This is The Manning Show with you and Manny Please,
Number one sports podcast starts now. Welcome back, Episode forty one.
We got a fun one in the books, man O man,
a lot of stuff to talk about, a few really
big topics to talk.
Speaker 4 (01:01):
About, getting some i mean maybe some NFL stuff.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
Obviously, Team Canada is your Four Nations champions. We'll get
into that. We'll get into my deep dive of the tournaments.
This is kind of a late episode. I had to
do it because if Canada, I mean, I mean, I
couldn't do an episode on Tuesday while having to wait
for this, this big of a game. So I'm having
to do one off schedule at this time. But man, oh, man,
(01:25):
Canada is your champions. Vladimir Giro Junior's probably gone. We
got a lot to get into it and this will
be a fun episode, Episode forty one. Here we go,
all right, I mean we probably this is what most
people are here for. Let's start with Team Canada. Team
Canada is your four Nations champions, the first maybe last
(01:47):
as well. They ended up winning three to two with
a winning goal by your man, your myth, the legend,
Connor McDavid, the legend himself, and Canada can their dominance
on Best on Best. A lot to get into. It's
been a little while. We did one before the tournament started,
(02:08):
now we got one after the tournament started ended. Sorry,
so we have a lot to break down. We're gonna
go through Canada's path and then the finish and then
the future of Best on Best hockey. But let's start
with with Canada's path, because boyle boy, was it a
roller coaster for a team Canada as it started. The
opening night on Wednesday, February twelfth, Canada won four to
(02:32):
three in overtime. Jordan Bennington being questioned in this hockey game.
He had an eight eight save percent of Sidney Crosby
was the big, shining bright light. He had three assists,
also assisting the game winning goal by Mitch Marner. I mean,
the guy's a beast, Like there's no real way of
(02:55):
saying it, but Sidney Crosby was a beast. He probably
won the game for this team Connor McDavid got in this. Marshan,
mark Stone and mac all scored a goal in this
hockey game. But man Mitch Marner in overtime, showing that
he can do it in big moments, he scored the goal.
Sweden played really well. Philip Gustafson was very very good.
(03:16):
I know he only had an eighty five save percentage
in that game. But Canada just found a way to
beat Sweden and their their stars shined. And this is
what I was saying before the tournament start. Everyone's like,
oh u s golten, Us Goltending, Us Coultending. When you
had the best players in the world that know how
to score on Pittington, I don't know, if you remember
the Abs and Jets series last year that know how
(03:38):
to score in Hellibuck, I don't know, man, Like I
knew that the stars are gonna get to these goalies somehow,
and they proved it in this first game with day
four to three win. With a exciting opening to the tournament,
very exciting as Canada defeats Sweden, really getting everyone watching,
(03:59):
setting the tone there. There's a lot of talk coming
into the tournament, is this gonna be like some form
of an All Star Game or players not really going
to care. I'd no doubt in my mind. But this
set the tone and people had started to get recognized
widely because the NBA All Star Game is going on,
so nothing really going on, No NFL, no baseball. This
is a sporting event to watch in the world and
(04:21):
it was great to see hockey. We're really really getting
picked up. And this is the one thing about this
tournament that was great. This is the best thing the
NHL has done. A lot of people have said in
the last fifteen years, so huge shout out to the NHL.
I mean, this is a great event they put on.
We'll get into that later. Well, let's continue on. I'm
getting carried away here. I don't want to give credit
so yet. Then Canada on February fifteenth, on the weekend,
(04:47):
the US ended up being the three to one. Connor
Hallibuck with a nine to six to two save percentage
of Canada I would shot them. Jake Genzil scoring two
goals and again Jordan Bennington not a terrible game. He
had a nine to nine save percentage, but it wasn't
his best. He led in two week ones. Connor McDavid
opened the scoring five minutes in with an absolute bomb
(05:08):
pass from Drew Dowdy, who came in for Alex Pitchlangelo
to be that extra defenseman. Thomas Harley had to play
in this game because Cale mccarr was out, so Canada
was dealing with their with their injuries. McDavid was sick
coming into this. Crosby was not one hundred percent coming
(05:28):
into this. They had guys who were hurt here and there,
but Canada, man, huh, just a tough loss and it
really shook. The Kochuk brothers were really stirring stuff up.
