(01:05:54):
yeah yeah. I'm sitting next to my boy on the yard.
God by the name of Cliff. When she walked why
Cliff said, hey, what's up Erica? I was like, hey, bro,
you know her? And he was like, yeah, that's e
I said, how well do you know her?
Speaker 39 (01:06:09):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (01:06:10):
Yeah? Because I want to know, have you seen a
naked I'm just gonna be honest, have you seen a negget?
Don't get me wrong. If you have, it's no problem.
But I need to know today. I don't want to
find out later. Let me know right now if you've
done seen a nacket. Cliff was like, now, now, no,
I ain't seen it like that. I said, what's you?
Call her back over here? So he calls her over.
They engaged in conversation. He says, this is my boy, Marcus.
(01:06:32):
She never looked at me. She went, hey, uh, well,
little did she know? That turned me on right now.
I like a girl with attitude. Yeah, I like spikes.
I eat spikes. I eat that. Yeah, I like that.
Speaker 7 (01:06:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:06:50):
That was December twelfth, nineteen ninety six. Two days later,
it's December fourteenth. I am the graduate assistant for the
Lady Tigers, the basketball team. That's how I'm paying for school.
So after we practice, I took them to the cafeteria
to eat lunch. While were now eating, that thing walks
in again. I tell the girls, I say, hey, y'all,
(01:07:12):
see that chick right there. She looks like missus Wiley.
Now what I said, she looks like missus Wyler. This
is this is very big because I don't know her.
I don't know the generational curses that's been passed through
her life. I don't know nothing about her d n now.
I don't know how she was raised. I don't know nothing.
I just know she looked like missus Wiley. So the
(01:07:36):
girls were like, well, marcause you think you a player,
why don't you get up? I said, bet So, I
grabbed a napkin and I wrote on the napkin, are
you interested in me?
Speaker 39 (01:07:49):
Check?
Speaker 1 (01:07:49):
Yes, that's it. This ain't no multiple choice. Don't get
you all the mo options. You see what the LAWD
is doing?
Speaker 39 (01:08:02):
Check yes.
Speaker 1 (01:08:06):
So the girls are like, boy, that ain't gonna work.
It ain't gonna work. I said, well, it's really not
to see if it's gonna work or not. It's more
of an ice break. I'm trying to see if she
my type of girl. Do she have a type of personality?
I like, because if she my kind of girl, when
she gets this, she gonna smile, maybe blush, laugh or
something like that. If she not my kind of girl,
when she gets the napkin, she gonna poo, child that
(01:08:28):
throw it all the way. That ain't my type. That's
not my type. So we passed the napkin over to
her table. And we were just like this. She got
the napkin. She opened it up. She smiled. She put
her head in her hands. I said, bingo. So I
(01:08:52):
walked over there. I said, excuse me, but are you married?
She says no. I said, are you engaged? She says no.
I say, do you have more than two kids.
Speaker 11 (01:09:06):
Now?
Speaker 1 (01:09:06):
Because I can't take care of myself right now, so
I don't want to have Nobody else said it's here.
She says no. I say, do you have an incurable disease?
It's college. You don't act like that. It's college.
Speaker 11 (01:09:21):
She said no.
Speaker 1 (01:09:22):
But what are all the questions for? I said, I'm
just trying to see what's going to stop us from
being together. She said, none of the above. I say, well,
look here, I got sixty five dollars till my name.
(01:09:42):
That's checking savings car console under the mattress, in my sock.
Sixty five dollars tell my name. But I want to
spend it all on year. She said, Oh that's so sweet.
But I got a data. I said, well, call him
and tell him you done found your man. She said,
(01:10:04):
I may have, but I'm going on that day tonight.
And little did she know that turned me all again.
Speaker 39 (01:10:13):
Ooh, I like a lady that stick to high itenerary.
Speaker 28 (01:10:16):
Man, I like that.
Speaker 1 (01:10:18):
So we've changed numbers. A couple of days later she
called me. We started dating. Then after that we was courteen.
I met A December twelfth, nineteen ninety six. We got
engaged April the eleventh, nineteen ninety seven. We were married
August twenty third, nineteen ninety seven. She not pregnant. I
(01:10:42):
could read your mind. She not pregnant. She not pregnant.
I just told you she looked like she's supposed to
be with me though. So man, before we got married,
I shared with Erica. I said, look here, I had
dreams before I met you, and if you will be
so kind to allow me five years to chase my dream,
(01:11:05):
let me find myself, let me get my foot, and
give me five years to chase my dream. Now, I
ain't gonna hold you long. If I don't get it
by five years, I ain't gonna be fifty one years old.
