Speaker 1 (00:05):
You are listening to The Manning Show with you and Manning,
your number one sports podcast starts now. Welcome back. A
absolute honor to be back here in the studio. The studio,
(00:28):
it might look a lot better, My face might look
a lot better. New camera, we got new lights. Yeah,
everything upgraded here on The Manning Show. It was a
fun week of sports. Thank you for all listening, viewing,
watching whatever wherever you listen. Thank you either way. It
(00:53):
was a great week and sports was humming. There was
lots of stuff going on, and I mean, man, it
was it was a lot of fun this week. I
got a lot of things to get to today because
there's a lot of things that happened in since I
(01:14):
was gone last week. So yeah, let's let's dive right in.
It's it's been I feel a little rusty here. It's
been a lot of fun watching a lot of the
games that we're on in the NFL this weekend. I
know it was a pretty obviously not as important week
(01:38):
as Week eighteen is where a lot of guys are sitting,
but it was a fun week. There was some playoff
implications that ended up happening where there are games that
are type and then the Oilers finding a way to
to beat the Kraken and just sneak one out, and
the Ducks and then four nation's rosters. We're gonna break
(02:00):
that down today as well. We have our Ice and
Fire of the Week, which is our new segment. We
also have the wild Card Team of the Week, which
means which team in sports that we think are a
little underrated right now. And yeah, that's kind of the
things that I wanted to get to, But let's start
(02:24):
with the NFL recap. Duh dun't duh dun. I'm not
part of my takes, so I'm not going to get
into that. Saturday Night football or Saturday afternoon and night.
Starting off, the Bengals come in and do their business.
(02:48):
Nineteen to seventeen victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Joe Burrow
absolutely throwing bombs they threw. He had forty six pass attempts,
Jamar Chase finding the end zone and ninety six receiving
yards as the Pittsburgh frauds Steelers and Russell Wilson who
(03:09):
barely had a fifty percent completion rate and his fraud
receiver George Pickens, who Ali commented on in the last
listener segment zero yards, one reception, George Pickens dropping balls
looking like frauds. The Steelers are in trouble nineteen seventeen Bengals.
(03:32):
Then we head down to the Ravens Browns game thirty
five to ten. The Ravens Lamar Jackson doing his job
two touchdowns, two hundred and seventeen yards, Derek Henry one
hundred and sixty one yards on two touchdowns. When Derek
cana Henry carries the ball more than twenty times, the
(03:53):
Ravens are undefeated. And when Lamar Jackson throws the ball
under twenty times, they are also undefeated. One of those
did happen and they ended up winning, so huge win.
They will take that. Rashaud Baseman Bateman also finding the
end zone in that one for Cleveland, not much happening.
Bailey's happy throwing an interception to the big man, Michael Pierce,
(04:17):
the defensive tackle three hundred and fifty pounds beast of
a man and he just slid in. It was a
whole scene. It was pretty funny. But yeah, not much
of a game there. I mean, the Steelers Bengals game
was interesting, but the Steelers offense wasn't good enough to
get the job done. Then we head over to Sunday
(04:38):
where we start with the Texans and Titans and absolute
useless game twenty three fourteen Texans, not even anything to
get into that. The Bos take down the Saints twenty
seven nineteen. Really, the only implications that were in that
one is the box win they're in, simple as that
if they lose in Atlanta, wins Atlanta would be in. Also,
(04:58):
the other implication was Mike Evans hitting his three million
dollar bonus. You might have seen that online. Mike Evans
hits his bonus three million dollars, has a huge celebration.
With thirty seconds, the Bucks get the ball, they drop
a play, they get Mike Evans five more yards. He
has eleven seasons. Now he's close to the record with
(05:21):
Jerry Rice for a thousand yard receiving seasons. Wow, he
gets a thousand even though missing a large chunk of
the season. Mike Evans might be, in some people's eyes,
the greatest Buck to ever play the game and gets
his three million dollar bonus, and in his postgame conference
he said he was gonna go to the casino with
(05:42):
his family and play some Blackjacks. So that's all you
gotta know about that guy. He is quite something. The
Eagles beat the Giants twenty thirteen, obviously not a very
a useless game, Eagles taking a big win on that one.