This game started with three fights. The whistle blew dropped,
the Puck fight, Kod Chuck fought, then the other Ko
(05:52):
Chuck fought.
Speaker 4 (05:53):
Then you had J. T.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
Miller fight, so Kid Chuck and Hagel fought, Then then
Bennett and Kachuck fought, and then J. T. Miller and
Colton Pareco fought. So, I mean, man o man was
it was? It an exciting starts to the game. No
one expected them there to be three fights, and there
(06:15):
was talk about a group chat how the Kchuks planned
this out.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
It was pretty.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
Wild man, the fights and it really, it really really
boosted the hockey viewing as well. Like people who watch football,
they were getting into this game. I mean, there was
a lot of comparisons to the NBA All Star Game
because of how bad it was, and this was just huge,
like the fights. I mean, I hate the k Chucks,
(06:43):
but it brought a lot of lights on this game,
which is always what we want when you want to
keep growing the hockey hockey game. And uh, I mean
crazy it was. It was crazy, crazy stuff the K Chucks.
As much as I hate him, they played great games
in this as well.
Speaker 4 (07:01):
I mean, they.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
Played well and they showing their fights and kind of
I was saying throughout the entire tournament, I wish they
were Canadian because it would be so fun to have
them on our team. But you know, sometimes we'll get
into it in a second, but the media, Marshan's had
a basket. We'll get into that in a second. But yeah,
the K Chucks were really really talking to the media.
Speaker 4 (07:29):
Let's just say that.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
So Canada was on the verge at that point of
being if they lose to Finland, they're out. They don't
they don't get a chance to play in the final.
And they went up with a beautiful start. They were
up for nothing going into the third period for nothing.
It started off Connor McDavid getting a he took a
(07:53):
pass away, then he spun around and he sniped a shot.
Then McKinnon scored, then point scored after a beautiful play
by McDavid, So there you go. The Stars were taking
them to the promised Land. That's three points. Then mac
again after a beautiful snipe off the pass from Crosby.
They're up four to nothing going into the second period.
(08:15):
Lancanen was not good, so he'd a six nine two
state presentage. They finally pulled them, which I thought they
should have done sooner, and they probably would have maybe
won this hockey game. Sorrows was elite after that that
that next period.
Speaker 4 (08:27):
I don't know why this guy wasn't in.
Speaker 3 (08:31):
Like before that, because I know that they just beat
Sweden four to three and Lancannen played very well.
Speaker 4 (08:37):
I'd still play Sorrows man.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
He's he's so much better and just in the big moments,
I mean, have to put him there. And Canada almost
had a downfall, and this was the big talk of
this game. They scored in the final six minutes. They
scored three goals, Granlin scoring two in the final two
minutes luckily Sidney Crosby and up putting the empty at
(09:00):
her home, so they were one goal away from tying it.
Which it was a very very nerve wracking moment. I'm like,
no way Canada's going to sell this after everything Canada's
been through internationally recently, losing all the World Juniors, having
to do this, like didn't want to do it, and
then said, the kid delivers again. I mean the guy,
(09:22):
the guy's unstoppable. Samurai Hurt had three assists in this
game as well, McKinnon two goals, McDavid two points, a
goal and assist sam withth Crosbow, So you know, mccarr
was great to have him back in this game.
Speaker 4 (09:34):
I mean, really everyone, Harley looked good, everyone they had here.
It was.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
It was solid, man, they as much. I didn't enjoy
Travis Sandheim, to be honest. I thought he was a
little shaky, But I mean they played well in this game.
They deserve to win, and that now takes us to
the final because whoever, if if a team won in
regulation in the Canada Finland game, Sweden was playing the US,
which it wouldn't matter if team won regulation, because both
(10:06):
Finland and Canada beat them in head to head matchups,
so it wouldn't have mattered. But I mean, hey, Canada,
they got their regulation win so they were moving on.
