Speaker 1 (00:01):
Oh good, you made it.
We are so glad you're here.
Welcome to the Mama Judy andJill podcast, an
intergenerational chat aboutlife, art and the creative
process.
I'm your host, jill, andjoining me is my wonderful
co-host and bonus mom, mama Judy, let's get started.
Hi everyone, we are so gladyou've joined us today.
(00:23):
Hi Mama Judy, hi Julie.
Well, today Mama Judy and Iwanted to let you know about a
few changes that are going to betaking place going forward on
the Mama Judy and Jill podcast.
Fun things.
To tell you the truth, mama Judyand I had a conversation a
couple weeks back where I calledher and I want everyone to
(00:43):
listen and just, I'm sure you'vebeen there before, but I'm
mentioning this just because Ithought I'd be transparent about
something that most everyonedeals with.
But anyway, I called Mama Judyand said you know we've been
doing these podcasts everysingle week and publishing them
and all, and I do the backend,so I do all the kind of the
backend, uploading it to thepodcast players and the videos
(01:05):
and all that.
And I just told Mama Judy, withmy full-time job and my life
and everything else, it wasactually becoming a little too
much, I was starting to stressabout it, and we started out
with this whole thing for it tobe fun and for the two of us to
get together, and then the bonushas been this wonderful
community that we've gainedthrough the podcast and our
YouTube videos, and so it's beenso much fun.
(01:26):
So, the problem solvers thatMama Judy and I are, we decided
how can we make this easierultimately, easier on me the
heavy lifting on the backsidewas the thing so we have come up
with a really good plan.
We believe and we hope that youwill be on board with us.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Anything before we
start mentioning what we're
talking about, mama Judy, no,everything you said is right,
jill, and I have no life, so I'mopen to doing anything you want
.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Well, and I think one
thing Mama Judy told me when we
had the conversation is MamaJudy, you mentioned about being
flexible, the word flexibility, which you chose for your word,
for the focus of your year.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
Absolutely, and this
is my first opportunity after
the first of the year to putthat into practice.
Let's be flexible in what we doand, as we said, friends, we
don't want I don't want this tobe an onerous heavy duty for
Jill.
So we're making these changesto keep the core of who we are,
(02:33):
but allow a little bit lighteron Jill's end, because she does
do all of the back end.
All I have to do is show up andpontificate a little bit.
She does all the heavy lifting.
So that's the background and wewanted to share in why we're
making these decisions.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
Yes.
So, with that being said, whatwe're going to do is we've
decided the podcast.
So if you're listening to thisright now or you're watching it
on our YouTube channel, we'restill going to have the podcast,
but we're going to be recordingand publishing it the first
Wednesday of every month.
So the first Wednesday of everymonth, starting in March 2024,
though right now it's January2024 when we're recording.
(03:17):
We decided to take the month ofFebruary off as far as
recording podcasts and all that.
So the first Wednesday in March, but you can just on your mind
you could think oh, firstWednesdays, that's when Mama
Judy and Jill are going to havetheir podcast released.
So that will be fun for us andwe'll still do this same type of
format that we've done for thelast 30 something episodes 32
(03:39):
episodes, I think we're at rightnow and so that's first off.
We'll still have the podcastportion.
And then, secondly, we're goingto introduce we wanted to do
something a little fun andthat's easier technologically, I
would say especially and ourYouTube page.
We have a lot of people thatlike to watch our videos on
YouTube and people that just useYouTube.
(03:59):
I use it also as an artist andI know when you do too, mama
Judy.
So we thought it would be funto create some content that's
specifically to YouTube andmaybe some bleeds into the
podcast.
So talk a little bit about that, mama Judy, what we're going to
do.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
Well, jill, one of
the things we talked about, of
course, is that I often getquestions on my journals how I
do a certain binding, how Iachieve a certain look, and I
thought, perhaps something likechoosing one or two things that
I do, that maybe I thinksomebody else doesn't do, we
(04:34):
could do, I don't know.
Let's keep it around 15 minutes, give or take, and we do a tip
episode or a how to, if you wantto call it that.
Remember everybody, we're stillopening to planning this, but
that is one thing I thoughtwould fit in our new format.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
Right, and so, and
Mama Judy and I both will do
that, probably Mama Judy More, but we don't know.
I mean, I love to teach and soif there's something that I
think is really cool that I'mworking on, I'm like, oh my gosh
, I have to share this.
That's the kind of stuff that Iwould pop in and record a video
on YouTube and just load it upright there, nice and easy and
helpful, hopefully, and thenMama Judy the same and then some
(05:18):
of the content.
