I will admit I will
bow to Hunter and say Amarillo
by morning is the better choice.
Tiffany Mason (50:39):
Wow.
It's gonna take a long time tonarrow down.
So we could go rapid fire.
Jay Franze (50:45):
We don't have to
narrow it down.
We can just simply say Eye ofthe Tiger.
Go ahead, quick.
Two at a time.
Tiffany Mason (50:53):
Okay.
Don't take the girl, BohemianRhapsody.
Jay Franze (50:56):
Bohemian Rhapsody.

Purple rain.
Tiffany Mason (51:03):
Okay.
Jay Franze (51:04):

Tiffany Mason (52:23):
Wow, what?
Okay, Purple Rain or Jolene, which I looked it up and there
were a couple of movies, but theone I think most people know is
Dumplin.
Jay Franze (52:35):

Jay Franze (52:54):
Oh.
I'm gonna go with Jolene, butif we were gonna say like
something that's like themesong, oh, it would have to be
that one.
Good old boys.
But go ahead, Jolene.
Tiffany Mason (53:07):
Okay, we're not
saying that.
I know.
Okay, okay.
Jolene or you literally wrotedown every one of them.
Yeah.
My love will go on fromTitanic.
Jay Franze (53:17):
Oh, that's a good
one.
Jolene.
Tiffany Mason (53:20):
Okay.
I think we're down to I didthis to you on purpose.
Jay Franze (53:26):
Eye of the Tiger.
Tiffany Mason (53:28):
Jolene or I will

Jay Franze (53:30):
Oh, I will always
love you.
And you know what?
I don't feel bad about itbecause they're both Dolly Part.
Tiffany Mason (53:39):
Yeah, yeah.
So I don't feel bad.
She's her own competition.
Uh Eye of the Tiger or I WillAlways Love You.
Damn.
Jay Franze (53:48):
I prefer Eye of the
Tiger, but I will say I will
always love you is the betterchoice.
Tiffany Mason (53:55):
So Whitney's our
winner?
Jay Franze (53:57):
Dolly is our winner.
Tiffany Mason (53:59):
Oh, oh, right,
right, right.
Okay.
Okay.
Jay Franze (54:02):
You can call it
Whitney, but I'm gonna call it
Dolly.
Tiffany Mason (54:05):
Okay.
Okay.
Tomato tomato.
I get it.
Okay.
Let's start with number 10.
Jay Franze (54:13):
Let's do that.
That sounds like a great idea.
Tiffany Mason (54:15):
Jackson Dean with
Heavens to Betsy.
Jay Franze (54:18):
Oh, that's new to
our charts, isn't it?
Tiffany Mason (54:21):
No, I think he
was 10 last week.
If it was new, it would saydebut.
Jay Franze (54:25):
Oh Monjee.
Sorry.
Tiffany Mason (54:27):
I'll tell you how
the charts work.
Jay Franze (54:29):
Yes, please tell me.
Heavens is plural.
Tiffany Mason (54:35):
Yes, yes.
See, you remember.
I thought it was.
Yes.
Jay Franze (54:39):
You're correct.
You're you're right.
Let's oh that needs to be a newbutton.
Tiffany Mason (54:45):

is when people say you're right.
Jay Franze (54:49):
Whoa.
Sorry, Sean.
Tiffany Mason (54:52):
Yeah.
Oh, he knows.
He knows.
Okay.
Number nine is John Pardy withFriday Night Heartbreaker.

Jackson Dean with Heaven's de
Betsy stayed at number 10.
John Pardy with Friday NightHeartbreaker stayed at number

(55:31):
And okay, now I have not heardthis song.
You told me, oh, you'vedefinitely heard it, blah, blah,
blah.
No, I had not heard it, but Ido like it.
And I'm gonna tell the crew ifyou go listen to it, I listen to
it off of the Jay Ferenzi showplaylist off of Spotify.
But I like what in thebeginning when he says, and if
(55:51):
he's just a friend, then tell mewhy he's always calling.
He likes marches down thechords.
Notes.
The notes.
Um, he's marching down them, and I really like it.
So go check that out, and it'sfun to sing along.
Jay Franze (56:07):

agree the fact that it's country
club?
Tiffany Mason (56:10):
Oh, a thousand
percent.
Yes, yes, yeah, no doubt aboutit.
Yeah, okay.
Number seven is Luke Combs Backin the Saddle.
And we've already a milliontimes said how much we love it.
Jay Franze (56:24):
We like those anthem

