for, brought to you by lisajeffs, the magnetic leader.
It's time to soar.
Tap into your power of anentrepreneur.
(00:21):
Level up, step it up, because Ibelieve, find your purpose.
Time to be a magnetic leader.
Welcome to the show leaders.
If you are new here, my name isLisa Jeffs.
I'm an executive and life coachand have been coaching business
leaders and entrepreneurs foralmost 12 years now, and
(00:46):
entrepreneurs for almost 12years now.
And what I want to share withyou today is how to rewire your
brain to go from being anemployee mindset to a leader.
And I'm speaking to my seniorleaders, I'm speaking to my
executives.
I'm speaking also to myentrepreneurs, because a lot of
people will go into business forthemselves and create another
(01:07):
job as opposed to really seeingthemselves as a leader.
You may be surprised to knowthat at one point, I did not see
myself as a leader at all.
In fact, I didn't even desireto be a leader.
It wasn't even something Ithought to myself.
Hey, I would really like tolead, becoming the leader that I
(01:31):
am today and guiding andcoaching others was really a
process of me first steppinginto my inner leadership.
Moving away from the employeemindset can show up as I have to
work really hard.
I don't trust myself.
(01:53):
I'm always looking outside ofmyself for guidance.
I'm not trusting my own answers.
It can look like feeling likeeverything is a mess.
It's all over the place.
Maybe your personal life isn'tin order.
Maybe things at home feel allover the place and it can show
(02:16):
up in your work as giving off anenergy of.
Can I trust this person?
Can I really trust this personto lead me?
They don't really seem likethey're leading themselves.
So the first step in my journeywas inner leadership.
(02:37):
I had to really start to lookat where am I not showing up
taking care of me?
And again, if you know my work,we release all judgment.
This is not about judgingyourself.
This is not about beingself-critical and pointing the
finger.
This is about just beingcurious, getting curious.
(02:59):
Okay, where am I feeling like Iam not leading myself?
So for me, my patterns it showedup in what I was eating, what I
was doing or not doing.
So I would overwork, I wouldsit at the computer for far too
(03:20):
long, to where it was becoming ahealth concern.
I wasn't getting up, I wasn'tmoving around, I was sitting
there, I was working, feelinglike I had to make something
happen.
This goes into the energy ofcreation.
If you're new here, you knowthat I talk about the practical
(03:41):
and I also talk about theenergetic.
I like to call it highperformance with soul.
We are not just physical beingsdoing, we are energetic beings.
So for me, what was driving thismindset, this employee mindset,
was I have to do all this, Ihave to figure it out, it's all
(04:03):
on me.
I need to work really hard orelse I'm not going to get the
results that I want.
A lot of my shift intoleadership happened about 10
years ago, where online it wasreally popular, the whole hustle
mentality.
It still is out there, but notnearly as much as it was 10
(04:24):
years ago, and I fell into thatand it was more about how much
can I produce than reallystepping back and looking at it
as a leader and saying is whatI'm doing even giving me the
results that I want, or am Ijust staying busy for the sake
of staying busy?
(04:47):
So first step, taking an honestlook.
Where is your inner leadership?
What gauge is it on?
Is it lacking?
What area is it lacking in?
Are you taking care of yourbody in whatever capacity that
is for you?
(05:07):
It's important that you knowwhat works for you, not just
following a cookie cutter planthat you don't feel good in.
So this is the inner leadershippart, because the more you
focus on inner leadershiplooking at your thought patterns
throughout the day are youallowing the inner critic to run
wild?
(05:27):
Are you allowing fear and lackand limitation to dictate how
you are feeling throughout theday?
The more you can assess andmake adjustments where needed,
the more you are going to feelconfident in your own ability to
lead yourself, which, in turn, you're going to feel confident
(05:48):
in leading others.
If you are feeling like you arenot even leading yourself, it's
going to be very hard to stepinto the role of a full embodied
leader to lead others when youhave this story going on in your
mind of but I don't even havemy own stuff going.
(06:09):
How am I going to lead others?
So that is number one airleadership.
And if you need support withthis, if you need help, you can
book a test drive, consult, oryou can email me at
infolisajeffscom and learn moreabout my offerings.
So number two this is a big one, and this is one that I really
(06:31):
had to learn myself Learn how totrust yourself.
Now, caveat here that having aset of advisors is beneficial,
especially when you are startingout.
If you're just starting yourjourney, it is helpful to have a
(06:53):
small group of advisors, one tothree, that you trust.
However, we don't want tobecome codependent on these
advisors and trust themblatantly without learning how
to tune into your own system andhow to trust yourself, because,
(07:16):
as a leader, part of your jobis to determine we're going to
go this way or we're going to gothat way, or we're going to do
this or we're going to do thatand trust in yourself enough to
follow through.
My journey in this was when Igot into this world again, when
(07:37):
I started to open my businessand I really started to step
into the leader role.
I had my coaches and I had mymentors, and at the beginning,
these people really helped toshift how I viewed myself, my
confidence, and they did give meguidance on my path.
