The lines between success and snubs blur in our deep dive into the 2025 CMA Award nominations. Morgan Wallen simultaneously celebrates three wins while feeling overlooked in other categories, perfectly capturing the industry's complex relationship with commercial success. Miranda Lambert makes a triumphant return with her first album in five years, while Jelly Roll and Post Malone find themselves surprisingly excluded from major categories despite their massive impact on the genre.

We explore Nashville's reputation as "the 10-year town," where overnight success is rarely the reality. Jay shares a compelling story about an intern who painted his way to opportunity, demonstrating how persistence and initiative often matter more than talent alone in this industry. The conversation resonates with anyone pursuing creative dreams against long odds.

Our Question of the Day sparks passionate debate as listeners share the songs they believe tell the best stories. From Harry Chapin's heartbreaking "Cat's in the Cradle" to Billy Joel's narrative masterpiece "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant," we rank the ultimate storytelling songs with help from our engaged audience. The discussion reveals how deeply these musical narratives connect with listeners across generations.

The show rounds out with fascinating country music developments – Dolly Parton and Zac Brown's collaboration, Jason Aldean's candid reflections on post-Vegas trauma, and the MTV VMAs finally recognizing country music after 40 years. Our weekly chart countdown highlights both mainstream hits and indie gems worth discovering.

Whether you're a dedicated country music fan or simply appreciate authentic industry insights, this episode delivers entertaining conversation, thoughtful analysis, and a reminder of music's power to tell our most meaningful stories. Join the conversation at jayfranze.com and share your own perspectives on what makes a song truly unforgettable.

the question of the day.

(01:17):
The question of the day whatsong tells the best story?
What song tells the best story?
Do not give me your answer now.
Wait till a little later in theshow and we will review it then
.
So if you would like yourthoughts to be discussed, please
put your thoughts in thecomments and we will bring those

(01:38):

But there is an article I foundthat I would like us to review.
Okay, I'm in 2025 CMA Awardnominations.

Tiffany Mason (01:50):
Ooh, I'm ready to throw some shade.

Jay Franze (01:52):
Biggest snubs and surprises.

Tiffany Mason (01:55):
Ooh, I can't wait .
This feels like it's going tobe a juicy one.

Jay Franze (02:00):
I like the title, so I chose it, but I have not read
it.

Tiffany Mason (02:03):
I like to be as surprised as you are.

Jay Franze (02:06):
2025 CMA Award nominations biggest snubs and
surprises.
First one is a surprise.
I hope you're surprised.

Tiffany Mason (02:18):
I'm already surprised.

Jay Franze (02:19):
It is Morgan Wallen.

Tiffany Mason (02:21):
Oh, I am very surprised.

Jay Franze (02:25):
Because Morgan Wallen has signaled that awards
don't matter to him, but yet hestill won three CMA awards,
surprise.

Tiffany Mason (02:39):
You're winning, whether you want to or not.

Jay Franze (02:41):
Well, you know, hey, that's not bad.
I guess I can go with that one.

Tiffany Mason (02:45):
You know I'm sure that this crossed your mind,
but it did not cross my mind.
Somebody was talking about howmany songs go on a record.
It's like what?
10 to 13 or something right?
Does that feel fair?
That's fair okay, and thenmorgan wallen comes out with
this 36 song album and I waslike, oh yeah, because when we

(03:10):
got it it was three vinylrecords.

Jay Franze (03:12):
So that's not an album.
No, that's a box set.

Tiffany Mason (03:18):
Right, you released a box set.
I think you thought it was analbum, but it's a box set.

Jay Franze (03:23):
They were limited to time, time and space.

Tiffany Mason (03:26):
Same thing, with.

Jay Franze (03:27):
CDs.
So everything was limited bythe amount of content you could
put on the physical medium.

Tiffany Mason (03:37):
And it averaged out to about 12 songs I always
like 10.

Jay Franze (03:39):
I thought 10 was a good number to have on a cd.

Tiffany Mason (03:41):
If I was a good number to have on an ep, 10 was
a good number to have on a cd orfull cd so there you go because
somebody was saying about howmany hits he's got off of there
and they're like well, yeah, ifyou're releasing that many songs
, of course.

