All right, before we getstarted, let me go ahead and
just mention what the questionof the day is.
Question of the day is what iscurrently your favorite song?
What is currently your favoritesong?
What is currently your favoritesong?
All right, last week, MissTiffany, I was driving home from
(01:32):
work.
I was driving home from workand I like metal music, I like
rock music, and I was drivinghome and I was listening to the
radio, Sirius XM Octane being myfavorite station that I
listened to.
Tiffany Mason (01:48):
Sounds about
right that tracks.
Jay Franze (01:49):
And tracks right.
It makes sense.
They have this segment of theirshow that they call Test Drive,
where they play three songsfrom up and coming artists and
they want you to decide whichone of those artists you like
best.
Tiffany Mason (02:05):
Okay.
Jay Franze (02:06):
To my surprise, they
played a song from a band
called Twisted.
Now, twisted is a band that hasbeen on this show.
They are a band that I'm a bigfan of, so I asked them to come
on the show.
They came on the show.
We had a good time, we talked, they made fun of me.
It was all good.
Tiffany Mason (02:25):
I listened to the
interview.
I remember it.
It was very good.
Jay Franze (02:28):
They are a trio out
of Pennsylvania, they are a
powerhouse trio.
I mean they are hard rocking.
I absolutely love them.
The reason I mention it is Iheard their song.
I thought it was fantastic andI thought it was good for them
to be on the radio and be onSirius XM's test drive, yeah, so
if you do not mind and I'mleaving this up to you if you
(02:50):
don't mind, I will go ahead andbring her in.
Tiffany Mason (02:55):
I would love it.
I would love to talk to her.
I didn't get to talk to herwhen you talked to her the first
time and I would love to talkto her.
So, yes, let's do it.
Jay Franze (03:04):
All right, we're
going to go ahead and bring in
Sara Higgins.
Sara, my friend, how are you?
Sara Higgins (03:09):
I'm good.
How are you?
Jay Franze (03:11):
I am good, I'm glad
to see you here.
Sara Higgins (03:13):
Yes.
Jay Franze (03:14):
Miss Sara, Miss
Tiffany, Miss Tiffany, Miss Sara
.
Tiffany Mason (03:18):
Hi, hello.
I love some of the things thatyou say, and of them is Sara.
It's the A's.
I think that the Bostonians saySara, I don't know everybody's
busting my cookies.
Sara Higgins (03:34):
I make fun of our
guitar player for how he says my
name.
Jay Franze (03:37):
So alright, fine.
Well, this is a good night, folks.
On that note.
Tiffany Mason (03:43):
I'm saying I like
it, I'm not making fun of you,
just your Boston is showing.
Jay Franze (03:48):
My Boston is showing
there you go, Nice.
Sara.
My friend, tell me how it feelsto hear your song on Octane.
Sara Higgins (03:56):
It was a crazy
experience, even like how it
happened.
We opened our TikTok and we sawwe got a DM and we thought it
was fake at first.
It was from an A&R person forthe station and she was like hey
, we love your song DarkThoughts.
Can you please send me the MP3?
I want to send it to ourprogram director.
(04:16):
So I was like this can't bereal.
And I'm like researching her,I'm like, oh my gosh, she like
is real.
And we ended up sending thesong over.
And then later that night shewas like okay, you're gonna be
on Octane Test Drive, we'll letyou know when.
And then the next day she waslike, okay, you're gonna be on
this week.
So shout out to Emily formaking that happen.
But it was just crazy how quickit all kind of came together.
Jay Franze (04:39):
Did it blow your
mind hearing your song on there?
Sara Higgins (04:41):
Yeah, it was a
weird feeling, but in a good way
Were you all together.
Jay Franze (04:52):
Yeah, we did a
little listening party, which
was fun.
Now I often call you themastermind behind it all.
I don't know if that's a fairstatement, but I feel like
you're kind of the mastermind, but your primary role is drums.
Sara Higgins (05:02):
Yes.
Jay Franze (05:03):
And this song, let
me tell you, starts off with the
drums kicking.
Sara Higgins (05:08):
Yep.
Jay Franze (05:09):
So is this one that
you wrote.
Sara Higgins (05:12):
Yes, yep.
Jay Franze (05:13):
All right, so tell
us a little bit about the back
story of the song itself.
Sara Higgins (05:18):
All right.
So we kind of started off withthis riff that Logan has, which
we start a lot of our songs thatway, and it kind of sets like
the mood of the song.
I would say, and yeah, he wasplaying that and then I was just
kind of like tapping on myknees and I was like what can I
play over this?
And normally on like a riff, you match your drum pattern,
like the kicks to the chugs ofthe guitar, I guess.
(05:39):
And then he was kind of writingthat I was like wow, this is
going to be tricky.
And then I don't know this verseI think the verse of this song
might be one of my favorites.
We've written just how it likeopens up and that tom fill I
always love doing toms in averse and I kind of just was
messing around and I was likethis is cool and we all just sat
(06:02):
down and kind of thought of atheme together and we started
working on lyrics.
And it all just sat down andkind of thought of a theme
together and we started workingon lyrics and it all kind of
just came together well, youmentioned his guitar part and
how you guys built around it.
Jay Franze (06:13):
Whose idea was it
for that little guitar stutter
in the intro?
Sara Higgins (06:18):
I think it was
logan's yeah, it wouldn't
surprise me.
Jay Franze (06:21):
I mean, yeah, he's
an absolute perfectionist when
it comes to his guitar parts.
Sara Higgins (06:26):
Yes he is.
He'll sit there for hours andmake it perfect.
What is this theme?
In response to the feedback yougot from the first release,
second time back in the studioand recording, it was kind of
like we faced some challengesand like people kind of like I
(06:48):
don't know, almost coming out ofthe woodworks and being like
why are you doing it this way, like you're not gonna, you're
not gonna succeed, you're notgonna do this, and we were kind
of just like took all of thatlike anger and I feel like put
it into this song.
It was kind of like, okay, well, we're going to show you what
we're about and what we soundlike and yeah well, you know
what I've heard about peoplesaying mean things.
Jay Franze (07:10):
That's how you know
you've arrived once you get some
haters very true george, we'rewaiting for our haters.
Can you make that happen for?
Us please.
Well, we talked about thelyrics and you guys sit around
and you write this stuff.
How much participation did youhave in the lyrics this time
around, because I know in thepast you've had a a very big
(07:32):
part in the lyrics honestly, Ifeel like when it comes to
lyrics, we're all pretty likeevenly split on kind of how much
we contribute.
Sara Higgins (07:42):
I would say kayla
did a little more with this song
, coming up with like the hookof it, but then we all just
bounce ideas off of each other, which is like my favorite part
in writing and kind of just likethrowing sentences at each
other and like changing thewords around and we're like, oh,
this word sounds stupid, whatword do you have?
And kind of just like coming toa conclusion that way.
Jay Franze (08:03):
I think the lyrics
are a little bit more
sophisticated this time around.
I think we're taking it up anotch and.
I think her vocal delivery isdynamic.
It starts off, especially whenthe song kicks in.
Like you mentioned, that Tompiece in the verse and her
vocals are kind of silky smoothcoming down in that area.
But, then, by the time wereached the chorus, everything
(08:23):
kicks in.
So are you working with her?
Is that all on her at thatpoint?
Sara Higgins (08:29):
typically it goes
back to logan again, kind of
like he'll just create a basicchord progression and we'll kind
of test her and see where herrange is and where, like I feel
like a lot of our songs on thelast ep was really like up there
and high and we're kind of like, all right, let's like see
where is most comfortable foryou, let's give you a little bit
of a break, and then kind ofwent around the chords and just
(08:53):
looped it, thinking of melodies.
Logan would think of likelittle guitar leads on the spot
which would also contribute tothe melody, and then I feel like
the chorus is definitely alower one for us.
Normally they're really high, but then in our second verse,
halfway through, we reallypushed her again and she went
for those high notes which islike one of my favorite parts of
(09:13):
the song.
To showcase that again.
Jay Franze (09:16):
Talk about the hook
for a second, because this song
has an extremely strong hookstrong hook.
Sara Higgins (09:24):
I like, to be
completely honest, forget how
that whole hook came about.
I feel like it was just us inthe studio and we always have a
notebook and we write down wordsor words we like or we'll have.
Well, literally some days we'lljust sit down and write a list
of words together and then we'llgo back to them to reference
(09:46):
and I just think one of ourwords we had written down
previously was dark thoughts andwe kind of just went off that
and we're like well, how do wefeel when this happens?
And it kind of feels like we'reone of the lines is dark
thoughts hold me underwater Likeyou almost can't escape.
