Hey y'all, Happy Sunday, Happy Palm Sunday. It is the
beginning of Holy Week. Will you're tuned into the Me
and Miss Jones Show. I'm your host, doctor Miss Jones. Well,
I hope that you've been having a great week. I
(04:41):
know that I have been. Last Sunday when I left
you all, I got a chance to record with nine
two five Live. They have a podcast, so that will
be coming out soon. I will keep you all posted.
Shout out to my hosts Mandy roverson Friend of the Show,
(05:04):
Uncle Rich and Joy. We had a good time. Shout
out to moms for hanging out. And this week I
did some shopping, no clothes or anything. I was buying
some DJ speakers. Now that's right, I got some gigs
coming up. Don't play with me. So first I had
(05:25):
bought some regular speakers that you know, you stick up
on the stick. I was like, all right, he's a
little bit too heavy. I am a girl still, I
had to take them joints back. I was like, no,
ain't nobody trying to get a hernia over here. So
it's a sister. Got some column speakers, so they're supposed.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
To be coming today.
Speaker 13 (05:47):
See what those are like. So I'll keep y'all posted
on that. And last night I hung out with my
homeboy DJ Box at the Green Lounge. We had a
good time over there. Out to him that was in Paramus,
New Jersey. Shout out to the owner Janet. Shout out
to Moms and Tanya for hanging out as well. We
(06:08):
had a good time. But we have an amazing show today.
We have a lot of special guests coming on today.
We have Lde coming on with the words of Inspiration
as well as some new music. We also have from
dev Comedy Jim and all kind of other shows. We
got Bill Bellamy coming on, y'all. We excited about that.
(06:32):
He's gonna share his journey. He's gonna share his journey
and help me spill some tea. You know, we got
that holy tea around here. We also have CEO of
T Breese Entertainment, Terrence Thomas. He's gonna come on share
his journey. That's Bill's manager. And we also have author
(06:53):
Docta Valerie Williams Sanchez. She's gonna come on share her journey.
She's got some books that she gonna tell us about
so I want to give a shout out to everybody
that's in the clubhouse, of course, Moms, Donovan and Paul
all the way from thea Ganza. Well, you know how
we call it today. We call our lineup Sunday Best.
So I always like to start the show with some
(07:14):
music from some of the BET Sunday Best winners, judges
and hosts. We started it all off with some new music.
Oh man. We started off some new music with the
winner of Sunday Best, miss Leandrea Johnson. You know she
sings gospel, right, she was the winner of Sunday Best.
But when I downloaded her new music it said R
(07:34):
and B. I would say, wait a minute, R and
B is my girl changing genres? You know, she has
some problems with the church. She had problems with drinking
and stuff like that, and so you know, she kind
of I don't know if I want to say blackballed
or whatever. She got plenty of fans and stuff, but
I don't know, she has some issues, so I don't
know if she changes genres y'all. She got another song
(07:55):
out with Jamie Foxx. I'm like, this definitely don't sound
like gospel, sound like some love music. I said, Oh God,
we don't want to lose you. Get back over here
to this gospel. Now we need your girl, We love you.
Speaker 11 (08:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 13 (08:10):
So this song was called don't sleep on Me. She's like,
I'm still here, don't play with me. So next up
is one of the judges. Miss Kikey shared her mama,
Karen Clark Shard and her cousin j Mars. The song
is called good Day because we're gonna have a good
day today. Yes we are, so, y'all keep it right
here to me and miss Jones show with me, doctor,
(08:32):
Miss Jones, make up.
Speaker 14 (09:03):
In your mind to take over your life, but choose
to be success forms. Do folks trying to get your hair,
(09:45):
trying to make you some miss leave, don't give a
man control.

sweet the fees being your mind.
Speaker 14 (10:09):
You retweet the lines.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
Choose successful.
Speaker 3 (10:25):

Speaker 2 (10:46):

Speaker 6 (12:29):
Getting paid for working is what keeps us afloat.
Speaker 16 (12:32):
So what happens when you're sick or hurt and can't
work for weeks at a time, how will you pay
your bills and keep yourself.
Speaker 6 (12:39):
And your family afloat until you can work again. You
probably already ensure your car and home. What about your income?
Speaker 16 (12:47):
Income Protector is a disability insurance policy that will blow
you up to five thousand dollars per month if you're
totally disabled and not able to work due to an
accident or injury. That is the kind of protection that
will help you weather any store. And while you're disabled,
you don't have to pay premaps, and you can also
increase the benefit on two separate option dates.
Speaker 6 (13:09):
And your policy is guaranteed renewable until you're sixty five.
Speaker 16 (13:14):
The benefits are paid for up to two years, and
you are in cover whether it's an accident or sickness
on or off the job.
Speaker 6 (13:22):
Twenty four to seven.
Speaker 16 (13:25):
Combined Insurance has been protecting families and paying claims for.
Speaker 6 (13:29):
Nearly one hundred years.
Speaker 16 (13:30):
And talk to a Combined insurance agent about Income Protector
and keep you and your family Salem.
Speaker 13 (13:53):
Yeah know what time it is? His birthday?
Speaker 2 (13:56):

Speaker 13 (13:57):

people that are having birthdays this week. But first I
want to shout out the sponsor, Combine Insurance. You just