Jay Franze (03:56):
One of them is bound to be a hit Right.
No, I mean his songs are good.

Tiffany Mason (04:02):
Yeah.

Jay Franze (04:04):
Next one is also a surprise.

Tiffany Mason (04:06):
Ooh, I can't wait .

Jay Franze (04:08):
Miranda Lambert.
We're never sad to see MirandaLambert among the CMA nominees.
Her Postcards from Texas albumis her first album in over five
years.
It looks like it has paid offSurprise.

Tiffany Mason (04:23):
Is she one of our artists that's no longer with a
label?

Jay Franze (04:26):
I don't think she's with a major label any longer.
I think she's been off a majorlabel for some time now.

Tiffany Mason (04:33):
Good.

Jay Franze (04:35):
All right, our first snub.

Tiffany Mason (04:38):
Uh-oh.

Jay Franze (04:39):
Are you ready, who?

Tiffany Mason (04:39):
did it.
Who done it?

Jay Franze (04:41):
Morgan Wallen.
Yep, morgan Wallen is a snub aswell as a surprise.
Country music's most streamedartist is also a radio favorite
with four number one songs Allright, going with another snub,
okay, okay low cash oh numberone hit should earn you a

(05:07):
nomination.
So apparently he had a vocalduo that earned a number one hit
, so therefore he be nominated, and I'm guessing he wasn't and
he feels snubbed.
And therefore a little bit of asnub.

Tiffany Mason (05:21):
Mm-hmm.
Does it say what the song was?

Jay Franze (05:23):
Hometown Home.

Tiffany Mason (05:26):
Oh, that's a good one.

Jay Franze (05:28):
Went to number one we can make this hometown home.
Must have been really good.
Huh, yes, it's a good song.
We have a surprise folks.
Zach Topp, you know Zach Topp.

Tiffany Mason (05:41):
Yeah.

Jay Franze (05:42):
You know he was going to be nominated here at
the CMA nominations.

Tiffany Mason (05:47):
Yeah.

Jay Franze (05:47):
Fans in the industry .
Both love him.
He has delivered in every way,so if that's the case, is it
really a surprise?

Tiffany Mason (05:55):
No, no, I'm not surprised way.
So if that's the case, is itreally a surprise?

Jay Franze (05:58):
no, no, maybe it's a surprise, because he went with
the old school 90s style yeahsurprise.
No, I can't use the wordsurprise because that's part of
our category.
Um, get ready for this one.
It's not quite prepared to beshocked.
I'll work on it.

Tiffany Mason (06:18):
This one is a snub uh-oh post malone he got
snubbed or he is snubbing.

Jay Franze (06:27):
Let's find out, okay it's strange how everyone has
clamored to add post malone totheir collaboration list.
Everyone has clamored to addPost Malone to their
collaboration list.
No kidding, because he bringsattention to everybody he works
with.
Yet he was not recognized.

Tiffany Mason (06:53):
He was not recognized in a meaningful way.
Oh okay, I was listening to aninterview with teddy swims.
I did not realize that he hasface tats.
And then we have jelly rollwith face tats and we got post
malone with face tats and I amsaying face scared sounds so
wrong coming out of you uh, itis is scaring me that it's maybe

(07:18):
becoming a trend.
I don't want it to become atrend.

Jay Franze (07:20):
I think it's too late.

Tiffany Mason (07:22):
Really you think young kids are already starting
to tap their faces?

Jay Franze (07:25):
Oh, hell yeah.

Tiffany Mason (07:27):
Oh no.

Jay Franze (07:28):
Oh yeah, no, I see a lot of it.

Tiffany Mason (07:30):
A lot.
Oh Well, get ready for that andthe family photos.

Jay Franze (07:37):
Alright.
Next one is a surprise, stephenWilson Jr.
Should I hold?

Tiffany Mason (07:42):
on to my chair.

Jay Franze (07:44):
Stephen Wilson Jr.

Tiffany Mason (07:47):
I do not know his name.

