Time to be a Magnetic Leader.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
Welcome to the show
leaders.
This is the Magnetic LeaderPodcast.
I am Lisa Jeff, your host andyour coach and intuitive.
I've been helping leaders, entrepreneurs and visionaries
step into unshakable confidence, clarity, purpose and success
(01:56):
for over 11 years, and I'mexcited to talk to you about a
practice that is not only funbut it is highly, highly
effective, and this is thepractice of creating and
(02:17):
embodying your alter ego.
If you've been a one-on-oneclient with me, you've likely
gone through this process.
Your alter ego isn't somethingthat is fake.
This is one thing I want peopleto really understand.
(02:38):
It's not a fake character thatwe are creating.
It's the fully activatedversion of you that already
exists.
A lot of people think that thisversion of them that they keep
(02:59):
kind of tuning into seeing, oftuning into seeing you know, if
you see someone on stage orthere's an actor or a musician
that you're drawn to, or someonein business, an entrepreneur or
whoever it is, you're drawn tothat person for a reason.
(03:23):
This is not random.
You are seeing within them apart of you that is there to be
activated, and when we createyour alter ego, this is you
coming online.
So, if you can think aboutpeople like Beyonce she created
(03:48):
Sasha Fierce to own the stage.
Is Sasha Fierce a fakecharacter?
No, of course not.
Sasha Fierce is a part ofBeyonce.
We are multi-dimensional.
We are not flat people.
(04:08):
Now, society has made it seemlike we are in a box, right.
We give ourselves labels likewe are a mom or we are a dad, we
are an entrepreneur, we are acoach, we're a designer, etc.
Etc.
And we kind of start performingin this little box.
(04:32):
We're so much more than thatand our alter ego allows us and
gives ourselves permission tostep into that energy that we've
been holding back.
Another person who used alterego was Kobe Bryant Black Mamba.
(04:54):
Right, these alter egos aren'tpretend.
They are an activation of theirhighest selves, our highest
selves.
Our alter ego is the version ofyou who is bold, clear,
unstoppable.
They already exist inside ofyou.
(05:17):
My alter ego is called Lady J.
I have Lady J tattooed on myarm.
When I look at Lady J, it is areminder of who I am, beyond the
stories of limitation, beyondstories of one of my challenges
(05:42):
that I had to move through overthe years Because I am highly
sensitive, which means I pick upso much information from the
world.
I pick up so much informationfrom people, and this is one of
the the benefit of being highlysensitive is it creates my work.
(06:06):
It allows me to go so deepwithin people.
Because I am picking up so muchinformation, I can see exactly
what that person needs.
I can understand within a fewminutes what is going on with a
person.
Obviously, this is hugelybeneficial for my coaching
career because it allows us togo so much more in depth with
(06:30):
our work.
But also in my personal life, itcan be a challenge because I am
picking up so much information.
Sometimes it can hinder me fromsaying certain things or doing
something that I actually wantto do, because I am so concerned
how this would affect someone.
(06:50):
And part of my healing journeywas releasing the need or that
desire to try to control asituation, because it's none of
my business how a person takeseverything, as long as I'm being
respectful and operating fromthe heart.
And Lady J, my alter ego helpedme to embody that confidence
(07:14):
and courage and power.
So our alter ego again is apermission, step to step into
the energy that you've beenholding back.
Right, it allows us, it givesus a name.
Right, it gives us something toanchor this version of ourself
(07:37):
in.
So we want to have fun withthis, because our alter ego is
not something that should beboring or a snore fest.
I want you to start to thinkabout the people that you are
drawn to.
Who are you drawn to?
When you see them, you're like, wow, I love the way that person
(08:00):
dresses, I love the way thatperson commands a room.
I love whatever it is aboutthem.
It can be anything.
It doesn't have to be somethingbig and bold and in front of
everyone, like Sasha Fierce orit may be.
You admire someone who is veryintrospective, who is very
(08:25):
well-spoken.
It can be anything.
Again, this is activating theparts of you that you are a
little bit insecure aboutbringing online or you're a
little bit holding back orthere's a little fear in those
areas.
So once you can kind of feel inand say you know what I really
(08:47):
like, this For me, I love peoplelike Freddie Mercury or Elvis
Presley.
I am attracted to huge, big, bold stage presence.
So once you find that person, Iwant you to kind of tune in and
get clear.
How do they walk into a room?
(09:09):
Right?
This is the part where we'rejust kind of mapping out your
alter ego, right?
We want to get clear.
Who are they right For?
Beyonce working with SashaFierce?
I'm sure she had to get clear.
Well, how is Sasha Fiercewalking on stage?
You know, how does she commandthat stage?
(09:30):
How would she handle challenges, like if someone jumped on
stage and tried to?
You know, come and grab herright?
There is different ways peoplewould handle that.
If you look at Michael Jackson, when Michael Jackson used to
have people jump on stage, hehandled it in a certain way.
(09:53):
He was very fan-focused,whereas someone like I can't
remember his name, but he has acompletely different stage
presence and he would basicallylike push people off the stage,
where Michael Jackson wouldembrace them.
And again, we're not saying oneis better than the other.
(10:16):
This is just about gettingclear.