You Hey, y'all want to know where you can find
the best urban inspirational music only on the Me and
Miss Jones Show. All right, it is time to bring
(22:31):
on the Man of God. If you are in the
clubhouse and you have a prayer request, go ahead and
put it in the chat so that the Man of
God can pray for you. So he is a pastor,
he's also a songwriter and a gospel recording artist. I
(22:52):
want y'all to welcome Elder Kenny Easton aka Elder e Hey.
Speaker 22 (23:01):
Yes, Yes, thank you, thank you hello, and I thank
you doctor or Miss Jones to have me on the
Sugar today.
Speaker 4 (23:08):
And also I'm the people start off to build out
Alexandle a.
Speaker 22 (23:13):
Promoter from Team Changer Productions, for making this connection.
Speaker 13 (23:17):
Yes, yes, thank you so much for coming on Happy
Palm Sunday.
Speaker 11 (23:22):
Yes at Palm Sunday.
Speaker 13 (23:25):
Yes, the beginning of Holy Week, We're gonna go ahead
and get right to the words of inspiration. I always
like to make sure people get that good word in
because a lot of people don't really go back into
the church building now. They love, you know, hearing the
word on you know, zoom YouTube, the radio, TV. So
I try to make it where they can get some
(23:45):
word in for the week. So what has God put
on your heart for the people for Palm Sunday?
Speaker 22 (23:50):
Stop putting out on the backburn back burner means to
put something aside and not giving any attention, you know,
like a burner on the show that's not.
Speaker 23 (24:00):
Currently being used.
Speaker 22 (24:03):
And so putting God on the backburner implies that someone
is not devoting enough time or focused you know, to God,
and it's.
Speaker 4 (24:12):
Letting their connection with God slide to the bottom.
Speaker 22 (24:16):
And so when we put things on the back burner,
they get overlooked and it can be forgotten. The same
thing can happen with our relationship with God. We get
super busy and He has moved to the backburner and
where you know, and then we're like, you know, in
my past, I used to play church, and that means
(24:38):
that I went to church when I felt like it.
Speaker 4 (24:40):
I went to church when it was just you know,
Palm Sunday or Eastern Sunday.
Speaker 22 (24:47):
You know, I just I was playing church until I
decided to have a serious relationship with God stopped putting
them on.
Speaker 4 (24:55):
The back burner. Was when my life really began to change.
Speaker 13 (25:00):
Yes, and so.
Speaker 4 (25:03):
You know, my question to the people out.
Speaker 22 (25:05):
There today, to our listeners to day, is what have
you allowed in your life to take the place of
God in your life?
Speaker 13 (25:14):
Amen?
Speaker 22 (25:15):
It's easy to get caught up in this life and
put God on the back burner while we're focused on work, school, family,
you know, family issues, that we're focused on our finances, money,
But the things we often feel to realize is that
we're allowing these things to trump the one who blessed
(25:37):
us with them in the first place. God, He blesses
us with everything. Yeah, you know, he blesses us with
all we have is because of God?
Speaker 11 (25:48):
Why?
Speaker 4 (25:48):
Because He loves us and he wants us to focus
on him.
Speaker 13 (25:53):
Amen. Amen. By the people only go to church Eastern Christmas,
I'm mad too, but yes, so we definitely got to
get ourselves together and put God as more of a
priority instead of ooh, you know, just those two holidays
or when we need him. So thank you so much
for that good word. So I and God says all
(26:17):
the time, not saying a man, heymen, So I want
you to pray. I do have some prayer requests. If
you are in the chat and you would like the
preacher to pray for you, of course put it in
the chat. But I do have a few prayer requests.
So actress, and I want to make sure I say
her name right, GABORI Sibide. Her mom passed away recently.
(26:39):
She was seventy two years old. She's known for singing
on America's God Talent. So definitely want to pray that
she knew Jesus and you know, pray for the comfort
of her family. I also want to pray because there
was a helicopter crash this week, and the helicopter crash
in the Hudson River that's right here in New York,
(27:02):
and we want to pray for those people and their families.
Six people passed away. It was a husband, a wife,
their three kids, and the pilot. They all passed away.
They were celebrating a birthday. The father was actually the
president of the Spanish branch of seamens. So during the
(27:23):
investigation they found out that there was a critical fuel shortage.
The pilot. Whatever they do on the controls, they let
them know that there was a fuel shortage and that
they would be landing in three minutes, and twenty minutes
later they still weren't there, so I don't know if
there was some foul play involved. Also, the main water
blades were not on the helicopter, so I don't know
(27:46):
if they hit something, a bird hit.
Speaker 2 (27:48):
Them, whatever.
Speaker 13 (27:49):
But hopefully they will get to the bottom of it.
But of course we pray again that they knew Jesus
and pray for the comfort of their family. Of course,
I want you to pray for the show that me
and Miss Jones show and all the listeners are going
to the Chad Bishop Banks wants you to pray for
all the families suffering from depression and oppression and of
course anything else that guy has put on your heart
to pray about.
Speaker 4 (28:09):
Father, Thank you Lord for this day. On today, God,
we pray for all the families out there.
Speaker 22 (28:15):
On today, God, we pray for this you know, Palm
Sunday or resurrections Sunday coming up.
Speaker 4 (28:22):
Father God, that you will continue to look over us,
Look over our families.
Speaker 22 (28:26):
Lord, look over of the people of the world. Today,
look over the homeless. God, look over of those who
don't have anywhere to live. God, today, look over the
fatherless children. On today, God look over you know, the
people who are lost, the unbelievers, those who are out
there are confused.
Speaker 4 (28:46):
Oh God, we ask you God to make a way
out of no way on.
Speaker 22 (28:50):
Today, as we continue to live our lives, we ask
for your blessings, Father, God over our families on today. God,
help us to seek you more, stop put you on
the backburn the Lord, help us and teach.
Speaker 4 (29:03):
Us your ways.
Speaker 22 (29:04):
God, help us to look to you and trust you
more and all that we do. And again God, we
pray over your iHeart Radio and doctor miss Jones. We
thank you for this interview on today and thank you
for your many blessings and the opportunity just to do this.
Speaker 4 (29:21):
God, to spread your world.
Speaker 22 (29:23):
God, to keep to be a light in the dark
in this dark world, and we don't take it for granted.
We give you all the praise, honor, and the glory
and Jesus Marty name, we pray, Amen.
Speaker 13 (29:36):
Amen, Amen, thank you so much for that anoints at prayer,
so switching gears. You are also a recording artist and
you have been recording for years. You actually used to
sing R and B with a group called Pure Pleasure
and you share the stage with The Force, MD's, Blue
(29:58):
Magic and more. So tell us a little bit about
your background, how you got interested in music.
Speaker 22 (30:05):
And yes, you know, just growing up in a projects
in Patterson, the Christopher Columbus Projects, Patterson, New Jersey, shout
out to them.
Speaker 4 (30:17):
And I'm growing up in a family of nine.
Speaker 22 (30:19):
Sisters and brothers, and so my older brothers and sisters,
you know, they sang in various groups, and you know,
we sanged around the house and my mother, my father,
So that's where it all began. And so around the
early nineties, me and my brother got together, we decided
(30:41):
to start a group and it was called Pure Pleasure.
And from there we recorded about four songs, original songs,
and then you know, we would.
Speaker 4 (30:54):
Go out and perform them.
Speaker 22 (30:55):
So, yeah, our biggest one of our biggest shows is
with the Force in D's and Blue Magic also a diva.
She was from Patterson and so that was one of
our baby shows in Patterson that they had at.
Speaker 24 (31:11):
The local Bingal Hall with us being a part of
that great concert.
Speaker 13 (31:18):
Okay, dopeness. So you have a new project out now
and you worked with Grammy nominated Chanelle Read. She helps
you with the writing and producing. So it's a five
song EP called Lord, I Need You so tell us
about the project.
Speaker 24 (31:40):
And yes, and so you know, I've been serving the
Lord for twenty four years, you know, so when I
turned around, I loved singing and writing over the years.
Speaker 4 (31:54):
So now it's twenty twenty three, I'm sixty three, and
I'm asking the Lord what you want me to do
with this gift?
Speaker 11 (32:01):
In other words, where do I go from here with it?
Speaker 4 (32:04):
Because you know, nothing was really going on.
Speaker 22 (32:07):
I just would, you know, do some recording here and there.
You know, financially I couldn't afford it. And then God
showed me. One day He gave me a Proverbs he
five and six. He said, you're you're not trusting You
don't trust me enough, elder, and that's what the problem is,
You're not trusting me fully. And so I start, you know,
(32:32):
standing on that word and acknowledging God and everything like
he says, and he says, he will direct your path.
And so one day a couple of weeks after that,
I'm looking and scrolling through Facebook and I see a
songwriter you know, production camp and they were charging two
(32:56):
hundred and fifty.
Speaker 4 (32:57):
Dollars to be involved with his camp and so long.
Speaker 22 (33:01):
At first I wasn't going to do it, but the
Lord spoke to me and said, you know, go, that's
all I heard, A small voice said go. So I
go to this songwriter production camp in Patterson, and when
I get there, it's only one other person there. So
now I'm getting discouraged because you know, I'm looking for
(33:24):
people to be there. And so I asked God, I'm
questioning God again, It's just what you want me to do.
It's just where I'm supposed to be. And so lo
and behold. The person that was teaching the class was
five time Grammy nominated songwriter producer.
Speaker 4 (33:45):
She now read was also from Patterson. But you know
she's no worldwide, and you know, I approached her.
Speaker 22 (33:55):
And asked her, you know, would she you know, work
with me on the project. And so we and that's
where it started. I signed like a fourth song production
deal with her. She co wrote, she produced it, and
in the title of the album. Again, Yes, Lord, I
(34:15):
need you today.
Speaker 13 (34:17):
Nice. All right, We're gonna go ahead and play one
of your songs. This is called My Everything. All right.
Did you want to say anything about the song?
Speaker 4 (34:27):
Yes, and again I actually wrote rewrote this song because
it's from one of my favorite R and B groups
back in today surface.
Speaker 13 (34:38):
Oh, I knew that beat was from something. I said,
this is a remake of something, okay, yeah, So.
Speaker 22 (34:46):
They were one of my favorite arm B groups, Bastion eight.
I'm hearing the song by then, I'm a minister, and
so it just touched me because now instead of think
about a woman being my everything, God, you know.
Speaker 4 (35:04):
Jesus is my everything now.
Speaker 13 (35:07):
And so that's the.
Speaker 4 (35:08):

and us just trusting Him even at sixty three, sixty

Speaker 13 (35:21):

now read, I was like, can we do this song here?
Speaker 11 (35:30):

Speaker 4 (35:31):
Wrote it in two thousand and eight.
Speaker 11 (35:33):
Can we put this out?
Speaker 22 (35:35):

with this song. I got permissions of all the people
out there.
Speaker 4 (35:43):
You got to get promissed. You have to pay, you know,
and you know we did everything in that excellence.
Speaker 13 (35:51):