And the US they didn't really have to do anything
against Sweden. They were kind of resting guys. I mean,
which makes sense because you know, you had a big
(10:26):
one against Canada and it showed Man three to two.
Coming into this game, everyone's like, okay, the USA fifty
first state, fifty first state, politics, politics, politics, this one's
gonna be hype, all these fights, all everything right, like
this is gonna be a fun, fun game. And Team Canada, man,
they delivered. It started off. It started off quick again.
(10:51):
Nathan McKinnon. He walked around, he did his little douicy
thing and then he sniped it through the screen. Throughout
the thing went top shelf On Hallibach Helbuch was like, oh,
top shelf McKinnon started this thing off. I mean, the guy,
the guy is so fun cheer for. I hate watching
them when they play the oilers, but when you have
these guys like Sam bet At, Marshan mccarr, McKinnon, then
(11:15):
they're on your team. It's like, oh, I love watching
these guys so entertaining having them on our team.
Speaker 4 (11:20):
Like man was this one. It was fun. There's not
much more to say to that, but it was.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
It was a ton of fun watching these guys play
like they were good. Unfortunately, Brady Kachuck ended up tying
it up after a beautiful play by Austin Matthews, just
throwing it on net and Kachuck got a stick out
there and it went past beating toon. Not much Bennington
could do about that one. But there's a lot of
doubts on Bennington all tournament. We'll get into him in
(11:50):
a second, but the man played a great game. Jake
Sanderson unfortunately ended up taking the lead and we're like, oh, oh,
here we go again.
Speaker 4 (11:58):
It was the exact same situation as the first game.
Speaker 3 (12:01):
Canada gets great starts in every game and it always
comes back to haunt them, and the Americans did again.
It was two to one, but luckily was six minutes left.
A beautiful feed by Mitch Marner. Sam Bennett went top shelf,
scoring a goal to tie this one up. And this
is when this third period was some of the most
(12:23):
elite third period I've ever seen.
Speaker 4 (12:25):
Watching hockey, back and forth, back and forth.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
Bennington with some big saves, and then Hellibuck had a
great third period. I mean, as much as I'm gonna
diss this guy in this overtime, he had a great
game as well. I mean, you can't get mad at
this guy. He still had he had an eight eight nine.
But the guy made some big saves in the third period.
I thought, you know, Canada hit the post at kind
(12:49):
of the end of the period there, and they could
have won this game earlier. So that's all I'm gonna say.
And then it started off going into OT. I mean
I was down here in this exact basement. I was worried, man.
I had all my friends here. I was like, oh no,
oh no, not like this. Okay, we can't lose this game.
We can't.
Speaker 4 (13:11):
And it was just one of them that McDavid's pretty quiet.
He was quiet. He was quiet tonight.
Speaker 3 (13:17):
And I mean they would just throw Jacob Slavin out
over the boards and McDavid's lineally get shut down. I mean,
as much as they look good, they got shut down
in this hockey game. Early McDavid didn't have his greatest
game in this big moment, but the last time he
did that. Last time he scored a big overtime winner
(13:38):
against Calgary. Calgary against Calgary, and what happened there? He
scored basically the exact same goal, got a pass, walked in, snipe.
It was the exact same, exact same situation, and the
guy delivered again, Connor McDavid.
Speaker 4 (13:55):
The golden goal. About as good as a Hollywood store is.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
It's gonna get a's A lot on the media was
saying passing and towards to Conor McDavid. Mitch Marner with
another beautiful pass, Austin Matthews leaving McDavid wide open in
the slot to Berry at home. But let's not forget
Bennington made three saves. He had the first one that
was elite, the second one he dove across and threw
(14:21):
out the glove on Brady could chuck, saving the game.
And then Matthews had one more and he absolutely robbed him.
Binnington one candidate of this game. No one expected that
that was gonna happen.
