Speaker 10 (45:51):
Here to the meet and Miss Jones show with me, Doctor,
Miss Jones.

Speaker 59 (45:59):
I've had three beautiful children that I'm in love with.
I have a son who is fourteen years old. Now
I cannot believe it, thank you. And I have two
little girls that are eleven and nine. And my baby
child is in fourth grade. Now I cannot believe it.
When she went to kindergarten a few years back, that

(46:22):
was gonna be the first time that I was gonna
be by myself all day long, from eight to three. Oh,
by myself. I nearly greed myself to death. I thought, Lord,
what am I gonna do with all this time on
my hands? I hope I don't get hooked on whiskey

(46:44):
and start honky talking about three weeks into kindergarten, I
was lying.

Speaker 60 (47:00):
Birthday.

Speaker 59 (47:01):
H Now, I ain't gonna get a Papst Marrey without
somebody's sitting on my head.

Speaker 28 (47:13):
I'll never for that.

Speaker 59 (47:14):
You forget the day that I found out about her,
and I feel terrible about it now, but I was overwhelmed.
I knew something right. I didn't feel good. I thought,
oh my gosh, surely I'm not pregnant this quick, this sound.
And you know, when you gotta know something, you gotta
know right thing. I had no right there. I grabbed
up my two babies and diaper bag and all that

(47:35):
stuff you take with you everywhere you go, and I
went to the Walmart in the foothels of the Appalachia
Mountain and I bought an EPT pregnancy test and I
took it in the stall at Walmart and I tinkled
on it, and my three year.

Speaker 28 (47:54):
Old boy looked at me. He said, what is it positive?

Speaker 23 (48:06):
And it was.

Speaker 59 (48:09):
So I drove home just as fast as I could,
and I called my husband at work, and I said,
you're trying to kill me, aren't you?

Speaker 28 (48:20):
With a slow vaginal death?

Speaker 59 (48:22):
Is that what you're trying to where you're not going
to You better get home right now because I'm gonna
walk out in the woods and let the animals eat me.

Speaker 28 (48:40):
But let me explain y'all why I was so torn up.

Speaker 59 (48:42):
I had a thirteen month old baby girl in divers
and a three year old little boy in Superman pennies
with Doo doo balls falling out at the grocery store.

(49:10):
I thought, oh my lord, did anybody see that? I
don't have anything of my purse to pick it up with.
It's some little child gonna think it's a milk dud.
Let's just keep on moving, everybody, just keep on moving.

(49:37):
But God knew better than I did, because she's been
a doll baby. But she's ruined. And I know I'm
the one who did it.

Speaker 28 (49:43):
I was tired and beat down.

Speaker 59 (49:47):
So anybody here who has more than two, you know,
good night. By that third and fourth when you got
to let them do what they gotta do. You know,
she's still over anything.

Speaker 28 (50:01):
She cries. She knows she gets her way out. I said,
what's she crying about? She wants your toy.

Speaker 59 (50:06):
We'll just give it to her. I can't deal with it.
But she's a quirky little thing and fun she is.
She enjoy's office work. And for Santa Claus this past Christmas,

(50:30):
she wanted a filing cabinet, and uh, that's what she wanted.
And she likes, you know, big tape dispensers and all
that kind of stuff. And in our house she has
offices set up all over our house. And she's always
talked to herself, and she we like to sneak and
watch her cause she'll be doing office work and she

(50:51):
has her little Barbie phone and cell phones and old
cordless phones, and she'll be calling people up and chewing
them out over the phone. She says, well, if you
can't get this order in, I'm taking my business elsewhere.
She says she wants to work for God Coo when
she gets older. For her eighth birthday, you know how

(51:12):
mamas will call.

Speaker 28 (51:13):
You and say, was she into? What can I get her?
And I said, well, she needs office supplies.

Speaker 59 (51:24):
My oldest daughter has turned eleven and she's in sixth
grade in middle school, and I can tell that puberty
is beginning with her.

Speaker 28 (51:34):
She's crazy and she's mean as a snake, and we're
scared death of her, but we just tiptoe around her.
She cries a lot.

Speaker 59 (51:55):
She doesn't know why, and she tells, I'm know why
I'm crying, and we just try to get through it.
But I'm telling you, she can run a household. She's
a grown woman. She has been ever since she got here.
So I said, you're gonna have to come in here, baby,
I said, your daddy's gonna take care of y'all. I'm
going to Nashville for like three days. She bust out crying.