Jay Franze (10:03):
It's very visual.
Sara Higgins (10:04):
Yeah, and I feel
like water is a big symbol in a
lot of our songs and we talkabout it a lot, so I think it
was cool to tie that back intoit again but even the production
plays into the hook of the songduring that course yeah, she's
got some some play back andforth with herself on that yes,
the lyrics throughout thatchorus yeah, we love doing a
(10:25):
little call and response thingor an echo right.
Jay Franze (10:29):
Do you get any
response back from the fans at
this point on the song?
Sara Higgins (10:35):
a lot of them have
been saying it's their favorite
song so far, and they'vedefinitely said they feel like
we've stepped it up a notch withthis song and a little spoiler.
But we're getting ready torelease another song next month
and I think that one's even astep up from this one, so I'm
curious to see how they willrespond to that.
Tiffany Mason (10:54):
That's exciting.
Just keep continuing to growand get better.
Yeah, I'm a big fan of thelyrics.
I always love the.
Whatever the story is, I mean, that's that makes or breaks a
song for me.
And I love the imagery.
I'm always talking about that, like how much of a story can you
tell me or what can you make mefeel?
And that was really goodimagery that it holds you down,
(11:14):
but I also liked that it holdsyou from the light.
I like that.
That's how the song ends, likeI just so good.
Sara Higgins (11:20):
Well, thank you.
Tiffany Mason (11:22):
Yes, ma'am, I'm
not a rocker like jay, so nice.
Sara Higgins (11:28):
I feel like when
we go to write our lyrics,
sometimes we think too hardabout it and we're like, well,
if you know the band sleep tokenand their weird lyrics.
We're like we want to writesomething like cool, like this,
but we're like sometimes justthe simple lyrics, I feel like,
hit people better and they canrelate to them.
So we're always just likemaking sure we're not
overstepping or trying to makethings too complicated and kind
(11:49):
of just like what we feel in themoment.
Tiffany Mason (11:52):
I also think that
when you're straightforward
with your lyrics, it allowssomebody like myself to focus on
the actual music.
So I don't know, I dopodcasting just for background
for you and I have a podcastabout music and I talk to people
about how music makes them feel.
So then I got myself involvedwith some production event and I
(12:12):
recently got to watch a drummerjust like really go at the
drums and didn't realize likethe force that you guys use on
the drums and everything, and sowith the more forward lyrics it
allowed me to be able to go.
Oh, I hear the drums.
There they are.
You know, like I wasn't sofocused on what the story was, I
had the story, I got it.
Now I'm in the feeling now letme switch over to the
(12:34):
instruments and stuff.
So that was really nice for mepersonally, not knowing what I
was jumping into, because thelast time I took a
recommendation from Jay it wasfive finger death punch and it
came at me from the radio and Ialmost crashed my car.
So I was happy for her, something I could appreciate.
Jay Franze (12:56):
I love you so much.
That's funny.
You talk about the lyrics likethat, though, and I think one of
the key factors when you'relistening to a song from a fan
point of view, but also from youknow if you're sitting down to
to critique a song, it's doesthat song have the value of
being able to be replayed, andyour song you could replay and
(13:16):
replay and replay.
I had it on loop on my way homefrom work today, so it's not
only hard rocking, but it has acommercial enough feel that
you'd want to listen to itwithout it being crossing that
line, jumping the shark being alittle too cheesy.
Tiffany Mason (13:31):
I was listening
to my car and I reached my
destination and I rememberfeeling a little disappointed.
I was like, oh, I was going tohit replay.
I was like, well, you know I'mhere, so whatever.
But yeah, it is very good.
And I know Jay and I havetalked to about, like you know,
movement of the song.
I think that's something thatreally stuck out to me is I
liked that.
It had me feeling almost like Iwas underwater, like it had a
(13:54):
very I don't know, I'm not asmusically trained as Jay, so I'm
just appreciative of music.
You know we've talked aboutlike where it's like on your
left and then it's on your rightand whatever.
Sara Higgins (14:06):
And.
Tiffany Mason (14:07):
I liked that
about that song.
So I don't know how it wasproduced, I couldn't even begin
to guess how it was produced, but I like that there was
movement in the song.
I was like, what is, what isthis feeling?
And I was like, oh, this ismovement, because it's I don't
know, so it's necessarily likedistorted, but there's a quality
to it that made me feel alittle underwater-ish.
Sara Higgins (14:25):
So I like that.
Jay Franze (14:27):
Yeah, very cool let
me ask you.
You had your listening party.
What did your parents thinkwhen they heard you guys on the
radio?
Sara Higgins (14:36):
I remember that
night when I got like the
message and after I made sure itwas like real at first and I
walked into my parents room andI was like Octane is like my
dad's favorite station and mymom's favorite station and
they're always like at all thesenew bands concerts, which I
think is great, and um, I camein and I was like guys, guess
what?
And they're like what?
It was like 11 at night, they're trying to go to sleep
(14:58):
and I was like, yeah, I'm gonnabe on the radio and they're like
what radio?
And I was like I'm gonna be onOctane Test Drive and I remember
them just like losing it andgoing nuts and they were just
like that's so awesome andthey're just so supportive.
So it was really an amazingfeeling.
Tiffany Mason (15:13):
And now the whole
house is awake.
Sara Higgins (15:16):
Yes, I remember me
leaving their room and then my
dad coming back in 10 minuteslater and he's like, can you
just say that again, like I needto process it.
Jay Franze (15:25):
That's awesome.
Sara Higgins (15:27):
Yeah.
Jay Franze (15:29):
It is a milestone,
for sure, and I could not
personally be more proud of youguys.
So please tell Kayla, tellLogan that I'm proud of them.
Sara Higgins (15:36):
I will.
Jay Franze (15:36):
I truly like your
music.
I mean, I really like yourmusic.
I like sharing your music.
You're you're one of the bandsthat I really do think have what
it takes to go all the way.
So I'm proud of you guys andthank you for joining us tonight
.
Sara Higgins (15:49):
Thank you, that
really means a lot and it was
fun talking to you guys.
Jay Franze (15:53):
All right, boss.
Well, you have a good night, thank you.
Sara Higgins (15:56):
Bye, have a good
night.
Bye now.
Jay Franze (15:59):
All right, guys, if
you have not heard Twisted,
please check them out.
They are on the road right now.
They'll be traveling throughthe Northeast.
They're going up into Canada.
You can also hear them onSiriusXM, on Octane.
Reach out to them, do a request.
Reach out to Jose Mangan.
He's the one who's playing thetest drive.
He's the one that hosts theshow.
So please reach out, requesttheir song.
It would mean a lot to them, but to us here.
(16:20):
What do you think of her?
Tiffany Mason (16:25):
she's great.
I mean, I think that evenlistening to the last interview
that you did with the wholegroup, I just think that they
articulate what they are doingreally well for how young they
are yeah, no, they really.
Jay Franze (16:40):
I mean they're all
young, they're in their, their
early 20s.
So I mean they are very, veryyoung, they're in their early
20s.
So I mean they're very, veryyoung but their music is so
sophisticated for their age it'sridiculous.
And they're all super talented.
I mean when I say supertalented, I mean I truly mean it
.
They are definitely a talentedgroup of individuals, but she
plays drums, she plays bass, shesings.
(17:02):
I mean she does it all.
So I meanah's just awesome.
Kayla her vocals.
She's the newest person in theband and this is probably their
first real production that theywent out and did with her, like
from start to finish before theytook their songs into the
studio and she came in andhelped them out with their songs
(17:22):
.
Now she's part of it all andshe's writing the songs with
them.
She's just amazing.
Great vocalists, great style toher.
And Logan is a perfectionistwhen it comes to guitar and he
is truly super, super talentedand he's going to be something
special.
So I really respect every oneof them, all three of them.
Tiffany Mason (17:41):
Yeah.
Yeah, I can sense yoursincerity and just listening to
the interview was great too.
I mean, if you guys haven'theard jay's interview with them,
it's definitely worth a listen.
It was definitely valuable.
Not like you know.
Sometimes, you know you getinto a podcast episode and
you're like I'm just listeningto this, to listen to it, I
don't know, but I thought thatthat was a good interview.
Jay Franze (18:02):
Well, thank you,
they are great.
Tiffany Mason (18:05):
Go back check it
out.
Well, it wasn't because of you.
Yeah, it was because of them.
Jay Franze (18:08):
It wasn't because of
me.
No, no, not at all.
I love you like a bad rash.
Tiffany Mason (18:14):
I know you do.
Well, we got some news comingout of Coachella.
I have never been to Coachella.
Have you been to Coachella I?
I have never been to Coachella.
