Speaker 1 (01:02):
Hey Glow Getters, welcome to episode 11 of the
Midlife Glow Report, your go-toshow for glowing up your full
life and full body after 40.
I'm your host, jax, and today'sepisode is packed with tips to
help you feel empowered, energized and unstoppable in
midlife.
Here's what we're diving intotoday.

(01:23):
Here's what we're diving intotoday.
We have weight loss tips, beauty tips and products, a
style tip, confidence tips, stepfour of the financial glow up
series and, finally, whycreating a five to 10 year plan
is important, especially inmidlife.
The how to and my actual fiveyear plan.

(01:45):
So grab your iced coffee pop inthose earbuds and let's get
glowing.
So here we are with some weightloss glow-up tips.
Let's talk about one of themost underrated but incredibly
powerful tools in your midlifeweight loss journey steps.
Yep, we're talking about good,old-fashioned walking, and why

(02:08):
hitting your daily step goal isa game changer, especially for
those of us glowing up in our40s, 50s and beyond.
Here's the truth Once we hitmidlife, our metabolism
naturally starts to slow, ourhormones shift and, let's be
real, losing weight becomes adifferent kind of dance than it

(02:30):
was in our 20s.
But walking, it's low impact, joint friendly, stress reducing
and surprisingly effective forfat loss, especially when you're
consistent.
Especially when you'reconsistent, when you walk more,
you increase something calledNEAT non-exercise activity

(02:50):
thermogenesis.
It's all the calories you burnoutside of formal workouts and
for women over 40, boosting NEATis everything.
Walking revs up your metabolism, supports insulin sensitivity
and helps reduce cortisol, which, hello, can help flatten that

(03:12):
stubborn midlife belly bloat.
Now let's talk tracking.
If you want to start trackingseriously with your steps, wear
a tracker.
I personally love my AppleWatch, but Fitbit, garmin and
the Aurora Ring are great.
Even your smartphone built-inhealth app can get the job done.

(03:33):
These tools give you real-timefeedback and, trust me, what
gets measured gets managed.
So how many steps should youaim for?
The magic number is differentfrom everyone, but here's a
simple way to figure it out Usethis chat GPT prompt to help
personalize your step goal.

(03:55):
Here's the example I'm a47-year-old woman, currently 250
pounds, aiming to lose weightin a sustainable and healthy way
.
I walk daily and eat in acalorie deficit.
How many daily steps would yourecommend I aim for to support
fat loss, considering my age, weight and lifestyle?

(04:16):
Pop that into CHAP GPT withyour specifics and it will give
you a solid baseline goal andyou can always build up from
there.
Personally, I started with3,000 steps a day and slowly
worked my way to 8,000 to 10,000steps.
Some days are higher, some arerest days, and that's okay.

(04:40):
What matters most is consistencyover perfection.
Movement is momentum.
Most is consistency overperfection.
Movement is momentum.
So if you're listening rightnow and thinking but I don't
have time to walk, let me tellyou you have time to scroll, you
have time to glow, take thatpodcast, that playlist, that
phone call and walk it out.

(05:02):
You're not just burningcalories, you're reclaiming your
power, one step at a time.
Now the second weight loss tipI'm going to touch on is we
already mentioned previouslyNEAT.
That stands for non-exerciseactivity thermogenesis.
But don't worry, I'm not hereto make you memorize fancy terms

(05:25):
.
Neat simply means all thecalories your body burns doing
everyday stuff that isn't formalexercise.
And listen, when you're amidlife woman trying to lose
weight, neat is your secretweapon.
Why?
Because as we age, our restingmetabolism naturally slows and

(05:47):
our bodies aren't as quick toburn fat.
But NEAT helps bridge that gap, without pressure of intense
workouts.
It's movement that feelseffortless, but it stacks up in
big ways.
You know how you feel extratired after a day of running
errands, even if you didn't hitthe gym.

