You know I was just sitting here to me.
Speaker 6 (29:22):
You know, we as Christians, we've just been so busy, busy, busy,
But what really are we doing?
Speaker 37 (29:27):
I agree with you, agree with you busy going to
work with business school, with people, with our children and
visit with our families. But we don't seem to be
busy about the right things.
Speaker 26 (29:35):
What exactly is the right You know, we're talking about
all these problems that we have.
Speaker 3 (29:39):
In the world, but what are some of the solutions.
Speaker 21 (29:42):
What is it that we really need to ask Christians
to help solve some of these worlds?
Speaker 4 (29:47):
You know, I really think it's about half of us
to be about my father's.
Speaker 11 (30:06):
You see, Jesus went outside the door walls of what
we call the church.
Speaker 9 (30:10):
He was out in the streets, hill and the.
Speaker 37 (30:13):
Exactly he came to save the loss and unfortunately the
loss of them in the church. They're outside the church
because where we've got to be.
Speaker 4 (30:20):
In order to minister them.
Speaker 37 (30:21):
We truly got to be about our father's business.
Speaker 23 (30:41):
Now, the word gives us clear instruction of what we
are doing.
Speaker 20 (30:45):
Yes, he talks in Matter eight, nineteen.
Speaker 38 (30:48):
Twenty, and I'm a paraphrase, talks about going into the world,
teaching this matizing them in the name of the Father,
Son and of the Holy And if we do that,
we are truly about our Father.
Speaker 39 (31:17):
So see, if we don't have time to be arguing
with each other, we have to get out there and
make sure the world knows Christ.
Speaker 32 (31:25):
It's not about what we're doing.
Speaker 26 (31:26):
It's about God's business or whatever we have to do
to do this business?
Speaker 14 (31:30):
Do you need to be about?
Speaker 26 (31:35):

Here to the meet and miss Jones show with me.
Speaker 32 (44:00):
That to missus Jones.
Speaker 17 (44:04):
My wife and I just celebrated our thirty fifth wedding anniversary,
so now we're empty nesters.
Speaker 9 (44:12):
It's just the two of us and our little dog, Bella.
Speaker 17 (44:15):
Bella's a Boston Terrier, which are famous for two traits,
snoring and passing gags. So Bella and I bonded instantly.
But Bella has one superpower. If a morsel of food
ever falls on the floor, she devours it at warp
(44:35):
speeds so fast it's undetectable to the human eye. And
this comes in handy when our daughter in law comes
over and wants us to taste her latest vegan experiment.
As soon as she turns her back, it disappears, thanks
to Daddy's little helper.
Speaker 9 (44:58):
Where are the dads out there? Take your hand in there,
Dad's all right, keep your hand up. If you have
a teenage who's got a teenage over here? What's your name, sir, Adam?
How old your teenager? Adam?
Speaker 4 (45:10):
I've got three, I've got sixteen.
Speaker 9 (45:16):
Let's take the sixteen year old, Adam, real quick? What
that sixteen year old get you for Christmas? Times up?
Trick question. I do the answer, Adam, not much.
Speaker 17 (45:29):
But good news, Adam, because I am here tonight's spearheading
a campaign to put an end to an ugly trend
in this country, and that is the trend of dads
getting the short end of the gift giving sick.
Speaker 9 (45:39):
Are you with me, gentlemen? And if you don't believe
me when I.
Speaker 17 (45:44):
Tell you dads get lousy gifts, I want you to
take a stroll through the nearest mall the week before
Christmas or the week before Father's Day, and you will
see merchandise on display you do not see any other
time of the year. Why because it is junk thing
have dragged from the bowels of the stock room because
people have compelled to get something for the old man.
Speaker 44 (46:07):
Ridiculous kids. A barometer for his dash, just what every
man hops are?
Speaker 9 (46:20):
Come on at him.
Speaker 17 (46:22):
You're plowing through a stack of paperwork. You don't want
to be bothered. Turning on the radio to get the
barometric pressure and it ends up on your credit card?
What the heck is that on mymeter? Ridiculous kids, combination shoehorn,
(46:47):
limp brush.
Speaker 9 (46:49):
Who just makes you want to put some shoes off?
Three golf balls.
Speaker 17 (47:00):
That won't get me off the first tea box, a
leather bookmark shaped like a trout. If you even hesitate
in front of the leather bookmark shaped like a trout, suck.
Speaker 8 (47:16):
Yourself and give your father the three dollars from my
all time favorite long tools.
Speaker 9 (47:27):
I bet be Adam a brand spanking new rake.
Speaker 17 (47:36):
Try showing up on Mother's Day with a mop with
a ribbon on it.
Speaker 9 (47:42):
See what kind of reception you get. That's not all mom,
rubber loves.
Speaker 4 (47:49):
I love you.
Speaker 9 (47:52):
It's a swiffer.
Speaker 17 (47:56):
By the way, you think dads get lousy gifts, try
being a stepdad.
Speaker 9 (48:02):
I got step kids. Step kids are fun. If you
enjoy correcting other people's mistakes.
