Life throws curveballs, and boy, have I caught a few this year. Buckle up as I pull back the curtain on the seismic shifts that have rocked my world, from nocturnal work patterns to daylight disruptions, and how these twists and turns have shaped the narrative of our show. I’ll spill the beans on my whirlwind stint with a railroad company, the emotional rollercoaster with my ex-girlfriend, and how a knee surgery steered me into the waters of the pool business. Plus, I'll share the realities of financing a shiny new Toyota Tacoma, and the magic of manifestation that scored me Taylor Swift tickets.

Ever curious about the nuts and bolts behind those silky-smooth podcast voices? I'm peeling back the layers on the tech wizardry of an AI voice changer that's taken our audio game to new heights. And for those who love a good behind-the-scenes, I'll take you through my journey with digital platforms like YouTube Premium and Audible, my leap into content creation, and the unexpected connections made while navigating the podcasting universe. If you're ready to pivot with passion and dive into a mix of personal sagas and digital craftsmanship, this episode is your ticket.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, hello, hello.
It's been a time since I'vedone this.
Yeah, it's interesting.
So this is just going to belike a summary of 2023 for me,
really quick, and kind of likewhat I went through and kind of
like why I haven't been postingin a while, but also just like

(00:21):
my plan for the show and thereasons why I'm going to start
changing up a few things.
It's not anything bad, it'sjust things have changed for me
and I don't have the consistentscheduling like I used to when I
was working night shift as ajanitor, to have interviews in
the morning or even afternoonlately.

(00:43):
So it's, I'm going to switch upthe show and see what I can do,
where, where I can improve onthings.
So, first thing for 2023.
Beginning of the year, I got outof night shift.
That was huge, honestly.
I was doing night shift, doinglike I still do it.

(01:04):
I was in the night shift arenafor like four years I think four
and a half actually andessentially that was four years
of no sleep.
Near the tail end of nightshift, I met my ex.
Yeah, I met my ex and then wewere talking and all that and

(01:26):
all things, considering she waspretty considerate of my
sleeping schedules and all that.
And then I got an opportunitywith a railroad company.
I'm not going to mention thembecause I did sign a NDA and
something whatever a greenfinancial agreement that I would
owe money if they wanted fortraining me.

(01:49):
But it's a.
It's a decent, known railroadcompany.
So I drove out to Texas in mylittle Pontiac, stay there for a
month and was in the four starluxury suite.
I was getting trade on how todo the railroad, the rules.
I got all the certificationsfor the railroad.

(02:11):
It was great.
Then I come back to Californiabecause that's where all the
work was.
And suddenly there was dramaand eventually this company had
a very, I thought, strong sleeppolicy where if you work so many

(02:33):
days with so much, so manyhours, you got guaranteed rest.
All they did on her that and Iwas overworked and I slept
through my wake up call and theone manager said the whole time
we were training in Texas.
If you fuck up, it's okay, thisis your training period.
You're supposed to fuck up, soyou don't fuck up when you're

(02:55):
actually live and doing it.
Well, apparently I got firedfor oversleeping, and which
actually worked out for thebetter, as I talked to a couple
of the railroad guys in theAcademy group chat and someone
accidentally sent a trainthrough, and yeah, it was messy

(03:16):
and I was actually supposed togo to that exact place.
So I was like, okay, big plan, kind of thing, like God's got a
mission for me.
So I come back, and me and my exat the time she didn't like the
fact I disappeared for a monthand she couldn't really talk to
me and we were slightly gettingin arguments.

(03:36):
But then, when I got back, shejust like jumped, went full
koala mode on me and wouldn'tlet go, and I was like, oh,
that's cute, so I was been gonefor a month, kind of thing.
No, she didn't stop being fullof both, though, and eventually
there was there's series ofthree tries.
I had about three month gap inbetween.

(03:57):
The three month gap in between,I essentially kept saying I
don't want to be with you, but Iwas scared.
I didn't want her to killherself over the distress of me,
kind of thing.
So she in high were arguing andwe were going for the emotional

(04:18):
jugular.
We were just ripping eachother's egos apart, and after a
nasty one hour, like we wouldtalk about three different
topics and then come on to likethe fifth one, she repeat
herself and go back to the firsttopic.
So it was the hour of that, just the endless cycle, and I'm
like can't do this.