(52:15):
I said, what's wrong? She said, don't leave us with him.
He doesn't know where the food is. I said, well,
that's why you're in charge. And she is God lover.
But my girls are emotional. And I don't mean to
talk about them because I love them and I know

(52:36):
they'll visit me in the nursing home. But they are lunatics.
My husband says, they're psycho and they need therapy. And
I'll give you all an example. I can be in
the pickup line at school, and this has happened when
they were in first grade, and it happens every day
when I pick them up at school. Now I'm sitting
in the pickup line and I can see them come out,

(52:58):
and they're in a good mood, and they're ghosting each
other and giggling and doing and talking and having a
good time. They're waving to the teachers and the principal
Bie say tomorrow okay. Then they come over to my vehicle,

(53:24):
get in, shut the door. My eleven year old take
her backpack, sling it and hit me in the back
of the head with it. Every day she says something
like this, I'm.

Speaker 28 (53:36):
Starving to death.

Speaker 60 (53:41):
You don't have a piece of cheese in this car
you're driving is making me cars sick.

Speaker 28 (53:57):
I hate her, you have her.

Speaker 59 (54:01):
And then my baby will be sitting up there in
a daze. She'll be going, Mama, mama, mama, mama, mama, mama, mama.
What mama, mama, mama, what I'm listening. She asked me

(54:24):
some of the craziest things. One day, she said to me,
did Jesus ever have head lies? How do he answer
something like that? I said, well, baby, if he did,
I know he healed it.

Speaker 3 (54:43):
And then.

Speaker 59 (54:48):
And then my girls be whipping each other in the
bank seat and telling each other how bad they hate
each other, and they wished each other were dead.

Speaker 28 (54:55):
And then my sweet boy, my sweet boy, come out.

Speaker 59 (55:02):
He'll get in and he'll say, you know, they're building
you home depot up on two eady one, just as happy,
go lucky.

Speaker 18 (55:20):
He's just like this.

Speaker 59 (55:22):
He's been like that all of his life. He's fourteen.
He's never says to me, I know, people say it's coming.
I'm telling you, I don't think it will. And I'm
in love with him. I have been My husband says,
I have an unhealthy obsession with them.

Speaker 28 (55:37):
Whatever, and.

Speaker 59 (55:42):
He's the only one of all my family doesn't give
me any crap. So yes, I am in love with
him and that doll. We want the best for him,
and we want the best for these children. We want
them to be involved in sports, you know, keep them
off of dope.

Speaker 51 (55:59):
Hold up, you y'all, to get up on your feet
and make some noise for Grandma's cookie.

Amen, all right, please take your seats.

Speaker 1 (01:04:12):
Amen.

Speaker 33 (01:04:14):
I'm so excited for this opportunity to be with you
this morning on Mother's Day. I'm honored to have that
pastor trust me to share the pulpit. And I just
wanted to just encourage the mothers today.

Speaker 14 (01:04:30):
Amen.

Speaker 26 (01:04:31):
Some kind of way it went from encouraging the mothers
to preaching.

Speaker 33 (01:04:38):
But I just want to encourage the mothers because we're special. Yeah,
you're special. So will you pray with me just for
a moment. Lord, I certainly love you today, and thank

(01:05:02):
you for your goodness and your kindness to us and
your mercies that are new every single morning. Lord, at
this time that you have afforded us to get into
your word. God, may this word bring encouragement.

Speaker 1 (01:05:18):
Lord, May this.

Speaker 33 (01:05:19):
Word cause transformation, cause us to look more like you.
Love you, and bless your name Father in Jesus, in
Jesus' name amen, Amen, Well, on this beautiful Mother's Day.
I thought it would be fitting as I would really

(01:05:41):
want to encourage you. I don't know about you, but
any mothers in the house like me who need some encouragement, right.

Speaker 26 (01:05:50):
It's not always easy being a mother.

Speaker 33 (01:05:52):
But I thought it would be really great if I
found an illustration in the Word of God of some
women who were wonderful mothers. And I thought we would
go to Second Timothy. Tewod Timothy the first chapter, and
if we look at verses one through five, we see

(01:06:14):
here that Paul is writing a letter to Timothy. And
Paul is really a big wig in the early Church.

Speaker 6 (01:06:22):
I mean, he.