Speaker 17 (48:14):
Oh, I know some of you would really like to
laugh at that joke, but you'd prefer to have a
pleasant evening.
Speaker 3 (48:27):
Oh.
Speaker 9 (48:27):
I love my stepkids. I just don't know how you
discipline kids anymore. I don't know how you do it.
Speaker 17 (48:31):
I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Moved to California some
years ago, and it was culture show. You see things
in California. Never saw backis. I'll give you an example.
On a regular basis, I see fifteen year.
Speaker 9 (48:42):
Old kids coming home with their tongues peers.
Speaker 17 (48:45):
I'll tell you right now, when I was fifteen, I
strolled in the house with my tongue peers. My mother
would have ripped it out faster than a redneck taken
a daredevil lure out of a smallmouth bank.
Speaker 9 (49:01):
I don't know how you disciplined kids. I know how
my parents did. My parents were engineers. Do you have
any engineers in the room? Any engineers? Worre you worry?
Speaker 3 (49:11):
All right?
Speaker 4 (49:12):
What's your name?
Speaker 9 (49:12):
My friend? Tab?
Speaker 3 (49:15):
Tab?
Speaker 9 (49:15):
Let me tell you a little bit about tab ladies
and gentlemen.
Speaker 17 (49:22):
Do you remember the kid back in grade school who
used to push the projector cart down the hall on
film strip day. That was tab right Bear, give it up,
right Bear at the av Club. And this is a
man that has a hard job. He works fifty hours
a week trying to dream up the worst set of
circumstances that ever could possibly come down the pipe.
Speaker 9 (49:45):
These people breed negative energy all day.
Speaker 17 (49:52):
My father used to go to work with a belt
and a pair of suspenders at the same time.
Speaker 9 (49:58):
Backup system. Those pants were staying up.
Speaker 8 (50:03):
Come hell or hard water, and he knew when high
water was coming because he had a barometer.
Speaker 28 (50:11):
On his desk.
Speaker 9 (50:17):
Now, I never met Tad before in my life. Man,
I'm gonna tell you his favorite expression of the world.
Speaker 17 (50:21):
I want you to watch his wife favorite expression, worst
case scenario.
Speaker 9 (50:28):
Look, she's laughing. He got a tingle.
Speaker 17 (50:33):
I know Tad because my parents disciplined me using the
worst case scenario med it. My mother had me convinced
I could be laying on a stretcher with my lung
hanging out and not admitted to an emergency room if
my underparts weren't spots.
Speaker 50 (50:51):
Him.
Speaker 17 (50:51):
When I was twelve, I told her I might get
a tattoo, that's what of My mother reasoned me saying,
you're only twelve.
Speaker 9 (50:57):
A tattoo, well last forever. My mother system he someday
you may be wanted by the police.
Speaker 17 (51:05):
Get a tattoo, they'll have a positive identification on you.
Speaker 9 (51:11):
We'll visit you in the big house.
Speaker 17 (51:14):
You know, they say the optimists sees the glass half full,
the pessimists half empty. My mother saw it as another
dish she had to wash. And yeah, most parents say
to their children, brush your teeth every day. You'll have
a beautiful smile. Get ahead in your life. My mother says,
you don't brush those teeth, they'll run right out of
(51:35):
your face. And then someday you may be burned beyond
recognition and we won't be able to identify you with
your dental charts. Then your life insurance company will refuse.
Speaker 12 (51:56):
To pay the claim.
Speaker 9 (51:59):
Your family will be us in the streets. Your kids
will get tattoos and end up in jam.
Speaker 17 (52:09):
I said, yeah, Mom, will if ever had burned beyond recognition,
I won't have to worry about clean underpants. Well, I'm
pretty sure they're combustible. That was the first time she
spanked me with the hot wheels drag, But just for
(52:31):
the record, to this day, I have no tattoos, all
my teeth and I'm wearing clean underpants.
Speaker 3 (52:45):
I had to.
Speaker 9 (52:47):
I had a babysit the other day. And I'm not
the right guy for this.
Speaker 3 (52:50):
You know.
Speaker 9 (52:51):
It's true.
Speaker 3 (52:52):
I'm not.
Speaker 17 (52:52):
I have a little niece, she's six years old. I
love her dearly. I don't understand the stories and songs
we do for kids.
Speaker 9 (53:00):
How about this one rock a bye baby in the
tree top?
Speaker 17 (53:07):
Who in the history of mankind ever put the baby
in the tree top? Michael Jackson. That's just for argument's sake.
Let's say this really did happen one time, many years ago,
(53:28):
and some foolish person decided it would be a good
idea to put the baby in the cradle, and take
the cradle all the way to the top of the tree.
Speaker 4 (53:40):
And put it on a.
Speaker 9 (53:41):
Suspicious brand on a windy day.
Speaker 17 (53:47):
And the wind blew and the bow broke, and the
cradle fell, and there was a tragedy. Who at this
point decided to write a song about that to the
memorialize the events, with the attention of singing this this
(54:11):
show right to help them fall asleep.