(04:40):
So, and at that time, during allthis, I was trying to teach her
about manifestation and allthat and how you can manifest
things in the literal world.
And so I asked her, mmm, threeweeks before it, yeah, I said
hey, if you could ask the airquote universe for a price, what

(05:04):
could you afford for a TaylorSwift concert ticket?
And she said 450 max, that'sabout one week's worth of pay.
I'll give up one week's worthof pay for a Taylor Swift
concert, if I can even get itfor that price.
Three weeks later she finds itand exactly after taxes, $450.
And so she was getting readyfor the Taylor Swift concert and

(05:27):
I fluently called her on thephone and we're stuck into her
like babe, this is awesome, thisis cool.
And somehow, and to this day,me and her Chatted afterwards
After the official done breakup.
I said do you even rememberwhat we were arguing about when
you went to Taylor Swift?
And she's like I Don't reallyremember.

(05:49):
And she's like I actually feellike I kind of started the
argument for some reason.
So, yeah, so that was a goodchunk of my time where I would
have normally been podcastingbut, me wanting, I would just
always finish my work and headover to her.
I'm time back to the railroad.

(06:09):
I got fired for that, and thenmy ex, but then my uncle was
recovering from a knee surgeryand from that knee surgery he
essentially trained me from thecouch yeah, he trained me from
the couch how to Essentially dopools.
So I've been doing pools withhim.

(06:31):
Because I bought a brand new2020 Toyota Tacoma fresh off of
the East kind of thing it's like.
Because I got was making thatriver of money a thousand
dollars a week for trading, training, my brains going way
too fast and the.
So the dealership just gave itto me essentially, and so I Was

(06:55):
having almost a thousand dollarpayments.
It was like $870 a month plus250 for insurance, and my gas
went up because it's a truck.
So I'm almost paying a thousandtwo hundred Just to maintain my
truck and that's what I wasearning.
Minimum wage for railroad.
That was one week's of pay, butyeah, so I it all worked out.

(07:19):
I am now I'm helping my unclewith his business and we're
growing it and all this stuffI've learned from this show.
Talking to people, I have beenshowing him and telling him and
he's actually been utilizing it.
He acts like he doesn't carebut he totally does.
And now for the part where it'shard for me to do Interviews

(07:42):
because of the unpredictabilityof being a fool guy, it's Hard
for me to commit to a set time, like this one guy.
I really feel bad for him.
I hate.
He was stuck in LA traffic andI was out in the field Doing

(08:03):
something with my uncle and Ijust told him like hey, is cool,
we could skip the second timeagain.
I was helping my uncle orsomething, and I actually had a
counsel on him because duringall the railroad to now I bought
this like $280 mic, usb mic,and it's really good.

(08:26):
I just my laptop, for somereason, won't read it, no matter
what I do.
So I literally just went outand bought hyper x quad.
Hyper x quad something.
It's the one with thechangeable color.
So I have a set to blue for mymicrophone, because that was a
big one.
I couldn't.

(08:46):
I have a AI software that I candictate into so I can say what
I think.
So when I do it correctly, Ican actually type like a
thousand words in under 15minutes, and I also have been
using otter, but I lost mylegacy package with that, so I
might look into getting speechdetects on App sumo with this

(09:10):
seems to be the same effect.
I'll tie all this ADHD run offit together in a second.
Um yeah, so I haven't been ableto consistently focus on
podcasting Her work.
Reasons ex-girlfriend wantingall my time from arguments to

(09:30):
just being tired here inCalifornia, when the heat comes
oh boy, does it come, but it'slike the same for Texas.
I was there during a heatwaveand tornadoes oh boy, but it was
like a dry heat.
I did not like that.
It's supposed to be a hugehumid heat and it was very dry.
Yeah, this this year has beenwell.