Jay Franze (07:48):
Stephen Wilson Jr has offered duets with Hayley
Witters, hardy and DierksBentley, but not much of a solo
career.

Tiffany Mason (08:00):
I'm going to disclose some information that I
feel like I should not, but I'mgoing to air my dirty laundry.

Jay Franze (08:07):
Uh-oh.

Tiffany Mason (08:07):
This guy Hardy.

Jay Franze (08:09):
Hardy.

Tiffany Mason (08:11):
That's the problem.
I thought that everybody wasjust taking john party's name
and, like you know, shorteningit how is this airing your dirty
laundry?
Because it's like kind of adumb blonde thing, you know I
would think of it more of that.

Jay Franze (08:29):
This is a dumb blonde moment well, yes, so
whatever.

Tiffany Mason (08:34):
However, however, you want to deem my admission
Go ahead Continue.
So for the crew members outthere that did not know, hardy
is different than party For thecrew members out there that did
not know Tiffany's a blonde.
I was telling somebody theother day.

(08:55):
I'm like you would think it wasnatural, but no, I pay for it.

Jay Franze (09:04):
Next one is a snub.

Tiffany Mason (09:06):
Okay.

Jay Franze (09:07):
Parmalee.

Tiffany Mason (09:08):
Ooh.

Jay Franze (09:09):
Here we go again, waving the flag for Parmalee,
country music's leastappreciated group.

Tiffany Mason (09:15):
Okay, so therefore sn group.

Jay Franze (09:17):
Okay, so therefore snub.

Tiffany Mason (09:20):
Okay, snub, you're snubbed.
Because we say you're snubbed.

Jay Franze (09:25):
The next one is also a snub.

Tiffany Mason (09:28):
Oh no.

Jay Franze (09:30):
It is jelly roll.
Uh-oh, uh-oh, I don't wantanybody snubbing jelly roll who
pissed in jelly Roll's Cheerios.
After getting three nominationsin 2024, including Entertainer
of the Year, he's been shut outof the major categories in 2025.

Tiffany Mason (09:54):
Oh Well, it sounds like the nominee
committee are the people whopeed in his.
Cheerios.
Yeah, I think it's very obviouswho pissed in his Cheerios Nice
.

Jay Franze (10:05):
All right, well, sorry, jelly.

Tiffany Mason (10:09):
Well, dolly Parton and Zac Brown joined
forces on the new duet Butterfly, out on September 5th not an
upcoming date.
That is when it came out in thepast, on September 5th,
alongside a music video, dollypersonally picked the song,

(10:31):
calling it the one that gave Zacchills when she nailed it.
Their December residencies inVegas even spark hopes for a
live duet.
Surprise, I did not realizethat Dolly had a residency in
Vegas right now.

Jay Franze (10:41):
Yeah, that's exciting.
Yes, it is.
It's very cool.
When she finished singing thatsong, she went up to him and
says I think you have a hit onyour hands.
Ah, cool, it's pretty cool thatshe would say that.
Yeah, I know we talk aboutDolly and her success all the
time, but Zac say that though.
Yeah, I know we talk about dollyand her success all the time,
but zach brown, they startedlike everybody else they started

(11:02):
early and they started in a vanand they were playing 200 shows
a year oh, my driving in a van,so you got to give them props
for, for doing it and making itfor sure wow.

Tiffany Mason (11:14):
well, I told you I was listening to a podcast
today and they were interviewingLeanne Morgan.
She's a comedian and somebodywent to go reference and stopped
themselves saying somethingabout overnight success.
And they said we all know thatnobody gets overnight success.
And they said how long have youbeen doing standup?
And she said she's been doingit for 25 years, so you grind a
lot before you make it.

Jay Franze (11:36):
Yeah, nashville has that nickname of being the
10-year town.

Tiffany Mason (11:40):
Oh yeah.

Jay Franze (11:41):
So you don't get any form of success at all for the
first 10 years.

