Hello friends, and welcome toanother solo cast.
And it's summertime.
It is summer.
I am so excited.
Kate.
Are you excited for summer?
I mean we are.
We are so excited for a hotmess.
(01:34):
Summer Cannot wait to get outinto the streets and see what
the businesses are popping andwhat people are doing popping
and what people are doing.
Kate's going to come with me onsome of those little adventures
.
Lemonade Stand is upon us.
We did one last year and we'regoing to actually do more than
(01:54):
one this year, which is we'lltalk about later and my business
consulting is starting tosnowball and what I've been
building behind the scenes isstarting to sort of take shape,
and I am so, is starting to sortof take shape and I am so
fucking jacked.
So my goal, my goal for thesesolo casts, is to talk very
specifically around some ofthese business questions that I
(02:15):
get a lot, but I know for peopleout there who are really trying
to figure out what they want todo in life, especially in
business.
I want to get right in therewith you and do whatever I can
to help add value and sort of goback into my treasure chest of
wisdom and experience and helpin any way that I can.
(02:36):
And from those of you who arenew here if you're new here and
you don't know anything about meother than, who is this wild
podcast host and why is shetalking to me about business.
Let me just give you a tinylittle background.
Back in the day, when I wasabout five or six I mean I was
we big I was always, always intobusiness.
(02:58):
So I wasn't into dolls, Iwasn't into all the regular
bullshit.
I wanted, wanted a desk paper,a fake phone, and I would talk
to fake people and I would dobusiness.
I have a picture that I'm goingto maybe put up I'll give it to
you, kate, and it's of me whenI was six years old, in front of
the Christmas tree with a desk,a phone, talking to fake people
.
So business, you could say, issort of in my DNA.
(03:22):
It's like people do things forfun.
They ride bikes, they playtennis.
I like to think and figure outhow to create business.
Something might be wrong, Ihave no idea, but anyway I do
have.
Also, along with justfantasizing and being a kid who
liked to play business, I endedup jumping into corporate
America right after college atOhio State and I went into IT
(03:46):
sales and I did really wellthere.
I loved the sales game and I'velearned so much about business
from being in sales.
I was in that game for a longtime.
I was promoted to salesdirector at AT&T, ran a couple
of teams, a 90 plus milliondollar book of business loved it
.
Jumped out of that into theentrepreneurial space to build a
(04:09):
fitness brand with my partnerand I've spent the last 10 years
building that and recently soldmy interest to pursue what I'm
doing now, which is helping youbuild your business, helping you
get out of the space thatyou're in.
That I like to call the currentspace like the current version
of you and trying to catapultyou into the ideal space or the
(04:33):
ideal version of you.
So current version, idealversion, and there's a bridge in
between those two things thatyou can walk over, crawl over,
hop over, but you absolutely canget there.
I'm not going to say it's goingto be easy, it's not going to
be linear, but it's there.
Your ideal version of you andyour ideal version of life
(04:56):
awaits.
And guess who's going to getyou there?
Not your inner circle, not youruncle Tom, not your dad, not
your mom, you.
It's all about you and how youcan get inside your brain that
is completely filled withself-doubt, questions, confusion
(05:18):
, overwhelm.
But then you also have thisthing.
You're like I know I I have apurpose, I know I have something
to say.
How do I get it out?
How do I get it out?
And I just might be able tohelp you do that.
If you've been following alongthe show and my social media,
you may have been seeing thisnew person pop up.
(05:40):
Her name is Megan Goodman.
So Megan Goodman is actuallythe prototype for this business
that I'm building.
Currently Megan is doing thisbusiness, consulting, mindset,
consulting with me right now, real time.
And part of this process that Iam creating is, if you want, if
(06:02):
you're the type of person whowants to have the exposure, who
wants to sort of be heldaccountable, we can actually
real time show your progress, kind of shoot a fire hose to you
and then you walk away withthat information.
It's not about that.