(09:54):
This year, as in 2023, has beenvery interesting.
I have recently actually Well.
After I broke up with my ex, Igot a call I'm going to like a
college for student therapistsand I'm going to get.
I'm getting therapy.
It's been ages since I've donethat and I realized, wow, I got

(10:15):
some emotional damage.
So that I've been also workingwith my therapists on different
things how to get better, how Iam.
I'm improving myself andself-worth and realizing this is
very important to me, thepodcasting and the video

(10:36):
creation for YouTube, but alsotrading futures contracts
extremely important to me.
So I'm prioritizing all those.
The one thing of those whofollow me consistently I have
been and I'm looking to get backinto it sitting in Marshall

(10:57):
Arch for 16 years and justCalifornia getting so expensive
the way it is.
I had to well, quit because ofthe railroad stay quit because
of the unpredictability of myjob as a cool guy.
But now that I'm starting toget more stable, I'm thinking of
reapplying.

(11:17):
I just miss the motivationalkick in the ass my Marshall Arch
instructor gives me.
I also just miss actuallypunching a body and not getting
in trouble for it too.
But it's also like the deeplymore spiritual aspect of

(11:38):
everything.
I like it.
It's not like the traditionalGod is person on the cloud.
You realize, once you get to acertain point, a certain
understanding of the art.
That is not like a joke andwhether like, oh, he can kill a

(12:00):
man with his thumb.
It's like no, literally I can'tkill a man with my thumb if I
really wanted to.
And that kind of power givesyou a strength, a confidence
about yourself that you can'tfake it.
It's like Jordan Peterson's Bea Monster, but a book controlled
anything.

(12:20):
Yeah, I might have quoted thatwrong.
Sorry, mr Peterson, if you everhear this, but it's true.
Like if you know how tobrutally hurt someone and you
could do it at any moment.
You choose not to because toomany systems would get ruined if
you do.
There's a power to that.
There's like a control and auraabout you.

(12:42):
You're like I can do this, Ijust choose not to.
So I'm looking into gettingback into Marshall Arch for that
too.
Now for the show I.
Because of the ability, theinability to schedule consistent

(13:02):
times for interviews, what I'mthinking of doing is not I
wouldn't say fully daily, butlike at least one mindful, maybe
business oriented, like aMonday and then Wednesdays,
maybe like books and likebecause I've read a lot of books

(13:23):
, so just different reviews ofthose and maybe talking about
the creative process, as metrying to write a story too, but
also kind of like mental health, and I'm an instigator by
nature, I'll admit it.
But there's a lot of people whodon't realize like certain

(13:49):
habits of certain people are badkind of thing, even if the
internet says they're good, it'slike no, it's extremely
detrimental and damaging.
And I want to even if I helpone person, I just want to help
someone get the courage.
I kind of use Mr Peterson as anexample.

(14:10):
A lot of his videos, especiallywhen I was in high school and
college, gave me a strength likewow, I'm not suffering alone,
like he sees this in other menand he's speaking out for it,
and that I gave me like a ropeto hold.

(14:30):
So I'm, I want to be that, thatrope for women and if women
learn from it too, and whoeverelse, like great.
But my, my main target is likemy little self, my high school
self that was cyber bully, picked on, kicked, attacked,

(14:51):
always forgot about in differentsports, until after they see
the talent and then they're likewe want Josh, and I think it's
just telling them like hey, it'sokay and that's so.
Recap that real quick.
Monday would be kind of likebusiness and mindset.
Wednesday would be kind of likebooks I've read summaries of

(15:13):
them, if it's worth getting ornot, and then maybe a little bit
of my creative process.
And like Friday would be likethe, the, I guess, mental health
of everything, and but otherthan that, I'm also wanting to

(15:35):
edit more videos.
I'm looking into some AIsoftware where I can just upload
Something like this and it'llactually just do a little cuts
of like stock videos and then dolike text overlay See if that
can work.
If not, I'll just figure out away, maybe like download steam

(15:56):
or something and play a videogame and then run that with this
, this audio in the background, with text overlay.
What I would have to besubscribed to Adobe Premiere,
but If it works, then I'll do itand just figure out ways to

(16:17):
optimize attention, how to makesure people are Are engaged in
learning.
Sounds cliche, but it's likethose reddit videos where
they're like playing Subwaysurfer or whatever trendy indie
game and the text overlay iskind of where I took the
inspiration from, because, like, there are many times I've

