Today I sat down with my friend Sophie O'Rourke, a former NYC PR exec who transitioned into influencer marketing and we got candid on what it's like forging your own identity as a twin and discovering yourself in a new city, career development in cut throat and sought after industries and so much more.
Sophie shared her journey from Kentucky to New York, her passion for public relations, and the importance of internships and small agencies in shaping her career. From one job to another, recognizing Sophie dives into how to know when it's time to move on, fostering accountability and growth within teams and how leadership roles shaped her career trajectory. We unpacked the challenges of maintaining professional boundaries in social settings and with your boss and employees when you’re close in age, managing family expectations and career aspirations and the significance of how her agency fosters a culture of self advocacy, creativity and flexibility too. One of my fave convos I’ve had lately, let me know what your fave part was.
