Do not answer it now, MissTiffany.
Wait, and we will answer it alittle later in the show.
And if you would like to joinour shenanigans and put your
comments in the comment section,we will go ahead and read those
a little later in the show aswell.
Alright.
CMAs.
(01:41):
Let's go ahead and discussthem.
Let's talk about it a littlebit because they do air tonight.
Tiffany Mason (01:47):
Oh.
Jay Franze (01:47):
And you know, the
disappointing part of that is I
usually work them and I'm not.
Very disappointing and verysad.
I reached out to the team thatI usually work with.
I wished them luck and I toldthem I wish I could be there
with them.
I probably should have madearrangements for that, but I
didn't.
Tiffany Mason (02:06):
It's because you
wanted to be here with me.
Jay Franze (02:08):
It is.
That's the exact reason.
I wanted to be here with you.
There's no place else on earthI'd rather be.
Tiffany Mason (02:13):
Right.
Jay Franze (02:14):
However, the CMA
awards they do take place
tonight at the Bridgetone Arenain Nashville.
So to the team at theBridgetone, have a good night
and be safe.
All right, it also broadcastson ABC tonight.
We know you're not watching itnow.
You're listening to us.
(02:35):
However, you can catch ittomorrow on Hulu.
Tiffany Mason (02:40):
Oh good.
Jay Franze (02:41):
It is the 59th
edition, 59.
Just a hair older than I.
Tiffany Mason (02:46):
Oh, wow.
Jay Franze (02:48):
So not bad.
Do you know who's hosting itthis year?
Tiffany Mason (02:51):
I do not.
Jay Franze (02:52):
You don't?
Surprising.
Laney Wilson.
Tiffany Mason (02:56):
I was gonna guess
between Ella Langley and Laney
Wilson.
Jay Franze (03:01):
50-50 shot then.
Laney Wilson, do you know whythat's special?
Because she's hosted it before.
Oh.
But this time she's hosting itsolo.
Tiffany Mason (03:13):
Oh, wow.
Jay Franze (03:14):
Yes.
And she was very nervous aboutit.
She had a little bit ofimposter syndrome and did not
think she was worthy.
But she is fantastic at it.
No, she's gonna do a great job.
You know what else makes it alittle unique?
A little unicue.
Tiffany Mason (03:29):
Unicue?
Jay Franze (03:30):
She is up for six
awards herself.
Tiffany Mason (03:32):
Mm-hmm.
That's crazy.
Jay Franze (03:34):
So it's not bad.
Tiffany Mason (03:36):
Yeah, pretty
impressive.
Jay Franze (03:38):
It's a long way from
living in the RV behind the
recording studio.
Previous episode.
Go back and check it out.
All right.
There are other people up forawards.
Somebody high up on themountain?
Tiffany Mason (03:52):
Vince Gill?
Jay Franze (03:53):
Yeah.
Amy wrote in and told us aboutthat.
Legendary singer-songwriterVince Gill honored for the
Willie Nelson LifetimeAchievement Award.
Tiffany Mason (04:05):
There you go,
Vince.
Jay Franze (04:06):
You tell us what
it's like high up on that
mountain.
We talked about Lainey Wilson,Ella Langley, and Megan Moroni,
all the ones that are up for sixdifferent categories.
Not bad.
Zach Topp, five.
Oh, just shy of one.
Just missed it.
And then you've got Entertainerof the Year, Luke Combs, Cody
(04:32):
Johnson, Chris Stapleton, MorganWallen, and Laney Wilson.
So out of those, who getsentertainer of the year?
Tiffany Mason (04:40):
My vote would go
to Laney.
I love that little segment shedoes where she picks the cowgirl
of the night.
Jay Franze (04:46):
Yeah, you've
mentioned that.
Tiffany Mason (04:48):
Yeah, I just
think that that's so sweet.
I love that so much.
And I feel like we just needto, you know, encourage our
young people as much as possiblebecause I feel like I don't
know how they do it.
I don't know how they do itwith all the social media and
the pressure, and I don't knowhow they do it.
Jay Franze (05:05):
Yeah, I would uh
it's a tough call.
I would probably lean withLaney Wilson myself.
However, it's close.
You got Morgan Wallen on there, you got Luke Combs.
Tiffany Mason (05:15):
Mm-hmm.
Jay Franze (05:16):
Cody Johnson, Chris
Stableton.
I think they're amazing, but Idon't think they're the
entertainer of the year.
Tiffany Mason (05:23):
I've not seen any
footage of Cody Johnson on
stage, so I do not know.
Morgan was pretty good.
I mean, when Hannah went,Hannah and Sean, they took some
video and shared it, and I waslike, okay, that was pretty
good.
So I I don't know, I haven'tseen the stage presence of the
other the other ones.
Jay Franze (05:38):
Yeah, I mean,
especially Morgan Wallen.
I mean, again, great.
Luke Combs, great.
But I think Laney Wilson wouldhave to be my pick.
So Laney, please do us proudand bring bring us home a
trophy.
We'd like to put it right hereon the shelf behind us and
display it for it.
Tiffany Mason (05:58):
We'll display it
proudly for you.
Jay Franze (06:00):
Right, yeah.
All right, album of the year.
Megan Moroney, Zach Top, PostMalone, Morgan Wallen, Laney
Wilson.
Seems like that list is verysimilar to the to the first one,
Entertainer.
Tiffany Mason (06:19):
That's
drastically different criteria,
though.
Jay Franze (06:22):
Oh yes.
Tiffany Mason (06:23):
And on that one,
I think I'd say Morgan Wallen.
Jay Franze (06:26):
You know what?
Yes.
Out of those, I would sayMorgan Wallen's got probably the
most popularity behind hisalbum.
Tiffany Mason (06:32):
Zach Bryan is the
next one.
Not Zach Topp, right?
Jay Franze (06:35):
Zach Topp.
Tiffany Mason (06:36):
Oh, it is Zach
Topp.
Jay Franze (06:37):
Yeah.
Which isn't bad.
Tiffany Mason (06:40):
I don't think
he's gotten enough exposure yet,
though, to get album of theyear.
Jay Franze (06:44):
I don't think it was
album of the year.
I think uh Morgan Wallen, in myopinion, was Album of the Year.
Tiffany Mason (06:50):
Okay.
Jay Franze (06:51):
Alright, that's two
down.
If we're gonna be predictinglike this, we're gonna have to
come back next week and saywhether or not we were right.
Or we'll just say we wereright.
That's fine too.
Tiffany Mason (07:00):
Let's just say we
were right, Doug Jay.
Jay Franze (07:02):
All right, next
category
year.
Kelsey Ballerini, MirandaLambert, Ella Langley, Megan
Moroney, and Laney Wilson.
Tiffany Mason (07:15):
I'm gonna give it
to Ella.
Jay Franze (07:17):
Ooh, I'm going with
Laney Wilson.
Tiffany Mason (07:21):
Ella Langley
performed with Morgan Wallin and
Riley Green.
And there's buzz about it rightnow.
Jay Franze (07:28):
So Laney Wilson
kicked butt all year long.
Tiffany Mason (07:34):
Yeah, I think
Laney Wilson will probably get
it, but I would give it to EllaLangley.
Jay Franze (07:40):
Okay then.
New artist of the year.
This is where you probably havebetter luck saying Ella
Langley.
Ella Langley, Shabozy, Zaktop,Tucker Wetmore, Stephen Wilson,
Jr.
Tiffany Mason (07:59):
Say him one more
time.
Jay Franze (08:00):
Ella Langley.
Shaboozie.
Zachtop.
Tucker Wetmore, Stephen Wilson,Jr.
Tiffany Mason (08:08):
I think it's
between Laney and Zaktop.
Jay Franze (08:12):
No Laney.
Tiffany Mason (08:13):
Oh Ella.
Ella, sorry, Ella Langley.
And yeah.
And Zachtop.
Jay Franze (08:21):
You gotta pick one.
Tiffany Mason (08:27):
Ella Langley.
Jay Franze (08:29):
I don't know.
I'm going with Zacktop.
Tiffany Mason (08:31):
Okay.
Now you're making me secondguess myself.
Jay Franze (08:36):
You should.
You should second guessyourself.
I like Zack Todd.
Not the chicks.
Tiffany Mason (08:46):
The girls.
Oh.
Jay Franze (08:50):
Who are artists?
Let's go with performing orpresenting.
Artists who step on stage, whoare the ones that you would look
most forward to seeing?
Tiffany Mason (09:01):
Probably Megan
Moroni.
I I still don't love her on theradio, but man, in person, she
was so adorable.
I loved every step she took, every every outfit she had on,
every microphone change, everyguitar change.
I just loved everything abouther in person.
So I would think that if sheaccepted an award or she did a
(09:22):
performance, I think herperformance would be super cute.
So I would go with MeganMoroni.
She's one of the people that Iwould maybe, you know, look for
a unique accent on the guitar ora unique hairstyle, or I think
she's worn like blue eyeshadowbefore.
Although I did hear her newalbum coming out, she's all
(09:42):
about purple.
Her album she just had wasblue.
So I'd be looking to see if shewas wearing any purple.
