If you caught last week’s solocast, you already know—we’re in the season of building. And this week, we’re taking things one step further.

Think of this episode as Part Two: a deeper dive into the mindset work behind the business and brand consulting offer I’ve quietly been building behind the scenes. It’s not quite ready for a full reveal—but I wanted to bring you along for the journey.

We’re talking about the two most important audits you can do right now:
→ The Internal Audit: habits, lies, and the current version of you
→ The External Audit: energy, access, and the people closest to you

If you’ve been feeling stuck, unmotivated, or low-key out of alignment—this episode is your sign to slow down and reassess. Not with shame. Not with pressure. Just truth.

✨ What version of YOU is calling the shots right now?
✨ Who’s getting your energy—and do they deserve it?
✨ What one move have you been avoiding that would instantly create alignment?

This episode is both a pep talk and a practice—and it’s the same work we’ll be doing this fall inside a 3-day business mindset immersion I’m so close to launching (more on that soon 😉).

If this message hits? Leave a comment, send a DM, or share your audit with me. I’d love to hear what’s coming up for you.

Don't say I've never doneanything for you, hello friends,
hello friends.

(01:33):
So it's interesting, as wecontinue to unveil sort of this
business mindset consultingthing that we're building here,
the certain terms and conceptsthat I have been writing and
stewing on and creating arestarting to come to life and
people are now asking mequestions and it's funny.
It's like, ok, can we talk alittle bit more about like the
CV versus the IV?
And I'm like, oh my gosh, we'recreating a world of acronyms.

(01:56):
And anyone who knows me and mylife in corporate America and
AT&T I love a good acronym, notonly because I just do, but it
like saves time.
So let's talk today a littlebit about CV versus IV, which is
the current version of youversus the ideal version of you.
If you're someone who is justideating right now or thinking,

(02:18):
you know, I've kind of outgrown, whether it's my life or just
what I'm doing from a businessperspective and I would like to,
you know you fantasize aboutjumping up and jumping out,
popping out and doing somethingnew.
There's so many different waysto go about it.
Most people just start at thebusiness, the point of where
they want to start a business.
Right, well, I want to.
You know, go get a domain nameor I'll get an LLC.

(02:40):
All that's important and allthat's great.
But not many people take a stepback to really evaluate

(03:03):
themselves and really take a oh,I'm going to go start a
business.
Well, the odds of that businesstranslating in some way, shape
or form, into being a hot messare probably pretty high.
If you go into it with a verystrong, organized, thoughtful
approach, well then you know youcan do the rest.

(03:23):
You can do the math on thatapproach.
Well then you know you can dothe rest, that you can do the
math on that.
So what I have spent a lot oftime thinking about and this is
me like thinking about it formyself, but also knowing that
once I sort of create thisrecipe, then I can share it with
all of you and so I'm very, very, very excited right now
that I'm at the point I'm atthis stage in the game of
building my business, where Ican actually start to articulate

(03:46):
and share things with you thatI have been creating on your
behalf.
So, without further ado, let'stalk about the current version
of you, my friend out there, andhow far, how we can get you
closer to being like the idealversion of you.
We have to get radically honestabout who you are right now,

(04:07):
and that's really hard to dobecause nobody wants to take a
step back and go oh man, thislife of mine, man, a couple of
genes aren't fitting quite theway they were before.
Like, things are feeling alittle snug, I'm feeling a
little uncomfy, some things feeloff and it's just easier to
sort of rationalize that oravoid it.
And so what I'm asking you todo is to not avoid it, not

(04:30):
rationalize it, and just let'sjust take inventory.
It doesn't mean you have to doanything right now, it doesn't
mean you have to do anything atall.
But knowledge is power and Ithink, before you embark on any
you know sort of businessventure, why not do this really
important, not onlyself-evaluation, but we also are
going to look at, you know, thepeople who are the closest to
you in your life, because, man, they can either be an elixir or

(04:53):
they can be a poison.
Let's just make sure that we doour best to eliminate the
toxicity where we can.
And you know, a lot of timesthe toxicity guys I know we want
to use that word, we want tolook outside and we want to say,
oh, they're toxic, thisperson's toxic.
Well, a lot of toxicity comesfrom you.
You know you can remove peoplefrom your life.
You can't remove yourself.
So I think the most importantthing is really making sure that