Time about you know, my rap c d be about
to drop. I ain't gonna do you like that. Just
give me five years.
Speaker 20 (01:11:21):
Man.
Speaker 1 (01:11:22):
That girl looked at me and said I can do that.
I said, okay, well, send you in agreeance with me.
Not only do I need five years to find myself,
but I need you to hold a job down for
five years, because you know, I'm gonna be getting jobs quitting,
i'ma be getting jobs getting fired, i'ma be getting jobs
walking away. And I need you to hold me dine
(01:11:45):
for five years. That girl said I can do that.
I said, well, hold on, since I'm going so well
with you right now. Not only do I need you
to give me five years, you know, to get myself together,
and how only do I need you to hold on
the job for five years while I'm doing that, I
also need you to shut up about it. I knew
(01:12:06):
I was gonna lose the ladies right there. They was
we me at first. Okay, shut up. Wait, hold on,
who are you talking to?
Speaker 15 (01:12:14):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:12:15):
No, I don't mean shehe him have a voice. I
meant I don't want to hear about you talking about when.
Speaker 4 (01:12:19):
You're gonna get a job and when you gonna do.
Speaker 1 (01:12:22):
This, because it's not gonna always look good. Okay, it's
gonna be some days. I told her, you're gonna get
up and go to work and I'm gonna be sitting
on the couch and you're gonna work eight hours and
then you're gonna come home and I'm gonna steal be
sitting on the couch. Yeah, that ain't gonna look good.
But today was a thinking day and the Bible say,
(01:12:46):
so a man thinking, so is he? But the girl
said I can do that, And so man, we got married.
We got me. And when we got married, Oh, at
the beginning, it was beautiful. In the beginning, it was
so much fun. Because when we got married, y'all, I
(01:13:10):
didn't bring anything to the table. She didn't bring anything
to the table, so we had to build a table.
So all we had at that time in the beginning
was sex. That's all. We had a lot of sex,
just sex all the time. You know how to Bible say,
love covers a multitude of sins. Well, in marriage, sex
(01:13:35):
covers a multitude of insufficiencies. Yeah, when you don't have
no money, when you hearst get married, all you have
is sex. We be in tomorrow. My wife be like, oh,
that's a beautiful purse. I wish I could get that.
I'd be like, I wish I could get it for
you all. But what I can do, Let's get on
back to the hide. Let's go on back to the hide. Yeah,
(01:14:00):
we was having sex all the time. Sex before church,
sex after church. Just sex. It's almost twisted because I
would tell her, hey, cut that Freddy Jackson off, put
on fred Hammond, or we finally having sex, sin free,
let's do it to God for music. You know. Yeah,
we were so free. I'm so happy to be having
(01:14:20):
sex and not having to come to church on Sunday,
talking about give myself. We was legal, let me stay here.
We was having a lot of sex in the beginning.
That one of the jobs I hated in that five years.
I was a middle school teacher. Can't stand middle school kids.
(01:14:41):
They want to be grown one day, babies the other.
They can't stand. The worst job ever had. But my wife.
The only reason why that job was cool because on
her lunch break, she would come up there on my
lunch break while them kids are at lunch and be
all type of nasty in that classroom. And when them
kids came back, I said, hey, don't sit it right
(01:15:02):
there unless you want a mustache. At thirteen, don't you
sit right there. There wasn't no hand sanitizer back then.
I'll go up to her job sometime. Yeah, park in
the parking garage. She come out there. This is the
praise seem lead I'm talking about. She come out there
and we have praise and worship right in that parking garage. Yeah,
(01:15:26):
a bunch of sens. So we rolling a couple of years.
And when by man we rolling, things are cool. And
I remember I was at my father's church. It was
this deacon at my father's church named Deacon s. Steve's.
That was his name, Deacon s Ste's, And he asked me,
he said, hey, Mark, how's marriage going. That's what people do.
They like to ask for how's marriage going. And you know,
(01:15:48):
at the time, I was like, you know, Deacon's it's cool.
Speaker 16 (01:15:51):
Look to the sounds of.