Who is that alter ego?
How do they dress?
A lot of times I speak topeople and they have this
version of them that they cansee, but it seems so far off
from them that they're seeing itas like another person or
(10:41):
something so separate from them.
And if it's in your mind's eye,if it's something you can
visualize and you feel connectedto this, this is not random,
this is a part of you that wantsto be explored.
So how does that person dress, allowing yourself to feel into
(11:01):
it?
What do they do inconversations?
How are they?
How is their presence?
Are they more subdued?
Are they more big and bold?
What does that look like?
What does that sound like?
Do they have a signature?
Look, what is that?
(11:25):
I want you to kind of play withthis and get clear.
What is that alter ego thatfeels so magnetic to you.
I map it out, literally, grab apiece of paper and start
writing.
Go on to Pinterest.
What are you drawn to?
Go through some kind of catalogwhere you can see different
(11:49):
artists.
Who are the artists that you'redrawn to?
How is their presence?
Are they soft and warm andwelcoming?
Are they challenging and fierceand fiery?
This is again the part of youthat wants to come online.
Whatever you are drawn to,there are elements that we want
(12:12):
to put into your alter ego.
So, once we have some kind ofmapped out, whether you're
writing it, using significantmagnetizing words to describe
them, whether this is a visualPinterest board To be honest, it
(12:34):
would be helpful if it's amultitude of different things so
you can really, really getclear what this is I want you to
start to play with it in yourown life, right, this is part of
you activating that alter ego,right?
It's you playing in that energy, not hoping and kind of seeing
(13:00):
it as, oh, I would love to bethat person.
I would love to be that person,but I don't think it's ever
gonna happen.
No, this has to be that person, but I don't think it's ever
going to happen.
No, this has to be you notthinking about it or
overthinking about it or gettinginto your head.
But this is about you startingto move like that alter ego.
(13:20):
Right, your alter ego doesn'twait until they are ready.
They just show up For me.
I use my alter ego anytime Ineed that boost of confidence,
anytime I need to release anykind of small behavior or when
(13:41):
I'm shrinking.
That's a perfect time to bringyour alter ego online.
If you're someone who does notlike networking and cringes at
the thought of going to aconference and having to shake
hands with 20, 30 people andintroduce yourself and make
conversation and you're justcringing time to tap into your
(14:06):
alter ego, give them a name.
Again.
My alter ego's name is Lady J.
If I need Lady J to come onboard, I instantly can snap into
that.
Lady J walks into a room withher shoulders back, with a
(14:29):
natural flow, she commands theroom.
Her presence alone speaksvolumes.
Lady J is charismatic.
She introduces herself, sheasks questions about other
people, she's interested inother people, she puts herself
(14:52):
out there Now and again.
This is part of me, lisa Jeffs.
I do this as well, butsometimes I can get into my head
and I can flip into a moreawkward state and I can flip
into a more awkward state andthen I just want to hide out in
a corner of a convention eatingmy snacks and drinking my coffee
(15:17):
and I can be very content inthat corner.
But if I came to that eventwith the intention of making
connections and leaving knowingthat I put my best bold foot
forward, then I'm going to bringLady J online and I'm going to
(15:40):
let her take the stage.
And until you start doing this,it may make no sense to you.
You're like what do you mean?
You just flip into this Lady Jand she just takes the stage.
What are you even talking about, lisa Jeffs?
That's why I need you to startdoing it.
I need you to practice this.
The first step is getting clearwho this alter ego is and don't
(16:02):
feel like you need to getsomething clear right, then and
there.
This is a practice.
You may find that your firstversion doesn't truly suit you.
You may need to do this manytimes to get to your core
version.
That's okay.
But then I need you to practice, right.
(16:24):
We're going to be activatingthe alter ego, right.
You are no longer you trying tofigure things out.
You're the magnetic version ofyou, who moves with certainty,
who moves with confidence, whomoves like they command spaces
(16:44):
in whatever shape or fashion.
That is right.
This is you stepping into youralter ego.
So, for the next week, beforeany big moment, I want you to
step into your alter ego.
Let them lead, let them shineand watch how things shift.
(17:06):
If you have an importantmeeting, I want you to go in as
your alter ego.
If you're someone who doesvideos online YouTube, social
media some of my clients haveonline presence I want you to
record a video in that energy ofyour alter ego.
(17:29):
I want you to show up to familyoutings that you normally don't
feel very great in.
Show up as your alter ego.
I want you to practice this fora week, right?
True confidence isn't aboutwaiting until you're ready.
It's about deciding who you areand stepping into that version
(17:53):
of you.
Now your alter ego is a versionof you who already knows that
they belong, that they cancommand a room, that they are
magnetizing.
Let them take the lead thisweek.
Have fun with this.
This can get really, really, really fun when you get out of
(18:18):
your head, get into your heartspace, let go of all the
insecurities and map out thatconfident, magnetizing ultra-ego
in whatever that is for you.
(18:38):
Now, if you're ready to stepinto your highest self and move
with confidence and you wantmore of this kind of these
processes, you want to go deeperinto this.
Reach out, let's talk, let'shave a conversation about
private coaching or my magneticleader accelerator.