Big fan.
And holding steady still,Morgan Wallen, spot number six,
I got better.
Now, somebody that we havetalked a little bit about is
Shabuzi, and he went from spotfour, he slid down to spot five.
No, it's not good news, but hissong is good news.
(56:50):
Spot number four, which wasfive.
So Mr.
Jordan Davis with the song BarNone, Bar, comma, none.
Jay Franze (57:00):
Yep.
Clever song, definitely aclever song.
Tiffany Mason (57:03):
Clever song, very
clever.
And now we're on number twowith oh jelly roll, heart of
stone.
Nice.
Still not my favorite from him.
It's fine.
I like it.
I get why it's at number two,and it's jelly roll.
I mean, I get it, but you know,he's disappearing, hey.
(57:24):
He's losing a lot of weight.
Jay Franze (57:25):
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Tiffany Mason (57:26):
Yeah.
I didn't even recognize him ina picture recently, and I was
like, oh, wait.
Jay Franze (57:31):
He's wearing the
same clothes and they they fit
him like a bed sheet.
Tiffany Mason (57:35):
Yeah, I know.
Time for Bunny to go get himsome new clothes.
Or go shopping with him.
And spot number one.
Good old Russ.
With happened to me.
All right, let's see what'sshaking over on the indie
(57:57):
charts.
Jay Franze (57:57):
Yes, please.
Tiffany Mason (57:58):
Okay, so number

Wayland Hannel.
And we've got spot number nineis Miss You More by Hunter
Clark.
Numero Ocho.
Numero Louisiana in the broaddaylight.
Jay Franze (58:15):