(06:35):
It's about putting the trainingwheels on and actually doing on
the job training.
So I don't know, I don't knowif there's anything like that
out there.
I'm sure there is somewhere, but I certainly haven't seen it,
not at least in the way thatI'm doing it.
So I'm very, very excited.
So this particular solo cast isfor the one who knows they're
(06:55):
meant for more.
It's the person who's quietlybursting with potential but
feeling isolated, uncertain andlow key, afraid, and that's
probably most people who reallyhaven't set sail yet, who are
still in their own head.
You know, you have a lot ofdifferent feelings and thoughts
and it's really hard sometimesto get that good stuff out of
(07:17):
your head and into the world.
But you need to do it.
It's a disservice, I mean.
Could you imagine at the end ofyour life what a miss that
would be that you weren't ableto sort of mine for that and get
it out of there and out intothe world for the people who
need it?
I feel like man, we have to doit.
It's not if it's when.
So consider this particular solocast just like a no bullshit
(07:40):
guide that will combine like apep talk from your ride or die
and a game plan from yourbusiness savvy mentor.
So it's like a little mix ofthings.
So you've got something and youfeel it, and yet you're
standing on the edgeoverthinking the jump because
you don't know where you'll land.
So let's fix that.
I've got a couple things herethat I want you to stop doing.
(08:03):
Stop doing this shit.
It's not helpful, it's notgoing to get you where you want
to go.
So today we stop doing it.
Number one, and this is a hugeone, and we all do it, and I
felt myself for so long doingthis, and when I finally figured
out how to stop doing this, itsaved me so much energy, time
(08:24):
and it just feels so much better.
Stop trying to convince peoplewho don't share your vision.
Stop trying to convince peoplewho don't share your vision.
And it's not because they're abad person, it's not because
they're an asshole they might be, most people are.
It's not because they're anasshole they don't understand
what you're doing, and that'spart of the beauty of creating
(08:48):
something, the beauty ofmanifesting and creating
something that's from your soul, from you.
Nobody understands it becauseit's not out there yet, but yet
we want to go to this innercircle of people who we love and
we trust, and we want to dumpall this information on them and
we expect them to stand up andbe like oh, eureka, this is what
(09:10):
I've been waiting for.
This is the best idea in theworld.
They're not going to do that, and there's a couple of reasons
why they may not do that.
A they just don't understand.
It's like speaking a differentlanguage to somebody.
B they are assholesno-transcript.
(09:42):
So you have to look for thosesigns as well.
It could be A and B.
You don't need a permissionslip.
You don't need other people toclap for you in the beginning,
and their lack of understandingsays nothing about your
potential.
It just means they're not theones that can help you fly.
If you're at this point and thisis resonating with you you're
pretty early on in this game.
(10:04):
This is a crucial thing.
You have got to ferret out.
You've got to figure this out.
It's enough for you to clap foryourself for a really long time
.
It's enough for you to keepyour ideas in, or maybe just
away from, your inner circle.
What I recommend to you, if youare experiencing this right now
(10:26):
go look and find a short listof human beings who have done
something similar to what youaspire to do, and I don't care
if you don't know them, youprobably don't know them.
Make a list of those people, reach out and see if maybe one
or two of them will give yousome time, because then, and
(10:47):
only then, will you sit downwith someone who speaks the
language that you're trying tospeak and that will give you so
much confidence and clarity, andthat's really the road that you
want to walk down.
Keep your inner circle forother stuff, unless you have
someone in that circle that canunderstand this.
(11:10):

shouldn't be rare.
(13:00):
Number two stop waiting untilit's perfect.
Why do we continue to do this?
I don't know how many Instagramreels, how many people, how
many conversations I've had tohave about perfection.
It's like we all understand andwe know that there is no
perfect, but yet we still strivefor perfection.
(13:21):
This game is going to be somessy.
There is nothing perfect aboutit, so stop waiting for it to be
perfect.
Perfection is a trap.
