Biden Claims He Could've WON in 2024 – Here's Why That's False

The Josh Lafazan Show on YouTube - Episode 106

Joe Biden just made his first major post-presidency media appearance — and the internet is on fire.

In a headline-making interview on The View, Biden claimed that if he had stayed in the 2024 race, he would have defeated Donald Trump. Bold claim. But is it even remotely true?

Welcome back to The Josh Lafazan Show. In this episode, we take a deep dive into Biden’s comments — what he said, why it’s sparking backlash, and why this kind of historical revisionism could be dangerous for the future of the Democratic Party.

Let’s be clear: many of us who proudly voted for Joe Biden in 2020 are now watching with frustration as the former president attempts to rewrite the history of the 2024 election. His suggestion that he could have beaten Donald Trump isn’t just wishful thinking — it’s a complete rejection of the political reality he was facing at the time he stepped aside.

Here’s what Biden seems to be ignoring:

  • His disastrous debate performance against Trump in June 2024, which even loyal Democrats admitted was deeply concerning.

  • His cratering approval ratings, which hit historic lows in the final year of his presidency.

  • Internal polling from his own campaign that reportedly showed him losing to Trump in a potential Electoral College blowout — by over 400 electoral votes.

  • Widespread voter frustration over his handling of inflation, the economy, and a perceived disconnect from the issues everyday Americans cared about most.

Not only that, but Biden was unable to finish even one debate against Trump — how exactly was he planning to make it through five more months on the campaign trail? This was not a one-off performance. It was the culmination of growing concerns about his cognitive and physical fitness — concerns his team spent years downplaying or outright denying.

But here’s what makes his claim even more maddening: the facts don’t lie. Once Biden dropped out, Democratic enthusiasm surged. Kamala Harris, despite facing intense GOP attacks, was more popular among key demographics, especially young voters and voters of color. And when she finally took the stage against Trump, she won the first debate — something Biden failed to do in both 2020 and 2024.

So why does this matter now?

Because if we allow Biden’s narrative to go unchallenged, we risk repeating the exact same mistakes in 2028.

The American people lost trust — not because Biden aged, but because his team refused to be honest about it. They gaslit the public for four years, insisting he was “sharp behind closed doors” while millions watched him visibly struggle in public appearances. The secrecy, the denial, and now the revisionist spin are damaging not just to Biden’s legacy, but to the Democratic Party as a whole.

Biden’s refusal to accept responsibility for how 2024 unfolded — and for how his presence in the race hurt Democratic chances — could shape how voters view the party moving forward. And if Democrats want to rebuild trust, they need to start by owning the truth.

In today’s episode, we break down:

  • The real story behind Biden’s decision to leave the race

  • Why Kamala Harris outperformed expectations (and Biden)

  • The danger of allowing political figures to rewrite recent history

  • What Democrats must do to avoid disaster in 2028

Joe Biden served this country for decades. But his legacy — and the future of the Democratic Party — depend on truth, not ego. The 2024 election wasn’t stolen from him. He was not the best candidate to take on Trump. And pretending otherwise does a disservice to everyone who put their faith in the Democratic ticket.

It’s time to move forward — with