Tiffany Mason (11:45):
God, that's so long.
That's so long.
I remember thinking about thatwhen we were talking to Billie
Jo Jones and she said that she'dbeen performing for over 10
years and I thought the samething, like, oh, it's so long.
Like you know, you got to keepreminding yourself.
It's the game of consistencyjust keep showing up, keep being

(12:06):
there, keep paving or poundingthe streets and knocking on the
doors and shaking the hands and,oh my gosh, how exhausting only
to, like you know, I mean ahandful of people actually get
to the big stage.

Jay Franze (12:16):
I mean you have to outside the box and come up with
different ways of making it,because you can say, okay, I'm
going to be a waiter and I'mjust going to work as a waiter
until I make it.
Or you can find some other way, like you can go work for a
publishing company and work at adesk.
You can work in a studio as anintern.
You can find all these otherways to work and make your money

(12:39):
while you're trying to promoteyour craft, because that way at
least you can network and meetthe right people and get in the
right circles.

Tiffany Mason (12:46):
Now I told Preston the same thing when he
was wanting to do medical work.
I was like, don't go work atlike a restaurant, be a courier
for a blood supply company wherethey have to drive things back
and forth between the medicalfacilities or something.
I mean.
I think that's such solidadvice that at least be in the
industry and you don't know whoyou're going to bump into or
what conversation you're goingto have and you know right place

(13:09):
, right time.

Jay Franze (13:10):
I'm going to tell you the story about the intern
from my school.

Tiffany Mason (13:13):
No, Jay.
Do you have any stories aboutany of your interns?

Jay Franze (13:17):
I could give you a story.
Yes, I would love to do that.
Thank you for asking.

Tiffany Mason (13:19):
Okay, yeah.

Jay Franze (13:21):
When I was teaching at the college, we would send
our students out into the field.
We would find them internships.
So I had this one student whocame up to me and said I want an
internship.
I said, great, I'll make thearrangements for you.
And great, I'll make thearrangements for you.
And he says, no, I want one atthat studio.
And he pointed out the windowand there was a studio right
beneath the window and it'scalled Soundstage, which is one

(13:48):
of the biggest studios inNashville, and he said he wanted
to work over there.
So I said okay, and I made afew phone calls, got him the
internship.
The very next day he comes back.
I said, well, how was it hegoes.
I don't think I want to go backand I was like why what
happened?
And he's like, well, they didn'tdo anything, they just sat
there and played video games allday long.
So I was like, well, what didyou do?
He goes, I just sat there andwatched them play video games.
I said, well, before you giveup on it, we give you a laptop

(14:11):
and we give you a Pro Toolssystem as part of your tuition
here at the school.
Why don't you go sit at thefront desk with that laptop and
you're working and you can beediting a school project for all
I care, just edit something, work on it.
Yeah, and that way, when peoplecome in and out, they'll think
of you as an engineer, theywon't think of you as an intern.
And if the phone rings, answerit, and if he can help out in

(14:34):
another way, do it, so he saysokay and he comes back, he goes.
They're putting me on theovernight shift.
I'm not even going to seeanybody.
I said stick to the plan, Juststick to it.
Yes.

Tony Scott (14:46):
So he did.

Jay Franze (14:47):
And during the day they were repainting and
remodeling the studio.
So they were painting all thewalls and the painter got about
halfway down the wall and it was5 o'clock, so he went home for
the night and the intern decidedwell, you know, I'm here, I may
as well do something.
And he picked up the paintbrushand finished painting the wall.
When he was doing that, theowner of the studio which he did

(15:08):
not know who the owner of thestudio was walks by him.
Uh-huh uh-huh and just says, hi,have a good night.
And leaves.
He didn't think anything of it.
He left.
The next day the owner of thestudio comes in, says to the
manager of the studio hey, how'dyou get the painter to stay
here all night?
He goes what are you talkingabout?
The painter left before I did.
He goes the only person thatwas here overnight was the

(15:31):
intern.
The next day he goes in and hesays, hey, you're the intern,
right.
And he says yes, sir.
He says, well, hi, I'mso-and-so, I'm the owner of the
studio.
He goes did you stay here andpaint the wall last night?
He said, yes, sir.
He goes who asked you to dothat?
He goes oh, nobody.
He goes I just wanted to makesure I was being productive.