Speaker 13 (47:09):
Oh, thank you so much. Happy Palm Sunday.
Speaker 4 (47:13):
Yes, thank you.
Speaker 6 (47:15):
So.
Speaker 13 (47:15):
I always like to tell everybody where I meet my guests.
So we met on Instagram. You invited me to your
AKA events, so thank you for that, and we have
stayed in touch ever since. Absolutely, and it's been wonderful.
Speaker 25 (47:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 17 (47:31):
Yeah, And you know, we do a lot in the community,
so it's great to be able to have a partner
like you to kind of share that word read that
word and be in communication with with everyone.
Speaker 13 (47:41):
Yes, and thank you for everything that you all do
for the community. So you have a PhD in literacy,
that is true. Yes, congratulations on that. And you're also
the owner of Coco Kids Books Arena Publishing.
Speaker 17 (48:02):
Absolutely, and I'll take you through it quickly because yeah
go on time. So yes, my name is doctor Valerie
william Sanchez. I have a PhD in literacy. I also
am the owner, founder, and CEO of Valerena Online and
Valerina Publishing. Through my publishing company, I publish picture books
for children and that series is called the Cocoa Kids
(48:26):
Collection Books.
Speaker 11 (48:28):
My books put kids.
Speaker 17 (48:30):
Center stage in stories about social emotional learning, body image
and stem so science, technology, engineering, and math.
Speaker 11 (48:39):
My characters are all.
Speaker 17 (48:40):
Multicultural and based on my actual kids, my daughter, my
nephew and loved ones. So I tell stories that help
kids learn about their feelings and articulate their feelings, feel
body confident, and really focus in on their science, technology
and maths.
Speaker 13 (49:00):
I love that. So I love the name first of all,
Coco Kids because I was like, okay, that already is
like I write, I know it's black. Oh yeah the kill.
Speaker 17 (49:12):
Yeah that quickly that came about as a result of
some research I did about black and brown children in
the Cocoa Belt, which is the area in the world
where Coco's produced, and that's where the majority of our people.
Speaker 13 (49:26):
Really come from.
Speaker 17 (49:27):
And so leaning in on that history and looking forward,
knowing that education and reading is so important for all
of us, it became a natural kind of scene. And
then again my love of chocolate and interaction with my
family members gave me more opportunity and reason to call
the Coco kids out.
Speaker 11 (49:45):
As as you know, as they are today.
Speaker 13 (49:48):
Yes, so I want to give you congratulations because you
have been in literacy education for ten years now, right.
Speaker 12 (49:56):
Yeah, yeah, Yeah.
Speaker 17 (49:58):
The second Edition books, which is what we're promoting and
published you know, recently kind of in the works, is
a result of a ten year journey that I started
back in twenty thirteen. You know, I was a writer,
a former journalist, someone who always was involved with letters
and science, who decided to take it further and in
(50:19):
doing so over the past ten years, it's been an
amazing journey that started with I mean, following a whim
to write that book. I'm sure many out there are
listening have had that same thought I want to write
a kid's book.
Speaker 13 (50:31):
Well I did, and this is the journey that ensued.
Speaker 17 (50:34):
I'm happy to say I'm just back from the World
Literacy Summit, where I met literally people from all over
the world, including Black authors Matter, group of adult writers
and readers who are all putting literacy into practice.
Speaker 13 (50:49):
I love that Black authors matter. Okay, now, so your
books are for kids ages sixty eight, and I know
you use that hashtag all kids need Books. So do
you find that a lot of kids don't have books
at home?
Speaker 22 (51:06):
Yeah?
Speaker 17 (51:07):
The hashtag all Kids Need Books really came about from
my original research, and that was what kind of got
me into the literacy education space. I mentioned I wrote
the children's book as a whim is something I, you know,
in my bucket list of things that I wanted to do.
Speaker 13 (51:22):
But when I started doing my research on how to
sell to people, I realized.
Speaker 17 (51:26):
That African Americans in particular in this country have among
the lowest literacy rates. We're the low you know, the
among the lowest level readers. And so that was really
what spurned me to realize that we need to do better.
And when I looked further, I found out one of
the reasons.
Speaker 11 (51:43):
We didn't do better was because we weren't in books.
Speaker 17 (51:46):
And that's when I realized that all kids need books,
not just one group, but everybody. And so again this
launched me on this journey that I've now been on
for plus ten years.
Speaker 13 (51:58):
Yes, well, shout out the names of your books.
Speaker 11 (52:01):
Sure.
Speaker 17 (52:02):
The first is Isaiah and the Chocolate Mountain. That's Isaiah's
my nephew, who, by the way, is graduating from high.
Speaker 13 (52:07):
School this year, so shout out Adiah.
Speaker 17 (52:10):
The second book is Lorena and the Magic Mocha Mirror.
Speaker 4 (52:13):
That's a shout out to my daughter, who I wanted
to ask for prayers.
Speaker 17 (52:16):
She's a world traveler on her way home from a
trip to Vietnam, so we're wishing for safe wishing and
praying for fifth passes for she and her husband. And
the last is Eddie and the Hot Cocoa hot Rod,
which is an imagining of my fiancee, Edwin Richardson and
his passion for driving and sports cars and all that
he taught me about f one, including introducing me to
(52:37):
Sir Lewis Hamilton and the dynamic kind of person in
the achievements that he's achieved.
Speaker 4 (52:43):
So yeah, those are my three books.
Speaker 13 (52:44):
I've got a first edition, which you know, was what I.
Speaker 17 (52:48):
Originally published back in twenty thirteen, and this new commemorative
tenth anniversary second edition.
Speaker 4 (52:56):
I love it.
Speaker 13 (52:56):
I love it that you surround everything about your family
in the experiences.
Speaker 11 (53:01):
That you all have.
Speaker 17 (53:02):
Our family stories are what fortify us as Black Americans
in particular. We get our strength from what we get
at home and those sustaining stories that we tell our
kids and share amongst ourselves at picnics at holidays. That's
what really helps us get through it, make it through
our faith, our family, and so these folks really pay
(53:23):
homage and honor that tradition.
Speaker 13 (53:25):
I love that your kids will remember that forever. It's like, oh,
I'm in this book, and actually exactly so. Your company,
Vallerina Publishing in the Coco Kiss Collections have a scholarship.
So tell us a little bit about that, and is
it too late for people to enter so that they
can get Yeah. No, well, we've got a scholarship, and
(53:48):
I can't.
Speaker 17 (53:48):
Say unfortunately because we've had more than one hundred and
sixty applicants. But the application period for the scholarship has
in fact closed on April twenty six from six to
seven Eastern time, and we will be hosting an online
virtual resection for that scholarship where we will have two
keynote speakers, Rachel Donunzio and Maya Henderson, each of whom
(54:12):
is an author illustrator, and they'll be giving us some
great tips and insights on how to get started writing
your own books.
Speaker 13 (54:18):
So if you're a kid or an adult, or.
Speaker 17 (54:20):
Someone who's had an interest, you'll take away some food
fa thought on how to get started. We've got some
great prizes as well from some amazing small business owners
who donated their gifts, and we'll be honoring Daryl Alexander
student Daryl Alexander, who was the creative director on the
second edition books for his tremendous.
Speaker 11 (54:41):
Effort and work.
Speaker 17 (54:43):
So while the scholarship is actually closed, it's not too
late to celebrate, and of course it's not too late
to get in the loop for next year, which will
also be announcing the launch of our third prize, which
is again the hashtag all Kids Need Books of prize.
So we go from two to three scholarships from this
(55:03):
year to next, and we love anybody in your audience
to join us.
Speaker 13 (55:08):
That's awesome. So you're getting more scholarships every year, that's amazing.
And only females. Is the scholarship just for females?
Speaker 4 (55:16):
I'm sorry say that again.
Speaker 13 (55:17):
Is your scholarship is just for females.
Speaker 17 (55:21):
The scholarships are for everybody for the Yeah, I'd encourage
folks to go on the website at Coco Kids Collection
Books dot com to check out all the details. There's
a link on the scholarship page that has all of it,
because there are actually three and the first is for.
Speaker 11 (55:39):
Black women.
Speaker 17 (55:39):
It really mirrors my trajectory and my effort to publish
my books, and I wanted to give back to anybody
who found themselves in that same position. So one is
for high school age, the second is for college agent beyond.
And then this new award again, the All Kids Need
Books Award is for anybody quite really anybody, And if
(56:00):
you're not writing a book, but you're doing impactful and
meaningful work in the world of literacy. So if you're
bringing books to your church or doing something in your
community and you want to be nominated or considered, you're eligible.
So again I encourage everyone.
Speaker 4 (56:15):
To check out the website for full details.
Speaker 13 (56:17):
I love it. So go ahead and give everybody that
website as well as your social media so that they
can keep in touch and be a part of your
reception coming up. Yeah, perfect, that'd be great.
Speaker 17 (56:28):
So the website is www dot Coco Coo CooA Kids.
Then ask Collection Books dot com and if you go
to that website you can find everything. And also if
you hashtag all kids need Books, you'll find some of
the information and work that we've been doing. I'll be

those spaces, you'll also be able to learn about some
of the amazing and I mean amazing small business owners

Speaker 13 (57:09):
Well, thank you so much. I appreciate you coming on
and God bless your reception that's coming up, and I
just believe that it's going to continue to grow and
you'll get more and more scholarships because you're doing a
great work.