Speaker 4 (14:36):
No one did.
Speaker 3 (14:37):
I will constantly say I thought Aiden Hill should have
been in the net, especially in that second US game,
to see what we had out of Aiden Hill and
manho man, was Bennington good? And I think now there's
not gonna be a question on who the Canadian goloye is.
I think I still think Aiden Hill's was very very good.
But man oo man, he is a player in the
(14:59):
big He is so good once he gets there. And
that really talks about, you know, goaltenders. We don't see
it in Edmonton. And I hate people who stand up
for Skinner because look, watch, I've never seen that before.
A goalie's saving us the game. Skinner's normally not saving
us the game in a final he led in a
(15:20):
Week one against Sam Fryan Hart in Game seven.
Speaker 4 (15:22):
I will never forget that. Never.
Speaker 3 (15:25):
And here Jordan Bennington won Canada to the final as
much as McDavid. Yeah, he scored, but Jordan Bennington, madam man,
he deserves his credit. Connor McDavid burying home, stimping at
top right. And this is what I'm saying, Hellabuck in
the big games is not great.
Speaker 4 (15:44):
He's not good. He's not good like coming into this.
Speaker 3 (15:48):
I mean, he was still really good in this hockey game,
don't get me wrong, but he was way out of
his net there. McDavid had the whole top right to
shoot at and it was beautiful.
Speaker 4 (15:58):
It was just a quick release, now, was it.
Speaker 3 (16:01):
But if you're looking at a goalie who plays well
in big moments, Connor Hallibuck hasn't done it the last
three years, so I don't. I mean, he he led
in more than six goals in every game against the
Avs last year, and then the year before he didn't
play well either.
Speaker 4 (16:20):
So this guy in the big games not great, not great.
Speaker 3 (16:26):
The talk in this one, Zach Arrensky looked good, but
Matthew Kuchuck was hurt. He only ended up playing six
minutes and didn't play the second or third. So I mean,
the guy is I don't know, man, he's he's annoying
(16:48):
to watch.
Speaker 4 (16:50):
But the USD were very good. Uh they were.
Speaker 3 (16:53):
They were definitely missing, definitely, without a question, they were missing.
Quinn Hughes especially Adam Fox struggled in this but.
Speaker 4 (17:05):
Like they were good.
Speaker 3 (17:07):
Jacob Slaven is so good and I'm glad people are
seeing that now.
Speaker 4 (17:12):
He's good man.
Speaker 3 (17:13):
Uh he played twenty eight minutes of this hockey game,
so that's really all you gotta know.
Speaker 4 (17:20):
Uh so did so did Brock favorite?
Speaker 3 (17:22):
Brock favor in Jacob Slavan where they're they're they're top pairing,
and he was good, so credit to do their Their
d looked.
Speaker 4 (17:30):
Really, really good.
Speaker 3 (17:31):
I mean the other side, Kel mccarr played twenty eight
minutes and he hadn't assist on the final, the game
winning goal.
Speaker 4 (17:38):
But the guy's a beast like he was good. It
was fun watching him. I kind of wish he was
an oiler.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
I was wishing a lot of these guys were oilers
because it was just fun watching them this entire game.
I like Colton Paraco. I hope they trade for him maybe,
but all the guys who are out there. Canada was
missing Morrissey, so Harley had to come in.
Speaker 4 (18:06):
Which he was a little shaky.
Speaker 3 (18:07):
Him and Sandheim were a little shaky, but I thought
overall in the tournament they played okay. Harley, especially the
earlier game. He played well and he got a lot
of minutes. He played twenty one minutes, so that's saying
a lot, and he was good in the moment. So
I mean, I don't know much more. I gotta say
we can talk about the future a little bit, but man,
(18:28):
seeing that goal is a top moment, and not just
because of everything that's you know, a Canada versus US win.
Speaker 4 (18:35):
It was more than that.
Speaker 3 (18:36):
It was a country beating the country and it showed,
it really showed. You could see it in all the
guys faces. They were getting called the fifty first state.