(15:52):
He says well, I'll tell youwhat.
Why don't you come by thestudio and let's go ahead and
get you some experience?
So he did, and he did well inthe studio that day and he
became that person's assistant.

Tiffany Mason (16:05):
Ah, I love it.

Jay Franze (16:06):
All from just putting in a little bit of
effort and trying to stand out.
So I tell that story whenever Ican.
I think it's an important one.

Tiffany Mason (16:13):
Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.

Jay Franze (16:15):
All right.

Tiffany Mason (16:15):
Sorry all right, sorry, we can move on to your
next news item please, jeepers, you took up all my airtime I
know I'm taking it all up.

Jay Franze (16:23):
All right, we're done, let's move on now.
What's next?

Tiffany Mason (16:27):
and that's it, folks.
Okay.
Mtv vmas goes country.
So first ever best countrycategory debuts.
So we knew this was coming andfor the first time in the 40
year run, there's a best countryaward featuring heavy hitters
like Chris Stapleton.
Speaking of Chris Stapleton, did you see him on Thursday

(16:50):
Night Football?

Jay Franze (16:51):
I did not.

Tiffany Mason (16:53):
Okay, so we see Chris Stapleton saying in the
air tonight, and then Snooprapped something that had to do
with Thursday Night Football.
It was such an amazingcollaboration.
It sounded so good and I thinkChris Stapleton is losing weight
.

Jay Franze (17:10):
I did not see it, but now I have to look it up.

Tiffany Mason (17:12):
You will have to, because it was probably.
I mean, it was right up therewith the Carrie Underwood Sunday
Night Football.
It was right up there, okay, chris Stapleton, lainey Wilson,
morgan Wallen, megan Maroney, jelly Roll, cody Johnson and
Carrie Underwood.
The show also includes countryperformances from Jelly Roll and
Post Malone.
Oh weird, our two Snubs, no,our two Shoot.

Jay Franze (17:39):
Face tats.

Tiffany Mason (17:40):
What is it?
What is it when people arefrequent offenders?

Jay Franze (17:45):
Repeat offenders.

Tiffany Mason (17:47):
Repeat offenders.
It's our repeat collaboratorsJelly Roll and Post Malone.

Jay Franze (17:53):
Long way for that one, Sorry folks.

Tiffany Mason (17:55):
Yes, yes, okay, and post-Mulan Long way for that
one, sorry folks.
Yes, yes, okay.
Jason Aldean he's opening upabout his post-Vegas breakdown.
I was excited not like excited.
I was fondly reminded of aninterview I did where a lady was
talking about this Jason Aldeanconcert.
Well, the song that she chosefor my podcast.

(18:17):
She remembers listening to thesong.
Gunshots were fired and thenyou know how they recovered from
that day.
So it was in a raw armchairexpert chat, which is the
podcast with Dax Shepard, and herevealed how the Route 91
tragedy in 2017 left him reelingwith survivor's guilt and he
didn't seek therapy.

(18:38):
Instead, he leaned in on lovedones and found purpose in
healing through music.
I think he's not the only onewho has found healing through
music.
That's a pretty common theme, and I will now share my feelings
about number five, which iscountry sweetheart.
Devin Dawson welcomes babynumber two Devin Dawson and his

(19:01):
wife, leah Sykes announced theyare expecting their second child
.
I don't like that.
It says in the headline thatthey welcomed their baby because
they did not, yet.
It is like who do you keepsaying has five kids?
Is it Thomas Rhett?

Jay Franze (19:17):
Yes.

Tiffany Mason (19:18):
Yes, and they are just pregnant with their fifth
child.

Jay Franze (19:21):
They didn't have a fifth child yet.
Well, she carries it aroundwith her every day.

Tiffany Mason (19:26):
She won't live home without it, not yet.
Eventually, devin's another one.
Oh my God, he was heavy metalbefore he went into country.

Jay Franze (19:35):
Oh's another one.
Oh my God, he was heavy metalbefore he went into country.

Tiffany Mason (19:40):
Oh, really, okay, yes, okay.
So they had a sweet familyphoto on the beach and it was
featuring his daughter, iris, and they could not hide their
joy.