I'll say it again. Thank you so much for all
that you do. You know, being connected to the community

Speaker 12 (01:02:12):
Who that was the scandal up through you.
Speaker 20 (01:02:16):
Will and Jada had a entango min I know you
heard about this because I heard about this a couple
of years ago. I didn't know it was true, right
because I live in La. You know, people talk, people wish.
You go to a couple of parties and people start drinking,
they get to talking your bill, you know, Jada back
in them streets, You're like, yeah, Will she.
Speaker 28 (01:02:39):
Now.
Speaker 20 (01:02:40):
The rumor was that Jada was having an affair with
this young R and B dude named August Our Seeing.
I know y'all heard about the homeboy fell in love
with Jada. She broke up with him, and he lost
his mind what he started telling everybody. I know y'all
heard about this. You went on the breakfast club and
went on Sway. It was nuts that spread like wildfire.
Just got so bad that Jada and Will had to
do something. Jada had to do an announcement on Red
(01:03:02):
Table Talk. Please tell me you seen it. I'm gonna
tell you right now. Will Smith is my hero. He
a better man than me. He took it like a cheek.
She told her husband. She was somebody else on a shop.
Will was sitting there. He was like, soh Jada, what's
going on? She was like, well, well, you know that
(01:03:29):

Speaker 28 (01:04:16):
They always together?
Speaker 20 (01:04:17):
Will billick Next thing, you know, I'm in Bad Boys nine.
Speaker 11 (01:04:24):
Smart.
Speaker 13 (01:04:42):
All right. That was a comedy clip from my next guest.
Let me give him a proper introduction. You have seen
him on Everything dev Comedy Jam, Showtime at the Apollo.
He had his own show Bill Belames, Who's Got Jokes?
He also hosted Last Comics. Then then you've seen them
on How to Be a Player, Love Jones, The Brothers,
(01:05:04):
The Jamie Fox Show, Half and Half, Meet the Browns, Unsung, Hollywood,
The Neighborhood, bel Air, and the list goes on. I'm
so excited to have him on the show. He is
a comedy legend. I want y'all to show a lot
of love to Bill Bellamy. Hey, I am so good.
(01:05:26):
How are you today?
Speaker 20 (01:05:27):
It's my birthday weekend. I'm an airy shout out to
all the areas in the building.
Speaker 13 (01:05:31):
Yes, yes, you know, I already our side.
Speaker 11 (01:05:35):
What's up?
Speaker 2 (01:05:36):
Hey?
Speaker 13 (01:05:37):
I shouted you out doing the birthdays? I know you
had a birthday? Was Monday? Right, Yes, mair, Yes, happy birthday?
And I mean, I know women don't give their age,
but I know men. Do you give your age?
Speaker 6 (01:05:50):
No?
Speaker 11 (01:05:51):
I don't give my age, but Google do?
Speaker 13 (01:05:53):
Okay, y'all already Google. I think I might even said it.
Speaker 11 (01:05:58):
Your business trying to see see where you was born?
Was it a manger? You know all the time?
Speaker 13 (01:06:05):
But you look good. I can't even believe that you're
that age.
Speaker 11 (01:06:09):
You look good.
Speaker 20 (01:06:11):
I don't know what it is about cocoa butter and
taking milk baths where they work.
Speaker 11 (01:06:16):
I think, yeah, I was.
Speaker 13 (01:06:17):
Gonna ask you your secrets because I'm like, you got
smooth skin, you got all your hair. Still, I'm just like,
what's the secret. So it's milk bass, okay, in coco butter.
Thank you, thank you.
Speaker 11 (01:06:29):
Now we know.
Speaker 13 (01:06:30):
Now we know what to do.
Speaker 20 (01:06:32):
I mean, you got to take care of yourself, you know. Honestly,
I think being being happy in laughter and living in
your purpose is it really is like a leixture for life.
Speaker 13 (01:06:46):
I think, yes, that is true, because when you're in
your purpose, I think you have less stress because you're
in your call and you're not pulling your hair out
because like, oh I hate this job. No, you love
your job. You love your yea yes, and love entertaining.
Speaker 20 (01:07:02):
I love making people laugh. I love to travel and
making people smile. Like last night was a really beautiful
night of comedy here in Arizona. I'm performing that standing
up live, working on my next you know hour. You know,
I was listening to you playing one of my clips
from my last one. I want my life back, and
(01:07:25):
you know now I feel like, you know, still standing
being in the being in comedy for you know, close
to thirty years is amazing career.
Speaker 13 (01:07:35):
Actually, that is that is awesome. And you just found
your calling so early. So like, were you always funny?
Like how did you know you wanted to be a
comedian because didn't you have another career first as well?
Speaker 20 (01:07:49):
Yeah, it was It's weird. I didn't know I was
going to be a comedian an actor. I was never
thinking of, you know, oh man, I'm gonna be a
movie star now.
Speaker 11 (01:07:57):
I didn't know that.
Speaker 20 (01:07:58):
I kind of like stumbled into my passion because but
I was always naturally funny. But you know, you you shilly,
silly ain't a job facts, you know what I mean.
I was a funny kid. I was, you know, sort
of like the you know, the guy that was always
(01:08:20):
quick with it. But I think that just that natural
talent for timing was really the ingredients for how I
became a comedian.
Speaker 13 (01:08:30):
Okay, So tell me about your first time that you
got on stage where you had like an open mic
or something.
Speaker 11 (01:08:39):
Oh, I was.
Speaker 20 (01:08:39):
Hosting a clubhouse at Rutgers University because you know, like
in school, they do these shows like that. They're just
like you know, intimate shows of like you have a
guy who plays the guitar. You got a girl that
does poetry, you know them poetry and they things, and
they always needed a host, and I would be like, Yo,
(01:09:02):
could I host it? I went up there and I
was hosting, and I had everybody dying laughing because I
was impriving and stuff. Everybody was like, yo, Bill's funny.
As next thing you know, here I go the campus comedian.
Speaker 13 (01:09:17):
Okay, okay.
Speaker 11 (01:09:19):
And then and then.
Speaker 20 (01:09:21):
I did a couple of step shows. I did a
show for Delta Sigma Theater in college. They put me
on so I was getting like these little baby gigs
and next thing you know, they end up turning into
real gigs.
Speaker 13 (01:09:36):
Wow, Okay, did you ever work? I think I read
that you were an accountant or somebody said you were
like an accountant.
Speaker 11 (01:09:43):
So check this out.
Speaker 20 (01:09:45):
So my my major in college was economics. I got
a job in marketing out of college. I had a
corporate job for two and a half years and then
I switched if. I quit my job and I started
doing stand up in New York, like I was doing Jersey,
(01:10:06):
New York, Connecticut Billy and And it was so crazy
because people used to be like Bill you ain't no
for media until you quit that day job. Okay, but
you know what I ended up quitting it.
Speaker 13 (01:10:22):
That takes faith. Like, were you getting a lot of
pay gigs where it was like, okay, I'm making about
the same or you just said I'm going out on faith.
Speaker 20 (01:10:31):
I stepped out on faith because I felt like, and
this is the thing about chasing your dream, you got
to have a lot of faith too, because you don't
have a lot of times you're not gonna have an
assurance that it's gonna work. So your belief, you know,
in your prayers, can be on the other side of
(01:10:51):
that faith. You just got to step into it.
Speaker 13 (01:10:54):
Wow, you're a good looking man. You got your hair
on your head and all that, and even when you
first start it off, you're like, yeah, I have your
wavery here and all that. Is it harder to be
good looking in a comedian? It's extremely hard, because I
know as a woman it is, so I'm just thinking
(01:11:15):
as a man, is it hard for y'all?
Speaker 11 (01:11:17):
Yeah?
Speaker 20 (01:11:18):
It was very hard for me because to peak at
that time in the nineties, I don't think I actually
looked like what they thought was a comedian, and so
people didn't want to laugh at.
Speaker 11 (01:11:32):
First, so I had to be so funny.