(05:17):
what's going on between thosetwo ears is healthy, and then,
of course, like it's tied toyour inner circle, right.
So the way you do one thing isthe way you do everything.
Blah, blah, blah.
So you know, if you're sittingin that stuck space wondering
why you're not seeing or feelingthe way you want to feel, not
making moves, not feeling lit upanymore, this is your episode

(05:45):
with.
Send it to them, listen to ittogether, but this is definitely
your invitation to either dothe audit or to start dipping
your toe in and thinking aboutat least knowing that this is
potential.
Okay.
So what I want you to do is Iwant you to ask yourself and be
very, very honest with yourself, and maybe you want to get a
piece of paper out or a journaland nobody else has got to know,
it's just me and you.
No one's got to know.
I want you to answer somequestions for yourself.
So, what habits are running yourlife right now?

(06:09):
We've all been there A lot oftimes.
We start doing things, whetherit's you know, you know, look,
think of a pie chart.
Your life is a pie chart.
There's only so much time andenergy in the day.
And like, if you think aboutthese habits, like, if you're
being honest, put that, plugthat in and see, like, how much
time and energy is that takingfrom my life?
Is it excessive caloriecounting?

(06:30):
Is it alcohol?
Is it shopping?
Is it doom scrolling?
You know we've all got them.
So what are the habits that youfeel like you sort of lost
control of?
Or maybe you do want to harnessin a little bit and maybe not
do so much.
So, like you know, if you gotthat visual pie chart, what,

(06:51):
what's on there?
That is like really flashingthe neon light, uh, you know.
And another thing too, like ahabit that you may not even be
thinking about would be overcommitting.
Another habit would beshrinking to make people
comfortable.
I'm sure that there's a lot ofpeople that do that, and if it
helps, you actually draw alittle pie chart.
Draw a pie chart it's a hundredpercent pie chart and then give

(07:12):
each of your habits apercentage that you think is in
line with what's going on withyour daily life.
Okay, number two what lies am Itelling myself?
Tell me lies, tell me sweetlittle lies.
We do it all the time, but alot of us don't want to admit it
.
Let me give you some examples.
I'm too busy, I'm not ready,it's not the right time.

(07:33):
You know it's been not theright time for three years, for
some of you for four years, oryou know.
Maybe you don't like the wordlie, so maybe you say what story
?
What story are you tellingyourself that's keeping you from
moving forward, from breakingthrough, from becoming that more
ideal version of who you are?
All right, what do I avoidfacing or feeling?

(07:56):
Is it fear of failure, rejection or the grief of
realizing you've outgrown thelife you've built?
Most people I would say 99.9%of the human population we fear
rejection, we fear failure.
It's horrible feeling.
Nobody wants to be rejected, nobody wants to feel failure.
That stuff doesn't feel greatin the moment, but you just

(08:22):
can't allow that to hold youback.
It's like anything else, likeyou start feeling it over and
over again.
You're like, okay, it's notthat bad, keep moving forward.
It's like a rite of passage.
You have to go through thosethings to get where you want to
go.
I'm just the messenger.
I did not design the world thatway, but it's just the way it
is and you know all of these areuncomfortable.

(08:42):
But you got to get clarityaround this stuff because you
can't.
You can't make movement orchange what you don't
acknowledge.
So quick overview what habitsare running your life right now?
What lies or stories are youtelling yourself?
And then what do you avoidfeeling or facing?
You know, take a minute overthe next week, couple weeks,

(09:03):
maybe month.
Take a minute over the nextweek, couple weeks, maybe month.
That's sort of the high levelarchitecture for how I want you
to start with this internalaudit of self and then let me
know what comes up.
I would love nothing more thanto get some messages from you
and we can start kind ofchatting about it.
I would love to hear what comesup for you in that audit.
And there's so much more to theaudit.