Speaker 23 (54:16):
Your City's no for one DJ, must I say it again?
Speaker 26 (54:20):
I set it before move out the way when I'm
coming through.
Speaker 23 (54:22):
The door, doctor, Miss Joner, Miss.
Speaker 27 (54:24):
Joner, mis man shall not live by bread alone, but
by every word that proceeded out of the mouth of God.
It's time to bring on the word with the preacher
of the week and keep it locked right here to
the me and miss Jones. Show with me, doctor, miss Jones.
Speaker 3 (54:48):
We're going to the Gospel of John chapter fifteen, verse
nine through seventeen. I'm going to share a word of
the Lord with you. My message this morning is real men,
poor in, real men, poor.
Speaker 44 (55:10):
In.
Speaker 3 (55:15):
It's gonna be rough this morning. Brother, Yeah, real men
are not a deficit.
Speaker 17 (55:27):
Men.
Speaker 3 (55:28):
Real men are an asset. They pour.
Speaker 8 (55:35):
In.
Speaker 3 (55:37):
We're gonna have a good time. Jesus is teaching and
he's talking to his disciples about his father. He's having
a Father's Day moment with his sons. He says, ask
the Father have loved me, So have I loved you?
(55:57):
Continue ye in my love. Listen that don't go to
nothing else. As the Father have loved me in the
same proportion. Soul means in the same proportion, so have
I loved you? If he loved me little, I loved
you little. If he loved me lots. I loved you
lots as the Father have loved me. I reduplicated that
(56:21):
in my life what was modeled in front of me,
I repeated. So all I did was communicate to you
as he has communicated unto me. Later, in Glaces, you
will hear Paul talking to you about communicating with those
who teach you in all good things. And he's talking
about giving to people who teach you, because you cannot
(56:42):
give what was not poured into you. As the Father
have loved me, so have I loved you, Continue ye
in my love. Next, First, if ye keep my commandments,
ye shall abide in my love. So there's a discipline
component in it. Just emotion, it's not just love. It's
not just feeling. There's a discipline component to it. You
(57:06):
can't just turn the kids over to her because she's
a gifted nurturer, and she will nurture things that she
later regrets. That's why there are two of you, and
(57:26):
that's why you have to be released to play your
role and she plays her role, and together we balance
the home. I got rules, she's got nurturing and single
mothers have to have both, and you got to balance
(57:47):
it in his heart, even as I have kept my
father's commandment, said abide in his love. He said, I'm
abiding in his love because I obeyed. You can't expect
God to bless you if you want. If you keep
my commandments, Jesus says, as it is with me and
(58:07):
my father, so it is with me and you. If
you keep my commandments, you shall abide in my love.
Even as I have kept my father's commandments and abide
in his love. Come on these things. Have I spoken
unto you that my joy might remain in you, that
when I look at you, I'm glad, and that your joy,
(58:28):
and that your joy might be full? Those are two
joys in that text. He said, I've spoken unto you
that my joy might remain in you, that I are
a delight in seeing you coming. But I also spoken
that your joy might be full. So when you and
(58:49):
I get together, joy meets joy, so that there is
no ambiguity about what he means. He's my commandment, he
defines it. This is my commandment that you love one
another as I have loved you. Stop right there. If
(59:16):
we just did that one, he gave us one commandment,
that you love one another as I have loved you,
if I put up with you, if I'm patient with you,
(59:40):
you ought to reflect that patience in the people you love.
He didn't just say love one another. He said love
them as I have loved you. You convicted already. I
know I can make an altar call right now. Question
is your love of reflection of his? Or a reflection
(01:00:05):
of your selfishness, your frustrations, your desires, your attitudes. Can
anybody see Jesus love in the way you love? Oh,
it's gonna be tight today. This is my commandment that
(01:00:26):
you love one another one another as I have loved you.
You keep saying you are misunderstood. You're not misunderstood. You
mean you are not being misunderstood.
Speaker 23 (01:00:50):
You hateful.
Speaker 3 (01:00:53):
Love is never misunderstood. Who misunderstands? Love you nasty? But
you absolve yourself, saying they just don't get me, No,
you don't get you. Greater love have no man than this.
Now he going deeper. He going for the throat that
(01:01:15):
a man laid down his life for his friends.
Speaker 28 (01:01:20):
He said.
Speaker 3 (01:01:20):
The epitome of love is sacrifice.
Speaker 23 (01:01:25):
God so loved the world.
Speaker 28 (01:01:29):
That he.
Speaker 3 (01:01:31):
Gave, not took that he gave. See men pour in
it's not about taking wherever there is love. Love poors
lust takes a lot of people. You think love you,
(01:01:56):
just lusts you. I'm preaching already, I'm holding up in
this chest. I'm preaching already.
Speaker 9 (01:02:09):
Now.
Speaker 3 (01:02:09):
He says, you are my friends if you do whatsoever
I command you, and what He commanded us to do
with love one another. And God says, you are my
friend according to the way you love. If you don't love,
(01:02:33):
you not my friend. Henceforth, I call you not servant.