Band.
Tiffany Mason (58:17):
Oh, I was gonna
say, yeah.
Number seven, You Were There byThompson Square.
Jay Franze (58:25):
Kills me every
single time.
It's dropped a couple spots, somaybe it'll be gone soon.
We won't have to hear that oneanymore.
I don't know.
Tiffany Mason (58:34):
I'm just gonna be
gone soon.
Jay Franze (58:35):
Nothing against you,
Thompson Square, but anyway.
Tiffany Mason (58:37):
It's lit two
spots, so maybe it's on its way
out.
Okay, number six from number11.
So this one made a jump.
Don't let the gray hair foolyou by Dew West.
Yes.
And we got Dwight Yoakum andPost Malone hanging in there at
spot number five with I don'tknow how to say goodbye.
Boom, boom, bang, bang.
Jay Franze (58:58):
Before you move on
from number six, there don't let
the gray hair fool you.
Tiffany Mason (59:01):
Yeah.
Jay Franze (59:02):
My wife sent me a
meme or something about that
today, saying what women do tomen, and it's a gray hair.
She goes, think of me asPicasso for your face.
Tiffany Mason (59:16):
I met my husband
when he was 22, and by the time
he was 24, he was mostly bald ontop.
And I'm like, babe, I did thatto you.
I'm like, there's not even adoubt in my mind.
I don't, we don't even have toresearch it, nothing.
I'll take full blame.
I know it was me.
Jay Franze (59:32):
I didn't go bald
till I was like 45.
Tiffany Mason (59:35):
Oh Mr.
Mason, it all fell out at 24.
That's that's early.
Yeah.
Jay Franze (59:41):
I have a friend of
mine that I went to high school
with went gray before we lefthigh school.
Tiffany Mason (59:46):
It's crazy.
I know a couple people thatwent gray before high school
too, before we graduated.
It's crazy.
It's a lot of money to investto color that hair.
Ah, believe it.
Okay, this one I'm reallyexcited about.
So because The playlist isthere on the Jay Franzi show on
the website.
I was like, I'm gonna pull thisup and I want to see what some
(01:00:07):
of these songs sound like.
This is a great song.
It's talking about this chick, she's super fun, and she turns
the night on.
Like wherever she is, there'salways a party.
And I mean, I kind of thoughtof myself.
So that's spot number four byChris Kizia.
Jay Franze (01:00:23):
Kizia.
You got it.
Tiffany Mason (01:00:25):
Kizia.
Jay Franze (01:00:27):
Look at you.
And uh hey, look at you alsolistening to the songs that
you're reporting on.
That's awesome.
Tiffany Mason (01:00:35):
Well, I want to
hear what they sound like.
Why are they climbing thecharts?
What's the big deal?
I like it.
Spot number three is CountryBoy by Randy Cobb.
Spot number two is Red by JetJugensmeyer.
Jergensmeyer.
This is another song that I'm abig fan of.
Damn.
Oh, let's do it again.
Everybody, we're rewinding.
(01:00:57):
Okay.
And number two, Red by JetJergensmeyer.
Okay, this song I like becausemy favorite Aerosmith song is
pink.
And so he goes through and he'slike, pink, the love you
(01:01:18):
discover, pink.
And he's talking about thethings that are pink.
And in this song, he's talkingabout all the things that are
red, like her cheeks, her lips, blood, and I don't know, some
other stuff.
But I was like, oh, this islike my Aerosmith song.
So I like it.
Look at you.
Look what happens when youlisten to songs.
I know.
And spot number one.
Jay Franze (01:01:39):
Oh go ahead.
Tiffany Mason (01:01:41):
Oh, I think I
have to say it first.
Yeah.
Okay.
Okay.
Spot number one is Hide and GoCheat by Eric B.
Jay Franze (01:01:50):
Alright, it's enough
of that.
You only get half of it.
Tiffany Mason (01:01:52):
And this song I
do not like.
I do not want to listen to asong about someone going and
cheating.
So I do not like it.
Jay Franze (01:01:58):
Tell your mother
we've had enough of that song.
Sorry.
First of all, before we move onto the mailbag, Miss Tiffany
mentioned the playlist.
If you go to jfranzi.com slashcountdown, or as Miss Tiffany
would like to say, the menu, goto the drop down, not pull down.
(01:02:18):
She takes offense if you pullit down.
Tiffany Mason (01:02:21):
From the heading
episodes.
Jay Franze (01:02:23):
Yeah, she's going to
be very specific now, but
either way, it's in the menu, oryou can just go straight to
jfranzy.com slash countdown.
Tiffany Mason (01:02:31):
It was really
convenient.
And I like that it let me checkout some of the artists that
we've had on the show.
I don't have time to go onInstagram and scroll and find
all these people and listen toall their albums.
But that really makes it aneasy way to check out all these
songs.
I love it.
Jay Franze (01:02:46):