(06:09):
That's NEAT in action.
Let me give you 10 easy, effective ways to add more NEAT
into your day.
These are small shifts that canmake a massive difference.
Park farther away when groceryshopping or at work.
Take the stairs instead of theelevator.

(06:31):
Even one flight helps Clean thehouse while listening to music
or a podcast.
Stand up and pace during phonecalls or Zoom meetings.
Walk around the room duringcommercial breaks or show
credits.
Do a quick five-minute tidy upbetween tasks.
Grocery shop in-store insteadof ordering delivery or curbside

(06:55):
.
Carry laundry up in smallerloads for more trips.
Dance while cooking or doingdishes.
Dance while cooking or doingdishes.
Finally, set a timer to stand, stretch or walk for two to five
minutes every hour while workinga desk job.
Here's the magic.
These little activities don'tfeel like exercise, but they

(07:18):
increase your daily calorie burn, improve circulation and keep
your body active throughout theday.
Improve circulation and keepyour body active throughout the
day and in midlife.
This is exact kind ofsustainable movement our bodies
just love.
So if you're not up for aworkout today, that's okay.
Just focus on moving more inyour normal life.

(07:40):
Neat turns your daily routineinto your wellness routine.
No-transcript.
All right, now it's time for oneof my favorite segments, the
beauty glow-up segment, andtoday we're talking about

(08:02):
something that often getsoverlooked in the self-care
world your signature scent.
Now, I know what you'rethinking a scent, really.
But hear me out.
When you're on a glow-upjourney, especially in midlife,
it's not just about what youwear or how your skin looks.
It's about how you feel.

(08:22):
It's about crafting an energy,a vibe, a presence that says
this is who I'm becoming.
And a scent Scent is powerful.
It's emotional, it'smemory-making.
It's emotional, it's memorymaking.
It can instantly boost yourmood, ground you or make you
feel magnetic without saying aword.

(08:44):
Having a signature scent islike putting an exclamation
point at the end of yourpersonal style.
It tells the world I take careof myself, I know who I am and
I'm worth remembering.
So let me share a few of myfavorite scents, because you

(09:05):
know I'm always going to bringyou real recommendations,
especially ones that don't breakthe bank.
Right now I'm obsessed I meanobsessed with the Kapari Hair
and Body Mist in Kanapali Coast.
You guys, this smells like youjust stepped out of a
first-class flight to Hawaii.
It's tropical, it's fresh, it'sfeminine without being too

(09:26):
sweet, perfect for summer oranytime you want to feel like
you're glowing from the insideout.
You can spritz it in your hair, all over your body.
It's light, but it lingersbeautifully.
I found mine on Amazon, but youcan also get it through Ulta or
their website and, trust me,it's worth stocking up.

(09:47):
Another favorite by KapariMarabella Bloom.
It's more floral, more romantic.
If Canapale Coast is yourbeachy vacation vibe, marabella
Bloom is your garden party glowup.
It's soft, sophisticated andperfect for midlife women who

(10:07):
want something a little elegant,a little whimsical.
Now can we talk about Cyclar.
That's C-Y-K-L-A-R.
I just started using this brandand, oh my gosh, I'm in love.
The vitamin C body oil, thesensorial body wash and the
nutrient-rich body cream, all inNaked Neroli scent, are giving

(10:31):
spa in Italy energy.
It's citrusy, fresh and clean, but has this underlining warmth
that makes you feel luxuriousand, honestly, the ritual of
applying these products make mefeel like I'm treating myself
with the love and care I deserve.
I got all these on Amazon too,so they're easy to grab, even in

(10:53):
your busy life.
So if you're glowing up inmidlife, don't skip this part.
Your signature scent is part ofyour identity.
It's one of the fastest ways tofeel beautiful, confident and
present in your own skin.
Choose something that makes youfeel like your highest self and
then wear it like a crown.
You're not just walking into aroom.