And then I gotta say, Lainey.
I mean, I love all of herstyle.
She's got these likemaroon-colored leather chaps
that she's worn.
She's always got like uh theirlike metal accents with
(10:02):
turquoise and stuff on them.
She's always got fringes.
I think she's got some funstuff going on with her clothes.
So I guess I would look atthat.
I haven't noticed anything withthe gentleman.
Jay Franze (10:14):
Well, Megan Moroney,
before we get off that, was
super nice to my daughter.
And we got to sit there andwatch her do her sound check and
everything, and my daughter gotto go up on stage and stand
center stage and sing throughher microphone.
I mean, very, very nice.
So, as far as a person goes, amazing.
(10:34):
Her music, I really do like it.
It's not just because of that.
I didn't actually didn't knowmuch about her when I saw her
live, but as time went on, I gotmore and more familiar with her
music, and I really do like it.
I would be interested to seeanything she does.
You know what?
I really want to see MirandaLambert.
She's actually performing.
Tiffany Mason (10:54):
Okay.
Jay Franze (10:55):
So I would like to
see something she might do.
There's gonna be others upthere too.
The the typical ones you'dwould expect are performing,
like Kelsey Ballerini'sperforming.
Yeah.
Keith Urban's performing.
Tiffany Mason (11:07):
There was a funny
picture I saw on social media
about hairstyles the guys hadrocked in the past, and Blake
Shelton had like curly hair, andit was like coming in his face
a little bit.
And Keith Urban's hair wasactually pretty long.
I was like, okay.
I like it better the lengthhe's got it.
Jay Franze (11:25):
But I know um Keith
Urban had that funky haircut,
and Blake had the mullet.
Yeah.
They were making fun of eachother.
So do you think these are thenew class of artists and the
current class of artists areactually going to be stepping
out?
Tiffany Mason (11:42):
Yeah, I
definitely feel like there is a
new wave coming in, a newgeneration kind of taking over
for sure.
Jay Franze (11:48):
How long do you
think it will take until Ella
Langley or Megan Moroney or evenShabuzi and Zach Topp, those
type of artists, till they'rethe main artists, and you've got
the current ones, ChrisStapleton and Morgan Wallen, and
those step aside.
Tiffany Mason (12:06):
I I my gut is
saying three years.
What do you think?
Jay Franze (12:12):
I hope it's longer
than that.
Tiffany Mason (12:14):
Yeah.
Jay Franze (12:17):
I mean, it's like
you said when I I said Tim
McGraw, and you said, well, he'snot relevant anymore.
I think he's still one of themost relevant people in country
music.
I think he is definitely one ofthe most popular country
singers ever.
And I don't think that you juststep away from that.
And Morgan Wallen has proven tobe that next level of artist.
Tiffany Mason (12:39):
Yeah.
Jay Franze (12:39):
And if he continues
down that path, he will be that
next level of artist.
And I wouldn't want to see himstep aside just because these
other people are coming in, likeElla Langley, Megan Moroney, or
Zach Topp, Shabuzi, those typeof artists.
I wouldn't want to see himpushed out because of them.
I don't think we're at thatpoint yet.
Tiffany Mason (12:57):
Yeah.
I also think, though, that withlike the discovery of TikTok,
and we were talking about howartists can have their career
skyrocket a lot faster.
I wonder if the lifespan isshorter because more artists are
coming out of the woodwork fromTikTok and social media and
(13:17):
YouTube.
And maybe that shortens thelifespan of, you know, we're
like so instant gratificationsociety that, like, what's new?
What's new?
What's new?
What's new?
So I wonder if that will well.
Jay Franze (13:30):
If you take that a
step further, you got these new
artists with six nominations.
That's different than it's beenyears in the past as well.
That there's hasn't beenartists like new artists
specifically that have had sixnominations.
Tiffany Mason (13:44):
Now, Jay, when
does AI take over?
Jay Franze (13:47):
Nice.
Well, if we just had our firstnumber one hit with AI, uh huh.
Maybe next year it'll be newartist of the year.
Tiffany Mason (13:58):
I think there
will be a category though that
is, you know, best AI.
Jay Franze (14:04):
Oh, I hope you're
right.
Tiffany Mason (14:06):
I don't think
it's far.
It may not be next year, but Ibet it's the next year.
Jay Franze (14:11):
Bond of a sister for
sure.
Tiffany Mason (14:14):
I think so.
Jay Franze (14:15):
It's up for six
nominations.
You know, Billy Ray Cyrus ispresenting tonight, too.
Tiffany Mason (14:24):
Interesting.
Jay Franze (14:25):
That was an awful
long pause with a frozen face
there.
I take it you do not approve.
Tiffany Mason (14:32):
Well, it's not
that I don't approve.
I uh like him, like his music, whatever.
But his last performance at theWhite House Well, he's not
performing, he's presenting.
Okay, well, I guess that'sbetter.
Hopefully he can hold ittogether.
Jay Franze (14:47):
People have
malfunctions when they when they
present.
Tiffany Mason (14:50):
Wait, what is his
new girlfriend to uh Elizabeth
Hurley?
Jay Franze (14:54):
She's presenting
tonight too.
Tiffany Mason (14:56):
Well, probably
because they're together.
But maybe she's got them allcleaned up and spruced up for
public public eyes.
Jay Franze (15:04):
Leanne Rhimes is
presenting tonight too.
Tiffany Mason (15:07):
Oh, nice.
Jay Franze (15:09):
I would like that.
It's kind of cool, like I said,it's tonight beyond Hulu
tomorrow, ABC tonight, if youcan catch a rerun, because I
know you're listening to usright now.
But check it out on Hulu.
Tiffany Mason (15:22):
I'm just thankful
that we can offer them an
alternative so that while theyare appreciating the show, they
know that they can still catchit.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Jay Franze (15:33):
Do us a favor, put
in the comments who you think
the winners are gonna be.
Tiffany Mason (15:38):
Mmm, yeah.
Weigh in, crew members.
Jay Franze (15:41):
Who do you think the
winners will be?
And next week we will see whowill be right.
And if you put your answer inthe comment section, you will be
included in that running of whocan take home the crown for the
most predictions.
Tiffany Mason (15:55):
Maybe we should
say two.
Okay, so the first story that Iwas going to say is that the
female present uh representationwith Laney Wilson, Ella
Langley, and Megan Moroney, theyeach have six nominations.
So maybe we should also wagerwill it be Laney, Ella, or Megan
who comes home with the mostawards.
Jay Franze (16:16):
Laney.
Tiffany Mason (16:17):
I know.
And maybe it's a shoe-in.
Jay Franze (16:19):
Oh, you can pick.
Tiffany Mason (16:20):
That's who I
would pick, too.
Jay Franze (16:22):
You can't pick her.
I picked her.
Tiffany Mason (16:23):
No, that's who
I'm picking.
No, you can't.
Okay.
Well, oh, fine.
Jay Franze (16:27):
You can because
we'll we'll go most overall.
Okay.
So if you want to chime in withall of your predictions as
well, go ahead and chime in.
Winner gets dinner from theother.
Is that fair?
Is that a fair thing?
Tiffany Mason (16:42):
Winner, winner,
chicken dinner.
Jay Franze (16:44):
You buy me dinner.
What if a person who raiseschickens?
What do you call them?
Tiffany Mason (16:54):
Chicken razor?
Chicken farmer?
Chicken tender.
Jay Franze (17:00):
But um there you go.
Tiffany Mason (17:02):
Oh, mom said Ella
got two already.
Jay Franze (17:05):
Oh, see.
No cheating there, Miss Kathy.
All right, let's move on to thenews.
Tiffany Mason (17:14):
All right.
The first thing I'm gonna tellyou guys about is the 59th
annual CMA Awards.
So we already talked about it,but the rivals for Entertainer
of the Year, Laney Wilson, LukeCombs, Cody Johnson, Chris
Stapleton, and Morgan Wallen.
So we'll see how that pans out.
Jay Franze (17:34):
I would like steak.
Tiffany Mason (17:36):
You like steak?
Jay Franze (17:37):
Steak for my dinner.
Tiffany Mason (17:38):
Okay.
I'll have to think of what I'mgonna have.
The country star, Cody Johnsonand his wife Brandy, welcomed
their third child, a son namedJC Daniel.
Um, and he was born October21st, 2025.
So congratulations to CodyJohnson and wife Brandy.
Jay Franze (17:57):
Miss Kathy, you
relax there with the seafood
comments.
Tiffany Mason (18:01):
That's what I was
gonna say, Mom.
Jay Franze (18:03):
She could choose
whatever she wants because she's
gonna be the one buying.
Tiffany Mason (18:05):
I was stuck
between shrimp or crab, mom.
You don't want crabs, crablegs.
Jay Franze (18:11):
Oh, there is a
difference.
Tiffany Mason (18:14):
To put the bowl
on that story, the mother and
baby are reportedly healthy, andthe couple are excited to watch
their daughters become bigsisters.
Jay Franze (18:22):
Congratulations.
Tiffany Mason (18:31):
Very interesting
how to see how it goes down.
Okay, next is Kelsey Ballerini.
We talked about her.