Have you been to Coachella I?
Jay Franze (18:24):
know you lived in
California for a while.
I have not.
Tiffany Mason (18:25):
No, that is not
my thing, okay, what I really
think it is is people in bohohats sipping cocktails, really
thin, with bell-bottom jeans andlike cool, cool people In the
middle of the desert.
In the middle of the desert.
But as I get older I think itmight be like every other
(18:47):
festival where people are reallyjust kind of getting trashed.
So I don't really know.
If you've been to Coachella, let us know, because we have not
been or Coachella.
Sorry, but interesting to findout that I guess tickets used to
be about $200.
I guess five years later thearticle was saying they're up to
$650, fifty dollars.
And these kids you know, Cuzit's usually younger kids that
(19:08):
are going they had to do apayment plan for their ticket.
They got a mortgage, a Secondmortgage.
Their parents had to go secondmortgage, so that that was kind
of funny.
But what brought Coachella onour radar was Post Malone was
there and he closed out thefirst weekend, april 13th.
Radar was post Malone was thereand he closed out the first
weekend, april 13th, marking hisdebut as a headliner at the
festival, and his performancehighlighted tracks from his
(19:30):
country inspired album.
I was surprised by that.
I guess I I don't know whatkind of music is played at
Coachella, but I didn't thinkcountry was one of them.
Now it does say countryinspired, so you know that's a
little different, but I don'tknow.
Jay Franze (19:45):
Featuring
collaborations of dolly parton,
blake shelton, luke combs, morgan wallen it's a huge
festival and it's become morethan what it was originally
started out to be.
But I think it's any stylemusic I think it's just music in
general is appreciated.
Tiffany Mason (19:59):
But no, it did
not start out as country at all
so that kind of shocked me, andit shocks me that you know you
do these collaborations orwhatever, right, but I don't
think that the genre you crossedover into becomes what you
headline with.
Call me crazy.
Yeah, Just wasn't.
Jay Franze (20:20):
I was just surprised
by that he would probably be
able to play that festival, nomatter what genre he was
representing.
Tiffany Mason (20:26):
Yeah.
Jay Franze (20:28):
I was also reading
up on it and Brian May from the
band Queen came and sat in withBenson Boone and they played
Bohemian.
Tiffany Mason (20:36):
Rhapsody.
Jay Franze (20:37):
Oh cool, which was
very cool.
It was a very cool performance.
I mean, it was really reallygood.
But it got some controversyaround it because people didn't
understand who Brian May was.
He came up on stage and somepeople were disappointed because
there wasn't enough applause.
Now, the age group of peoplewho are going to that festival
probably have no idea who Queenis, let alone Brian May, who was
(21:00):
the guitar player Queen.
He wasn't even the lead singer.
It's not like you would reallyknow him, but he did play the
song.
He played the solos and itsounded really really good.
But people were disappointedbecause, you know, he wasn't
recognized.
Yeah, but I think it was verygood.
I think it was very, a verygood thing that Benson Boone
(21:20):
brought him out and they got toplay it together.
Tiffany Mason (21:23):
Yeah, I wonder
what the idea was behind that.
Like if that's somebody thatBenson Boone, you know, kind of
looked up to and thought like, wow, if I ever make it, what
would be really cool would be toplay with Queen, Like that's
cool yeah that would have beensomething good to see, but I'm
okay with watching it on YouTubeafter the fact.
I'll have to pull that up,because that is a great song, so
(21:45):
I'd love to hear it.
We also have that.
The Eagles have announced thattheir final 2025 Sphere show.
They're adding a last set of2025 performances and the Sphere
is their location or theirresidency in Las Vegas.
Jay Franze (22:01):
Yeah, have you seen
that?
I mean, I know you probablyhave not been to it, but have
you seen the building itself?
Tiffany Mason (22:07):
I haven't.
Jay Franze (22:08):
It's like well,
obviously it's a sphere.
It looks like a giant golf ball, but it's supposed to be one of
the most advanced theatersthere is, and an amazing sound
to it and only a handful ofpeople have had a chance to play
there so far because they'vebeen doing these residencies,
but I think that would be a goodband to see.
I mean, they're a moreacoustic-driven rock band.
Tiffany Mason (22:29):
Oh yeah.
Jay Franze (22:29):
And I think that
music would do well in an
environment like that.
I'd also like to see Vince Gillplaying with the Eagles, so
he's their new guitar player.
So, there's a chance that notonly you get to see a good venue
, hear good music, and then getto see Vince Gill up there with
them too.
Tiffany Mason (22:45):
It's the trifecta
of entertainment.
Jay Franze (22:47):
Yeah, I think that
would be a good one?
Tiffany Mason (22:49):
That would be a
good one.
I have not been to Vegasforever, but we told our well, I
told our son when he was likethree.
We used to take him to thehorse tracks.
Like every good parent, youtake your toddler gambling.
Jay Franze (23:00):
Did you say to the?
Tiffany Mason (23:01):
horse track.
To Did you say to the horsetrack?
To the horse track?
Yeah, we loved it.
Such a good parent, I know, butthat kid was smart as a whip
when it came to his money.
Jay Franze (23:11):
Yeah, no kidding
really.
Tiffany Mason (23:13):
He was the only
kid in his little kindergarten
class that knew all of his coins.
I was volunteering in classthat day and the teacher held up
the coins and he said, let itride.
He was so smart and he wouldknow if he won or not.
And he would know, like, howmuch he should have won.
I don't ever know.
I'm like I don't know.
Looks about right.
I don't know if you want togive me five dollars and 26
(23:35):
cents cool, seems good.
But he was always so good andthen, like he would throw his
name in a hat, a little contestor whatever, like a clinic or a
festival or whatever you know, and he'd win whatever the little
prize was.
I'm like you are so lucky, parker.
I said when you turn 21, andthen we did something for
hannah's golden birthday, sothen I turned it to when he
turns 22, which is his goldenbirthday golden birthday, yeah
(23:59):
what is a golden birthday?
you don't know what a goldenbirthday is, jay.
No, your golden birthday iswhen you turn the age of the day
that is your birthday.
So mine was the 24th when Iturned 24, hannah's was the 10th
when she turned 10, and soparker's would be the 22nd
(24:19):
birthday on the 22nd day ofjanuary.
So it used to be the 21st, butwell.
Well, when he turned 21 is whenI said we would take him, but
now we've changed it to the 22ndand I've said that for years
now.
So he said to me the other dayhe was talking about his 22nd
birthday Cause he just turned.
You know, he just had hisbirthday in January.
And I said, yeah, next year isVegas.
(24:41):
And he was like, wait, we'rereally doing that.
And I was like, yeah, I'm likeyou're the luckiest kid I know.
I'm like, yes, we are going togo to Vegas and we're going to
gamble and you're going to winmommy, all kinds of money, nice.
So I don't think they're goingto last that long, but if for
some reason they lasted untilJanuary, maybe we'll take a show
(25:03):
in.
maybe we'll take a show in verycool.
I passed my golden birthdayyears and years and years ago.
Yeah, when is your?
When is your birth date?
The ninth?
Yeah, I was thinking, yeah, maybe you could do, like the
69th, the 59th whoa don't getcarried away 69th, the 59th.
Whoa, don't get carried away.
(25:27):
You're not 60 yet, right?
Jay Franze (25:30):
No, it's the 59th no
, but thank you, it's tomorrow.
Tiffany Mason (25:36):
No, it's not Okay
.
So on your 59th birthday, youcan treat it like you're golden,
and then you can do whateveryou want to do.
Jay Franze (25:45):
Hannah got a limo
and friends, stop saying golden.
Tiffany Mason (25:51):
Okay.
Well then, let's move on.
Alan Jackson farewell tour.
He's adding dates to his tour.
Now Stops for a last call, onemore for the road tour, giving
fans one last chance to see alanjackson perform his 26 hits 26
number one hits live.
Jay Franze (26:12):
Yeah, that's a lot
of number one hits that's a lot
of number one hits.
Guy's been busy I would say theonly one that probably gives
that a running is georgestraight oh yeah yeah, george
Strait's 50, I think not evenlike Darth Brooks.
I don't know Alan Jackson'spretty cool.
I have nothing against AlanJackson.
He's very good, seems like anice guy.
Tiffany Mason (26:34):
I've never met
him well, one, one fateful night
many years ago, after havingbeverages with my friends and
family, I decided to try my handat karaoke.
Now I think I've told you whathappened when I tried my hand at
Lee Greenwood God bless the USA.
(26:55):
I apologized in the middlebecause it was so horrific.
So I thought, for my very firsttime doing karaoke, I would try
Way Down Yonder on theChattahoochee.