If we feel like Mama Judy wasusing this example earlier, if
she's teaching someone how to doa certain binding or how to
create a certain page and itdoes translate to audio only, we
can for sure take the audio andput that up on the podcast and
use that as well.
But I would say a lot of ourcontent is going to be more
(05:39):
focused on YouTube, with anexception to that first
Wednesday consistently being onboth audio platforms as well as
the YouTube.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
Yes, and then you
know, if you look out there in
the technological universe, there are all kinds of things
that we could include on thosedifferent Wednesdays where we
don't have the podcast.
That would require less work onyour part, and we will be
developing those and so, jill,in order for people to make sure
(06:12):
that they know ahead of timewhat's coming up, is there a way
that we can tell them how toget that information?
Speaker 1 (06:21):
Yes, we are going to
provide a link wherever you're
watching or listening to this.
We're going to have a linkright below and it's just a
little link to join ournewsletter.
So I have been sending out anewsletter every single
Wednesday morning telling aboutthe podcast, maybe giving some
behind the scenes typeinformation, over the last
almost year at this point withour podcast.
(06:41):
So it will be no difference.
So if you get on that list, you're the first to know about
the podcast, but as well asthings that we're doing on
YouTube, I will let people knowon that.
So that's the best way.
The link will be right below, very clear.
Just join the newsletter andthen you'll be hearing from us
there.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
You bet and again, we
say this every time, but I'm
going to repeat it again if youhave any thoughts or things that
you like to see or would beinterested in, we're very, very
open to receiving thatinformation.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
Yes, indeed well, and
we want to thank you all for
being on this journey with usand continuing along with us,
and we hope that this doesn'tthrow a wrench in your style.
I feel like we've beenproducing so much content,
though maybe this will givepeople time to catch up if they
haven't already listened orwatched other episodes.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
Absolutely, and we
highly encourage you to go back
and listen to them, because Iknow for myself whether it's a
movie or a book.
I like to read them two orthree times because I pick up
something new every single time.
So we don't want those otherepisodes to die a death out in
(07:55):
the universe.
We would like you to go backand listen to them and we'll
move forward with new andcreative ideas, and perhaps we
can make this a collaborativeeffort with our audience also.
Speaker 1 (08:12):
Yes, and I wanted to
also say one more thing.
I sort of framed it up at thebeginning, but, especially for
women, I found myself that I wasburning the candle at both ends
and what happened with that wasthat I wasn't creating as much.
Yes, I was creating the stufffor this podcast, but a lot of
it was on the back end, thetechnical stuff, and then I was
(08:33):
too pooped at the end of the dayof working full time doing this
kind of stuff to then bestitching.
So I really did find myself.
I pulled back a little bit fromthe creation because this is so
important to me and it has beenfun.
I don't want this to feel likea woe is me type situation.
I love doing that back end stufftoo, but it was just a lot for
what my life looks like in thisseason, and so I told Mama Judy
(08:56):
to I'm like I haven't beenposting on Instagram for fun, I
haven't been creating as much asI want to, and that is also one
of the main parts of what wetalk about on this.
Podcasting is allowing yourselfthe space, the time, the
rituals, the routines to becreative, and that was starting
to taper off for me.
So that's why this is a fun andexciting new development within
(09:17):
our the Mama, judy and Jillpodcast.
And anyway, I just wanted tobecause I know a lot of women in
particular take on a lot moreand maybe they just don't say
anything for so long.
But there's such freedom insaying it and you can figure out
a good way to move forward, like we have.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
You know, jill,
you're, you are living that
phrase do as I say, not as I do,not as I say.
So we've been saying it, nowyou're doing it.
So my hat is off to Jill forcoming forward and saying this
is where I am, and what do youthink?
(09:54):
And we talked about it and weare coming up with the best
solutions for all of us.
I believe yes.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
Awesome.
Well, we look forward to seeingyou.
So we will have a podcastepisode, like I said, again, the
first Wednesday of March andthen every month forward.
I don't know if Mama Judydecides to drop something in
YouTube as far as a trainingtutorial or what that may happen
, and if so, again, if you're onthat newsletter, you'll hear
first.
However, we move forward inthat way and let you know about
stuff that's going to take placeas well, and we have fun little
(10:26):
things up our sleeves as far asdoing some co-working sessions
together on the YouTube channel.
I better get bigger sleeves.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
What do you think?
Speaker 1 (10:34):
Yeah, All right,
everyone, thanks for being here
with us.
We love you and happy creating.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
We do so.
Thank you all very much.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
All right, mama Judy
love you dearly Love you too, my
dear Bye, bye.
