(01:16):
our fellow queens.
So our point today is calledbeing in the moment.
So what does that mean?
It means that we are focused onthe present, we are aware of
what is happening around us andwe are not distracted Dictionary

(01:40):
.
com.
So today's weekly Black WomanMoment will be short, but it
will be food for your thoughts, heart, mind, and soul.
And today's Black Woman Momentbelongs to Amanda Gorman.
She's an American poet andactivist.
Her work focuses on issues ofoppression, feminism, race and

(02:04):
marginalization, as well as theAfrican diaspora.
Amanda Gorman was the firstperson to be named National
Youth Poet Laurep.
Her books are Change Sings, aChildren's Anthem, the Hill we
Climb and Other Poems, which isher debut poetry collection on

(02:29):
Hope and Healing.
And the Hill we Climb, theinaugural poem for the country
for the 2020 presidentialelection.
So today's moment by Amanda iscalled Quiet Doesn't Mean Peace?
And she said this we've learnedthat quiet isn't always peace.

(02:54):
So I'm going to say that againWe've learned that quiet isn't
always peace.
And let me tell you why that isso deep.
Because the misconception isthat if it's quiet, then all is

(03:18):
well, and that could not befurther from the truth.
Sometimes quiet means thatpeople are scheming, they're
plotting.
It doesn't always mean, oh,we're just in a state of all is

(03:39):
well.
No, it does not mean that.
And if the current climate thatwe are in doesn't testify to
that, then I don't know becausepeople being quiet, especially

(03:59):
with what's going on now, theyare plotting and they are
scheming, and we are now seeingthe things that they've been
plotting in quietness.
So that was just so powerfuland so deep, because I used to

(04:25):
associate quiet, being quietwith being peaceful, but a lot
of times, quietness sometimesequates to rage, and so we have
to be very careful and we haveto be very mindful.
Yes, there are times wherequiet does equate to peace.

(04:48):
There are many times that quietdoes equate to peace, and then
there are times where quiet doesequate to peace.
So we just really need to bemindful and we really need to
recognize which one is which.

(05:11):

Amanda Gorman, and I will put alink in the show notes where you
