In today’s episode, Dr. Shanon covers chapter two of her book, Naked and Exposed. The theme: What is intimacy, and why is it so elusive?
In modern society, the word “intimacy” is often closely associated with sexual acts. However, it goes beyond that! Intimacy is the closeness and comfortability you share with your partner. It is a cherished, shared experience that, unfortunately, and get lost in translation.
All couples have a story of how they fell in love. When couples come into my office, I can identify a lack of intimacy just by their body language! Crossed arms, empty space between them, lack of eye contact with each other; you get the picture.
When we have and intimate body, emotional safety and security in our relationships, we are able to share how we are feeling or how our partner makes us feel, without fear of rejection. Lets get our momentum back and become a safe place for our partner’s emotional needs!