The Patriots absolutely selling their first overall pick, Joe Milton
(06:05):
having looking like prime I don't even know prime, Prime,
Cam Newton, Prime, Aaron Rodgers. He was looking ridiculous finding
ways Kendrick Boody one hundred and seventeen yards a touchdown,
and the Patriots just bumped their way out of the
first overall pick. Which the Titans get it? Which is
(06:28):
I mean, in reality, Shoulder Sanders is gonna be the
top the top pick likely or cam Ward, but I
mean looking at the top two teams now, the Titans
are gonna take a quarterback surely, so it's gonna depend.
The Patriots might have Travis Hunter fall in their hands,
which would be excellent for them, giving Drake Mayo weapons.
(06:49):
So we'll see about That's the most useless game, but
one of the most entertaining ones. The Colts beat the
Jags twenty six to twenty three and overtime. Jonathan Taylor
massive game thirty four yards, one hundred or thirty four
carries for one hundred and eighty yards a touchdown as well.
Jacksonville Brian Thomas Jr. Flying again, looking like the best
rookie receiver, maybe tied with Malik Nighbors one hundred and
(07:12):
three yards receiving. The Bears finally get a win over
the Packers of the first one since twenty eighteen. Twenty
four to twenty two. DJ Moore hits his one thousand
yard season ninety one yards a touchdown, nine receptions for
the Bears. They pulled Jordan Love early, had Malik Wheelis
(07:33):
out there and he could not do anything. So they
just can't weren't able to get the job done. The
defense wasn't able to stop the Bears made it too easy.
The Commander's absolutely stealing on a huge win for the Commanders.
Putting in Marcus Mariota, who throws for two passing touchdowns,
looks very good, throwing at Terry McLaurin in the dying
seconds for the touchdown winner twenty three nineteen Commanders. Then
(07:59):
the big one out in Atlanta, the Panthers and Bryce Young,
Oh my gosh, we doubted him last week. We were
on him the week before Bryce Young what a week
man three passing touchdowns, two hundred and fifty one yards.
He had twenty four rush yards Miles Sanders two touchdowns,
(08:19):
seventeen carries one hundred and sixteen yards. But it was
Bryce Young's game, absolutely topp wining the Falcons defense. The
Falcons man. Their offense looked good. Drake Lonnon one hundred
and eighty seven yards, two touchdowns, Beijon one hundred and
seventy three yards two touchdowns, and it still wasn't enough.
Michael Panics looked great, their defense could not get the stop.
(08:41):
They had five hundred and thirty seven yards in the
total offense and they couldn't get the job done. So
the Panthers removed their hopes even though they knew they
were out because the Bucks won rate as they were
going into overtime and Bryce Young changing the Panthers' minds
on who he is. So I'm glad for him. He's
getting his confidence back the Jets with possibly Aaron Rodgers
(09:04):
last game. Aaron Rodgers four passing touchdowns, one interception, finding
Davante as well in his final game, throwing his five
hundred passing touchdown. He's a fifth quarterback to do so,
joining a big list of names Brett Farv, Drew Brees,
Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, and now Aaron Rodgers. So five
(09:25):
quarterbacks to throw five hundred passing touchdowns. Not much going
on for Miami. Tyler Huntley looking pretty brutal as normal.
Eight Chaane having a solid week, but again Miami and
a must win. Doesn't look good in the Colt. The
Chargers beat the Raiders thirty four to twenty. Quinton Johnson
(09:46):
a massive game one hundred and eighty six yards thirteen receptions,
three hundred and forty six passing yards for Jay Herb
two passing touchdowns. Eightan O'Connell looking pretty solid as normal,
just not being able to get the job done. Jacob
Myers a touchdown one hundred and twenty three yards, massive
game for him, but Chargers getting there their spot in
the playoffs already, and that just secured where they were.