Speaker 1 (01:15:55):
Did he go to rapping? Well, be careful, stay prayerful,
stayun knowing it so you won't get disappointed, be blessed,
no stress. But then he says to me. He says,
(01:16:16):
and Marcus, beware of the five year itch. He said
five correcting me up here on my show, I'm telling
you what the man said. He said, beware of the
(01:16:42):
five year itch. I had never heard of this to
know what this was, the five year itch, but it
seemed like, right after he said it, I just thought
(01:17:04):
it's in all over man. Oh, Because now we're about
four years in and we have hit one of them seasons.
I'm not liking marriage. I like her, but I'm not
liking marriage. One of the biggest things I didn't like
about marriage was I didn't know marriage come with a curfew.
(01:17:31):
Oh you didn't know your marriage comes with a curfew. Now,
it's not like a child's curfew. It's not like somebody
telling you to be at home at a certain time.
That's not how the curfew work. The curfew is based
off of the event you're currently at. Okay, So, for instance,
like if you're here tonight without your spouse, what your
(01:17:53):
spouse is at home doing right now? It's calculating the
time he or she believes you should be coming in
the house. When they get to the conclusion of the time,
they're not gonna call and tell it to you. They
not gonna text it to you. You should just know.
(01:18:16):
So when I first got married, I didn't know nothing
about no no curfew. I go to my wife will
be like, hey, Bay, I'm gonna go check out this
little show tonight. You want to come? My wife be
like you know, bam, I'm a little tired. You go
ahead and go I be like good, yeah, because hey,
married people want to let their hair down sometime. Yeah,
(01:18:39):
married people need they own independence. It ain't like I'm
trying to get in trouble, but I'm trying to be
as close to it as possible. I'm trying to walk
in there. This is what trouble at right here, Hold
trouble on that side. Okay, I'm gonna go over there.
Speaker 4 (01:18:53):
Yeah yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:18:55):
But what I did not know was my wife will
be at home like this here. Okay, okay. So that
show started at seven. They normally last about two hours.
That's nine. I'm gonna give him fifteen minutes to key
(01:19:16):
key key with everybody. He loved talking in public, but
when at home he always looking out sad in the face,
our melancholy, looking like he don't want to.
Speaker 20 (01:19:28):
Be here, you ain't gotta be here.
Speaker 1 (01:19:34):
But when he in the public, he always skinning and grinning,
cheesing and sneezing. We live fifteen minutes from the venue.
Ladies and gentlemen, your curfew tonight. It's no later than
(01:19:54):
somebody said nine thirty. Oh my god, gonna count traffic,
all this construction on these streets out here, And let
me say this, men don't go straight home.
Speaker 21 (01:20:10):
We don't.
Speaker 1 (01:20:10):
This don't mean we're in trouble, were trying to get
in trouble. We just don't go straight home. I can
stop at a gas station have a forty five minute
conversation with a complete stranger about something stupid. Who better,
Jordan Lebron, We just out there talking. And then while this,
I watch my daddy. I watch my dad right the
(01:20:32):
pastor come home late sometime and my mama, hey, where
you been? And my daddy, you know, men of that generation,
he come right in. I want to see a man
about a dog, And as a kid.
Speaker 20 (01:20:49):
I'd be like, what dog?
Speaker 1 (01:20:54):
We don't even like pasts? What is he talking about?
Speaker 13 (01:20:58):
Yeah?
Speaker 21 (01:20:59):
I didn't know that.
Speaker 1 (01:21:00):
That meant mind your business, don't be questioning me. You
ain't my mom. I didn't know that then, But when
I got married, I tried the same thing.
Speaker 20 (01:21:10):
Walk right in, my wife? Where you been?
Speaker 39 (01:21:13):
Man?
Speaker 1 (01:21:13):
I went to see a man bout a dog? My wife,
what dog? What a dog?
Speaker 49 (01:21:19):
At?
Speaker 1 (01:21:19):
Show me a pretre of the dog?
Speaker 20 (01:21:21):
What kind of dog is it?
Speaker 1 (01:21:22):
I said? Hey, man, My mama never said none of that. A. No,
I wasn't liking it. I wasn't liking marriage. I wasn't
liking it.
Speaker 4 (01:21:40):
Man.
Speaker 1 (01:21:41):
I felt like I had married the wrong one. Yeah,
I felt like I picked wrong. Plus I've been looking
and I've seen stuff that's bigger, better, more efficient, faster.
So me and my wife we were talking crazy to
(01:22:03):
each other, talking out the side our necks, being very disrespectful.
Don't look at me like that. She got him off too,
she talking crazy. And I remember the day when it
hit the fan. Man, I was at the crib, sitting
down talking to one of my best friends, god by
the name of Maurice. And were sitting there talking, just
(01:22:25):
having a good time. Erica busting the door. Oh Marcus,
we need to talk, Maurice. You need to leave.