There's a lot of media, a lot of media that
went into this and Micdavid just said, okay, I'll take that.
Speaker 4 (18:55):
I'm putting it to bed. And he sure did.
Speaker 3 (18:58):
He sure did. Look into the future Team Canada. You
know they're gonna be good. I think we know that
we have a bunch of prospects who were gonna get
better and better. Maclans Celebrini is gonna be good, Connor
Butdart's gonna be good.
Speaker 4 (19:17):
They probably won't be.
Speaker 3 (19:18):
There next year in Italy for the Olympics, the twenty
twenty six Olympics. We'll see how many teams are in that,
because that'll be fun. McDavid really talked about expanding it
even more and uh, you know, it was a great tournament.
The World Cup is coming after that. Then they're gonna
do it every two years, which is good. It can't
(19:39):
be every year because if these guys were doing this
every year, it would be too much of a strain
on them.
Speaker 4 (19:44):
But doing it.
Speaker 3 (19:45):
Every two years is great. It's great, man. You know
that was sick. It was a sick goal.
Speaker 4 (19:54):
That's that's really putting it lightly. I don't know what
to tell you.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
I mean, McDavid's apiece, that's all I got to say
to that. It's gonna be a fun few years. I
don't know if this might might have been said the
kid's last kind of big victory. So it was good
to see him win. But this Connor McDavid guy, then
Nathan McKinnon, cal mccarr. I made a belt with my
(20:21):
friend on who's gonna win? I said, Canada all the way.
These stars are going to carry them through. And when
McDavid gets the puck in the slot, I was already
getting up because I knew this thing was over.
Speaker 4 (20:30):
It was a fun reaction. We were jumping up and down.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
So it'll be a memory I remember for the rest
of my life and it'll be one of those where
it's where were you moment right when McDavid scored that
big goal. So all the media that went went through
it and you know, all the guys were happy.
Speaker 4 (20:49):
You know, there's nothing more to say.
Speaker 1 (20:53):
This.
Speaker 3 (20:53):
The handing out of the trophy was kind of awkward
because you could see some of those guys trying to
lift it. It's like, okay, well this isn't the Stanley Cup,
but you saw McDavid's. It was kind of just a
quick oh. You know, it was pretty funny to see
these guys lifted. I guess because you know, we're still
we're still winning for McDavid to get.
Speaker 4 (21:10):
His cup, and he will, he will.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
But yeah, it was a great tournament and the NHL
showed out to them. They did a great job with
this one.
Speaker 4 (21:21):
You know, it was great.
Speaker 3 (21:24):
It was some great hockey, and I'm excited to keep
watching Best on Best because that was the most entertaining hockey.
Speaker 4 (21:32):
I've ever watched.
Speaker 3 (21:32):
I've watched a lot of hockey, and it's gonna be
tough going back to watch the Oilers with the goaltender
that they have and sometimes the defense that they have.
But I mean, there's not much more to say. It's
gonna be fun. It's gonna be fun to watch these guys.
Let's kind of transition.
Speaker 4 (21:50):
Now. We only have a few topics because really.
Speaker 3 (21:53):
There wasn't much going on, Like, if you really look
at it in depth, there wasn't much uh in in
the Sports World. There was some some rumors obviously for
the NFL, which I mean, we have so much time
to talk about that, especially it's it's gonna be so boring,
(22:14):
like once this is once hockey and basketball. It's just
a boring time. I know there's baseball, but it just
gets boring. Marsh Madness is approaching fast as well, though,
so that's gonna be fun. But let's break down this
Vattie stuff because we're not gonna get too in deep
in depth on this, uh but you know, and then
(22:38):
we have to do our our actually.
Speaker 4 (22:40):
Let's let's do that. Let's do our fire ice and
wild Card of the week. Let's do it now. Our
fire the week.
Speaker 3 (22:49):
Obviously is Team Canada and Conor McDavid. That's that's just
an obvious one. I mean, you know, got over the up,
really doing the job and I mean, man o, men, wait,
just just a great week for them, that's a let's
(23:09):
put it that. Keeping hockey as candadas sport, that's that's
what we're.