That was the song I chose.
So fun facts to know and tellTiffany's heart gets racing and
then I get out of breath andthen I can't find the beat and
(27:17):
it's a mess.
It's a really big mess.
And so I've made two attemptsand I will no longer attempt
karaoke.
But I gave it a shot with oneof Alan Jackson's songs.
Jay Franze (27:29):
Just to close the
brain loop, george Strait, with
a total of 60.
This includes 44 number onehits on the Billboard charts and
16 on media based charts.
Wow 60 number one hits.
Tiffany Mason (27:47):
And then it says
Alan Jackson.
That's pretty crazy, ohinteresting.
Jay Franze (27:51):
There you go.
Tiffany Mason (27:53):
There you go.
Fun facts to not tell Well.
Metallica and Depeche Modewe've got some documentaries
coming out people, which I do.
Wanna watch more musicdocumentaries and these are
piquing my curiosity.
So Metallica they released anew series celebrating their
global fan base, highlightingepic live moments, which has
(28:16):
fans raving across social media.
I would like to see that becauseMetallica was really popular.
I know you're not a fan, butthey were popular when I, you
know my high school years, sothat would be interesting for me
just to I don't know learn moreabout the band.
For so long I only appreciatedthe music and really just the
lyrics.
So I'm like in a new, you knowmy discovery era, if you will,
(28:42):
just learning so much more aboutmusic and really appreciating
all facets and aspects of themusic.
So I would love to know wheretheir heads were, what they were
exploring, how they werecreating music, where they were
going, whatever.
And then Depeche Mode they areteasing for an end of the year
documentary set to release forlater in 2025, promising Behind
(29:03):
the Scenes looks at their recenttour stirring excitement online
.
I would love to see Behind theScenes of a tour.
Just you know, like I know youshared a couple stories of being
on a tour bus.
I think that seems cool, eventhough it's probably not cool.
But it seems cool, it's fun fora while, yeah yeah, right, I
(29:24):
mean for someone like evenmyself.
Jay Franze (29:26):
it's not like I do
it that often, so when I do go
on the road with somebody, Ienjoy it.
Yeah, yeah, I mean when I joinsomebody who's been on the road
forever and they're miserable.
They don't enjoy it, but I do.
I mean the Metallicadocumentary.
That should be cool, I meanit's not that I dislike them.
They've never been my favorite.
(29:47):
And then when I saw theirprevious documentary where they
were seeing a therapist and itwas like they were an old, whiny
couple, that was just too muchfor me.
Tiffany Mason (29:58):
Kind of a turnoff
.
Jay Franze (29:59):
Depeche Mode.
I was never a big fan of theirmusic, but I would definitely
watch the documentary, and notbecause of them or their talent,
just because that wasn't thestyle of music I listened to.
But I would love to see thedocumentary talking about their
you know, behind the scenesstuff.
I think that would be reallygood.
Tiffany Mason (30:14):
I will never
forget my uncle Keith was like
the coolest he was like.
I don't know 10 years youngerthan my mom and my mom had me
when she was 18.
So he was really only eightyears younger than me or older
than me.
So you know, he felt like acousin more than an uncle, and
so he would come home after hisnights of drinking.
But Jenny and I were still toolittle, we obviously weren't
(30:35):
drinking and we'd be sleepingover at Grandma and Grandpa's
house and he'd come home and, oh, he'd do all kinds of crazy
crap to us.
But he loved Depeche Mode.
So you know, like you ever havelove of a band through just
sheer association, oh yeah, soUncle Keith loved Depeche Mode.
So I assume I love Depeche Mode.
I have no idea.
I remember him watching them onMTV at Grandma and Grandpa's
(30:57):
house.
You know he still lived at homebut my mom had us and so we
would go visit and cool, uncleKeith would be sitting there
listening to Depeche Mode on MTV.
Jay Franze (31:08):
Question of the day.
Let's jump into the question ofthe day.
What is currently your favoritesong?
I will say it one more timewhat is currently your favorite
song?
George Kenny, anybody else outthere tonight?
Please go ahead and let us know.
I am going to kick it off and Ihate saying it, but it's only
(31:31):
true.
Burn MF is the song that Ilisten to the most, even till
today.
So when I'm in the car on myway home and I say play a song,
that's what I'm saying to playfirst.
Tiffany Mason (31:43):
She knows, she
knows, she pulls it up for you,
does it she?
Jay Franze (31:47):
plays it.
But if I go past that song, let's go beyond that okay a song
that I've been listening toover and over again.
That is not, and I repeat, nota typical song that I would
listen to, but I find thisartist to be so amazingly
talented, even though everybodythat I recommended to tells me
(32:10):
I'm nuts.
And that is the artist, ren, inthe song hi ren did you play
this for me?
I did play it for him.
This is the song where he's in aroom by himself wearing a
hospital gown holding anacoustic guitar and he starts
(32:30):
playing a song that sounds airyand stuff, because it's a dimly
lit room in the video, and thenall of a sudden he starts
singing to himself back andforth with the different
personalities within his head.
So it is intense.
It is an intense song, and thenI follow that immediately up
(32:51):
with the song Cujo Beatdown, which is a song that he did in
response to a beat maker that hegot into a beef with.
Tiffany Mason (33:02):
Oh, interesting.
Jay Franze (33:03):
Yes, I'll give you
the cliff notes.
There's this beat maker in abeat making service.
This beat maker put his songinto that, or his beat into the
service.
Wren purchased the beat fromthe service.
This guy, cujo, says he didn'tpurchase it legally.
They went back and forth overthe internet, fought for months,
took it to court, all thisstuff fought over it and it was
(33:25):
a big deal and Ren actually justaired out all the dirty laundry
.
He made a video showing all thecomments, all the back and
forth emails and proved that hewas right.
And then he went and wrote asong about it called Cujo's
Beatdown.
That's a tough one, but it wasawesome.
It was awesome to see thecreativity in this man so not
(33:49):
typically my style of music but, dear God, I love both those
songs.
How about you?
Tiffany Mason (33:54):
What do you
listen to these days?
Well, mine's a little on thesofter side, Jay.
Jay Franze (33:59):
Not as twisted as I
am right now Speaking of not
twisted but twisted.
I've been listening to theirmusic quite a bit these days.
Tiffany Mason (34:09):
Well, I would
definitely tune into that song
again.
I was not just being polite, Ireally was disappointed that it
was done.
It was a good song.
It's a great song.
Dark thoughts.
Yeah.
So the song that I would chooseright now is called Country
House.
Hannah and I were in a paneradrive-thru and this song came on
and I was like hannah shazamthis right now, and she was like
(34:30):
okay, mom, she knows, she knowswhat's coming next.
Jay Franze (34:33):
So she says shazams
it.
Tiffany Mason (34:34):
I'm like send me
that song now.
She's like I know I alreadysent it to you, so well, okay,
so let's, let's back up thatstory even more, though I heard
the song and then I asked siri, hey, siri, play sam hunt's
latest song.
Jay Franze (34:47):
Oh, lady on the
phone.
Tiffany Mason (34:49):
Oops, I know see
I know, I thought my phone was
gonna pick it up.
She didn't.
She's sleep.
She's sleep at the wheel shedoesn't pay attention to you
either so I was trying to figureit out and then I was like like
Hannah, look up on your phone.
And so she looks it up and itkept saying like different,
different songs, but I knew itwas by Sam Hunt.
So then when it came on then Iwas like Shazam, this, I want
(35:12):
this song.
So then she said it to me but Ijust like that, um, you know,
sam Hunt has that like talk, sing kind of songs.
So instead of talking heactually goes a little bit fast
and he's like you can let yourhair down.
And I think that when he saysthat really fast, like you can
let your hair down, I just lovethat part of it.
But I also love that he'stalking about he wants to live
(35:33):
in a country house with her andyou know he's going to mow the
lawn with his shirt off and mowlittle squares around their bean
patch and I just think it'slike the cutest quintessential.
You know I'm gonna take thislittle lady home and love her
for the rest of my life.
Song.
And I grew up like in thesticks of Iowa so we had a
lawnmower that we, you know,drove.
(35:54):
Our dad made us mow the lawn, but you know that we got to
drive right drive to thesupermarket.
Yeah, so I just I think it's alittle little nostalgic for me
and my sister always said I wanta house on the hill, I want to
get married and I want to livein a house on the hill and I
don't know, we just had littlecountry girl dreams, I guess,
and so it plays into that alittle bit.
But you know also Sam Hunt, great voice, and Hannah is in
(36:17):
her Sam Hunt era right now.
So you know anything I can doto play in and connect, but the
song did catch my ear.
Jay Franze (36:25):
All right.
