Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey everybody and
welcome to this week's episode
of the Mike Maloon Podcast.
Thanks for being here.
I hope you had anotherfantastic week Again.
I'm going to do it every week.
I mean, I got to talk about theweather.
It's so weird, they say, whenyou live in England, the Brits,
they always talk about theweather, but when you live here,
you talk about the weatherbecause it's been a beautiful
day today, it's been a fantasticday.
But you know what?
(00:20):
Let's just go ahead and getinto it today, because what I'm
going to be talking about is alittle bit about kind of the
weather and the seasons andstuff.
Right, because as winter fades, right and spring is sort of
unfolding before us, I'm justreminded that nature is always
teaching us something, right, aslong as we're willing to listen
.
Seasons, they never ask forpermission to change, right,
(00:41):
they don't cling to what was, they don't rush to what's next.
They just kind of move alongright, quietly, beautifully.
They do it with purpose and socan we.
You know, life, like theseasons, is meant to evolve and
that's what we're going to talkabout today.
You know, there are times inour lives where everything right
(01:27):
feels cold and still and bleak.
It's like a long winter.
Right, we feel stuck, unsure, you know, maybe even a little
lost.
But even when we don't see it,things are happening beneath the
surface.
Right, roots are growing, strength is building, resilience
is building, you know.
Rest, it's serving its purpose.
(01:47):
And then one day, you know, something shifts.
It might be small, it might bea new idea, it's a spark of
energy, a glimpse of hope.
That's your spring.
See, you don't need to have itall figured out too when this
all happens, because, just as wenever quite know what each
season will bring unexpectedsunshine or sudden storms, or
(02:09):
snow in March, or whatever itcan be we can't always predict
where life will take us.
But that doesn't mean we stopmoving forward.
See, for us it's really aboutcontinuing this personal growth
journey.
And with personal growth itisn't about control, it's about
curiosity, it's about being opento what's next, even if you
can't see it yet.
(02:29):
You know your job isn't to haveall the answers, and I think
that's the hardest time forpeople.
They see something they want inlife and then immediately try
to start figuring out well, howam I going to get it?
And then they see everyobstacle, so they stop.
But your job isn't to have allthe answers.
Your job is to keep showing up,keep learning, keep, should I
say blooming?
Right, you know, let go, letgrow.
(02:50):
I mean, it's been said amillion times and it's true.
As the trees right now let goof old leaves, make space for
new ones, so too should we letgo of what no longer serves us
Old habits, old fears, oldstories.
You cannot continue to moveforward if you hang on to the
things of the past.
(03:10):
See, there is something, probably beautiful, waiting for
you, but it needs that space togrow.
So, right now, ask yourself whatam I holding on to that's
keeping me from growing, keepingme from blooming, keeping me
from moving forward?
You know what small shift can Imake today, even if I don't
know where it will lead?
You know, I used to have thisthing in my gym I've talked
(03:32):
about in the past where it usedto say change nothing.
Right, nothing changes, changesomething, something changes.
It's simple, it's truth.
You change nothing, nothingwill change.
You change something, somethinghas to change.
But the truth is, wherever youthink you are right now, you're
not stuck.
You're just in a season and, like all seasons, it's just
(03:54):
temporary.
You need to trust the rhythm, trust the change and, most
importantly, trust yourself.
So if you're out there rightnow figuring or feeling like
you're flounding around or youdon't do, do something Again.
A lot of times people sit aroundwaiting to try to figure
everything out before they takeaction.
(04:15):
Right, you're going to start anew workout program, so you
spend three weeks trying tofigure out the best workout gear
, the best workout programs, thebest, the best things in the
world to get yourself ready whenyou're going to work out,
instead of just going out andworking out.
You know we hold back fromhaving conversations.
We don't want to have, you know, or maybe we're too scared,
right?
I always talk about fear.
Fear is the biggest reason whynobody grows.
Fear is what holds us back.
(04:35):
It'd be something as simple asthat fear of having that
uncomfortable conversation thatyou really do need to have with
somebody, that conversation that, once you get kind of past it,
you're going to be okay with.
But you're not stuck.
You're getting up every day andyou're doing the same thing
over and over again.
And doing what?
Expecting different results?
Well, you can't Do somethingdifferent?
(04:58):
Drive a different direction towork.
You might see something thatinspires you.
Talk to somebody you've nevertalked to before.
Try something you haven't.
Try something new to eat.
Open up a book, do something.
But you don't have to remainstuck in that season because,
again, what you'll start seeingis any small changes.
You start making right Anything.
(05:18):
You start planting right.
You put that little seed outthere.
Eventually it's going to sprout, it's going to grow and for you
, it might just take you in alittle bit of a direction, one
that by the time you get donewith, you're thinking how did I
get here?
This is amazing, because youtook a step, you moved forward,
you took a shot, you swing forthe fences, you're not stuck.
(05:44):
You're just in a season and allseasons change and evolve and
eventually you know what.
Maybe by the time you get tothat same season next year,
you've just grown so much.
All right, so that's what I gotfor you today.
You know I'm sorry to tie itback to the weather, but it's
lovely right now.
So, as always, I appreciate youbeing with me.
(06:07):
Again, I've heard a lot frompeople lately about loving the
short form content.
So if somebody's looking for apodcast say hey, look, my buddy
Mike's got a podcast.
I listen to it while I'mbrushing my teeth.
That's how quick I can get itdone with, or I get in my car,
make sure, if you're on Apple orSpotify, wherever you listen,
just kind of hit that subscribebutton and, more importantly, if
you get an opportunity, leave areview.
That really helps me out.
That really helps me out.
I think I'm on season four rightnow.
(06:28):
I have not missed one week.
I have not missed one weekbecause I promised I would do
this and as long as I can keepdoing it, a proponent for people
, for change.
Again, I'm not here to sitthere and say I'm going to make
your life amazing.
I'm just here to say, you knowwhat?
Some people are just feeling alittle stuck and want to do a
little bit better, and if I canhelp you do a little bit better,
(06:49):
make you a little bit happier, that's what I'm here for.
So, as always, I wish you thebest.
Have a great weekend.
I know for some of you, we'regoing into a spring break here
with Easter upon us, and so Iwish you the best.
As always, I got nothing butlove for you.
We'll see you next time.