(09:23):
This is just me getting youkind of a little nibble of
what's going on over here interms of this whole program.
Let's go into part two, which isthe external audit.
It's the world around you andyou know your environment is
shaping your reality.
Whether you want to acknowledgeit or not, the people who are
closest to you have anincredible amount of influence

(09:46):
on what happens with you in yourlife.
I mean, think about that.
So let's start with this, withthe external audit.
Who gets the most access to youright now.
And I want you to get anotherlittle piece of paper out,
nothing fancy, and I want you towrite down the top people who
have the most access to you.
And I'm going to ask youanother question Do they deserve
it?
Do they deserve to have theaccess to you that they have

(10:11):
today?
And that's a tough question.
It's like, oh, that one feels alittle weird.
I'm going to take it one stepfurther.
Another exercise that we dowhen we go into this
comprehensive sort of deep diveof this current version and
ideal version.
So you've written down thenames or the titles of these

(10:34):
people.
So let's say, you have on theredad, you have brother, your
friend Kara, whoever what I wantyou to do by their name, cross,
put a little line right in themiddle of the name dad, if it's
dad, whatever the name is andthen, instead of the title, I
want you to list the threefeelings or things that you

(10:57):
think of or that come up whenyou think of that relationship.
How does that relationship makeyou feel?
How does that person make youfeel?
Write those three adjectivesand cross the name out and put
the three feelings.
And man is that powerful?

I mean, stress is real, life isbusy and your scalp, yeah, it
deserves some love too.
That's where Headspace by MiaSantiago comes in.
Treat yourself or someone whodeserves it to a luxurious scalp
treatment and a killer, blowoutor cut.
Because nothing says maincharacter energy honey.

(12:47):

And because we love a good deal, mention the Keri Croft Show

your life that you love.
Headspace by Mia Santiago.
Because great hair daysshouldn't be rare.
Sometimes in life it's like, okay, we're given certain people

(13:10):
around us, they've just, theyjust have access with proximity
and you don't really on like, isthat relationship really
healthy?
How are they making me feel?
How is this affecting the wholeof how I move in the world?
And so I'm not trying to say,you know, go fire everybody in
your life tomorrow, but what Iam trying to say is the energy

(13:33):
and the effort and the time thatyou pour into things and the
energy that's poured back intoyou, that all matters so much in
terms of how you move throughthe world.
Once you've done this exerciseand you sit with it for a minute
, I want you to then look atthose people, look at those

(13:56):
feelings and if it's a positiverelationship, I want you to then
look at those people, look atthose feelings and if it's a
positive relationship, I wantyou to put a plus sign above,
like, let's say, it's dad with athree adjectives, put a plus
sign up there.
If it's negative, put anegative and then count up how
many positives and how manynegatives do you have there with
the people who have access toyou and you may have to make

(14:16):
some tough decisions.
Do you have people who justpeople who have access to you,
and you may have to make sometough decisions?
Do you have people who justaren't really happy for you?
Does it feel like they're kindof always there in a crisis, but
then the minute that somethinggoes well, it's kind of like
you're feeling a whole differentenergy?
Do you have people who areconstantly just dumping all over
you?
Do you have people who, anytimeyou feel like you want to share
something or you feel thatdopamine or that excitement,

(14:38):
it's like somebody's kind ofsquashing it.
Man, that's your tapestry, thatis your energetic tapestry that
is so important.
And and while that exercise is alittle uncomfy and it can be
painful and maybe show you somerealizations, I just you got to
do it because if you want, it'shard enough, you know.
If you want it's hard enough, you know life, business, all

(14:59):
this stuff is hard enough whenyou are, when you are firing on
all cylinders.
So if you're not firing on allcylinders and there's things you
can do and maybe someadjustments you can make, you
owe that.
You owe that to yourself and tothis ideal version of you to to
make those tweaks and changesand be really honest about you
know what's swirling around.

(15:19):
That space and energy that'sclose to you is precious man.
That is like valuable, valuablereal estate.
I hope you take that oneseriously and do that for
yourself, either today or thisweek or this month.
Okay, here's another one.
What do you consume on a dailybasis?
So garbage in, garbage out,right.
So what are you watching, scrolling, listening to?