Well, I enjoyed the song aswell.
Tiffany Mason (36:28):
Thanks, Jay.
Seal of approval from both.
Jay Franze (36:31):
Well, don't get
carried away, All right.
George says Jefferson StarshipRunaway.
It's going back a little ways,but I'll take it.
Tiffany Mason (36:42):
It's your
favorite song right now.
Let me tell you a littlesomething.
Jay Franze (36:45):
Uh-oh.
Tiffany Mason (36:46):
I did this thing
over the weekend.
Did it hurt?
No, it was very good.
How does that song go now?
It's a Karen Carpenter song.
Oh, I'm on top of the worldlooking down on creation.
Anyway, I played that song likeabout seven times in a row but
(37:08):
I was like, well, it's not yourmost frequently played song,
it's your favorite song rightnow.
So I couldn't pick that one.
But that's why I'm questioningJefferson Starship this is your
favorite song right now.
Jay Franze (37:16):
George Tiffany just
questioned you.
This is the one you say is yourfavorite?
Tiffany Mason (37:20):
she just
questioned you.
Jay Franze (37:20):
This is the one you
say is your favorite.
She just questioned you All,right, well, alex, alex says
Tennessee Whiskey by ChrisStapleton.
Tiffany Mason (37:31):
Ooh.
Jay Franze (37:34):
Mm-hmm.
George says is she fired?
I can go with that.
Heck, no Tiffany you're fired.
There you go.
Sara Higgins (37:44):
George.
Tiffany Mason (37:48):
I like it.
It's a lot george brianna.
Jay Franze (37:51):
Brianna says you
belong to me by one miss taylor
swift like me some taylor swift.
Tiffany Mason (38:01):
I could pick any
taylor swift song and say it's
my favorite right now.
I love all of her stuff.
You.
Jay Franze (38:05):
You know I'm a fan,
I'm a Swifty.
Why not?
Tiffany Mason (38:10):
If you're turning
into the Jay Francis Joe,
you've got two Swifties there,I've got some Swifties.
Jay Franze (38:16):
James, james' Simple
man by Leonard Skinner.
Tiffany Mason (38:21):
I interviewed a
man about that song and ever
since that interview I reallylike that song look at you it's
a good interview.
Jay Franze (38:28):
Carlos, we have a
Carlos listening to us.
Carlos says Red.
Dirt Road by Brooks and DunnBrooks and Dunn we discussed
them last week that episodereleased today, if you want to
go back and listen to it.
Shameless plug.
We mentioned Bohemian Rhapsodyearlier by Queen.
(38:49):
Custom last week.
That episode released today Ifyou want to go back and listen
to it.
Shameless plug.
We mentioned Bohemian Rhapsodyearlier by Queen.
Melissa says that is her go-toright now.
I have the multi-tracks to thatsong here at the house.
I know you probably don't knowwhat that means, right?
A multi-track is the originalrecording of the song.
So as the band went in andrecorded it in the studio, they
recorded it on separate tracks.
So I have those separate tracks, which means that I can pull it
(39:12):
up and listen to each thingindividually.
Tiffany Mason (39:15):
It's a very, very
cool thing.
Anybody can just buy that.
Jay Franze (39:19):
No, no that is
something you have to get from
somebody who is part of thatproject or within the industry.
It's a very cool thing.
Tiffany Mason (39:28):
You have special
credentials.
Jay Franze (39:30):
I have something
special.
For sure, we don't quite knowwhat it is yet, but I have
something special, jordan saystake it easy by the Eagles, took
the words right out of my mouthNice, I'm not going to go left.
I'm not going to do it.
Jordan, take it Easy by theEagles.
We were talking about theEagles earlier, at the Sphere
with Vince Gill Hannah, you'reHannah.
Tiffany Mason (39:56):
You better be in
bed, girl.
Jay Franze (39:59):
Blue Ain't your
Color by Keith Urban.
Tiffany Mason (40:03):
Oh, that's a good
song.
Jay Franze (40:05):
Yeah, keith Urban,
oh that's a good song, yeah,
keith.
Tiffany Mason (40:11):
Urban could not
possibly be a nicer artist.
Jay Franze (40:12):
I don't know if I
told you that he was the very
first person I worked with whenI moved to Nashville.
Tiffany Mason (40:17):
Oh no, I didn't
know that.
Jay Franze (40:18):
And he was so nice.
I worked with him and PhilVassar and Keith Urban was just
the nicest guy ever.
Thank, keith.
His wife was very nice too.
I met her at some of the awardshows the nicole kinman yes, she
was very nice as they pulled upin their two-door bentley,
their sports bentley, fivehundred thousand dollar vehicle,
(40:41):
ran over my foot and didn'teven say hello.
Anyways, tony, tony says hotelcalifornia by the eagles.
There's a hotel in californiacalled the hotel california I
think I knew that I used todrive by.
Thank you for reminding mymemory kate says and Jolene.
(41:04):
By one, miss Dolly Parton,mm-hmm.
Ah, michael Michael buddy, he'sgot a few, but one of them is
Five Finger Death Punch.
But he's going with Wash it AllAway, which is a great song by
(41:25):
them.
Yes, five Finger Death Punch, wash it All Away.
Tiffany Mason (41:28):
Pardon me if I
don't know their collection.
You should know theircollection, the one was a lot,
the one was a lot, the one isprobably one of the heavier ones
that you could have picked.
Okay.
Jay Franze (41:41):
They have a few
songs out that they have one
called the Wrong Side of Heavenwhich is kind of like their
commercial hit.
It's kind of a ballad-y typesong, Very patriotic, so you
would like it.
Tiffany Mason (41:53):
Maybe my delicate
ears could handle it.
Jay Franze (41:55):
Well, you would like
it.
It's a pretty intense video too.
They support the troops, soit's a.
Marine-based video.
Tiffany Mason (42:03):
I think you would
like it a lot, I think so all
right, michael, let's see whatelse you say.
Jay Franze (42:07):
You say volbeat,
lola montez, volbeat being the
band, lola montez being the songthe song extreme being the band
rise being the song van halen5150 I almost bought a van halen
record.
Tiffany Mason (42:24):
This weekend I
was out of the thrift shop again
and I saw the Van Halen.
I almost did, but then I didn'tpull the trigger.
I bought Easter decorationsinstead.
Jay Franze (42:34):
Oh yeah, that makes
more sense, that now that tracks
.
But which um which Van Halen's?
Tiffany Mason (42:39):
don't ask.
Jay Franze (42:40):
Don't, don't ask.
Michael also says journey faithin the heartland, toto, after
you're gone, and he follows thatup with.
Well, I obviously can't decide.
Oh, garrett garrett landers, previous guest on the show, so I
will use his last name, garrettlanders.
He is the guitar player forbritney's lipstick and he is
(43:03):
also now playing guitar with IP6.
Tiffany Mason (43:07):
Oh, there you go.
Jay Franze (43:08):
He says Huey Lewis
and the News Power of Love.
Tiffany Mason (43:12):
That's the power
of love.
Jay Franze (43:14):
Good choice.
I like it.
Tiffany Mason (43:16):
Can I ask you a
question really quick?
Sure, michael, was he the onelast week that said I'm sorry.
What am I supposed to do here?
Jay Franze (43:24):
No, but that would
be cool.
No, last week.
That said, I'm sorry, what am Isupposed?
Tiffany Mason (43:31):
to do here.
Jay Franze (43:31):
No, but that's cool,
no um michael is giving us
responses each week.
He is okay.
He's not the one that said I'msorry, what am I supposed to do?
But that was a funny one.
I like that.
Eddie ray, eddie ray saysic byWill Mosley.
And then Misty Misty chimed inlast week and she said Hailstorm
.
She said Lizzy Hale her bestfemale singer oh shoot, I just
(43:55):
wiped it right off the.
I washed it all away.
Misty says Hailstorm Chemicals, but she says they're acoustic
performance.
She's very specific with whatshe's listening to.
Tiffany Mason (44:06):
I'll say well,
clearly it makes her feel
something.
That would be my guess because, when you say the specific
version that one talked to younice rachel says rainbow by
casey Musgraves.
Oh.
Jay Franze (44:26):
Andrew says Free.
Fallin' by Tom Petty.
Tiffany Mason (44:29):
Yeah, I'm free.
Jay Franze (44:30):
Sam says American
Girl by Tom Petty.
Tiffany Mason (44:34):
You probably
don't know this, but in the
Gators Stadium, when they playfootball obviously well, I guess
they could play other sportswhen they play football, they
play that Tom Petty song and theentire stadium sings it.
It's the coolest.
I love it.