Jay Franze (19:52):
We've got it hidden.
It's inside her belly.
What it should say is it cannotshow his joy, ew.

Tiffany Mason (20:03):
Here take a look, our next Off Color News topic
is going to be Nicole Kidman, proving she's a true country fan
.
During Keith Urban's opener inAustralia, she surprised the
opener, chase Matthew, bysprinting up behind the scenes
to high-five him.
He later admitted I did notrealize how big a star she was,

(20:25):
but the gesture proved hergenuine love for the game.

Jay Franze (20:29):
Okay, I was going to say she better be a country
music fan.

Tiffany Mason (20:33):
She better be Well, she should be.

Jay Franze (20:34):
I mean to be fair.
My wife's not really thebiggest fan of me and we're
married so.
Or the things I do.
I mean, let's hope she's a fanof me.
I don't know, maybe if you'relistening, chime in put it in
the chat, but Nicole Kidman, shewas as nice as can be, super,
super nice, friendly.
They were great people now grantthey pulled up in a bentley and

(20:56):
all that fun stuff blacked outbentley.
It was awesome, an awesomevehicle, but she's so super nice
and I don't know if you're, ifyou know, but she can actually
sing I do know that they sang asong together.

Tiffany Mason (21:12):
Oh, what the heck was it there was.
It was COVID.
There was a video that came outwhere the two of them were
singing oh.

Jay Franze (21:21):
Yep, that one.

Tiffany Mason (21:23):
Oh, the words are like on the tip of my tongue.

Jay Franze (21:26):
Did she sing on the Moulin Rouge soundtrack?

Tiffany Mason (21:29):
Yes, she did, she did.
Oh, now I have to find it.

Jay Franze (21:33):
I mean, I wouldn't go as far as saying like she's a
.

Tiffany Mason (21:36):
She's not a recording artist.

Jay Franze (21:37):
No, but she can sing .

Tiffany Mason (21:40):
Oh, what was that song?
Oh, I'm going to look it upstill, okay, I'm going to look
it up, but I'm going to focusfor everybody, Not so much for
you, jay, but for the crew.
So here comes the next bit ofnews y'all, y'all, y'all k
michelle, she's finally gettingher country album.
So I guess this is an albumshe's wanted ever since she was

(22:01):
a child and after years ofpushback in the studio, k
michelle is finally getting herlong overdue country album.

Jay Franze (22:09):
This feels I'm not gonna hold judgment.

Tiffany Mason (22:14):
I feel like she got a door opened by a very
famous Texas Hold'em singer.

Jay Franze (22:21):
I'm hoping it's not like that.
I'm going to hold judgment, though let's give her a chance.

Tiffany Mason (22:27):
Okay, I need drumroll.

Jay Franze (22:29):
Really.

Tiffany Mason (22:29):
I need drumroll.
The song they sang together wasthe Fighter I think I need a
thing too here.

Jay Franze (22:39):
Let me check.

Tiffany Mason (22:40):
Tiffany, you're fired.
Come on AI Trump.
Okay, and the last thing I'mgoing to report to you guys is
John Rich.

Jay Franze (22:54):
John.

Oh, I would take that suggestion with a lot of
weight, because he's probablyheard it a lot of times or he's
very aware of the music.

Jay Franze (35:15):
He is definitely a smart man.
When it comes to music, supertalented he doesn't get the
credit he deserves for thetalent he has.
I mean, he's known as a bassplayer.

Tiffany Mason (35:26):
I mean, I just gave him a lot of credit.

It is a Christian music song, aChristian song.
I thought it was going to belike this big traumatic story,
but more we dug into the lyricswhich you know, is my jam so I
was pretty pumped.
So we talked about lyrics todayand then my jam, so I was
pretty pumped, so we talkedabout lyrics today and then this
weekend.
I'm very excited.
Saturday night I'm going tothis thing called a boot, scoot

(59:30):
and bourbon.
There will be bourbon tastingsounds like a kentucky thing it
does sound like a kentucky thing, doesn't it?
it sounds like a uh, nashvillething.
I wish I was that gonna bethere.
I know bourbon because kentucky, but yeah boot scoots.