(10:12):
Thirty eight to nothing. The Broncos beat the Chiefs Man
oh Man Bonnicks came in there, four passing touchdowns and
they controlled that football game. The Broncos didn't even need
I mean, you knew it from the start. You saw
the second when you when you saw the third passing touchdown,
you knew this game was over. Carson Wentz could not
(10:32):
do anything. They had ninety eight total yards, Like, are
you serious right now? Ninety eight passing yards. That's pretty brutal.
I mean, they had around one hundred and fifty total
yards and they could not get anything going. But it
was all their backups. So the question is for the
(10:53):
Chiefs now that they have the one seed by which
will get in get into in a second, we'll get
into the playoff bracket and how it shaped. How much
is that going to affect them? Having twenty four to
twenty five days off of football, it could come to
bite them. So that's why a lot of people were saying,
maybe you play Patrick Mahomes in this game. But again,
(11:18):
Chiefs resting their guys, which they could need anyways, the
Cardinals beating the forty nine ers forty seven to twenty four,
and maybe the most useless game of all time. Four
passing touchdowns for Kyler Murray, Josh Dobbs, I mean serviceable,
two passing touchdowns, two interceptions, Ricky pearsall looking good with
(11:41):
another touchdown sorry, in sixty nine yards and six receptions.
Then we get to the Rams and Seahawks game, the
Rams having all of their backups in and just the
Seahawks sneaking one out on fourth down in the red zone.
The Rams can't find the first down and the Seahawks
get the dub and get to kneel it out, so
(12:03):
the Sea Chickens can enjoy their win on that one.
I mean, barely beating our backups this week, and good
for them, I guess. I mean Jamie Garoppolo having a
good day, so good for him. We had a good
week from Blake Quorum, but he ended up getting injured early.
He had two rushes for twenty two yards. He's out
(12:26):
for the rest of playoffs, which is too bad, but
we didn't really use them that well this week anyways,
so I guess not much we can do. Ronnie Rivers
will do just fine. He had eighty two yards in
this game. But yeah, Jimmy Garoppolo is showing, which gives
me confidence if something happens to Stafford, we at least
know he'll do something. So he played pretty well in
(12:48):
that game, and seeing a Seahawks team which is pretty decent,
gives me some more confidence in him. And just get
to see some of the Rams guys who didn't get
as many opportunities, they put up battles, so good for them. Props.
The Lions win in Sunday Night primetime football for the
first NFC seed. The Rams now taking on the Vikings,
(13:11):
the loser of that football game. We'll get into that
rate after this. Thirty one to nine Jamira Gibbs four touchdowns,
four bomb. Imagine how many points is that in fantasy?
He has forty five points in Fantasy for four touchdowns.
(13:31):
Unbelievable stuff. One hundred and thirty nine rush yards on
twenty three carries. In my opinion, he's the best running
back in the NFL. No dis iss saque, but when
he is getting all the carries, he is the best
running back in the NFL. I'm just trying to stay
conscious of my mic levels here because sometimes it can
(13:52):
be a little little glitchy. Nothing going on for Minnesota.