Speaker 20 (01:11:34):
It was actually a super power for me because I
had to be really funny just to make people laugh.
Speaker 11 (01:11:40):
The dudes hated me in the beginning. It was like, man,
what you do right here? I think he's Dominican you.
Speaker 13 (01:11:49):
Oh man, I feel you. Yes, I had to learn that, like, oh,
how do I get the women on my side because
there's nothing but women in the crowd, Like you know
what I mean? That is a skill? Oh yes, okay,
So I just want to see if it's the same
for men.
Speaker 11 (01:12:03):
Okay, yeah, you're not alone.
Speaker 4 (01:12:05):
Okay.
Speaker 13 (01:12:07):
And I think i've heard Terrence. Shout out to Terrence,
your role manager that's in the clubhouse. Hey, he's the
one that that hooked us up for today. But I
think he told the story about one time you had
a really tough crowd and how you overcame that. You
did your closing joke first.
Speaker 11 (01:12:25):
So I know what you're talking about. About.
Speaker 20 (01:12:29):
When I did the Apollo the first time, okay, Simbad
was hosting. Shout out to Simbad and Simbad, you know
the night that I did the pole, all the real
people got booed.
Speaker 11 (01:12:44):
Wow, the real people got booed on my shelf. I
was like, what is going on?
Speaker 13 (01:12:53):
The real people?
Speaker 11 (01:12:55):
Oh my god.
Speaker 20 (01:12:56):
I wasn't even real, Like, I'm an ambateur. I'm down
in the basement of the I'm nervous, I'm shaking. I'm
seeing people go up and two minutes later they back downstairs.
Speaker 11 (01:13:06):
I said, what is going on?
Speaker 2 (01:13:08):
Wow?
Speaker 20 (01:13:09):
So, and my mom was at that show. I said,
I can't get I can't get boot in front of
my mama. I was so nervous, so I opened with
my closer just to get through it.
Speaker 13 (01:13:22):
Yes, sometimes you got to catch them on you might
not even get to the closer exactly. Yeah.
Speaker 20 (01:13:29):
I ended up getting a standing ovation at that apollow
Wow confirmation.
Speaker 13 (01:13:35):
That is awesome. So you are definitely a storyteller. So
what kind of tips do you have for other comedians
that are also storytellers.
Speaker 20 (01:13:44):
Well, I think the great gift of storytelling is authenticity.
You are only good as the truth of your story,
because if your story is truthful, people feel it and
they respond a certain way, like I'm just happy I
just happened to be a great storyteller because my life
(01:14:06):
is so crazy. Okay, I've interviewed everybody under the sun.
I live in LA I done met everybody. I hang
out with famous people, so I have the best stories.
Speaker 13 (01:14:22):
Okay, so be authentic because I feel like you're very
visual like, and even if with your voice, your voice
is not monotone like, it's just the way you say it, you.
Speaker 2 (01:14:34):
Know what I mean?
Speaker 11 (01:14:35):
Correct?
Speaker 13 (01:14:36):
So I love that. I love that about you, that
your stories are just so intriguing. All right, So, you know,
we got to talk about Who's got jokes? Bring it back?
What's up? Because everybody that was on it it kind
of blew up. I mean, I know Tommy's not there anymore,
Rest in peace to him, but can you bring it back?
Speaker 11 (01:14:57):
I won't know.
Speaker 20 (01:14:58):
I want to do something for the new cook because
I look at Tiffany Hattish, I look at Little Real.
I really really am proud of those two guys because
they were young, they were new, and I knew they
were funny. I just knew it once America got winded them,
(01:15:19):
something was going to happen. And you know, I feel
like they are graduates of Who's got jokes?
Speaker 33 (01:15:27):
Yeah?
Speaker 13 (01:15:28):
Yeah, I think Carlos Miller wasn't.
Speaker 2 (01:15:30):
He on you too?
Speaker 20 (01:15:31):
Carlos Miller? He was on there do you write. I
can't think of everybody. There was about another three or
four people that just started making big moves after they
did Who's Got Jokes?
Speaker 13 (01:15:44):
Yeah, I think you should definitely bring it back something,
you know. I think that would be dope. All right,
So let's talk about some of your movie roles, because
you act as well. Okay, So which one do you prefer?
Dramatic or comedy.
Speaker 11 (01:15:58):
I like the.
Speaker 20 (01:16:00):
Contrast to bolts because they're like two. They're like radio.
It's two different stations, you know what I mean. Dramatic
emotions come from a very serious place. Comedy comes from
a lighthearted and more beautiful and uplifting place. They really
did us notes and music. It's just different notes.
Speaker 13 (01:16:21):
Okay.
Speaker 27 (01:16:22):
You know.
Speaker 20 (01:16:22):
Actually I've done a lot of dramatic roles. If you
go on Netflix and you watch the Octavia Spencer So
I did a self made with Octavia Spencer that was
very very good. It was the Madam C. J. Walker Story.
Speaker 13 (01:16:44):
Oh yeah, I saw that.
Speaker 11 (01:16:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 20 (01:16:46):
I was in that that limited series with Blair Underwood
and Carmedy Gojo. We we had a great time. That
was a directing role. I played Sweetness. I was in
any given Sunday, I played the dramatic road I played
uh Jimmy Sanderson, Okay, uh, you know what I mean.
(01:17:11):
On Fast Lane, i played Deacon Hay, So I've definitely
got some dramatic rows in there.
Speaker 13 (01:17:17):
So you're also an author, So what have you written?
Tell us about what you've written from.
Speaker 20 (01:17:24):
My best selling memoir is called Top Billy Stories of Laughter, Life,
Lessons and Triumph.
Speaker 11 (01:17:32):
It's a story of ups and downs. It's a story
of laughter.
Speaker 20 (01:17:37):
And dreams and you know, unpredictable situations.
Speaker 11 (01:17:43):
And you know, people don't know on your journey of life.
Speaker 20 (01:17:47):
If you live long enough, you're gonna have a season
of loads, a season of you know, abundance.
Speaker 11 (01:17:55):
But you got to stay in your purpose.
Speaker 20 (01:17:58):
You gotta keep going and then and you will get
more blessings by living your truth, you know. And so
the book and hopefully it's been inspiring to people. It's
gonna make you laugh. It's in my voice too, so
it's not like it's not like the Morgan Freeman Boys.
Speaker 11 (01:18:16):
This is Bill Bell. Let me talk to tea.
Speaker 13 (01:18:18):
Okay, I love it. Well, we're gonna go ahead and
go to a quick commercial break and we're gonna come
back and spill the tea. You ready to spill the
tea with a sister?
Speaker 11 (01:18:30):
Yeah, I'm ready.
Speaker 4 (01:18:30):
Let's go.
Speaker 2 (01:18:31):
You're ready.
Speaker 13 (01:18:31):
What kind of tea do you drink? Say again, what
kind of tea do you drink?
Speaker 11 (01:18:38):
I like green tea. Okay, I like lemon and ginger
tea as well.
Speaker 13 (01:18:43):
Okay, all right, I like lifting decaffeinated. That's my favorite tea.
Speaker 11 (01:18:48):
You old school, you're still lifting.
Speaker 13 (01:18:50):
That's what I grew up on lifting, But you're not.
I like a good medicine ball too, from Starbucks. You
ever have those?
Speaker 11 (01:18:56):
Oh yeah, that medicine ball goes.
Speaker 13 (01:18:57):
Yes, it's off the chain. But I've been cutting back,
like on the honey and stuff. I'd be overdoing the honey.
I'd be like, put five honeys. So my god, it's
so delicious. I'm like, okay, I got to cut back
on honey. All right, we're gonna go ahead and go
to commercial. When we come back, we're gonna do the
Holy Tea. That's what we drink around here, the Holy ta.
(01:19:19):
All right, it's still very delicious. It's very delicious. So
we'll be right back.
Speaker 11 (01:19:25):
Okay, I got you.
Speaker 38 (01:19:27):
Mental health and learning disorders don't discriminate. Seventeen million children
and adolescents in the United States live with disorders like
anxiety depression ADHD, and dyslexia. Less than half get the
help they need to thrive. Help the Childminded Institute change
(01:19:49):
these children's lives. Visit childmind dot Org.
Speaker 13 (01:20:02):
All right, welcome back. You're listening to the Me and
Miss Jones Show. I'm still your host, doctor Miss Jones,