Speaker 11 (01:22:35):
Man.
Speaker 1 (01:22:35):
I sat there. I said, Hey, hold on, hold on real,
hold hold on, hold on all on. How long I
been knowing you? He said, since nineteen eighty four. I said,
I just met her. There's a cold line right there.
(01:23:00):
But my boy rees said, n I'm gonna get out
of here. You gonna talk to your wife, handling your besiness.
That's what a good friend will do. Yeah, bad friend
like you call dog. You wed the paths over there,
(01:23:24):
so we leave out the apartment. We lived in a
mid rise, seventh or seventh story midrise. We lived on
the seventh floor. I walked, reached down to this truck,
dapped him up, get back on the elevator. Right as
I turn to get ready to go on the hallway
to our apartment, I see all these clothes, all these
(01:23:48):
clothes just all in the hallway, Howard, just full of clothes, shoes, everything.
I'm so arrogant at the time, I'm thinking, somebody gonna
be mad, somebody got I started walking to my apartment,
and as I'm getting now, I'm noticing deep my shoes,
(01:24:09):
Hey up my jacket. So I go to the door.
Boom boom boo boom a lot. First I try to
open it up, but it was a lot. So I'm
boo boo, boom boom boo, say man, open the door,
open the door. She like, na, uh uh, you don't.
I don't know if she's doing this, but I feel
like she is. No, you don't want to be here,
(01:24:31):
you ain't got to be here, And all that those time,
I said, man, open the door, man, this is corner.
What you're doing all this soap roper stuff. Open the door.
I ain't got my keys or nuts. He said, I'm
gonna throw your keys at your wilet over in the back.
And I said, that's you throw my stuff over with
no balcony while I'm yelling white people walking by, Hey,
how y'all doing y'all? Okay, know y'all?
Speaker 4 (01:24:48):
Good?
Speaker 1 (01:24:48):
Everything good? Now, Now this is how we play. We
play like this all the time. Yes, it's crazy, man,
open the door, Open the door. I'm beating on I'm
ringing a doorbell.
Speaker 18 (01:24:57):
Man.
Speaker 1 (01:24:57):
Girl, ain't open no door.
Speaker 11 (01:25:00):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (01:25:01):
I went down to the lease in office. I did
the worst thing I could have ever done. I don't
know why. I didn't tell the people at the lease
in office, hey, go open y'all door. But instead I
called the police. I didn't know. I didn't know. I
had no idea. They are not on my side. I
(01:25:29):
put on my police voice. When they showed up. I
met them downstairs. They got there, I said, hey, guys,
thanks for coming. Listen. I called you because me and
my wife, you know, a little argument, little riff, little TIFFs,
and she didn't lock the door. You know how women
can be, And so she locked the door, and I
(01:25:50):
call you guys just to get me back in my apartment.
Dude like, okay, cool, let's go on up there. We
get the elevator. We walking. Man, I'm some nice shoes.
I said, hey, stay focused, stay focused. He knocks on
the door. She opened the door. He walked right to her.
(01:26:12):
Ma'am did he touch you? I said, hey, woa, hold on,
I call, y'all.
Speaker 39 (01:26:21):
I call.
Speaker 1 (01:26:23):
I don't know what this patch told you, but I'm
the one that called you. And downstairs when I mentioned you,
the next hand she touched me. Yeah, what's going on here?
And for a split second I looked at Erica, my wife,
and she was like this. I was like, ooh, don't
do me like this now. Anyway, the police begins to
(01:26:45):
talk to us, and he shares with us that hey,
we do these domestic calls all the time, and what
we found in our experience is if somebody don't leave,
we find ourselves rich turning back here again. And so, sir,
since all your stuff already outside this your stuff out
(01:27:09):
did right, Yeah, it'll be easier for you to go
ahead and leave now, y'all. I'm not wanting to get embarrassed.
I don't get embarrassed. But I was embarrassed because all
the people in the apartment community, they was coming out there.
(01:27:42):
I ain't like none of that. I get all my
stuff out that apartment, put it all in my truck.
I don't even have nowhere to go, but I went
where they say you can always go home. So I
drove over to my mama and my daddy house. The
(01:28:03):
pastor and the first lady. Surely they will have a
word at a time such as this. I get in
the house, I tell my mamma and my daddy what happened.