Sam Darnold looking like his usual so justin Jefferson absolutely
silenced in that game. They also dropped a pick six
earlier in the game, and after that it kind of
the line just kind of took over. So lines even
(14:13):
though with the twelve guys on ir on defense, proving
that they are still probably the best team in the
NFC behind the Eagles in my opinion. But we'll see
in playoffs you get the buye which is huge, Maybe
you get some someone back and get a little break
which is well needed for this injured team. That was
(14:36):
our Week eighteen recap. A lot of a lot of
stuff ended up breaking down to the playoffs, which we
will jump right into rate now. The Chargers taking on
the Texans on Saturday nights. Not a fun game to
(14:56):
watch if you're a Texans fan. Likely my prediction for
that game, Chargers will easily take it. They're the better team,
to be honest. The Texans missing a solid amount of
guys on offense, Tank Dell, Stefan Diggs notably, and have
not played great football recently. So they just have a
(15:17):
looked good all season. Really, to be honest, CJ. Stroud
hasn't looked good. I'd be really surprised if they find
a way to beat Justin Herbert and Jim Harball. So
John Harball, excuse me, holy cow messing this up, But Chargers,
I expect him to win this one. Not much to
break down too. If I was the Charger, that's the
(15:38):
number one team I want to face in this so
they win that likely playing Kansas City, so that's a
tougher task. But gotta beat the Texans first, and I
think they can do that for the first game Saturday
at two thirty Mountain time. Then at six pm Mountain
time on Saturday, the Steelers and the Ravens. I mean
the Steelers again, let's George pickens Man. It's got something
(16:02):
mental going on. Not Able to really do anything in
the football game. The Steelers losing their last four games
and ended up ten and seven after looking really good
in a chance to win the NFC North. Not a chance.
The Ravens been very, very good and beating the Steelers
(16:25):
the last time that they played them. Obviously the first
time the Steelers did win, but the Ravens are just
the better team. I think if Derrek Henry's running like
a monster in the playoffs, this is a chance to
win Super Bowl. I don't see how the Steelers can
stop them. The offense isn't good enough, and the defense
is obviously one of the best in the league. But again,
(16:46):
you're playing the Ravens and they couldn't stop them last time,
so I expect the Ravens easily in that game. Then
going on to Sunday, January twelfth, the Broncos and the
Bills take on each other, the Bills at the two seed,
the Broncos at the seventh seed on the AFC side.
I mean, again, simple, simple to say, I expect a
(17:09):
Bills Bills won. You know, I think the Broncos are
one of the better teams. Though they're better than the
Texans in my opinion, they're better than the Chargers. Box
has proved it, and I know they've played and the
Chargers won, but the Broncos were in that football game.
And I like the Broncos. But the Pills, I mean,
they're just a wagon. Josh Allen can cook them. To
(17:31):
be real, It's not going to be a good game
if Josh Allen is running for touchdowns and passing for
touchdowns at home. So we'll see how Bonix does in
this kind of pressure environment, but I expect Josh Allen
to kind of just handle this football game. Good showing
(17:51):
from the Broncos though, even if they do lose this
wild card round, They've had a good season and bo
Nix has really proved at that pick, which a lot
of people weren't happy, but to start the season that
they made that pick, and made that pick there picked
them higher than people would expect. He had a great season.
I mean, minus Jayden Daniels, he's in the running. Jayden Daniels,
(18:16):
Brock Bowers, Malik Neighbors, Brian Thomas, you know, they're all
in that realm of rookie of the year. So he
had a great season. But I got the Bills in
this one for sure. The Packers and the Eagles at
two thirty on Sunday, January twelfth. Packers, I mean, Jordan
(18:41):
Love hasn't been as good this year as last year,
but again they can work some magic. They're still a
great team and Jordan Love is still pretty young so
learned a lot last year. In the playoffs, they could
pull an up set against the Eagles, who really, I mean,
they're always freaking out for some reason, but their fan base,
their players, AJ Brown and Jalen Hurts always getting drama.
(19:04):
But if Saa Kwan's running like he know only does,
the Eagles are going to take this one. That's that's
my opinion. The Eagles are the best, the best, the
most in depth team in the NFC, best defense, one
of the best offenses. They got the depth to do it.
I got the Eagles in this one. The Commanders in
(19:25):
the box in a great matchup on Sunday night. That
should be a fun one. The Bucks barely sneaking into
the playoffs. It was looking for a minute there that
Atlanta had what they wanted to get in which I
would have been fine with seeing Atlanta and the Bucks
barely sneaking out past the Saints. The Commanders again, I mean,
(19:46):
they're they're good. Terry mclaurin's good, but they're gonna rely
on Jayden Daniels and the pressure might come to them, right.