Jay Franze (44:51):
It's kind of like
sweet Caroline for the Boston
Red Sox huh.
Yes or dirty water.
Love that dirty water Songabout the Charles River in
Boston.
They sing that at the Red Soxgames too.
George says Cody Johnson on myway to you.
Then he followed it up withsaying very new, so maybe you
(45:13):
could leave him alone now.
Tiffany Mason (45:17):
I love it, did he
say, so maybe she can leave me
alone now no, he said very youadded that.
Jay Franze (45:23):
I added this so you
could leave him alone.
Tyler says Sweet Child of Mine, guns N' Roses, yes.
Chris says Born to Run BruceSpringsteen, oh, here you go.
Tiffany Mason (45:35):
Tina says
Strawberry Wine by Dina Carter,
oh Nice.
It always makes me think ofBoone's Farms, which I think is
kind of the point.
But were you a Boone's Farmsfan?
Jay Franze (45:47):
No, I don't know
what that is.
Tiffany Mason (45:50):
It was
quote-unquote wine, but it was
basically a wine bottle that hadone big wine cooler in it and
not much alcohol to it.
Jay Franze (45:59):
I'm glad I don't
know what it is then.
Tiffany Mason (46:01):
Yeah, it's like
beginner beginner.
Jay Franze (46:03):
It started to make
me feel bad.
No, don't feel bad.
No, emma, she says.
Man, I feel like a woman.
Well, emma, you're allowed toidentify as a woman these days.
Oh wait, no, you mean by shaniatwain.
Okay, I got it.
Emma, man, I feel like a woman, shania twain, logan fortress.
Sun by creed is clearwaterrevival.
Tiffany Mason (46:25):
Logan Fortress
Sun by Creedist Clearwater.
Jay Franze (46:26):
Revival not used to
saying that spelled out like
that, it's usually CCR.
Chloe Better man by Little BigTown oh.
Mike Living on a Prayer by BonJovi.
I used to like that song a lot.
I used to be a big fan of BonJovi and then at some point it
stopped.
I don't know what it was.
We talked about it once on theshow before.
(46:48):
The difference between likecountry artists writing songs
and you know they go to artistsand then those artists sing
those songs and stuff.
You know that was theconnection between the musician
and the songs.
And then rock artists theywrote the songs so they live
with those songs and theyperform those songs live.
And rock artists they wrote thesongs so they lived with those
songs and they performed thosesongs live.
And I think once Bon Jovi kindof crossed the line and switched
(47:09):
to writing with Nashvillewriters to me that's when I lost
, kind of like that, almost arespect for him.
I liked it better when they werewriting their own songs and
doing their own thing, and Iused to think he was one of the
best songwriters around.
Tiffany Mason (47:28):
I don't think he
needed to go to Nashville to
write with pros, probably arecord label said hey, Guess
what you're doing yeah, becausehe probably liked writing them
himself as well.
I would hope so.
Jay Franze (47:42):
Haley says she's in
love with the boy.
By Trisha Yearwood.
Tiffany Mason (47:46):
She's in love
with the boy.
Jay Franze (47:49):
Kyle says don't stop
believing by Journey.
Journey was always my favoriteband.
So that's where we're going tostop.
Tiffany Mason (48:01):
Thank you, Kyle.
Thank you, Kyle for the end.
All right, Well, we're going totalk about Miss Nikki Glaser.
She hosted the Golden Globes.
The 2025 Golden Globescontinues to generate chatter
after her sharp, fearlessperformance.
Did you see any clips from theGolden Globes?
Jay Franze (48:23):
Well, I saw some of
her performance.
Tiffany Mason (48:26):
I mean.
Jay Franze (48:27):
I don't know if you
saw it, but probably my favorite
was her two opening jokes.
She comes out and says you know, welcome to the 82nd Golden
Globes, oh, zempik's biggestnight.
I was just like that.
Couldn't have just summed it upany better right there.
It's like you know, we're beingsponsored by big farmers, so
let's just go ahead and say itright now, right out of the gate
(48:48):
.
I mean, she's fearless.
She's known as a roast comedian.
She is fearless.
There could not have been abetter opening joke than
Ozempic's Bigger Night.
Tiffany Mason (49:00):
It's like a mic
drop.
Jay Franze (49:01):
But then she
followed it up with saying you
know, if you're on CBS hello, ifyou're on Paramount Plus,
you've got six days left tocancel your subscription.
So I'm like, oh, there you go.
So she gets pretty harsh.
Tiffany Mason (49:19):
But no, I like
her a lot.
We checked out a comedian, shane Gillis, on Netflix over
the weekend.
This guy I don't even know howhe gets on stage and like still
faces people.
He said he just crossed so manylines and at first I was like,
oh, I can't listen to this.
And then I was like let's giveit a chance.
(49:39):
It was a friend recommendationso I'm like, okay, let me give
it a chance.
And then there were some partsthat were pretty darn funny and
had us laughing pretty hard.
And then he would go to thenext topic and it would just be
cutthroat again.
You're just like, oh my gosh, like you just could not believe.
So similar, although it soundslike she's ripping on like big,
(50:00):
big companies.
Jay Franze (50:01):
Oh yeah, she's got
no fear.
No fear whatsoever.
Tiffany Mason (50:04):
This guy was
ripping on like ethnic
populations.
Sounds like something she woulddo?
Oh, it would Okay.
Yeah.
Yeah, there was, there weresome pretty sketchy things and I
was like okay, so I made itthrough one, one presentation
and I think one will do it.
There you go.
Go back to Nate Borgazzi.
Jay Franze (50:28):
Nate Borgazzi or
Borgazzi.
Tiffany Mason (50:31):
Borgazzi, however
you say it, yes.
Jay Franze (50:34):
Apparently, we've
established we're not good at
names.
Tiffany Mason (50:39):
It's okay.
Jay Franze (50:41):
Who's that other
dude?
You keep messing with me with.
Tiffany Mason (50:45):
Kahan.
Jay Franze (50:45):
Kahan, noah kahan
kahan and then you busted my
cookies on selene dion and youbusted my cookies on sarah.
Tiffany Mason (50:55):
I got it I'm not
busting your cookies on sarah, I
just genuinely like how itsounds.
My daughter sarah sarabella.
Yeah, I can't say it, but I dolove it and I have a friend from
rhode island and some like howit sounds my daughter Sarah,
sarah, bella yeah, I can't sayit, but I do love it.
And I have a friend from RhodeIsland and some of the things
she says too, I love any accentbut I like to try to imitate it.
Jay Franze (51:14):
A minute ago I was
special.
Now you're comparing me to yourfriend and anybody else that
has an accent.
Tiffany Mason (51:20):
No, you're the
only Bostonian, so I don't have
any other Bostonians, see you'rethe only Bostonian, so I don't
have any other Bostonians.
Fair enough, see, you're stillvery special, jay, I'm special.
All right, let me stroke yourmale ego, it's okay.
Jay Franze (51:31):
My wife did that to
me today.
She went to the doctor and thedoctor was talking to her and
she was talking about whateveryou know follow up or check up
or this or that, asking her ifshe had a tube up her ass or
whatever the hell theconversation was about.
And then she said how aboutyour husband?
Or is he a typical man?
I'm like?
Well, thank you, you too, eventhe damn doctor's picking on me?
(51:55):
I never met the damn doctor.
Wow, sorry, rant over.
Tiffany Mason (51:58):
What a crappy
question.
My wife went along with it Wasthe doctor.
Jay Franze (52:03):
No, he's a typical
man.
Yep, jennifer, my wife wentalong with it Was the doctor.
Tiffany Mason (52:09):
No, he's a
typical man, jennifer, jennifer,
okay, moving right along, moving, mr Bill Mayer.
Mar.
Mar, that's what I said.
Bill Mar.
Oh yeah, that's right.
Jay Franze (52:19):
That's what you said
.
Tiffany Mason (52:19):
Before you
establish.
We're not good with names.
Jay Franze (52:22):
We're not good with
names, but ones we hear every
day we might want to.
Not good with names, we're notgood with names, but ones we
hear every day.
Tiffany Mason (52:25):
We might want to
be good with all right, so he
accept an invitation to thewhite house.
He typically doesn't lean red,he doesn't, he doesn't bleed red
, so it was nice.
It was nice to see him.
I don't think he does noweither.
But I guess he actually haddecent things to say about the
(52:49):
president.
Jay Franze (52:50):
I don't know if you
had a chance to see his own
personal recap, but he did.
He gave a personal recap.
He came back and did amonologue about it, talking
about going there and how hestarts off.
Don't worry, I didn't go thereand become a Trumper or anything
like that.
