It certainly is time now to drive to may or

Speaker 2 (00:10):
No, it's all good. It's a good day out there.
It's going to be nice when this cloud lifts.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
I tell you, it's thickening up more than what it
did before.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Now, No, it'll lift soon and we'll get some nice sunshine.
I'm sure.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
Good on you, good on you. Okay, we've got no
listener questions submitted, so let's go to the council meeting,
which is happening on Tuesday, the twenty seventh bay Y episode.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
We have a council meeting next week on Tuesday the
twenty seventh, which starts at five pm at the Council Chambers.
The meeting's open to the public and if you wish
to attend, you need to register beforehand, So just give
the office a call and tell them that you're going
to attend so somebody can let you in. And just
a reminder that if you have any questions without notice,
they can be submitted to the general manager up to
midday Tuesday the twenty seventh, and that's via EA at

(00:49):
West Coast dot ts dot dot au or buy a
post box six three Queens Down seven four six.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
Many people come to the leading.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
We get a few sometimes, but it's I encourage everybody
that wants to come along or is interested in council
to come along, see the meeting, see the procedures, and
if you've got any questions, of course, come and ask
them and we can provide you with a direct answer.
If we can't provide you with a direct answer there
and then in a meeting, we'll take it on notice
and provide you with an answer very shortly afterwards.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
Okay, now we've heard in the years the dog microchipping.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Yep, so dog micro chipping. So Under the Dog Control
Act two thousand, it's requirement that all dogs over the
age of six months must be microchipped. Microchipping. Microchipping not
only identifies the pet as yours, but aids in their
return if they escape or get lost. Council has noticed
an increasing number of dogs that lack microchips, especially those
found wondering. Microchips can be implanted at that clinics as

(01:39):
well as certain RSPCA and dog's habit has many locations.
Council shortly begin enforcing the requirements of microchips from the
start of the new financial year, as annual registration also
falls due with the possibility of infringements being noticed. So issued.
So look look after your four leg good friend. Give
a microchip. If they get lost to get out, we

(02:00):
can return them back to their home.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Do we get many dogs that are wandering around the
West Coast.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
I've had a few reports lately that some dogs are
wandering around, So hopefully we can get out there make
sure those dogs are returned to their home and are
looked after and kept in the yards.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
Right, Okay. Mediation of residential building disputes. This is a
big one.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Yeah, so this is a new one. So it's an
update from the Tasmanian government ce BOSS so Consumer Building
and Occupational Services. And there's a number of changes that
were recently made to Residential building work Contracts and Dispute
Resolution Act of twenty sixteen that give more options for
parties seeking to resolve building disputes. So one of these
options is the informal mediation of disputes, and mediation is

(02:41):
designed to encourage nego negotiated agreement. Are reasonable steps to
resolve the issues must have already been attempted before applying
for mediation, so take some steps to resolve the issue first.
Mediation in building disputes can provide the following benefits. So
it's often cheaper and quicker than litigation. It allows for
customized solutions that might not be possible through the court rulings.

(03:03):
And it can maintain professional relationships by encouraging cooperative problem
solving rather than confront confrontational conflict. If you'd like more information,
so contacts sea Boss and the email is sea boss
dot info at Justice dot TAZ dot gov dot au
and their website is seboss dot taz dot dot gov
dot au. So if you're give any inquiries or you

(03:24):
want to find out further about that, have a look
on the sea Boss website and that leads you in
the right direction.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Okay, we're going to have a break now, then the
robe it so we're back with me or on air.

(03:50):
It's eight forty Liberty mayor Rob above Hield. We're going
back to the Headley Hall of Headley. Fool's part project
update which is in front of us at seven excess.
How's it going there, Robert.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
No, it's going well. We've had some delays, but contractors
are now back on site the Hadley Falls Park in
Queenstown and the continue its redevelopment and we can see
out through the window an excavator they're working with its
orange light flash and so some work is definitely happening.
Work on the redevelopment was paused to ensure equipment footings
were not too close to TAS Network cable locations that
runs through the playground, so there's a slight change of

(04:24):
our planning design was made to ensure that the future
root growth wouldn't impede these cables.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
So what have we got. We've got major cables in
that park, so.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
There's a major electricity cable that runs through the park.
So what we had to do we had to make
sure that our development and our planning and our foundations
weren't going to interfere with that cable. And that took
a bit over three weeks for all that work to
be done. So that's put the park behind. But we're
working there now and the contractors are working and our
parks still scheduled to be open around the mid towards

(04:54):
mid to in June. So so the stage is still
on and our redevelopment park offers residents and visitors a modern,
fund safe and enjoyable playground and park area to you,
so I'm really looking forward to that. Updated spaces include
an undercover area, an in ground trampoline and ball courts,
and nature placed play areas, swings and fence yards for

(05:15):
the younger children. So you know, we've got the fench
yards for the younger kids, so that makes it safer
for those and I know young kids can be there
one minute and five seconds later they are one hundred
meters away from you, so that'll help keep the young
kids safe. And just a reminder also that the public
toilets are also open and remain open during the works.
And like I said, we should be finished around mid June.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
Can we talk about the z in Park that's happening.
It's nearly finished, So the.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
Z Park again, that's one of our projects that we've
had and the Z and Parks again scheduled for completion
around the same time. And I was over in Zen
last week and had a look and it looks really
exciting and almost wish I was a kid so I
could go and playing the park or we've.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
Talken off there. When we were young, we had those
slides that made of steel. They wouldn't happened now.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
I remember having a having burnt backside and burnt legs,
especially down at the Strawng Beach. As a kid we
had a big steel slide down there, but no playground
equipment has definitely come a long way and it's adventurous,
it's interactive and it encourages growth and learning for young people.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
Right right, Okay, let's go to the mcquarie Hits road
maintenance yep.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
So for the last two weeks Council contractors have been
grading the gravel sections of Mcquarieheads Road from the fish
Farm intersection to the beach entrance. This maintenance is part
of Council's unsealed roads maintenance service that we do and
that work has now been completed with the road much
smoother and a lot better to drive on. Actually went
down there last weekend to have a look and most
of the roadwork was done and it's a lot better

(06:40):
road to drive on. So credit to the contractors that
have done that work and it's a big improvement for
people using that area. Right.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
National Volunteer week.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
Yep. So we've had National Volunteer Week and today's Friday,
which is the last day National Volunteer Week, and this
year's theme was connecting Communities. Volunteering creates lasting relationships and
friendships for volunteers, and it also gives them fosters and
grows communities. You know, Volunteer groups grow foster communities and
help look after communities. And as a volunteer myself in

(07:15):
lots of areas, it's really good. You build lots of
friendships and a lot of times those volunteer groups became
become your second family. So I'd really encourage people who
they're interested in becoming a volunteer to get out and
look at those volunteer groups. We have volunteer emergency services
all across the West Coast, but also the volunteer groups
that are not so highly visible and are not so

(07:35):
highly seen are really important too. You know, there's the
Red Crosses of the home care people and just just
looking after your neighbor as a volunteer, you know, just
call into your neighbor and say you do an okay,
do you need anything?

Speaker 1 (07:46):
So it's really important and sometimes it helps your mental health.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
It does, and it's good to have a chat, you know,
just doing okay? Are you doing all right? And ask
the question are you okay? Right? Okay? Anything else that
when you know that no, that's all for this week.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
So quick and simple, quick and simple, quick and simple.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
Have a good weekend. I'll talk to you next week.

Speaker 1 (08:06):

(08:27):
a look for Mere on Air, of course Mere on Air.
