In a recent LinkedIn poll I conducted, nearly eight in ten respondents said they wanted a board role within the next five years. The allure is understandable. Board seats promise influence, intellectual challenge, and the prestige of shaping an organization’s future without the grind of day-to-day operations.
But there’s a catch. While the appetite for board roles is surging, the path to securing one remains opaque and, for many, deeply frustrating.