Oh here comes an upgrade. Get your iPhone because upgrades coming.
Hence fourth, I call you not servants for the This
is my only problem with servant leadership. It's a nice term.
(01:02:55):
I get what it means. But the disciples got an
upgrade from servant leadership, he says. Henceforth, I call you
not servants or slaves, for the servant know if not
what the Lord doeth. But I have called you friends.
(01:03:20):
Are the people who work for you servants or friends?
Maybe they're not working with you because you don't know
how to be nice. You don't seem interested in them.
You're only interested in goals, And as long as they
(01:03:41):
reach the goal, they're okay with you. But you don't
ask them how they are, how they're doing. You don't
check on them when they're sick. You don't visit them
in the hospital. You don't do nothing for their children.
Their servants, you don't tell them nothing. Servants don't know nothing. Servant,
(01:04:02):
nor if not, what is master doeth? You don't communicate.
They just don't get me. No, you're not doing it right,
Jesus says a servant. Nor if not, what is master doeth?
He says, And then I call you no longer servants.
I have made you my friends. For all things that
I have heard of my father, I have made known
(01:04:25):
unto you. Watch this. This is my good one right here.
This is my good one, right here, This is me
right here. You have not chosen me. You think you
came to me. You didn't come to me. I drew you.
(01:04:48):
You thought you came to the party's house this morny.
You didn't come to the party's house. I drew you
to the party's house. You have not chosen me, But
I have chosen you, and I or day that you
should go. Some of y'all felt funny when I was
talking a minute ago about being prosperous but Jesus said,
I ordain you that you should go and bring forth fruit,
(01:05:14):
just like I told you in Genesis, be fruitful. I
didn't tell you just to be alive, just to exist.
I commanded you to be fruitful, that I ordain you
to be fruitful. Somebody say I must be fruitful and
that your fruit should remain I gotta stop here and
(01:05:40):
talk to all the people that are experiencing fruit but
scared of it. You're scared to trust it. You're scared
it's not gonna stay. You're scared the marriage is not
gonna work. You're scared the promotion won't last. You're scared
where you are won't last. God said, I ordained that
your fruit should remain here. He comes with more good
(01:06:01):
stuff that whatsoever you shall ask.
Speaker 18 (01:06:04):
Of the Father in my name.
Speaker 3 (01:06:09):
He just gonna spoil you. He just gonna give it
to you. Y'all didn't hear me. You ain't even gonna
work for it. He's going to give.
Speaker 6 (01:06:24):
It to you.
Speaker 3 (01:06:28):
How many of you have ever had God give you something.
I just came back from Atlanta, and they gave me
a plaque on the sidewalk, name and grave on the street.
I thought to myself coming home on the plane. God,
I didn't even ask you for that, he said, no,
I just gave it to you. Right beside bb King
(01:06:57):
and Doctor King and Kathy Hughes is TD Jakes. I
didn't even ask for it. I didn't think to ask
for it. It was above and beyond anything I would
ask or think. But God, God's gonna do some stuff
for you that you didn't even think to ask for.
Speaker 20 (01:07:23):
These things.
Speaker 3 (01:07:24):
I command you that she loved one another. Somebody say, man,
go back to that first verse, that first verse of nine.
As the Father have loved me, so have I loved you.
I just imitated him. I just acted like him as
(01:07:45):
he poured into me. I poured into you. So have
I loved you? So have I loved The Father have
loved me vulnerably, totally, completely, unashamedly. Though I've wrapped up
in sinful flesh and took on the form of a servant.
(01:08:06):
Hit love didn't lessen because of my form. Why is
your love so conditional? Continue ye in my love, real men,
put in Father, in the name of Jesus. I thank
(01:08:28):
you first of all for the fathers. I thank you
for the mothers. I thank you for all the sisters
and brothers as we celebrate fathers specifically today, I pray
that you might use me as an instrument to encourage, instruct, inspire, renew, increase.
Thank you, Lord for having an open conversation about fatherhood,
because for many of us, the only model we have
(01:08:50):
a father comes from your word. And you taught us
when we pray to say our father, and you define
what fatherhood is to us because some of us have
never been close to a model. There are women in
this room that cannot deal with husbands because they didn't
have daddies. There are men in here that cannot be
(01:09:13):
fathers because they've never been fathered. I pray that over
the next few moments that some glimmering of hopes, some glistening,
flickering light of enlightenment with Sou touch them that a
seed is planting in their heart. I believe you for miracles,
have your way of God in Jesus' name, Amen, you
(01:09:36):
may be seated in the presence of God. Let's go
to work. Everything begins with fatherhood. The whole Bible begins
with fatherhood. It starts out with a father that we
(01:09:57):
call God in o he L oheim L God Hem
plural God in many forms spoke and let there be
now to be totally honest and accurate. God is complete
within himself. And when I say father, I'm talking about
a position, not a gender, because he would have it
(01:10:22):
hasn't been like hermorphodite, having both. He is both father
and mother. He is our father, and yet he is
subbreasted one. He is complete within himself, lacking nothing in
(01:10:45):
order to create. He didn't need anything. He had everything
in himself to do what he wanted done. That's why
when He created Adam, he didn't have to create Eve
because Adam was created in the likeness of God, which
didn't make him a male. So when he saw a woman,
(01:11:11):
God pulled the woman out of him. And when Adam
woke up, he.
