Speaker 1 (00:03):
Welcome to the Lion
Within Us, a podcast serving
Christian men who are hungry tobe the leaders God intends you
to be.
I'm your host, chris Granger.
Let's jump in.
All right, fellas.
Fun Friday time, let's getright into it, okay?
So the scripture of the weekthis week is in 2 Timothy, the
first chapter, the fifth verse, for I am mindful of the sincere
faith within you which firstdwelled in your grandmother,
lois, and your mother, eunice, and I am sure that it is in you
(00:26):
as well.
Love that verse, fellas, because that's what it's all
about Taking God's word, simplifying it, applying it to
our life.
And if you need help on how todo that for this verse, the
spiritual kickoff episode, whichis two episodes back, just go
one, two, you'll see it.
The spiritual kickoff episode, which you'll see just the
spiritual kickoff episode, whichyou'll see just two episodes
(00:46):
back.
Find it right there, fellows, and right and and and, where we
try to simplify and apply thisverse to our life.
Now, if you enjoy those Mondaythrough Friday in our community
we do these Monday throughFriday Okay, so go check those
out.
The line withinus starts yourspiritual, daily, spiritual
kickoff experience.
(01:07):
It's free, it's a way we try toserve All right Now.
This whole week has been aboutwe're just a guy raising kids.
I don't know about you, it'shard.
Maybe you just need to sighright now.
I get it.
It's hard, bro, but so we tooksome time to unpack that
devotion.
We got a lot of attention outof that devotion.
(01:27):
Guys really enjoyed it.
I'm hopeful that you enjoyed itas well.
If you're just a guy raisingkids, keep doing your best, keep
leaning in and being obedient, okay, and we're going to give
you a couple of tips right hereto hopefully help you continue
to raise them the right way.
Ok, and we also know the rightway is his way, not my way, but
(01:50):
his way.
So for Fun Friday, we always doa health, wealth and self tip.
That health is mind and body, wealth is career, finances, self
is husband, father.
The health tip this week.
I just want to encourage youtake walks with your kids,
because some of the mostmeaningful moments don't always
happen at the dinner table or aformal setting where you're
(02:12):
studying the Bible which theyare important but when your
guard is down and you're justwalking, man, there's something
cool there and it supports notonly your health but it just
creates space for conversationsand ask questions like hey,
what's your greatest part ofyour day-to-day, or is there
anything you're worried aboutright now?
(02:33):
Or what do you think God'steaching you right now for this
season that you're in?
Because these casual momentscan become sacred moments.
They can, they really can, andit shows them that you're just
not spiritually present, butyou're spiritually and
emotionally present too.
So I love walking my13-year-old.
(02:53):
She loves to take walks withDad.
Whatever you guys can do, carvethat time to take those walks
with your kids.
Alright, there's your healthtip, your wealth tip.
I'm all about working hard.
Trust me, I've burned it toohard.
No one to shut it down, becausework is a blessing and a
(03:14):
responsibility and we have tomodel diligence.
Okay, if we want our kids tounderstand the value of that we
have in them around stewardship,right.
But there's a, there's a littledanger that exists If you never
stop working.
It sends the message to ourkids that success is measured by
(03:35):
exhaustion and that our jobsmatter more than the people at
our home.
It can't.
It can't have that.
So maybe you need to shut downyour laptop at a set time.
Maybe you need to turn offthose notifications and I get it
, it's hard, or saying no tothat late meeting, because that
(03:55):
may speak volumes to your kids.
While you want to show themthat hard work is honorable, you
need to show them that youridentity is not found in your
job too, it's found in Christ, because family can't just be an
afterthought, it has to be apriority.
And presence is the mostpowerful form of provision,
(04:15):
because when your kids see thatthey matter more than your next
deadline, bro, you're instillinga sense of security in them and
worth that money can't buy.
So there you go, work hard, butknow when to shut it down.
And the last one I'm ahypocrite for saying this one,
(04:36):
but I do.
I've gotten better.
It's still not 100%.
I'd say we're probably 40, 50%on this.
And this is pray with yourspouse out loud, because prayer
is an understatement utilizedtool in Christian marriages.
It's also one of the mostpowerful.
If you're praying with her outloud, bro, you're inviting God
(04:59):
into your relationship andthat's modeling, particularly if
your kids see this.