The reason we did
that is because we are not
allowed to play songs on here.
So because of that, we wantedto give you a place that you
could hear them.
So we will also include anysongs that we review or anything
else that we do.
We'll always put those in theplaylist.
All right.
Moving on to the mailbag.
If you would like toparticipate in the mailbag
(01:03:08):
portion of our show, you can goto jFrenzy.com/slash mailbag, or
you can use the menu system andyou can go ahead and send us a
message.
All right.
Amanda says, This show is mygo-to every week.
It makes me feel like I'mhanging out with a friend.
You know, those friends wholike to shoot the shot the show
(01:03:32):
about music.
There you go.
All right, I like that.
Laurie says, Jay, your Bostonsense of dry humor is awesome
and underrated.
Megan says, Tiffany balancesthe show perfectly.
Tiffany Mason (01:03:50):
Oh they see me
for who I am.
Jay Franze (01:03:55):
Last Thursday.
I got to see all of you.
Tiffany Mason (01:03:59):
It was Stopless
Thursday.
What was I supposed to do?
Jay Franze (01:04:02):
Olivia says country
radio needs to stop cycling the
same artists.
There's way too much talent outthere to ignore.
Tiffany Mason (01:04:10):
Agreed.
Jay Franze (01:04:11):
Jason says the sound
quality alone puts you guys
ahead of 90% of the radio shows, let alone the podcast, clean,
clear, and pro.
Thank you.
You can give all the credit toMiss Tiffany at virtually you.
Tiffany Mason (01:04:23):
It's not true.
Jay does it.
Jay Franze (01:04:27):
Brian says, Jay, you
have an ass load of experience.
So please, more industrystories.
Okay.
Tiffany Mason (01:04:37):
35 years is an
ass load.
Jay Franze (01:04:39):
Is an ass load?
Is that what it is?
We've quantified ass load.
Carlos says Tiffany's laughsteals the show.
Tina.
Have we talked with Tinabefore?
Tiffany Mason (01:04:51):
I don't think so.
I would probably recommend orremember, whatever that word is.
I would remember because thetwo names that people mistake me
for the most is Tina or Tracy.
So I don't think so.
Yeah, yeah.
A lot of people do.
Jay Franze (01:05:10):
Maybe we'll start
calling you Tracy.
Tiffany Mason (01:05:13):
Let's not.
Jay Franze (01:05:14):
Tina says AI will
never replace songwriters.
Music with hard heart is justnoise.
Tiffany Mason (01:05:20):
I like it.
Jay Franze (01:05:22):
Okay.
Tiffany Mason (01:05:23):
Well, also, like,
AI cannot go through the things
that people go through ashumans.
You know.
Jay Franze (01:05:29):
I agree.
They have no experience.
Tiffany Mason (01:05:31):
They have no
experience.
Jay Franze (01:05:34):
Moving on to
Samantha.
Samantha says, I love how thisshow balances big name guests
with indie artists.
Everybody gets a fair shot.
Tiffany Mason (01:05:42):
That's a huge
compliment.
I love that.
Jay Franze (01:05:45):
Yeah.
I like that.
Renee wrote a book.
Tiffany Mason (01:05:50):
That's okay.
Women say more words than men,Jay.
Jay Franze (01:05:54):
Yes.
Jay, you aren't afraid to askuncomfortable questions.
You've got a way of gettingguests to say things they
wouldn't normally share anywhereelse.
Like the way Stephanie Rabustalked about her abuse, or Terry
McBride talked about his smallpenis.
Now to be fair, Terry McBridetalked about a moment in the
(01:06:14):
hospital where he was afraidshowing the nurse his penis at a
vulnerable time would make itappear small.
We don't know if he truly has asmall penis.
Tiffany Mason (01:06:27):
My dad always
said it's not about the tool,
it's about how you use it.
Jay Franze (01:06:33):
Anyways, I think
that's a nice compliment.
Thank you.
Sean could be your husband.
Tiffany Mason (01:06:38):
Probably not, but
it could be.
Jay Franze (01:06:40):
Could be.
It says, Jay, thank you forasking Tiffany to join the show.
Could be your husband.
Tiffany Mason (01:06:46):
Oh my gosh.
Jay Franze (01:06:47):
Says, I like having
the free time to spend watching
TV and doing whatever I wantwhen she's not around.
Tiffany Mason (01:06:53):
No, it does not
say that.
Jay Franze (01:06:55):
No, it does not.
It says Jay, thank you forasking Tiffany to join the show.
Her energy brightens up everyepisode.
Tiffany Mason (01:07:02):
Ah.
Jay Franze (01:07:04):
Ethan.
The industry leans too heavilyon TikTok trends.
Good music should last longerthan 15 seconds.
Tiffany Mason (01:07:14):
True.
Jay Franze (01:07:15):
Ethan, we're gonna
end on that one, buddy.
Because that is a good one.
Tiffany Mason (01:07:20):
Mm-hmm.
Jay Franze (01:07:23):
What is going on
with you this week?
