NYC-based Writer, Music Producer, Electronic Artist, Activist and Host, Nick Newhouse calls in to the Junk and Jam Hour to talk all about his journey in music, which officially began when he found himself producing melodies for industrial projects, and highly sought after to write music for commercials, online content, film, radio, and television. As co-founder of the Dance Electronic Group, Hightide Lofi – along with electronic music artist Bolide – they have earned over 10,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. He’s also one-half of the Dance-Electronic Duo, Baircave – with vocalist Ellen Perez – and together have been a fan-favorite since their 2016 debut EP, Hijinx. We listen to and discuss his single, Every Night (In My Dreams), and the reception of his brand new music, including the review by NYS Magazine, who labeled him as....”a brilliant musician that is constantly fixated on existential themes and chilling production(s)” A man of many incredible gifts, we also chat about his time as a software developer, leading him to code projects of his very own, including a browser puzzle game, a Soundcloud-inspired, single-page web application, and a terminal chess game. We also talk about his activism, advocating for the fair compensation of other musicians by music industrialists and platforms, including Spotify, and discuss his YouTube series, Slept On by Spotify, where he himself pays underrated, underground musicians for an interview and the opportunity to watch them work on their new music and craft. We also listen to the electrifying track by Baircave, entitled, Let it Out.
