Folk-Rock Singer, Songwriter, Composer, Poet, Wordsmith and Entrepreneur Jason Matu calls in to The Junk and Jam Hour via Zoom to share his journey in music, which is the culmination of his love of the craft of creative writing, ultimately leading him to discover his own musicianship during his law school edification - specifically acquired to serve his future goal of starting his very own record company! As the CEO and Founder of his own law firm, it was inevitable that music related matters would become an integral part of his practice, leading us into a discussion about the early mistakes music artists eager for a record deal make, and the importance for content creators to clear music and adhere to copyright statutes. Jason shares his delightful surprise to finding, nurturing and literally discovering his own voice, and how that led him to putting melody to lyrics that mean so much to him, including his joyfully fun hit, 'Pink Sun of Bisbee' - inspired from the special invitation he received from an even more special interest. We also chat about his latest single, 'Be Nice to Yourself', which expresses the feelings of someone in grief, and their ability - or inability - to take time for themselves, particularly in a time of tragedy. Jason is also gracious enough to share his own painful experience of losing the love his life to cancer not long ago, and how he went from strictly numbing that pain with alcohol, to opening up to receiving the help and guidance he needed to free him of his own torment and angst - with the insistence and support of his friends of course. We close with the effervescent, 'Ladycakes'.