The Bucks really really pressure the quarterback, and Jane Allen's
is gonna feel that pressure on Sunday. He's gonna have
(20:08):
to figure out ways to get the ball out quick.
And Jane Daniels great, great rookie of the year, bye
by far. And let's see if this pressure, which he's
big been in big games at LSU of the NFL playoffs,
see if he will handle it. Because the Bucks aren't
(20:28):
a terrible team. Baker Mayfield is a very very serve,
serviceable quarterback, very good and I'm happy for Baker in
that way. But the Commander's better offense. They're gonna rely
on their offense to buzz, So they're gonna need their
offense to really really play well, which we've seen some
stinkers and they find a way to win. But the
(20:49):
offense is good, you know, the Bucks, they'll have a
tough time keeping up. Then to the Monday night game
were my Los Angeles Rams take on the Minnesota Vikings.
The Minnesota Vikings the first fourteen win team in NFL
(21:10):
history to be a wild card team, so tough for them.
But the Vikings, I mean, coming off tough loss, not
looking great. They'll see how they'll rebound. The Rams beat
them the last two time these two teams played back
on Monday Night, all the way in October, November, I'm
(21:30):
pretty sure is October, So we'll see. We'll see how
the Vikings go to the task. I mean, they're a
good football team. They got a great defense. But the
one thing the Rams are good in at is that
good at is stopping mobile, unmobile quarterbacks. And Sam Darnold
(21:52):
doesn't move well. Right, the pressure is gonna come. The
d line for the Rams is so young and good
that it's gonna come. But we'll see. Because the Rams
roster's still young, we'll see how this playoff stuff hurts them. Okay,
so keep that in mind. The Rams are still a
young team, but I mean, I gotta go with my
(22:14):
boys in this one. The Rams, they're their offense. If if,
if the offense is buzzing and the defense does enough,
we'll win. I like our offense better than the Vikings offense.
I like our running back better. I like our receiving
corps better, maybe Cooking Cup if Cup is back to
(22:39):
normal Cup. I like our receiving corps better. It's close,
but I actually would take the Vikings receiving corps if
if if Cup is back to normal Cup, I'll take
the Rams. But he's not, so I would take the
Vikings receiving corps. Uh, the running backs. I like the Rams,
oh line. I like the Rams defense. I do like
(23:00):
the Vikings, but the Rams can bring some prospers. So
we'll see how Sam Darnold handles that. And that is
our wild card preview for the NFL. As we hit
the twenty two minute mark on this podcast, Wow a
long one we have in store for you today. Oh
(23:24):
I did forget to give my pick for Sunday. I
do have the Washington Commanders in the Commanders versus Box game,
so taking the last two underdogs or I guess underdogs
in seeding. In this one, let's transition to some Edmonton
(23:46):
Oilers hockey now, which has been fun to watch. Let's transition. Okay,
the Edmonton Oilers as this podcast released, it's gonna release
prelated nights. Yeah, so it's gonna release jan You'll probably
(24:09):
be listening to this on January seventh or January eighth.
The Oilers play the Boston Bruins on the road on
January seventh, five pm, which is Tuesday. They're coming off
since we talked, they beat Utah I'm not sure if
(24:31):
fight a pod during Then they beat the Ducks three
to two, and then they beat the crack In four
to two. Both teams. Both times they the other team
did come back, which they're not great teams to be
honest with you. The Kraken, I mean, they're gonna they're
gonna fight, but the Oilers did their job. Calvin Pickard
(24:52):
not his best game, but dry sead Hole stays hot,
scores the empty netter Nude gets on the board, and
Jeff Skinner and Podzilla's or I mean, let's let's let's
let's start with Jeff Skinner. Give this man some top
six times, that is what I'm asking. Jeff Skinner is
such an elite goal scorer. He's not gonna be the
thirty five goal scorer they were hoping, but he can score.