Speaker 33 (01:06:22):
Wrote most of the Old Testament. He was a really
prestigious god. And here Paul is the apostle and he's
writing a letter to Timothy.

Speaker 26 (01:06:33):
Timothy's like a pastor. But you know, it's really.

Speaker 33 (01:06:36):
Cool and neat if you're reading and following me in
the text that when Paul addresses Timothy, he calls him
his beloved son. He addresses him with such fondness and
appreciation and love. Now, what was it about Timothy that
caused Paul to honor him, to love him in the

(01:06:59):
world way?

Speaker 1 (01:07:00):
In what she did.

Speaker 33 (01:07:01):
Well, if you're gonna follow along with me, why don't
we just take a few minutes and read in two Timothy,
the first chapter. Here's where Paul writes. Here's how he
starts out. Paul and a apostle of Jesus Christ, by
the will of God, according to the promise of life
which is in Christ Jesus to Timothy, a beloved son, grace,

(01:07:25):
mercy and peace from God the Father and Christ, Jesus
our Lord. I thank God, whom I serve with a
pure conscious, as my forefathers did, as without ceasing, I
remember you in my prayers night and day, greatly desiring
to see you, being mindful of your tears, that I

(01:07:50):
may be filled with joy when I call to remembrance
the genuine faith that is in you, which first dwelt
in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I.

Speaker 26 (01:08:04):
Am persuaded is in you also.

Speaker 33 (01:08:08):
I thought this would be a great illustration to use,
as I will seek to encourage all the mothers in
the house that in the text, Paul doesn't just say
I want to salute you Timothy for your faith. He
could have just said that, but he extends it to

(01:08:29):
Timothy's grandmother, Lois and her mother. In other words, Paul
recognized that Timothy had the faith that he had because
of his grandmother.

Speaker 11 (01:08:41):
And his mother.

Speaker 33 (01:08:43):
How many no mothers can be a powerful source, right right?
Paul realized that, And I think Paul is onto something.
And I think if mothers, if we as a society
recognize the power that a mother had as to enable
her child to see Jesus, to come to know God,

(01:09:06):
to come to acknowledge the Father.

Speaker 26 (01:09:09):
Just as Lois and Eunice did.

Speaker 33 (01:09:13):
They helped Timothy to acknowledge Jesus. And not only does
he acknowledge Jesus, but he grows up and he has
this amazing faith that blew Paul away. And Paul commends
the grandmother and the mother. Now, I don't know about you,
but I think it would be the coolest thing to

(01:09:35):
have Jesus talking about my kids, like, you know, Jesus
up in heaven talking to the angels and he looks
down and he sees Jimmy and he says, ooh, that's
Jimmy Jenkins. That boy got faith like his mama. That
boy got faith like Trina. That boy got faith like
one Nita. That boy prays like Lucy. I think that

(01:09:58):
would be the cool thing. And as a matter of fact,
that's what I live for. I understand that God uses me, mothers,
God uses you.

Speaker 26 (01:10:12):
And guess what, anyone that has a connection with Jesus
Christ that.

Speaker 33 (01:10:16):
Is a born again believer, God wants to use you
so that other people will see him. That's what I've
lived for in my children, That's how I've lived my life.
That's been my priority, that I can help them see Jesus.

(01:10:37):
And you know, I think what Paul was saying is
the same thing that Jesus said to the disciples in
Matthew five.

Speaker 26 (01:10:47):
It's a very familiar text.

Speaker 33 (01:10:49):
As a matter of fact, Pastor has been preaching to
us the theme of this year, the vision for the
house is that there would be.

Speaker 26 (01:11:00):
That there would be light, and as women, we are
God's light to our families.

Speaker 33 (01:11:08):
A lot of times we spend our time and our
energy making sure our children go to the best schools,
are involved in the best activities. We want them to
take all the foreign languages, we want them to.

Speaker 26 (01:11:22):
Have great careers. But if our children never.

Speaker 33 (01:11:27):
Come into the loving Savior, the loving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Speaker 18 (01:11:33):
All that mounts up to nothing.

Speaker 33 (01:11:37):
And so here in the text, as pastors have been
teaching us, as Jesus is instructing his disciples, in verse
fourteen through sixteen, Jesus has a conversation with them.

Speaker 26 (01:11:50):
About being the light. Now, let me give you some
context to the text so that.