She is heading back toAustralia with a new EP in hand.
So the multi-platinum artistKelsey Ballerini is returning
for her first major headlinetour there since 2019.
She's releasing a six-song EPtitled Mount Pleasant.
(18:54):
The EP includes a new single, ISit in Parks, which I thought
was okay.
It was it was a song.
And Bellarini says the workreflects a chapter of
self-examination and growth, which I did not get from that
song.
I did not listen to it all theway through.
I did not want to.
Jay Franze (19:16):
She recorded her
first or wrote her first song at
12 years old.
Tiffany Mason (19:20):
Oh wow.
Jay Franze (19:22):
She was a youngin'.
She reminds me, or or shall Isay, Josie Saul reminds me of
her.
Tiffany Mason (19:30):
Oh, sure.
Okay.
Yeah.
Listening to it, it made methink of uh like I need to
listen to it a couple moretimes, but it makes me think of
another country song.
I think that's another reasonwhy I didn't like it.
Because when the chorus getsready to hit, I think something
else is gonna be sung and thenit's not because I realize it's
(19:51):
not the same song.
Or you know what I'm saying?
Like I'm expecting differentwords, and I'm like, oh, you
copycatted the melody orwhatever.
Okay, well, Mr.
Tucker Wetmore, he is sharinghis big CMA night with his mom.
Rising country artist TuckerWetmore opened up about his
first CMA nomination and debutperformance, and he plans to hit
(20:13):
the red carpet with his mom byhis side.
Wetmore's debut album, What NotTo, launched major breakout
this year, and now he's steppinginto the national spotlight.
Like Tucker Wetmore, like hismusic, but we did not pick him
for any of the awards.
Jay Franze (20:30):
It's because he
doesn't deserve them.
Tiffany Mason (20:32):
Whoa.
Whoa.
Hate mail.
Jay Franze (20:35):
Well, I mean, put
him up against Laney Wilson.
I don't think he's ready.
Tiffany Mason (20:39):
So nope, agreed.
Hasn't earned it yet.
Elle Langley, with six CMAnominations this year, she will
be performing her new song,Choosing Texas, at the show.
Wish I was there.
She says she hopes to theaudience feels the longing.
She credits her faith and herteam's work for getting her
(20:59):
ready for this career.
Milestone.
I would love to be there.
This is a fun song that justcame on my radar, and I'd love
to see her performing live.
Jay Franze (21:10):
She's got to have
some sort of like tough streak
to her for sure.
She got her start performing inbiker bars.
Tiffany Mason (21:16):
Oh, wow.
I can see that.
Jay Franze (21:19):
She's gotta be
tough.
Tiffany Mason (21:20):
Yeah.
Well, she performed with MorganWallen or uh Rather Green, and
they were showing it on socialmedia, and she had a cute little
outfit on that was a littlerisque.
So I think she's got a littlenatty streak in there somewhere.
Jay Franze (21:43):
You know why?
Tiffany Mason (21:44):
You know why you
can't get you to bite the bait?
Jay Franze (21:46):
Bite the bait?
No, that's a weird way ofsaying that.
However, no, you know why?
Tiffany Mason (21:54):
Take the bait,
take the bait.
Jay Franze (21:56):
I moved to Nashville
and started my career in
Nashville in 1999.
Okay, that's the year she wasborn.
Tiffany Mason (22:05):
I was gonna say,
is that the year she was born?
Oh no.
Jay Franze (22:08):
So, you know, she's
pretty and all, but nope, sorry,
just stand across the room.
Tiffany Mason (22:14):
Yeah.
All right.
Well, Luke Combs has shared hispick for Entertainment of the
Year, and it is not himself.
He said he would vote for CodyJohnson in that category.
His comment highlights howtight the field is this year and
how peers are rooting for oneanother.
It's nice when you hear aboutcamaraderie.
Jay Franze (22:35):
Well, they're
friends.
Yeah, you know.
All right, fine.
Move on.
What do I know?
Screw the fact that they'refriends.
Tiffany Mason (22:46):
I just didn't
know what to say and reply.
Jay Franze (22:50):
They are friends.
He helped him out.
That's how they get theirstart.
No.
No, just shit.
This is a show where we talk toeach other.
Sorry.
Didn't mean to sparkconversation.
Tiffany Mason (23:07):
How dare you?
Yeah, I did not know that theywere friends.
So that's interesting to learn.
Jay Franze (23:13):
I don't know if we
are.
Tiffany Mason (23:17):
We are.
We are.
Okay.
So a couple of weeks ago, wereported that Todd Snyder was on
tour and he had been assaultedand then he went into the
hospital.
Well, unfortunately, onNovember 14th, he actually
passed away after a briefillness at age 59, leaving
(23:40):
behind a legacy in thealternative country world.
So that's kind of sad.
Jay Franze (23:45):
Kind of sad.
It's very sad.
Tiffany Mason (23:47):
Mm-hmm.
Hate to see a goodsinger-songwriter go.
Jay Franze (23:50):
Anybody.
Tiffany Mason (23:52):
Anybody.
Anybody.
Sorry.
Jay Franze (23:54):
Especially
singer-songwriters.
Tiffany Mason (23:58):
I didn't mean to
be insensitive.
Jay Franze (24:02):
Again.
Tiffany Mason (24:03):
Again.
There she goes again.
Jay Franze (24:09):
Walking down the
street.
Do a diddy diddy.
Dumb diddy do.
Tiffany Mason (24:17):
Okay.
Well, Riley Green is opening upabout his nat nom his CMA
nomination.
Wow, English is tricky tonight.
Alaborn Alabama born.
Jay Franze (24:30):
Slow down, girl.
Slow down.
Tiffany Mason (24:33):
Slow down.
Alabama born, Riley Green.
It's reflecting on hisfour-time CMA nomination and
upcoming performance at theawards tonight.
He and Ella Langley are bothnominated for single, song, and
music video of the year fortheir collaboration.
Very nice.
(24:54):
And I had talked about it thatthey were performing it
together.
And here it is.
Jay Franze (25:00):
He's a talented man.
Tiffany Mason (25:02):
I did not realize
how good looking he is until
this lady was like, You're goingto CMA Fest.
Oh my gosh, Riley Green isgonna be there.
He's so good looking.
Blah blah blah.
Jay Franze (25:11):
That would explain
the TV show.
He had his own TV show.
Tiffany Mason (25:15):
Oh.
Because the ladies like to lookat him.
Jay Franze (25:19):
And if that's not
enough for a good looking man to
have his own TV show, he wasalso the quarterback on his
college football team.
Tiffany Mason (25:26):
So things are
adding up.
Things are adding up.
Jay Franze (25:31):
You know what?
We don't like Riley Green afterall.
Tiffany Mason (25:34):
I mean, speak for
yourself, Jay.
And he's from Bama.
Okay, he's probably got somekind of cute accent, too.
Jay Franze (25:43):
Let's go with cute,
yes.
Tiffany Mason (25:49):
Okay, well, we're
talking about all the Zach's
and Luke's and Bryant's and allthe things, right?
Zach Bryant.
So he has actually been soberfor two months, and he is being
candid about his mental health.
So he said, I haven't touchedalcohol for nearly two months.
Something I had to do for myown personal clarity.
He wrote, I needed to see theworld objectively.
(26:11):
So he was having like someanxiety or panic, and he was
finding himself constantlyreaching for alcohol to soothe
himself.
And so he recognized this isnot healthy and decided to take
a break from it.
And he said, I just want to saythat it's okay to be weak at
times and to need help.
He concluded, God speedeverybody.
(26:32):
I pray this helps someone.
And so I feel like this is anappropriate time to say if you
or someone you know isstruggling with substance abuse,
contact the S A M H S Ahelpline at 1-800-662 help.
Jay Franze (26:48):
Say the phone number
one more time.
Tiffany Mason (26:50):
1-800-662-H
E-L-P, spelling the word help.
Jay Franze (26:57):
Very nice.
Tiffany Mason (26:58):
Yeah.
Jay Franze (26:59):
It is that time of
year.
Tiffany Mason (27:01):
It is that time
of year, actually.
Yeah, that's true.
And I mean, we've been talkingabout how Nashville is seeing a
decline in drinking.
I don't know if Nashville is,but country music as a as a
population supposedly is cuttingdown on their drinking.
So, you know, good for him thathe's recognizing the problem
and then just being open aboutit.
(27:22):
I think I think what we'reseeing with social media is a
more real side of a lot of theseartists.
Even uh Jodi Messina, she's allover social media.
And I'm like, okay, that's kindof funny that old school
country, or not old school, butyou know, a couple generations
back is having to embrace socialmedia and utilizing it.
(27:44):
And you get to see a very realside of them, her and her kids.
And she was doing something theother day where she was doing
like somersaults or something.
I was like, okay, girlfriendcan still like get down because
you know, she ain't a springchicken no more.
Neither am I.
So either way, but yeah, Ithink with social media, we're
seeing these these artists haveto almost become influencers.
Jay Franze (28:07):
You, my friend, will
always be young.
Tiffany Mason (28:10):
Oh, oh, Jay, can
we get that on a t-shirt?