(11:16):
You're arriving and, trust me,they'll remember you.
Alright, it's time for yourweekly style glow up tip, and
today we're going back to thebasics.
This is one of those smallthings that make a massive
difference, especially whenyou're glowing up in midlife.
Are you ready?
Here it is, please, please,please.

(11:38):
Invest in a full-length mirror.
I'm serious.
If you're trying to elevateyour style, boost your
confidence and feel amazing inyour clothes, this is a
non-negotiable.
A full-length mirror is not aluxury, it's a style essential.
Why?
Because small mirrors only giveyou pieces of the puzzle.

(11:59):
You might love your makeup, your top or those earrings, but
you're not seeing the wholepicture.
And, let's be honest, what youcan't see might be clashing,
bulky, wrinkled or completelythrowing off the vibe.
A full-length mirror gives youthe power to see your outfit
from head to toe, yoursilhouette, your proportions,

(12:22):
your shoe choice, the coat yougrabbed at the last minute.
It's a final checkpoint beforestepping out into the world
looking and feeling like a glowgetter.
You are.
So if you don't have onealready, today's the day, add a
full-length mirror to yourAmazon cart, or pick one up at
Target or HomeGoods.
Hang it, use it, love it.

(12:45):
It's your future self willthank you.
Okay, now it's time to talkabout one of the most powerful
parts of the glow-up, and that'sconfidence, and not the kind
you fake.
I'm talking about the deep, soul level.
Confidence that says I know whoI am, I love who I'm becoming

(13:07):
and I'm showing up fully.
Here's the thing.
Midlife is not a crisis.
It's your comeback.
It's your chance to reclaimeverything you've poured into
others for decades and finallypouring it back into you.
And confidence that's the keyto unlocking it all.
But let's be honest.
Confidence in midlife can feelcomplicated.

(13:29):
Our bodies have changed.
Society doesn't alwayscelebrate women over 40.
And we've spent years beingtold to shrink, blend in and put
ourselves last.
No more.
Now is the time to rise, and Iwant to give you three
confidence-boosting tips thathave helped me glow all the way

(13:50):
up from the inside out.
Tip number one focus on whatyour body can do, not just how
it looks.
You've walked through storms.
You've carried babies, groceries, grief, goals and
maybe even whole families onyour back.
Your body isn't just a shell.
It's a miracle.

(14:10):
Start celebrating it for itsstrength, endurance and wisdom.
Every step you take, every mealyou prep, every stretch you
feel, it's all proof that yourbody is showing up for you.
So meet it with gratitude andrespect.
Tip number two embrace yourunique beauty.

(14:32):
Confidence blooms when you stoptrying to fit into someone
else's mold.
Your smile lines, freckles, silver strands, curves and
quirks they tell a story, yourstory.
You don't need filters orcomparisons.
You need to stand in the mirrorand say this is me and I am

(14:54):
beautiful right now.
Don't wait to hit that goalweight, or hide behind outdated
beauty standards.
Glow in your now.
And tip number three celebrateaging gracefully.
Let's flip the script on aging.
Midlife isn't the beginning ofthe end.
It's the beginning of yourfreedom.

(15:16):
You've gained experience, wisdom, clarity and power.
That's not something to dread,it's something to honor.
Wear that bold lipstick, startthat business, take that trip.
Say yes to the date.
Let every year that passes addto your sparkle, not take away

(15:36):
from it.
Confidence doesn't come fromperfection.
It comes from alignment.
When you live in integrity withwho you are and what you value,
that confidence becomesunshakable.
So today, walk a little taller, speak a little louder, smile at

(15:56):
your reflection, because yourmidlife glow up isn't just
physical, it's personal, andconfidence that's your
superpower.
Okay, now we're on to thefinancial glow up series, where
we break down the exact steps totake control of your money,
build real financial peace andglow up all the way, bank