Speaker 9 (01:11:17):
Said, whoa.
Speaker 4 (01:11:21):
Man?
Speaker 28 (01:11:26):
Whoa man?
Speaker 9 (01:11:28):
Check it out?
Speaker 3 (01:11:29):
Is me with an opening, She's a man with a womb.
I'll call her woman. The first thing he noticed about
it was not her hip slips, her fingertips. He says,
she is my body. She is bone of my bone
and flesh of my flesh. That is why the Church
(01:11:52):
is both the bride of Christ and the body of Christ.
When God begins to create, he uses the earth as
a womb, the planet as a womb, and he injected
(01:12:13):
his seed in the womb of the earth. The Bible
says later in Roman's Hate that the whole creation growneth
and travaileth in pain. Only a woman can travail in pain.
He uses the earth as a womb. He used his
(01:12:35):
word as sperm. When his sperm hit the womb of
the earth, he said, let there be, and there was birth.
And the reason the whole creation can travail is because
she has been God's womb. It started with Father God,
(01:13:00):
going to the scripts that will end with Father God.
The Bible says that Jesus will take the kingdom and
commit it into the hands of the Father, and God
shall be once again all in all. Tell y'all, don't
hear me. What I just said might have went over
your head. But what I just said, walk from Genesis
(01:13:24):
to Revelations. It told you how it started as one.
It told you how it will all go back to one.
That everything that came forth out of God will go
back to God, and God shall be all in all,
complete within himself, lacking nothing. That's why when we pray,
(01:13:45):
we say, Oh Father, everything came out of him. Real
men pour in. When Adam is created and Eve is
pulled out of him, he breaks the divine order because
(01:14:07):
men were designed to pour in when he started receiving
from her. If Adam had not allowed Eve to pour
into him, Sin would have never come into the world.
Sin came into the world because Adam broke the order.
(01:14:33):
We were not designed to receive from women. Your self
esteem is compromised when you have to ask your wife
for lunch money. I'm not saying you got to be rich.
I'm not saying you got to be famous. I'm saying
that you have got to be the one who pours in,
(01:14:56):
not the one who takes out. When Adam started eat
out of his wife's hand, Sin came in because the
divine order was broken. Are you hearing what I'm saying
to you? And Adam all of a sudden has allowed
(01:15:19):
the curse to come because he stopped pouring women, be
careful about pouring too much into us. We are designed
(01:15:41):
to pour into you, and you are designed to take
what we pour into you and increase it and make
it better. You increase it, you appreciate it, and you
(01:16:04):
multiply it. This breaks all sociological order of the culture
we're living in now, because we are raising up women
to be men, and you are not applauded for your femininity.
(01:16:30):
You are applauded in the contemporary society by how tough, rough, nasty, mean, aggressive, hateful,
possessive you are. And you are climbing the corporate ladder.
But we are losing our families. I know you can
(01:16:50):
buy your own car, I know you can buy your
own house. But until you create a need that I
can pour into, I have no place in your life.
Speaker 20 (01:17:00):
So stop coming.
Speaker 3 (01:17:01):
Home bragging to me about how much you don't need me,
and wonder why I shy away. Oh y'all ain't gonna
talk back to me this morning. The conversation has become
let's prove to the man how dispensable they are. And
(01:17:25):
it is born out of pain, because we hunt you
and betrayed you and lied to you and cheated to you,
and you became like you became out of pain. But
watch what is boring out of pain? But no, noa,
(01:17:45):
I can never be king. Only Benjamin. That is boring
out of pain is the way you cope with disorder
insists for better out of me, rather than replacing me.
(01:18:07):
Oh Lord, I told you they weren't gonna like this. Jesus,
let's go from the scriptures to anatomy. Anatomically, men pour in.
Life begins when men pour in. We were designed to
(01:18:33):
pour in. You were designed to preserve what is poured
in as it is in the physical, so it is
in the spiritual we are designed to pour in. My
wife's brother got sick the other day, really really sick,
and we were out of the country, and I knew
(01:18:53):
she was upset because I know her and I know
how to read her signs. It's not that she falls
apart or anything like that. Little smoke signals that sent
up that says that's sos. And if you don't learn
how to read the person's signals that you're married to,
you can't stay with them. The Bible says, dwell with
a woman according to knowledge. The better you understand her,
(01:19:15):
the better the chances you are of being able to
be with her. So I knew she was upset. I
came where she was and I sat down on the
bed beside her, and I started praying for her, and
I started praying for her brother. Because men pour in,
they're not indifferent. They're not deaf, they're not tone deaf,
(01:19:40):
They're not emotionally detached. I could have kept doing what
I was doing, but I understood as a man and
a priest of my home. I didn't pray for her
because she can't pray for herself. She often praise for me.