Speaker 4 (23:14):
Gonna put it in the Ice of the Week.
Speaker 3 (23:16):
In my eyes is the Toronto Blue Jays organization and
the way they've dealt with Vladimir ro Junior. I could
have put the United States of America, but I didn't.
I didn't because I as much as they they're gonna
be good, they're gonna be good. And as much as
it's a big loss for them, they still did a
lot of great things and promoting hockey and it's just
(23:37):
gonna get.
Speaker 4 (23:37):
Better in America for hockey.
Speaker 3 (23:38):
So yeah, we give them a shout out there. And
then obviously the wild card.
Speaker 4 (23:46):
It's a tough one.
Speaker 3 (23:48):
There's a few options, but I'm just gonna say the
sport of hockey in general, I think this tournament opened
up a lot of eyes on this game, and not
having anything else going on helped as well.
Speaker 4 (24:00):
All the fights, all the drama, all the media as well.
Speaker 3 (24:04):
But I saw a lot of tiktoks of people who
are like, Okay, I'm gonna start watching hockey now because
it is an exciting.
Speaker 4 (24:09):
Sport and people really got to see it, which is great.
It's great stuff.
Speaker 3 (24:15):
I'm so happy to see it grow because obviously the
sport I grew up loving, and as much as I
love football, man, which is probably my favorite sport, hockey
is very good. And it topped it last night, topped it,
and let's hope that McDavid gets a deep playoff run,
because that'd.
Speaker 4 (24:33):
Be even better for the Lake, Right Gary, Right? Gary?
So yeah, that's that's my wild card of the week.
Speaker 3 (24:39):
Let's get into this Latimer Girl Junior stuff because man O,
man am I done with the Blue Jays front office.
The Toronto Blue Jays are so annoying. I'm actually gonna
lose my mind on them. They are so annoying. Like so,
Vladimir grow Junior, for those of you that don't know,
(25:00):
he set a deadline before the start of spring training
and the Bluechers have known this deadline for a year
to get a new deal done signed with Laddie and
they ended up not which like I wish they got
another bat as well. But Vladimir gir Junior this now
(25:20):
is saying that he will be a free agent next
year and he will have the Blue Jays will have
to compete with twenty nine teams if he's even him
still on the roster. But it's just difficult. I don't
know he wanted. He's been very open about what want.
Wanted to be a Blue Jet for a life, and
(25:42):
that's not even really talked about. Like a lot of
athletes don't say that they don't just outright say I
want to be here for life, and he was very
open about it. He said, I want to be here
for life, and apparently he wants probably want Soto money,
but the Blue Jays like, you're not a Wan Soto, right,
(26:03):
They they're willing to throw out money at Wan Soda,
but you're not Wan Soto. So I don't know, man,
it's just too bad.
Speaker 4 (26:12):
It's just it's just difficult to see Ata. I mean, he's.
Speaker 3 (26:20):
Probably gone, Boba Schet's already, they've already basically said that
he's gone. If those guys are gone, I mean, it's
probably start to rebuild, which I don't really want to
go through again watching this terrible baseball, I'm not really
trying to do that. So I don't know, man, Like, oh,
(26:43):
I'm tired.
Speaker 4 (26:44):
It's just disappointing to see.
Speaker 3 (26:45):
I'm tired of it, you know, Ross Atkins being an idiot.
Speaker 4 (26:51):
In the media like he is normally.
Speaker 3 (26:54):
The Blue Jay's management is just so bad and they
made so many bad decisions about this team, and they've
been so bad for the last two years, Like they
haven't won a playoff game since that twenty fifteen run
and I think Blue Jays fans are just sick of it, man,
Like it's just paining after pain every year. And I
guess this is the problem about cheering for Toronto sports
(27:15):
team is that they just don't win like ever.
Speaker 4 (27:18):
So I don't know.
