📧 Many law firm owners worry about “bothering” their list with too many emails. But in this episode, Danny Decker explains why the real danger isn’t over-emailing — it’s not emailing enough. Discover how often you should be reaching out, why once-a-quarter newsletters don’t cut it, and how valuable content keeps your list engaged without driving unsubscribes.

📌 Key Takeaways:

  • Once-a-quarter emails aren’t nearly enough to stay top of mind.
  • Monthly (or even weekly) newsletters build referrals and repeat business.
  • Valuable content keeps your audience engaged and prevents unsubscribes.

How often should we email our list?
This is a question we get a lot,and it's almost always from the
the context of a law firm owneris worried about emailing his or
her list too much, right?
You don't want to be anintrusion.
We talk to law firms who who areconvinced that you know they
want to do an email newsletter, they see the value, they know

(00:21):
it's a good tool for brandawareness, referrals, uh, repeat
engagements, but once a quarteris is all they can imagine doing
because they just don't want tobother their their their list.
I always tell them once aquarter is is just not close to
enough.
Okay.
Um, you gotta understand intoday's day and age, people are
just bombarded with information, depending on you know what study

(00:44):
you listen to.
You know, we most humans arepresented with like 10,000
unique thoughts every singleday.
Okay, so your email once every90 days is just not going to
register.
I highly encourage law firms tobe sending out an email
newsletter at least once permonth.
Um, you know, we send out emailan email newsletter once per
week, which is an incrediblemarketing tool for us.

(01:06):
We also will do, you know, whenwe're doing webinars or special
events, we'll sometimes send uhan email or even two in a day.
Now you have to be careful.
You want to pay attention toyour list data.
If you're seeing too high of anunsubscribe rate, maybe that's a
sign that you need to slow downa little bit.
More likely it's a sign that youjust need to work on making sure
your content is really valuable.

(01:29):
That's kind of the key here.
At the end of the day, you cansend a whole lot of email every
single week as long as thecontent is of value to the
people receiving it.
So that's the framework I wouldthink about this through.
But at minimum, you should emailyour list once a month, very
possibly a little bit more thanthat.