Speaker 33 (01:11:56):
We can understand what Jesus is saying to the disciples.
So in Matthew, during this time, Jesus is a pretty
popular guy.

Speaker 26 (01:12:06):
He is going around everywhere. He's healing people.

Speaker 33 (01:12:11):
All these diseases, he's healing them, he's casting out demons,
he's getting people's minds right. Jesus is really really popular,
and so everywhere he goes he has thousands of people
coming after him, hundreds of people coming after Jesus.

Speaker 26 (01:12:31):
Do something for me.

Speaker 33 (01:12:33):
But here in the text, Jesus gets tired of the
great mass, the great throng, the great multitude, and he
retreats up into the mountains, and the Bible says that
it's only his disciples, only his followers, that follow after him.

Speaker 26 (01:12:52):
And while he's in the mountain, he starts talking them
to them just about life. He talks about.

Speaker 33 (01:12:59):
Certain character qualities, certain things that you should do, so
that you can be blest.

Speaker 26 (01:13:05):
He talks about how a peacemaker's blest. How if you're meek,
you're blessed. How if you have a pure.

Speaker 33 (01:13:11):
Heart, how if you hunger and third after first, after righteousness,
you're blessed. And then he says, you're blessed when you're persecuted. Oh,
by the way, you're gonna be persecuted, but it's all
right if you're persecuted for righteousness sake. And I can imagine,
can you imagine the disciples, Wait a minute, peacemaker, if

(01:13:35):
I meek, pure and hard, did you say persecution?

Speaker 1 (01:13:40):
Did he just say persecution?

Speaker 33 (01:13:42):
And I can imagine the bewilderment that came on their
faces as they confronted the fact that they would be persecuted.

Speaker 47 (01:13:52):
And I can imagine Jesus spoke.

Speaker 33 (01:13:54):
Jesus spoke to that. And Jesus looks at the disciples,
and Jesus says to them, now, look, don't get afraid
of persecution.

Speaker 1 (01:14:04):
You are the light of the world.

Speaker 3 (01:14:08):
You are my light.

Speaker 23 (01:14:10):
You are my light source.

Speaker 26 (01:14:13):
And how many know, moms, you are God's light.

Speaker 33 (01:14:18):
Source for your family, for your family. Now listen, now, listen.
Jesus is talking to the disciples, right, So these are
people that had relationship with him.

Speaker 26 (01:14:33):
So, moms, you have to have a relationship.

Speaker 1 (01:14:36):
With God in order to be his light. You follow me, But.

Speaker 26 (01:14:41):
He's calling us, the followers of him, to be his light. Now, look,
let's look at light for a minute.

Speaker 33 (01:14:54):
You are the light of the world. What does light do?
Light makes things visible, or it illuminates. It helps you
to see things that you wouldn't ordinarily be able to

(01:15:15):
see if there were no light. If there were no
light in this room, it would be dark and you
would not be able to see anything. So when Jesus
is saying to us, when Jesus is saying to his disciples.

Speaker 26 (01:15:30):
When Jesus is saying to the mom, what Jesus is
saying to.

Speaker 33 (01:15:33):
The father, what Jesus is saying to the grandfather and
the grandmother is.

Speaker 26 (01:15:40):
Your purpose is to be a light.

Speaker 33 (01:15:43):
Live your life in such a way that when people
see you and what you do, they will give glory.
In other words, they will acknowledge me.

Speaker 17 (01:15:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 26 (01:15:57):
The thing about light is it throws to an object.
You know what I mean. It's like the light makes
you see an object. Our job as Jesus's lights.

Speaker 33 (01:16:08):
Mom, is the way we live should throw to him. Now,
let's talk about light for a few minutes. I don't
want to talk about a couple of kinds of light
this morning. I want to talk about a decorative light.
You know, anybody have decorative lights. There are lights that
people put up. They don't serve any purpose. They just

(01:16:30):
look good. They just look really cool. And if you
look in this sanctuary, we put up some decorative lights.
An example of a decorative light. And you see those
lights that sort of right over there. They don't really
illuminate a lot, do They Just a little glow, just

(01:16:55):
adds a little beauty.

Speaker 3 (01:16:56):
To the wall.

Speaker 33 (01:16:57):
But they really don't serve any function but to look good.
I think there may be some people in this room.
Don't turn around and don't look at the person next
to you, just keep looking here, who are more of
a decorative light.