Tiffany Mason (01:07:26):
Well, what went
on with me last night, last
night, must have had a goodtime.
Okay, I went to go see JohnnyJames.
Johnny James.
That was a little, yes, thatwas a little spiff off of Trey
Callaway's song.
But um, he was in town.
He took his son to the Jags andKansas City game.
And guess who won?
(01:07:46):
Whoop whoop doo.
Okay, so, and it was TrevorLawrence's birthday, so that was
a good thing.
Jay Franze (01:07:53):
And then I So you're
making his kid feel sad.
Tiffany Mason (01:07:57):
Why?
Oh, yes.
Yes, because his kid wascheering for the Chiefs, yeah.
Jay Franze (01:08:02):
And you're happy
about that.
Tiffany Mason (01:08:04):
Hard hard knocks
of life, kid.
You gotta figure it outsometime.
Jay Franze (01:08:07):
Wow.
Tiffany Mason (01:08:10):
You gotta learn
how to be a fan in the good
times and the bad times, butthat does bring the jags to four
and one.
Whoop, whoop! Okay, but I gotto see Johnny James.
I was very excited about it.
He played an acoustic set, hedid do a few covers and they
were fantastic.
He did a cover of Fast Car, itwas so good.
It was definitely better thanLuke Combs.
(01:08:32):
Luke Combs was good, but Ithink it was better than Luke
Combs, honestly.
Nice, but nobody will ever beatTracy Chapman.
No.
Sorry.
That's just I'm with you.
Yeah.
And then um he sang a couple ofsongs that are not released yet
that I'm excited for.
Oh my gosh, there were two thatwere really good.
And then um, I was looking uphis music before I went.
(01:08:56):
He's got a good song I wouldwant you guys to check out
called Ruby Red Lips.
And then he was telling usabout Heartbeats to the radio,
his hat that he wears at all ofhis performances.
And I guess I just didn't makethe connection.
You know, we were talking abouta lot of things.
I know you guys are shocked Ididn't make a connection, but
it's the name of one of hissongs.
(01:09:16):
And he wrote it about his son,and it was really cute to hear
the backstory to it, but he wastalking about how like every
time a song comes on, this kidhas to move and this kid is
singing along, and that is me.
So I think my heart beats tothe radio.
You know how sometimes peoplesay, like, music is my love
language.
Well, I think my heart beats tothe radio for real.
(01:09:38):
I I love that song, so I'mexcited about that.
And then I got to try the smokewhiskey.
It was actually very smooth, there was no burn with it, and
it had a nice cinnamon finish toit.
And I've been on this weirdcinnamon tea kick.
And I think, you know, if I hadto put a little nipper in my
tea, I might throw a littlesmoke in there.
(01:10:00):
So it was an overall reallygreat night.
His dad was there.
So he went to school in OrangePark and he was performing in
Orange Park.
And two of the people from thefront desk from the school that
he went to were there, as wellas one of his teachers.
And so I can't remember what wewere talking about, but he was
talking about writing music, andhe was like, I learned
(01:10:22):
everything I know from Mrs.
Parker.
And then he was joking abouthow she wasn't gonna like the
next song that he sang.
And his dad was there and hismom was there, and it was just
really it was a nice, warm.
It's interesting to see wherepeople come from.
And it was a great, great groupof people, and it was a nice,
intimate little bar, and so Iloved all of it.
(01:10:43):
And Mr.
Mason joined me, which made myheart.
I know, I know, it was reallynice.
Jay Franze (01:10:50):
Johnny, as soon as I
get the bottle, then maybe we
can talk about some sort ofpartnership here, and we can you
know maybe promote your stuff alittle bit.
But until then, until we getthat bottle, no.
Tiffany Mason (01:11:04):
Sorry.
Well, maybe we can get apicture of me with the smoke
bottle up on our insta.
Jay Franze (01:11:09):
No.
Tiffany Mason (01:11:10):
Oh, oh, dang,
Johnny.
You better get whoa, come on,Johnny.
Oh, come on, Johnny.
Jay Franze (01:11:18):
Quicker we get this
done, quicker we can work
something out.
Just say not a sponsor, butcould be.
We can be like his his band, and we can each take a shot
right before the show.
Yes.
Tiffany Mason (01:11:33):
You think we
deliver the news well now?
Wait to see what happens then.
Do it with a little smoke.
All right, sorry, go ahead.
That's okay.
And then uh there's a newepisode coming out tomorrow with
James Campion, and he wrote abook called Revolution, Prince,
the Band, the Era.
(01:11:53):
Speaking of Prince, I we weretalking about earlier, and it is
about the album Purple Rain.