It's the universe's design tokeep people back from succeeding
and I, I, a thousand percentbelieve that there is survival
(13:42):
of the fittest in everything, and business is included in that
.
So the universe designs it.
It's like oh okay, how manypeople can we keep back because
they have to wait for theperfect time.
Only so many people are goingto make it to the finish line,
so don't let that be what keepsyou back.
It's a trap, and clarity comesfrom action, not from endless
(14:06):
planning.
Start messy and real, andthat's how you're going to get
where you want to go.
I mean, are you the person outthere who literally has like a
hundred documents?
You have Excel spreadsheets andyou have.
You have Word documents andthey're all perfect and the T's
are perfectly crossed and theI's are perfectly crossed and
the I's are perfectly dotted.
I mean, you have planned andplanned and plotted
(14:28):
Congratulations.
You still haven't taken thefirst step, okay, so I would
take somebody any day of theweek who's ready to go and who
has the balls to execute thansomeone who's really good at
making a spreadsheet.
Okay.
So just perfection.
It's a complete mirage.
Number three stop outsourcingyour confidence, and this one
(14:51):
sort of circles back to numberone, where we feel like we can
only move when somebody elsevalidates us.
You're handing them your power.
When you do that.
Build your self-trust like it'syour job, because it is, again,
the only person you need at thebeginning of this process to
(15:12):
validate you is you, and itsounds so simple, but it's also
so complex.
When you're alone and you'rethe only one clapping and the
only one knowing what's going on, it really is easy to sort of
second, third, fourth and fifthguess yourself like am I crazy?
Like what am I even doing here?
(15:32):
You have to stay rooted in yourconfidence and your belief and
that, really that innerintuition that you're going to
make it and you're going to doit.
So let's review.
Shall we Stop doing this shit?
Stop trying to convince peoplewho don't share your vision,
stop waiting until it's perfectand stop outsourcing your
(15:55):
confidence.
Now I'm going to give you acouple things to start doing
instead of those things.
Now I'm going to give you acouple things to start doing
instead of those things.
I already went through thefirst one.
Find someone who's donesomething similar, ask for 10
minutes, offer something inreturn if you want to.
Most people are more generousthan you think, especially if
they see your hunger, if theysee a version of themselves in
(16:19):
you that's powerful.
You know they see the personthat they were when they were
starting out and you can endearyourself to them.
Most people, nine times out often, are going to give you at
least a coffee, maybe even acoffee and some kind of like
ongoing mentorship, but younever know until you ask.
Number two protect your visionlike it's sacred because it is.
(16:42):
Again, not everyone will get itand they don't have to.
You need to move anyway and youdon't need a chorus and you're
not going to have a chorus.
You're going to have one littlesolo singing voice like ah, and
that's okay.
Another thing that will happen, that I've actually experienced
many times, is when you do shareyour vision and it's not
(17:03):
received.
You can feel sort of the energyjust drain and your confidence
just drains.
Then all of a sudden, you'relike, yeah, you're right, like
this is really stupid, so it's avery powerful thing.
So protect it like it's sacredbecause it is.
Number three take one baby stepright now, today, especially for
the person that we just talkedabout, who loves to put the
(17:25):
spreadsheet together, like itgives you this sense of
satisfaction and your documentsand all these things.
Maybe you send a DM to a personon the list that we talked
about, on your short list.
Maybe you buy a domain, youknow, go to GoDaddycom, buy the
(17:50):
damn thing, post an idea, maybeput something out there and say
you know, if you have a businessyou're trying to start let's
say it's fitness and you're like, hey, what's out there?
Does anybody want to dostrength training or whatever it
is Like?
You have to start testing themarket, and when you hear like
testing the market, it sounds soofficial.
Do you know how simple testingthe market could be?
It can be a freaking Instagrampoll, you know, on something.
(18:12):
You're trying to figure outwhat the people who follow you
like that pertains to.
Whatever it is you're trying tobuild Journaling the business
name, trying to figure out thebranding.