Speaker 26 (01:17:15):
They look good on the outside. They say all the
right things when you speak to them.

Speaker 1 (01:17:20):
You know, they try to do all.

Speaker 26 (01:17:22):
The right things when you see them coming. But when
you get down to the real nitty gritty of their.

Speaker 33 (01:17:30):
Life, their life is just as raggedy as can be.
Take a bite into them. They just as raggedy.

Speaker 26 (01:17:39):
They're bitter, they're rebellious.

Speaker 33 (01:17:43):
They have no love for people, no compassion for people.

Speaker 26 (01:17:47):
That is a decorative light.

Speaker 33 (01:17:49):
You just look good, but you ain't illuminating nothing around you.
You just illuminate in your little space, around your little
around the people that you like.

Speaker 2 (01:18:02):
But when it comes to being a light of the world,
you have no.

Speaker 33 (01:18:08):
Impact because your light is dim. But Jesus isn't talking
about here a decorative light. He's talking about more of
a light that's a task light. A task light is
a light that serves a purpose. It helps you to

(01:18:28):
see so that you can do a particular activity. If
you look in here, we have theatrical lights. You see there,
You see those lights there. You see how bright those
lights are.

Speaker 26 (01:18:42):
Those lights help you to see what's going on on
the stage. Theatrical lights, they're all up here. They serve
a purpose.

Speaker 33 (01:18:52):
They help you to see. And that's what Jesus is saying.
You know, in my house, even I have I have
task lighting. I have lights in my kitchen.

Speaker 26 (01:19:04):
I just redid my kitchen, praise the Lord Holley.

Speaker 33 (01:19:13):
And you know in my kitchen I have lights over
the sink to illuminate so that I can watch dishes.

Speaker 26 (01:19:20):
Even though I don't do that much anymore. I also
have task.

Speaker 33 (01:19:25):
Lighting over my island, and that's where I do all
my food preparation, that's where I do all my baking,
which I don't do that quite so much anymore.

Speaker 26 (01:19:37):
But it's a light for a specific purpose. And moms,
you have a light.

Speaker 33 (01:19:46):
Not just for your community, not just for the people
in church, not just for the people on your job,
not just for your extended friends or your extended family,
your extended rep relatives. You have a responsibility to shine
your light for your family and especially your children. So

(01:20:13):
that's the purpose of the light, to shine it for
your children. What better, please than to shine your light
for your children. Now examine your light. If your light
is more decorative, Your children don't ever see you read

(01:20:33):
your Bible except for you when you come to church.
You know your children hear you talk about everybody with
just a horror. You talk about people so negatively, and
you do it in front of them. But then when
you come to church, it's praise.

Speaker 26 (01:20:49):
The Lord, hallelujah.

Speaker 33 (01:20:54):
You're teaching your children that that's how their light should shine.

Speaker 26 (01:20:59):
And as a region old, those children don't.

Speaker 33 (01:21:02):
Tend to follow Jesus and we're raising a generation of
children that have no respect for God, no respect for
godly principles. There's power in a mother's light, but you

(01:21:24):
have to understand your purpose. The purpose of your light.
It's for people to see what they couldn't see without
your presence. Now, not only does the text in the text,

(01:21:50):
Jesus try to encourage them. Listen, you're going to be persecuted,
but you are my light. He says, don't hide your light.
You know, he's preaching to the disciples. He's using I
love the way Jesus preaches. He uses so many analogies,
and I can imagine he might do something a little
bit like me use his hands a lot.

Speaker 26 (01:22:11):
But in this text, Jesus is preaching. He's talking to
his disciples, he's teaching them, and he says, you see
the city over there on the hill. You can't hide that.

Speaker 47 (01:22:23):
Do you take a lamp, y'all?

Speaker 26 (01:22:26):
And do you put a bushel over it? No, you
can't hide that. Don't be afraid. Don't hide your light.

Speaker 1 (01:22:37):
Listen, mothers, fathers, people.

Speaker 33 (01:22:42):
We're living in a day and age when what we
believe is being challenged like never before.

Speaker 26 (01:22:51):
What we believe is being challenged.

Speaker 33 (01:22:54):
But our purpose as lights is not to be afraid
of persecure. Our challenge as mothers is not to be afraid.
When we teach our children right.

Speaker 1 (01:23:07):
And wrong, not to be afraid of persecution.