But he did say that the personyou see in private is much
(53:13):
different than the person yousee in public when it comes to
Trump.
And he said that he was a manthat was willing to listen, that
he didn't just say it was hisway or anything.
He said when he talked to himhe was willing to listen.
And not only that.
He also said, when he waspoking fun at him, that Trump
laughed with him.
He didn't get upset over it oranything like that.
(53:33):
Trump made a comment like, oh,you probably turned this into a
joke and they laughed.
I think it was.
Bill Maher had a list of allthe things that he said about
Trump at one point or another.
And he had Trump sign it.
So all the things that he saidabout Trump at one point or
another, and he had Trump signit, and Trump signed it with no
problem.
He said it was a very goodvisit, a very good conversation,
and the man was willing tolisten.
(53:55):
And he even asked Bill Maherwhat his opinions were on
certain things and how he wouldaddress certain things.
And he said he asked himlegitimately, wanting to know
his answer.
So like he wanted to see ifthere was a way he could apply
that way of thinking.
So I think, whether you loveTrump, hate Trump, whether
(54:16):
you're left, whether you'reright, it's good when people are
willing to have a dialogue andtalk.
Tiffany Mason (54:21):
I think we talked
about bringing it up, but I
don't think we actually broughtit up that they are allowing if
you have a podcast that is ofpolitical content on the normal,
that you are allowed in thepress room, and I just feel like
he's one of the moretransparent principals
presidents that we've had.
He's running a school buildingvery well.
Jay Franze (54:46):
Yes, I put in for
our credentials.
We haven't received them yetbut as soon as we do?
I will let you know.
Tiffany Mason (54:51):
Because we do
deliver some very hard-hitting
news and it would be beneficialfor us to be in that press room.
Yes, mr Jeff Dunham talkingcancel cultures decline.
And immediately when I saw thatheadline, I was like, oh well,
it's probably because Trump isin.
And then, sure enough, thefollow up is he told Fox News
(55:11):
that Trump's reelection signalsa blow to cancel culture,
suggesting comedians can nowjoke more freely, which has
ignited debates in comediancircles.
Ignited debates in comediancircles, which I wonder if that
is why, mr shane gillis, although I think that his
material was older than trump'selection, but sure, yeah, I feel
(55:31):
like people doesn't that.
Show his side, though, when billmurr's mar mayor, mayor.
Bill Maher,ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma,
ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma, bill Maher, when he goes in and he says that
Trump signed the hits on him orwhatever.
You know like everybody loosenup a little bit.
(55:54):
You know like we don't need tobe so sensitive and if it does
bother you look the other way, keep scrolling, move on.
You know like like noteverything has to be taken so
seriously.
Or you know like take things alittle bit more funny for what
they really are, you know.
Jay Franze (56:09):
Well, as somebody
who's spent a little bit of time
on stage, I can tell you that Iwouldn't want to be limited and
that my sense of humor, whileit might not be political, it
still pushes on everybody and Iwouldn't want somebody to take
offense to something.
I would say yeah, and you know, when I go to a comedy show,
even the comedians I listen to.
(56:31):
You know they're rough, theydon't go easy on people.
They're not telling your youknow your Jerry Steinfeld style
jokes of you know they'rethey're hitting hard.
And that's what makes it funnywhen you can hit the truth and
hit it hard and laugh about it.
That's what we need to do.
We need to be laughing.
That's why I think Nikki Glaserhitting you know, opening up
(56:53):
with the Ozempic joke, andthings like that, it's funny,
it's funny because it's true, and we should be able to laugh
at it.
You know it is what it is.
Tiffany Mason (57:03):
I think sometimes
when comedians go after
stereotypes, they're funnybecause they're kind of true.
I mean, where do they come from?
There's some truth in them, sadly, but true it is what it is
and none of us get away withnot having stereotypes about
whatever ethnic race you're with.
Jay Franze (57:22):
I get stereotyped
myself.
Tiffany Mason (57:25):
Stereotyps,
whatever, whatever your
stereotypes are doing okay, butthat brings us to another story
tell story we could not go fromkid.
Jay Franze (57:48):
Never had mono dick.
Tiffany Mason (57:50):
I had mono.
What Are we talking aboutstereotypes, about mono dick?
Jay Franze (58:10):
Stereotypes on mono
dick.
Tiffany Mason (58:12):
Last week you
told us it was a long story.
Jay Franze (58:17):
It was a long story
An inch and a half short at
least.
Tiffany Mason (58:23):
It's not very
long.
That's why your wife said he'sa typical man.
Jay Franze (58:27):
That's right oh, up
until last week I thought an
inch and a half was bigdifferences it makes all the
same feeling to me nice, so youare a typical man, okay, yeah,
yeah.
Tiffany Mason (58:42):
Well, we're
talking about how, like you know
, be more easygoing.
Take the joke.
It's not that big of a deal,right?
But we did discover that thereis an Australian comedian who
has decided to cancel becauseshe's worried about the
potential backlash for jokesabout President Trump sparking
discussion about comedy and freespeech in current climates.
(59:04):
Right, because everyone's sosensitive.
Jay Franze (59:09):
Yeah, it's an
Australian comedian.
She's canceling her tour to theUS because she's afraid that
some of the jokes won't go overand she doesn't want to be part
of it.
Tiffany Mason (59:18):
They probably
would go over.
Jay Franze (59:20):
Yeah, they'd
probably go over.
I mean, they go over more herethan they would in Australia.
I would think so too.
Australia has a very good senseof humor.
I mean, that's where I went toschool.
So I went to school at theUniversity of Queensland.
Tiffany Mason (59:32):
I did not know
that.
Jay Franze (59:34):
Yes, I went to
school, you shut the front door.
Tiffany Mason (59:37):
Shut the front
door.
Jay Franze (59:38):
I went for my
Master's in business leadership
at the University of Queenslandin Brisbane, Australia, and they
have a very, very good sense ofhumor when it comes to things
like that.
They're very American-like andI don't think there'd be an
issue at all with this woman'ssense of humor.
Tiffany Mason (59:58):
Well, also, don't
you know the comedian before
you buy the ticket?
Jay Franze (01:00:02):
Yeah Well, you'd
hope so.
I mean, and I'll tell you too.
I mean I've listened to a, alot of the comedians like from
from london and some of theothers from europe.
That hit on us hard, I meanthey, because I mean we like it
or not.
We're kind of a laughing stockright now, yeah, and and people
are laughing at us, but we haveto be able to laugh with them,
(01:00:24):
otherwise, again, it is what itis.
Tiffany Mason (01:00:28):
I know Sometimes
it's like so bad all you can do
is laugh yeah, move on, get overit, people there you go Stop
canceling your comedy tour.
We need a laugh over here.
Get your ass over here.
We need a laugh.
Jay Franze (01:00:40):
She.
We need to laugh.
She looks rough.
Tiffany Mason (01:00:42):
She looks scared.
I'm not a fan of people whoaren't confident.
You should be confident and getover here and tell your jokes
yeah, yeah, jay and I are comingafter you.
No, no, we won't, we'll hiresomebody to do it.
Jay Franze (01:00:57):
We can't do it
ourselves.
Look at us.
What can we do?
Tiffany Mason (01:01:03):
I'll tell you
what we couldn't do, Jay, I
don't think I could go intospace.
I don't think I could get inthe spaceship and do that little
.
Not even get in the spaceship.
I don't think I could pass thepreliminary test.
Jay Franze (01:01:16):
You don't think you
could hold the sunflower or
dandelion.
Tiffany Mason (01:01:20):
No, and the
minute they closed the little
spaceship door I would lose it.
I have to know I can get out ofwhatever I'm doing.
It's not so much the closedspace, it's that I don't have an
escape.
I can be in a.
You can put me in a littleteeny, tiny tube like this big.
I'm fine until I know I can'tget out.
(01:01:41):
Then we're not cool.
That's my panic button can doit.
Jay Franze (01:01:48):
I assume you're
talking about the trip to space.
I am talking about this trip tospace well, do you know the
people who are in it?
Tiffany Mason (01:01:57):
I only know Katy
Perry.
Oh wait, I know one otherperson.
I can't come up with their nameright now.
Jeff Bezos' wife would love it.
Jay Franze (01:02:03):
I cannot tell you
I'd have to kill you.
Tiffany Mason (01:02:06):
Oh, that's cool.
Jay Franze (01:02:08):
Did you hear any of
the footage from them talking?
No, people were making fun ofthe things that they were saying
.
I was like, really, this iswhat we're going to do.
These people are going intospace.
Well, they didn't go to realspace, they only went to the
edge of space.
It's like they went up in arocket.
When was the last time you tooka trip in a rocket?