(16:19):
account included.
So far, in the previous threeepisodes, we've covered step one
know your numbers.
Step two do a 30-day spendingaudit.
And step three create avalues-based budget that
supports your glow-up life.
And now it's time for step four, one of the most powerful,

(16:41):
transformative steps in theentire journey List all your
debts and create an attack plan.
I'm talking about going all in.
Print it out, write it downEvery single debt you owe, big
or small.
Credit cards, student loans, personal loans, that afterpay

(17:01):
bill.
You need to see it all in oneplace.
This step isn't about shame.
It's about clarity and action.
Once you've listed all, organize your debts from highest
interest rate to the lowest.
This is called the avalanchemethod.
It helps you pay off your debtfaster while saving the most

(17:22):
money on interest.
Here's the next part, and it's agame changer.
You've got to increase yourincome.
Yes, you can budget and cutcosts.
But if you're buried in debtand living paycheck to paycheck,
more income gives you breathingroom and momentum.
When I was deep in my own debtpayoff journey, I got a second

(17:46):
job with a company called Appen.
It was a remote gig where Irated ads and social media posts
.
Super flexible.
I worked evenings, earlymornings, weekends, whenever I
could, and you know what.
The second job brought in anextra $1,200 a month.
That money didn't go toshopping or splurging.

(18:08):
It went straight to my highestinterest debt Every single month
.
That's how I created traction.
If you're in this place rightnow drowning in payments,
wondering how you'll ever getahead, here's my advice Ask for
a raise, get a higher paying job, start a side hustle or pick up

(18:29):
a flexible second job and onthe flip side of that coin, cut
your expenses like a boss.
This is the time to get scrappyand creative.
Don't buy the $40 skincare.
Switch to something under $10.
Stop buying $6 lattes and brewyour own Shop at Aldi.

(18:50):
Skip the organic.
Buy what's on sale and, inseason, eat at home.
Keep your meals simple, affordable and as healthy as you
can.
Use what you already have inyour pantry.
This season isn't forever.
It's a phase.
But if you can focus, sacrificeand pour all extra income

(19:11):
towards your highest interestdebt, you will start to see
progress.
Keep track weekly, makeadjustments, celebrate every
payoff, no matter how small.
I'm telling you this is how Idid it.
This is how I paid off over$32,000 in debt as a single mom

(19:32):
with a son away in college andfinally started building wealth.
You can do it too, but you'vegot to get serious, get creative
and get to work.
Your financial glow up is worthit.
Your freedom is waiting, butyou've got to get serious, get
creative and get to work.
Your financial glow-up is worthit.
Your freedom is waiting.
And, trust me, being debt-freefeels better than anything you

(19:58):
could ever buy right now.
Now on to the last and specialsegment.
Today we're talking aboutsomething that will radically
shift how you move through thenext chapter of your life
creating a five to 10-year lifeplan.
Now, before you roll your eyesand think it's too late for that
, let me stop you right there.
Midlife is not a winding downchapter.

(20:18):
It's not the end of your story.
It's your awakening, yourglow-up era, the part where you
stop existing and startintentionally designing the life
you want to live.
And having a five to ten-yearplan.
That's not about controllingevery detail.
It's about stepping into yourpower and getting crystal clear

(20:41):
on where you're going.
Let's be real.
Most of us spent the first halfof our lives doing what was
expected.
We worked the job, raised thekids, kept it together, pushed
our own desires down.
At least that's what I did.
But now, now is the time tocheck in and ask what do I want

(21:04):
for the next five to 10 years ofmy life?
Who am I becoming Without avision?
It's easy to fall in defaultmode, to stay stuck in the same
routine, to wake up 10 yearsfrom now and wondering what
happened to me.
But when you create a conscious, empowered, exciting vision,

(21:26):
you give yourself something tomove toward, to wake up with
purpose.
You shift from surviving tostrategically thriving.
Here are some benefits of afive to 10-year glow-up plan it
gives you clarity on what reallymatters, creates focus and
helps you eliminate distractions, fuels motivation and keeps you

