Speaker 1 (00:01):
Keeping you in touch with your community. We're talking with
the mayor of the West Coast Shame Pitt on West
Coast seven excess. Yes, good morning to you. You are
on seven excess. We're back with mayor on it Shame Pitt.
Good morning again.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Yeah, good morning Andrew.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
Okay, well let's go do a fly to health.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Yeah, so they're coming in June, and we did try
earlier and that's right this last month, but last yeah,
last month didn't quite happen. But we were just asking
residents out there if they've got their referrals and appointed
appointment sort of, because they won't come unless they've got.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
A it's no cool coming for one when you can
have ten.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Exactly right, mate. Yeah, so they do fly in, so
it is an expense. They need to make sure that
they've got.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
How the things going there shamee.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
Yeah. Well it's been slow but started to pick up now.
So yeah, we're hoping that they do get the amount
of people they require.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Coming into the cold of month. We get elements, we
get the flu, get all sorts of things.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Yeah, so it is an opportunity that you know, it's
some of them professional health professionals that we don't see
down here regular so podiatrists and physiotherapis and things like that.
You know, it is that unless people register, they're not
sure who they need to bring as well. So that's
one of the reasons why we need to register and

(01:26):
you know, grab a referral and an appointment sorted through
them and that can be done by their website at
www dot fly to health dot com dot au. So
and that too is the number two.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
So fair enough, Yeah, okay. Community feedback on the West
Coast women's perspectives on gyms.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Yeah, so we like to thank all those ladies out
there that did provide feedback regarding that women's only gym
space at our gyms on the West Coast. We received
a great response to the survey which it was developed
from feedback that we did get from ladies with regards

(02:11):
to the gyms on the West Coast. So it's not
something which we went out there and done as accouncil.
We had the feed people ladies that we wanted to
that they wanted to see this.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
So it's intimidating for those females that want to go
and get out and do what they've got to do.
But then if people are watching them. It's nice to
have their own space.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
It is, it is, mate, Yeah, and I guess that's one.
I think this work does align with the West Coast
Health and well Being strategy. So we we need to
make sure that we are listening to all our community.
And I guess it's there's a couple of options there
we've got, so we'll wait to see what see what

(02:52):
comes of that in the in the new future.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
Right, sounds pretty good. Okay, let's have a look at
the horse Tower Falls car park changes.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Yeah, so this is it's not a council car park
of course, but it is owned by Parks Tasmanian Parks
and Wildlife Service. They have put out a notice there
that to advise that the resurfacing of the car park
will be conducted from this Friday today. So yeah, so

(03:21):
works will take approximately one to two days to complete
and so they may need just reschedule it given the weather.
The weather today is not real brilliant, but you know,
they might be able to get some work done up there.
But so access to Horstile Falls will remain open during
these hours which the earth moving contractors and traffic controllers

(03:46):
will manage to site access there for anyone that wishes
to utilize that space. So yeah, that's good to see
that the parks and Wildlife are doing a little bit
of work up there on because it is a popular
place falls and we do get a lot of tourists
and even residents traveling walking up the walkway across to

(04:07):
the falls. And you know, I guess this time of
the year, now we've got a fair bit of water
in the on the falls, it'll be spectacular.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
We're going to creek behind me and I tear the
water was just washing down.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
Yes, they probably they. I think that creek might even
come from Horstile Fall, That's what I think. Yes, So
you know, there's this time of the year when we
do get a bit of water across the falls. It
is spectacular and it's certainly a great especially.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
When you go into socials and you see all the photos.
You think, gosh, I should have been there.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
Yes, mate, Yes, And you know it's something which you know,
a bit skeptical about when they put the walkway in
there where it was going to attract the tourists in
that but yeah, I know it's that the car park.
Every time I drive pasted up there, it's full of
tourists and locals as well. Quite often ventrupt that way
ourselves to yeah, yeah, watch the sunset. But this time

(05:02):
the year, of course, there's no sun, but we'll certainly
have plenty of water coming across the.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
Falls, which is great. Any other council issues that we
need to talk about.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
Oh no, I don't think so, mate. You know we
mentioned last week about the Healy Falls Park here across
the road. You know, we're still waiting on an issue
with TAS Networks with regard to the power supply there,
but you know, we'll work through that with them. It's
regarding the substation that's been there for well since the

(05:33):
park was originally installed. So but you know, we'll walk through.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
That and come up with a solution and patients.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
It is it is, and I guess, you know, it
is disappointing that, you know, it's been a long period
of time nearly eight months now, I think, since since
this project was started.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
But I suppose once it's done it'll be magic, it.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
Will be mate. Yeah, And it's just I guess from
our point of a little bit disappoint that, you know,
the planning approvals and everything went through for that way
back before we started, and that was the opportunity for
these organizations to come forward and if they had any issues.
But yeah, but anyway, we'll work through that and uh,
you know we've got we need to make sure that

(06:16):
it's right.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
That's it. Yeah, okay, Shane, Well, thank you for mere
on air for today. We'll do it all again next Friday.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
Thanks Andrew.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
Okay, that's Shane with meryor Air. You're on seven excess