Tiffany Mason (01:02:28):
They said they're
going to do it again next year.
Jay Franze (01:02:31):
But they were
complaining and bitching about
it that you know they only wentup to the edge of space.
They were only inweightlessness for three and a
half minutes.
It's like okay, they didn'teven enjoy the three and a half
minutes that they were up inspace floating around.
They didn't take that in, theywere.
They didn't even look out thewindow, they were just talking.
(01:02:51):
It's like what do?
you expect them to do.
I mean, if you listen to the,to the audio of it as they're
going, I mean they were asexcited as can be.
They were all laughing andhaving a great time.
If they weren't doing that, ifthey were just sitting there
stone-faced looking out thewindow, you'd be like what
they're not enjoying themselves.
Tiffany Mason (01:03:07):
Yeah, you'd
always have something to
complain about.
I mean, Jeepers.
Jay Franze (01:03:11):
Just like you just
said you didn't go on a rocket,
I wouldn't do it.
Tiffany Mason (01:03:15):
There's still a
lot of science behind it.
They still could go blow up.
Jay Franze (01:03:24):
Oh yeah, go blow up,
they could still not return
correctly.
I'm not doing, I mean there'splenty of danger in it.
Tiffany Mason (01:03:27):
You could ask me
tomorrow yeah, you could pay for
me to go do it.
I don't want to do it.
No, there's no publicity, there's no social media post,
there's no song, there's nonothing that could come from it.
That would be like that's agreat idea.
Jay Franze (01:03:41):
You know what,
though it'd probably be a good
segment for us, why don't you goahead and do it?
We'll film it.
We'll air it on one of ourupcoming episodes.
George, can you make thathappen for us?
Please make a phone call.
Tiffany Mason (01:03:54):
Well, let's
decide this.
Would it be fun to hear mecrying, completely losing it and
counting in for a three countbreath and out for seven count
breath yes, that'd be fun, so mysheer terror says he'll do his
best would be.
He's always there for us, man.
Jay Franze (01:04:16):
George just
supporting us in all the ways
I'm telling you.
George has my vote for, forassociate producer or field
producer or something.
We've got to give George atitle and bring him on the show.
Tiffany Mason (01:04:28):
He got a pretty
sweet shirt recently yeah.
Jay Franze (01:04:31):
He sent us a video.
Yeah, did he send you the video.
Tiffany Mason (01:04:35):
He did send me
the video.
It was looking sharp.
Jay Franze (01:04:38):
Tiffany, you can cry
before the launch.
Tiffany Mason (01:04:42):
Yep, she could
Cry before during and after oh,
cry during yeah, and I will wearDepends.
Jay Franze (01:04:50):
It all depends.
I don't need Depends.
It's going to be everywhere.
It's going to be floatingaround.
Whole new meaning to the wordfloater.
Tiffany Mason (01:04:58):
Wait list for
three minutes.
Folks, get ready to see JayFranzi as the opening act of the
next headlining comedian comingto your town soon.
Tiffany, you're fired.
I was telling people to lookfor you.
Jay Franze (01:05:20):
Sorry.
Tiffany Mason (01:05:22):
I don't think
you're sorry.
I don't think you're sorry.
I don't think you're sorry.
Jay Franze (01:05:25):
I don't buy it.
Don't, don't buy it.
It's not worth anything.
Tiffany Mason (01:05:31):
Well, I have a
new episode coming out Memories
with.
Women.
Making.
Memories to a Beat.
No, no, no.
Jay Franze (01:05:39):
Tell me about this
episode.
What episode do you have comingout?
Keep me from going left.
Tiffany Mason (01:05:43):
Well, my little
friend Rachel and I, we went
down to Villano Beach, which isjust I don't know, maybe 20
minutes south, and went to arooftop bar, saw a group that
she was familiar with calledVegas Gray, and it is an
acoustic trio, although whatmakes something acoustic?
Just, they didn't have drums, but they had everything,
everything else, so I don'tthink they're very acoustic
(01:06:05):
acoustic instruments acousticguitar, acoustic bass okay and a
lynn things that you don't plugin, got it okay?
well, they had those things andit is a dad, a daughter and the
daughter's boyfriend and we werejoking, mm-hmm, hope the
daughter and the daughter'sboyfriend and we were joking
(01:06:25):
hope the daughter and theboyfriend don't break up,
because then the band breaks up,sucks, yeah.
So they were all really good.
Uh, we had a really good time.
Fun little drinks that herscame in a glass, glass mug,
glass jar, whatever.
That was in the shape of a fish.
It was super cute and you couldsee the and you could see the
ocean and you could see thebridge that goes over to
(01:06:47):
Anastasia Island and it was just, it was just great ambiance and
so we broke that down andtalked about that and they
played all the good oldies, butthe ones that aren't overplayed,
like you expect to hear all theones on like the A list, but
they were playing like the Dlist or whatever.
So it was still songs.
You knew a whole bunch, butthey just weren't over-covered,
(01:07:07):
if that makes sense.
Jay Franze (01:07:08):
Oh, yes, it does.
Tiffany Mason (01:07:10):
Mm-hmm, they were
good.
Jay Franze (01:07:12):
I listened to the
episode.
It was very good.
Tiffany Mason (01:07:15):
Thank you.
I'm questioning myself oh, oh,that one did just get released
okay, that so.
So tomorrow is going to beactually so your story doesn't
hold water.
Jay Franze (01:07:30):
Is what you're
trying to, no?
Tiffany Mason (01:07:31):
no, it doesn't.
No, it's got a lot of holes init.
Instead, you can look forwardto an interview from katrina so
scratch this one.
Jay Franze (01:07:40):
No, actually don't
scratch it, it's still there.
It's there.
It's the one that's releasednow.
Apparently there's going to beanother one released tomorrow
Tomorrow.
All right, tell us about thatone Hasta mañana.
Tiffany Mason (01:07:52):
I think that's
what it is.
Jay Franze (01:07:53):
See you tomorrow.
Tiffany Mason (01:07:56):
Oh, okay, just
mañana.
Tomorrow she actually runs amusic school down here here and
we got to talk about one of herfavorite songs and she was just
an overall awesome person andgreat conversation and I really
didn't want to stop talking toher.
You ever have those interviewswhere you're like I don't know?
(01:08:16):
Well, I guess we do.
We have them all the time wherewe're on here for hour and a
half, two hours.
No, I'm saying it as a goodthing, like you just want to
keep talking, george.
Jay Franze (01:08:24):
That keeps me here
thanks.
Tiffany Mason (01:08:29):
We talked about
amazing grace.
Jay Franze (01:08:32):
It was good I also
went back and listened to your
cersei episode as well, whichwas also very good what do you
have up for episodes?
Tiffany Mason (01:08:39):
who'd you talk to
lately?
Jay Franze (01:08:40):
um, I've got a
couple this week.
Matt Drago we talked about himbriefly last week.
He has an upcoming show, buthis show released on Monday.
Matt Drago is an actor.
He was in a movie somewhere inMontana.
It was a good conversation.
It released this week.
It's doing well.
If you get a chance, check itout.
He was a nice guy.
And then this upcoming weekthis week I had a chance to talk
(01:09:08):
to andy gesner and his episodewill release on monday.
It's going to be a differentstyle of an episode, so check it
out.
He is a music marketingprofessional, so we talked about
how to market your music.
You can take that and apply itto anything, but we were talking
about music videos, which iswhat he specializes in.
He specializes in promotingmusic videos and he's worked
with everybody, including fivefinger death punch oh snap.
Tiffany Mason (01:09:31):
It was pretty
cool to have him on and hear
some of the stories he has aboutpromoting music videos when you
say music videos, did you guystalk about, like, pulling
shorter clips for social media,or did you just talk about
pulling shorter clips for socialmedia?
Or did you just talk about CMT?
No, we talked about it all.
Jay Franze (01:09:48):
Primarily he deals
in music videos, where we're
talking about getting them onMTV, cmt and all the music
channels.
Which is kind of interestingbecause he talked about a
gatekeeper that those servicesuse or those networks use.
They use a gatekeeper that youhave to finesse and send your
stuff to that gatekeeper.
So he's got the connection withthe gatekeeper.
(01:10:08):
So if you are the artist you'resending him your music, he gets
to the gatekeeper.
The gatekeeper then will get itonto the networks interesting.
I'm definitely catching thatepisode but he did also talk
about the short form video, because he also handles the
social media for these people,or at least it's one of the
(01:10:29):
services his company offers.
He probably doesn't do it foreverybody, but he talks about
breaking down the music videoand using that similar to the
way we would take a show andbreak it down for multiple
purposes he does that with thevideos, so they'll create lyric