Jay Franze (28:14):
Don't get carried
away.
In another year or two, youwon't be able to read it.
Tiffany Mason (28:20):
True story, so
I'll have to get readers, put
readers on just to see what youwrote on my shirt.
Jay Franze (28:25):
I'll sign it with a
Sharpie.
Tiffany Mason (28:29):
Well, that leads
me into the last thing I was
gonna tell everybody about thecrew members and UJ.
Jay Franze (28:35):
And me.
And you think I'm included.
Tiffany Mason (28:40):
Is that uh an
analysis shows how streaming
services, playlists, and livestreams are increasingly
influencing the sound, reach, and business of modern country
music.
The shift means artists areadapting as audience engagement
moves beyond traditional radio, which is like I was saying, with
social media, TikTok,Instagram, YouTube.
(29:03):
And last week, I think it waswe talked about how streaming
platforms are changing userbehavior with throwing up
captions, which I do that inApple Music where I click on the
little caption so it'll come upand tell me what the words are.
So I can sing along.
Jay Franze (29:19):
Shall we move on to
the question of the day?
Tiffany Mason (29:22):
Oh, what was the
question of the day, Jay?
Jay Franze (29:24):
I'm afraid to read
it.
Tiffany Mason (29:26):
Oh I'm question
of the day.
Jay Franze (29:29):
Who's the most
stylish?
Stylish?
Stylish artist?
Who is the artist with the moststyle?
Tiffany Mason (29:38):
That is such a
tongue booster.
It's hysterical.
Jay Franze (29:41):
Who is the artist
with the most style?
James, you're fired.
And we don't have a button foryou, but I'm telling you, if we
did, you would be gone.
Who is the artist with the moststyle?
Tiffany Mason (29:56):
Well, you
normally give me an opportunity.
I'm gonna take it.
I'm just gonna say LaneyWilson.
Freaking love that kid.
Love that girl.
She is just shown up in themost amazing, bedazzled.
Nashville country girl rodeo.
God, I just I love it.
(30:18):
I love it.
That's that's probably thereason why I follow her.
I want to see what she'swearing in the next.
Oh, and she's got that uh she'sgot one of those cowboy hats
where the top is like a10-gallon cowboy hat, isn't that
what they called it orsomething?
10-gallon hat.
10-gallon hat.
She's got one of those.
Like, I just love seeing whatthe heck she's gonna show up in.
Jay Franze (30:37):
Nice.
Not bad, not a bad choice.
Not who I'm going with, but nota bad choice.
Tiffany Mason (30:45):
Okay, who are you
going with?
Tell us in the beginning.
Just do it.
Jay Franze (30:48):
In the beginning?
Tiffany Mason (30:49):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Jay Franze (30:50):
The very first
person that came to my mind was
Prince.
Tiffany Mason (30:54):
Oh, okay.
I would agree with that.
Jay Franze (30:58):
He wears a coffin
like no other.
Tiffany Mason (31:00):
Ah, Jay.
Jay Franze (31:04):
Just a joke.
Anybody, it's just a joke.
His fashion sense wasimpeccable.
All right, moving on before Iget fired.
Jay, you're fired.
Tiffany Mason (31:17):
You know where
hate mail goes, right, guys?
Jay Franze (31:18):
Hate mail goes to
Jay at JFrancy.com.
I got it.
I deserve it.
Oh, all right.
Moving on.
Megan.
Megan agrees with Miss Tiffany.
She says Laney Wilson.
Tiffany Mason (31:29):
Oh yeah.
Jay Franze (31:30):
Nobody rides bell
bottoms better than Laney.
Chris says Morgan Wallen.
The mullet movement.
Is it really?
I mean, yeah, and Billy RayCyrus and Blake Shelton.
Yeah.
Are we saying the mullet is aresurgence of the mullet?
Tiffany Mason (31:49):
I think it's a
resurgence.
I do.
Jay Franze (31:52):
Alright.
Tiffany Mason (31:52):
I don't think
Blake Shelton brought it.
He had it, but I don't thinkanybody imitated him.
Jay Franze (31:58):
Okay.
Evan says jelly roll.
He's unapologetically himself, and somehow every tattoo becomes
part of his outfit.
Okay.
Tiffany Mason (32:11):
When there's that
many, I don't think you can
avoid it not becoming part ofyour outfit.
Jay Franze (32:15):
All right, Laurie, I
do agree with you though.
She says Carrie Underwood.
Tiffany Mason (32:19):
She was another
person that came to mind.
Jay Franze (32:21):
I will tell you, we
mentioned CMAs and working them
in the past.
I was in the parking garagegetting ready to go into the
arena, and Carrie Underwood wascoming in.
And she was walking in with herhandlers and they had two full
racks of clothing.
Tiffany Mason (32:36):
Oh yeah.
Jay Franze (32:37):
Two full racks.
Uh-huh.
And obviously she couldn't gothrough all those clothes, but
she wanted to be prepared incase she changed her mind.
Tiffany Mason (32:44):
Well, you never
know.
The wind is gonna blow.
And you know, I get up in themorning and while I'm showering,
I start thinking to myself Am Ipreppy, Tiffany?
Am I Sporty Spice?
Um what was another one I cameup with?
Jay Franze (33:01):
I'm afraid to see
where this is going.
Tiffany Mason (33:03):
Uh, there's one
more.
I can't think of what it isright now.
Jay Franze (33:07):
More of your
personalities.
Tiffany Mason (33:09):
And yeah, yeah,
it's it's all my personalities.
And sometimes just lazy.
Yeah, sometimes just lazy, justI don't even care what I put on
today.
Like if it matches fine, and ifnot, whatever.
Jay Franze (33:20):
Sean, please chime
in in the comment section and
let us know which personalityyou like best.
Which personality did youmarry?
And which one are the twopersonalities you ended up with?
It's like the crazy sisters, not you, Jenny.
The others.
Tiffany Mason (33:36):
Okay, so the
other thing about Carrie
Underwood.
So I agree, you never know howthe wind is gonna blow, and she
may be like, No, I'm not wearingthat.
I'm definitely feelingsomething blue, and goes with
it.
What also, what also, Jay?
If she shows up and somebody'salready working red carpet,
they've got what she was gonnawear.
You can't show up and whateverybody else has on, so she's
(33:57):
gotta be prepared, Jay.
Jay Franze (33:58):
She's gotta be
prepared for another oven.
Got it.
Tiffany Mason (34:00):
Okay, that's
right.
Jay Franze (34:01):
Um, moving on.
Jacob says Hardy.
He says it's all about theflannels, the glasses, and the
attitude.
Tiffany Mason (34:09):
Yeah.
I was gonna say the glasses, yeah.
Jay Franze (34:13):
Haley says Cody
Johnson.
Tiffany Mason (34:15):
I gotta watch
more of this guy.
Like, he's not on my radarenough.
I only know one song by him.
I probably know two songs byhim, but that's all I know.
Jay Franze (34:24):
Trey, I'm gonna
allow this only because it's
probably the one time that thisfits into our show here.
He says Beyonce.
Tiffany Mason (34:33):
Oh, okay.
Jay Franze (34:35):
I can see that as
part of this show.
Tiffany Mason (34:37):
We'll allow it
this one time.
Jay Franze (34:39):
Don't let it happen
again.
Samantha says Keith Urban.
I don't see it.
Tiffany Mason (34:46):

Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Mom, you got me on that, right?
You got me on that, Mom.
Jay Franze (35:00):
Brian W.
Just saying W, because thiscould very well be Brian White.
Oh says Shania Twain.
Brian White and Shania Twainhave duetted in the past and
they are friendly, and thatwould explain why he might use
Shania Twain.
(35:20):
Yeah.
Brian W, if you are BrianWhite, please let us know.
Rita.
Rita says Megan Moroney.
Tiffany Mason (35:28):
Yes.

Gina says Zach Bryan
without the T.
She actually says without theT.
Gina, you are my new bestfriend.
Tiffany Mason (36:06):
Way to go, Gina.
Way to call me out.
Jay Franze (36:09):
Marcus says Dolly
Parton.
Tiffany Mason (36:12):
Yeah.
She was the other one.
Jay Franze (36:13):
Glitter, glamour,
and greatness.
Tiffany Mason (36:16):
Mm-hmm.
Jay Franze (36:17):
I can go with that.
Harper says Post Malone.
Caleb says Miranda Lambert.
Wyatt says Tim McGraw, really?
Jeans and a t-shirt.

However, says Willie Nelson.
He says bandana chic.
Tiffany Mason (36:55):
That's awesome.
Bandana and braids chic.
Jay Franze (36:59):
And then Tina says
Luke Bryan.
Tiffany Mason (37:02):
So wait a minute.
Uh when we had our Texas, ourTexas Roadhouse up in Minnesota,
went to conference, and KentTaylor, the founder of Texas
Roadhouse, would always go allout and we'd have themes and
like it was really like over thetop all the time.
One of the things that theygave out at one of the
conferences was like thisheadband that was a bandana, and
(37:24):
then it had Willie Nelsonbraids that hung down.
Nice.
It's awesome.
Jay Franze (37:29):
I would like to see
you in that.