(16:38):
turned those Reddit stories onand just listen to, like women.
What have you done to tell aman you really wanted to do it
but he never got the signal kindof thing.
I'll just turn it on and then Iuse brave browser For those who
don't know, by the way, and Ieven paid by them.
It's great if you don't want topay for YouTube premium and

(16:59):
you're on iOS, for the Apple, you can download videos and
it'll just play in thebackground and Make sure you
have a lot of memory, by the way, because if you hit a big, big
song or like I listen tomanifestations as I sleep, it
will take like a gig, but ifit's like a 10 minute one, I

(17:19):
think it's like maybe 300 megsat max.
But so that's what I do.
I play, play it through bravebrowser and the great thing is
there's no ads, because there'sa really aggressive ad blocker
you can activate, and this isboth iOS and Android.
So, like YouTube does not giveyou any ads.

(17:40):
Actually, the comment sectioncan be blocked.
They're sharing, for socialmedia is blocked like literally,
it's just you in the video issweet, divine.
I'm recently paying for YouTubepremium because I want their
YouTube music.
As I work in the field on thePools, I like listening to lo-fi
and then With brave.

(18:00):
The only thing is, if you pauseit and then close the actual
app, but not like kill itthrough swiping up on iOS
because I was using it before Imoved back to my Android it
loses its spot.
So if you were like an hour 20minutes, anyone to pick up when
you were gone from it for toolong, it'll actually reset back
to zero.
First, that doesn't seem likeanything bad.

(18:22):
If you do it like seven times aday, it gets really annoying.
So I paid for YouTube premiumjust so my music stays on track.
And when I'm not listening tomusic, I listen to my audible
books.
I am, yeah, I have the twocredits a month for like 23
bucks a month.
I've been listening a lot oftheir free Well, eric will free

(18:47):
catalog with their paidsubscription stuff.
It's actually really good.
But yeah so, oh, so the back tothe redder thing the um.
Yeah, so I would watch it withthe Brave browser and all that
active.
And that's what gave me theidea oh, this would be really
good to incorporate and use, because then I I don't want to

(19:14):
play video games unless I have ajustifiable excuse.
So if I'm saying, oh, I'm usingthis for content for later on,
my brain won't beat me up and belike you, lazy piece of shit,
what are you doing?
Yeah, so sorry about that.
I was coughing pretty hard.
Uh, the um, it's just to trickmy brain like no, this is

(19:36):
productive, we're playing videogames, so people will watch our
content, kind of thing.
Um, I own Valhelm somewhere andI have like two Steam accounts.
One of them I got locked out of, but then I kind of got back in
, and then another one.
It's the same thing.
Steam is really unpredictablefor me.
Um, but yeah, I just it's justdifferent ideas.

(19:58):
I'm definitely going to beposting more on YouTube and
going with that and then alsolike with like, maybe like the,
the Friday ones, with themotivational, the health stuff.
Maybe I'll bust out my GoProand get a better mic, like if
they have the media mod for it,and set that up.

(20:19):
Maybe I'll go somewhere in mylocal Hills and set up and talk
and a thing.
Then, uh, yeah, I can just ripout the audio from that and put
it here or just record aseparate audio.
Who knows?
Um, yeah, I'm just, I'm excitedabout this process, so I'm
going to do that.

(20:40):
Uh, for the Josh Bolton show onYouTube, we have a separate one.
I was 2023.
I was supposed to do it, nevergot around to it.
Uh, for what I just explainedearlier Um, so I think it's a
new one is called J A, y, e, e,e or JB.
Uh, you know, josh Bolton, it'splayed on words.

(21:00):
Um, yeah, I, uh, I think alsoJB will be important.
I'm not sure what it will beyet, but I want to do something
with it.
Um, yeah, other than that, that's kind of where I'm going
with the show.
Uh, buzz sprout has alsointroduced more of a AI

(21:22):
transcription title description, chapters and all that.
So that'll be helpful for othercontent.
And, by the way, if you're everthinking of doing a podcast and
you're not sure what to do, thefirst host I highly recommend
is buzz sprout.
Um, because once you do all theintegration and set up, it's a

(21:45):
cake walk.
I've tried helping other peoplewith coaching on um podcasting.
A few people have hired me forpodcast coaching and they want
to do the free setup and I'mlike, is this such bullshit?
Like what are you doing?
No, no, no, no, no, no, don'tdo that here.
Just pay the 18 bucks a month.
I will set up everything on thebackground.