Here goes my daddy. Oh this boy that got kicked
(01:28:25):
out his own house by his old lady. I said,
what kind of pastor are you? Then my daddy tell me, hey,
you can stay here tonight. But yeah, that's your wife
you picked up. This ain't no resk haven over here,
so you can stay here tonight. But then, yeah, you
(01:28:45):
need to get yourself together. But I had already determined
in my mind I'm done. I'm getting divorce. Yeah, I'm
through with this here. Plus, you know, I'm a Christian.
I know how to fix stuff up for me. I
was like, this the Lord's doing He's making a way
for an extent for me.
Speaker 20 (01:29:07):
Yeah, yeah, now I do it.
Speaker 1 (01:29:10):
So I'm living pillar of the posts, living pill of
the post until I got me an apartment. We were
separated for six months. During that six month stint, though,
I get a phone call from Beet Black Entertainment Television.
They call and they say, hey, man, we want to
feature you as one of the top five clean comedians
(01:29:34):
in the country at this time. Okay, thank you. At
this time I'm not even good though, I'm not, but
(01:29:55):
I've been in church all my life and they talk
about this thing called favor. So when you get it,
stop acting like you don't deserve it. Yeah. So I
told the people at BT I'll be there. They filmed
it at this hotel in Miami called the Eating Rock Hotel.
I don't know if y'all ever been to Miami, but Miami,
(01:30:17):
the women there are naked and unashamed, and they're not
even trying to be provocative. That's just stay way of life.
And so I get down to Miami and I filmed
the little show I do my sitting. I had a
good set, and that night after the show, they had
what we called today like bottle girls, bottle service girls,
(01:30:39):
and they were there with the terry cloth little shorts
or the little tube top heels, the trays with the
coconut drinks on them. And after my show, I was
just sitting on the couch and they just kept coming
up to me. Ooh, Poppy, Poppy, you were so so
(01:31:00):
funny tonight popping. And I couldn't even enjoy it because
I'm thinking, the only person who will understand the magnitude
(01:31:22):
of this moment is not here. I've been Pillar talking
for five years, telling her stick with me. I ain't gone.
It's gonna pop for us, and now it's popping, and
she not here. I couldn't even enjoy the coconuts. My
(01:31:57):
manager was like, call your wife. I said, the devil
lit a lie girl kicked me out that apartment. Next day,
I get on the flight on my way back to Houston,
and this is when God shows up. I knew he
was coming. That's why I was trying to hurry up
(01:32:21):
and get the divorce, because I knew he was gonna
show up. My cousin, Reggie, was my lawyer. He been
married and divorced twice. I hired him because he knew
how to do it. But he fumbling my paperwork. So
(01:32:48):
I'm on a flight back to Houston, and I remember vividly,
this is what God said. God said, my God, let
me get this straight. Oh y'all think he talked like
my child. That's how y'all think. That's why you're miss hearing.
(01:33:08):
He says, my God, let me get this straight. So
you're getting ready to divorce this girl because she do
a few things you don't like. Yet I have not
divorced you, and you do a plethora of things I
(01:33:31):
don't like. Not only have I not divorced you, I
haven't even exposed you. The plane land, I jump in
my truck. I drive straight to arak apartment because it's
(01:33:56):
her apartment. And let me say this, stop feeling bad
for women, because you know that's what people like. Oh,
I feel so bad for her. She's not feeling bad
for women because Erica was having the time of her life,
(01:34:23):
the time of life, right. So I just pop up
over there. She answered the door. She I said, look here,
we got to get back to Canther. She's like, why
I said, we gotta get back together? Because God has spoken.
(01:34:43):
Let the church.
Speaker 16 (01:34:45):
Hen you fuckingn't. The best.
Speaker 17 (01:34:52):
Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every
word that proceeded out of the mouth of God. It's
time to bring on the word with the preacher of
the week, and keep in locked right here to the
me and miss Jones show with me.
Speaker 19 (01:35:09):
Doctor Miss Jones was.
Speaker 11 (01:35:12):
Saying to a young man, before I formed THEE in
the belly, I knew THEE, or I ordained THEE, and
I sanctified THEE to be a prophet to the nations.
And when I woke that morning, I just took my
Bible with childlike faith and just let it fall open.
And it fell open on Jeremiah, and he said, before
(01:35:34):
I formed THEE in the belly, I knew THEE, and
I ordained THEE, and I sanctified THEE to be a
prophet unto the nations. And all of a sudden I
remembered all the stories my mother told me about when
I was born. I was born with a veil over
my face, and that one of the neighbors came down
and said, look, the Lord it's given you a prophet.