(08:00):
Now, what I found after yearswas I needed to start trusting
myself.
Of course, you're going to haveyour support team, especially if
you are someone who is learningand growing and expanding.
As you expand, you're going tohave more questions.
(08:21):
Things are going to be new.
You need to have a group andyour advisor group is going to
learn and grow and expand withyou.
You may change these people.
However, what I'm saying isit's not to not get support, but
always run it through yoursystem, because this is your
life, this is your journey, andif you are a leader, part of
(08:44):
your soul growth is going to beto learn to trust yourself back
yourself.
Learn to trust yourself backyourself and not worry if the
decision you make goes wrong.
That is all part of the journey.
(09:06):
A lot of people hesitate andsit on decisions and they either
miss out or they get so worriedthat something is going to go
wrong or it's going to fail thatthey never do anything.
We want to fail.
Failure is simply data.
It's information that we cantake and use to improve Trust
(09:29):
yourself.
You are not on this journey asa coincidence.
You are on this journey becauseyou are a leader and part of
that is checking in withyourself trusting Part of the
work that I do with my privateclients is we start tuning into
the body.
(09:50):
A lot of the leaders I work withare very heady, so they're
constantly in their mind, they're constantly thinking,
they're constantly analyzing.
We have to start tuning intothe body, start listening to the
guidance of the body.
The body never lies.
The body is going to tell youwhat's up, and the more you can
learn to trust your body, themore you can learn to trust your
(10:12):
intuition and then look at thefacts and then look at the data
and then look at the informationand then make a decision.
(10:35):
The one Last one, number threeDon't be afraid of
responsibilities.
I know a lot of people who willnot go after something or not
step into a new project becausethey're scared they're going to
(10:56):
get overwhelmed, and this is avalid fear, because a lot of the
people that I work with arealready at that edge of burnout.
So I'm not telling you, if youare already feeling burnt out,
to take on a whole notherproject, but I am telling you
that if you are in a place whereyou are avoiding a level of
(11:21):
leadership because you thinkit's going to be overwhelming or
you think it's going to be toomuch for you, I want you to
really take a step back and seeit from a clearer vantage point,
because a lot of times we go tothe end point and say, oh, this
is going to be so much I don'tknow if I can do it and just
(11:42):
look at it in what's now, what'snext.
That's all I'm focusing inKnowing that as you take on this
responsibility, as you moveforward and you build that
muscle, you are going to developyour character, you are going
to develop your inner strength.
(12:03):
Your inner leader is going todevelop and as you move forward
and you're taking on moreresponsibility, you're going to
build more competence.
What does competence lead toConfidence?
What does competence andconfidence lead to?
No-transcript, you can not feelconfident or competent and you
(12:31):
can take a courageous action, which I encourage my private
clients to do, and you can thenbuild that competence very fast,
very effectively.
So, to reiterate the path, tobegin to rewire employee mindset
(12:51):
to leader mindset, to reallyhelp you embody the energy of
the leader.
And again, you can do this, nomatter where you were starting
from.
I had no even thought of myselfas a leader earlier on, much
earlier in my journey, it wasnot even a little seed of a
(13:14):
thought and then, as I startedto become my most authentic self
, what we call it in theMagnetic Leadership Accelerator
is your authentic power, selfbeing a leader, ourself being a
(13:38):
leader, showing up as a teacher, showing up as a guide.
It was just the naturalprogression.
So, first, we're going to workon your inner leader.
How are you taking care ofyourself?
If you're not, you don't judgeit, but you look at where the
gaps are.
What do you need to fill thosegaps?
Two, learn to trust yourself.
Don't outsource all yourdecisions.
Of course, have your advisors, but always tune into here what
(14:01):
is this telling you?
And trust and follow what yourbody is saying.
And if you have trouble tuningin, it's a process you can book
a test drive, consult and wewill help you create a plan to
start tuning in.
And three, don't be afraid ofresponsibilities.
(14:22):
Don't be afraid of steppinginto the more leader role.
If you're still watching thisvideo, if you're still listening
to this podcast, you are ready.
You are ready.
The people who are not ready?
They wouldn't even have clickedon it or they'd be gone in the
first two minutes.
You are ready.
You are ready for theresponsibility.
It's likely not as overwhelmingas your brain is making it.
(14:45):
And if it does becomeoverwhelming, the trick here you
still might be in the employeemindset.
Because what does the employeemindset do?
It works really hard.
Instead of being strategic andsaying I'm a leader, this is
becoming overwhelming.
Who do I need to get on thisteam?
(15:06):
Who do I need to outsource thisto?
Who can I hire on to help me?
So it's not overwhelminganymore, because, as the leader,
you're not meant to get boggeddown in the nitty gritty, not
meant to get bogged down in thetask.
If what's overwhelming you is aresponsibility, a feeling of
(15:29):
responsibility for others as I'mfeeling a lot of overwhelm for
members of my team then who canyou get on board for that
support?
Who can you get on your team tosupport you through the journey
?
Leaders need other leaders.
We all need to activate ourinner leader.
(15:51):
We are all in this together.