Speaker 33 (01:23:12):
Because when your light is shining, it's so people can
see Jesus, and so our children.

Speaker 26 (01:23:21):
Will be able to see Jesus.

Speaker 65 (01:23:24):
Let your children know that a man is a man
and a woman is a woman, and God knows what
he's doing. Let your children know that you don't have
a right to decide what you want to be.

Speaker 33 (01:23:39):
Teach you children that there is an almighty God who
we have to be accountable to. That's the power in
a mother's light. So your light is powerful because of purpose.
But then your light is powerful because of performance. How
you live your life.

Speaker 26 (01:23:59):
I'm calling that for performance. If you go and just
read a little further.

Speaker 33 (01:24:05):
In verse fifteen, Jesus talks about the way the light
should perform. He says, listen, He says.

Speaker 11 (01:24:14):
This is what we do with a light.

Speaker 47 (01:24:16):
We take the light in a house.

Speaker 3 (01:24:19):
We take a light.

Speaker 26 (01:24:21):
We don't hide it. We put it on the lamp stand,
and we put it in a place so everyone.

Speaker 33 (01:24:28):
In that house can see. Now, how does that happen? Well,
if you look in verse sixteen, it's really simple.

Speaker 26 (01:24:38):
It's not a great revelation.

Speaker 33 (01:24:42):
Jesus breaks it down. He says, let your light shine
and away, that men see your good works, that your
children see your good works, that your employees see your
good works, that your neighbors see your good works, and then.

Speaker 1 (01:25:00):
Throw to me, and then.

Speaker 33 (01:25:03):
They'll glorify your father, which is in heaven.

Speaker 26 (01:25:10):
There's how our lights work.

Speaker 33 (01:25:13):
We should be so busy living a life full of
good works that people see us and they say, ooh.

Speaker 26 (01:25:21):
There must be a god somewhere.

Speaker 1 (01:25:26):
Now, now look.

Speaker 26 (01:25:29):
The contexts.

Speaker 33 (01:25:30):
The context of that word good works is not talking about,
you know, going to the nursing home. It's not talking
about feeding the hungry, even though those are great things
to do. It's not talking going to the prisons. How
those are great things to do. But the context of

(01:25:54):
good works here is moral excellence. It has to do
with your morals. Yeah, look at who's sitting next to you.

Speaker 11 (01:26:04):
Go on your morals.

Speaker 33 (01:26:07):
It's your ability to discern good and evil, your ability
to discern what's right and what's wrong.

Speaker 26 (01:26:15):
It's the way you conduct your life.

Speaker 18 (01:26:27):
Are you doing good works?

Speaker 26 (01:26:30):
How are you conducting your life? Mothers, fathers, everybody, everybody.

Speaker 33 (01:26:38):
We say we're Christians, but our lives are not illuminating
to the world that we're Christians.

Speaker 26 (01:26:46):
We dress the same way as the world dressed.

Speaker 33 (01:26:50):
Everybody gotta have one tight spandets everybody. Grandmama's got it,
great aunts, got it going.

Speaker 18 (01:26:56):
You know, we emulate the world.

Speaker 33 (01:26:59):
But Jesus says that our conduct. What would happen if.

Speaker 26 (01:27:05):
Our the way we dress was so cool that the
world said to us, oh, look out in Christian's dress.

Speaker 1 (01:27:12):
Oh I want to.

Speaker 26 (01:27:13):
Dress like them.

Speaker 33 (01:27:15):
It's your conduct, It's the way you make your decisions,
not being hypocrits.

Speaker 26 (01:27:22):
Come into church doing one thing, but when you.

Speaker 33 (01:27:25):
Leave those doors, it's your conduct. It's how you live
your life. Okay, here's an example. We're both working on
a job and we don't make that much money.

Speaker 3 (01:27:47):
We don't.

Speaker 33 (01:27:49):
And we're doing the same job. But God is blessing
your little bit of finances because you tie.

Speaker 18 (01:27:59):
Then your co over here.

Speaker 33 (01:28:02):
And getting blessed, and your coworker trying to figure out
why you can do so much with the same amount
that they have, and they keep scratching their head and
they can't figure it out.

Speaker 1 (01:28:15):
And then they ask you.

Speaker 26 (01:28:17):
They say, how were you able to buy a new house,
How were you able to buy a new car? How
were you able to dress your children like that? How
were you able to go on vacation?