I'm sure you still have it, somake it happen next week.
Tiffany Mason (37:34):
Yeah, yeah.
Okay, next week.
Jay Franze (37:36):
Tina says Luke
Bryan, those tight jeans.
Tiffany Mason (37:39):
If he moved a
little bit better in them, I
could get down.
But okay, fine.
White boy can't dance.
Jay Franze (37:48):
Jerome, that's a
name we have not heard here
before.
But Jerome says jelly roll.
His style is tattoos andkindness.
Alright, James, the James.
The James that provided thequestion of the day says Prince.
(38:08):
There we go.

Hi, Holly.
(38:42):
Holly says share.
Tiffany Mason (38:47):
Oh, good call.
Yes.

It's gotta be in the blood.
Miss Kathy says Ella Langley,Carrie Underwood, and Dolly
Parton.
Those were my picks.
He's gotta have three.
Tiffany Mason (39:05):
Yeah, yeah.
Jay, we cannot be pigeonholedinto one answer.
Okay?
We have many opinions and mustshare them all.
We cannot narrow it down.
Jay Franze (39:16):
Alright.
Tea and smoke music.
Tiffany Mason (39:20):
They've been
here.
Jay Franze (39:20):
Thank you for coming
back.
Says nowadays everyone seems tojust wear underwear on stage.
Tiffany Mason (39:28):
That is fair.
Jay Franze (39:30):
With a little
laughing emoji.
Tiffany Mason (39:32):
Who has the best
lingerie?
Maybe that should have been thequestion.
Who wore it best?
Jay Franze (39:38):
Alright.
And we're gonna go ahead andend on this one.
Tiffany Mason (39:42):
Okay.
Jay Franze (39:44):
Maya Project Music
says the last one to be stylish
was Annie Lennox.
And then Freddie Mercury forMale Artists.
Tiffany Mason (39:55):
Freddie Mercury
came to mind when somebody said
Elton John.
Jay Franze (39:59):
None of the current
artists out there, none, unless
you believe porn is a style.
This is just my opinion.
Tiffany Mason (40:16):
I mean, they're
not wrong.
Jay Franze (40:17):
So there you go.
Tiffany Mason (40:19):
They're not
wrong.
So let's start with MeganMoroni debuting spot number 10,
six months later.
I think this song's prettycute.
What doesn't kill you calls yousix months later.
Jay Franze (40:35):
I do like that one
as well.
Tiffany Mason (40:38):
It's very clever.
Okay, Tucker Wetmore.
We talked about him.
He's not winning the awards, but he was nominated, which is
still an honor.
He is hanging tight at spotnumber nine with three, two,
one.
Spot number eight.
It is Parker McCollum with whatkind of man?
I'll tell you the kind of manthat likes the number eight.
Jay Franze (41:02):
I thought you were
gonna let it go this way.
I really did.
I thought it was gone.
Tiffany Mason (41:06):
No, Jay Franzi.
Okay, spot number seven, holding steady at spot number
seven, Parmely with Cowgirl.
Jay Franze (41:13):
Nice.
Tiffany Mason (41:14):
And spot number

Riley Green himself with Don'tMind If I Do, featuring Ella
Langley.
Jay Franze (41:22):
Nice.
I like when two of the new onesget together to do a duet.
Tiffany Mason (41:26):
Yeah, I do too.
Um, I'm proud of them for beingquote unquote new and collabing
in the public eye.
Like you're saying, but yeah.
Jay Franze (41:39):
But differently.
Tiffany Mason (41:40):
But differently.
Jay Franze (41:41):
Like I said it, but
in your voice.
I get it.
It works out.
Tiffany Mason (41:48):
I had to say it
so people would understand.
Yeah, yeah.
Jay Franze (41:50):
No, because it was
it was a tough one.
Tiffany Mason (41:53):
Okay, we got a
lot of people holding their
place.
Laney Wilson, spot number five, somewhere over Laredo.
Jay Franze (42:00):
It is a good song.
I do love it.
It's been around for quite awhile.
Long time on the chart.
Tiffany Mason (42:07):
Long time on the
chart.
We love you long time, Laney.
Long time on the chart.
Whoa.
Jay Franze (42:17):
Well, hate mail goes
to Tiffany.
Tiffany is.
Tiffany Mason (42:21):
I just feel like
there should be filler words
like it's been on the charts along time.
Instead of on the chart longtime.
Long time on the chart.
That's what it was.
Oh okay.
Well, maybe you should havecrabs.
Crab legs when I win.
(42:43):
Yes.
Morgan Wallins in spot numberfour with I Got Better.
Big fan.
Love me some Morgan Wallins.
Jay Franze (42:50):
You've got gone.
Tiffany Mason (42:51):
Yep.
I got better.
Jay Franze (42:53):
You don't correct
his grammar.
Tiffany Mason (42:57):
It's more fun to
pick on you.
Jay Franze (42:59):
Yeah, that's true.
Spot number three.
Tiffany Mason (43:03):
He doesn't care.
He's like, whatever she said.
Who cares?
Okay, spot number three.

(43:23):
Are you ready, Jay?
Spot number two.
Chase Matthew with Darlin.
And spot number one.

Jay Franze (43:49):
Really?
Tiffany Mason (43:50):
And hanging on
the charts, yeah.
Jay Franze (43:52):
I think it went up
the charts pretty quickly.
I don't think it's been aroundthat that long.
Tiffany Mason (43:57):
Like a month.
Jay Franze (43:59):
Like a month.
Talk about the TikTok world, myfriend.
Holy cow, I can't believe youjust said that.
Tiffany Mason (44:06):
How long should
it stay on the charts?
I mean, cheaper.
Jay Franze (44:09):
Like weeks upon
weeks upon weeks.
Tiffany Mason (44:11):
Well, we got
weeks, right now.
Jay Franze (44:12):
Close to a year.
Not a month.
Oh.
All right.
Okay.
Let's move on to the indies.
You know what?
And let's do this.
Let's start at number 10.
Tiffany Mason (44:26):
That's a good
idea.
Let's do it.
Okay.
Jay Franze (44:29):
Every once in a
while I have one of those.
Tiffany Mason (44:32):
Spot number 10,
Life's a Highway by Soul Circus
Cowboy with Andy Griggs.

single of the year?
And then I was like, oh, thatwas the title of the song.
So Single of the Year by MaddieTrue.
True Blue Music.
Spot number eight, perfume on myjersey by Caleb Lathrop.
That's a cute song.
You gotta go check it out.
From you.
(45:17):

Perfume on jersey, blood on ajersey.
I get what you did there.
Jay Franze (45:23):
Yeah, the jerseys.
Tiffany Mason (45:24):
Yeah, yeah.
Okay.
Jay Franze (45:27):
Also call them
sweaters.
Tiffany Mason (45:30):
Really?
Jay Franze (45:30):
Yeah, that was an
old time thing.
Used to call them sweaters.
Tiffany Mason (45:34):
Oh.
Okay.
Jay Franze (45:36):
Sorry.
Move on to your charts.
Yeah.
Your rinky dne little numberthing.
Tiffany Mason (45:40):
Yeah.
My little number thing.
We're on num little numbernumber seven.
Jay Franze (45:44):
Yeah.
Tiffany Mason (45:45):
And the song is
said no redneck ever.
Jay Franze (45:48):
Said no Tiffany
Ever.
Tiffany Mason (45:50):
A Aaron Goodvin.
Jay Franze (45:52):
Okay, that's enough
of that.
Tiffany Mason (45:55):
Fine.
Aaron Goodvan.
Can you take the fun out of it?
You know what, Jay?
I wish you would go.
But the song in number six isWish You Wouldn't Go.
Kendall Mesh.
I could tell you were focusingon something, but I didn't know
what.
Just dying to say it.
Jay Franze (46:15):
Waiting.
One of my terms.
Tiffany Mason (46:18):
Spot number five
is being held by Billy Joe Jones
with the song Turquoise andSilver.
Jay Franze (46:24):
No E.
Tiffany Mason (46:26):
No E.
Jay Franze (46:30):
However, Get Joe
Records has an E.
Tiffany Mason (46:35):
Very observant of
you.
So Billy Joe Jones has no E andno name Joe.
But the record label is Get JoeRecords.
And that Joe has the E has anE.
Okay.
Jay Franze (46:48):
Just want to make it
clear for everybody.
Tiffany Mason (46:50):

Okay.
Spot number three is Hell ThatI Call Home by Porter Martin.

Jay Franze (47:29):
That's a very weird
way of saying goodbye.
I'm going to start doing that.
The end of conversations.
Bang, bang, boom, boom.
Tiffany Mason (47:34):
Well, I think
it's like bang bang.
Boom boom.
You know, like a I don't know.
Yeah, that's interesting.
I don't like it.
Jay Franze (47:42):
No.
Tiffany Mason (47:43):
But what I do
like, well, really what you like
is spot number one.
Jay Franze (47:48):
Hey, Miss Kathy.
Tiffany Mason (47:52):
Hide and Go Cheat
by Eric Lee Beddingfield.
Jay Franze (47:58):
What?
Tiffany Mason (47:59):
It was very
anticlimatic for me.