(01:35:58):
And Mama said a prophet. She said, hey, he has
a veil over his face. Then membrane going over some
babies faces.
Speaker 1 (01:36:04):
I was one of them.
Speaker 11 (01:36:07):
That membrane, the old folks said, was a sign you
were a prophet. But I didn't know I was a prophet.
So I was a wild, crazy, foolish, ignorant, rambucxious kid
who got into everything and anything all the time, driving
people crazy. And I was having a good time doing
my own thing until God came along and messed it
(01:36:27):
all up by bringing this stuff again here about me
being a preacher, and I ran from my caller. I
purposely got drunk and went wild and got high and
partied and did everything I could to convince him to
go away. Get one of them people with the little
(01:36:49):
doillings on their head and the long skirts on and
an old makeup who pray all day and talk in
tones all the time, and leave me alone, because I
am not one of them. I'm crazy, I'm ignored, I'm wow,
I'm uncouth. I will embarrass you, I will disgrace you.
Please don't call me. This is not gonna be good
for you, and it's not gonna be good for me,
and we should not do this together. But God didn't
(01:37:14):
ask me to vote. He asked me to obey. And
after several years are running, and after several years of
going in clubs and sitting on barstools where one drunk
would lean over to me and say, funny, man, I
had the crazy dream about you. I dreamed you with
preaching in this church. And I got up and ran
(01:37:35):
out of the club. And I felt like, David, if
I make my bed in health, are there. And if
I take the wings of the morning and I send
to the other most parts of the earth are there.
And I'm not gonna be able to outrun this. And
I couldn't understand that God wouldn't let me go. I
couldn't understand why God picked me. If I get to
(01:37:55):
heaven and we're only allowed one question a piece, I
simply want to know, why did you call me? A
boy from the hills of West Virginia, the son of
vagianitor and a school teacher. Why did you call me?
And I had lots of excuses, like Moses, I had
(01:38:15):
a speech impediment. You can't call me. You can't call me.
I didn't stutter, But I had a list. I can't
be a speaker because I have a list. But all
of us have areas where we feel inadequate. And if
you don't, you're disqualified because humility is framed from feeling inadequate.
(01:38:42):
When you say I am not enough, it makes you
pray harder, it makes you seek harder, it makes you
ask for more grace. Beware of all the people who
tell you they are enough. It's a sure sign that
(01:39:04):
you're dealing with a fraud because the questions the world
is asking are too complicated for you to answer with
a degree. The problems people are having now require divine intervention,
and you have to have somebody who has heard from God,
(01:39:27):
not from themselves. So it doesn't matter in my weakness.
He's made strong in my weakness. His strength is validated,
so he chooses fragile, broken, limited people. So you won't
be confused where the ointment comes from. You know that
(01:39:49):
the glory that we have is not of ourselves, but
Christ Jesus, the Lord that has given us the glory,
and it's Him coming out of us. It's not our
talent coming out of it, our skill coming out of it.
It is Him coming out both to do and to
will according to his own good pleasure. That's the facts.
(01:40:09):
And what makes God all the more real is recognizing
that he can work with such poor material, that he
can be so masterful, as Michael Angelo, to paint the
Sistine Chapel with a broken brush. And I am the brush,
(01:40:30):
and you are the brush, and you are the brush,
and you are the brush. And he chooses broken brushes
so that there will be no glory to the brush,
only to the artist. When the master, the Master Gittner
(01:40:52):
plans to transplant you, arguing, will not stop it. He
will not let you go until he's moved you to
the place that he has prepared for you, and you
for it, and placing you in that place, you begin
to grow, and you will know you're in the place when,
(01:41:16):
like Joseph, your branches reach over walls. When God plants you,
your branches reach over every denominational, racial, generational wall that
ever stood.
Speaker 20 (01:41:36):
And I believe He wanted you to hear this at
this moment.