(15:41):
If your feed is draining youand I said this in my last solo
cast you know it's yeah,unfollow.
But I think bigger picture is,these algorithms are a
reflection of you.
They're a reflection of yourinterests.
They're a reflection of whatyou're putting out.
So maybe you should startsearching and looking for
positive things and things thatare more business driven or

(16:04):
inspirational driven, or thingsthat can move the needle,
because I'll tell you, likeanything in life, social media
is good and social media is bad.
It's like, where do you sit onthat continuum?
I can say that about a millionthings that can be good or bad
depending on how I'm consumingthem.
And so, if I'm choosing to bepositive and to look for

(16:26):
positive things and to look foreducational material, there's
never a better spot than socialmedia if you sort of have the
right algorithm and the rightfor you page, if you sort of
have the right algorithm and theright for you page.
So you got to kind of take alittle hard look at yourself
there, as opposed to blamingsocial media and just putting
this broad stroke that socialmedia is bad, okay.
And then, third, are yoursystems that you have in place

(16:47):
supporting the life that you sayyou want, okay.
So what does that mean, carrie?
It means your calendar, yourmorning routine, or lack thereof
, your finances, your digitallife.
Is your structure, building youor burying you there?
These are all really great, important components of building

(17:07):
this external environmentthat's going to support your
ideal version of you, but it'sit never ceases to amaze me and
this is, for me, like I'mtalking to myself more than I'm
talking to anybody else here.
Aren't you fascinated with howwe move through the business
world?
So you join a company.

(17:27):
There's all these systems, everything's dialed in, and then
you learn the mission, youlearn their values, you march to
the specific drum of theculture and the brand and next
thing you know everybody's justkind of humming right.
There are systems and processesand there is a method to the
madness there that you can feel.

(17:49):
But then when we go to growlike, build and grow our family,
build a home, build a life withhuman beings that we've created
, we just kind of wing it Likewhat systems are we putting in
place for our most importantassets, which are our legacy,
our family?

(18:09):
What are we doing to make surethat we're efficient, that we're
thoughtful, that we're doingthings the way that are going to
make our ideal version proud?
So let's go back to just a quickrecap of the external audit
high level.
Who gets the most access to youright now and do they deserve
it?
What do you consume on a dailybasis and are your systems

(18:34):
supporting the life you say youwant?
I just gave you a lot ofhomework and it's very, very
valuable and relevant, and Ihope some people take me up on
this, because I don't think Iknow that just from me doing
some of these things myself.
I have seen tremendous growth,I have felt an incredible sense

(18:56):
of peace and you know what elseI've learned.
I have found this energeticsort of space or silence and
it's like wow, hold on a minute,I can fill this with like other
things that matter, right.
So like building this newbusiness and taking care of my
family in a different way andmaking sure that everything's in

(19:16):
line for me, that I am marchingto a drum that I am proud of
and I'm going to be proud of inthe future.
This stuff pays off big time.
I'm doing it, I've done it forthe last I mean solid two years
I've been testing this andworking on this and I'm so
excited I'm so excited that I'mactually verbalizing some of

(19:37):
this stuff that maybe you knowsomebody can pick up out there
and pick up the ball and go andthe magic is like you're never
done auditing.
I think, once you realize thatthis audit exists, what my hope
for you and my hope for me isthat it's constantly live and
fluid.
So I know that I'm alwaysinternally auditing myself and

(20:00):
going back to shaping thosehabits, shaping those systems,
making sure that myrelationships are positive.
It's not like you're just goingto do this audit like a check
the box thing and move on.
This kind of becomes a part ofyour internal system that you're
always kind of drawing back toto make sure, okay, yep, we're
good Like we're, we're still onpoint.
Same thing for the external, the external audit, and then you

(20:22):
can kind of keep, you cancontinue to engineer things Once
this becomes sort of a part ofyour makeup and your mentality.
It's like you know, what wouldmy ideal version of me do
differently this week?
What's one decision, oneboundary, one move I've been
avoiding that would immediatelycreate alignment?
You know, ask yourself you'redriving, you're running, you're
walking, whatever, what's onedecision, one boundary, one move

(20:46):
I've been avoiding that wouldimmediately create alignment.
And then you know what's thecost of staying the same, I
don't know, sit with some ofthese questions and maybe, like
this week, when you wouldnormally tune out and listen to
music or listen to a podcast, or, you know, talk to somebody
during a workout class, maybejust get quiet and just ask

(21:06):
these questions, becauseconvincing ourselves or telling
ourselves the truth sometimesit's, it takes a while.
It's kind of like tipping oversomething really heavy, right
you?
You start to try to tip it andit won't, because it's just so
there and it's so heavy and youkind of have to keep going at it
and keep getting after it untilit builds momentum.
So maybe these are somequestions that have been lurking

(21:27):
for a while, that like you'regetting ready to expose and be
like you know what.
No, no, this isn't an alignmentand I do need to put up
boundaries.
And why are boundaries?
Why are boundaries negative?
They're not.
They're the most beautifulthing, the most beautiful thing
you can possibly have and createfor yourself and the ones you
love.
Period, end of story.

