Speaker 2 (00:32):
Welcome to the show
leaders.
In this episode we are going togo through three ways that you
can practice that are going toradically change how you show up
, how people perceive you.
In 30 days or less, people aregoing to be seeing you as the
most confident version of you,and it's a lot easier than you
(00:55):
think.
So I've been coaching topleaders, entrepreneurs,
professionals, artists for over11 years and I would say about
80% of those people have come tome and said Lisa, I want to
work on my confidence.
I want to feel more confident.
I feel like I should be moreconfident.
(01:16):
I've achieved a lot, but I stillfeel like I shrink in places.
I still feel like I can't, likeI shrink in places.
I still feel like I can't getmy ideas out the way that I want
.
In certain circumstances I justhide out in the corner and I
(01:39):
don't really interact the way Icould.
And a lot of times when peoplecome to me for confidence,
what's really going on is wealso need to work on self-esteem
, because confidence is veryfluid.
Confidence kind of blows likethe wind.
One day you can feel really, really confident, you can feel
like on top of the world andanother day you can wake up and
(02:02):
you can feel the completeopposite, and that's okay,
that's normal.
Confidence can go up and down Alot of time.
Confidence is related to yourconfidence in your abilities.
Or if you've had a week whereyou are doing things like when
(02:22):
I'm lifting weights consistentlyheavy weights my confidence
goes through the roof.
Confidence is also tied to ourbody, what we are doing with our
body.
If we are sitting up tall, ifwe have our shoulders back, if
we're walking with confidence, that has an effect on how we
(02:48):
feel.
So if we're having a week wherewe're not feeling confident,
we're kind of slung over, we'rein our heads, we're thinking a
lot that is going to lead to usfeeling not as confident.
So confidence is very fluid.
Self-esteem, however, when wework on our self-esteem and we
(03:10):
get our self-esteem up, when wereally focus in on believing in
ourself, in healing what needsto be healed, that it is having
an impact on our self-esteem.
That it is having an impact onour self-esteem when we start to
surround ourself.
I always say, if you don'tbelieve in yourself fully yet,
(03:33):
surround yourself with peoplethat are gonna speak words over
you so you can lean on theirbelief until you fully embody it
.
So at the core is always thisdeeper work on self-esteem.
However, I'm gonna give youthree things you can practice,
because I know a lot of myclients.
(03:53):
I know a lot of my people in mycommunity.
They love to do things.
They love the things that theycan practice.
So, if you want to appear moreconfident in 30 days or less,
even if you don't feel, it yetthese are the three things I
want you to start doing.
(04:13):
First one even Trump'sconfidence is conviction.
If you want to appear moreconfident, you have to start
getting convicted in your ideas, what you bring to the table,
what you have to share, and youhave to share it in a way where
(04:38):
people are like, whoa, okay, Ineed to listen in here because
this is important.
Oh, okay, I need to listen inhere because this is important,
and it's a lot less about whatyou are saying and it's a lot
more about how you are saying it.
This is what I want you topractice, because when you are
(04:59):
convicted and you show up in away where you're not only using
your inner conviction, so if youdon't believe in your ideas, or
if you are always checking withother people if this is okay or
(05:20):
does this seem right, we needto cut that.
And getting other people'sopinions or feedback is fine.
There's nothing wrong with that.
But there's a big differencebetween getting feedback and
then running it through yoursystem and saying, okay, do I
agree with this, is this truth,or do I feel like, hmm, nah, I
(05:41):
don't think this is goodinformation?
Are you asking for feedback andthen immediately taking someone
else's feedback as the rightand totally dismissing your own
idea.
We need to work on yourconviction in who you are, what
you know, what you have to offer.
(06:03):
So, again, I work with a lot oftop leaders who are highly
intelligent, absolutelyfantastic at the work that
they're doing, but they don'talways see that, they don't
always feel like that.
There's a lot going oninternally that we have to work
on.
But starting to get, even ifinternally you don't feel it yet
(06:26):
, you can practice gettingconvicted in your ideas, really
seeing your ideas as important, because if you don't see your
ideas as important, nobody elseis going to see your ideas as
important or what you have tooffer.
(06:46):
And this is true in alldifferent industries, whether
you're a business owner, whetheryou are in senior management,
whether you're in C-suite,whether you're in sales in real
estate.
Well, especially if you're insales, you got to start.
You have to be convicted inwhat you're offering.
(07:08):
So I've been in sales for along time and the reason I can
sell to people that have onlybeen talking to me for half an
hour 45 minutes an hour isbecause I am convicted in what I
am sharing and what I amoffering.
Now, being convicted isn't aboutfeeling like you are faking it.
(07:34):
We can't fake conviction.