Speaker 11 (01:41:42):
In your life. Imagine being in the wilderness, miles and
miles of sand, hot courching hot sand beneath your feet,
the blazing sun above your head. Imagine walking and seeing
(01:42:03):
nothing but repetitions of what you're walking on, not just
on the ground, but in the wind, in your nostrils,
in your clothing, all around you. This was the wilderness
that Israel through to get through the promised land. Sand
(01:42:25):
under your feet, sand in your nostrils, in your hair,
heat in the day, freezing cold at night. The only
covering they had with the presence of God, and they
(01:42:45):
had to stay up under it because He gave them
heat in the night and shade by day. Thank you
for the shade you gave me. Thank you for how
you put a buffer between me and the things that
I went through. And in the middle of the desert
(01:43:07):
with the twelve tribes of Israel, God decided to have
a date with Man. And he decided to have a
date in a tabernacle. And the Hebrew word for tabernacle
is ohelmohead. It means a tent of meeting. It's a
rendezvous place. It's a place where a divinity courts humanity.
(01:43:32):
It's a place where the celestial dates the terrestrial. It's
a place where the divine touches the mundane. This was
the Tabernacle. It is God playing etcher sketch drawing Jesus
(01:43:52):
in the tabernacle. Because everything the Tabernacle was in shadow,
Jesus was in reality. He is a place where humanity
and divinity cohabitate. He is a place where the celestial
touches the terrestrial. He is everything that the Tabernacle embodies.
He is triune in his being, the outer court that
(01:44:13):
intercurt the holies of holies like man, body, soul, and spirit,
like God, father, son, and the Holy Ghost. God shows
us in the Tabernacle glimpses of his grace, just inklings
of grace, just drops and clues and elements for us
to see how bad he wants to hang out with us.
(01:44:35):
He preps us for thousands of years because the Tabernacle
is a shadow of Jesus, and he's trying to get
us ready for his entrance. Because everything the Tabernacle was
in the wilderness, It was surrounded by the twelve tribes
of Israel, and He was the one who sat in
the midst of his people, and everything the Tabernacle was
(01:44:57):
in the wilderness, Christ was in reality. That's why when
the baby was born they called him Immanuel. God tabernacled
with us. He is a dwell amongst us, God, not
the dwell among you. God, you can't have him and
restrict me from getting him. The Tabernacle was designed so
that each tribe was able to have access to him,
(01:45:20):
whether you were Benjamin or Isacar, or Dan or Goad
or Judah or Naphthali, we all had equal access to
God in the same way. God has so fixed himself
that no particular people can restrict any other group of
people from being able to access him.
Speaker 1 (01:45:39):
He is a dweller amongst us God.
Speaker 11 (01:45:42):
It is this understanding of God that makes us realize
how far He would go to date you, from glory
to earth, from eternity to time, from lests you to
ter rest you. The Divine came upon Mary and said,
(01:46:06):
let me borrow a tent of flesh, so you can
see me walk. So the voice of the Lord that
walked through the cool of the garden in the Book
of Genesis didn't have a tent to wear. But the
voice of the Lord that walked in Matthew, Mark, Luke
and John was dressed up in the tent of Mary's flesh.
Speaker 4 (01:46:27):
And he is the.
Speaker 11 (01:46:28):
Tabernacle because he is the dwell amongst us God. And
he dwelt among us, and we beheld the wonder of
his glovery, the only begotten of the Father, full of
grace and truth. And everywhere his feet trod we had
seen God. Philip said, show us a father, and it's sufficer.
And Jesus said, have I been so long time with
(01:46:50):
you and you still don't know that I and my
Father are one. I am God, dwelling amongst you, in
the midst of you, in your can so I can
hang out with you, so that you can get to
know my Daddy, so that you can see me, so
that you can understand me. In fact, I am Daddy
loving you. God is loving you through me, touching you
(01:47:13):
through me, healing you through me, coming to you through me.
Speaker 1 (01:47:18):
I am so much Him that when.
Speaker 11 (01:47:22):
They ripped my flesh, the veil in the temple will ripped,
because we are one and the same. I am the
holies of holies. I am the ark of the Covenant.
I am the table of shoe bread. I am the
altar of incense. I am the pot of manner. I
am Aaron's rod, that buddy. I am the commandments fulfilled.
(01:47:43):
I am wood enough to be human, I am gold
enough to be divine. I am carried amongst my people.