(21:49):
going when things get tough, builds confidence because you're
taking control of your futureand, finally, helps you make
aligned decisions in the present.
And, best of all, it puts youback in the driver's seat.
You don't need fancy software.
Just grab your favoritenotebook, open a fresh document

(22:11):
on your laptop or make aPinterest board.
This is your vision.
Make it fun.
Here's how to get started.
Number one choose your timeframe.
Pick a five-year or 10-yearwindow, or do both.
Ask yourself where do I want tobe?
How do I want to feel?

(22:32):
No-transcript.
Step two map out key lifecategories.
Break your vision down intocategories like health and
wellness, style and beauty, career and purpose, finances,
relationships, home andlifestyle, hobbies and personal

(22:54):
discovery, spirituality andfaith.
Step three write your vision inpresent tense.
Instead of I want to loseweight, write I weigh 140 pounds
.
My body feels strong, light andfull of energy.
Speak your future like it'salready yours.
Step four break it down intomilestones.

(23:18):
Create one-year, three-year andfive-year benchmarks.
Ask what habits do I need tobuild?
What investments do I need tomake?
What actions can I take thismonth to move closer?
Use your planner, a checklist, your notes app or even a sticky
note wall.
I personally love a gooddigital and paper combo Google

(23:41):
Docs for my master plan, mypaper planner for daily to-dos
and my notes app for alsochecklists and reminders.
So let me go through my ownfive-year glow-up plan, because
I'm not just talking the talk,I'm living the glow-up too right
beside you.
So my health and wellness I'mwalking daily, lifting weights

(24:05):
three times a week, stretchingregularly.
I weigh about 140, 150 pounds.
I may have gotten skin removalsurgery.
I reduce my inflammation, Ihave glowing labs and clear skin
from the inside out.
My style confident,trend-setting, classic, coastal

(24:26):
feminine.
I want quality over quantity.
Clothing that makes me feelpowerful and at ease.
My beauty clear, glowing skin, natural, light, brown, shiny
hair, white, healthy teeth, effortless, classic makeup,
aging gracefully and confidently.

(24:47):
Career I've left corporatebanking behind.
I'm building a thrivingbusiness coaching, writing
guides, hosting destinationretreats, launching glow getter
travel groups and creatingmeaningful content that empowers
midlife women.
My finances I want a fullyfunded retirement, a two-year

(25:12):
emergency fund, zero debt and toown multiple properties,
including a condo in Clevelandand another in Charleston, south
Carolina.
My relationships I am open todating again.
I want deep friendships, strongfamily connections, a loving,

(25:33):
respectful relationship with myadult son.
My lifestyle and personaldiscovery Summers in Cleveland,
winters in Charleston.
I want to travel, garden, layin the sun, find a new church
and maybe even adopt a dog or acat.
I want to be confident, peaceful and fully alive.

(25:56):
So you may ask yourself how doI stay focused for 5 or 10 years
.
Set reminders on your phone.
Use a planner or app likeTrello or Notion to track
progress.
Put your goals on your mirrorfridge or vision board.
Check in with your plan monthly.

(26:17):
Make it a date what's working, what needs to shift?
Give yourself permission toreassess and revise.
Your plan should grow with you.
So here's my final thought yourlife isn't on autopilot anymore.
You're the pilot, the designer, the dreamer and the doer the

(26:39):
designer, the dreamer and thedoer.
Having a five to ten-year planisn't rigid, it's liberating.
It's a declaration that youmatter, that you are not done
yet, that you believe in thewoman you are becoming.

(27:00):
So make that plan, put it inwriting, commit to it and, with
love, take action with grace.
And remember every glow upbegins with the vision.
Now go create yours.
So that's it.
That wraps up another powerpacked episode of the Midlife