(01:20:03):
But my ability to go in and be priest of
my house and be worried about what she's worried about,
and care about what she cares about is what helps
me to be a man. That pours in. Pouring in
is not just about money. You're not just a father
because you'll send a check. Let me do two things.
(01:20:31):
I'm getting ahead of myself. First, there's a difference between
being a good husband and being a good father. It
is possible to be better at one than you are
at the other. It is possible to be a better
mother than you are a wife. That's why mothers easily
align the children on their side, because often she's better
(01:20:51):
at being a mother than a wife, and the mother
the kids become her tribe, her support system. The moment
she becomes shaky concerning him, she gathers her troops. Talk
to me, ladies. She gathers her troops. Sometimes she gathers
(01:21:16):
them because she knows he cares more about them than
he does her, and it's a way to give him
pain so he can feel what she's feeling. In other words,
you're gathering your troops is not only to strengthen you,
It is revenge. Since you took away what I love,
(01:21:41):
I'm gonna take away what you love. The only problem
he is while you're getting revenge, you're hurting your kids.
So you got the child's support, but you didn't get
the child support. The heart can make a man pay
(01:22:15):
child support, but they can't make him give child support
because child support is not a check. It's attention. Come on, fathers,
Come on, fathers. Jesus does not discuss how the father
(01:22:39):
made him rich or famous. He talked about how the
father loved him. When you take the father's love from
the child, or the father doesn't know how to give
love to the child outside of the woman, the child
is damaged. Are you hearing what I'm saying? Let me
(01:23:05):
let me get some water here?
Speaker 8 (01:23:06):
For many.
Speaker 3 (01:23:10):
Wait, I came to this glass to get some water,
but it had none. No matter how thirsty I am,
it has no water. I can't get any water poured
(01:23:33):
into me because it had no water poured into it.
It is hard to pour into people what was not
poured into you. I got this big picture here. It
(01:23:58):
looks good, it's nice, it's fancy, it's cute, it's fine,
it's wonderful, and honestly, it's expensive. But it's empty. Just
because you're rested up, don't mean you pour in. Just
because you got a Gucci bag. Don't mean you pour
in just because you gotta fine watch. That means you
(01:24:22):
pour in.
Speaker 20 (01:24:23):
You can be fine as wine.
Speaker 3 (01:24:25):
And have nothing to pour in, And pretty soon we're
gonna get tired of you being cute. You cute, but
you're empty, sir, men pour Both the glass and the
(01:24:57):
picture are empty. And I can't get my thirst quenched
from an empty glass. And the glass can't give me
water because the thing that was designed to pour into
it was also empty. Let me tell you why you're dry.
(01:25:26):
The thing that was designed to pour into you, it's empty.
So Jesus says, move in real close home in jamail.
Jesus says, as the Father have loved me, so have
(01:26:06):
I loved you. I can't pour into you until something
is poured So what do I do when the person
(01:26:43):
that should have been full is empty or left or died,
And my thirsts have never been fulfilled because they were empty.
Have you noticed in the texts that when Jesus talks
about fatherhood, he doesn't mention Joseph. Joseph is his earthly father.
(01:27:13):
He is in the beginning of the story of Jesus.
He disappears early in the story. We don't see Joseph
pass Jesus turning twelve. There are debates about what happened
to him, but he is absent. Jesus cannot draw from
Joseph's poor Joseph started out pouring because he was called
(01:27:43):
the carpenter's son. Somewhere the flow broke. H double shadda kaya.
I want to talk to some people in this room that, somewhere,
either by death, abandonment, draw whatever it was, the flow
broke and left you thirsty. And I guarantee you if
(01:28:06):
it left you thirsty, man or woman, it also left
you angry, because I don't understand how I could have
anything that looked so good and was so empty. So
(01:28:27):
we look good to the community, We look good to everybody,
but behind closed doors, you ain't pouring nothing into me,
and gradually I become angry with you because you're not
being able to pour into me, leaves me desperate and thirsty.
(01:28:50):
And then you hit me with commandments and tell me
where not to drink.
Speaker 28 (01:28:58):
But you dry?
Speaker 3 (01:29:05):
How can you be dry? And then tell me where
not to drink. Jesus doesn't talk to us about commandments.
Before he talks to us about love. He says, as
a father has loved me, so have I loved you.
Then he talks about keep my commandments. You can't keep
(01:29:28):
commandments if you can't drink. Real men pour in my wife.
It took me. It took me about ten years, maybe longer,
(01:29:48):
to even understand her. I get it, bro They're weird,
they're different, they're strange. They're not like us. She told
me i'd be on the road. Oh baby, I miss you.
I can't wait for you to come home. I thought, now,
(01:30:19):
my I'm sorry. I had lose moment. I didn't get
to take my medication because I was in the her
this morning and I had to get out of the house.
But I flew home with visits. I was gonna come
in the door. She was gonna rip off, you know, anyway.