I'm sure you've heard thatbefore.
Jay Franze (48:04):
I hear it all the
time.
I'll be the first one to tellyou.
Because I just don't get thingsdone.
It's alright though.
It's all the same feeling tome.
Ooh.
Ooh, we're going to move on.
Tiffany Mason (48:22):
We gotta move on.
Jay Franze (48:23):
We've got to move
on.
You know why?
Because we're gonna talk abouta girl that was born in 1999.
Tiffany Mason (48:31):
I love that
that's so depressing to you.
Jay Franze (48:33):
Yeah, very
depressing.
So we're gonna talk about herand our artist spotlight
tonight.
And Miss Tiffany's selection.
If you would like to make aselection, if you would like us
to spotlight an artist or reviewa song, go ahead and let us
know in the comments or submitit.
You can send it to Jay atJFranzy.com.
If you are a musician, you havea song of your own, please let
(48:54):
us know.
We will review that as well.
But right now, tonight is EllaLangley.
So we're gonna go ahead andtalk about her a little bit.
Miss Tiffany, what is the nameof the song that you have
chosen?
Tiffany Mason (49:04):
Choosing Texas.
Jay Franze (49:05):
Choosing Texas.
I think it's also fair to pointout that Miss Ella Langley
plays guitar as well as sings.
I always think that'simpressive when the vocalist can
also play an instrument.
Tiffany Mason (49:17):
Yeah, I think
it's very much like chewing gum
and walking at the same time.
Jay Franze (49:21):
Well, if you're
gonna do it at the same time,
then we're really gonna beimpressed.
However, as much as I'mimpressed with the fact that she
can play guitar and probablyplays live, she's not playing on
our record.
Yeah.
And she's probably not pluggedin when she plays live.
Unfortunately, that's the waythat's the way it is.
Tiffany Mason (49:41):
I hate learning
that.
I hate that.
It's just like I know that thereality shows, like the real
housewives or whatever, I knowthat they're like staged, and I
know other things are staged, but I like to play dumb and I
like to watch the show and thinkthat it's real.
Jay Franze (49:59):
So then when
couldn't have been a better
statement ever.
Tiffany Mason (50:06):
Ignorance is a
bliss.
I like just watching it andthinking it's real.
And so I hate when I go, thatwas probably staged.
Oh, that was staged.
Jay Franze (50:14):
You know, my wife
hates watching movies with me
and stuff when I can point outthe the flaws in the production.
Or if we're listening to music,I see there was a bad edit.
Or that was that was punchedin.
But yeah, I think it's alsoimportant to mention that the
song had some co-writers on it,one of them of note.
Tiffany Mason (50:39):
Was it Jay
Franzi?
Jay Franze (50:41):
It was not Jay
Franzi.
It'd be nice if it was.
I could use that payday.
No, it was not me, but it wasMiss Miranda Lambert.
Tiffany Mason (50:49):
Oh, cool.
Jay Franze (50:50):
You know what else
is special about Miss Miranda
Lambert being part of thewriting of that song?
One guess.
Nope.
She sang background vocals onthe song.
Tiffany Mason (51:04):
Cool.
Jay Franze (51:05):
And she's not a man.
Tiffany Mason (51:07):
I know it must
have been an instrument.
Jay Franze (51:11):
All right.
Ella and Miss Miranda alsoproduced the song.
Tiffany Mason (51:16):
Oh, cool.
Jay Franze (51:18):
So I also like that.
Tiffany Mason (51:20):
Uh-huh.
Jay Franze (51:20):
So let's talk about
the song a little bit.
Let's talk about the story.
Tiffany Mason (51:23):
Let's bust their
chops.
We'll tell them how it works.
Jay Franze (51:28):
I think lyrically
it's a strong song.
I think it's your typicalmodern country heartbreak song.
Which it's good.
I like songs like that.
I think they have feeling, butthis this particular song has a
a nice arc to it.
You have a story.
So to me, that was good.
How did you feel about thelyrics themselves?
Tiffany Mason (51:50):
The lyrics
themselves were great.
So in the first line, shementions Abilene, Texas, which I
like because I feel like wealways hear about like Austin or
Houston.
And so it was nice to hearabout a town that's not brought
up very often.
He is from Texas, and thesinger is quote unquote
Tennessee.
And she thinks that she's gothim convinced that he's in love
(52:13):
with Tennessee.
But then they go back toAbilene and he falls in love
with Texas.
It's another woman that isTexas.
So I love the imagery of himbeing from Texas and falling
back in love with Texas, butreally it's not the state that
she's talking about, it's theperson that she's talking about.
And I just thought it was justkind of a funny side note that
(52:36):
in the song they talk aboutAmarillo by morning.
And that has come up so manytimes on our question of the day
that I thought that that waskind of funny.
Like I just loved all thelittle clever you know tidbits
that she threw in there.
Jay Franze (52:50):
Yeah, it does have
strong imagery, but I would say
it takes it a step further ifyou talk about the
Texas-Tennessee rival.
Tiffany Mason (52:59):
Yeah.
Jay Franze (52:59):
Country music,
that's a big thing where Texas
country versus Nashville countryare usually a bit of a rival to
it.
I always like to think in goodspirits, right?
Good to have some competitions, friendly competition.
Tiffany Mason (53:14):
Yeah.
Jay Franze (53:15):
But Texas is
typically known for the more
live music, where Nashville wasalways known for the more
recorded music.
Tiffany Mason (53:22):
Mm-hmm.
Pretty boy music.
Yeah.
Jay Franze (53:24):
There you go.
Did you say pretty boy music?
Tiffany Mason (53:27):
Pretty boy music.
They're all pretty boys.
Jay Franze (53:30):
Wow.
All right.
Tiffany Mason (53:31):
You know, where
like you go to Texas and they're
like, you know, ringling somecows, because they cowboys down
there.
That's a little bit more tough.
Like Gretchen was talkingabout.
Jay Franze (53:44):
All right.
Back to the song.
Okay.
I think it was strong ingeneral.
It had a relatable concept.
The song itself lyrically wasgood, but if we go into the the
music of it, I think theproduction was good.
We talk about criticallistening when it comes to
listening for production value.
I think the song was balanced.
(54:05):
I think it had a good spatialimage.
One thing I liked about theactual production of the song
was the instrumentation moved.
It didn't stay static.
So a lot of times what willhappen is when somebody's mixing
a song, if they put, say thisparticular song has a steel
guitar and it started off on theleft side of the stereo image,
but later it was on the rightside of the stereo image.
(54:27):
And then later again was backon the left side of the stereo
image, which is cool.
It adds interest.
However, there is a downside toit.
If you were watching somebodyon stage and say that steel
player was on the left side ofthe stage as you were watching
it, that steel player would notmove.
(54:48):
They're sitting down and theirinstrument is on a stand on the
floor.
It's not like they walk acrossthe stage or anything.
So if you are a purist, you'renot going to like the fact that
the steel guitar moved.
An electric guitar, and theplayer could walk across the
(55:08):
stage, but even if they were towalk across the stage, so if
you're a purist, you might notlike that.
But as far as ear candy goes, Ithought that was pretty good.
And as far as ear candy goes, there was an instrument I wasn't
expecting to hear, and that wasthe mandolin that came in in
the second verse.
It was kind of interesting, gave a little bit of ear candy
to that.
So I did like that as well.
(55:29):
And I did like MirandaLambert's background vocals.
So I did too.
They blended very well.
Uh-huh.
Because Ella had a very smoothvoice.
And Miranda's got thatraspiness to her, and the two
kind of blended and made thebackground vocal stand out a
little bit more.
Tiffany Mason (55:46):
I agree.
Jay Franze (55:46):
So I thought that
was I liked it a lot.
Tiffany Mason (55:48):
I don't know.
I got kind of a 90s vibe fromit.
You know how like um some ofthe music we've likened to uh
Garth Brooks, and I felt likethis just felt like a little 90s
to me, which felt familiar andnostalgic, and I liked it.
Jay Franze (56:03):
Yeah, I think it had
that feel to it.
I mentioned that you had Ellaand you had Miranda Lambert
producing, but you also had BenWest was a producer on the
record as well.
Ben West is probably yourtypical producer that you're
gonna find.
He's not an artist performing,he is probably the main
producer, where the other twoprobably helped out.
And then Dave Kloss is um themix engineer.
(56:26):
Always good to point them outwhen we know who they are.
Works for me.
Alright.
Shall we move on?
Tiffany Mason (56:37):
I think we shall
mail back.
Jay Franze (56:42):
Do we need a jingle?
I don't know.
Maybe we do.
Tiffany Mason (56:45):
It doesn't need
one.
I'll just say it every week.
We have we have one.
Tiffany.
You're fired.
Tiffany, you're fired.
Tiffany, you're fired.
Goodbye.
Triple?
Triple?
I got I got I got punishedthree times for that.
Jay Franze (57:05):
Carly says, love the
energy that you two bring.
She was talking about me.
She included you just for thesake of it.
She didn't want you to feelmost out.
Tiffany Mason (57:14):
Oh yeah.
And Tiffany.