(25:15):
He's got a nose for the net. Just give him
some top six times. That's all I asked. Chris, Come on, Nobby,
please give him some time. Podzilla, pod Colson fire. I mean,
he's not gonna do what Dylan Holloway does, but for
the fourth round pick that we gave up for him,
(25:35):
I love him. He's he works hard. We've seen all
the videos and stuff about him staying hard after practice.
It's good to see him get rewarded because he is
playing some good hockey and he fits really well with
Leon Drysidel, and that's what we've been wanting for the
last however long. Dry Seals finally got some real guys.
(25:55):
Man and Victor Arbitson also very very good. I'm very
happy with that addition. Two assists on the day as well.
That line is flying. I mean it all starts with
Dry but the boys are bozsing on that line. McDavid
right now, his his kind of they had they tried
Himen in the third line. That didn't really work as well.
(26:17):
But it'll they'll they'll get him, They'll get He'll get
going again. He hasn't been himself. That's the first time
in in Oiler's history with McDavid that they have won
back to back games without McDavid's corn a point where
you hear that that is crazy. They haven't won back
(26:40):
to back games without McDavid's corn a point, which makes
sense because McDavid doesn't do that that often. But I mean, hey,
they they they get the job done either way. The
Widler's also beat Anaheim when they almost came back again
Dry Tidle scoring the dagger game with a minute and
(27:02):
thirty five left in the third period. Wasn't their best
third period, but Dry again the leader in goals in
the league, getting the job done for the Edmonton Oilers.
I mean, he's he's the player of the week for sure.
You'll see on the Instagram. That's what I'm going to
put out every week now. Game of the Week, Sleeper
(27:27):
Team in the league, and Player of the Week. And
Leon dreysel Is that he's only seven points behind Nathan McKinnon. Like,
he's got more points than McDavid, which is never really happening,
twenty nine goals and the person behind him, Scheifley, has
twenty three. You know how crazy that is. He's got
(27:47):
six more goals than the person behind him and they're
around halfway to the season. That's crazy. He's he's gonna
easily get fifty for sixty right now. So I mean,
if Drive keeps eating up, if he stays hot all season,
it's gonna be a fun year for the Oilers. They
(28:09):
are on pace the Mpston Ohlers with the way they're
playing right now, to have the most points in a
regular season in team history. So that says the Mpson
Olers are playing well, but again, it'd be nice to
have some more comfortable wins over some of these teams
that they're playing. They have a really easy schedule. They
(28:31):
have a three game road trip here the January seventh Bruins,
January ninth Penguins, and January eleventh Blackhawks, so three teams
that are around five hundred or lower Bruins just over
five hundred, but again not having a great season. So
these are all Winnabowl games for the Oilers, and then
they get back to Edmonton for a one game against
(28:55):
the Kings January thirteenth. That's gonna be tough one. And
then they have the wild Avalanche and Canucks Capitals Canucks,
so they have a easy three games and then it
gets top for the next five into into late January.
But they have a lot of games in January, I
mean a total of fourteen games. In February, they only
(29:17):
have eight obviously due to four nations, which we'll get
into after this, but fourteen games that in March is
the most games that they'll play this year in a month.
So crazy stuff for the Mpton Oilers. And let's see,
they have a hard middle of January, and then it
(29:37):
gets easier at the end of January. So start off
January well and January well, middle just just do your
job and they'll they'll stay. They'll still be all stay well. Unfortunately,
because of the standings in the West the Pacific, the
Edmonton Oilers fifty one points, tied with the La Kings,
which they get to play each other. The Golden Knights
(29:59):
with fifty seven points. I don't think the Oilers are
catching them. They are unbelievable. We might unfortunately see a
Oilers Kings matchup again for the fourth time, which I
hate because the Kings are just so annoying to play against.
But yeah, maybe in the seven game series. I'm taking
the Oilers every day. You know, the Pacific has some
(30:20):
of the top teams in the league. The Knights are
the top team in the league right now, and it's
gonna be tough to catch them. Hopefully they slow down
at some point because I dislike them. Every Oilers fan
dislikes them. That was kind of our Oilers little segment.