Speaker 3 (27:21):
I mean, I'm just done with these guys, these these
two idiots who run the entire thing and Rogers owning
the team.
Speaker 4 (27:30):
As much as they spend a lot.
Speaker 3 (27:31):
Of money on the payroll, they they're the fifth most
high I think they're top three now highest payrolls in baseball.
And if your team isn't making the playoffs and you're
a top three payroll with not a lot of dead money,
you better be making the playoffs because ownership is spending money.
Speaker 4 (27:48):
But if you have idiots who run it, that's what's
gonna happen.
Speaker 3 (27:52):
And last year that's exactly what happened, and I expect
probably this year to go the same. I don't I
don't have any expectations for this team right now, because
you're gonna need Bobachette to figure it out if you
want to make the playoffs. So and you're probably gonna
need another bat and another arm, so you're a few
pieces away from being a very good team. Yes, but
(28:16):
that's assuming that everyone's gonna be as good because realistically,
everyone that the Blue Jays sign has kind of not
really proven. Like last year, Justin Turner didn't turn out.
You know, you had guys sign and it's like, okay,
well let's see if they can continue. And you just
signed Anthony Santander to a big contract. He's not a
(28:39):
young guy. He's in his thirties.
Speaker 4 (28:41):
Let's see.
Speaker 3 (28:43):
That's all I gotta say about this Blue Jay situation.
Glad He's probably gone. Bo's probably gone. And if this
year they don't do well, I mean I hope they're
gone because they deserve more than what this organization is providing.
And if they don't make the playoffs this year, if
that Ross guy isn't gone, I will not be a
fan of this baseball club because I'm just sick of
(29:06):
cheering for a team that doesn't make the playoffs and
spends all that money and is should be competitive but isn't.
So Yeah, I mean, there's not much more to say
in Toronto Blue Jays. They're still in need of some stuff,
and they traded some prospects, but like just the bad
management decisions, and they just weren't able to get a
(29:30):
deal done with Laddie when they asked Laddie, hey, vladd
like the media is asking hey, were they close? And
Laddie said no in English. He didn't even ask his interpreter.
He said no, straight up. No is the most obvious
no I've ever seen. If you haven't seen it, I'd
go watch the press conference because it could have been
more obvious. So they were not close in negotiations, So
(29:51):
I think he's gone. I mean, the fact that it
was this big of a no really showed to me
that this thing's over.
Speaker 4 (29:58):
So other than that, though, this week, there wasn't really
much going on to be honest.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
But.
Speaker 4 (30:09):
We'll probably be back next maybe Thursday. I might do
Thursdays now instead.
Speaker 3 (30:15):
We'll see, So I guess just just keep your eyes
out look for that.
Speaker 4 (30:19):
Next episode is next week.
Speaker 3 (30:22):
I mean, there's not really much going on in the
sports where the oilers are back, but we're just kind
of running out of things to talk about. March Madness
is coming up, but you know, once we get to
those dog of the summer it might be a I
don't know, twice a week type thing or not. Twice
a week, once every two weeks, and then maybe an
(30:42):
Elk's postgame. I don't know that's what we might end
up doing, but yeah, I really enjoyed this one today.
We'll be back sometime next week. Just keep your eyes up,
probably a Thursday, because I have a break from school
on Thursday, so probably next Thursday we'll be back. Out
of the Oilers are in action this this weekend. I'm
(31:02):
pretty sure it's.
Speaker 4 (31:03):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 3 (31:03):
They play on Saturday, which is a quick turnaround at
eleven am against the Philadelphia Flyers, so right back to work,
and then they have the back to back on Sunday
against the Capital, so McDavid is gonna be right back
in the action having to play the Caps the light
and on the Thursday they take on the Panthers in
the rematch. So should be a fun few games coming
(31:24):
up here for the Edmonton Oilers. We will be back
next week. Enjoy your week of sports. Maybe you have
a few days off like me next week, so enjoy that.
Enjoy your weekend. Go Canada, go peace out.
Speaker 4 (31:36):