(22:07):
Just don't even bother withthat.
Um and a few of them.
One of them, well, he was tryingto use a podcast to put it on
the background.
He built a mastermind likewhere you pay him like a hundred
K a year and he's thought byposting like five podcasts he
just has the hundreds ofthousands.

(22:28):
Um, the irony, he also wasnamed Josh too, um, but uh, no,
I told him.
I said this is a long game, this is a very long game.
You have to do this as likepure passion and understand like
a hobby.
You're not going to make yourmoney back anytime soon, if at
all.

(22:49):
But that's the that's the beautyof it is cause I I never
started the show for a profit.
I never started the show tomake millions of dollars.
I just started it because I gotCOVID.
I was sick and dying and Iactually thought it was going to
die from COVID because it wasback in 2020, in December, and I

(23:10):
said you know what?
Fuck it, if, if I'm going toget in trouble online, at least
I'm doing what I want.
And so I started it and it waseasy for me to talk to business
people.
I'm like, hey, mister, can youcome on my show and tell me
about your business kind ofthing.
And I just kind of like I justkind of rolled into business um

(23:31):
niche so trying to get out, uhand explore more.
Um, if I can scheduleinterviews, it probably would be
Saturdays.
It's the one day I couldprobably tell my boss like, hey,
like I got it's my profile, theguy coming on a set.
I can't do whatever side gigkind of thing.

(23:53):
So the.
All that to say is I just wantedto hold something and say it's
mine and that's also why Itaught myself how to do futures
contracts and trainings and howmy trading, my trading method,
has evolved, but it's Prettyaccurate.

(24:14):
I'm not necessarily gonnaexplain what it is at least for
free but it hits like 95% of thetime, yeah, but it's just the.
The frequency of it is smaller, but the moves are just gorgeous

(24:36):
.
Those who don't know abouttrading Don't don't ignore that,
never mind kind of thing.
But yeah, so the the show, asscattered as this as this has
been is, it's coming back.
I'm going to, I'm gonna get atthis again.
I'm gonna make sure I don'tlose my target of helping people

(24:58):
and Stuff like that.
So the best way to, if you dowant to reach out to me, is Josh
Bolton show at gmailcom or mywebsite.
Josh Bolton show calm, there'sa message me tab, another thing
I've been thinking about.

(25:18):
Another thing I've beenthinking about is using audio
Messages.
I don't really see that manypodcasts using it at least
successfully, and there's acouple platforms I could do,
like pot inbox or speak pipe ora couple other ones where you
can send a message in, and IThink that would be great

(25:41):
because then I can incorporatepeople Into the show and we're
like, hey, this is fromso-and-so and I think, well,
okay, successfully.
I'm just thinking back onsomething Ralph Garment show.
He does that where you but youcall his actual line and he
plays it kind of thing.
It goes through his voicemail.
That's kind that he's the onlyone I see successfully doing it,

(26:06):
but he's prior radio show hostso he knows how to incorporate
people like that.
Other than that, yeah, I want, IJust want to help, I want to
serve in the best way possibleand I believe getting back on
the show, back into YouTube, I'mfocusing on building the

(26:29):
highest quality possible contentand a reasonable amount of time
is Going to be the best effort, plus my writing process.
I like my stories, oh, funfacts, and if you made it to the
26 minute, 40 something.
Second point I've been using aAI voice changer, but it's a.

(26:51):
I have it set to perfect pitchso it Cuts out most of my
breathing, it evens my plosivesand a couple other things I
really have, as I've beenwatching this there's a few
times I've actually like raisedmy voice and I don't really

(27:12):
notice it on the the recording.
So it's I like it.
What are your thoughts on it,by the way?
So, other than that, have agood one everyone, and Until
next time you.