(01:30:46):
I came in the door, she kissed me, saying I'm
so glad you home, and went back to watching Lifetime murders.
I went in my man cave. I thought about it
killing her. I thought to know that that wouldn't be
the right thing to do. That wouldn't be the right
thing to do. That wouldn't be the right thing to do.
It made me so mad that all she wanted me
(01:31:12):
to do was be home. It took me fifteen years
to figure out that she didn't want my present. She
wanted my presence. Don't get me wrong, she didn't want
(01:31:40):
my presence sometime. That's how we got to give it.
But she didn't want my president as much as I
wanted to get up anyway, Back to real Menpoyt, where
are my fellows that make some noise?
Speaker 20 (01:32:03):
Fellas?
Speaker 3 (01:32:05):
Maybe because we started out as bucks, we think our
real value is what we put in anatomically, and we
have not learned the value of what we give with
our presence. Just to be there, just to know you're
(01:32:39):
in the house, just to hear your crazy snore, just
to know that if a noise breaks out at night,
you are there, just for your kids to see what
(01:33:00):
it's lack to live with a man? Stops your daughter
from having to go find one to figure one out.
Talk to me, girls, may stop your son for looking
for a male attention from another man. So while we
(01:33:32):
appreciate the check and your anatomical flow, until we get
your emotional flow, there will always be a deficit. Because
Jesus doesn't start out talking about money, and he doesn't
I've talking about sex. When he talks about his father,
(01:33:54):
he says, as the father has loved me, so have
I loved you? Real men? Pour in how your float? Bro?
(01:34:18):
How is your flow? I used to think that the
only time kids need fathers is when they're little, but
you never outgrow your need for daddy. She screamed him
(01:34:48):
and said, you bet my father. Bishop. We had a
father's stay here several years ago, and we always honored
the mothers on Mother's Day. We penning roses on the
mother's We decided to depend of coursogis the fathers, and
we gave all the people corsages to pin on their fathers.
But there weren't many fathers. So this one little boy
(01:35:09):
got up and walked down now and came and pinned
the corsage on me because he said I was his father,
and now he didn't know how to pin the corsage,
so he stuck it into my chest and I was
too gracious to flinch, so I bled in silence. And
(01:35:36):
then this grown man about thirty eight forty years old
came down and pinned another corsage on me and said,
you're my father too. Until my whole row was covered
with flowers. And what they didn't know is under the flowers,
I was bleeding when I went upstairs, and I pulled
(01:36:02):
all the roses off. All of my clothes had bloodstains
in them, because being a father is bloody. It looks
(01:36:23):
rosy on the outside, but it is bloody on the inside.
And there are all kinds of books about women in
their pain, and women in their emotions, and women in
their careers, and Women Today in Essence magazine and all
(01:36:44):
kinds of stuff. And when it comes to man's magazines,
all they try to do is show you how to
be more sexy, because all they think we are is firm.
We have no contexts. Can I teach you this morning?
(01:37:04):
I'm not gonna shout to you this morning. Can I
teach you? We have no contexts. When we see the blood,
you must understand when the Bible says, husbands love your
wives as Christ's love the Church, the women are so
busy fussing about submission that they didn't read the rest
(01:37:26):
of the verse, Husbands love your wife as Christ hath
loved the church. Whoa wait a minute and dave himself
me and pour in He died you talking about submission.
You ain't gonna submit that nobody. I got the worst
(01:37:47):
end of the deal. He told me to die for you,
He told me to bleed with it and still standing there.
(01:38:07):
I wanna thank every father. I wanna thank every father
(01:38:35):
who stood up to the pain and secretly wiped away
the blood and didn't quit, and didn't run away, and
didn't hide and stayed wait a minute, wait wait, stayed
emotionally available while he was personally bleeding. Because us, the
(01:39:00):
first thing we want to do with pain is internalize it,
and the wall we build to protect ourselves from the
pins they stick in us won't let their pain in,
but won't let our emotions out, and we become numb
(01:39:22):
and die though we are physically present. So just because
you have a man in the house doesn't mean He's home.
Home is when you don't lose your emotional language because
(01:39:49):
of your personal pain. Home is when you understand those
that you live amongst and can pour into the what
they need, even though you didn't get poured into you
what you need. And that seems so unfair. If you
(01:40:10):
look to her to feel it, you're going to be
disappointed because if she admires you, she sees you as
such a hero that you make being you look easy.
So she doesn't minister to you like she does her
girlfriends because she relates to female pain and she has
(01:40:34):
no clue how much it costs you to be you.
It doesn't mean she's insensitive. It means she's uninformed. And
by the time you start speaking, you are so angry
(01:40:54):
that the point gets lost in the pain. So she
may not always be the one who pours back into you.
Go back. Your father might not have poured into you.
Where is Joseph? Where is Joseph? In this text, we
(01:41:19):
haven't seen Joseph since the feast? Where is Joseph? Why
is Mary following Jesus while he's doing miracles and we
see her following him all the way to the cross,
and we do not see his father. His father missed
his football games. His father wasn't there when he graduated.
His father wasn't there when he went to the cross.