You can't be truly convicted insomething that you don't
believe in because it's going tocome across to that person as I
don't really know.
We're not buying it.
So it's not about faking it.
It's about doing some work, some journaling.
(07:56):
Why is my idea so fantastic?
What about me is actuallypretty amazing.
What about what I have to offeris freaking fantastic.
And write out a list of ahundred things and read that
(08:18):
consistently for at least twoweeks and feel into it to really
shift that belief.
Because when you are sharingsomething, you have to be
convicted in it.
It can't be something like thiswhere you're just kind of like.
So I was thinking about maybethis idea you know it could kind
(08:44):
of be good for you.
No, you know it could kind ofbe good for you.
No, what?
No one's going to believe that,no one's going to buy into your
idea.
So the first step is we got tobe convicted.
We have to be convicted in whatwe are sharing.
So that's practicing yourbelief.
If you don't have that belief, you do the list A hundred things
(09:06):
, you start reading it, youstart feeling into it daily.
Look at yourself in a mirror, eye to eye, and read out that
list out loud.
I am freaking amazing becausedot dot dot.
This is a freaking amazing ideabecause dot dot dot and you are
(09:26):
connecting into it.
We are shifting the pathwaysaround our belief.
So next is we have to cut thefiller words.
So when you are sharingsomething and you are convicted
if when you are sharing it, youare adding a lot of filler words
(09:48):
, like this is an amazing idea.
You know, because it's likethis and also this is why it's
great because you know that it'sgoing to detract from the
energy.
From the energy, the morefiller words, the less someone
(10:14):
is leaning in and trusting andfeeling confident in your idea.
So one of the best things thatyou can do is record yourself
speaking.
Just record yourself.
Don't try to not use the fillerwords, just speak normally.
And use a transcription servicewhere you can see the filler
(10:34):
words.
There are many, many differentsoftwares that you can use.
That AI will highlight all thefiller words and it's really
important that you go in andmake sure that you can see what
patterns that you have.
The first time I did this, Ihad a lot of patterns.
(10:57):
I think one of the most commonones.
I said it was like and I saidokay, I got to cut this filler
out, this is too much.
So what you want to do is youwant to first set the intention
that and plug it in this is youspeaking and commanding yourself
.
This is you speaking andcommanding your reality.
(11:20):
I am no longer saying like, Iam no longer saying, I no longer
say you know, and when youspeak, when you start practicing
and you catch yourself, right,it's just about taking notice.
(11:41):
Oh, caught myself.
Nope, I don't say that anymoreUntil you are practicing and you
can see your transcription thatit's less and less and less.
You are training yourself.
This is a process of training,so have patience and be
consistent with it, because themore you can speak, when you are
(12:04):
speaking and you are convictedin your idea, and conviction is
energy.
You cannot fake it.
It has to be in your body.
You have to be fully convictedmind, body, soul in what you are
sharing and you do so withoutfiller words.
(12:25):
Wow, that alone is going to behuge.
Most people are not operatinglike that.
If you show up in a meeting andthis is how you are coming
across, people are going to leanin and listen.
Third thing I want you to do ispractice raising your voice and
(12:51):
also speaking from right downhere, belly speaking, not from
up here.
So we want to raise our voice.
You ever notice when you're ina meeting or you're somewhere
and someone is speaking, theyhave a loud voice.
We automatically this is peoplehave ideas about you.
(13:14):
They make ideas about youinstantly, like this when we
hear someone with a loud voicespeaking, we instantly think, oh
, it's likely a confident person, that's a confident person.
We think we want to make surepeople are viewing you as
(13:35):
confident.
So raise your voice.
It doesn't mean you have tostart screaming.
We don't want to startscreaming, but we want to talk
in a louder voice.
So when I'm talking like this,if I'm in a room with a bunch of
CEOs, I'm going to go in therewith a louder voice because
(14:02):
instantly I'm going to appearmore confident than if I came in
and I was sharing it like thisand I was sharing it like this.
So even if I'm sharing it likethis and I'm not using my filler
words, it doesn't come acrossthe same and again, we want to
(14:27):
make sure that you are comingacross confident, whether you
feel more confident or not, butlet me tell you, if you do these
, you are going to feel moreconfident in 30 days.
Confidence a big part ofconfidence is understanding that
(14:47):
.
It's fluid and it's okay if oneday you feel more confident
than another day.
The most important part is thatyou feel good about yourself,
that your self-esteem is highand that you are convicted in
whatever you are sharing.
If you're selling something, you're convicted in what you're
selling.
If you have an idea you'rebringing to the table, you are
(15:10):
convicted in your idea.
We sell all day long.
We are selling our ideas allday long.
Try this and come back to me in30 days.
Send me a message on Instagram, send me a DM and tell me what
has happened.