(21:48):
You know you don't become yournext level self with like a
vision board.
I mean, yeah, okay, like I'mnot saying that can't be a part
of it, but you do it with aseries of uncomfortable,
powerful decisions that say likeI refuse to live on the wrong
side of my potential.
And when you boil it down likethat, live on the wrong side of

(22:11):
my potential.
And when you boil it down likethat, you know I refuse to live
on the wrong side of mypotential.
Then you know, if that becomessort of your guidepost and
you're non-negotiable, then yougot to start reverse engineering
stuff and you really need todial into these audits and take
them seriously because they work.
So here's your challenge.
Okay, by the end of today orthis week or this month, I want
you to do both audits, internaland external, write them down,

(22:35):
maybe send me a screenshot.
I would love that.
I would love to look at youraudits.
I would love to kind of go backand forth with you and help you
kind of refine them.
Say the hard truths, say thethings you've been sort of
holding back or maybe repressingor whatever.
And then I want you to do onething either today, this week,

(22:56):
this month that your idealversion of you would do
immediately.
Like what would they look at?
They'd be like okay, we'regoing to do this one thing, we
have to do it, and I want you todo it.
I mean, that's how it starts,right.
I also like to think too.
It's like that ideal version ofyou is waiting.
It's like waiting for you toget in the game and get aligned
and like get the party started.

(23:18):
And if this message hit youlike a ton of bricks, you know
if you're nodding and thinking, damn, this is me, you know then
I want you to know.
Something like this is exactlythe kind of work we're doing
inside this three-day immersionthat we're putting on this fall,
and I'm so excited it's goingto be three days of intensive
business mindset, likeon-the-job training, you know

(23:40):
it's.
It's the perfect, perfect thingfor someone who has that
special something and it'sbubbling over and they just
can't figure out how to get itout.
And then, once they get it out, what to do with it.
I mean that's the best way thatI can put it.
We're not just talking aboutchange, we're engineering change

(24:02):
.
You know, we're doing the deep, unfiltered work and really
looking at you as an individualand what you bring to the table
and how to help you get thisidea not only on the rails but
get momentum behind it and justget moving forward so you can
just start doing the damn thing.
We're designing a business and alife that actually fits who you

(24:24):
are and who you want to be.
I mean that's you know, how canyou not?
How can you not?
So if this resonates with youat all and you want to know more
or you want to be, I meanthat's you know, how can you not
?
How can you not?
So if this resonates with youat all and you want to know more
or you want to send me youraudit, or you want to talk about
this.
You want to set up a 15-minuteCalendly?
I've got a schedule on myInstagram.
You can just hit link in bio.
I've got some available timeswhere you can just jump on a

(24:44):
15-minute call with me.
Send me a DM or email me atkerry, at thekerrycroftshowcom,
and we'll just go into it more.
So I hope this helps.
I really hope that some of youout there will pick up a pen and
a piece of paper and do thedamn thing.
And until next time, keepmoving, baby.
And if you're still listening, thank you.

(25:11):
We have a special little nuggetfor you, because you're a loyal
listener and you wait till thevery, very end.
So we have a little tough love, love letter from our best
friend.
I call him Chet, chet Gibbett, and I would really like to read
this to you because I thinksomebody out there probably
needs to hear it.
And here it goes.
Dear future CEO of a businessyou still haven't started, hi,

(25:34):
it's me, the voice in your headyou keep trying to ignore.
But make no mistake, I see you.
You got notebooks full ofmillion dollar ideas, podcast
drafts that would go viral, aCanva account that's more active
than your actual bank accountand yet you're out here
rearranging your spice rack, calling it preparation.

(25:55):
Babe, you don't need anothericed latte and a manifestation
playlist.
You need to move.
You keep telling everyone you'rejust waiting for the right time
.
Okay, beyonce, are youlaunching a world tour or are