(01:41:41):
His father wasn't there when he raised it dead. His
father wasn't there when he walked on water. His father
wasn't there. Wasn't there, wasn't there, wasn't there. His mama
was always running in behind him somewhere and said, I'm
jesus mother. Even if I have to sit in the back,
I'll still be in the room because I'm his mama.
Or what Jesus could not get from Joseph he got
(01:42:08):
from God. Come on, come on, come on, come on,
come on, come on. He should have been able to
get it from Joseph. You can't tell me it wouldn't
have mattered when Jesus was on the cross if he
(01:42:30):
could have looked out and seen Joseph. You can't tell
me that it don't make a difference to see your
daddy when you're doing what you do. You can't tell
me that you're not looking for him when you're stretched
(01:42:51):
wide and hung high. Instead, he sees Mama, and from
the cross, he has a conversation with a physical mother,
but a spiritual father, Come on with me. Somewhere along
(01:43:15):
the way. I'm not indicting Joseph. He could have died.
I don't know what happened to him. Somewhere along the
way where Joseph let down his heavenly father. Poor dead,
so to the man. And I'll close with this, Where
do you get the poor when everybody in your life
(01:43:42):
wants some more? You and everybody got a thirst. Your
siblings got a thirst, Your children got a thirst. If
you got grandchildren, they got a thirst. Ascott a thirst.
The world has a thirst, The church has a thirst,
(01:44:13):
Your friends have a thirst. And you say, I don't
have nothing left for me, Paul wrote Timothy. He said,
I'm about to be offered up. I've given so much away.
I'm down to the last drunk. Offered up is when
(01:44:39):
the glass has given its last truck. There are some
men in this room who are burning fumes. You're down
to your last truck. And you came to church this morning.
(01:45:02):
You look good, you smell good, you got on your
bow tie, you fancy. But the truth of the matter
of your cup is turned up. You're about to be
offered up. And I want to pray for you because
I want to transition you from looking to people to
fill you up. That doesn't absolve them of their responsibility.
(01:45:32):
Sometimes they're gonna get it right, and sometimes they're gonna
get it wrong. And sometimes they're gonna do it right,
and sometimes they're gonna do it wrong. And sometimes they're
gonna fill you up with what you don't need while
they avoid what you do need. And sometimes their timing
is going to be off, and you're gonna be empty,
and they won't even know it, because they're gonna say
(01:45:55):
what you're thinking about, and you're gonna say when we
say nothing, it is something. When you say to us,
what are we thinking about and we say nothing, we're lying.
(01:46:17):
It just means that what we're thinking about we don't
think you can handle, and so we are silently empty.
Paul told Timothy, because he trusts Timothy, he said, come
before winter. It's cold. I don't even have a coat.
(01:46:44):
I am the greatest apostle of the New Testament. I
have healed and raised the dead for people who never
gave me a coat. But I trust you, Timothy, because
I know you love me. I just hope you get
(01:47:10):
here soon enough. Come before winter, because nobody knows, but
you that I am empty as as in proportion to
(01:47:46):
as the father, as the father have loved me, not Joseph,
not Mary, as a father has loved me. In that
same capacity, I'm able to love you. You know what,
(01:48:10):
It's very personal. I can love some of the craziest people,
people that everybody rejected and threw away, thought they'd never
be nothing. I will take the dark horse every time.
And I couldn't figure out why I do that, even
(01:48:30):
when it's dangerous, even when it's stupid, even when it
looks hopeless, I go after them. But then when I
read this text, I remembered why. Because I was a
dark horse, and as the father had loved me, because
(01:48:52):
I was born in a raggedy house on the side
of the hill, on the backside of a mountain, to
fighting parents and chaotic circumstances, and because it looked like
I would never be nothing, and he poured into me.
I can still believe that he can pour it into you.
(01:49:17):
I can believe, man, no matter what you did or
who you did it with, for how long you did it,
or whether you're HIV positive, or whether you're strung out
on drugs, or whether you're having nervous or emotional problems,
or whether you're going through crisis. I still believe God
has a plan for your life. I believe in spite
(01:49:41):
of you going to jail, in spite of you being
locked up in prison, in spite of you disappointing people
and letting people down, God still has a plan for
your life. And the only way I can love like
that is because I have been loved like that. And
as the father hath loved me, I love the way
(01:50:05):
he loved because that's what he poured into me, and
that's what I pour into you. If you are running dry,
come to this haltar right now. I don't care how
old or young you are. Don't you think for one minute,
(01:50:31):
because I'm your pastor, I don't run dry. Don't you
think for one minute that I don't get empty. Don't
you think for one minute that I don't get tired
and want to quit. Don't you think for one minute
that I don't want to run away and hide. Don't
you think for one minute that I don't ever want
to get in my car and keep driving until I
run out of gas and figure it out from there.
Don't you think that you are unusual or crazy or
(01:50:55):
weak or phony because you run dry. It's not your
fault who did or did not pour into you, but
it is your fault if you don't learn how to
go to God and let him pour back into the.