and I'm hanging out with comedian acts Sir, author Bill Bellamy.
What's up?
Speaker 11 (01:20:20):
Bill? The bill?
Speaker 12 (01:20:22):
The billing?
Speaker 13 (01:20:23):
Hey, all right, you ready to spill some of this
holy tea.
Speaker 11 (01:20:27):
Let's get that holy tea girl.
Speaker 13 (01:20:28):
Go all right. So Damon Wayans has recently admitted to
dating his nephew's AX. That's right. He was recently on
the Shannon Sharp podcast and he admitted to dating his
nephews X. So we're gonna go ahead and listen to
a quick clip of it and then we'll come back
and discuss.
Speaker 23 (01:20:47):
Okay, oh my god, Yeah, I was in love with her,
that's the thing. Come on, you ain't never did.
Speaker 12 (01:20:58):
Jackson five? That's I mean, a poor family, but that's
south limits.
Speaker 11 (01:21:04):
Damon, No, but he was.
Speaker 28 (01:21:05):
It wasn't like they were in love, so he dated though.
Speaker 11 (01:21:09):
Do you know how small the pool is out here
in Kelli?
Speaker 6 (01:21:13):
Yeah?
Speaker 39 (01:21:13):
Dating pool like and this was probably what two thousand
and what two thousand and one two.
Speaker 11 (01:21:20):
Didn't did you know what originally?
Speaker 28 (01:21:23):
Did she know originally?
Speaker 11 (01:21:24):
That?
Speaker 23 (01:21:24):
Yes? When I met I, so I was. I got
divorced and I was by myself for two years right.
Speaker 39 (01:21:30):
Right, And then I saw her and I was just like,
oh my god, I'm in love and I found out
my nephew had dated it.
Speaker 23 (01:21:36):
I'm like, you know what's up with that? He goes,
that's you. I was like, okay, Pastor Kabasi and I
went ahead and I fell in love, fell in love
and it was okay.
Speaker 11 (01:21:51):
But it's just they clowned you, didn't it.
Speaker 23 (01:21:53):
Yeah, family gatherings is awkward.
Speaker 11 (01:21:57):
Yeah, I don't know about that one, David. I matter.
I'll just have to let her go.
Speaker 23 (01:22:08):
No, you didn't see that, you understand, all right?
Speaker 13 (01:22:25):
That was the clip of Damon Wayne saying that he
dated his nephew's X.
Speaker 11 (01:22:33):
Is that not nuts?
Speaker 13 (01:22:36):
That is absolutely crazy. It's one thing that your friend's ex.
Speaker 11 (01:22:42):
That is so nuts. But you got to understand, like,
you know, you got to give Damon some grades.
Speaker 6 (01:22:49):
You know.
Speaker 11 (01:22:49):
He he wasn't in them streets. You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 20 (01:22:52):
He ain't really know what to do. And uh, his
nephew brought him a nice piece of Cosfi cat.
Speaker 13 (01:22:58):
Oh my god, my thing is okay. Maybe you didn't
know at first that she dated your nephew, but she knew.
I mean, how many Wayne's are they? It's all the
Wayne's family. She forty of them, you know what I'm saying.
But you knew that they was connected some kind of
white like it ain't like a Jones, you know what
I'm saying.
Speaker 20 (01:23:18):
You know, sometimes women just want to stay in the family,
so that that that's how it goes.
Speaker 13 (01:23:23):
Sometimes hot mess. I mean the Jackson's that was crazy.
When Jermaine married Randy's ex girlfriend put a ring on
he said kid, and then you was uncle, uncle, daddy.
It's crazy. That is crazy. The family gatherings, yes, let's
(01:23:49):
all the super family cookout. That is too much. That's
just too much.
Speaker 4 (01:23:54):
I don't know.
Speaker 13 (01:23:55):
Reminded me of your role on Love Jones when you
dated Nia long after Lareen.
Speaker 11 (01:24:00):
Yeah, hollydood baby.
Speaker 13 (01:24:04):
Man, that was a reality show for the way, And
so I tell you they could have did a reality.
Speaker 11 (01:24:11):
For Christmas. You gotta get got to get a gift
for Damon and.
Speaker 13 (01:24:17):
Well don't look like they still together. So what was crazy?
You said? The Dayton pool in Hollywood is small? I'm like,
your famous, you're rich. How is your pool small? Like
your pool is like huge, It's like a big lake.
What are you talking about? I mean, because that was funny,
that's crazy, right? How is his dating pool small? I
(01:24:39):
don't get that.
Speaker 20 (01:24:40):
Gause you probably want a certain type of girl. I'm
assuming she was really beautiful, because yeah, like you said,
you know, it has to be something to catch your eye.
Speaker 11 (01:24:51):
He said, he fell in loved immediately.
Speaker 4 (01:24:54):
I don't know.
Speaker 13 (01:24:54):
It's a lot of beautiful women in La. I'm just saying, okay,
all right, let's go the next story. So Tony Braxton
and Berdman got secretly married and divorced. So they were
married on August eighth of last year. They got separated
on August tenth. That's right, I said it right two
days later. In two weeks later, she filed for divorce.
(01:25:16):
She said that it was irretrievably broken, and then in
January she dismissed the divorce petition. So she's fifty six,
he's fifty seven, and they started dating in twenty sixteen
after being besties. He supported her with her battle with lupus,
and then they got engaged in twenty eighteen. They broke
(01:25:36):
it off in twenty nineteen, and then it's kind of
been rumors back and forth that they were married. So
what's your thoughts.
Speaker 20 (01:25:46):
I ran into them on the The Show with Tony
Braxton in Atlanta when they first met, and I was like,
it's this real because you never see Birdman out Like,
give me you ain't never seen bird Man at Costco, right, but.
Speaker 13 (01:26:05):
You you see Tony at Costco.
Speaker 20 (01:26:08):
No, but you see Tony around, Tony around okay, like
Tony is performing a lot like. So when I saw
a bird Man backstage, it was like, what's going on?
He was he was in her dressing room. So I
was like, I think something going on. Next thing, I
know they married. Next thing, next thing, I know, he
got all the tattoos off his head.
Speaker 13 (01:26:30):
No, he didn't know, he didn't.
Speaker 11 (01:26:32):
He took all the tattoos off, my god.
Speaker 20 (01:26:35):
His face and stuff. So I know she got her
some ajax and my my love and the tattoos off.
Speaker 13 (01:26:45):
She did something because that was a lot. I'm like,
did he have a drop? Did he have a tear drop?
I don't know what he had?
Speaker 20 (01:26:53):
Played him up, and then they must have got into
a fight about the rain drop.
Speaker 11 (01:26:59):
And then they got back together. So it's gonna work.
Speaker 13 (01:27:01):
Okay, you think it's gonna work because the grass ain't
green on the other side. So she done cleaned up
her fish. She said, look at here, the boom and
the lake might be small, but I'm gonna get this
fish and clean up this fish.
Speaker 11 (01:27:14):
Oh you gotta do it. W wash the tattoos off
the fish.
Speaker 2 (01:27:17):
Yeah, that's it. That's all.
Speaker 13 (01:27:20):
Take that brother the church or something there it is, and.
Speaker 11 (01:27:23):
Y'all start playing together. We all right, But you know, my.
Speaker 13 (01:27:27):
Thing is, how did after two days y'all get separated?
I mean, y'all ain't like living together. I mean, what
was it?
Speaker 27 (01:27:35):
Do you know?
Speaker 2 (01:27:35):
Working?
Speaker 11 (01:27:36):
You got to understand, you got to alpha.
Speaker 20 (01:27:39):
You got an alpha female and an alpha male, two
very successful people, and they all got that button on like, look,
I ain't got to you.
Speaker 11 (01:27:49):
You know where I am?
Speaker 32 (01:27:50):
Hello?
Speaker 11 (01:27:51):
Play, you know, and then they get hurted. So they
go to waffle house and just eat.
Speaker 4 (01:27:56):
There it is.
Speaker 13 (01:27:58):
All right, let's go to the next story. Soldier boy,
tell him yo, he is liable in a sexual assault lawsuit.
So on Thursday, A Jerry slapped him with a four
million dollar verdict in a civil lawsuit. That's right. He
was ordered to pay four million dollars to his former
assistant that he used to live with. That's not a
(01:28:19):
little fishy right there. So she filed a lawsuit in
twenty twenty one saying that he assaulted her and held
her captive, that he failed to pay her for her
works that she did as his personal assistant, so she