Jay Franze (59:43):
Because of Nashville Right, I got it Right, right
right.
It's like Nashville andKentucky had a kid.

Tiffany Mason (59:49):
And they came up with boot, scoot and bourbon.
I'm excited.
We're going to go out, we'regoing to watch a show.
So the first hour and a half isa show and you get to have all
kinds of barbecue and a littlebit of bourbon and then
afterwards line dancing.
So I'm very excited, I'm veryexcited.

Jay Franze (01:00:08):
I keep telling Lucy I'm going to take her line
dancing because Laurie'sRoadhouse has line dancing every
Tuesday night.
They do line dancing lessonsand Lucy's a big dancer, so I
figured that would be a goodthing to respond over that.

Tiffany Mason (01:00:23):
You would line dance Jay With Lucy, for sure no
, I used to be a good dancer.

Jay Franze (01:00:35):
Oh, my goodness, hidden talents.
I'm multi-talented.
I was able to slow dance andkeep both hands on.
Oh, no, whoa whoa whoa, whoawhoa anywho, I don't know if I
could handle dancing, but Iwould try it with lucy it's very
fun lucy, again my 11 year old,so she's got more energy than I

(01:00:56):
do, but I would give it a shotyeah, I think it'd be fun.

Tiffany Mason (01:01:00):
You should go a couple of nights without her,
like a couple of tuesdayswithout, and then all of a
sudden just be like, hey, youwant to go try it out, yeah and
then look like I know something.

Jay Franze (01:01:11):
Oh, that is a good idea.

Tiffany Mason (01:01:13):
I'm full of them.

Jay Franze (01:01:14):
Stick around me kid Every once in a while you come
up with one, I know All right.
Well, we did have a new episodeof our show here release today.
Yay, right, well, we did have anew episode of our show here
release today Yay.
That was what we went ahead andrecorded last week, which talks
about the 13 artists thatshould be playing at Taylor's
wedding.

Tiffany Mason (01:01:34):
Real earth shattering kind of stuff.

Jay Franze (01:01:37):
Yes, we shake the world with our stuff, and
speaking of my daughter Lucy, here's a good one.
Last week I took her to thefilming of a live podcast.

Tiffany Mason (01:01:49):
Okay.
The LOL podcast yes, I don'tknow if you've heard of this.

Jay Franze (01:01:53):
It's more for little kids, but it was fun.
I don't know if they trulyrecorded it.
It was more like a you know.
They sat down and chatted for afew minutes and then they just
started playing stupid gamesthrough the whole thing, but it
kept everybody involved andeverybody liked it.
I'm sure it's the sameconversation in the same stupid
games every place they go to, soI don't think it was recorded,

(01:02:17):
but it was obviously them liveand I got a good seat because I
know she really liked.

Tiffany Mason (01:02:22):
Yeah.

Jay Franze (01:02:22):
So, I got seats on the first level.
It was a theater, so it hadthree levels, and I got ours on
the first level, but it was inthe last row of the first level.
So it was good, it wasn't bad.

Tiffany Mason (01:02:36):
Wait, were the seats?
Were the seats like at a slope?

Jay Franze (01:02:39):
Yes, yes.

Tiffany Mason (01:02:39):
Okay.

Jay Franze (01:02:41):
Again, we were probably 20 feet from the stage,
uh-huh.
So it was not far, nope, andthey were throwing out t-shirts,
but because it was three levelswhenever they throw a t-shirt,
if they made it to our distanceit would get stopped by the
balcony.

Tiffany Mason (01:02:58):
Yes.

Jay Franze (01:03:01):
So we would not get the t-shirts.
And I told Lucy and her friendI took her friend with us.
I said why don't you guys godown there when they're throwing
stuff out?
They're too embarrassed.
No, we're not going down thereand all this stuff.
So they didn't want to do it.
Then they said can we stay hereat the end Because I heard
someone say they're going towalk up this aisle when they
leave.
I'm telling myself they're notwalking up the aisle when they
leave, they're backstage, they're not coming anywhere near

(01:03:22):
us.
So I was like we can stay here, that's fine.
So we're sitting there.
And I went to the restroom andwhile I was out there I went and
asked the lady if I could getsome VIP passes.
So she says, yeah, we got acouple left.
She goes, how many kids?
And I said, well, there's twoof them.
So she was very nice, very niceto me, and we worked out a deal

(01:03:46):
.
So Wow, we didn't hide, but wedidn't cheat and she gave me a
very good deal.
So thank you to the lady whogave me the good deal, so you
did hide and go cheat.
So like kind of.
I was out in the open, but wecheated the system and she was.
I think she was the mother ofone of the people that was on

(01:04:08):
stage.