(30:41):
They're onto the Foreign Nations rosters for those of you
that don't know FOIG Nations Tournament. Finland, Canada, US Sweden
are the four teams that is in February, which is
so exciting because for a lot of us that are
(31:02):
my age, we haven't seen international hockey. So to finally
see best on best you get mccar McDavid, McKinnon, crossb
be out there. Are you serious? I'm down and it's
gonna be fun. It's gonna be a lot of fun
to watch. I'm really excited for it. And looking at
the rosters, I mean, if I was to rank the
teams just purely on roster okay US is one. Based
(31:27):
on roster on firepower, Canada is two, Sweden is three,
Finland is four. Finland's D does not look as solid
as the rest, but they could be a bit of
a sleeper. Sweden's D is solid. Their forwards are good,
but again they always look to goalies. For Canada, they
(31:48):
don't have that big goalie. But my thing is, if
you have cal mccarr on your team and you they've
made all these guys who like cold and Peraco, big
d man, uh you got you got some guys on
the front, Brendan Hagel and Anthony Scharelli that are all
defensive forwards. That's what they're there for. So even with
(32:11):
Jordan Bennington, who I still have confidence in, Sam Mantinbau
is really good when he needs to be. They I
think they're gonna win. I mean having three of the
top four best players in the league in my opinion,
Poppy's number five Austin Matthews as also well known as
(32:32):
I think they're gonna win. I really do, And I
made a wager a bet with my friend ben If
you're listening, I mean the Canada is winning this, so
we'll see if that actually ends up happening. But that's
kind of my breakdown of the four nations. You know,
(32:53):
I expect Canada to win. They got the best guys,
so let's see them do it. Let's get into the
ice and fire of the week, starting with the ice.
After a terrible, terrible, terrible World Juniors Hockey, Canada is
my ice of the week again. I mean, we're not
(33:15):
gonna get into them. The coaching so bad, Dave Cameron's
so bad. They're gonna have to figure it out for
next year because they are just in a wreck doing
losing in the in the quarters. That's not like Canada.
Let's get back up there. Let's get back to playing
America in the finals and beating them, because I don't
like to see the US went back to back and
(33:35):
do that stupid chant at the end and everyone like
hockey is starting to drift one way. It's not just
Canada in the US. You know other teams. The US
had to beat Finland and ot so that's saying something.
I mean, they there's good teams everywhere and Canada is
gonna have to match it with their best. I know
(33:57):
they were missing a lot of their best players, but
they gotta figure it out. The recruiting process this year
was not good, and I just hate how I hate
watching them when they suck like Kinada supposed to be
the hockey central of the World's let's have the best team.
(34:18):
That's all I gotta say. The fire of the week
is Mike Evans hitting this three million dollar bonus a
thousand yards, right on pace with Jerry Rice Most a
thousand yard seasons, probably the best buck of all time,
first ballot Hall of Famer in my opinion, he's my
fire of the week. Congratulations to him. I mean, he's
(34:38):
a beast in fantasy football as well, so good job
for him. I there's not much more to say about
Mike Evans. He's just the beast. Onto our last little
thing of the day. The Los Angeles Chargers are the
wild card of the week. I really think they're underrated.
(35:00):
This is what I'm gonna get into and here's what
I think. They play really really well and really really
sound football. Their defense is yet to shown up against
big teams, but they're a good football team. And I
think against the Chiefs, which I do think the Texans
(35:21):
should be a free win. If they don't beat the Texans,
I mean, you might as well just just get out
of there. But the Chiefs, they can be a real
threat to the Chiefs. Justin Herbert Man, they put up
fights against the Chiefs. So we'll see how that goes.
Because Jay Herb with a good coach, some decent receivers,
(35:43):
I know, they're just gonna get better and eventually they'll
figure out Mahomes. That division is gonna be good in
a few years. The Raiders are gonna get the AFC
West is gonna get good. The Raiders are gonna get
a good quarterback in a high draft pick. The Chargers
are gonna be good. They're gonna get more weapons, and
(36:04):
the Broncos are good with Bonis, they're gonna get more weapons.