And we specifically talkedabout the song When Doves Cry.
And it was a great interview, super knowledgeable.
I'm really excited.
I want to pick up a couple ofhis other books.
He has one about the guy whowrote, I knew I was gonna
forget.
Shoot, listen to the interview.
(01:12:14):
He has some really cool ones.
One about Kiss, one about theBeatles, and one about oh, the
guy who sang Werewolves ofLondon, or who wrote Werewolves
of London.
So I'm excited to check thoseout.
I may have already ordered thisbook, so very excited about it.
Good interview.
(01:12:36):
What do you have going on thisweek?
Jay Franze (01:12:39):
Nothing.
Tiffany Mason (01:12:40):
Nothing.
Okay, folks.
Have a good night.
Jay Franze (01:12:43):
And it's over.
Now this week we talk aboutJohnny James.
His episode released this pastMonday.
So it is currently out therefor everybody to go listen to
and everybody enjoy.
Johnny James is awesome, andlike we did mention, he does
also have his own whiskey line.
So check that out.
It's called Smoke.
We will go ahead and promote iteven heavier if we can get a
(01:13:04):
bottle of that that we can startsharing here on the show.
Tiffany Mason (01:13:08):
Well, we need
two, one for Florida, one for it
out.
Jay Franze (01:13:12):
Yeah.
Come on, John.
Just saying.
And then today, today wereleased another episode of Top
Women in Country and also thefirst artist that you've ever
connected with.
And then as far as this weekfor me, what I would like to do
is head out to Laurie'sRoadhouse.
They have a few good bandscoming up.
But I think this weekend isDiamond Rio.
Tiffany Mason (01:13:34):
Oh, nice.
Jay Franze (01:13:35):
So that would be a
good one to see.
Tiffany Mason (01:13:36):
Yeah.
Jay Franze (01:13:37):
I remember in
Nashville, I didn't get a chance
to work on it, but they werefilming one of their videos at
this house that I used to driveby on my way home all the time.
So I've just had thatconnection to them for that
reason.
Every time I think of them, Ithink of that house.
But I would like to go seethem.
And then Sammy Kershaw iscoming as well.
Tiffany Mason (01:13:57):
Oh wow.
Okay, cool.
Jay Franze (01:13:58):
So there's a few a
few good things coming up in the
upcoming weeks.
But you can check all that outat Laurie's Roadhouse.
Not a not a sponsor, but couldbe.
I go there enough.
Tiffany Mason (01:14:10):
Now you do for
sure.
Jay Franze (01:14:11):
Well, I just can't
help it.
All the artists that we talk toend up performing there at some
point.
So I go see them, and I willtell you, while they are not a
sponsor, it is probably myfavorite venue to go to.
I would prefer to see a showthere over any other place
around.
It's really good.
Really good.
And like when I got to seeJohnny James there a couple
(01:14:33):
weeks ago, so he's on the roadif you want to catch him.
He was here, he was in Florida, who knows where he'll be next.
But when I had a chance to seehim, I had seats right up close
with with my little Lucy, and itwas just great.
I mean, we get to got to see agreat show.
Tiffany Mason (01:14:50):
Yeah.
Jay Franze (01:14:50):
So got to see the
band jump just recently over
there.
A lot of the people who've beenon the show have performed over
at Laurie's Roadhouse.
Tiffany Mason (01:14:58):
The comedian did
not perform there though, right?
Jay Franze (01:15:01):
Which comedian are
you talking about?
Tiffany Mason (01:15:03):
Uh Big Big Joe.
Jay Franze (01:15:04):
Oh, Big J.
Big J Oakerson.
He performed at um The FunnyBone.
The Funny Bone in Westchester.
Tiffany Mason (01:15:13):
Yes.
Jay Franze (01:15:14):
Which was awesome.
That's also a great venue.
For for comedy, that's a greatvenue.
It's three stories, kind offorms this little U.
All looks down at the stage, and and I can't stress it
enough.
If you've never seen him andyou don't mind the little rough
around the edge of humor, he isawesome.
So with that said, would youlike to crash this thing?
Tiffany Mason (01:15:36):
Let's crash it,
Jay.
Put your life preserver on.
Get the fire extinguisherready.
Jay Franze (01:15:43):
All right, folks.
Well, we have done it.
We have reached the top of thehour, top of hour number two,
which does mean we have reachedthe end of the show.
If you enjoyed the show, pleasetell a friend, Miss Tiffany.
If you have not, tell two.
Tell two, three, four, howevermany you got.
You got friends, tell them.
All right, Miss Tiffany.
I would like to leave the finalwords to you.
Tiffany Mason (01:16:06):
Okay.
Well, crew members, the mic isgoing off for now, but the music
never stops.