Speaker 33 (01:28:29):
They can't figure it out because you both make the
same amount of money.

Speaker 26 (01:28:33):
So then they say, God, what is up with you?

Speaker 32 (01:28:36):
Brother?

Speaker 1 (01:28:37):
What is up with you?

Speaker 33 (01:28:39):
And you say, it's very simple. I live my life
according to the biblical principles, and I pay my tides.
And then they look at you and they go, oh,
there must be a god in heaven. There must be
a God who can supply. That's how you throw to Jesus.

(01:29:00):
How your light will throw to Jesus. Moms, there's power
in your light, but you have to understand the purpose
of your light. And then you have to understand how
your life performs. The performance of your life. It's your

(01:29:22):
good works, it's your moral conduct, how you carry yourself.

Speaker 47 (01:29:32):
Think about that a minute.

Speaker 26 (01:29:35):
How do you base your decisions?

Speaker 1 (01:29:38):
Is it how you feel?

Speaker 66 (01:29:41):
What you think?

Speaker 33 (01:29:43):
I talked to someone last week and they were telling
me that they don't feel they need to go to church.
They feel that not going to church is fine. They
can go every now and then, and so then I
share the script. Well, God says, don't forsake the fellowship

(01:30:03):
of your brother, and God says that in his word,
and you know what they said, Yeah, yeah, yeah, But
I have a relationship with God, and I think, how
many times do we do that we pick and choose.

Speaker 26 (01:30:22):
You will never have good works that throw to.

Speaker 33 (01:30:26):
Jesus if the Bible isn't your standard of conduct. I
want to end with this illustration. I hope it will
bring it home. Johnny and Natalie, who are now young adults.

(01:30:50):
Natalie's graduated from school. John junior is sophomore. Just finished
your sophomore year. Anyway, they were very close. They were
very very close. I don't know what we were thinking about,
but we had them very close.

Speaker 11 (01:31:05):
I don't know what we were thinking.

Speaker 33 (01:31:08):
And anyway, they played together. We really raised them like twins.
And one night they were in the playroom.

Speaker 11 (01:31:15):
I was in the kitchen.

Speaker 33 (01:31:16):
The playroom is right off from the kitchen, but you
have to go down a few steps and guess what,
the lights go out all of us sudden, I heard
these shrills.

Speaker 26 (01:31:28):
I heard crying, many come get it.

Speaker 1 (01:31:34):
The lights are.

Speaker 26 (01:31:37):
And I mean they were palling in there.

Speaker 33 (01:31:39):
They were so afraid because the light was gone and
there was total darkness in the house. So I'd go
to the cabinet where I keep the flashlight, and they
were in such just disarray. They were crying and screaming.
They were dis horrified. So what I did was I
got the flashlight and I stood in the kitchen where

(01:32:01):
they could see the light.

Speaker 26 (01:32:03):
And because I couldn't get to them fast enough.

Speaker 33 (01:32:05):
I just turned the flashlight on and I positioned it
so that they could see the flashlight. And I kept
telling them, Johnny Natley, come to the light, Come to
the light. They kept crying, but they were walking. They

Than my home town, and I decided that day that
I'd take my Bible with me because I realized that
many people out there that have been left alone for
a long time would have loved to hear the word
of God. And that morning I stood there by the
bedside of this mother and I said, mother, how long
have you been out here?

Speaker 2 (01:50:37):
This mother told me.

Speaker 3 (01:50:37):
I said, sister, sees, I've been out here a long time.

Speaker 2 (01:50:41):
I said, how many children do you have?

Speaker 3 (01:50:42):
Where are your sons? Where are your daughter's?

Speaker 25 (01:50:45):
And then mother told me that day my children put
me in this place a long time ago. They haven't
been back to see about men. And you're just thinking
about that. I'm reminded today a story that I heard
a lady tell me. And I heard this story. She
said that there was a mother that had two sons.

(01:51:10):
Father son was interested in himself. That son loved his mama. Son,
he said, Mother, one day, I'm gonna grow up.

Speaker 2 (01:51:21):
I'm going to college church.

Speaker 3 (01:51:23):
I want to be somebody. I want to take care
of you like you've been taking care of me. But
that other brother was not counting interest about himself. He
was no good, stayed in trouble all the time.

Speaker 26 (01:51:41):
Then Mama had to always go to.

Speaker 2 (01:51:42):
Court get that son out of trouble. Mom.