So it's just gonna be more competition for the Chiefs.
And everyone's happy about that. No one's complaining. No one
likes the Chiefs except Chiefs fans. So I'm not I'm
not happy. I'm not I'm not mad about that. I'm
not happy about it either, because I mean, I'd rather
the Rams team be the top team in Los Angeles,
(36:27):
but Chargers give them, give them a little bounce you know,
that would be great. Everyone's shared for the Chargers. So
if they face the Chiefs in the second round, unless
you're a Chiefs fan, which I mean you're probably a bandwagon.
If that's the case, that is my wild card of
the week. Pretty much will almost do it. As we
(36:50):
get into a little college football action, I'm just trying
to remember, Yeah, so oh you taking down Oregon forty
one to twenty one Ohio State man Jeremiah Smith two touchdowns,
one hundred and ninety two yards. That kid is going
(37:10):
to be special taking down the one seed, which ruins
my bracket. Unfortunately, it was perfect until that happens. And
then in the game possibly of the year for me
watching was Texas and ASU man oh Man thirty nine
to thirty one for Texas. That was the final in
second over time, but goodness, it came down to it
(37:35):
and Cam scattabo great, great time at ASU. He was
a beast in that football game, and they made it close.
They were down early and they found a way to
push and try and make a fight. Cam's gottaball two
hundred and forty two all purpose yards and two touchdowns,
also a passing touchdown in that game. So crazy stuff.
(37:57):
He he is a beast, so it's a tough loss
for them. And then on Thursday you had Notre Dame
takedown Georgia twenty three to ten. Georgia could not get
anything going offensively with some tough oh line injuries and
stuff going on. So Georgia gets knocked out. On the Tuesday,
(38:20):
December thirty first, which I might have already covered this,
Boise States goes down thirty one to fourteen Penn State,
showing that they're fraud and the usual one. So the
next game is the ninth, the Thursday, Notre Dame takes
on Pennes State, which is gonna be a fun one.
I got Penn State and that one for sure. They're
(38:41):
a good team. And then on Friday at five thirty
Mountain time, January tenth, Ohio State and Texas, which should
be a fun game. I go to Ohio State and
no one after that big win over Oregon because Texas
just totally, I mean collapsed in the football game against ASU.
But they again, they they're a great football team, so
(39:04):
it'll be fun to watch that one. Get it into
the last piece of news here before we wrap all
of this up. A fun one some fun news. Doug
Peterson does get fired from the Jacksonville Jaguars organization, sam
with Girard Mayo from the Patriots, which was a little
(39:26):
surprising because he's a first year coach, so we didn't
expect it. But again, he blows up their first overall pick,
which is pretty funny think about it. He probably knew
that he was gonna get fired after the game, and
he's like, oh, well, I might as well just like
remove their first round pick, because I guarantee you if
he knew that he was gonna be there, do you
think he wants the first overall pick? Of course? And
(39:48):
this is the problem about the NFL with the tanking
is that like it's there's no lottery. There's no lottery,
so it's not random to an extent, it's not random,
and if your last place, you get the first overall pick.
So teams are gonna tank. But surely Drod Mayo, they
he knew. And I'm like, okay, I'm gonna throwing Joe
(40:09):
Milton and we're gonna ball, So peace out, Drod Mayo.
I mean, can't really do much with that football team. Again,
the defense a little shaky, so that's part of the thing.
They have a great defense and it was just not
great Doug Pearson. I mean, they need he needs to go.
There's there's some decent talent there and they just can't
figure it out. So a great coach. Great with the Eagles,
(40:32):
he was. He had a pretty good stand with Jacksonville.
But onto the next chapter for Jacksonville. Overall, they're gonna
be a good football team with Brian Thomas. Now hopefully
Trevor Lawrence figures everything out. But yeah, other than that,
that was it for the day. Hopefully I didn't miss