started to working for him in twenty eighteen. She was
making five hundred dollars a week to coug clean you know,
do little stuff like that. Right, So then about a
(01:28:43):
month later he started sending her pictures of his private
parts and they began a consensual relationships. So this turned
into some violence. He was punching her, allegedly locking her
up in rooms for days and so, of course, he
denies all the claims. He says that the district attorney
(01:29:03):
never filed any charges against him. He was never charged
or convicted criminally, so the four million dollars was only
for compensatory damages, and there's gonna be a second phase
of the trial to determine punitive damages. You know, I
had to google. I was like, okay, let's break this down.
So compensatory damages are basically your actual losses, your medical exposiness,
(01:29:26):
property damage if you have lost wages. And then the
punitive damages basically you're trying to put that person on
punishment for whatever they did, you know, for intentional miscondupt
So they still got to determine that. So what's your thoughts.
Speaker 11 (01:29:44):
Well, this sounds like a workplace situation.
Speaker 20 (01:29:49):
It sounds like a bad situation of sleeping with your assistant. Well,
you know, you start out wor next thing, you know,
y'all start flirting. Next thing, you know, y'all start going together.
Next thing you know, you want to break up. And
next thing, you know, she want to get paid. So
(01:30:12):
we got to figure out what's what because this is
this is a four million dollars. I don't know what
soldier boy paid per hour, but that's a lot of money.
Speaker 13 (01:30:23):
Five hundred a week is what I read. So how
that got the four million, I don't know. Locked up?
Speaker 11 (01:30:30):
Maybe she wanted to get back to maybe she maybe
he owed her over time.
Speaker 13 (01:30:34):
Well, medical expenses, whatever that violence was. Those medical bills were.
Speaker 11 (01:30:39):
Really four million dollars. That's a lot of facts.
Speaker 13 (01:30:45):
That's just crazy to me. Well, you know, it's a
lesson learned, you know, because people are relatitious these days,
you know what I mean, And it's a lesson learned.
Don't mess with your assistant, don't live with.
Speaker 20 (01:30:56):
Your See, I realized that most people didn't see how
to be a player.
Speaker 11 (01:31:02):
They don't know how to move in this game.
Speaker 13 (01:31:03):
They don't know how to move. He ain't know how
to move.
Speaker 20 (01:31:05):
Yeah, soldier boy, you're gonna have an assistant. Make sure
she looked so ordinarily that you don't even want to
think about messing up your money.
Speaker 33 (01:31:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 13 (01:31:19):
Let it be a grandma something.
Speaker 11 (01:31:23):
Oh, she may teach Pablo. Yeah you got a crock
pot something like.
Speaker 13 (01:31:28):
That, exactly. You can't have nobody attracted that you're gonna
be like, no, no, can't do it, can't do it.
Thank you for that advice. A lot of the sloveries
they need that advice.
Speaker 11 (01:31:42):
At all.
Speaker 13 (01:31:43):
Yes, all right, so Stephen A Smith for president.
Speaker 4 (01:31:47):
Yes.
Speaker 13 (01:31:47):
He was recently on a late night talk show with
Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Falloon showed him some headlines of
him running for president. So let's go ahead and we're
gonna play a quick clip of that, and we're gonna
come back in debris.
Speaker 23 (01:32:02):
Over the news.
Speaker 11 (01:32:03):
Yeah, I know they can't stop talking about me.
Speaker 23 (01:32:05):
What's wrong with these people?
Speaker 28 (01:32:06):
Because you're good? Because you're good, that's why, that's why
they have to talk about you.
Speaker 4 (01:32:09):
But I want to show everybody there's headlines here Stephen A.
Speaker 28 (01:32:13):
Smith for president?
Speaker 12 (01:32:16):
Could Stephen A.
Speaker 28 (01:32:17):
Smith saved the Democratic Party?
Speaker 12 (01:32:19):
I mean, what's what's going on?
Speaker 11 (01:32:22):
What does this mean?
Speaker 4 (01:32:23):
Folks?
Speaker 11 (01:32:23):
Are nuts?
Speaker 23 (01:32:24):
Number one? No number two?
Speaker 11 (01:32:27):
You know?
Speaker 39 (01:32:28):
I mean the Democratic Party. I mean they lost, they
had a bad few months.
Speaker 11 (01:32:31):
We all know this.
Speaker 39 (01:32:33):
And even though there's a lot of qualified Democrats all
over the country from a local perspective, governors, mayor stuff
like that, there's no real national voice into one.
Speaker 23 (01:32:44):
They've come to me. And so I mean, I did
not ask for this. I don't want this.
Speaker 39 (01:32:49):
I happen to have a very very very good life,
very good job. I'm good, very good. Yes, I know,
and you know they want to talk. They even got
me in the polls, man, they got like I think
the numbers up to like seven point six percent.
Speaker 28 (01:33:04):
I watched these things.
Speaker 11 (01:33:05):
I watched these things.
Speaker 23 (01:33:05):
Yes, and I'm saying, wait a minute now, I don't
want to do this.
Speaker 39 (01:33:10):
But the fact that they're talking about me this way,
I must say I approved this message.
Speaker 12 (01:33:17):
So have you ever been elected student council or anything?
Speaker 6 (01:33:21):
Or no?
Speaker 39 (01:33:22):
I mean, listen, only thing I was the only thing
that I was the leader of. I was leading in
my mama's house, taking out the garbage and washing the
dishes twice away. Other than that, my fo older sister
told me to shut up, do what you're told and
you'll live.
Speaker 28 (01:33:33):
Yeah, and that's how I go.
Speaker 13 (01:33:48):
All right. That was a clip of Stephen A. Smith
on Jimmy Fallon talking about he approves the message. So
what you think about that? Should he run?
Speaker 11 (01:33:58):
Don't tell you guys is least Stephen A. Smith is
my guy. I love Steve.
Speaker 20 (01:34:04):
I think Steve don't mind talking crazy at all at all. Yeah,
he does it every day. But you know he would
be a comedic presidential choice. Yes, oh my god, he's
screaming all day. He talking about sports and politics. I
(01:34:26):
think that would be an interesting skit on SNL.
Speaker 13 (01:34:28):
Yes, yes, well you know, I mean, would he be
any more comedic than our president we have? Now, I'm
just saying because he comedy.
Speaker 20 (01:34:36):
I think Stephen A. Smith would be hilarious. Trump is unbelievable.
Speaker 13 (01:34:46):
Well, we'll see. We gonna keep following it all. Our
last story is about Billboard. So they have named the
top female rapper of all time. They named it on Monday.
All right, So this is a list. Number twenty five
t Aaro Whack. I wasn't quite sure who was Do
you know who that is?
Speaker 31 (01:35:01):
He?
Speaker 11 (01:35:02):
Ever?
Speaker 13 (01:35:02):
Whack?
Speaker 6 (01:35:03):
No.
Speaker 13 (01:35:04):
Twenty four is Doci twenty three Gangsta Bull Shout out
to her, twenty two Lady of Rage, She's from Death Row.
Twenty one is Gloorrilla twenty Money Love nineteen, Lotto eighteen,
Remy Ma seventeen, Rhapsody sixteen, Those You Can fifteen, Making
a Stallion fourteen is Left Eye, thirteen is Trina, twelve,
(01:35:24):
is the Brat eleven, Cardi B ten, Foxy Brown Ninive eight,
Roxy and Chante seven, Salt and Pepper six, Empcy Light five,
Queen Latifah four, Little Kim three, Lauren Hill two, Missy
Elliott and number one is Nicki Minaj. She was crowned
as the greatest female rapper Nicki Minaj, Do you agree?
Speaker 11 (01:35:49):
Do you agree?
Speaker 16 (01:35:52):
No?
Speaker 13 (01:35:53):
No, especially since either.
Speaker 11 (01:35:58):
One female rapper to me would be Little Kim.
Speaker 13 (01:36:05):
That's what I'm saying. All hell the Queen, All hell,
the Queen.
Speaker 20 (01:36:09):
You wrapped her, Biggie Kim to me, open the doors
for that style of rap.
Speaker 11 (01:36:16):
Exactly, girls with the bravado, the girls talking.
Speaker 13 (01:36:20):
That talk yep, the hair colors, the edginess.
Speaker 11 (01:36:25):
The sexiness all in one. How do you not putting
