talk about that.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
Yeah, So the works have started on that project, Andrew,
and it's great to see. So we've had some temporary
fencing erected around the area where they'll be working. The
original plan was to start on the visitor Information Center.
We're looking at whether we proceed with that at this
(01:48):
stage or whether we continue on with some other works
around that waterfront precinc to that area. We're talking to
the contractors at the moment with regard to that.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
Right, I believe that they're visiting information center has been moved.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
Yes, so we've moved the visitor Information Center because we
were going to start work on the on the center.
There is some work that can be done on the
building which needed to be done. With regards to the
exhibition Reflective Reflections exhibition inside the center, we're we're working
(02:22):
through that at the moment with regard to packing it up,
and we're also doing some digital scanning of that display
as well, so that'll probably stay there for a little
while while we undertake that work. So, yeah, and.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
I believe the world famous cruisers and the ship that
Never will continue to operate as normal.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Yes, mate, yeah, so that won't won't be affected. There
will be some fencing up put up so that the
exclusion zone around the construction area doesn't affect the ship
that Never was, so that, yeah, we want to make
sure that that that play can continue on, especially during
this time of the year when a lot of tourists
(03:03):
in the area, So we're making sure that that's not affected.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
Hell, when you think this project will take to well.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
We hope to have it finished by August September this
year because that's when our our grant dude with the
state and federal government is up for well, I guess
is up.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
So we need to spend the money beforehand.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
We have to make sure we've got that spent before
that time frame, otherwise we don't want to lose it.
That's something each you know, the strong community over the
years have wanted for that precinct to be developed. And
you know it's not only strong community, but we see
that area in Strawn as a years down the track,
what potential that area has got can.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
Draw all the tourists, all the holiday makers to.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Us exactly right. That's what we want to see and
we see that as a draw card. You know, we've
seen it with the boats on the Gordon River, but
we can see that it can be expanded. Especially the
Port of Rawner certainly does offer itself for you know
around the world yachting ventures that could know what's exactly right.
(04:10):
We've had yachtsman coming down from New South Wales and
Sydney that have said that you know, this makes this
would make an ideal marina here for people to stop into. Say,
you know, this is a start. Who knows what's in
the future and that's what we've got to start looking
at for the West Coasts. It's not short term things.
(04:30):
It's long term for the future of our community and
future of our children as well. So you know we're
starting that process. This is stage one and two and
who knows what's ahead in the future.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
So who knows? That's right? Okay, they're going to talk
about money at the installment of third rates are in
by today a closer business.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
Yeah, so yeah, as payments can be made online through
our website at Australia post b pay at our Australia Sorry,
our agencies in Zion, straw And and Roseberry or in
person by going into the council office. But you know,
if people have got any queries or having difficulties making payments,
(05:13):
please contact the council office.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Well that's the first point of call at all and
they can make arrangements by installment.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
Exactly right. I guess that's one thing. We don't want
to see people leaving them And when they are in trouble,
we'll make contact with the Council and Office and they'll
make sure that they work with the person and come
up to an ideal solution for that rate player.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
