Ever feel like you're trapped in a never-ending cycle of notifications, deadlines, and demands? You're not alone. The constant bombardment of information—from alarming headlines to social media feeds full of opinions—has somehow become our normal. But at what cost?

Peace isn't just a nice-to-have luxury—it's the most valuable currency in your life. When we sacrifice our mental well-being to keep up with external expectations, we lose touch with ourselves. We say yes when we mean no. We overcommit. We burn out. And then we wonder why we feel so disconnected from our own lives.

What's draining you right now? That relationship that leaves you anxious? The job that fills you with dread? The social media accounts that make you feel inadequate? Whatever it is, ask yourself: is it worth the price you're paying? Because if something costs you your peace or sanity, it's simply too expensive.

You have permission to set boundaries. To unfollow accounts that don't serve you. To decline invitations when your soul needs rest. To walk away from conversations that deplete you. There's profound strength in choosing yourself, wisdom in saying no, and power in protecting your peace. You weren't put on this earth to be everything for everyone—you're here to be whole for yourself first.

The world will always be loud, demanding your attention through frightening headlines and never-ending to-do lists. But you get to decide what deserves space in your life. Take a moment to check in with yourself. What are you holding onto that's costing you your peace? Let it go. The things truly meant for you won't destroy your spirit to maintain them. Protect your peace like the precious resource it is—because nothing else matters if you lose yourself in the process.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey everyone and welcome to this episode of the
Michael Noon Podcast.
I hope you're doing well.
It's Thursday, kind of a littleclose this week but with the
new office here at the shop, alittle bit of time, good
staffing, so I'm able to try tokeep it going.
Like I said, I missed a fewweeks here and there, which was
so never done that before, butgot busy.
The bagel shop's doing well.
It's getting bigger.
People seem to enjoy it.

(00:21):
It's great.
So I got no complaints.
But here I ran downstairs, I'min the office, I'm ready to do
my podcast.
But look, I want to talk aboutsomething today.
It's really important becausethere's so much going on,
there's so much noise, there'sso much craziness, there's so
much everything.
I want to talk about the factthat if something's really
costing your peace or it'scosting your sanity, it's way
too expensive to be dealing with.
I mean, right now there's a lotof noise in the world.

(00:50):
Right now you're probably feelit.
The second you wake up yourphone is buzzing, your feed is
full of opinions and scaredheadlines, and there are
deadlines maybe in your own lifelooming, there's people needing
things, and then there's ato-do list.
Everything is just never endingand never ending right.
It's just constantly beingbombarded.
It's exhausting and somehowwe've normalized it.
But here's the truth and we allneed to remember this If it

(01:13):
costs you your peace or yoursanity, it's too expensive.
And I'm not talking about inthe financial sense.
I'm talking in the terms ofyour energy, your mental health,
your sleep, your presence, yourlife, and that's what we're
going to talk about today.
Again, the world is loud, itwants your attention.

(02:00):
Again, you're constantlybombarded with the demands for
us to focus on it.
Everybody wants our attention.
Again, those notificationsheadlinesarded with the demands
for us to focus on it.
Everybody wants our attention.
Again, those notifications,headlines, emails, conversations
, expectations.
There's always more to do, moreto prove, more to catch up on.
But when we live in response tothe noise, we lose the ability
to listen to ourselves.
And when we lose that, we startmaking choices that feel
misaligned.
We start saying yes.

(02:21):
When we mean no, we overcommit,we burn out.
We wonder why we feel lost, disconnected.
We start saying yes when wemean no, we overcommit, we burn
out.
We wonder why we feel lost, disconnected from our own lives.
See, the thing is, your peace iscurrency.
It's probably the mostimportant piece of currency in
your life.
We measure our lives in hoursand paychecks, with social media
likes and milestones, how wecompare to others, but what have
we started measuring in ourpeace?

(02:42):
Just ask yourself what isreally draining you right now?
What's the real cost of thisrelationship you might be in
that's not so good, that jobyou're in that's probably not
making you happy, that habityou're doing or that commitment
that maybe you don't want to bedoing?
Are you sacrificing peace tomaintain something that isn't
even good for you?
Because, again, your peace it'snot a luxury, it's a necessity,

(03:04):
and your sanity that's notoptional, that's your foundation
and the thing is you don't haveto carry everything.
What I want you to do is I wantyou to understand that you
don't have to hold on toeverything.
Right, you can unfollowaccounts that make you feel less
than you are.
You know.
Again, getting off the socialmedia.

(03:25):
Say no to plans when your soulneeds a rest.
Say no to plans even if you'reworried about how others are
gonna take it.
At the end of the day, it's allabout you, how you're gonna
feel.
Walk away from conversationsthat leave you anxious or just
draining.
Set boundaries.
You know that.
Make you know that make youwhole again with people right.

(03:45):
Like some people, they demandtoo much.
They suck the life out of you.
Set those boundaries.
There's really a lot ofstrength in choosing yourself.
There's wisdom in walking awayand saying no.
There's power in protectingyour peace.
You're not here to beeverything for everyone.
You're here to be whole for youand then maybe those people in

(04:07):
your life maybe your wife andyour kids and your family that
are there as well, but not foreveryone.
Okay, so here's what I'm askingyou to do Take a moment, breathe
, check in with yourself.
What are you holding ontothat's costing you your peace?
And is it worth it?
Spoiler here, it's probably not.
So put it down, let it go.
Don't get sidetracked by thingsthat don't matter in the long

(04:27):
run.
The world is asking too much ofyou already, especially a lot
of the nonsense, the garbage, the BS, bylines, the headlines,
everything trying to get you toclick on it.
Look at it, get it, suck you in, scare you to death.
It's not worth it, because thethings that are meant for you,
they won't destroy your spiritto keep them Again.

(04:51):
So if it costs you your peace, your joy, your sense of self, if
it's too expensive.
Make space for quiet, forstillness, for being and protect
your peace like it's the mostvaluable thing you own, because,
honestly, it is All right,everybody.
That's all I got for you today.
Again, I appreciate you stickingwith me, tuning in, being here
with me.
Every week we're heading into aweekend.

(05:13):
Like I said, everything seemsto be going well here, just
keeping busy.
I'm glad you're still listeningwith me, as always.
Share with your friends.
Family Give me that like on theApple podcast.
