Ali arrives in Burchell Lake, a place completely devoid of sound. She learns what lead to everyone in town disappearing and how it all began when the residents began to hear a mysterious song coming from the water.
Unable to locate Newbridge, Ali stops off in the two nearby towns to ask the locals about her town that has disappeared but she quickly learns that the Newbridge may not have been the only town affected by the mysterious music.
In her search for Candace, Ali finds herself alone on an abandoned stretch of road in the middle of the night and has an unusual encounter with the voices coming from her radio.
As her nightmares begin to intensify, Ali seeks out someone who is capable of both reading and playing the music notes that Candace found in their mother’s journal.
Ali is plagued by nightmares of a fire and a mysterious song that took her mother and consumed her town. As she tries to deal with the recurring nightmare, she receives an unexpected late-night visitor.
Ali arrives home and Aunt Allison recounts the story of Candace’s disappearance and how it all began when she discovered her mother’s old journal in the attic.