That's kind of a fun thing todo.
Motion breeds momentum, somotion breeds motion, and so
until you start that action, you're just gonna be sitting
(18:35):
there overanalyzing the shit outof stuff.
Number four audit your inputs.
I love this one, and this Imean.
All of these transcend outsideof business, into life too, but
this one I love because of allthe conversation today around
social media.
Is it good or bad?
You know?
Here's the question.
(18:55):
Who are you following?
Who are you listening to?
Feeding your fire with stories, voices and energy that stretch
you and not shrink you?
I find it interesting whenpeople are always like.
You know, instagram and TikTok.
Social media is terrible.
It's the worst thing in theworld that's ever happened.
And then you look at your Foryou page and you've got all this
(19:16):
negative wild shit on there.
But that's a mirror.
This negative wild shit onthere, but that's a mirror.
Your For you page, especiallyon the talk man.
The talks algorithm is so onpoint and it's basically just a
mirror for what you aresearching for or what you're
watching.
So if I'm trying to use socialmedia for good, I'm searching
(19:42):
like-minded businesses that Iwant to build.
I'm searching competitors ofthe business I want to build.
I'm searching motivationalspeakers that resonate with what
I'm trying to do, positive, cheerleading type environment or
educational environment that isnot only teaching me what's out
(20:03):
there, keeping me savvy withwhat's going on in the market
that I'm trying to enter, whoare the players in the market
I'm trying to enter and whatpositive stuff's going on in the
world.
So before you start, you knowtalking about how terrible
social media is.
Maybe you need to figure outyou know, I don't know what's
going on inside of you that'sreflecting that Number five.
(20:26):
This is also one of my favoritesvisualizing the version of you
on the other side of the leap.
So, going back to what I justsaid in the beginning about the
current state of you versus theideal state of you.
That person's waiting andthey've got receipts.
Okay, you just have to go meetthem.
Like it's out there, it'swritten in the stars for you.
(20:49):
All you have to do is takeaction.
Okay, that's a lot to.
That's a lot to digest.
Today, my plan is to be doingmore of these quick hitter, very
dialed in conversations aroundbusiness branding and how to
really get you off your ass andinto the stratosphere, for those
of you who are interested.
So we are going to be doing animmersion at the beginning of
(21:13):
fall, so end of summer, beginning of fall.
I'm going to be taking probablylike five five-ish people, five
to seven people.
We're going to be doing like atwo to three day immersion.
So it's going to be all aboutbuilding branding, promoting
yourself, figuring out how, in aworld where AI is completely
(21:34):
taken over the spot, how are wegoing to stand out now in a
world where you know it's goingto be so much easier in theory
to start a business, or quicker, because everybody's on the chat
, gpt and using AI andeverything's changing?
I would say that there's never amore important time in the
world to dial into yourauthenticity, to your purpose,
(21:57):
to why you're doing the thingsthat you're doing, to your
purpose, to why you're doing thethings that you're doing.
So if you can really dig deepinto the fingerprint, this
unique fingerprint that is you, that nobody else can, no one
else can emulate you.
If you can bring that upeffectively and then leverage AI
, you're going to have such apowerful combination that no
(22:19):
one's going to stop you.
So we are going to have a waitlist shortly, kate, right, wait
list coming shortly.
There'll be an applicationprocess, more details to come,
but if you know me, I like toput together a really good
experience.
So there'll be a lot ofeducation, a lot of on-the-job
training, a lot of fun, just amagnetic networking experience
(22:42):
too, to meet people, like-mindedpeople, who are doing the same
thing that you're doing.
So if you're interested, youwant to hear more.
You can DM me If you have anyquestions or if this evoked
anything inside of you.
Please send me a DM, send me anemail at kerry, at the
kerrycrossshowcom.
If you like what you're hearing, just go rate the show, send it
to a friend and we'll be backfor more.
And until next time, keepmoving, baby.