Your kids see you model thatspiritual intimacy directly.
And they ain't got to beperfect, because lots of prayers
are just messy, right, andthey're brief.
But God hears you and your kidshear you.
(05:20):
And when they hear you justjust talking to God, man.
They're witnessing yourdiscipleship journey in action.
They start associating lovewith humility and unity and all
this stuff with prayer anddependence on God.
Start associating love withhumility and unity and all this
stuff with prayer and dependenceon God.
And those prayers are buildingsomething powerful A home where
God's presence is real.
(05:41):
It ain't just preached, bro,it's real.
So I just want to encourage youPray with her guys, pray with
her, and I have some other tipson how to do that.
So if you need help prayingwith your spouse, send me a note
, chris, at TheLambethanus, I'dbe glad to help you out with
that.
There's three tips Take a walkwith those two kids, working
(06:03):
hard but knowing to shut it down, and pray with your spouse out
loud.
I don't have a copy here withme, but my kids had this a lot
growing up.
It's the NIV adventure Bible.
Those things are awesome foryour kids.
They're awesome.
There are lots of kids' Biblesout there, for sure.
I just like the adventure one.
If you want another translation, you have to go find other
(06:23):
kids' Bibles and things likethat, but that that NIV
adventure Bible is really fun.
It's got a lot of really greatillustrations and stories inside
of it, so hopefully you guyscan check that out, all right.
So let's get to our dad joke Now.
Dad joke First one what do youcall someone with nobody and no
(06:44):
nose?
Well, nobody knows, that'scrazy.
All right.
What do you call someone withnobody and no nose when nobody
knows?
And number two I have a jokeabout chemistry, but I don't
think it's going to get areaction.
So let me know which one youlike, fellas.
Number one and number two whatdo you call somebody with no
body and no nose?
Nobody knows.
And I have a joke aboutchemistry, but I don't think it
(07:06):
will get a reaction.
So let me know which one.
Number one, number two eyerolls totally count.
That's what it's all about.
So if you get a little sigh, account, that's what it's all
about.
So if you get a little sigh, that works as well.
But the question of the week, fellas, is who truly leads the
spiritual direction of your homeright now?
You've got to ask that toyourself, and then you have to
be honest with the response.
And if it's not you, it's okay.
(07:29):
Change can start today, bro,and if you need help with that,
this is literally why we havethe lion within us.
We can come alongside of you,we can help you, we can equip
you.
We can help you be the leaderGod intends you to be.
It ain't just a tagline, it'swhat we do, and we do that with.
We can help you with the dailyspiritual kickoff, just giving
you some insight.
That's one way.
(07:50):
It's very passive, though.
Second best way join acommunity, because then you can
start coming and talking, havingquestions.
We can have that fellowship, those times to help each other.
The best way, though, by farleadership mastermind.
Well, chris, I'm a mastermindmaterial.
Okay, let the evil one keeptelling you that that's what you
don't believe, then believe thelie from the pits of hell.
(08:12):
But you are mastermind material.
Because you're masterminded, bro, you surrender your life to
the Lordship of Christ.
He is guiding and directing you.
Yes, you are absolutelyqualified.
It's time to talk about this sowe can give you some tips and
some insights and reflections, some encouragement as you try to
lead.
(08:32):
Well, this could be at home, could be in your career,
whatever it may be.

I've got something big to share.
We're making a major shiftbecause we know the battle is
real and it's time more men hadaccess to the support they need.
For too long, guys have beentrying to carry the weight alone
pressure at work, tension athome, wounds from the past in a
world that demands strength butoffers no place to rest.
We see it, we've lived it, andthat's exactly why we built our
(10:21):
community.
It's a stronghold, a placewhere warriors can find rest,
truth and a band of brothersstanding beside them.
And starting now, we're makingit easier than ever to step in.
We've lowered the barrier tojust $15.99 a month.
That means, for less than thecost of a drive-thru lunch, you
can join a brotherhood that'scentered on Christ and built for
(10:41):
growth.
Inside you'll find access toour daily spiritual kickoffs
every Monday through Friday, ourLion Lunches, our Bible Studies
, our Friday Forge Gatheringsall that and so much more.
Every man needs a strongholdand you don't have to fight
alone.

it.
Go to thelionwithinus and jointhe community and see for
(11:03):
