And now let's dive into theshow.

(00:21):
Today's episode is titledRelease and Letting Go.
Release and let go To release isto detach yourself from

(00:42):
something or someone.
Let go is making the releasefinal.
There is no going back.
This is the definition fromdictionarycom.
When did you realize that itwas time to release?
Is it after the umpteenth timeof being disrespected, set aside

(01:03):
, mishandled or forgotten?
When do you realize it is timeto let go?
When you lay your head down atnight or when you wake up in the
morning, how and when theepiphany hits you doesn't matter
.
What matters is you have gottenup from the table and walked
right out the door.
Some of you may be nice andclose it behind you, and then

(01:27):
some of you may leave the doorwide open.
Yup, that would be me.
For many of us Black women, wehave grown up seeing some things
and it has shaped us in someway, and it doesn't matter if
you grew up poor or rich.
The things we have seen andheard have made us hold on to

(01:48):
these experiences or take thingsin we should never have.
Because of this, many of ushave seen toxic relationships,
whether it is with family, friends, jobs, etc.
So we are immersed in the slimeand don't even realize it

(02:08):
because it has been normalized.
One of the biggest things wehave all witnessed is the
meteoric rise of social mediaand what it has shown to the
world the unamused disrespectshown towards Black women, and
it is heartbreaking to see.
Unfortunately, until I woulddetriment, this has been

(02:32):
normalized on the big stage.
We have to learn to leave thetable when love is no longer
being served,Nina Simone.
it is time to release and letgo.
Release and let go is sopowerful.
We often cling to our desiresand fight for them because we
think we'll be happy if we don'tget what we want.

(02:54):
But when we let go and accept, what is what shows up for us are
often the things that we need.
These things tend to be theones that really count, creating
true happiness and meaning inour lives.
Tiny Buddha, what I've come tounderstand and learn is that you

(03:19):
cannot receive the blessingsthat are due to you if you keep
looking behind.
Many of us stay lookingbackward and stumbling over
every rock, nook and cranny.
It's time.
It's time.
Looking and moving forwarddoesn't mean that you won't
stumble or fall, but you willget up.

(03:43):
You have heard the same stories, the same apologies, and then
I'm going to do better speeches.
They will not change.
If they have been disrespectingyou all this time, just because
you have shut them down doesn'tmean they are going to go along
with it.
If you have to block people onyour phone, social media and

(04:07):
emails, do it.
If you have to change the locks, change the security system
password or move to anotherapartment, home, state or, heck,
even out of the country, do it.
If you need to get restrainingorders against family members,

(04:29):
exes, friends, jobs, do it,because here's what we're going
to do.
We are no longer going to beblocking our blessings.
It is time for you and I tostart walking in our blessings.
It is time for us to surroundourselves with like-minded women

(04:53):
who are moving forward in theirlives.
We should join groups where weshare the same interests.
One of the things that I've doneis I've really started
journaling a lot.
I have like five differentbooks no kidding that, I'm
writing different things and I'mseeing that the blockages that

(05:19):
I've had, that I didn't evenknow what blockages, are falling
away.
So you start journaling and soyou can get your thoughts on
paper.
So once you start writing downyour visions, you are making it
plain for your realities toshine through.
Your blessings have beenwaiting for you to invite them

(05:43):
in, open your door wide, releasing those who hurt and
betrayed you, understanding thatsome relations, they have
expiration dates.
And I know that that's hard, that's hard for us women because
we have attachments, we formattachments, and I know that

(06:08):
there was a friendship that Ihad to release and let go and it
was hard, it was very hard, itwas painful, because I've known
this sister for many, many yearsand you know you don't think
that relationships that you'vehad for that long, friendships,

(06:32):
sisterhoods have an expirationdate, but some of them do, and
this particular relationship didhave an expiration date.
I didn't want to eitheracknowledge it or I just wanted
to keep it going and it was nothelpful for me, it was not

(06:58):
nurturing, it was not a blessingfor me.
The relationship, thesisterhood, had an expiration
date and it was time for me tolet that go, and I did, by the
grace of God.
I did because I'm learning thatI can't take everyone with me.

(07:21):
I would love to, but the truthof the matter is I cannot and
you can't.
So we have to realize thatletting people go is not
anything against you.
It's just time to let thosethings go, because we can't take

(07:46):
everybody with us and that'sreally the bottom line.
No matter how much we desire to, we just can't.
So where did we go from here?
I found the quote from that Iwould like to share with you,
from Miss Audre Lorde, who wasa poet, essayist, a librarian, a

(08:12):
womanist, a radical feminist, aprofessor, philosopher and a
civil rights activist.
She said when I did, it bepowerful to use my strength in
the service of my vision, thenit becomes less and less
important whether I am afraid, and it becomes less important

(08:34):
whether you're afraid when it'stime to release and let go.
Just know that the fear isgoing to be there, but also know
that you take your power backwhen you release and let go of
people, places, and things thatare no longer serving you,

(08:55):
because when you let thosethings go, you open yourself up
to receive your blessings, andthat's what I want for us,
that's what I want to you, that's what I want for me,
that's what I want for everyonewho is listening to this podcast
, and I just really want tothank you for tuning into this

(09:17):
episode.
It means a lot to me.
I'm so appreciative.
Show notes will be available onBuzzsprouts.

, you are well, you are safe and, most importantly, you are you.
I will talk to you soon.
Bye.