Jay Franze (57:16):
Jamie says, Tiffany,
your laugh alone boosts my
mood.
Oh, please.
M.
M.
Tiffany Mason (57:27):
Just the letter?
Just as M.
Jay Franze (57:29):
This is the last
name, but it says M.
Tiffany Mason (57:31):
Who goes by just
a symbol?
Prince?
Was it Prince?
Prince.
Yeah.
Jay Franze (57:35):
Do you know why you
went by the symbol?
Tiffany Mason (57:37):
I do not.
Jay Franze (57:38):
Because he wanted
out of his record deal and they
wouldn't allow him out of hisrecord deal.
So he changed his name to asymbol so that nobody could
pronounce it.
Tiffany Mason (57:50):
Good for him.
There you go.
Jay Franze (57:51):
All right.
M says Country Radio issleeping on half of the new
artists that are coming out.
Your show is the only onegiving them the proper
spotlight.
Keep pushing.
Yay.
Hannah.
Hannah with an H.
Thank you.
Again.
We love having you here.
We are overdue for a countryartist who doesn't sound like
(58:13):
he's trying to audition for atruck commercial.
Okay.
Tiffany Mason (58:20):
I think we have
that, don't we, with Zach Bryan?
Jay Franze (58:24):
Not getting
involved.
Not getting involved.
Kelsey.
Kelsey from Louisville,Kentucky.
He can figure out her last nameand the fact that she lives at
836 Main Street.
Anyway.
She says y'all.
(58:44):
Which is funny to me becausethere's a water tower here that
used to say Florence Mall.
Tiffany Mason (58:51):
Yeah, it just
says all.
Jay Franze (58:52):
Florence Mall, but
the water tower looks like it's
part of the mall, is apparentlyon city property.
So you couldn't advertise.
So they changed it to sayFlorence Yall.
And it has become such a stapleof the city that the baseball
team, the minor league baseballteam, they changed the name from
(59:13):
Florence Freedom to FlorenceYalls.
And the Water Tower is theirmascot.
Tiffany Mason (59:23):
That's cool.
Jay Franze (59:24):
So Kelsey, I get it.
Thank you.
Y'all have the cleanest audioout there.
Seriously.
My headphones, thank you.
Thank Miss Tiffany.
Virtually you.
Tracy.
Tracy.
It says T-Bird.
So Tracy, T-Bird, says J Bird.
(59:44):
Oh, mercy me.
People are killing me.
It says, You've got this calmbut tough vibe going.
Like you could host a show andthen break up a bar fight.
I give you respect.
Let me know if you ever want toleave your wife.
Tiffany Mason (59:59):
Oh, oh, if you
want to go hide and go cheat.
Jay Franze (01:00:01):
If I want to go hide
and go cheat, she doesn't want
to hide.
Let's do it.
Tiffany Mason (01:00:05):
I think she's
pegged you correctly though.
Jay Franze (01:00:07):
Tracy.
Hmm.
Come on, girl.
What do you wear?
Let's just get to it.
Sorry, babe.
I if you're awake, it's just ajoke.
I hear the broom of it.
Tiffany Mason (01:00:19):
I love how you're
always looking up into the
ceiling like she's a ghost.
Jay Franze (01:00:23):
It feels like it.
Sometimes she she pops up.
It's like Beetlejuice.
Wife, wife, wife.
Tiffany Mason (01:00:29):
Oh my God.
Stop.
What's the next piece of mail?
Jay Franze (01:00:34):
Gene.
Gene.
It's from Pittsburgh.
I like Pittsburgh.
Gene says, we need morestorytelling songs and fewer
checklist songs.
Song lyrics matter.
Song lyrics matter.
Sarah, Sarah with an H.
Can I say the chemistry betweenyou two feels effortless?
(01:00:58):
You can say trust me.
All sorts of effort going onover here.
Tiffany Mason (01:01:04):
I say it's
effortless.
Jay Franze (01:01:08):
Oh, backroads
Brandon.
Tiffany Mason (01:01:11):
Oh.
Jay Franze (01:01:12):
Jay, I'd listen to
you talk about vocal chains all
day long.
You need to nerd out moreoften.
Okay.
Let me tell you about thispreamp.
It's called Avalon.
The knobs are nice.
They're kind of rigid, but theymove smooth.
Is that working for you?
(01:01:33):
Yeah?
Okay.
I don't think so.
Let's move on to thecompressor.
Tiffany Mason (01:01:37):
Oh God.
Jay Franze (01:01:40):
Thank you, I guess.
Omar says labels need to stopmanufacturing TikTok moments and
start signing people who cansing.
Shall I say it?
No autotune.
There, I said it.
Oh, you're my new friend.
Tiffany Mason (01:01:56):
But as we
learned, the industry forces
auto tune on stuff that doesn'tneed auto-tune.
Jay Franze (01:02:02):
That's true.
Melissa.
Melissa says, Tiffany, you'vegot the best mix of warmth and
wit.
Tiffany Mason (01:02:14):
Oh, thank you.
Jay Franze (01:02:17):
She doesn't know you
very well.
Honky Tonk Historian.
Not a bad name.
My wife would like that.
Tiffany Mason (01:02:26):
Uh-huh.
That's cool.
Jay Franze (01:02:28):
Artists need to
bring br bring back.
Tiffany Mason (01:02:31):
Bring it bring it
back, Jay.
Bring it back.
Jay Franze (01:02:36):
Artists need to
bring back proper album
sequencing.
People actually do listen tothe album in order.
Let me tell you, that littleproject I just released, my wife
hounded me about the order ofthose songs.
I said, Well, that's not theorder they belong in.
She's like, it's the orderthey're going in.
(01:02:58):
She goes, It tells a story.
You gotta go in the order ofthe story.
So she weighed in and she gother way.
Of course she didn't.
She got her way.
But yes, I agree with you.
The thing I don't like that Inoticed through this process was
once you upload your songs tothe DSPs, there's no transition
(01:03:21):
between the songs.
One plays stops, the next oneimmediately starts.
Part of the art of mastering arecord was how much space you
put between the songs.
So if you're going to go from afast song to a slow song, you
put a little bit more space, give your mind a little bit of a
chance to transition into it,you don't get that transition.
Now you could do a workaround, you could put extra space at the
(01:03:43):
end of your song.
It's really not the way youshould be doing it.
If the distribution platform isalways saying, if you gave the
option of allowing us to type ina certain number of seconds
that we could put between thesongs, that would be a fantastic
use of your platform.
Tiffany Mason (01:04:00):
Well, I think
that all the time when I'm
listening to podcasts, becauseif they insert a commercial,
it's like the person's talking, and then all of a sudden this
commercial just starts out ofthe blue.
So whenever I insert things, Ialways wait for a second or two.
Like I always count it out, youknow, like one, one thousand,
and then I'll have the nextthing start.
Because I think your brainneeds to like switch, like, oh,
(01:04:21):
we're going into a commercialnow.
Oh, we're going back to theshow now.
So that's disappointing to hearthat because I don't want music
to start playing like that.
Jay Franze (01:04:30):
Anywho, Brooke
Innate.
We listen every Sunday whilemaking breakfast.
This show has become part ofour routine.
A little news, a little talk, and a whole lot of personality.
Thanks for being the soundtrackto our marriage.
Tiffany Mason (01:04:44):
Aw, what an
honor.
Jay Franze (01:04:47):
I think that's
probably the best comment we've
ever had.
Tiffany Mason (01:04:49):
I think so too.
Jay Franze (01:04:51):
Big Rig Benny.
Big Rig Benny.
Tiffany Mason (01:04:57):
That's awesome.
Jay Franze (01:04:58):
Okay.
Jay, brother, comma.
Jay, brother.
Tiffany Mason (01:05:05):
You can just hear
him on the CD radio.
Jay Franze (01:05:07):
I've hauled freight
through 33 states, and your show
is the only thing that can keepmy eyes open at 3 30 a.m.
And Tiffany, oh, your laughmakes miles feel shorter.
Tiffany Mason (01:05:21):
That's awesome.
Jay Franze (01:05:22):
Y'all keep the
rubber side down.
Keep the news coming.
That's awesome.
Tiffany Mason (01:05:31):
You know, it's
really a redemption story, you
guys, because I was made fun ofso much in high school for my
laugh.
Literally made fun of.
I had friends, I wasn't beingbullied necessarily, but people
would always pick on me for mylaugh.
So it is really refreshing thatin my adult life, y'all love
it.
Jay Franze (01:05:54):
Riley.
Riley says, look.
Look.
Tiffany Mason (01:06:03):
What am I looking
for?
Jay Franze (01:06:04):
I don't know, but he
means it though.
I assume it's a he.
Could be a she.
But Riley says, look, look.
Can we talk about how your lastguest casually mentioned
vintage Neumann's like it was nobig deal?
Tiffany Mason (01:06:23):
Vintage what?
Jay Franze (01:06:24):
Neumann's
microphone.
Oh.
German microphone.
Considered one of the best inthe world.
Tiffany Mason (01:06:29):
Whoa.
Jay Franze (01:06:30):
Jay, please do a
whole episode just on
microphones.
So there you go.
Vintage Neumann.