Little Kim at number one?
Speaker 13 (01:36:29):
Exactly? All hell the queen. Okay, this is how they
were evaluated. Yes, Queen Latifa was number five. Another queen, yes, okay.
Speaker 11 (01:36:43):
So what was Cardi?
Speaker 12 (01:36:44):
Cardi?
Speaker 13 (01:36:45):
She way down and listen number eleven?
Speaker 11 (01:36:48):
Oh man, come on now.
Speaker 13 (01:36:50):
Yeah, yep, okay. So this is how they were evaluated.
They were evaluated on performance, cultural impact, lyrical skill, longevity,
and flow. So now, Nikki, in her defense, she was
the first female rapper to surpass one hundred entries on
Billboard's Hot one hundred and twenty eighteen and headlining the
(01:37:12):
Pink Friday to World tour, which became the highest grossing
tour ever by a female rapper.
Speaker 20 (01:37:19):
So I think Nikki is definitely top five for sure. Yeah,
you know you're going with eras of decades of music.
I love Nikki, but like Little Kim, I just feel
like she was the first that I saw. I was
on MTV at the time.
Speaker 11 (01:37:38):
She was the first. She was like the Madonna rap
for females. Yes, yeah, I feel like she was a
very pivotal pioneer and female rap. So I want her.
She's my number one.
Speaker 13 (01:37:52):
Okay, did they miss anybody? Is there anybody you would
add to the list?
Speaker 11 (01:38:02):
They missed Boss Boss?
Speaker 13 (01:38:04):
Now who is that?
Speaker 11 (01:38:06):
Boss was from Detroit?
Speaker 13 (01:38:08):
Okay?
Speaker 11 (01:38:08):
He was on Death Jam. She was rugged too, Okay?
What about what about the girl with the red hair?
She was though too.
Speaker 13 (01:38:20):
Hmmm, I'm not sure who that is.
Speaker 20 (01:38:23):
Oh my god, she's from d C. She was a
rapper too, she had red hair. She was around with
Biggie in that era.
Speaker 13 (01:38:31):
N I don't know what about yo Yo yo Yo
and yo Yo? How you miss yo Yo?
Speaker 32 (01:38:38):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (01:38:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 11 (01:38:39):
Who ever did that list? They need to call me
and you.
Speaker 13 (01:38:42):
Yeah, they missed some things. Do you think remy Ma
should have been up higher? Because remember her and Nikki
kind of had a little mini battle and she beat her.
Speaker 20 (01:38:50):
Yeah, Remy, Remy, Remy, Remy. Yeah, they got they was
a little disrespectful with Remy. Then we got to move
up something.
Speaker 13 (01:38:57):
She weigh at eighteen.
Speaker 20 (01:38:59):
Now she needs to move up a little bit because
she's impactful and she got skills.
Speaker 13 (01:39:04):
Yeah, all right, they got to work on this list.
All right. So tell everybody about your shows. I know
you got another show tonight in Arizona. Then you're gonna
be in New York.
Speaker 2 (01:39:15):
New York.
Speaker 20 (01:39:17):
Yeah, I'll be at I'll be at Albany, New York.
It's my first time performing up there. It's gonna be
really really dope. I think that it is a funny
bone in New York and up state New York. In Albany,
I'll be there.
Speaker 11 (01:39:34):
Then I go to.
Speaker 20 (01:39:36):
Chicago in May. I am going to San Antonio in June.
So I'm like, I'm really really all over the country.
Make sure y'all follow me on social media. Bill Bellamy,
I'm really really crazy on there, having fun. I just
started threads, so now I'm on threads.
Speaker 13 (01:39:55):
Okay.
Speaker 11 (01:39:57):
The only thing I'm not on it's on the news.
Speaker 13 (01:40:01):
That's good, And I want to give you a congratulations
for that. Congratulations. Yes, great job staying out of the
news unless it's positive, of course. Yes, we don't want
no soldier boy foolishness up in here.
Speaker 11 (01:40:15):
Coolishness. Thank you so much, and I'm so proud of you.
Love your show.
Speaker 20 (01:40:20):
Thank you entertaining the people and being a real sister
like you are. Oh, make sure that you know if
you're near you and you know I'm in town, make
sure you come on stage and rock.
Speaker 11 (01:40:31):
Out with us.
Speaker 13 (01:40:32):
Oh, I'm coming in next week if that's that's what
we're saying. If this invitation, I'll be right up in
off and he don't play with me now, I'll be
right up.
Speaker 11 (01:40:40):
In all beautiful.
Speaker 13 (01:40:43):
All right, God, bless God, bless you. All Right, we're
gonna go into the clubhouse because I know your manager,
Terrence is in there. Hey, Terrence, thank you for being.
Speaker 11 (01:40:53):
Patient doing doctor, Miss Joe.
Speaker 13 (01:40:56):
Hey, I'm doing wonderful. Thank you so much for being patient.
I know we only got a few minutes left, but
you and Bill are going to be in all many
So you started out with Bill what like thirty years ago.
Speaker 40 (01:41:10):
Right, Yeah, actually about twenty five years ago, and it's
been an outstanding journey, just you know, protecting the brand.
He's like, he's my boss, he's my mentor, he's my confidant,
he's my best friend. It's like it's so it's so
(01:41:31):
wonderful to have a person like that, and we compliment
each other so good.
Speaker 13 (01:41:36):
I love that. So you are his tour manager, and
you know, I almost think of that as almost like
the things that the teachers do that you got to
be there. It's like you're doing more than teaching, you
solving problems, you to counselor you know, the kids need
a bandit. I'm gonna be a doctor like you do
all of that. So, like, so, what's so many things
that you do as a tour manager?
Speaker 40 (01:41:56):
Well as a manager, like I just alluded to you,
you have to protect the brand right and then you
you need to make sure everything runs smooth, meaning arranging.
Speaker 11 (01:42:08):
You know, travel the hotel, making sure that.
Speaker 40 (01:42:13):
They need lobby time at the time I'm exposed, to
make sure they come on the doctor, miss Joey.
Speaker 13 (01:42:21):
That's what's up.
Speaker 11 (01:42:22):
Yes, you know, it's a lot of things goes into
that mix.
Speaker 6 (01:42:29):
You know.
Speaker 40 (01:42:30):
The one way I'll describe it, right, behind every good
man is a good woman. Behind every good comedian, there's
a great road manager.
Speaker 11 (01:42:40):
Yes, yes, that's how I'll describe it.
Speaker 13 (01:42:43):
So I know you have a star roster to some
amazing people friends of the show. Rudy Rush, he's been
on here, we had a great time, and you also
got Delay. Yes, So are you looking for any other
artists to manage?
Speaker 11 (01:42:57):
I'm always looking. It's just I don't y you know.
Speaker 40 (01:43:02):
For me, it's not being selfish because I want to
dedicate time to individuals.
Speaker 11 (01:43:08):
You know, Bill is a lot of time as it is.
Speaker 40 (01:43:12):
Rudy has been on the road with us, so it
was easy easy to transition over to him. You mentioned
who got Who's Got Jokes? Delay was one of the
winners on that. Okay, But I'm always looking to bring
on different artists. One thing you don't know, not only
the comedian route. I have a magician, oh wow, a
(01:43:37):
black magician. His name is Levont Vera. He was h
on America's Got Talent Googling. Okay, he's amazing out of Philadelphia.
Speaker 24 (01:43:47):
Wow.
Speaker 11 (01:43:48):
So there's different avenues for me to take on that.
Speaker 40 (01:43:52):
But you know a lot of times folks would get
caught up in just taking on clients and not really
dedicating that time and that devotion to it, so I'm
not a greedy person like that. I want to make
sure that I give everybody their appropriate time.
Speaker 13 (01:44:09):
Love it well, give everybody your social media information in
your website so that they can keep in touch with you.
Speaker 11 (01:44:16):
Oh absolutely so.

Speaker 31 (01:47:57):
If we always stop had good ideas where we stop,
I end never finished.
Speaker 12 (01:48:01):
But I feel a finish's appointed in this room.
Speaker 31 (01:48:04):

I'm in it right now.
Speaker 12 (01:48:21):
I may not have the whole thing, but I'm in

Speaker 2 (01:48:52):

Speaker 1 (01:49:00):
And you look at more.
Speaker 12 (01:49:03):

Exactly union. Then I love a love.
Speaker 12 (01:49:23):
I don't deserve it much of.
Speaker 2 (01:49:26):