Tiffany Mason (01:04:09):
Oh cool.

Jay Franze (01:04:10):
But she was very nice to me, so she gave me the
two tickets.
So I went back and I did nottell my kid, so I did not say
anything.
And I would think to myself howam I going to do this?

Tony Scott (01:04:20):
Yeah.

Jay Franze (01:04:22):
So I said all right, so at at the end.
They're all gathering up at thestage waiting for them to come
out.
So I told my daughter I saidlet's just go up front.
She, we can't, we don't havethe badges.
I said let's not worry aboutthat, let's just go up front.
I said, just act like you knowwhat you're doing.
Yeah, it'll be fine yeah she'slike I don't, I don't, I don't

(01:04:44):
want to do this, I don't want toget in trouble.
I'm like, just do it, let's go,come on.

Tiffany Mason (01:04:47):
Yeah.

Jay Franze (01:04:48):
I said just follow me.
I said if anything comes up,I'll just say, oh, I'm sorry, I
didn't know.
Yeah, so we go up there,Hundreds of people outside
waiting, oh, and security'scoming down checking badges and
stuff, and she's panicking.
She's like let's, let's get outof here, and I'm like no no,

(01:05:11):
don't worry about it Just stayhere and she's like freaking out
because security's gettingcloser and closer, checking the
badges and she's freaking out.
She goes we're leaving.
We're leaving, you can stayhere, but we're leaving.
I said no, no, no.
I said stay.
And at one point she said whatif we take a picture of a badge?
And just say, we forgot ours athome.
Yeah, I said that's a good idea.

(01:05:32):
I pulled a badge out.
I said here, just take apicture of the badge.
And I'm waiting to see if shenotices that at all.
And she's looking at me.
She goes where are we going toget a badge?
I said here, I said, just takea picture of this one.
And eventually it clicked andher and her friend freak out.
We got to go backstage and wegot to meet them and we took

(01:05:55):
pictures and those pictures areup on the Instagram page if
anybody would like to go checkthem out Again.

Tiffany Mason (01:05:59):
how do you get to become Jay Franzi's kid?

Jay Franze (01:06:03):
This had nothing to do with my connections.

Tiffany Mason (01:06:05):
I mean you pulled it off though.

Jay Franze (01:06:08):
I may have pulled it off, but it wasn't because of
my connections, it was becauseof some very nice woman who gave
me a very good deal.

Tiffany Mason (01:06:17):
Aw, that's pretty awesome.
You sent me a picture fromthere and I was like, oh, that's
so cool.
So I was like, well, if Jaylikes it, I'll probably like it.
So I went and followed it andthen the Today, I Think a New
episode released and I was likewhat is this?
What did I?

Tony Scott (01:06:33):
subscribe to.

Tiffany Mason (01:06:35):
I was like oh gosh, this is that thing that
Jay took Lucy to.

Jay Franze (01:06:39):
It's like listening to Screech.

Tiffany Mason (01:06:42):
Yeah.
I lasted literally threeminutes Literally.

Jay Franze (01:06:46):
One of the boys on the show sounds like Screech.
For sure I laugh, because hecame onto the stage riding a
toilet.

Tiffany Mason (01:06:53):
Okay.

Jay Franze (01:06:53):
Which I met Screech in person, and Screech came
riding a toilet.
Oh so Par for the course Idon't know if this is a
connection, but anyways.
So par for the course but, anyways these kids look like
they're all 12, but two of the.
There's three boys, three girls, and two of them are married.
Oh, two couples oh, wow so it'sweird to me that they look like

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