I do like Neumann microphones.
Oh wow.
No, there's different flavorsof Neumann microphones.
The most common is the NeumannU87, which is heard on thousands
of records.
(01:06:50):
It's been one of the mostcommon microphones forever.
But then Neumann has a wholebunch of tube microphones and
other microphones.
It's even the microphone thatHoward Stern chooses to use on
his radio show.
Tiffany Mason (01:07:02):
Oh wow.
Jay Franze (01:07:02):
Even though it is a
condenser microphone versus a
dynamic microphone.
Alright, here we go.
Mama Joe from Bowling Green.
Tiffany Mason (01:07:14):
Oh, dang, Mama
Joe.
Jay Franze (01:07:17):
Mama Joe.
It says from Bowling Green.
I'm not giving away anything Ishouldn't be.
Her handle says Mama Green.
Tiffany Mason (01:07:23):
We don't really
put it past you either way, Jay.
Jay Franze (01:07:25):
Mama Joe from
Bowling Green.
Okay, I won't tell you heraddress.
I won't tell you that it's 835.
I won't say that it's MainStreet.
I just won't do that, Ipromise.
She says, I may be 76, but Istill bop.
Tiffany Mason (01:07:42):
Oh, I wanna beep
up with you, baby.
All nice long, Mama Joe.
Jay Franze (01:07:49):
Tiffany, honey, you
remind me of my granddaughter.
Bright, sharp, and not afraidto speak up.
Jay, you're a good boy.
Your wife is a lucky woman.
Tiffany Mason (01:08:02):
Aww.
Thanks, Mama Joe.
Jay Franze (01:08:05):
You've just become
the official grandmother of the
show.
Tiffany Mason (01:08:07):
I think so.
Mama Joe.
Jay Franze (01:08:10):
Wanna do more?
Oh, we gotta do more.
I see a couple on here on read.
Tiffany Mason (01:08:15):
Okay.
Jay Franze (01:08:16):
Chops says, here's
the deal.
Half of these new acts can'tsing live.
Tiffany, keep roasting theposers.
It's good for the industry.
All right.
See now I don't mind your namebeing brought up in that
scenario.
Right.
That made sense.
(01:08:36):
Lola from Knoxville.
Oh, I I can't say that.
Sorry.
She's not from Knoxvillebecause she's only 15 years old.
Tiffany Mason (01:08:45):
Oh gosh.
Jay Franze (01:08:46):
She's not from
Knoxville at all.
She's from What's her date ofbirth?
I don't know.
It says Lola and then does oneof these little parentheses
things and says 15.
Yeah.
So okay.
She says, oh my god, Tiffany.
All in caps.
Oh my god, Tiffany with twoexcited marks.
I say excited marks becausethat's what Lucy used to call
(01:09:08):
them in school.
Tiffany Mason (01:09:09):
That's cute.
Jay Franze (01:09:10):
You are literally my
favorite person on any show.
Tiffany Mason (01:09:14):
Oh my gosh.
Jay Franze (01:09:15):
Jay, you're cool
too, but I relate to Tiffany.
I listen while I'm doing myhomework and it makes algebra
ten times less painful.
Tiffany Mason (01:09:25):
It makes sense
that my fan base is 15.
Jay Franze (01:09:29):
Yeah, it does.
All right.
Should we end there?
That seems like a good one.
We can come back.
Come back next time.
Thanks, Lola.
I appreciate it.
That was cool.
See, that was worth doing.
That was fun.
All right, Miss Tiffany, whatdo you got going on?
Tiffany Mason (01:09:50):
Well, I think
first of all, I would like to
tell the crew members we will belive next Tuesday because
something very exciting ishappening on Thursday.
Jay Franze (01:10:01):
And they're making
it our show typically runs on
Wednesday.
Tiffany Mason (01:10:07):
Right, but
there's some prep.
There's some prep, and I may behaving a house full.
That makes me.
I was thinking with this laughthat everybody enjoys so much.
Oh, dick.
The people trying to sleep nextdoor to me may not be enjoying
the laugh very much.
Jay Franze (01:10:23):
The ones that have
to listen to it all the time.
Tiffany Mason (01:10:25):
They love me for
it, though.
So yes, so we will be live nextTuesday at 10 p.m.
Eastern Standard Time.
Normal time, different day.
One day early.
We're not gonna charge for thatcontent coming out early
either.
So it's fine.
Jay Franze (01:10:42):
It's not part of the
premium content.
Tiffany Mason (01:10:46):
And then
tomorrow, Memories with a beat,
there's a new episode.
And we are talking about Eventhe Losers by Tom Petty and the
Heartbreakers.
Jay Franze (01:10:53):
You know, they get
lucky sometimes.
Tiffany Mason (01:10:55):
Yes, they do get
lucky sometimes.
And then finally, you guys.
Okay.
Remember, I did Boot Scoot andBourbon.
I met Stephen Quinn and hisfamily, and I became an instant
fan.
Then he was performing inFlorida near me, and I was gonna
go and I got strep throat.
Then the next time he was downhere and he was performing, I
(01:11:16):
was gonna go and I went to thehospital instead.
Excuses, excuse.
I know, excuses, excuses.
So this Sunday he's performingclose to me again, and so I'm
gonna uh jet out on Hannah'sflag football a little early.
(01:11:36):
Yeah, yeah.
Your daughter catch it and hernew activity.
Well, I've been at all.
Jay Franze (01:11:44):
You're just gonna
bail.
Tiffany Mason (01:11:46):
I've been at all
of her games, I've been a good
mama, but I also think it'simportant to set example for our
children, and like it's good tohave them be a priority, but
also know the world does notrevolve around them.
So it's okay if I go and watchher first full game and half of
her second game and then gowatch Steven.
Good to fill your cup too.
(01:12:07):
So you stay a good parent, goodmama?
Jay, what are you doing?
What is new?
What have you been up to?
Did you go last weekend?
Who was gonna be in town?
Oh, Chase Matthew.
Yep.
Jay Franze (01:12:23):
I did not go.
We had too many family thingsgoing on.
Speaking of those damn familymembers.
Tiffany Mason (01:12:29):
I know.
Jay Franze (01:12:30):
You know, I put my
family first.
I know.
I know you don't always dothat.
Tiffany Mason (01:12:36):
Okay, everybody
put their boots on and skin
thick.
Who went and met Jason Bottomon his anniversary?
It was just the wife.
Jay Franze (01:12:46):
Yes, fine.
Yes.
No, I didn't.
I did my daughter's homecomingone Friday, which was nice.
And I did, I don't know, Idon't even know what the hell we
did.
It was something, but I didn'tI didn't go to a show, I'll tell
you that much.
All right, this week again atLaurie's Roadhouse.
I like to go to Laurie'sRoadhouse.
(01:13:07):
I'm going to try to be there.
There's two shows this week.
There's one that I planned onseeing on Saturday.
Which is Hotel California.
A salute to the Eagles.
Tiffany Mason (01:13:18):
Okay.
Jay Franze (01:13:18):
So Laurie's
Roadhouse Saturday.
However, on Friday, there isCory Hooker and the Cadillac
Preachers.
Tiffany Mason (01:13:29):
Okay.
Jay Franze (01:13:30):
Don't know who they
are, but I want to go check them
out.
Tiffany Mason (01:13:33):
What kind of
music is it?
Jay Franze (01:13:35):
I'm going gas
country.
Tiffany Mason (01:13:37):
Oh, okay.
Jay Franze (01:13:38):
It's Laurie's
Roadhouse.
It's typically 95% countrymusic.
Tiffany Mason (01:13:43):
Oh, got it.
Okay.
Jay Franze (01:13:44):
I mean, they do they
do have salsa night.
Tiffany Mason (01:13:48):

Jay Franze (01:13:49):
They have line
dancing night and they have
salsa night.
Tiffany Mason (01:13:52):
Oh man, I'd be
there for line dancing night.
I gotta find somewhere here inFlorida.
I mean, there's some lady andshe's doing pop-ups, like, you
know, one-offs here and there.
I need a regular gig.
You know what I'm saying?
Jay Franze (01:14:05):
I hear ya.
I hear ya.
Yeah.
Either way, I don't know whoCory Hooker and the Cadillac
Preachers are, but I would liketo see them.
I would probably like to seethem more than Hotel California.
Tiffany Mason (01:14:16):
Oh, wow.
Jay Franze (01:14:17):
So we will see how
that goes.
We will see if the wife willallow me to leave the family
long enough to go see a show anddo something that I would
enjoy.
Tiffany Mason (01:14:27):
See if you get
permission.
Jay Franze (01:14:29):
See if I can get
permission.
Because the Lord knows shewon't go with me.
Now to be fair.
To be fair, we have threechildren.
We do have three children.
Oldest one is old enough tobabysit.
That's the whole reason why hehad three, right?
Tiffany Mason (01:14:43):
Right.
One's a babysitter, one's thebaby.
Well, she's there for heratmosphere.
Jay Franze (01:14:50):
That poor girl, I'll
tell you, that girl is nuts.
Tiffany Mason (01:14:54):
I love her.
Jay Franze (01:14:54):
She is absolutely
nuts.