I am God all by myself. The table had been set,
the water drone, the hands washed, the meal prepared, the
(01:48:06):
evening set in order. It was not unique or different
or strange or odd or fresh. It was to passover
as it had been observed for years and years and years,
commemorating the Lamb that was slain in Egypt. It was
not any different from any other passover until Jesus sat
(01:48:32):
down at the table and took us from the ancient
blood of an lamb that was sacrifice for Israel to
saying it is no longer about the Lamb. It is
now about Me. And passover slid over into communion, and
(01:48:57):
law collapsed on grace, and dispensations collided together, all at
the dining table of the Master what we would call
the Last Supper. Oh, and there will never be another
supper like that, suffer, because his supper stands in the
class all by itself. It is not just a change,
(01:49:19):
It is a paradigm shift. The physical body of Jesus
Christ sits down at the table to serve the memorial
body of Christ. For the elements are the memorial body
of Christ. As often as you do this in remembrance
of Me till I come. So the bread and the
(01:49:41):
wine is the memorial body of Christ being served by
the physical body of Christ being served to the mystical
Body of Christ, which is the Church, whose blessed hope
is to have the glorified body of Christ. So at
(01:50:02):
the table we see four representations of one body. Is
he the body or the body? Or the body?
Speaker 1 (01:50:12):
What the body?
Speaker 11 (01:50:15):
No wonder? He told Moses, who shall I say sent
to me? He said, oh, you can't explain me. I
must be revealed. You can't explain me, because to the unbeliever,
all they will see is bread and wine, and they
will not know that this is a new testament in
my blood. They will not know that the blood, that
(01:50:35):
the wine is my blood, and the bread is my body.
They will not know that when they ingest the wine
and the blood, they are taking in me, and that
each one of them will hold a portion of the
mystery that only brings the bread together through their unity,
that is the mystical body of Christ. And that is
(01:50:57):
why I say, then, hates for the Church to be united,
because when we all come together, and your peace comes
together with my peace and his peace, and her piece
and their piece, and we all connect, we become the
loaf and become one again. Father, I pray that these
may be one, even as you and I are also one.
Let's sit down at the table and see Jesus, because
(01:51:18):
there are some things about Jesus that cannot be learned
from the pulpit. They can only be discovered at the table.
At the table, the mystical body of Christ, which is
the Church, beheld, the memorial body of Christ being fed
to them from the physical body of Christ, awaiting the
glorified body of Christ at the table. Later, when Jesus
(01:51:41):
will be crucified and raised from the dead, he will
meet two disciples on the road to Immaeus, and he
will talk to them in a seven mile stretch and
use all of the Old Testament in seven miles.
Speaker 1 (01:51:53):
That's a short walk for a big book.
Speaker 11 (01:51:56):
He discussed every shadow and every type that represented him,
and when he had come to where they would depart,
he made as if he would go further. He didn't
go further. He just acted like he would because God
is an actor, like as a mighty rushing wind, like
(01:52:19):
as clothing tongues. Holy Spirit descended like as a dove.
God is an actor. And he made as if he
would go on. Yes he did, but they stopped him.
And something that they did not learn from looking at
his face or the stains in his clothing, or the
(01:52:43):
holes in his hands, or the piercing in his eye.
And something that they did not learn from his preaching
and teaching, now that seven miles stretch, they learned at
the table when they sat at the table with him
on the road to Himaeus, can I go deeper when
they sat down with Jesus. That's why you have to
(01:53:04):
sit down with Jesus. It can't just be a Sunday
morning experience. You have to sit down with Jesus. You
have to sup with him. You have to connect with them.
When they sat down with Jesus, he did a simple
thing in their midst that was more profound than anything
he did on the road. He did more at the
table than he did at the road, because God always
performs miracles at the table. And he sat down at
(01:53:27):
the table, and the Bible said, he took the bread
and broke it and blessed it and gave it to them.
And they saw him in the order of the breaking
of bread. It is the same phrase that we see
at the Last Supper. He took it and blessed it,
and broke it and gave it to them. It is
(01:53:49):
the same phrase that we see with the five thousand
when the little boy gave him the lunch, he took
it and blessed it, and broke it and gave it
to them. It is the same thing that is happening
in your life. He takes you and blesses you, and
breaks you and gives.
Speaker 1 (01:54:04):
You to the world.
Speaker 11 (01:54:06):
You cannot be given to the world until you've been
taken by the Master, blessed by God, broken by life,
and then given to the world. And the more he
takes you and blesses you and breaks you, the more
he multiplies you so that you can meet the needs
you couldn't meet before. Because the multiplication is in the breaking.
(01:54:27):
It's not in the blessing. It's in the breaking. And
if God didn't break you, he couldn't give you to them.
But every time he breaks you, he multiplies you and
increases you, and you become a.
Speaker 20 (01:54:39):
Little bit more than what you were before.
Speaker 11 (01:54:42):
Because you were in the Master's hands and he took
you and he blessed you, and he broke you, and
he gave you to them. Ge.
